00:04:32.000 David and Mateo.
00:04:33.000 Yes, we know who you are, brother, but tell the audience who you are.
00:04:36.000 So, my name is David Benavides.
00:04:38.000 I'm three-time world champion, 168 pounds, WBC, number one.
00:04:42.000 Actually, the number one behind Canelo, trying to fight Canelo.
00:04:45.000 You don't want to give me the opportunity, but we're still doing our thing, man.
00:04:48.000 We're still...
00:04:49.000 We're still putting in the work, you know, showing everybody who the best is and, you know, just making my dreams come true day by day.
00:04:55.000 He's 15-0, right?
00:04:57.000 Yeah.
00:04:57.000 Me?
00:04:58.000 Yeah.
00:04:58.000 No, I'm 28-0.
00:05:01.000 Oh, shit.
00:05:02.000 Yeah, with 24 knockouts.
00:05:03.000 Damn, goddamn!
00:05:04.000 My bad.
00:05:04.000 You know, playing.
00:05:05.000 Don't worry, Canelo's scared.
00:05:06.000 Yeah.
00:05:07.000 And then Mateo.
00:05:08.000 Man, you already know.
00:05:10.000 We're honored to have us on here today.
00:05:12.000 David Benavidez has been in Miami for the last couple of months now.
00:05:16.000 He's made this officially.
00:05:17.000 He's home.
00:05:18.000 Him and his family have moved out here.
00:05:20.000 He's at the boxer gym doing his camp.
00:05:22.000 You know, we're super proud to have him.
00:05:24.000 And you know what?
00:05:25.000 It's a true honor to have a world champion like this.
00:05:28.000 More than that, we're very good friends.
00:05:30.000 There's a story behind that.
00:05:31.000 He'll get into it a little bit.
00:05:32.000 Of course.
00:05:33.000 You know, we're getting ready for something big, and he's going to talk about that.
00:05:36.000 So...
00:05:36.000 So we linked up a couple of days ago at the car show that you guys had at Boxer Gym.
00:05:41.000 That was your idea, by the way.
00:05:42.000 Love cars.
00:05:43.000 And as well, you trained my guys to network for boxing.
00:05:46.000 Yeah.
00:05:46.000 So they were asking about how you grew up, your childhood, things like that as well.
00:05:50.000 Yeah, so basically...
00:05:52.000 You know, I'm the second oldest.
00:05:54.000 My brother, Jose Benavidez, he's the one who really started this boxing, so I gotta give, you know, it all up to my brother because he's the one, he's the reason why I'm here.
00:06:01.000 You know, basically the story is little brother wanted to be like the big brother.
00:06:06.000 My brother, you know, he was a man back then.
00:06:08.000 Some stuff happened, but I carried the name ourselves, and now we're here.
00:06:14.000 We're here fighting the best, three-time world champion.
00:06:17.000 I was the youngest ever in history to win the Super Middleweight Championship.
00:06:21.000 The first one I won, I was 20 years old.
00:06:23.000 The youngest before that was Mike Tyson.
00:06:26.000 He won his belt at 20 years old.
00:06:29.000 Thankfully, I've been doing my thing.
00:06:30.000 I've been working extremely hard, and I actually got my nickname from Mike Tyson himself, the Mexican Monster.
00:06:35.000 I'm very happy with the way things are going now.
00:06:37.000 What got you into boxing in the first place?
00:06:39.000 So like I said, you know, me just trying to be like my older brother.
00:06:42.000 My father started us, you know, started, my brother's five years older than me.
00:06:46.000 So my brother started at five years old.
00:06:48.000 And then when I think at that time, I was like two years old.
00:06:50.000 So I just, or no, no, my bad.
00:06:53.000 He started at five, you know, trained when he was seven.
00:06:55.000 I was about two years old.
00:06:57.000 So I just wanted to be like my older brother.
00:06:59.000 I remember my dad used to train us in the garage.
00:07:02.000 Is this in Phoenix?
00:07:03.000 This is in Phoenix, Arizona.
00:07:04.000 Yeah, I'm originally from Phoenix, Arizona.
00:07:05.000 My dad used to train us in the house, in the garage, and I remember I was at two years old.
00:07:10.000 I used to go peek in the garage, see my brother train, and my dad one day said, you know, come in.
00:07:14.000 You know, come in.
00:07:15.000 Let's get this working.
00:07:16.000 Wow.
00:07:16.000 Since then, it's been history, bro.
00:07:18.000 Was your father a boxer, too?
00:07:19.000 No, he was not a boxer.
00:07:20.000 This is the crazy thing about my dad.
00:07:22.000 My dad, in his head, you know, he was involved with gangs and all that stuff back then.
00:07:27.000 He used to be from California.
00:07:32.000 Somebody was going to kill him or whatever.
00:07:33.000 So he wanted us to be strong.
00:07:35.000 If that ever happened, that he knew that my brother would take care of me and he knew that I would take care of my family.
00:07:40.000 So we just boxing, boxing, boxing.
00:07:42.000 And that's basically how my life has been, man.
00:07:45.000 Right now I'm 27 years old.
00:07:46.000 I have 25 years boxing and I loved every single day of it.
00:07:50.000 Wow.
00:07:51.000 So take us through, first of all, how'd you guys meet?
00:07:55.000 So the crazy story is I've known this guy since I was 13 years old because I got invited to train at the Wild Card Gym where Pacquiao was training because my brother was training there.
00:08:04.000 My brother was a top prospect, best in the world, and then he got invited to train with Manny Pacquiao.
00:08:10.000 So then I went a year later.
00:08:12.000 I had stopped boxing for a year, and then when I was 12 years old, I went over there.
00:08:15.000 I started training, and I remember I went to Bancroft in Hollywood, and I remember seeing this kid.
00:08:21.000 He used to wear a gray sweater, an Adidas duffel bag, and then I'd always end up seeing him at the gym.
00:08:27.000 Who the fuck is this guy?
00:08:31.000 We ended up being cool.
00:08:33.000 He ended up leaving.
00:08:34.000 You know, but I always related to the guy even since back then because his father was like my father.
00:08:37.000 Very tough, strict.
00:08:39.000 If you fuck up, I'm going to slap you until you get it right.
00:08:42.000 And his dad was like that until I remember seeing him.
00:08:44.000 And then when I came, I moved over here to Miami, so I was hitting him up.
00:08:48.000 You know, I wanted to go to the boxer gym.
00:08:50.000 We got to talking.
00:08:51.000 I met him.
00:08:52.000 And then one day he invited me to dinner.
00:08:54.000 Me and my wife, him and his wife.
00:08:55.000 And we were there and we started talking about stuff.
00:08:58.000 Like, I used to train on wildcars.
00:08:59.000 I used to train on wildcars too.
00:09:00.000 I went to Bancroft.
00:09:01.000 I went to Bancroft too.
00:09:02.000 I'm like, what the fuck?
00:09:03.000 This guy looks a little bit familiar now.
00:09:05.000 Now he's talking and then, you know, we ended up finding out that there was a dude that I seen that used to go to Bancroft.
00:09:13.000 I'm like, what the fuck?
00:09:14.000 So it's just crazy how things happen, bro.
00:09:16.000 Full circle.
00:09:18.000 I really do feel like God brought me out here for a reason, you know, because now I'm at the best gym in the world.
00:09:23.000 In the world, you know, he has his, you know, the way his gym is set up, I've been to a lot of gyms everywhere, and I feel like he has the best gym in the world.
00:09:32.000 And I'm doing my thing, you know, I'm the best in the world too, so now we come together, and now we can combine both our forces and go tackle our dreams, you know, together.
00:09:41.000 So what made you say, you know what, I gotta get out to Miami?
00:09:44.000 Were you in Arizona before?
00:09:46.000 I know you're from Phoenix.
00:09:47.000 So me, I've been moving around a lot.
00:09:50.000 With me, I've never been that type of individual that wants to stay in one place.
00:09:54.000 I feel like the world is big enough where you have to travel.
00:09:57.000 You know, you can't just stay in one place.
00:09:59.000 I originally from Phoenix, I moved to North Hollywood, then I moved to Long Beach.
00:10:03.000 Then I moved back to Phoenix, then I moved to Las Vegas, then I moved to Oregon, and then I moved to Seattle, and now I'm in Miami.
00:10:09.000 Oregon?
00:10:09.000 What were you doing out there?
00:10:10.000 My buddy lived over here.
00:10:11.000 He's one of the top fitness trainers, a strength and conditioning trainer.
00:10:14.000 Okay.
00:10:15.000 And then I ended up moving to Seattle.
00:10:18.000 I met my wife there.
00:10:19.000 We bought a house.
00:10:20.000 You know, we still have the house, and now we're over here because...
00:10:23.000 Seattle's a little bit depressing, bro.
00:10:25.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:10:25.000 It rains a lot, man.
00:10:26.000 It rains a lot.
00:10:26.000 It's dark as fuck.
00:10:28.000 So, you know, I thought, you know what?
00:10:29.000 Let's just go to Miami.
00:10:31.000 Yeah.
00:10:31.000 Right now, I'm financially stable enough to, you know, buy multiple properties.
00:10:35.000 And I thought, you know what?
00:10:36.000 I feel like I got a cousin out here, too, that he lives here.
00:10:39.000 So he's a mutual person, lives here.
00:10:40.000 So I thought, I might as well just come over here.
00:10:42.000 I've always wanted to live in Miami.
00:10:43.000 I'm going to come give it a, see how it is.
00:10:45.000 Now I don't want to leave.
00:10:48.000 It's a good place.
00:10:49.000 You mentioned buying properties and investing.
00:10:51.000 How important is it for athletes to, you know, invest in themselves while they're earning the money so that they can create a future?
00:10:56.000 I feel like it's very important because right now, especially for me, I'm just trying to buy, every fight I'm trying to buy a property, renting them out, making income where I don't have to do nothing.
00:11:06.000 You know, because of boxing life, bro, to be honest, it's not a long life.
00:11:09.000 Yeah.
00:11:10.000 And I've been fortunate enough to...
00:11:13.000 I've been professional since I was 16 years old.
00:11:15.000 I got 10 years, probably 11 years right now.
00:11:18.000 And I made a lot of money.
00:11:20.000 I've spent a lot of money.
00:11:22.000 Buying cars, buying fucking...
00:11:24.000 You know, spending money on trips and all that.
00:11:26.000 All that stuff is cool.
00:11:28.000 I'm not saying nothing about it.
00:11:29.000 But when the money's not coming back in, you know, you got to look at something like, well, I need to make money somehow because boxing is not going to last our whole lives.
00:11:38.000 You know what I mean?
00:11:38.000 So...
00:11:39.000 In the property, you never lose.
00:11:41.000 Yeah.
00:11:41.000 I bought my house in Seattle for $800,000.
00:11:43.000 Now it's worth $1.5 million.
00:11:45.000 Nice.
00:11:45.000 In two years.
00:11:46.000 Nice.
00:11:47.000 So now we're just buying property.
00:11:49.000 This fight, I'm going to buy another property, too.
00:11:51.000 So just buying as much property as I can.
00:11:52.000 Are you buying single-family homes, duplexes, triplexes?
00:11:56.000 I was buying...
00:11:59.000 Condo, single-family home, but now we're looking into the duplex.
00:12:02.000 I'm actually looking at the quadplexes now.
00:12:04.000 Those are the ones where you make the most money at.
00:12:07.000 That's where I've been very fortunate enough.
00:12:09.000 I'm getting into that, but I want to get a restaurant.
00:12:13.000 Now, I just want to make my dreams come true.
00:12:15.000 I want a restaurant, and now that I'm in the position to actually make that happen, then that's the way we're going towards it.
00:12:23.000 Yeah, yeah, a restaurant.
00:12:24.000 Would you open it up here in Miami or where would you?
00:12:26.000 Yeah, I think so.
00:12:27.000 And Miami, Seattle.
00:12:28.000 The beautiful thing about me being in so much places, I know so much people everywhere.
00:12:32.000 I can go to Miami, Seattle, Phoenix, Vegas, everywhere.
00:12:35.000 I know a lot of people everywhere and, you know, I think everything will be successful everywhere I've been.
00:12:39.000 Miami's the best, though.
00:12:40.000 Do it here.
00:12:41.000 Yeah, it's kind of expensive here, though.
00:12:43.000 Yeah, it's kind of expensive.
00:12:44.000 Yeah, you can charge more.
00:12:44.000 Yeah.
00:12:45.000 So, as a fighter, right, everyone wants to know the routine of a fighter.
00:12:49.000 How do they train?
00:12:50.000 What's the regimen?
00:12:51.000 So, Matteo and David, how can you speak to this for the audience?
00:12:54.000 So, there's two different types of training.
00:12:58.000 There's a regular training just to get in shape.
00:13:00.000 Or there's a world-class training camp, a championship training camp.
00:13:05.000 And I can tell you all about that.
00:13:06.000 A championship training camp is me, how I get ready, how I'm doing it right now.
00:13:11.000 I get ready for three months.
00:13:15.000 I run in the morning.
00:13:17.000 I train in the afternoon.
00:13:18.000 Then I do conditioning and weight training at night.
00:13:21.000 That's every day for 11, 12 weeks.
00:13:24.000 We spar Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
00:13:26.000 We go hard every day, every single day, because at this level that I'm fighting at right now, You can't take any day off because there's killers.
00:13:35.000 There's killers trying to take your spot.
00:13:36.000 There's killers trying to take those belts.
00:13:38.000 And for me, I'm not going to go out like that.
00:13:41.000 I'm not going to put everything into my training camp.
00:13:45.000 I'm not going to not put everything into my training camp because this is my passion.
00:13:48.000 At the end of the day, I feel like...
00:13:50.000 You have to put everything into your passion to see your dreams come true.
00:13:53.000 And that's why I feel like I've been so successful.
00:13:55.000 You know, I've had a lot of turmoils in my career.
00:13:58.000 I've had a lot of stuff happen to me.
00:13:59.000 I've been up and down, up and down, but I've never gave up on myself.
00:14:02.000 And that's why I'm here, where I'm at today.
00:14:05.000 You know, nobody expected me to be here.
00:14:07.000 And I'm still here, and it's for a reason, because I love what I do, and I'm never going to give up on myself.
00:14:11.000 Yeah.
00:14:13.000 So you mentioned that it takes you about 90 days if you've got a fight coming to get in shape.
00:14:17.000 And you said you run in the morning.
00:14:18.000 How many miles are you?
00:14:19.000 So we run like four miles, five miles.
00:14:22.000 Honestly, it's not that it takes me 90 days to get in shape.
00:14:24.000 I train more because I want to make sure everything is...
00:14:28.000 Clean and polished by the time I get in the ring.
00:14:31.000 Gotcha.
00:14:31.000 You can do a training camp in six weeks, five weeks.
00:14:34.000 But are you going to be at your best?
00:14:35.000 Gotcha.
00:14:36.000 That's what I'm saying at this level.
00:14:37.000 You don't want to leave no room for error.
00:14:39.000 And you got to make sure you work 100% on everything.
00:14:41.000 By the time you get in that fight, there shouldn't be no room for no mistakes.
00:14:44.000 Because this is how I see it.
00:14:46.000 It's a life or death.
00:14:47.000 Not literally, but if I lose...
00:14:50.000 My fucking career dies.
00:14:51.000 Yeah.
00:14:52.000 So I take this very, very serious, bro.
00:14:54.000 And I feel like every fighter should.
00:14:56.000 They should take it extremely serious.
00:14:58.000 And that's let me be successful like I am.
00:15:01.000 And now I'm at the doorstep with something big.
00:15:04.000 I'm fighting for another title at another weight class.
00:15:06.000 So by the time this fight is done, I'm going to have four of those.
00:15:09.000 And then we're still trying to look for that Canelo fight.
00:15:12.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
00:15:12.000 Canelo is all that bullshit, like, oh, he needs to be respectful.
00:15:15.000 Listen, I'm not going to bow my knee to nobody because I've earned my shot for the belts.
00:15:20.000 The only reason this fight isn't happening is because he wants fucking $150, $200 million, which is absurd.
00:15:25.000 Not even the promotion company makes money like that.
00:15:27.000 So that's just basically telling me that he's scared.
00:15:29.000 Why is he doing this?
00:15:30.000 Because he's that scared of you?
00:15:32.000 That's a monster?
00:15:33.000 You know what I mean?
00:15:34.000 The thing about this, I try not to say much because if I say I'm scared, if I say he's scared, people say I'm a hater.
00:15:40.000 Oh, what have you proved?
00:15:41.000 This and that.
00:15:42.000 I've got three belts.
00:15:44.000 I'm the number one contender.
00:15:45.000 I don't need to prove shit.
00:15:46.000 I beat the people that tell me to beat so you can fight for the title.
00:15:49.000 And I've done that over and over again.
00:15:50.000 I've been in the mandatory for three years.
00:15:52.000 That never happens.
00:15:54.000 That literally has never happened.
00:15:55.000 Can you explain to the audience what the mandatory is?
00:15:57.000 So the mandatory is...
00:15:59.000 So when you're waiting in line, there's a ranking list.
00:16:01.000 One to ten.
00:16:03.000 Once you reach that number one shot, that number one spot, you have to fight for the title.
00:16:09.000 That's always how it's been.
00:16:10.000 I've been beating the top guys.
00:16:13.000 I think I beat the top four.
00:16:15.000 From three, from four, three, two, and one.
00:16:17.000 Yeah.
00:16:18.000 And I beat him back to back and I still haven't got a chance, you know.
00:16:21.000 But I feel like Canelo right now, he's a money man right now.
00:16:26.000 You know what I mean?
00:16:26.000 In boxing, each of these is 3%.
00:16:29.000 So what I make, 3%.
00:16:32.000 You know, even if you're not the champion, the sanction fee is 3%.
00:16:37.000 So imagine if Canelo doesn't want to fight me.
00:16:43.000 Yeah.
00:17:02.000 Boxing is really political when it comes to that.
00:17:04.000 Can you explain?
00:17:05.000 Because a lot of people watch MMA and they think, oh, well, isn't boxing similar when it comes to picking fights and setting things up, etc.?
00:17:12.000 What's the main difference between the two when it comes to setting up fights?
00:17:16.000 Because for a lot of people, it's like, okay, it's a no-brainer.
00:17:17.000 Why aren't they fighting?
00:17:18.000 But it's politics involved.
00:17:19.000 So the one thing about it is it's politics and it's promotion companies.
00:17:24.000 You see the UFC. I have a lot of respect for the UFC, by the way.
00:17:27.000 I love how they run everything they're doing.
00:17:29.000 The best fight's the best.
00:17:30.000 They make fucking amazing events.
00:17:32.000 Yeah.
00:17:33.000 Boxing, you got PBC, you got Dazzin, you got Golden Boy, and now you got the Saudis.
00:17:39.000 Oh, yeah.
00:17:40.000 It's four different...
00:17:41.000 So, like...
00:17:44.000 The promotion companies, they don't want to share the pot.
00:17:46.000 Okay.
00:17:47.000 Imagine if we make a hundred million dollars or whatever, you gotta split it.
00:17:51.000 You know, it's 50-50.
00:17:52.000 Yeah.
00:17:53.000 I mean, it does make sense sometimes, but at the end of the day, they want to keep it within themselves.
00:17:57.000 Yeah.
00:17:57.000 You know what I mean?
00:17:58.000 And now it's getting a little bit better where the fighters come together and make the fights happen.
00:18:02.000 But if a fighter doesn't want to happen, like a fighter doesn't want to make the fight happen like Canelo, there's really nothing nobody could do about it.
00:18:07.000 Because Canelo's with my promotion company.
00:18:09.000 Oh.
00:18:10.000 He had signed a contract that he was going to have three fights.
00:18:14.000 First, what was it?
00:18:14.000 It was...
00:18:15.000 Charlo.
00:18:17.000 Caleb Plant?
00:18:18.000 Caleb Plant.
00:18:19.000 Charlo, and then I was supposed to be the third one.
00:18:21.000 It just never happened.
00:18:23.000 It just never happened.
00:18:24.000 And what the people, they tell me, like, bro, we can't force this guy to fight you.
00:18:28.000 Like, there's really nothing.
00:18:29.000 If he doesn't want to fight you, there's nothing we can do.
00:18:31.000 So I'm in the position right now, but I'm not really too bummed out about it.
00:18:36.000 You know what I mean?
00:18:36.000 I'm going to just keep doing what I'm doing.
00:18:37.000 At the end of the day, I'm not going nowhere.
00:18:38.000 I'm going to stay here.
00:18:39.000 If anything, when I keep winning and keep beating these guys impressively, the fight's going to be even bigger when it happens.
00:18:46.000 So...
00:18:47.000 If the Canelo fight doesn't happen, would you consider moving up in a weight class?
00:18:52.000 I am moving up in weight class.
00:18:54.000 This next fight, I'm moving up to weight class.
00:18:58.000 Before I say anything about the next fight, it's going to be fucking big.
00:19:01.000 Me and Gervonta Davis are fighting in a card together.
00:19:04.000 It's probably going to be the biggest card of the year.
00:19:07.000 I don't know when it's going to be.
00:19:09.000 Either June 15th or June 22nd.
00:19:12.000 I don't know where yet, but it's going to be big.
00:19:16.000 And then what did you ask me?
00:19:18.000 So who would you consider fighting?
00:19:20.000 Oh, so I'm going up in weight class.
00:19:21.000 So I'm fighting for another belt.
00:19:23.000 And that's going to put me in the number one spot to fight the winner.
00:19:27.000 Better be it than people.
00:19:28.000 So like I tell a lot of people, bro, like...
00:19:31.000 When I was growing up and I had this dream, my dream was never, oh, I'm going to fight Canelo, I'm going to be done.
00:19:38.000 It was never that.
00:19:38.000 My dream was being the best and being the greatest in my generation.
00:19:42.000 Yeah.
00:19:42.000 We should have a pole.
00:19:43.000 Is he scared of your reach?
00:19:45.000 Because you're a tall guy.
00:19:46.000 You're not short.
00:19:47.000 You're over six foot.
00:19:48.000 Is he scared of your reach?
00:19:49.000 Is it because your fighting style counter is his?
00:19:52.000 Is it like...
00:19:53.000 I think it's just that he knows I'm a dog, bro.
00:19:56.000 He knows it.
00:19:57.000 He sees it in my eyes that I want greatness.
00:19:59.000 They talk about the money.
00:20:00.000 I don't give a fuck about the money, bro.
00:20:01.000 I've been making a lot of money since I was young.
00:20:04.000 It's not that.
00:20:05.000 It's about becoming undisputed super middleweight champion of the world.
00:20:09.000 And I'm working on that.
00:20:11.000 This guy sees me.
00:20:11.000 I've barely started my training camp, but I've already been training for two months.
00:20:15.000 Nobody does that.
00:20:16.000 I'm here.
00:20:17.000 I'm focused.
00:20:17.000 I know what I want.
00:20:19.000 And I know what I want to accomplish.
00:20:20.000 And I got my son, too.
00:20:21.000 I want to show him that greatness can be achieved if you really dedicate yourself.
00:20:25.000 There should be a poll for these promotion companies where the audience says, hey, we want this fight to happen.
00:20:30.000 And the poll dictates who fights.
00:20:32.000 Well, that's been happening.
00:20:33.000 Yeah, that's been happening.
00:20:35.000 In boxing, in the world of boxing, that's the only thing they're talking about right now.
00:20:39.000 The thing is, somebody like David right now, he's a threat in boxing.
00:20:44.000 So for Canelo, he's taking a risk going up against somebody like him.
00:20:48.000 At the age of 27, we've been working in the gym, and he's cracking harder than most boys in that weight division that have been there for a long time, even all the way up to heavyweight.
00:20:58.000 So when you have somebody like that that's a threat, that's not worried about the money, and that's willing to actually get in there and put a performance on for the people, that just shows and proves that the man is willing to do whatever it takes because of the love of the sport for his people, for his family,
00:21:14.000 and to build a legacy.
00:21:16.000 That's what it really comes down to.
00:21:17.000 And then to be honest with you, when I heard that number, 150, 200 million, bro, not even Mayweather and Pacquiao got the...
00:21:24.000 What that sounds like to me is he's getting ready for retirement.
00:21:30.000 That's what it sounds like to me.
00:21:32.000 He knows it.
00:21:33.000 Canelo, he's getting ready to retire with that.
00:21:35.000 He knows it, bro.
00:21:35.000 I'm not coming to play, bro, and I'm not going to lay down for nobody.
00:21:38.000 That's why he's doing interviews saying like all...
00:21:40.000 I don't know if you guys are aware of it, but he gave the opportunity to Jaime Munguia.
00:21:44.000 Jaime Munguia is only his second fight at super middleweight.
00:21:48.000 He hasn't done nothing.
00:21:49.000 I've been here fucking...
00:21:51.000 I've been the gatekeeper, bro, fucking waiting for that opportunity.
00:21:55.000 And then the excuse was to Canelo that why he gave up Jaime Mungu the opportunity.
00:22:00.000 He's like, oh, because he's been really respectful.
00:22:02.000 Get the fuck out of here, bro.
00:22:04.000 Yo.
00:22:05.000 And he said he don't want to fight any other Mexicans.
00:22:08.000 Yeah.
00:22:09.000 I was going to ask that next.
00:22:10.000 If y'all did a fight in Mexico City or something, they'll go crazy.
00:22:12.000 So he did a press conference saying he was going to fight three more years.
00:22:18.000 Fire.
00:22:19.000 I don't know what he said.
00:22:20.000 And then he said, I'm not fighting a Mexican.
00:22:22.000 What does he do?
00:22:23.000 First thing he does is fight.
00:22:25.000 He's fighting a Mexican.
00:22:26.000 So I don't understand what this guy is saying, bro.
00:22:28.000 Like, honestly, I feel like he's just losing a lot of respect from his people, the boxing world.
00:22:32.000 But it is what it is, you know what I mean?
00:22:34.000 I just got to keep working and keep fighting for my spot.
00:22:37.000 Like I said, I'm not going nowhere.
00:22:38.000 I love this shit.
00:22:39.000 Yeah.
00:22:39.000 Actually, we got a video to play.
00:22:40.000 You guys can see what the camp is kind of looking like.
00:22:44.000 Get a little bit inside.
00:22:45.000 Yeah, if I was Canelo, I'd be scared too.
00:22:47.000 And recently, you met Jake Paul at Boxer Gym as well, right?
00:22:51.000 Yeah, he came through to say, what's up?
00:22:53.000 I've known Jake Paul for a while.
00:22:54.000 We message each other and stuff.
00:22:56.000 And I went to his fight in Phoenix when he was fighting Anderson Silva.
00:23:00.000 Him, he was really cool.
00:23:02.000 His brother was really cool.
00:23:03.000 His mother was really cool.
00:23:04.000 So I have a lot of respect for them.
00:23:05.000 And then he pulled up to the gym.
00:23:07.000 Mateo's the one that actually set that up.
00:23:08.000 That's dope.
00:23:09.000 So it was cool seeing him.
00:23:10.000 You know, respect for all his people, Andrew, all them people over there.
00:23:14.000 But I have a lot of respect for them.
00:23:15.000 And I'm just happy to be around these type of people.
00:23:19.000 Yeah.
00:23:20.000 Let's play it.
00:23:21.000 Yeah, let's play the video real quick, and then I got a question after.
00:23:25.000 Yeah, you can play it.
00:23:26.000 Just put the music.
00:23:26.000 It's fine, bro.
00:23:27.000 Don't worry about it.
00:23:29.000 Is it not sure?
00:23:35.000 Oh, hold on.
00:23:36.000 We're going to mute the tape.
00:23:37.000 We got you guys.
00:23:38.000 Yeah.
00:23:38.000 Look at that Miami Skyline, man.
00:23:40.000 Beautiful.
00:23:41.000 Motivated.
00:23:42.000 It gives me a clear sense of mind.
00:23:43.000 Makes me realize that my dreams are actually really close.
00:23:46.000 And just enjoying what God put on this earth for us, man.
00:23:49.000 What it's about.
00:23:49.000 It's a culture.
00:24:04.000 Let's go!
00:24:05.000 Hey, David's looking sharp.
00:24:06.000 My man's a monster.
00:24:08.000 Come on, he's looking good, baby.
00:24:09.000 He's so long, fat, fluid, having fun, good defense.
00:24:13.000 Looking good, man, for real.
00:24:15.000 It's the new Miami Pops in Fury.
00:24:17.000 It's a fucking amazing turnout, buddy.
00:24:19.000 We out here, 3.05, baby.
00:24:26.000 A lifestyle we like to show.
00:24:28.000 We like to box.
00:24:29.000 We like to train hard.
00:24:30.000 We like to enjoy our cars, all the stupid cars of life and luck.
00:24:34.000 Come on, come on.
00:24:36.000 Focus, focus.
00:24:38.000 Always come here ready to work, good spirits, good mindset, good mentality.
00:24:43.000 He has all the tools to success.
00:24:50.000 Let's go.
00:24:59.000 Boom.
00:25:02.000 Fire.
00:25:04.000 You go, Bills.
00:25:06.000 Uh, yeah.
00:25:06.000 No, I mean, obviously, uh, you know, you came to Miami to work.
00:25:09.000 A lot of people come here to party and just hang out and shit.
00:25:11.000 Like, you're here training every single day, going hard in the paint, so...
00:25:14.000 That's motivating.
00:25:15.000 Yeah.
00:25:15.000 So what do you think, bro?
00:25:16.000 Mike Tyson, Jake Paul.
00:25:18.000 To be honest with you, I'm going to tell you how it is.
00:25:22.000 Jake Paul, I have a lot of respect for Jake Paul because he's an influencer.
00:25:26.000 He started from Disney and worked his way up.
00:25:29.000 But when I see his training videos, bro, he's actually training like a professional boxer.
00:25:33.000 He is a professional boxer, but he's training like he really wants it.
00:25:36.000 A man that trains like that is dangerous because he has a dream to come true.
00:25:40.000 And only a dream that he answers to himself that he has to make it come true.
00:25:43.000 So...
00:25:45.000 It's going to be a tough fight.
00:25:46.000 You know, Mike Tyson is older, but don't get it fucked up.
00:25:49.000 Mike Tyson is still Mike Tyson.
00:25:51.000 The thing that I like about this fight is that Mike Tyson, he's going to get a fucking bag for this fight.
00:25:57.000 Of course.
00:25:58.000 He's going to get a lot of money, bro.
00:26:00.000 What are you thinking?
00:26:01.000 I don't want to say.
00:26:03.000 You don't want to say it?
00:26:04.000 No, I feel like the both men have to be sharp.
00:26:07.000 If Jake don't come prepared...
00:26:09.000 You know, it's going to be a tough fight for him.
00:26:10.000 If Mike don't come prepared, it's going to be a tough fight for him.
00:26:13.000 Jake has been improving every single fight, but Mike Tyson is still Mike Tyson.
00:26:16.000 You know, I'm still going to go.
00:26:17.000 I'm going to be there in support, but, you know, whatever happens, happens.
00:26:20.000 I feel like when...
00:26:21.000 I know a lot of people in boxing always ask me, who do you think is going to win?
00:26:23.000 I don't know.
00:26:24.000 I just hope it's a good fight.
00:26:25.000 You know what I mean?
00:26:26.000 So, I'm happy that Mike Tyson is able to still make that money from the fight.
00:26:30.000 I was shocked he took it.
00:26:32.000 Yeah.
00:26:32.000 Mike Tyson is a dog.
00:26:33.000 Mike Tyson is Mike Tyson.
00:26:35.000 That's the thing about it.
00:26:36.000 But, that's what I'm saying.
00:26:37.000 If Mike thinks he can fight, then...
00:26:39.000 What do you think, Mateo?
00:26:40.000 You gotta think about it like this, you know, Jake's a smart businessman, right?
00:26:43.000 Yeah.
00:26:44.000 So, in order to get somebody like Mike Tyson, you know, to fight against, if you think about it, and let's just say I drop a name right now, Shakur Stevenson.
00:26:53.000 Okay.
00:26:53.000 Do you know who that is?
00:26:55.000 I've seen his name before.
00:26:56.000 Do you know who that is?
00:26:57.000 No, I don't.
00:26:57.000 No, so to the average person, you don't know who that is.
00:26:59.000 But if you go to India, into some bad area or ghetto, and you say Mike Tyson, they're going to say, I know that person.
00:27:08.000 So think about the planet.
00:27:10.000 I see what you mean.
00:27:10.000 You see what Jake's doing?
00:27:12.000 Yeah.
00:27:12.000 He's setting it up in a way that, you know, he obviously got the money or he got the investors to be able to put this together correctly and maximize as much as possible because the name is the draw card.
00:27:23.000 And then by having Netflix involved to do the fight rather than any other platform that's going on...
00:27:30.000 Yeah, I was gonna ask you guys about that.
00:27:31.000 That's a big deal, you know what I mean?
00:27:32.000 Are any, cause like, you mentioned, I think there were four, Daz and Goldenboy, what was the other two again?
00:27:37.000 PBC. PBC and then?
00:27:38.000 And the Saudis, I don't know what they did.
00:27:40.000 Oh yeah, the Saudis.
00:27:41.000 Oh yes, yes, yes.
00:27:41.000 Like they're creating a whole boxing infrastructure over there, you're right.
00:27:44.000 To try to like compete with Dubai's like entertainment place.
00:27:48.000 Have you ever, like I've never seen this before, Netflix getting involved with boxing like this.
00:27:52.000 Never, I think it's just a new, it's a new, it's a new thing now.
00:27:57.000 Because even PBC is what Amazon.
00:28:00.000 So, I mean, these people, they have a lot of people that, you know, that tunes into their stuff, like around the world, you know, Amazon and Netflix.
00:28:09.000 So, I think that's just going to be overall bigger and better for this point.
00:28:12.000 Do you think streaming is the future, like pay-per-views are done now?
00:28:15.000 Yeah, I think so.
00:28:16.000 And then the also thing that I like about these deals that other people aren't really considering is that it's going to be harder to steal the pay-per-views.
00:28:26.000 Because if you think about it, Netflix and Amazon, they don't want to get their money taken from them.
00:28:30.000 They already have a secure infrastructure.
00:28:32.000 You have to have a membership to be able to even watch it so it's a secure.
00:28:36.000 Exactly.
00:28:37.000 So now that's even better for the fighters, you know?
00:28:40.000 So, and there's, bro, there's a lot of, I fought pay-per-view fights and most of them get stolen by the streams.
00:28:45.000 Yeah.
00:28:45.000 And every fighter, every pay-per-view counts because that's how you get your money.
00:28:49.000 Mateo, if I remember correctly, wasn't that one of your ideas for Netflix?
00:28:53.000 It was, yeah.
00:28:54.000 Remember, I spoke to you about it.
00:28:55.000 Yeah.
00:28:55.000 No, they're smart, bro.
00:28:57.000 Like, in the end of the day, you know, every single person that's around right now, you got Netflix on your phone, you got Netflix in your house.
00:29:04.000 So they're very smart on how they've organized it and orchestrated it to this way because boxing was dependent on HBO, Showtime, ESPN, and they're all diving now.
00:29:15.000 So now they're working on Amazon Prime and now they're working on Netflix, which are the two biggest platforms in the world, apart from YouTube.
00:29:24.000 But Streaming is the future, man.
00:29:27.000 It's crazy how conventional cable television is pretty much gone.
00:29:31.000 I mean, I remember you'd have to pay for the pay-per-view and watch, whether it was wrestling or boxing or whatever, maybe you had to pay for the pay-per-view.
00:29:39.000 Now it's like...
00:29:41.000 You know, you just stream it.
00:29:42.000 That's what it is.
00:29:43.000 From your phone.
00:29:43.000 Yeah, people don't watch TV anymore, man.
00:29:45.000 It's just, that's what it's come down to.
00:29:46.000 So, we had one of the guys you were training, actually, on CEO Network, my boy Peter.
00:29:51.000 He had a question for you.
00:29:51.000 He said, how many amateur fights did you have before you turned pro?
00:29:55.000 To be honest with you, that's where it gets funny for me, because I always never...
00:29:59.000 The way I was, bro, I was always a bigger kid.
00:30:01.000 I was always a fat kid.
00:30:02.000 I never made weight.
00:30:03.000 So I only had 15 amateur fights.
00:30:05.000 My dad used to be mad, super mad, because we used to go to the tournaments.
00:30:09.000 I'd be overweight.
00:30:09.000 There'd be nobody in my weight class, so that's why I would never fight.
00:30:12.000 But I was always in the gym working extremely hard.
00:30:15.000 When I got to, like, um...
00:30:17.000 I'm going to tell you a little story of how it happened, too.
00:30:19.000 My parents...
00:30:20.000 They divorced when I was like 7 years old and then my dad and my brother ended up taking off to California when I was like 10 to train with Freddie Roach.
00:30:30.000 So imagine I had trained my whole life up to this point so I had a whole time off.
00:30:35.000 Bro, I went from 160 all the way to 260.
00:30:39.000 Damn.
00:30:39.000 Eating everything, eating everything.
00:30:40.000 And I remember clearly, really vividly, I looked at myself in the mirror before I went to school one day and I was just so fucking chubby, bro.
00:30:47.000 My face is like this.
00:30:49.000 And I'm like, fuck.
00:30:50.000 I don't even know who the fuck I am no more.
00:30:51.000 You know what I mean?
00:30:52.000 I feel like I'm going to hit a point where I do something about my weight and I lose it or I just keep eating and I'll probably never come back from that.
00:30:59.000 I'm probably just never going to lose weight.
00:31:01.000 I'm going to be big and fat and all that.
00:31:03.000 Yeah.
00:31:03.000 So I told my mom, like, you know what?
00:31:05.000 It's time for me to go to California.
00:31:06.000 Like, I want to go out there to train.
00:31:08.000 And my mom understood, you know, because that's a big thing, too.
00:31:12.000 Like, obesity and stuff, and you don't work out, bro.
00:31:14.000 If you just leave it unattended, bro, you get to a point where there's no return.
00:31:18.000 Would you say your environment changed a lot, too, helped with that process?
00:31:21.000 Like, changing your environment?
00:31:22.000 Oh, yeah.
00:31:22.000 Yeah, because my mom, she wasn't, she wasn't, uh, didn't work out or nothing.
00:31:26.000 Like, that was just school.
00:31:27.000 And if you're done with school, that's it.
00:31:28.000 Yeah.
00:31:29.000 But, you know, I mean, I got to the point, and then I went to California.
00:31:33.000 That's when I met this guy.
00:31:35.000 And then this guy used to see me put in work, too.
00:31:37.000 I was a big, fat guy, red sweater.
00:31:40.000 I remember...
00:31:41.000 So my brother was a top, top.
00:31:43.000 He was a top amateur.
00:31:44.000 You know, everybody knew him.
00:31:45.000 Freddie Roach asked him to stay there so he could train him.
00:31:49.000 Freddie Roach...
00:31:49.000 Does your brother still fight now, or does he manage you?
00:31:51.000 Yeah, he still fights.
00:31:52.000 He fights in my cards.
00:31:53.000 Okay.
00:31:54.000 We'll get to that, too.
00:31:55.000 He...
00:31:57.000 My dad and my brother used to tell everybody at the gym, like, you think my son Jose is good?
00:32:01.000 Wait till you see my other son David.
00:32:03.000 I get to Cali and I'm a fucking fat bitch.
00:32:07.000 Who the fuck is this?
00:32:08.000 That's David.
00:32:10.000 That's the David you were telling me about?
00:32:11.000 Aw, come on.
00:32:12.000 And then that shit, like, I would turn red, bro.
00:32:14.000 I'm like, aw, yeah.
00:32:15.000 I'm like, wait till you guys fucking see me spar.
00:32:18.000 The first day of sparring, I spar some big fucking, big buff dude.
00:32:22.000 Beat the fuck out of him.
00:32:24.000 Easy.
00:32:25.000 And people, then that's when people start paying attention.
00:32:28.000 Then I started sparring.
00:32:30.000 I was 14 years old at this time, by the way.
00:32:32.000 14?
00:32:33.000 14.
00:32:33.000 I started sparring Lateef Coyote, Cruiserweight Champion.
00:32:36.000 Fucking put in work with him, throw down with him.
00:32:38.000 Kid Chocolate, the middleweight champion of the world, throw down with him.
00:32:42.000 Kelly Pavlik is an amazing middleweight.
00:32:45.000 He actually beat Jermaine Taylor.
00:32:47.000 I remember him.
00:32:48.000 Knocked him out nasty.
00:32:49.000 Fucking had great work with him.
00:32:51.000 And then after that, I got invited to Big Bear, 15 years old.
00:32:55.000 Started sparring with Gennady Golovkin.
00:32:57.000 That's before he even made his pro debut.
00:32:59.000 We had such great fucking sparring sessions, me and that guy.
00:33:02.000 And I give it up to Gennady Golovkin because when I think about role models, that's who I want to be.
00:33:06.000 He's very nice to his people, very helpful.
00:33:08.000 He wasn't cocky at all, but that motherfucker was a killer.
00:33:11.000 He was a fucking killer, bro.
00:33:13.000 You guys know Gennady Golovkin?
00:33:15.000 I've heard the name before, yeah.
00:33:17.000 Yes, yes.
00:33:17.000 Fucking, he was an animal.
00:33:19.000 Animal in the ring, but outside the ring, the nicest person.
00:33:22.000 So, this guy, bro, I started sparring him.
00:33:26.000 Before he even made his U.S. debut, he was from Kazakhstan.
00:33:29.000 This guy is a monster.
00:33:31.000 If you guys knew boxing, you'd understand the severity of who Golovkin was.
00:33:35.000 Fucking monster, bro.
00:33:36.000 And then I ended up being his main sparring partner.
00:33:39.000 So from 16 to 19 years old, I was working with that guy.
00:33:43.000 Working, working.
00:33:43.000 Every sparring session me and him had were real fights.
00:33:46.000 They weren't sparring sessions.
00:33:47.000 They were real fights.
00:33:48.000 So by the time I ended up figuring this guy out, everybody else became easy.
00:33:53.000 And that's what I'm saying.
00:33:54.000 I'm very grateful for Golovkin because he himself put me on a different level.
00:33:58.000 Well, I can tell just how you meet people, interact.
00:34:01.000 You're very humble, very kind.
00:34:03.000 Even in the elevator, you're like, hey, is that your kids?
00:34:05.000 I have kids too as well.
00:34:06.000 Yeah.
00:34:06.000 Very social.
00:34:07.000 I think that's very good, bro.
00:34:08.000 I just feel like, bro, sometimes some people try to act tough because they're really scared.
00:34:14.000 You know what I mean?
00:34:15.000 Yeah.
00:34:15.000 I feel like I get to live the best of both worlds.
00:34:18.000 I get to be very friendly.
00:34:19.000 I get to be very kind.
00:34:21.000 But if you fuck around with me, I'm going to fuck you up.
00:34:23.000 You know what I mean?
00:34:24.000 That's how I should be, bro.
00:34:26.000 I'm not out here trying to act tough.
00:34:27.000 I'm actually trying to help my people.
00:34:30.000 There's some people, bro, that are just really big-headed.
00:34:34.000 There's a lot of ego.
00:34:36.000 Sometimes when you take ego out of the situation, you get to live your life more comfortably.
00:34:40.000 You get to make better decisions.
00:34:42.000 Well said.
00:34:43.000 How important is it to spar often?
00:34:46.000 I mean, obviously that's like the cornerstone of boxing, but I think people kind of underrate how important that is versus just hitting mitts.
00:34:52.000 No, sparring is not only hitting, it's catching the timing, working footwork.
00:34:57.000 There's a whole science to it, bro.
00:35:00.000 And then also, too, you start to, in sparring, You feel that.
00:35:06.000 And it's something different about when you're a top level fighter.
00:35:09.000 Like with me, you go in there, you let that animal out.
00:35:12.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:35:13.000 And, you know, you got to practice that.
00:35:15.000 You got to practice being that killer.
00:35:17.000 You got to practice fucking not caring about people and beating the shit out of them.
00:35:20.000 Because how I say it, it's either they get me or I get them.
00:35:23.000 You know, and I'm never going to let them get me.
00:35:25.000 You know, they're always going to be the ones getting taken out.
00:35:28.000 So it's always just practicing that, you know, just on...
00:35:30.000 Sometimes you don't even got to work hard, but just, you know, practicing the shots, head movement, defense.
00:35:36.000 There's a lot of stuff that goes into it.
00:35:37.000 You know, it's really technical.
00:35:39.000 I was going to ask you, so you said you spar like every day, right?
00:35:42.000 No, no, no.
00:35:42.000 I spar three times a day.
00:35:43.000 Wednesday, Wednesday, Friday.
00:35:45.000 Monday, Wednesday, Friday.
00:35:45.000 Okay, so...
00:35:46.000 Like our schedule.
00:35:47.000 Yeah.
00:35:49.000 So, Monday, Wednesday, Friday, you spar, and then Tuesdays and Thursdays, you're doing, like, lifting weights or running?
00:35:54.000 So, I'm training boxing throughout the whole week, and then, yeah, it's Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, we do strained and conditioning.
00:36:02.000 Because also, too, boxing and training takes a toll on the body.
00:36:07.000 Strained and conditioning, shout out to Earl, what's his last name?
00:36:09.000 Earl Wolf.
00:36:10.000 Earl Wolf, he's a fucking beast.
00:36:12.000 He used to play in the NFL. Mm-hmm.
00:36:13.000 He gets my body right, bro.
00:36:16.000 My legs, everything.
00:36:17.000 That guy is a beast at everything.
00:36:19.000 And also, shout out to Memo Heredia.
00:36:21.000 Shout out to all my people who have been training me for a long, long time.
00:36:23.000 And it takes a toll out of your body.
00:36:28.000 And as time goes by, you know, I have 25 years boxing.
00:36:33.000 Now it's not really more about putting in the work as hard.
00:36:35.000 It's about letting your body recover.
00:36:38.000 So, when you're sparring, like, is it like...
00:36:42.000 You're just free fighting or is it like, okay, I'm going to work on the hook here.
00:36:46.000 I'm going to work on the jab.
00:36:47.000 We're going to work on this.
00:36:48.000 It depends on the person.
00:36:49.000 It depends how I feel.
00:36:50.000 It depends how hard the sparring is.
00:36:52.000 I was going to ask, how often are you hard sparring?
00:36:55.000 Even today, you got some cuts from sparring?
00:36:57.000 Yeah, there's cuts from sparring.
00:36:59.000 Some good shit.
00:37:01.000 At the end of the day, bro, if you're scared of getting hit, getting marks on your face, this shit is not for you, brother.
00:37:08.000 I wear this shit as a fucking, as a prize, man.
00:37:11.000 I love what I do.
00:37:13.000 I love people to see me, but damn, that guy's fucking, he really goes in.
00:37:16.000 You know what I mean?
00:37:17.000 So this is just the price you have to pay sometimes.
00:37:19.000 You know what I mean?
00:37:19.000 Sometimes you be sore as fuck, you can't go, but you tell yourself, you know, I'm not going to give up.
00:37:23.000 It's a sacrifice, man.
00:37:25.000 Even in the sparring and in the training, people don't realize the fight is the easy part.
00:37:31.000 It's staying consistent mentally plus physically throughout that camp time that he was explaining, that 11 weeks.
00:37:39.000 And then you've got to try and avoid injuries at the same time.
00:37:43.000 And that's why he's saying as you get to that higher standard, recovery is so important.
00:37:47.000 And at the same time, you don't know what you're up against in sparring.
00:37:50.000 It could be light sparring, it could be heavy sparring.
00:37:53.000 I was gonna ask, how often are you hard sparring?
00:37:55.000 When I get towards the end, like seven, eight weeks, it's all hard.
00:37:58.000 It's all hard.
00:37:59.000 It's all hard.
00:37:59.000 It just depends if I'm friends with the guy or whatever.
00:38:03.000 You see some of the best shots inspiring.
00:38:05.000 A lot of fighters can actually practice things that you wouldn't necessarily do in the fight.
00:38:12.000 You can get creative inside the ring.
00:38:15.000 It's like getting a painting.
00:38:17.000 Before it goes out, you can actually practice on it and then do the final copy.
00:38:21.000 So, is there danger in sparring?
00:38:23.000 Because, for example, there was a fight between, I think it was Tank and Ryan Garcia.
00:38:28.000 Yeah.
00:38:29.000 And someone said there was a leak with Ryan's injury that he was seen in sparring with the injury.
00:38:34.000 And they told, well, I don't know if it's true, Tank, about that injury.
00:38:37.000 Is that a real thing in sparring?
00:38:39.000 Yeah, the thing, yeah, bro.
00:38:40.000 Sometimes you get hit with shots and, you know, like, even, like, I got a little cut, you know, I'm getting cut here.
00:38:45.000 At the end of the day, it's still a fight.
00:38:47.000 But at the end of the day, they're still trying to knock you off.
00:38:48.000 Sometimes, like Ryan, in his case, he said he got hit with a body shirt.
00:38:52.000 I don't know what it was.
00:38:52.000 His ribs were split or something.
00:38:55.000 That does happen.
00:38:56.000 Hand injuries, body injuries.
00:38:57.000 Sometimes you get hit to the body and you feel like this shit's broken, but it's not.
00:39:01.000 It's just bruised.
00:39:02.000 So it's just different stuff, and that's where recovery comes in place.
00:39:05.000 You know what I mean?
00:39:05.000 But there's been times, bro, where I fucking rolled my ankle running bad.
00:39:09.000 Oh, shit.
00:39:10.000 There's been a couple times, actually.
00:39:12.000 Hand injuries, this and that, but...
00:39:15.000 If it's really up to the training camp and the trainers, if they think you can't go on with the show, then cancel it.
00:39:22.000 If there's still enough time where you can recover and then go into the fight, then it's really up to the team and the manager.
00:39:30.000 Okay, I got to know, bro.
00:39:31.000 What is going on with Ryan Garcia?
00:39:33.000 Is he okay?
00:39:34.000 Is he okay, bro?
00:39:35.000 The Bohemian Grove and everything else like that.
00:39:36.000 Yeah, bro, what's going on with that guy, man?
00:39:37.000 To be honest with you, Ryan Garcia, I know him personally...
00:39:42.000 I feel like it's just promotion, bro.
00:39:44.000 I feel like it's just promotion.
00:39:45.000 I don't feel like he's doing it the right way, though, because he's talking about some topics that are really crazy, you know what I mean?
00:39:52.000 Maybe in his head he's trying to bring light to those situations, and I don't know what he's doing, but when the fight happens...
00:40:01.000 I think that shit's going to sell a lot.
00:40:03.000 We can see.
00:40:03.000 Because people are going to be like, is Ryan good?
00:40:05.000 Is he not good?
00:40:06.000 But I feel like it's all calculated from him.
00:40:09.000 Marketing.
00:40:09.000 It's all marketing.
00:40:09.000 It's all marketing.
00:40:10.000 And me, personally, I don't think that's doing it the right way.
00:40:14.000 Yeah.
00:40:14.000 There's other ways to go about it, right?
00:40:17.000 I've never seen anyone kind of go that route of, you know, I was at the Bohemian Grove.
00:40:21.000 He doesn't see it.
00:40:23.000 Yeah, it's a first.
00:40:24.000 I ain't gonna lie.
00:40:24.000 That's crazy, though, bro.
00:40:26.000 Yeah, he's been going wild on Twitter.
00:40:28.000 But you know what?
00:40:28.000 I feel like with him, he knows how to keep his name in the headlines.
00:40:32.000 Yeah, that's true.
00:40:33.000 I heard him on Clubhouse.
00:40:34.000 He's saying some wild shit.
00:40:35.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:40:36.000 I'm like, I guess.
00:40:37.000 I mean, I guess.
00:40:38.000 He's probably gonna make a bag, so I don't know.
00:40:40.000 Definitely unorthodox.
00:40:41.000 Yeah, I can read some of these chats real quick.
00:40:45.000 We got here...
00:40:47.000 Mr.
00:40:47.000 Ransom.
00:40:48.000 David Benavidez on Fresh and Fit.
00:40:50.000 This is going to be a good one.
00:40:51.000 Is he staying for the after hours?
00:40:53.000 No.
00:40:54.000 He's the wife of the kids, guys.
00:40:55.000 Also, Canelo is a pussy for ducking the fight.
00:40:57.000 Hey, man.
00:40:58.000 He's scared, bro.
00:41:00.000 We have here, Jack.
00:41:01.000 David, would you ever move up to 175 after beating Canelo?
00:41:04.000 Do you think Bival or Biter Viv would be great fights?
00:41:07.000 Definitely killing it with the guest 2024.
00:41:10.000 Yeah, so this fight right now that I'm going to fight at 175 is fighting for the interim belt.
00:41:15.000 It's going to put me in position to fight for the winner of Berger, Bia, and Bivol.
00:41:18.000 And like I said, bro, I don't think that fight with Canelo is going to happen.
00:41:22.000 So I got to move on with my career.
00:41:24.000 And these guys, the ones at 175, they're some killers.
00:41:27.000 So now my mind is 100% set on them, focus on them, and we'll see what happens.
00:41:32.000 I've worked with Bivol before.
00:41:34.000 We have some good sparrings with him.
00:41:36.000 So I heard.
00:41:37.000 It's going to be good.
00:41:38.000 But at the end of the day, what I want to tell people is sometimes these fights or whatever it might be going in your life, if it sounds scary, the leap forward, it might seem scary.
00:41:49.000 But that's why you have to do it.
00:41:51.000 Because the greatness and what's going to be achieved on the other side is much more greater than you being scared.
00:41:56.000 Damn.
00:41:56.000 Absolutely.
00:41:57.000 It's powerful.
00:41:58.000 What else do we got here?
00:42:00.000 Fresh and Fit attorney goes, anytime a fat goblin hobbit chick introduces herself on After Hours, Chris and Moe put, I'm an optimist, bro.
00:42:08.000 Oh, my God.
00:42:10.000 Jay's Todd goes, David, can you name what you think is one of Gervonta's greatest weaknesses in the ring?
00:42:17.000 Gervonta's.
00:42:18.000 That's hard, bro.
00:42:19.000 Gervonta is the best in the world for a reason.
00:42:22.000 I don't know, to be honest with you.
00:42:24.000 I don't know.
00:42:24.000 I think he's a complete fighter.
00:42:27.000 Who was your toughest fight?
00:42:28.000 My toughest fight?
00:42:32.000 There's been a couple of them, bro.
00:42:33.000 Anthony Durrell was tough because he was really seasoned.
00:42:36.000 I fought him when I was 22 years old.
00:42:39.000 Okay, my toughest fight is when I fought for the world champion.
00:42:42.000 I'm going to give you the whole rundown of the story before that happened.
00:42:45.000 So I get called.
00:42:47.000 I'm fighting through the ranks.
00:42:49.000 I'm number two, number three.
00:42:51.000 Then somebody was supposed to fight, but then that fight got canceled, and then they put me in there for the world title fight.
00:42:56.000 So I'm in Big Bear.
00:42:56.000 I'm fucking working in Extreme Yord.
00:42:58.000 Two weeks before the fight, I get a call.
00:43:01.000 My uncle dies.
00:43:02.000 So that fucked me up mentally in my head.
00:43:05.000 It was hard to go through that, bro.
00:43:07.000 But in my head, I'm thinking, what if he wouldn't want me to stop?
00:43:10.000 He would want me to keep going.
00:43:12.000 The week of that fight, I swear to God to you, bro, I had a fucking...
00:43:15.000 I'm making weight.
00:43:16.000 I'm laying down.
00:43:17.000 I have a nightmare where I have a demon putting a pillow over my face and trying to kill me.
00:43:22.000 Or he was choking me.
00:43:23.000 And I wake up with a pillow on my face like that.
00:43:26.000 So I was like, what the fuck, bro?
00:43:28.000 And then I get the worst flu I've ever had.
00:43:31.000 Flu, cold, food, poison.
00:43:32.000 I don't know what it was.
00:43:34.000 So it was extremely hard for me, bro.
00:43:35.000 It was even hard for me to move.
00:43:39.000 We made weight.
00:43:40.000 We hydrated.
00:43:41.000 And I still fought.
00:43:42.000 And I still won the belt.
00:43:43.000 You know what I mean?
00:43:44.000 So that was probably the toughest.
00:43:45.000 It's not because of...
00:43:47.000 The fighter, but because of everything I went through.
00:43:49.000 I mean, it was my uncle, you know what I mean?
00:43:51.000 I love my uncle, my mother's brother.
00:43:53.000 And that shit just alone, bro, you're trying to prepare for the biggest fight of your life.
00:43:57.000 And then that hits you, bro, literally two weeks before the fight, two or three weeks.
00:44:02.000 That shit just fucked me up, but like I said, bro, I'm going to do this for my family.
00:44:06.000 I know he's not here with us no more, but I know he would want me to continue, and he wouldn't want me to break down.
00:44:11.000 So I kept it up and became world champion.
00:44:13.000 That's God's chosen, man.
00:44:14.000 20 years old, the youngest to ever do it at this weight class.
00:44:17.000 Yeah, that's what's up, man.
00:44:18.000 This shit's heavy, man.
00:44:19.000 I'm not going to lie, it's just heavy, bro.
00:44:21.000 What else we got here?
00:44:23.000 Okay, what advice could you give to an amateur boxer looking to compete and win on a national scale?
00:44:28.000 How do I develop the courage to compete with the best?
00:44:31.000 Isaiah Uchiha.
00:44:32.000 So to be honest with you bro, how you go about that is you got to really make the decision if this is what you want for your life.
00:44:39.000 If this is what you want for your life, you want to be a world champion.
00:44:43.000 Once you make that and your mind up about that, every single day, Work as hard as you can.
00:44:49.000 Stay off your fucking phone.
00:44:51.000 Don't be on Instagram.
00:44:52.000 Don't be on Twitter.
00:44:53.000 Don't be on none of that.
00:44:54.000 If you really want to be on your phone, watch nothing but boxers.
00:44:58.000 Learn.
00:44:59.000 You know, I feel like this is a big issue with the youth today.
00:45:02.000 They're fucking getting brainwashed with their phone and they don't even know it.
00:45:05.000 They see TikTok and all this shit, but they're not gaining nothing from it.
00:45:10.000 And I know kids are watching.
00:45:11.000 I have cousins.
00:45:12.000 I have all this.
00:45:13.000 They watch bullshit all fucking day.
00:45:15.000 So if you really want to be the best, instead of watching bullshit, watch boxing all day.
00:45:19.000 That's what I do now.
00:45:20.000 What fight would you recommend people to watch, to learn, as far as like...
00:45:25.000 I mean, every fight's going to have something that you can learn from.
00:45:27.000 You can learn from mistakes, etc.
00:45:28.000 But what do you think is one of the most educational fights?
00:45:30.000 One of the most educational fights that shows what type of heart you need to have to be a champion is Diego Corrales versus Castillo 1.
00:45:37.000 That's a fight.
00:45:38.000 You seen that?
00:45:39.000 No.
00:45:39.000 No, I've never seen that fight.
00:45:40.000 You guys need to watch that fight.
00:45:41.000 That is by...
00:45:42.000 Hold on, I'm going to write that down.
00:45:43.000 Diego Corrales versus Castillo.
00:45:46.000 All right.
00:45:48.000 That is the best, the greatest display of heart, will, never giving up.
00:45:53.000 This man, he was Diego Corrales, you know, God rest his soul, he's not with us no more.
00:45:58.000 He was, these are fights I watched growing up.
00:46:01.000 He was dropped three or four times.
00:46:03.000 They were about to stop at the last round and he comes back and stops the guy in the 10th round.
00:46:06.000 Wow.
00:46:07.000 Amazing.
00:46:08.000 So if you really want to learn how to be a technician, watch Mayweather's fights.
00:46:12.000 Mayweather will teach you how to be a technician.
00:46:15.000 Yeah.
00:46:15.000 That dude is so good.
00:46:17.000 But going back...
00:46:18.000 What's your thoughts on the Philly Shell?
00:46:20.000 I like it.
00:46:21.000 I use it.
00:46:22.000 You use it?
00:46:22.000 Okay.
00:46:23.000 So these defenses, they're not there for no reason.
00:46:26.000 Yeah.
00:46:26.000 The Philly Shell competes with the regular guard because this guard right here, as you can see, you can hit the body.
00:46:34.000 Yep.
00:46:35.000 You can hit the uppercut.
00:46:35.000 If you're really advanced, you know how to go around that.
00:46:39.000 But with the Philly Shell, it blocks the body.
00:46:42.000 Both sides.
00:46:43.000 You can catch the jab.
00:46:45.000 You can catch the hook.
00:46:46.000 And you have to use head movement.
00:46:48.000 So it's a lot of skills again, bro.
00:46:51.000 You have to learn how to do this.
00:46:52.000 This shit just doesn't come overnight.
00:46:53.000 But they're really...
00:46:54.000 The Philly show is really effective.
00:46:56.000 Yeah.
00:46:57.000 Very effective.
00:46:57.000 I just watched Floyd do it all day and I'm just like, what the Very effective, but if you see it, he's not just blocking like this.
00:47:02.000 He's using his legs, he's using his head movement, he's using a lot of shit.
00:47:05.000 Distributes his whole weight.
00:47:06.000 That's what I'm saying.
00:47:06.000 If somebody wants to learn how to box, watch Mayweather.
00:47:09.000 He's so technical and he does everything great.
00:47:11.000 Yeah.
00:47:12.000 Wow.
00:47:13.000 It's not all about power, huh?
00:47:14.000 Yeah, no.
00:47:15.000 It's not.
00:47:16.000 Honestly, sometimes you have to set up shots to get the power shot.
00:47:20.000 The power shot is not the most important part.
00:47:22.000 The most important part is setting up the power shot.
00:47:25.000 Sometimes you want to throw up here to keep their hands up here so you go downstairs.
00:47:30.000 Or you fucking touch up here to go up here.
00:47:33.000 It's a thinking man's game, bro.
00:47:36.000 It's a game with chess in there.
00:47:38.000 It's calculated.
00:47:39.000 We have this guy now, Jim.
00:47:40.000 He's a Miami legend.
00:47:43.000 He's a world legend in boxing.
00:47:45.000 Regan Dowd.
00:47:46.000 So he's doing his camp at Boxer right now.
00:47:49.000 He's one of our favorite fighters of all time.
00:47:52.000 Even if you just watch him, he's a very lightweight fighter.
00:47:56.000 Bro, I'm going to give you a list of names of the boxers.
00:47:58.000 Okay, yeah.
00:47:59.000 Because I'd be watching.
00:48:00.000 I'd be actually watching.
00:48:01.000 And when you see this guy at 40 years old and the way he moves and distributes the punches, the man cracks like a welterweight, you know?
00:48:08.000 And he's coming at 120, 119, 120, 124.
00:48:12.000 This guy's three-time gold medalist.
00:48:14.000 In the Olympic Games.
00:48:15.000 Shit.
00:48:15.000 Bro, that's 12 years already, right there.
00:48:18.000 You have to be an amateur.
00:48:19.000 Plus, how much belts you win?
00:48:20.000 Like six, seven?
00:48:21.000 Six or seven belts, man.
00:48:22.000 He's a legend, bro.
00:48:23.000 He's a living legend.
00:48:24.000 And, you know, we sit there, we watch, and we see him in real life, and it's like, damn, you know, you learn a lot of these different styles and arsenals, and you implement it into your own craft.
00:48:33.000 You don't necessarily have to...
00:48:34.000 What was his name again?
00:48:35.000 Regan Docs.
00:48:36.000 It's called Regan Docs.
00:48:37.000 Is he American?
00:48:38.000 He fought for Cuba?
00:48:40.000 Yeah.
00:48:40.000 Okay.
00:48:41.000 It's spelled kind of weird, so...
00:48:43.000 But also, the thing I wanted to tell a lot of people too, bro, especially young kids.
00:48:48.000 Bro, with me, it was never a sure thing for me, bro.
00:48:50.000 I didn't even want to box.
00:48:51.000 I almost gave up like three times.
00:48:52.000 The only reason I didn't is my dad didn't let me.
00:48:56.000 My dad was a tyrant.
00:48:57.000 He was not going to let me stop boxing.
00:48:59.000 That's why I give all the credit to my dad because if it wasn't for that man, bro, I don't know where I'd be.
00:49:03.000 He knew he had a plan.
00:49:05.000 He's like, I'm not going to let you stop boxing.
00:49:07.000 And...
00:49:08.000 I didn't like boxing, bro.
00:49:09.000 I honestly thought my dad hated me because I'm four years old, wake up five in the morning, run fucking two miles, go to school, come back, train.
00:49:19.000 It was like that my whole childhood.
00:49:20.000 I don't have a childhood.
00:49:21.000 I don't remember a childhood.
00:49:22.000 The only thing I remember is Getting my ass beat because I didn't want to train.
00:49:27.000 Running, training, sparring, and that's it.
00:49:31.000 Did you ever work a job?
00:49:32.000 No.
00:49:32.000 No, I never worked a job.
00:49:33.000 And that's why I'm very grateful for my dad.
00:49:36.000 I'm very grateful for my father.
00:49:38.000 Sometimes, as kids, we don't know where we're going to end up.
00:49:42.000 But as long as you fucking put 110% of it.
00:49:45.000 That's what I'm saying.
00:49:46.000 With me, I didn't know I was going to be world champion, bro.
00:49:48.000 I thought it was far-fetched.
00:49:50.000 But I say, you know what?
00:49:51.000 I'm going to take the chance.
00:49:52.000 I'm going to work my ass off.
00:49:53.000 And if it doesn't work out, it's fine, bro.
00:49:55.000 The only thing that...
00:49:56.000 If I don't put 100% into it and I walk away, that's what's going to fuck me up in the future.
00:50:02.000 I grew up in a household like that, too, where my dad pushed me a lot, and I grew up hating him.
00:50:06.000 But then as I became older, I started to appreciate and say, God damn.
00:50:09.000 It's a real man.
00:50:10.000 Yeah, thank you.
00:50:11.000 Do you think the reason why your father pushed you so hard was, you mentioned that he was involved in criminal activity before.
00:50:17.000 Was it to keep you away from the streets, you think?
00:50:19.000 Yeah.
00:50:20.000 Why he pushed you so hard?
00:50:20.000 100%.
00:50:21.000 That's what I'm saying.
00:50:23.000 My dad knew exactly what it was.
00:50:25.000 You know, and I have a lot of respect for him because of that.
00:50:28.000 Because when I was growing up, I didn't know that.
00:50:30.000 But now that I see how the streets are, I see how people are, bro.
00:50:33.000 My dad, at the end of the day, was just protecting us.
00:50:35.000 And he didn't want us to go the wrong route that he had went.
00:50:39.000 Okay.
00:50:40.000 Yeah.
00:50:40.000 No, I mean, it's so...
00:50:42.000 People really underestimate the importance of fathers, man.
00:50:45.000 I've always said, like, a good dad will keep their sons out of jail and their daughters off shore poles.
00:50:48.000 And that's a perfect example.
00:50:49.000 You know, obviously, he instilled that mindset in you.
00:50:54.000 Is he like your manager now?
00:50:56.000 Yeah, I still train with him.
00:50:57.000 He's just in Seattle right now.
00:51:00.000 So we made a move to Seattle.
00:51:02.000 And then another thing I'm proud about too, my dad bought his house.
00:51:04.000 He has a gym.
00:51:05.000 He has everything.
00:51:06.000 Because I made him a lot of money.
00:51:09.000 And that's why I'm so proud of that not only I am able to live good, but my dad is living fucking comfortably.
00:51:15.000 You know what I mean?
00:51:16.000 So he's over there.
00:51:19.000 He's doing his thing.
00:51:20.000 What do you do for work while you were growing up?
00:51:22.000 Me?
00:51:23.000 No, your dad.
00:51:23.000 Oh, he was a trainer.
00:51:26.000 My dad's a hustler, bro.
00:51:27.000 I remember my dad used to sell fucking cigars, sell cigarettes.
00:51:31.000 He used to sell a whole bunch.
00:51:32.000 We used to go to California.
00:51:33.000 We used to buy the bootleg movies.
00:51:35.000 My dad made me hit the block, sell the whole movies.
00:51:38.000 I wasn't good at it.
00:51:39.000 My brother was good at selling the movies.
00:51:41.000 My dad used to make me sell chocolates.
00:51:43.000 Even when the girls came out, we'd go to California, get them, make me hit the whole fucking block where I lived.
00:51:52.000 And I never did none of that.
00:51:53.000 I would eat the chocolates, I'd wear the grills.
00:51:57.000 But they make good money like that.
00:51:59.000 And then my dad ended up being a manager at a gym in Central Boxing Gym.
00:52:05.000 Shout out to Central Boxing Gym.
00:52:06.000 That's why I had all my youth of boxing in Phoenix, Arizona.
00:52:09.000 And now I'm really proud because they did a mural of me, my father, my brother outside the gym.
00:52:15.000 It's really dope.
00:52:16.000 So, yeah, man.
00:52:18.000 My dad, he was always going to get it regardless.
00:52:21.000 So I always liked about my dad.
00:52:22.000 He always made opportunities for himself and for us.
00:52:26.000 Gotcha.
00:52:27.000 Do you have something?
00:52:28.000 Any more chats?
00:52:29.000 Yeah.
00:52:29.000 Was there any more chats?
00:52:31.000 Okay.
00:52:32.000 Okay.
00:52:32.000 Question for David.
00:52:33.000 And guys, get your questions in now because we're going to end the show soon.
00:52:37.000 Question for David.
00:52:38.000 What are your thoughts on the future of boxing as a sport and what's the most challenging aspect of being a boxer?
00:52:42.000 It's a good one.
00:52:44.000 I feel like the future of boxing right now is getting extremely huge because now, back then...
00:52:50.000 You wouldn't see fighters making $100 million, $200 million.
00:52:54.000 Now it's more revolving on Canelo asked for $200 million.
00:52:58.000 If it ever happens, he might get it.
00:53:01.000 Mayweather, McGregor, Jake Paul.
00:53:04.000 So now it's more, we have a bigger audience now.
00:53:08.000 You know, and now a lot of people could really make a lot of money off of this, bro.
00:53:14.000 So I feel like the future of boxing is...
00:53:15.000 Yeah, YouTubers are getting into it like it's huge.
00:53:17.000 Yeah, that's a good thing, bro.
00:53:19.000 That's why I never had a problem with the YouTubers getting into boxing.
00:53:22.000 At the end of the day...
00:53:23.000 If we can motivate somebody to get in the ring and actually do it themselves, that's what we want.
00:53:28.000 Sometimes people give YouTubers shit because they're making a lot of money, but bro, they're looking up to us.
00:53:32.000 That's why they're in the sport.
00:53:33.000 I think it brings more awareness to the sport.
00:53:35.000 More awareness, for example, of boxing itself.
00:53:37.000 Because some kids will never get into it, but seeing their favorite creator get into boxing is like, oh wow, this is dope.
00:53:41.000 Because I remember before, there was always the criticism, oh, boxing's a dying sport, blah, blah, blah.
00:53:45.000 But I think with the whole social media...
00:53:53.000 Yeah.
00:53:54.000 Yeah.
00:54:09.000 Yeah, and you gotta remember, like, it's not just men, too.
00:54:11.000 You got a lot of women doing it now.
00:54:13.000 You got kids doing it.
00:54:15.000 You got everybody doing boxing.
00:54:17.000 Yep.
00:54:17.000 It's universal for everybody.
00:54:19.000 Right.
00:54:20.000 So...
00:54:20.000 Dude, but 28 and 0 is crazy, bro.
00:54:22.000 Yes.
00:54:23.000 Question, what is the minimum amount of, I guess, wins you should have, amateur, before you go pro, you think?
00:54:28.000 There's none.
00:54:28.000 None?
00:54:29.000 There's no...
00:54:29.000 Like me, I only had 15 fights, and I turned pro.
00:54:32.000 It's just, if you're ready to go professional, you're ready to go professional.
00:54:35.000 There's some kids, bro, in New Mexico, 15 years old.
00:54:38.000 They don't have the ways to make money, so boxing provides them with the money, and they feed their family, and these kids don't have no amateur experience.
00:54:46.000 Wow.
00:54:47.000 So it just really depends on where you're at.
00:54:50.000 What's the process like?
00:54:52.000 Is there like a board?
00:54:54.000 Do you declare, I want to go professional?
00:54:55.000 How do you make that transition?
00:54:57.000 You apply for a professional book or a professional license.
00:55:01.000 You have to have a team and if they approve it, you just do the test, scan your head, all that stuff.
00:55:06.000 If you're fit to fight, you're fit to fight.
00:55:10.000 You see the YouTubers, they're fighting.
00:55:14.000 Greatest fighter of all time in your books?
00:55:16.000 It's a couple, brother.
00:55:17.000 Top three?
00:55:19.000 Oscar De La Hoya, I love him.
00:55:21.000 Manny Pacquiao.
00:55:24.000 Roberto Duran.
00:55:26.000 Roy Jones Jr.
00:55:29.000 Julio Cesar Chavez.
00:55:31.000 Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, the list goes on and on, bro.
00:55:34.000 I really love boxing, so I know about all these boxers, but there's just been so much great.
00:55:40.000 And I'm just, in this position I'm in, I'm very happy for myself to even be in the same, you know, doing the same thing that my idols were doing when they were my age.
00:55:51.000 Do you think Tyson's going to bring the peekaboo style when he fights Jake?
00:55:54.000 Or is he going to switch it up?
00:55:55.000 No, he's not going to switch it up.
00:55:58.000 I don't know.
00:55:58.000 That's why I'm asking because I don't see anybody do it anymore.
00:56:00.000 So I was wondering, is he going to...
00:56:02.000 I mean, I don't think so.
00:56:04.000 I think Mike Tyson, he's always liked his style.
00:56:06.000 His style is very effective.
00:56:07.000 And the best person to do his style is Mike Tyson.
00:56:10.000 So I think he's going to stick with it.
00:56:11.000 Tyson's special, man.
00:56:13.000 Who utilizes it now, you would say, the best?
00:56:16.000 Pitbull.
00:56:17.000 Pitbull, yeah, exactly.
00:56:18.000 Pitbull...
00:56:19.000 You know, so like with boxing, there's like a lot of trends.
00:56:23.000 So back then when Mayweather was fighting, everybody wanted to have the Philly shell.
00:56:28.000 Then Lomachenko came up.
00:56:30.000 You know Lomachenko?
00:56:30.000 Yes.
00:56:31.000 His angles and all that.
00:56:32.000 And then you see kids turning to that.
00:56:33.000 So it's just like a trend, bro.
00:56:35.000 You know, people, that's a cool thing.
00:56:38.000 Sometimes there's a fighter that comes in the generation that just motivates the whole boxing world.
00:56:42.000 You know what I mean?
00:56:43.000 So it's different.
00:56:43.000 There's people that have the Julio Cesar Chavez style.
00:56:47.000 Golovkin style, Mayweather, and Lomachenko.
00:56:50.000 What would you say are the main styles?
00:56:54.000 Because obviously Mexicans fight a certain way, Russians fight a certain way, Americans have their style, Cubans have their own style.
00:56:59.000 What is the differentiation between the two for an average view that I might not know?
00:57:04.000 So the Mexican style is a brawling style.
00:57:06.000 You just go in there, you fucking give it your all.
00:57:09.000 Mano a mano, that's how they call it.
00:57:12.000 The other one...
00:57:13.000 That's where the term comes from, I guess.
00:57:15.000 The boxing, the sweet science is like Mayweather style.
00:57:18.000 Use the ring.
00:57:20.000 That style gets a lot of criticism because a lot of people call it running, but it's not running.
00:57:24.000 It's just being more intelligent, moving your feet.
00:57:27.000 It's letting the person tire themselves out.
00:57:29.000 Yeah.
00:57:30.000 Those are the only two.
00:57:31.000 It's either brawler or boxer.
00:57:32.000 And then usually in America, you got like the West Coast fighters and you got the East Coast fighters.
00:57:36.000 And you can actually tell a little bit of the difference.
00:57:39.000 You know, like when Zab Judy used to fight and all those guys from the East Coast, from New York, and they would fight, you know, people from the West Coast, from LA, and you'll see the difference from a place like Wildcard and somewhere like Gleason's.
00:57:50.000 What are some of the differences you would say from the East Coast, West Coast guys?
00:57:54.000 I think, you know, from the East Coast, it's more...
00:57:57.000 East Coast is more Philly shell.
00:57:58.000 Philly shell.
00:57:59.000 Ah, okay.
00:57:59.000 And in the West Coast, it's more like...
00:58:02.000 Brawler.
00:58:03.000 Yeah.
00:58:04.000 Brawler.
00:58:04.000 Okay.
00:58:05.000 Yeah.
00:58:05.000 Gotcha.
00:58:06.000 Nigga shell.
00:58:10.000 I'll just say it, bro.
00:58:11.000 Slim Mobile goes, I'm a company truck driver who's on a 1099.
00:58:14.000 Should I make it LLC? Yes, my friend.
00:58:17.000 And switch that shit to S Corp ASAP. So it's possible.
00:58:19.000 Rick says, never sent out a Super Chat, but just a huge fan of the Mexican Monster.
00:58:24.000 Used to be a Canelo fan, but now a fan of David.
00:58:26.000 David is a future shout-out enough for putting him on as well.
00:58:28.000 Thank you, brother.
00:58:29.000 I'm not gonna lie, man.
00:58:29.000 I'm a fan, too, as well.
00:58:30.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:58:31.000 You know?
00:58:31.000 Very humble guy.
00:58:31.000 Thank you, guys.
00:58:32.000 I appreciate it.
00:58:32.000 No, I mean, I knew about you because my coach said, oh, David Benavidez was in the gym training and Jake was there, etc.
00:58:38.000 And I was like, oh, shit.
00:58:39.000 And he was like, yeah, Canelo's fucking ducking him.
00:58:40.000 Everybody knows that.
00:58:41.000 And I was like, oh, shit.
00:58:42.000 So if you guys want to come down to the gym and see my sparring sessions, you'll realize why.
00:58:46.000 Yeah, yeah.
00:58:46.000 You'll realize why I'm ducking.
00:58:48.000 Hey, man.
00:58:49.000 I'll be scared, too.
00:58:51.000 Hello, Benavidez.
00:58:52.000 Thoughts on Isaac Pitbull and Canelo ain't scared of you, brother.
00:58:54.000 He would break you down easy.
00:58:57.000 What's your response to that?
00:58:58.000 He don't get an answer.
00:59:01.000 Isaac Pitbull?
00:59:03.000 Thoughts on that?
00:59:04.000 Pitbull is a great fighter.
00:59:06.000 He's like...
00:59:08.000 The next Mike Tyson.
00:59:09.000 He's a little Mike Tyson.
00:59:10.000 He has the same style.
00:59:11.000 He's a great fighter.
00:59:13.000 I think he adds a lot to the Mexican list of fighters because he's the same.
00:59:19.000 He puts everything out, puts his heart out on the line and fights with everything.
00:59:24.000 Fights with a lot of balls.
00:59:30.000 Keep Canelo...
00:59:31.000 This guy.
00:59:32.000 You got some Canelo fans in here.
00:59:33.000 Keep Canelo name out your mouth, punk.
00:59:35.000 You're going to end up just like Raleigh Romero.
00:59:38.000 I already imagined your confused face on a canvas.
00:59:40.000 Canelo is the best Mexican fighter of all time.
00:59:42.000 Bruh.
00:59:44.000 No response to that, right?
00:59:45.000 That's why, you know, that's what makes the victories much more sweeter when you get to shut people up like that.
00:59:49.000 Yeah.
00:59:50.000 How much hate do you get like that?
00:59:52.000 To be honest with you, I don't go on my phone.
00:59:54.000 I don't look at Instagram.
00:59:55.000 Because at the end of the day, bro, that shit pisses you off.
00:59:58.000 Yeah.
00:59:58.000 If you keep reading that shit.
00:59:59.000 I mean, I know a lot of people say, oh, I don't let it get to me.
01:00:02.000 But think about it like this.
01:00:04.000 If you're reading somebody call you a piece of shit every single day for a month, that shit starts to get to you.
01:00:09.000 You know what I mean?
01:00:10.000 Negativity is negativity no matter how you put it.
01:00:12.000 That's true.
01:00:12.000 You're right.
01:00:12.000 So, I mean, The thing I gotta say about people like this, if you don't have the fucking balls to say that to somebody's face and you're just typing, then you're not a real fucking person.
01:00:20.000 If somebody talked to me like that in person, I'll fucking beat the shit out of them.
01:00:24.000 And that's how I know it.
01:00:25.000 If you don't have the balls to tell that to somebody to their face, you're not a real person.
01:00:29.000 Keyboard warriors, bro.
01:00:30.000 You're not a real person.
01:00:30.000 And here's the other thing, too.
01:00:32.000 It's not like you're the one that's saying, yo, let's box.
01:00:35.000 So clearly you're not scared.
01:00:36.000 The onus isn't on you, it's on him.
01:00:39.000 What the fuck are they talking about?
01:00:42.000 What does it sound like?
01:00:43.000 I'm not going to fight him unless they give me 200 million.
01:00:46.000 That's absurd, bro.
01:00:47.000 What the fuck?
01:00:48.000 You know what you're doing whenever you say that?
01:00:49.000 You don't want it to happen.
01:00:50.000 Wink, wink.
01:00:52.000 Let's see here.
01:00:53.000 What do you think of a catchweight fight at 160 with Crawford?
01:00:58.000 You know, it's crazy because they were just talking to me about that.
01:01:00.000 But no, 160.
01:01:02.000 I haven't been at 160 since I was like 12.
01:01:07.000 I can only imagine cutting weight.
01:01:09.000 Because you're a tall guy.
01:01:10.000 So 160, I mean, I'm already doing a lot.
01:01:14.000 But getting to 168, 160, that's another 8 pounds.
01:01:16.000 So no, I'm not doing that.
01:01:19.000 But Crawford is a great fighter.
01:01:20.000 I mean, I would love to share the ring with Crawford if that opportunity came up.
01:01:24.000 But not at 160.
01:01:26.000 Gotcha.
01:01:28.000 June says, hey David, since you sparred with Golovkin in the past, is it true what they say about his punching power?
01:01:35.000 Keep up the great work champ.
01:01:36.000 That motherfucker is hard.
01:01:38.000 He is hard.
01:01:39.000 He is hard.
01:01:40.000 So funny story when I first sparred him.
01:01:41.000 So I was the main sparring partner for a reason.
01:01:44.000 You know what I mean?
01:01:44.000 I am who I am and I was his main sparring partner for a reason.
01:01:49.000 The first day we sparred when I was 15 years old, I remember...
01:01:53.000 I went there.
01:01:54.000 That's before he fought in the U.S., so nobody knew him.
01:01:56.000 And then my dad, he's like, hey, you want to spar?
01:01:58.000 I'm 15 years old.
01:01:59.000 I'm like, yeah, I'll spar.
01:01:59.000 He's like, who are you going to spar?
01:02:00.000 He's like, that guy over there.
01:02:01.000 So I turn to look at Golovkin, and he gives me, bro, the most killer look I've ever seen.
01:02:05.000 I'm like, oh, fuck.
01:02:06.000 I'm kind of scared, to be honest with you.
01:02:08.000 But I'm like, I'm not.
01:02:09.000 If my dad thinks I can handle it, then fuck it.
01:02:12.000 Let's go.
01:02:13.000 Having a great sparring.
01:02:14.000 Both catching each other.
01:02:15.000 We both throw a left hook at the same time.
01:02:17.000 Boom.
01:02:18.000 Hit it to the body.
01:02:19.000 We both go.
01:02:19.000 Oh, step back.
01:02:20.000 We both step back.
01:02:21.000 Yeah.
01:02:24.000 But he hits hard, bro.
01:02:25.000 The reason why I know everything I know right now and why I'm so good is because his shots were so hard that you have to do things outside of your comfort zone.
01:02:33.000 You have to learn defense.
01:02:34.000 You have to learn head movement.
01:02:35.000 You have to learn all this shit to not get hit.
01:02:37.000 Yeah.
01:02:38.000 But he hit hard.
01:02:39.000 Yeah.
01:02:39.000 But he knows I hit hard, too.
01:02:41.000 Yeah.
01:02:42.000 It's different, man.
01:02:43.000 I mean, I sparred with my coach a few times and he fucks me up and I'm like, God damn.
01:02:47.000 It's one thing to hit mitts, but it's another thing to stand in front of someone that's more experienced than you and fight them and then you're like, oh shit, I gotta avoid getting hit.
01:02:55.000 And not only the thing, the thing about it too is getting hit and also being able to think after.
01:03:00.000 Yeah.
01:03:01.000 That shit's hard, bro.
01:03:02.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:03:03.000 And then, like, what you mentioned, like, about, like, setting up shots.
01:03:06.000 Like, that's so, like, that's something that's, like, underrated.
01:03:09.000 It's like, oh, yeah, I'm going to hit you a few times up top, and then, boom, hit you in the body.
01:03:11.000 And hitting a hit in the body hurts, man.
01:03:13.000 Yeah, yeah.
01:03:14.000 It takes everything out of you.
01:03:15.000 Holy shit.
01:03:15.000 Like, it'll knock the wind out of you.
01:03:16.000 So it's like, unless you box and, you know, you feel it, it's like it's, you can't describe it.
01:03:22.000 Yeah.
01:03:23.000 So, and I mean, to obviously do it on your level was fucking crazy, man.
01:03:26.000 Yo, Eddie hit me one time.
01:03:27.000 Crazy admiration.
01:03:28.000 I said, bro, I need a timeout.
01:03:29.000 Yeah.
01:03:30.000 So, crazy admiration, man.
01:03:33.000 Dieter Biev versus Bival.
01:03:36.000 Who do you got?
01:03:37.000 To be honest with you, I think Bival is going to win.
01:03:41.000 Because Berta Biev, bro, he's like almost 40 years old.
01:03:43.000 He's strong, but I think Bival is more of a complete package.
01:03:47.000 He can move in and out.
01:03:48.000 He hits hard.
01:03:49.000 And, you know, he uses his distance really well.
01:03:52.000 But Bival, I mean, Berta Biev, too, he's a monster.
01:03:54.000 But I got Bival on that fight.
01:03:56.000 Okay.
01:03:56.000 Okay.
01:03:57.000 And then what else do we got here?
01:03:59.000 J-Tune.
01:04:00.000 The Mexican Monster, Mike Tyson's voice.
01:04:02.000 David, I'm 28 years old, 225 pounds, 5'8".
01:04:05.000 If I lose 40 pounds in eight months, would you spar me?
01:04:08.000 I have four to five years of experience, but I haven't done any boxing in like years.
01:04:12.000 You're going to get fucked up, bro.
01:04:15.000 I mean, I can work with him, but...
01:04:16.000 This one just wants to get beat up, I guess.
01:04:18.000 You know what, bro?
01:04:18.000 Go to Boxer Gym, sign up.
01:04:20.000 Yeah.
01:04:20.000 Sign a waiver.
01:04:21.000 There you go.
01:04:22.000 Sign the waiver, bro.
01:04:24.000 I'll get sued.
01:04:25.000 Yeah, man.
01:04:26.000 It's crazy out here.
01:04:28.000 Have David been invited to P. Diddy party?
01:04:31.000 Come on, man.
01:04:32.000 You know what's going on with Diddy, right?
01:04:34.000 Yeah, I've been seen.
01:04:35.000 No, I haven't been.
01:04:37.000 I haven't gotten invited to those parties.
01:04:41.000 She's a married man, man.
01:04:42.000 Confront Canelo in person if the fight don't happen.
01:04:45.000 I want to at least see him shit his pants in the presence of the Mexican monster.
01:04:49.000 I mean, I would love to do that.
01:04:51.000 I definitely would love to do that.
01:04:53.000 Have you ever met him in person before?
01:04:55.000 I've never seen him in person.
01:04:56.000 He's small, bro.
01:04:57.000 I was going to say, he's not that much bigger than him.
01:05:01.000 Yeah, and I think that's a big reason why he's scared is because of your reach and everything else like that.
01:05:06.000 And I also think that because his last, when he fought Bivol, he went up in weight 175, and Bivol, he throws a lot of combinations, really powerful, and kind of like the same as me.
01:05:15.000 You know what I mean?
01:05:15.000 So, I think he's seen, bro, that it's...
01:05:18.000 What class would you put Canelo in?
01:05:20.000 Would you consider him a brawler?
01:05:22.000 He's a brawler.
01:05:23.000 I don't take nothing away from Canelo.
01:05:25.000 Canelo is a living legend.
01:05:27.000 Obviously, the opinion I have is not because of what he's done in his career.
01:05:32.000 It's because he doesn't want to fight me, but he's a living legend.
01:05:34.000 But if you look at his record, when he comes up to 168, you find Caleb Plant, you find Billy Joe Saunders, guys that didn't have power.
01:05:41.000 Once he goes up to 175, he fights guys with power.
01:05:48.000 What are your thoughts on the Fury vs Nagano fight?
01:05:59.000 I was really surprised on that fight to be honest with you.
01:06:03.000 I'm a big fan of Tyson Fury.
01:06:05.000 I just feel like he didn't take that fight serious at all.
01:06:09.000 But Ngandu, bro, he really made a big splash.
01:06:12.000 Ngandu has a lot of fucking power.
01:06:13.000 Yeah.
01:06:14.000 And I think that's what surprised Tyson Fury, that he didn't think that he'd be able to perform on him or fight with him on that level.
01:06:19.000 And Ngandu is training with Mike Tyson.
01:06:22.000 Yeah.
01:06:22.000 Mike Tyson has a lot of knowledge, bro.
01:06:23.000 Amen.
01:06:24.000 Not to make a joke, but that's black power for you.
01:06:26.000 Yeah.
01:06:26.000 Bruh.
01:06:29.000 What did you think about his most recent fight with Anthony Joshua?
01:06:34.000 Yes, thank you.
01:06:35.000 I think Joshua wasn't fucking around.
01:06:39.000 Joshua has a lot of power too, bro.
01:06:40.000 I was just surprised how fast it ended.
01:06:42.000 I thought it was going to go way longer than that, but I think that just shows what level Joshua's on.
01:06:47.000 He ain't playing.
01:06:48.000 What else do we got here?
01:06:51.000 We got Nikes, right?
01:06:53.000 Is it?
01:06:54.000 Gomez Lopez.
01:06:55.000 Gomez, sorry.
01:06:56.000 We could all agree that Golovkin was the most feared fighter in his prime, yet Canelo fought him and took all his belts, so how could you say he's scared?
01:07:05.000 So then why isn't he taking the fight?
01:07:06.000 Why isn't he finding his number one?
01:07:08.000 That's the thing I say about people.
01:07:11.000 Bro, if you're just tired of me talking so much shit, come fucking beat me.
01:07:15.000 Come knock me out.
01:07:16.000 And make a fucking fat check after that.
01:07:18.000 You know what I mean?
01:07:19.000 That's why he don't want to fight because he knows this shit ain't no game right here.
01:07:24.000 I mean, before he asked for the $200 million, I think the offer that my promotion company sent him was about $60 million.
01:07:33.000 $60 million.
01:07:34.000 Now he's making $35 million.
01:07:36.000 So y'all are like doubling it.
01:07:38.000 Why would you have two deals on the table?
01:07:41.000 $35 million and a $60 million deal, but you go with the $35 million.
01:07:48.000 Amen.
01:07:48.000 Amen.
01:07:49.000 Men lie, women lie.
01:07:49.000 It is very clear what's happening here.
01:07:52.000 And I guarantee you he's not going to get that money with nobody else.
01:07:55.000 Yeah.
01:07:55.000 No, he wasn't.
01:07:55.000 Nobody else.
01:07:56.000 And you know what's crazy?
01:07:57.000 People want to see you and him fight.
01:07:58.000 They want to see it.
01:07:58.000 I want to see it.
01:07:59.000 Yeah.
01:08:00.000 But...
01:08:00.000 It's just at the end of the day, you want to...
01:08:03.000 Respect boxing.
01:08:04.000 The best fight, the best.
01:08:06.000 This guy has all the belts, bro.
01:08:07.000 He don't even want to give the people the opportunity.
01:08:09.000 He wants to handpick who he fights.
01:08:11.000 And when you have all the belts, bro, I mean, you could do it for a little bit of time, but come on, brother.
01:08:14.000 This dude is doing it for way too long, bro.
01:08:16.000 And here's the other thing, too.
01:08:17.000 And I want to get your guys' takes on this.
01:08:18.000 Like...
01:08:19.000 Floyd did it with Pacquiao, right?
01:08:20.000 He waited, waited, waited.
01:08:21.000 Then he did the fight eventually.
01:08:23.000 And to this day, people still criticize him.
01:08:24.000 Oh, you didn't fight him in his prime.
01:08:25.000 You were scared, etc.
01:08:27.000 He still fought him.
01:08:27.000 He fought him, right?
01:08:29.000 But people are always going to talk shit.
01:08:30.000 So it's like, for Canelo, it's like, bro, just fight him now.
01:08:34.000 The crazy thing about it, too, is everybody wants to watch it.
01:08:37.000 Which means everyone's going to pay to watch it.
01:08:39.000 Which means there's going to be a sellout fight.
01:08:42.000 Imagine if it was 60 mil.
01:08:43.000 How much is he getting off the pay-per-view?
01:08:45.000 Because you still get money off the pay-per-view.
01:08:46.000 That's just the flat fee he's getting.
01:08:50.000 That's just up front just to do it.
01:08:52.000 That doesn't even account for the pay-per-views after the fact.
01:08:55.000 He even said, keep the pay-per-views.
01:08:59.000 We had had a conversation.
01:09:01.000 We had had a conversation.
01:09:03.000 My guy, Samson, called me.
01:09:05.000 He was like, hey, so an opportunity came up.
01:09:08.000 He said that he, after your fight, he will fight you in September, but you have to get a fee of five million dollars.
01:09:16.000 And that's it.
01:09:16.000 No pay-per-view, nothing.
01:09:17.000 I said, let's fucking do it.
01:09:18.000 Let's do it.
01:09:20.000 I have to give away percentages.
01:09:22.000 I'm ended up with like 3.5.
01:09:23.000 Yeah.
01:09:24.000 Before taxes.
01:09:26.000 So I'm like, for me, I don't give a fuck.
01:09:28.000 That's the opportunity I wanted.
01:09:29.000 I don't care about the money because once I beat him, that's when the money comes.
01:09:33.000 Right.
01:09:34.000 But I think they were just trying to see what I was going to say.
01:09:36.000 Because I had said before that if I would fight him for five million or even less.
01:09:40.000 So they're trying to see, oh yeah, well, he wanted more money.
01:09:44.000 He didn't keep his word and said he'd only fight for the five million.
01:09:46.000 But I ain't banned, bro.
01:09:47.000 I said, yeah, I stand by my word.
01:09:49.000 I don't care.
01:09:51.000 I want the opportunity.
01:09:52.000 You called their bluff.
01:09:53.000 You called their bluff.
01:09:55.000 And then the crazy thing too is that him and his team, they'd go and say, we never received nothing from Benavides.
01:10:02.000 There was never a fight on the table.
01:10:04.000 Bro, how are you going to sign a three-fight deal with my promotion company in the fight that everybody wants to see?
01:10:09.000 You think my promotion company is not going to talk to you about fighting me?
01:10:12.000 Like, how is my name never...
01:10:14.000 He said that Al Heyman never talked to him about me.
01:10:16.000 Like, bro, it just makes no sense.
01:10:18.000 So it's just lie after lie.
01:10:20.000 You know, it's interesting because the people watching, right?
01:10:24.000 Like, we talked about the whole Canelo thing.
01:10:26.000 And then they keep bringing it up.
01:10:27.000 That tells you how much the people want it.
01:10:28.000 The people here even are, like, watching it right now.
01:10:30.000 We got, what, over 10,000 of y'all watching right now live.
01:10:33.000 Like, the people want it.
01:10:35.000 Almost every question that's come through is like, where's the fight?
01:10:37.000 Like...
01:10:39.000 Yeah.
01:10:39.000 You know what's funny too, bro?
01:10:40.000 So when we heard about that $150, $150, $200 million, I'm like, yeah, well, hopefully after he gets that money, he has enough money left over to buy a pair of balls.
01:10:48.000 LAUGHTER He's ducking, man.
01:10:53.000 It's obvious he's ducking.
01:10:54.000 At this point.
01:10:56.000 Main event.
01:10:57.000 Main event goes, big fan of David, you have an excellent high guard.
01:11:01.000 Did you model that after Winky Wright?
01:11:04.000 Also, to put in perspective, as scary as David is in boxing, in his prime, GGG or Triple G was arguably scarier.
01:11:11.000 I'm sure David would agree.
01:11:13.000 Yeah, that's a good comparison.
01:11:14.000 I like what the guy said about Winky Wright because yes, I did.
01:11:17.000 Winky Wright is definitely who I took it after.
01:11:20.000 And what did the guy say about Golovkin?
01:11:24.000 Did he mention?
01:11:25.000 In his prime.
01:11:25.000 Yeah, he said in his prime.
01:11:27.000 What's scarier?
01:11:27.000 Yeah.
01:11:28.000 He said David would agree.
01:11:29.000 I mean, David...
01:11:30.000 He fought Canelo too.
01:11:31.000 I watched that fight.
01:11:32.000 I watched the fight.
01:11:33.000 Triple G fight Canelo.
01:11:34.000 The thing about it is too that you guys got to understand.
01:11:38.000 Golovkin, when he was coming up, when he made, bro, when he did his HBO pay-per-view, his first one, no, his first HBO fight, he was already 29.
01:11:47.000 You know what I mean?
01:11:47.000 So he started later.
01:11:48.000 Yeah.
01:11:49.000 But I, you know, I've been champion three times.
01:11:51.000 I've done a lot already, bro, at 27 years old, and I'm still going.
01:11:54.000 Yep.
01:11:54.000 You know, so by the time, now these are the best years.
01:11:56.000 I feel like I'm really entering my prime, and I feel like people are really going to see the best of me.
01:12:00.000 Yeah.
01:12:00.000 You know what I mean?
01:12:01.000 So I can't agree with that question.
01:12:03.000 You know, I can't agree with that because I'm barely getting started.
01:12:06.000 Yeah.
01:12:06.000 I got fucking 10 years boxing already.
01:12:08.000 I'm ready for another 15.
01:12:09.000 Shit.
01:12:10.000 All right.
01:12:10.000 All right.
01:12:11.000 We got, who's up next here?
01:12:13.000 Oh.
01:12:15.000 Strawberry goes, if any other fighter kept denying they'd strip their belt, why has a Canelo been stripped?
01:12:20.000 So because the sanctioning of all the belts, there's so much fucking money in there, brother.
01:12:26.000 That 3% off of that, they all get 3%.
01:12:29.000 That 3% off that 40 mil, who else does that?
01:12:32.000 Where else are they going to get that money at?
01:12:34.000 So, Canelo's promising that he'll fight me or he'll fight whoever after, but he never does.
01:12:39.000 So, I mean, I don't want to talk bad about the sanctioning belts, but that's just what it is.
01:12:44.000 That's the cold reality, that they're making more money with him.
01:12:47.000 And they want to keep him happy.
01:12:49.000 Okay, so it's not even honoring other fights.
01:12:53.000 It's who's holding the belt.
01:12:53.000 It makes us the most money.
01:12:55.000 It's how it is.
01:12:56.000 He has priority.
01:12:58.000 Basically, yeah.
01:12:59.000 That's how they're making it seem.
01:13:00.000 Boxing politics, man.
01:13:01.000 It's crazy, bro.
01:13:03.000 See, as a viewer, we would never know.
01:13:04.000 Yeah, you wouldn't know.
01:13:06.000 Oh, he's scared or whatever.
01:13:07.000 There's so much behind the scenes that nobody knows.
01:13:10.000 And we don't even know what's really going on.
01:13:13.000 But I'm glad that y'all are kind of shedding light on this because it's like, you know, somebody out there might say, oh, what are you doing?
01:13:18.000 But they don't know what the fuck is going on.
01:13:20.000 They don't know the whole rundown about everything.
01:13:22.000 And that's just the cold reality of it.
01:13:24.000 You know what I mean?
01:13:25.000 He's making the company so much money, the sanctioning belt so much money that, you know, they're just going to cater to him.
01:13:32.000 I remember we had on...
01:13:33.000 Until he loses.
01:13:35.000 Gotcha.
01:13:36.000 So they look at it like, alright.
01:13:39.000 So who holds the belt sometimes is more important than if the best person holds the belt.
01:13:43.000 Yeah.
01:13:44.000 Wow.
01:13:44.000 So this is a thing too.
01:13:46.000 Obviously...
01:13:48.000 It's called the passing of the torch for a reason because Mayweather did that to Canelo.
01:13:53.000 So how the fuck am I ever supposed to get there if I'm not able to fight the best of the best?
01:13:56.000 You know what I mean?
01:13:57.000 I've put the work in.
01:13:58.000 Everything he's been through, I've been through, I've done the same thing.
01:14:01.000 But because he was able to share the ring with Floyd Mayweather, they made 2.5 million, or how much they make?
01:14:06.000 2 million, 1.5 million out of the cells?
01:14:08.000 That instantaneously blew his name up.
01:14:11.000 Mayweather's fans became his fans.
01:14:13.000 So I guarantee you, once I fight Canelo, his fans are going to turn into my fans.
01:14:16.000 But it's because you get that spotlight to perform and show yourself to the world.
01:14:22.000 I mean, I'm doing what I'm doing.
01:14:24.000 I'm giving great fights, but I'm not selling 1.5 million.
01:14:27.000 I'm not selling like them.
01:14:28.000 Do you think it's because he's not at the end of his career yet and he wants to keep going and he knows fighting you will be a career member?
01:14:33.000 So this is the thing about boxing too, bro.
01:14:35.000 You have to put the work in, bro.
01:14:36.000 It's not going to happen overnight.
01:14:38.000 You know what I mean?
01:14:40.000 I've been professional 10 years.
01:14:41.000 I barely got my first pay-per-view last year.
01:14:44.000 You know what I mean?
01:14:44.000 So it's just you got to put the work in, put the work.
01:14:46.000 I think little by little I'm getting there.
01:14:48.000 I'm going to start to hit those numbers.
01:14:51.000 But it's just I'm saying sometimes it's the passing of the torch.
01:14:54.000 If you really believe in your skills, come shut me up.
01:14:56.000 If not, I'm going to take the torch myself.
01:14:58.000 But that's the thing that he knows that it's 50-50.
01:15:02.000 Is there anyone else in that weight class you could fight at the same magnitude or not really?
01:15:06.000 No.
01:15:07.000 Canelo is the guy right now.
01:15:09.000 So that's why, you know, forget about that.
01:15:12.000 Going up to 75.
01:15:13.000 These are the best guys there, so we're going to make it happen there.
01:15:15.000 Got it.
01:15:16.000 Alright.
01:15:17.000 Yo, that nigga's scary, man.
01:15:18.000 Yeah, but that's all they're spamming in the chat right now.
01:15:20.000 Yo.
01:15:21.000 Just so y'all know, if you watch this on the playback, it's not that he's talking about Canelo so much, it's that you guys keep fucking asking and he's answering your questions.
01:15:26.000 True.
01:15:27.000 What else we got here?
01:15:28.000 Slimmo Bob, what's your opinion on kids and girls you're hooking up with?
01:15:31.000 Nigga, what?
01:15:35.000 Okay, question for David.
01:15:37.000 Do you think you're a traditional man and why?
01:15:42.000 WFNFW, David, stay focused and keep working hard.
01:15:43.000 You got it, champs.
01:15:45.000 Yeah, traditional, man.
01:15:46.000 I always say I am because, you know, at the end of the day, I'm a family man.
01:15:49.000 I work hard.
01:15:52.000 Does your family help keep you grounded?
01:15:54.000 Yeah, my wife does.
01:15:55.000 My wife does a lot.
01:15:56.000 You know, she puts me in my place.
01:15:58.000 She puts me in check.
01:15:59.000 And not only that, it's...
01:16:01.000 Having my family, bro, it gives me so much more motivation.
01:16:04.000 I love being there with my family as opposed to being in the club or being this and that.
01:16:09.000 I get to see my son grow up.
01:16:10.000 I'm teaching him how to box.
01:16:11.000 My little daughter, Chloe, she's three months old.
01:16:16.000 She's moving more.
01:16:18.000 I'm very happy in that sense.
01:16:19.000 Do you think if you came here as a single guy, it would have been way harder to stay focused on training, stay focused on avoiding the club, avoiding girls?
01:16:29.000 It just really depends on where you're at.
01:16:31.000 I feel like it definitely is.
01:16:33.000 It would be a...
01:16:37.000 Distraction for me, but I'm never going to let nothing distract me.
01:16:40.000 I know my dream.
01:16:42.000 I know where I'm going.
01:16:43.000 You can do that after your career is over.
01:16:46.000 Right now, there's only a small window of time to accomplish what we want to accomplish.
01:16:50.000 Good point.
01:16:51.000 I'm not going to say it wouldn't affect other people.
01:16:54.000 I've seen people just make money and We're good to go.
01:17:06.000 We're good to go.
01:17:21.000 And you have to see, what way do I go?
01:17:22.000 Do I make more mistakes or do I go forward and actually go after my dream?
01:17:26.000 And I feel like now, bro, to be honest with you, people, they're more self-centered.
01:17:32.000 A lot of people more on their phone, wanted to show off or Instagram or Twitter or all that.
01:17:36.000 Bro, that shit's cool, bro, but at the end of the day, in the real life, that shit does not matter.
01:17:40.000 For you getting to your dream, It's a solid distraction.
01:17:43.000 Some people, I feel like they're addicted to social media and they don't even know facts.
01:17:49.000 It's almost like they're living for social media rather than living in real life.
01:17:51.000 Yeah, and they make zero money on that shit too.
01:17:53.000 What else do we got here?
01:17:54.000 And then we're going to close out, guys.
01:17:56.000 We got what?
01:17:59.000 11,000 y'all watching plus.
01:18:01.000 That's it.
01:18:01.000 Okay, so we're caught up.
01:18:03.000 Guys, I'll give y'all the last word, man.
01:18:06.000 What's coming up?
01:18:07.000 What you guys got going on in the future?
01:18:09.000 Yeah, so we got a fight.
01:18:10.000 I don't know if it's June 15th or June 22nd, but me, I'm going to fight for the light heavyweight title.
01:18:17.000 Light heavyweight interim title, and then on the same night, Gervonta Davis is going to fight Frank Martin.
01:18:21.000 It's going to be huge, man.
01:18:22.000 Fucking lit card.
01:18:24.000 It's going to be amazing.
01:18:24.000 Probably going to be the biggest card.
01:18:26.000 Where's it going to be?
01:18:26.000 The whole year.
01:18:27.000 I don't know.
01:18:27.000 It's either going to be in Vegas or Houston.
01:18:29.000 Okay.
01:18:29.000 I was going to ask.
01:18:30.000 I know you didn't know where it was.
01:18:31.000 Yeah, it's going to be a fucking big fight.
01:18:33.000 So I'm very excited.
01:18:34.000 I'm working hard for that.
01:18:35.000 And we just take it little by little.
01:18:37.000 You know what I mean?
01:18:38.000 Hopefully...
01:18:39.000 Hopefully we can bring you guys a Canelo fight because I know that's what everybody wants to see.
01:18:44.000 Man, the chat's been spamming it all the whole time.
01:18:45.000 Half the questions were about that.
01:18:47.000 Yeah.
01:18:47.000 So, I mean, I'm just happy to be able to be here with you guys.
01:18:51.000 Yeah, bro.
01:18:51.000 Thank you for coming, man.
01:18:52.000 Thank you so much.
01:18:52.000 Thank you for coming, bro.
01:18:53.000 And it's an honor to be here with you guys and be here with the fans.
01:18:56.000 No, it's an honor to be here.
01:18:56.000 Bro, because I started training boxing a few months ago and I'm like, holy fuck.
01:19:00.000 I got a whole newfound respect for the sport and for you guys.
01:19:04.000 So, for me, this is awesome.
01:19:05.000 Bro, I got to teach this guy like I was doing the class.
01:19:07.000 Yeah.
01:19:08.000 Yeah.
01:19:08.000 No, no, honestly, bro, he can teach you a lot.
01:19:10.000 Yeah, yeah, yeah.
01:19:11.000 So I find enjoying that, too, just helping the fighters.
01:19:14.000 I mean, the guys that he brought...
01:19:15.000 So my CEO network, they came through the box for training, right?
01:19:18.000 And then he came and showed them a lot of moves.
01:19:19.000 I was like, damn, that's love, bro.
01:19:20.000 He didn't have to, but he did it.
01:19:22.000 I'll go.
01:19:22.000 I never go outside, but I'll go.
01:19:24.000 Let's do it!
01:19:25.000 I love that.
01:19:26.000 Yeah, so that'll be great.
01:19:28.000 I think the people would like to see that too.
01:19:29.000 But nonetheless though, thank you Matilda for making this happen as well.
01:19:32.000 Yeah, always.
01:19:32.000 Thank you, bro.
01:19:33.000 I never met David.
01:19:34.000 Even Daniel as well.
01:19:35.000 Thank you, Daniel, for showing up as well.
01:19:36.000 Yeah, shout out to Boxer Gym for sending us up, man.
01:19:38.000 What's coming up next for you and Boxer Gym?
01:19:41.000 Man, at the moment, it's been amazing just because we've got a few projects on the line.
01:19:46.000 You know, we're looking at opening up another location, possibly up in NYC, another one in the Middle East.
01:19:52.000 Middle East has a huge boxing market.
01:19:53.000 Yeah.
01:19:54.000 We're trying to get into it big time.
01:19:56.000 You know, I'm in the middle of also, you know, restructuring a few things with the brand where, you know, we've got the management company, we're getting fighters in.
01:20:04.000 Having David Benavides at the gym is an absolute, you know, honor and pleasure.
01:20:08.000 It's been attracting a lot of fighters, you know.
01:20:10.000 And it's just about, you know, fueling the brand and being very consistent with what we're doing and bringing more value to the people, always.
01:20:16.000 You know what I like, Boxer?
01:20:17.000 There's a community.
01:20:19.000 They care about their people.
01:20:20.000 And for example, let's say you're a member, they care about you too as well.
01:20:22.000 And what's more important is that celebrities come in there all the time and they're humble.
01:20:26.000 They help people, they're social, so that's really good at Boxing Jam.
01:20:28.000 That's great, man.
01:20:30.000 But yeah, guys, I hope you guys enjoyed the interview, man.
01:20:32.000 We're going to be back with some lovely ladies here in about maybe 45 to an hour.
01:20:37.000 Yo, thank you guys for coming by.

01:20:41.000 Real quick, man.
01:20:42.000 Yeah.
01:20:42.000 Oh yeah, he gave us some hats and a shirt.
01:20:45.000 Yeah, yeah, that's a shirt.
01:20:47.000 Shout to Dave Benavidez and his team, man.
01:20:51.000 And yeah, guys, we'll catch you guys here in a bit, in about an hour or so, man.
