02:37:25.000 Well, first of all, as you indicated, most people don't realize that they're two-way microwave radios.

02:37:31.000 And if they understood that, it would make them think very differently about it.

02:37:34.000 But the term that we use to describe the radiation from a cell phone is microwave radiation.

02:37:40.000 Well, it really, industry calls it radio frequency energy.

02:37:45.000 Radio frequency energy sounds like something very nice.

02:37:47.000 After all, radios make music.

02:37:49.000 We all need extra energy.

02:37:50.000 But it's not energy.

02:37:52.000 It's radiation.

02:37:53.000 Now, television towers send radiation out to your television, which receives it.

02:37:58.000 But a cell phone works by sending and receiving microwave radiation 900 times a minute.

02:39:25.000 Well, cell phones are just doing that on a smaller scale, but cumulatively, I mean, we know, it's in the studies, that it's literally breaking up the DNA, disturbing the cells.

02:39:39.000 What's crazy is, this isn't really even denied, except industry tries to whitewash it.

02:39:48.000 I think you're absolutely right about, by the way, the old studies from the military.

02:39:51.000 I've talked to guys who used a microwave radiation to warm themselves on the deck of an aircraft carrier before they realized that it might be damaging.

02:39:59.000 And that's how they discovered we could make microwave ovens, by the way, is somebody was standing in front of the radar tower and the chocolate in their pocket melted.

02:40:09.000 So the first microwave ovens, in fact, were called Radar Ranges because the guys who invented them thought it would be really cool to cook with radar.

02:40:19.000 Well, it turned out not to be such a cool idea for women, so they renamed it Microwave.

02:40:22.000 It sounded more dainty and more easy to sell to women, which it turned out to be.

02:40:28.000 Where we are with the issue is the following.

02:40:31.000 Microwave ovens cook food and they use a thousand watts of power, but the same frequency as a cell phone.

02:40:40.000 A cell phone is far too weak to cook anything.

02:40:43.000 It has less than one watt of power, but it does have the same frequency as a microwave oven.

02:40:48.000 And right away there we tend to lose people because it's not the power that's most important for cell phone radiation.

02:40:55.000 It's the nature of the signal that is sent and the signal is not a steady continuous wave.

02:43:37.000 In addition, if you go deep within your iPhone, you'll find advice now about how to use them safely.

02:43:44.000 If you go to Settings on your iPhone, and then you go to General, And from General, you go to About.

02:43:51.000 And then in About, you go all the way down to something most people would never see called Legal.

02:43:57.000 You click on Legal, and it gives you RF exposure information.

02:44:01.000 And there it says, buried in the phone, to reduce RF exposure, use a headset or a hands-free option.

02:44:10.000 And also says, do not keep the phone closer than 10 millimeters to the body or you can exceed the as-tested exposure limits.

02:44:21.000 In fact, one of my crew a few months ago pointed that out, that not just on iPhones, but on most droids.

02:44:27.000 They're covering their butts now and quietly slipping it in.

02:44:33.000 If you read through dozens of pages of stuff, that, oh, this is something people should be concerned about.

02:44:38.000 What about some of the studies I've seen that some people appear to be more, almost allergic to frequency pollution.

02:44:49.000 And so that's why it's worse for other people.

02:44:52.000 Certainly there are some people who are much more sensitive to this.

02:44:55.000 It's been very, very difficult to study because the studies have taken people, a very small number I should say, and looked for an immediate reaction.

02:45:04.000 Some people don't have an immediate reaction.

02:45:06.000 Their reaction occurs within a couple hours when they're finished with the quote study.

02:45:11.000 There have been a few studies, one done by Andrew Marino, who's in Texas, where he's looked at a physician who complained of this problem and was able to see changes in her brain and in subtle measures of her nervous system that could not be apparent to her that he could record when she was being exposed or not exposed.

02:45:32.000 We think that there is a small percentage of people who are quite responsive and reactive to this.

02:45:39.000 But everybody does react in some way.

02:45:42.000 Some people are aware of it.

02:45:43.000 Some people are not aware of it.

02:45:45.000 And the problem has been that we have no serious research underway on this issue whatsoever.

02:45:50.000 And that's why what we're calling for is a two cents a month campaign.

02:45:57.000 Would you give two cents?

02:45:58.000 Would you give two cents from the consumer, from the manufacturer, and from the provider to create a massive fund that would exist for eight years to train doctors and engineers in this field?

02:46:10.000 Because it's a very obscure field in which very few people have training.

02:46:15.000 I spent years working in toxicology and epidemiology and I knew very little about this issue when I first encountered it.

02:46:22.000 When my first grandchild was born, and I became very interested in how bright he was, he still is, and how quickly he, at nine months of age, could crawl over, take a cell phone, turn it on, and play a game.

02:46:35.000 And as I began to look into what was known about the developing brain, I became shocked.

02:46:40.000 That's a whole other area.

02:46:42.000 The studies are legion, and even mainline medical doctors like yourself and others are saying, do not give kids these.

02:46:49.000 They're wiring their brains.

02:46:50.000 It's wiring them in a bad way.

02:46:51.000 And then I go to the grocery store or I go to a restaurant, nobody's kids are talking to mommy and daddy now.

02:47:02.000 And then you got smart meters on the house radiating as all the new appliances are hooked into it.

02:47:09.000 And this is a totally unstudied area, as you were saying, and it's just ubiquitous now.

02:47:16.000 Google's launching Blimps and drones that are going to bring in microwave communication everywhere.

02:47:22.000 I mean, we're just calling for something called the Baby Safe Project with the head of OBGYN at Yale University, Dr. Hugh Taylor, which who is the chief of obstetrics and gynecology there, and a number of other prominent doctors, including Andrew Weil.

02:47:38.000 And the BabySafe project basically says pregnant women should avoid direct exposure to the pregnant abdomen from cell phones and from tablets, because we know that anything held directly on the body is going to get into the body.

02:47:52.000 All of these tablets being used in all of these schools around this country, being sold for hundreds of millions of dollars, The tablet is tested to be used on a table 20 centimeters from an adult male body.
