00:01:45.000 That just means that the standard operating procedure of your wife putting a restraining order on you when she initiates a divorce, no violence, no threats be needed, that you can't own guns and you lose your job.

00:01:59.000 And of course, a lot of people snickered about that and said it wasn't going to happen, and it indeed did.

00:02:05.000 The Supreme Court ruled that that was unconstitutional.

00:02:11.000 And if you don't like it, they'll have some men dropped by with automatic weapons that'll take care of you, if you resist.

02:08:36.000 And within minutes, it must have caused a nosebleed for whoever took it over to the House side, because they would have moved so fast.

02:08:44.000 They got it over there, and it was through the House and on its way to the President, where the doubt was he'll sign it.

02:08:51.000 And that was all done before the House adjourned.

02:08:55.000 When I realized that the Senate had approved it, I got a hold of the newly elected Congressman Paul Brown.

02:09:03.000 Well, I ran into him, I caught up with him, I should say, on the phone at the airport.

02:09:12.000 And he had no idea that this thing had gone through, nor had I at that time.

02:09:17.000 And we discussed, bless our hearts, a strategy that we would implement when the House of Representatives got back on January 15 to try to stop it there.

02:09:27.000 Well, it had already been put through.

02:09:30.000 They didn't want any more Time for debate, any more time for public awareness of just how seriously they have hurt the right to keep and bear arms of so many people, particularly veterans.

02:09:43.000 And it's just an amazing thing.

02:09:46.000 The big concession that was arrived at in the United States Senate dealt with, if your name has been put on the list that you can't buy a gun when an instant background check is done, You'll be able to get your name out of the list, or at least let's put it this way, you'll be able to try.

02:10:05.000 You'll be able to sue the government and that means you can go pay for a lawyer, you can go pay for a psychiatrist, you can pay for any other expert witnesses that you might need in order to try to get your name out.

02:10:20.000 Keep in mind, being able to sue the government, that is a special privilege that they have to grant to you, so that was a change, but you will have to prove your innocence.

02:10:32.000 You will have to prove that you're not mentally defective, which will be the way they're going to be zapping so many of these folks.

02:10:40.000 You will have to prove beyond... Well, they're now saying troubled, and they're saying any mental disorder.

02:10:46.000 Sure.

02:10:47.000 If they think that you might be a danger to yourself or to others, if you've been so ruled by some psychiatrist or the Veterans Administration, then you're toast, and you're going to have to prove that you're not.

02:11:03.000 If somebody hasn't had experience dealing with The court system, it may be difficult to appreciate just how terrible a burden this is, but the reason that we are a different country in terms of our judicial process What really makes us stand apart from all the non-English speaking countries of the world is that when the government has a beef against you, they have to bring the charges.

02:11:32.000 They have to prove that you are guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.

02:11:36.000 And that's why the Soviet Union and everybody else love to use psychiatry as a tool against political dissidents because they can just say, in fact they have There's scores of new designations in the last decade.

02:11:49.000 Where, oh, you don't trust the government.

02:11:51.000 Oh, you have this disorder where you have opposition to authority.

02:12:51.000 So, and this goes back to people when they would get a divorce, and on average, the lawyer goes, All I can say is we need another Congress.

02:13:02.000 And then that got overturned in federal courts.

02:13:06.000 They just continue to do it.

02:13:52.000 They came out publicly for it as it left the House of Representatives when they got this so-called improvement that you can try to get your name out.

02:14:02.000 Listen, even if you were somehow able to prove that you were not a danger to yourself and others, That doesn't mean that your name is going to come out of the list.

02:14:13.000 They can just fool around and fool around and fool around, and after a year goes by, the bill says you're considered denied.

02:14:23.000 They've created kind of an extra-jurisdictional system that doesn't even have judges involved.
