00:01:32.320 in which we look back at some of the week's very best commentaries from your favorite Rebels,
00:01:37.720 which happen to not be me.
00:01:39.680 I'm your host, who is definitely, absolutely not Mr. David Menzies.
00:01:43.660 I'm Sheila Gunn-Reed, and I'm filling in for my dear friend David
00:01:46.820 as he takes some well-deserved time off from the show.
00:01:50.500 However, you will be seeing David back at the Roundup news desk in the new year, so stay tuned.
00:01:56.520 A family from Peru wanted to move to Canada because somehow the pandemic restrictions in Peru
00:02:02.060 were even harsher on kids than they are here in Canada.
00:02:05.500 It's hard to believe.
00:02:06.960 The dad is a Canadian citizen, and so his kids are dual citizens.
00:02:10.420 They did everything right.
00:02:11.480 They tried to come in through the front door to Canada,
00:02:13.640 and yet they received $11,000 in lockdown fines upon entry to their new home country.
00:02:19.420 But this story has a happy ending.
00:02:21.800 Drea Humphrey joins us with this fight the fines victory.
00:02:25.220 Then, Louis Brackpool is living in the land of the vaccine passports.
00:02:29.820 Not Canada, but the UK.
00:02:31.060 Louis wanted to give his fellow UK citizens an opportunity to send a message to their politicians
00:02:36.260 that the people do not want the discriminatory vaccine passport system.
00:02:40.920 Nor is it necessary, since the vaccinated can catch and spread COVID to basically anyone.
00:02:45.880 But when Louis tried to launch a petition, big tech stepped in to block it.
00:02:50.160 Our UK correspondent joins us tonight to talk about the fight against vaccine passport segregation in the UK
00:02:55.700 and who really makes up the anti-passport movement.
00:03:00.580 Then letters, letters, letters.
00:03:02.000 We get your letters all day, every day, and I'll read some of them.
00:03:05.260 Actually, I'm going to read one.
00:03:06.720 It's long, but it's one of the favorite letters that I have received in weeks,
00:03:11.120 and it's about David Menzies being assaulted by Trudeau's RCMP henchmen.
00:03:15.460 You'll note this isn't the usual Rebel Roundup background
00:03:18.160 because I forgot to switch mine out in my interview,
00:03:20.780 so I left this one for consistency's sake.
00:03:24.080 Those are your Rebels.
00:03:25.480 Let's round them up.
00:03:31.480 Drea Humphrey here with Rebel News.
00:03:33.860 In another Fight the Fines win for you,
00:03:36.840 a couple was fined over $11,000
00:03:40.640 when entering the supposedly true North strong and free country of Canada.
00:03:47.380 But thanks to people like yourself who have been generously donating at FightTheFines.com,
00:03:54.100 we were able to partner with the Democracy Fund charity
00:03:57.280 and hire them top-notch lawyers from the law firm Great, Woke, and Spencer.
00:04:03.360 Thanks so much for inviting us into your home.
00:04:06.440 There was good news in regards to the over $11,000 fines you guys received.
00:04:13.440 For those who don't know, because this is actually our first time doing this report,
00:04:19.340 tell us why you guys received such a slap-worthy fine.
00:04:24.540 Well, as soon as we arrived to Canada,
00:04:29.660 by the way, we were moving to Canada,
00:04:31.760 and my wife just landed.
00:04:34.400 It was almost six months ago, back in June.
00:04:36.780 Back then, everyone, regardless of your medical status,
00:04:45.000 back then you had to be quarantined and take an arrival PCR test,
00:04:50.920 and then take another PCR test on day 8, if I remember correctly.
00:04:56.200 So when we arrived, we refused the hotel quarantine,
00:05:00.320 partly because we were a family of five,
00:05:03.780 which includes my five-year-old daughter.
00:05:06.300 I had no plans on lugging her up in a hotel room.
00:05:10.780 And another reason is because my wife has a medical condition,
00:05:14.760 which I brought with me.
00:05:17.880 She requires a very special diet.
00:05:20.060 I'm very allergic to food.
00:05:22.180 Exactly.
00:05:22.700 She cannot eat gluten, corn, soy.
00:05:26.220 Tomatoes.
00:05:27.060 Even tomatoes.
00:05:27.940 Yeah.
00:05:29.140 Some of the plants of the nightshade family.
00:05:30.840 So she has a very particular diet,
00:05:33.200 and the public health officers that were there that day
00:05:38.440 did not listen to us.
00:05:40.640 No, we showed the papers.
00:05:41.860 We showed them the papers.
00:05:43.300 And the situation.
00:05:44.580 Situation and all.
00:05:45.580 And at the end of the day,
00:05:46.880 they just wrote us huge tickets.
00:05:52.360 We both received $5,750 each,
00:05:57.100 totaling $11,500 in tickets.
00:06:02.760 And we didn't know what to do.
00:06:05.680 After getting home,
00:06:09.660 we decided to fight this, obviously.
00:06:14.400 We disputed the tickets.
00:06:16.940 After the 14-day quarantine,
00:06:18.520 we went to the courthouse and entered a dispute
00:06:21.960 and contacted Rebel News.
00:06:24.960 I heard of the fund you guys were managing
00:06:29.880 for helping Canadians fight the fines.
00:06:34.760 2021 was a big year in fighting lockdown fines.
00:06:39.120 In fact, we have helped over 2,200 people,
00:06:42.320 churches, and businesses in the fight the fines system.
00:06:45.660 Now, fight the fines is a civil liberties project
00:06:47.800 in partnership with the Democracy Fund,
00:06:49.540 where people suffering a lockdown ticket or infraction
00:06:52.080 are put in touch with top criminal and civil litigators
00:06:54.360 at no cost to them
00:06:55.300 through our special partnership
00:06:57.140 with that registered Canadian charity,
00:06:59.680 the Democracy Fund,
00:07:00.840 and through your crowdfunded donations.
00:07:03.160 And the wins have been really rolling in lately.
00:07:06.560 So fast, we can hardly report on them all.
00:07:08.800 But Drea Humphrey joins us today
00:07:10.080 with the story of a family
00:07:11.000 who was emigrating to Canada,
00:07:13.320 doing everything the right way,
00:07:15.240 and they still received a lockdown fine.
00:07:17.460 Drea, what happened here?
00:07:18.540 Well, absolutely.
00:07:19.940 The husband is a Canadian citizen,
00:07:22.840 but they had been living in Peru.
00:07:25.160 And according to them,
00:07:26.880 it's not so great for children
00:07:28.600 since life with COVID-19 there.
00:07:30.480 So they thought, you know what?
00:07:31.820 Let's take our odds with Canada.
00:07:33.840 And they came to Canada,
00:07:35.700 but, you know,
00:07:36.680 were totally treated like villains on the way in.
00:07:39.920 The wife actually has a lot of medical conditions.
00:07:43.680 She even brought paperwork.
00:07:45.100 Doctors helped fill it out.
00:07:46.380 So hopefully they would be able to go home.
00:07:49.520 Extreme dietary restrictions.
00:07:52.000 And as you probably know
00:07:53.200 from some of our previous reports,
00:07:55.220 if you've got allergies,
00:07:57.060 a quarantine hotel is not the place to be.
00:08:00.700 And so they were fined over $11,000
00:08:04.680 for saying,
00:08:06.220 no, it's safer for us to go home.
00:08:08.000 Sorry.
00:08:08.320 You know, that's crazy.
00:08:10.640 And as I was watching your video,
00:08:12.660 I thought, you know what?
00:08:13.960 Maybe these people should have just sashayed
00:08:15.680 through Roxham Road
00:08:16.940 and they wouldn't have got a fine.
00:08:18.640 They wouldn't have been charged
00:08:20.360 to stay in a quarantine hotel.
00:08:22.760 And the RCMP would have carried their baggage,
00:08:26.020 put them on the bus.
00:08:26.880 They would have went off to the quarantine hotel
00:08:28.520 where they would have got whatever food they wanted.
00:08:30.480 And then just off you go.
00:08:32.620 No testing or at least no fines.
00:08:34.720 No fines.
00:08:36.580 But these folks seem very nice.
00:08:39.980 They get punished
00:08:40.840 for trying to do everything the right way.
00:08:43.100 And this isn't the first thing we've seen of this.
00:08:45.520 We actually see Canadian citizens
00:08:47.320 in other instances getting COVID fines
00:08:50.760 for refusing to quarantine
00:08:52.560 in these jails that are, frankly, dangerous, as we know.
00:08:57.880 Absolutely.
00:08:58.560 COVID jails.
00:08:59.400 I believe in David's report,
00:09:01.060 back to the dietary thing,
00:09:02.820 there was a gentleman with seafood allergies
00:09:05.900 and he was given a tuna sandwich after starving.
00:09:08.920 He was in there starving.
00:09:10.460 It's ridiculous.
00:09:11.660 And then there's also been the claim
00:09:13.340 of sexual assault as well.
00:09:16.100 And it just scientifically or statistically,
00:09:18.360 it doesn't make any sense
00:09:19.680 because if you can go home,
00:09:20.940 if you have this safe place at home
00:09:22.660 and you can just be with your family,
00:09:24.960 why would you go to a hotel?
00:09:27.060 One of the reports that I covered,
00:09:29.200 they put you in a taxi,
00:09:32.660 a public taxi.
00:09:34.540 Like, it makes no sense.
00:09:35.700 And that taxi driver,
00:09:37.060 we interviewed some of the ones
00:09:38.200 that were picking up,
00:09:39.260 they pick up whoever they want.
00:09:41.040 So if you can go into a public taxi
00:09:42.920 to COVID jail,
00:09:43.940 why can't you just go home?
00:09:45.780 But what I love about Fight the Fines
00:09:47.560 is number one,
00:09:48.420 it gives us an opportunity
00:09:49.440 to report good news
00:09:51.000 when we get the winds coming in,
00:09:52.680 which these days is few and far between.
00:09:56.020 So I love that.
00:09:57.680 But just imagine the weight off your shoulder.
00:10:01.060 You're trying to move your whole family.
00:10:03.040 If you watch the report,
00:10:04.060 they mention there's a lot of costs,
00:10:05.560 obviously, with doing that.
00:10:07.000 And you get hit with an $11,000 fine.
00:10:09.360 Plus, you know it's wrong,
00:10:11.180 so you want to fight it.
00:10:12.740 And then thanks to the donors
00:10:14.460 who have generously supported Fight the Fines
00:10:17.820 and donated what they can
00:10:18.940 for top-not legal defense,
00:10:21.560 you get that weight off your shoulder
00:10:23.280 where the lawyers come and take care of it.
00:10:26.340 In this case,
00:10:27.380 it was a whole team effort
00:10:28.880 because there was all this bureaucracy happening.
00:10:31.720 So even Megan,
00:10:32.920 I believe she's a paralegal with the firm,
00:10:35.540 was helping out quite a bit there too.
00:10:37.960 Yeah, it's so unscientific.
00:10:40.260 The one thing I learned
00:10:41.200 from our legal challenge
00:10:43.560 to the COVID jails
00:10:44.760 at nocovidjails.com
00:10:46.380 was that if you present at the airport
00:10:50.260 and you either exhibit symptoms of COVID,
00:10:54.580 which can be anything from a sniffly nose
00:10:56.600 to like, I've got muscle aches.
00:10:59.120 Well, you just got off a long flight,
00:11:00.480 so that might explain it.
00:11:02.000 But even if you,
00:11:03.420 either you present with visible symptoms of COVID
00:11:06.060 or you just say you have symptoms of COVID,
00:11:08.780 you don't have to go to the COVID jail.
00:11:10.640 You go straight home.
00:11:11.900 The COVID jails are strictly for healthy people,
00:11:14.880 which makes absolutely no sense
00:11:16.880 because if you're healthy,
00:11:18.380 then you should just be able to go home.
00:11:20.560 But, you know,
00:11:21.440 if you show up at the airport and say,
00:11:22.760 they're like,
00:11:24.500 ah, get out of here,
00:11:25.280 go home.
00:11:27.940 But moreover,
00:11:28.700 to your point about
00:11:29.780 the help that we're able to give people
00:11:32.600 and really,
00:11:33.980 the thanks goes to the donors.
00:11:35.340 We hear the thank yous
00:11:36.340 because we hear the thank yous
00:11:38.680 because we are talking to people every day.
00:11:40.920 We're the sort of the go-between.
00:11:43.120 But the thanks really goes to the donors
00:11:44.320 and we get the pleasure of being the vehicles
00:11:47.840 by which the donors are connected
00:11:50.020 to the people that need help.
00:11:52.160 But I'm sure this is your experience too.
00:11:55.480 You're interviewing people
00:11:56.760 who have these enormous fines,
00:11:59.220 $11,000.
00:12:00.260 Sometimes it's the whole family
00:12:01.400 is fined $5,000 a pop.
00:12:03.940 And they can't believe
00:12:06.060 that total strangers
00:12:07.960 care so much about civil liberties
00:12:10.620 that they're willing to donate to help them.
00:12:13.640 So they can't even believe
00:12:15.060 that people care about the issue.
00:12:17.520 Little old me.
00:12:19.360 They're like,
00:12:20.120 why do people care about me?
00:12:21.320 But they also can't believe
00:12:22.380 that people care so much
00:12:23.820 that it's like,
00:12:25.000 here's one of Canada's best lawyers to help you.
00:12:27.280 They're so overwhelmed and so grateful.
00:12:29.340 And that's what I love
00:12:30.980 about Fight the Fines.
00:12:32.340 It fills the personal tank up
00:12:35.200 so you have all this energy
00:12:36.420 to fight another day.
00:12:37.460 Because I don't know about you,
00:12:38.600 but people always ask me,
00:12:39.600 how do you do your job?
00:12:41.160 You're dealing with bad news all the day.
00:12:42.380 I'm like, I get to hear the thank yous
00:12:44.080 that I don't deserve.
00:12:45.220 And that helps me fight another day.
00:12:47.760 Absolutely.
00:12:48.560 And like you said,
00:12:49.260 it's now over 2,200 cases.
00:12:52.220 One of the things they always say is,
00:12:53.640 yeah, I apply,
00:12:54.300 but I didn't actually expect to hear back, right?
00:12:56.800 Because they just like,
00:12:57.680 oh, maybe it's 20 people we've helped
00:12:59.960 or something like that.
00:13:00.980 And it's like, no, it's quite a bit.
00:13:03.020 So you're right.
00:13:04.560 It does keep us motivated.
00:13:06.080 Thank you guys so much for donating there
00:13:08.420 because you're making such a huge difference.
00:13:10.960 And you touched on this as well,
00:13:12.940 but a lot of people are,
00:13:14.200 you know, it's so divided.
00:13:16.220 Depending on what news they're watching,
00:13:17.860 it seems like everybody thinks a certain way.
00:13:20.180 So you're right,
00:13:21.260 like that people come together
00:13:22.300 and actually generously donate
00:13:24.960 towards an issue
00:13:26.000 that seems like such a taboo issue
00:13:28.000 in the first place.
00:13:28.720 It's like, no, I'm not alone.
00:13:30.160 And, you know, I should stand up for my rights.
00:13:32.480 And so it's very empowering.
00:13:34.440 And I don't think just for the person
00:13:36.220 who gets the help,
00:13:36.920 but also for the people who see the win, right?
00:13:39.380 It's really important.
00:13:40.420 And who knows the ripple effect that's happening.
00:13:43.300 Yeah, I completely agree.
00:13:45.180 Now, getting back to your story of this family,
00:13:48.320 what's next for them?
00:13:49.620 They're in Canada now.
00:13:51.020 Are they settled in?
00:13:52.800 Yeah.
00:13:53.420 Do they regret coming?
00:13:55.600 No, I don't think regret is the word
00:13:57.880 because again, according to them,
00:13:59.140 I do ask them in the report,
00:14:00.420 what life was like there.
00:14:01.800 And they said for kids in school,
00:14:04.540 it's pretty rough.
00:14:05.540 You'll have to watch the report,
00:14:06.860 but I think they said
00:14:07.620 the kids haven't really officially
00:14:09.260 gone back to school.
00:14:10.700 So that's hard.
00:14:11.500 And I believe they have three kids
00:14:12.900 and they're happy in the city
00:14:15.620 that they're in right now,
00:14:16.640 but they're not sure
00:14:18.440 if that's where they're going to end up staying.
00:14:20.140 But they're just concerned in general
00:14:22.680 across the globe, what's happening.
00:14:24.860 And, you know,
00:14:26.160 they're going to continue to stand
00:14:27.360 for their rights no matter what.
00:14:28.780 But I think there's not a huge sense of security,
00:14:32.440 especially when you enter the country that way.
00:14:34.220 You think you're going for refuge
00:14:35.640 to this true north, strong and free.
00:14:38.200 And then it's already,
00:14:39.220 you have a fight like that.
00:14:40.280 So, yeah, I guess the moral of the story here
00:14:42.800 is that even in Canada,
00:14:45.800 some place is always worse than you.
00:14:48.960 And I guess it's a story across the world,
00:14:51.660 except if you live in Australia,
00:14:53.220 because I don't know.
00:14:54.680 That's what it seems.
00:14:55.660 Australia, Drea, thank you so much
00:14:58.700 for the work that you do
00:14:59.960 for the Fight the Fines cases
00:15:02.480 that you're working with
00:15:03.800 and you're helping.
00:15:05.400 But also, thank you so much
00:15:06.740 just for the work that you've put in this year,
00:15:09.680 fighting for freedom,
00:15:10.700 fighting for the rights to small businesses,
00:15:12.960 and fighting for people's rights
00:15:14.920 to just go to work
00:15:15.820 and not have to produce proof of vaccination
00:15:19.660 or subject themselves
00:15:20.860 to a medical treatment that they don't want.
00:15:22.540 Let's hope things get better in 2022.
00:15:26.760 I am, however, not optimistic.
00:15:29.340 Well, I hope so.
00:15:30.040 And I had a great mentor.
00:15:31.260 So thank you, Sheila.
00:15:33.000 Thanks, Drea.
00:15:34.300 All right. Bye, everyone.
00:15:40.540 Today, I'm fighting big tech censorship
00:15:43.720 to bring you a voice
00:15:45.220 against these divisive vaccine passports.
00:15:49.120 I am proud to announce that I'm not long away
00:15:52.000 from launching a brand new exclusive campaign
00:15:55.280 to the UK with Rebel News
00:15:57.940 to fight back against these divisive
00:16:00.540 and privacy invading vaccine passports
00:16:03.620 that were rolled out to the entirety
00:16:05.720 of the United Kingdom recently.
00:16:07.820 However, we have run into some technical difficulties
00:16:11.680 that us at Rebel News thought it would be appropriate
00:16:14.800 to tell you all about.
00:16:16.660 The campaign that I am launching
00:16:18.400 is one big giant petition
00:16:20.380 that anyone in the United Kingdom can sign.
00:16:23.940 And my promise is to deliver your signature
00:16:27.620 straight to the doorstep of parliament,
00:16:30.460 where we will bring the message from the people
00:16:33.560 to the politicians
00:16:34.960 from all over the political spectrum.
00:16:37.660 So not only is it to prove
00:16:39.460 that we were never asked
00:16:41.300 for these discriminatory restrictions,
00:16:43.700 is that we don't need them and we want them gone.
00:16:47.580 Now, whilst I talk to you on camera,
00:16:49.740 we have a designated set of people
00:16:52.340 to help set up this giant petition
00:16:55.220 and a special website for you to visit
00:16:57.960 and sign your signature.
00:17:00.520 We've been doing a lot of preparation
00:17:02.020 and I've already finished a video
00:17:03.740 to debut the campaign launch.
00:17:07.460 However, something strange has happened.
00:17:10.640 A colleague of mine was arranging the URL
00:17:13.700 for this petition
00:17:15.180 and it was originally at
00:17:16.440 fightvaccinepassports.co.uk
00:17:19.380 and after trying to register this URL,
00:17:22.900 we received an email.
00:17:24.520 It explained that the domain
00:17:26.060 fightvaccinepassports got blocked
00:17:29.020 on the registry
00:17:30.400 for it potentially being,
00:17:32.740 and I quote,
00:17:33.900 malicious phishing activity.
00:17:36.860 Very odd.
00:17:37.860 Well, Canada isn't the only country
00:17:40.040 infected with the disease
00:17:41.380 of COVID vaccine mandates
00:17:43.740 and passports.
00:17:44.780 Our siblings in the Commonwealth
00:17:46.020 over in the UK
00:17:46.920 have recently adopted
00:17:48.080 a proof of vaccination policy
00:17:49.640 wherein certain people,
00:17:51.940 usually healthy,
00:17:53.020 are carved out of society
00:17:54.340 based on either their vaccine status
00:17:56.600 or their unwillingness
00:17:58.400 to provide their vaccine status
00:17:59.940 to total strangers.
00:18:01.600 Joining me now to discuss
00:18:02.640 the vaccine policy in the UK
00:18:04.120 and what he plans to do
00:18:05.780 to fight back
00:18:06.540 on behalf of normal people
00:18:07.720 is Rebel News UK correspondent
00:18:10.020 extraordinaire Lewis Brackpool.
00:18:12.020 Lewis, thank you so much
00:18:13.060 for joining me.
00:18:13.960 I guess my big question
00:18:15.960 is why the vaccine mandate
00:18:19.800 all of a sudden right now?
00:18:22.220 You guys have had vaccines
00:18:23.440 long before we did.
00:18:25.840 Yeah, yeah.
00:18:26.620 It's a very strange one,
00:18:27.860 isn't it, Sheila?
00:18:28.420 I mean, I think it's been
00:18:30.060 the plan all along, personally.
00:18:31.740 They've had ideas
00:18:33.300 of drawing up these plans
00:18:34.580 the past six months
00:18:36.400 and they decided
00:18:37.860 to put it through
00:18:38.520 the House of Commons
00:18:39.620 and have a vote on it
00:18:40.660 where 126 Tories
00:18:43.600 revolted against the mandates,
00:18:46.220 which was very interesting,
00:18:47.660 and the Labour candidates,
00:18:49.200 only seven, revolted against.
00:18:50.860 So it's unfortunately been passed
00:18:53.160 and now the people
00:18:54.420 have to suffer.
00:18:55.880 So it begs the question,
00:18:57.900 can over 300 MPs
00:19:00.420 really decide
00:19:01.380 the bodily autonomy fate
00:19:05.000 of the UK public?
00:19:07.120 And I personally don't think so,
00:19:09.060 which is why I've started up
00:19:10.300 this campaign
00:19:10.920 that we're about to discuss.
00:19:13.620 Before we get to that,
00:19:14.900 I just, I find it remarkable
00:19:16.440 that at least you had politicians
00:19:18.760 who engaged in a vigorous debate
00:19:20.380 on this subject
00:19:21.440 in so much of the rest
00:19:23.080 of the world,
00:19:23.660 in particular here in Canada,
00:19:24.820 we just have some
00:19:26.360 public health deity
00:19:27.460 at this point
00:19:28.340 who just decides
00:19:29.680 these things for everybody
00:19:30.960 and our politicians
00:19:31.760 just nod along.
00:19:33.180 They don't even consider
00:19:34.040 the fact that this is,
00:19:35.460 indeed,
00:19:36.240 a political move
00:19:37.560 that requires
00:19:38.400 political debate
00:19:39.600 around this.
00:19:40.640 Now, you've been out
00:19:41.640 and about in the public
00:19:43.000 talking to people
00:19:44.260 about this
00:19:45.020 and it is a real
00:19:46.240 cross-section of humanity.
00:19:48.300 You've got some people
00:19:49.120 who think,
00:19:50.200 yeah, it's fine.
00:19:50.980 I get to do whatever I want
00:19:52.180 because I'm vaccinated
00:19:52.940 so I guess everybody else
00:19:54.660 be damned.
00:19:55.820 And you do have other people
00:19:57.060 on the other side
00:19:57.920 who say,
00:19:58.480 this isn't for me,
00:19:59.780 I don't want any part of this
00:20:01.240 and I don't have a choice anymore.
00:20:04.360 What do you think
00:20:05.200 the breakdown is?
00:20:06.740 Is it like 50-50
00:20:08.040 or what do you think
00:20:09.260 the public's take is
00:20:10.400 on all of this?
00:20:11.760 I think the public take
00:20:13.100 is definitely rising against.
00:20:15.680 It was a majority,
00:20:17.280 I believe,
00:20:17.960 for a long time
00:20:19.220 because unfortunately
00:20:20.420 a lot of people
00:20:21.080 in the UK
00:20:21.580 have put their faith
00:20:22.860 in this government
00:20:23.520 as blasphemy as that is.
00:20:26.600 But we're now starting
00:20:27.760 to see a shift
00:20:28.560 in the polls.
00:20:29.600 A lot of polls
00:20:30.100 are coming out recently
00:20:31.140 that people are going
00:20:32.500 against these restrictions
00:20:34.020 ever since it came out
00:20:35.740 that Downing Street
00:20:36.540 hosted a big fundu
00:20:39.180 over the Christmas period
00:20:41.280 when everyone was locked down.
00:20:42.760 I think that's sort of
00:20:44.280 messed people up with that.
00:20:47.740 The thing is,
00:20:49.160 everyone has a limit,
00:20:50.260 don't they?
00:20:50.800 I mean,
00:20:51.220 some people it was very early,
00:20:52.840 some people it's late,
00:20:53.780 some people it was just
00:20:54.540 a Christmas party
00:20:55.500 that set people off
00:20:57.340 to make them go,
00:20:58.340 well, hang on a minute,
00:20:58.920 if they're not practising
00:20:59.840 what they preach,
00:21:00.660 why should I?
00:21:01.620 And it's a legitimate question.
00:21:03.820 If these politicians
00:21:04.740 keep pumping out
00:21:06.300 the fear-mongering
00:21:07.120 to the public
00:21:07.920 whilst not following
00:21:09.040 the rules themselves,
00:21:10.020 I mean,
00:21:11.000 is it any wonder
00:21:12.100 that the polls
00:21:12.680 are now starting to shift
00:21:13.980 and Boris Johnson
00:21:15.220 is looking like
00:21:16.180 he's in a bit of deep water
00:21:18.200 now with his party?
00:21:19.860 So, yeah,
00:21:20.680 I'm starting to see
00:21:21.780 a bit more of a revolt
00:21:23.300 than originally
00:21:25.480 six months ago,
00:21:26.880 which is great news
00:21:28.140 because it now shows
00:21:29.180 people really,
00:21:30.380 really do care
00:21:31.080 and they're starting
00:21:31.840 to see it for what it is.
00:21:33.760 Yeah,
00:21:34.200 I think there are
00:21:35.200 a lot of people
00:21:36.040 who,
00:21:37.480 for better or for worse,
00:21:38.800 probably for worse,
00:21:39.680 put their trust
00:21:40.900 in politicians,
00:21:44.260 in public health officials,
00:21:46.120 in the vaccines
00:21:47.140 and while they
00:21:48.160 didn't really have
00:21:49.440 an opinion
00:21:50.260 on the efficacy
00:21:51.040 of the vaccines,
00:21:52.520 they just went
00:21:53.500 and got a vaccine
00:21:54.680 because that was
00:21:56.160 their path to freedom.
00:21:57.820 I guess compliance
00:21:58.680 was their path to freedom
00:21:59.940 when you put it that way.
00:22:02.040 But for them,
00:22:03.140 that's what they saw
00:22:04.280 and now they're
00:22:05.160 double vaccinated
00:22:05.940 and they don't see
00:22:07.300 the freedom.
00:22:07.900 So they did their part
00:22:08.840 but the politicians
00:22:09.580 aren't doing their part
00:22:11.480 and I think there are
00:22:12.640 a lot of people
00:22:13.220 who are being mugged
00:22:14.500 by reality
00:22:15.260 by that fact
00:22:16.220 and I don't know
00:22:17.820 what it's like in the UK
00:22:18.640 but I know here in Canada
00:22:19.800 it's not falling down
00:22:22.040 along party lines.
00:22:23.060 There are people
00:22:23.400 from all over
00:22:24.160 the political spectrum
00:22:25.220 who are saying,
00:22:26.620 I did what they asked me to do.
00:22:29.100 They're not holding
00:22:29.740 their end of the bargain
00:22:30.760 and so when normally
00:22:32.040 it would be a pro-freedom,
00:22:33.440 pro-conservative issue,
00:22:35.020 it's people from the left
00:22:36.540 and the right
00:22:37.140 who are sort of
00:22:37.800 marching together
00:22:38.520 in the street.
00:22:40.120 Yeah, absolutely.
00:22:41.420 And I think this is
00:22:42.480 the one issue
00:22:43.080 that people from the left
00:22:44.060 and the right
00:22:44.420 are really coming together on.
00:22:46.220 When I go to these protests
00:22:47.400 and speak to the everyday person,
00:22:49.640 most of them
00:22:50.560 are just either,
00:22:52.600 they were Labour voters
00:22:53.520 or Conservative voters
00:22:54.920 that have revolted
00:22:55.900 and it's the one issue
00:22:58.040 that people are now
00:22:58.980 feeling so passionate about
00:23:00.300 is their own civil liberties
00:23:01.660 and I think that's
00:23:02.720 extremely important.
00:23:05.540 I mean,
00:23:06.000 you do get the odd bunch
00:23:07.560 that are, you know,
00:23:08.300 revolutionaries,
00:23:09.220 let's take down the system
00:23:10.540 and then you ask them,
00:23:11.480 well, what's the replacement
00:23:12.380 and they don't have the answer.
00:23:14.020 Classic, right?
00:23:15.620 And of course,
00:23:16.500 you've got people
00:23:17.020 on the right as well
00:23:18.480 where they might want
00:23:19.860 to cause trouble
00:23:20.560 but this is normal
00:23:22.440 with every movement.
00:23:23.880 It's just a case of
00:23:24.800 sticking onto topic
00:23:25.940 and that's fighting
00:23:26.980 the vaccine passports
00:23:28.160 and the mandates
00:23:28.880 and mass non-compliance,
00:23:31.420 I believe,
00:23:31.980 is the only way
00:23:32.820 to get out of this
00:23:33.840 because I don't see
00:23:35.440 any other resolution
00:23:37.000 because the politicians
00:23:38.340 have made up their minds.
00:23:39.820 I think it's now down
00:23:40.660 to the people
00:23:41.360 to decide their own fate.
00:23:44.160 Yeah, I think
00:23:44.580 there comes a point
00:23:45.500 where people have done
00:23:46.540 what you've asked them to do.
00:23:47.940 You didn't do your end
00:23:49.040 of the bargain
00:23:50.180 and people become ungovernable
00:23:52.700 because they see
00:23:54.200 that they see
00:23:55.260 that the rug
00:23:56.000 has really been pulled out
00:23:57.320 from under them
00:23:58.060 and I do find it remarkable
00:24:00.140 that you do have
00:24:01.860 this kaleidoscope
00:24:04.480 of humanity,
00:24:05.380 I guess is the right word,
00:24:07.280 at these protests
00:24:08.480 where you have
00:24:09.300 people from the left,
00:24:10.420 people from the right,
00:24:11.300 people who think
00:24:12.020 crystals cure cancer,
00:24:13.620 people from the religious right,
00:24:15.740 people like staunch,
00:24:17.540 like anti-government libertarians
00:24:19.200 and like the natural
00:24:22.440 health food people.
00:24:23.680 They're all marching
00:24:24.400 in the street together
00:24:25.400 and these are people
00:24:26.220 who would normally
00:24:26.760 cross the street
00:24:27.780 so that they don't have
00:24:29.220 to walk beside each other
00:24:30.480 and yet there are hardly
00:24:32.300 any political leaders
00:24:33.940 who look at that
00:24:34.700 and say,
00:24:35.260 there's a parade
00:24:36.200 that's marching,
00:24:37.300 I should get in front of it
00:24:38.960 and lead it.
00:24:40.680 They're all but absent.
00:24:42.300 It's very strange.
00:24:44.120 It is.
00:24:44.680 It is very strange
00:24:45.820 but this strangeness is good.
00:24:48.940 It's actually healed
00:24:50.600 a lot of the political divide.
00:24:53.820 Obviously, since 2016
00:24:55.420 when Trump was elected
00:24:56.980 in America, for example,
00:24:58.800 I mean, you saw
00:24:59.400 a staunch division
00:25:00.520 between people,
00:25:01.720 left and right,
00:25:02.400 Republicans, Democrats,
00:25:03.900 whoever
00:25:04.280 and now for the first time
00:25:06.740 that it's affecting everyone,
00:25:08.920 everyone's putting that aside
00:25:10.360 and going,
00:25:11.140 no, I'll fight for my fellow man
00:25:12.840 and woman.
00:25:13.780 So it is really,
00:25:15.080 really extraordinary to see
00:25:17.280 and, you know,
00:25:18.200 I've now collated
00:25:19.720 a lot of left-wing followers
00:25:20.920 so they're going to be
00:25:22.160 in a bit of a shock
00:25:22.940 when they find out
00:25:23.640 that I'm actually conservative.
00:25:25.120 So, but, you know,
00:25:26.620 at the end of the day,
00:25:28.520 what the common goal is
00:25:30.140 to eradicate tyranny.
00:25:32.220 That's the main goal,
00:25:33.820 to have more of a say
00:25:35.540 to the people,
00:25:36.260 to get the message out
00:25:37.220 from the people
00:25:37.860 back to the government
00:25:38.680 because debate seems
00:25:40.020 to be dwindling now
00:25:41.320 and the only debate
00:25:42.320 that's happening
00:25:42.940 is between the politicians
00:25:44.800 and not having
00:25:46.100 the people decide it.
00:25:47.780 The last time,
00:25:48.580 the last big thing
00:25:49.500 in the UK
00:25:50.020 that the people
00:25:50.760 had a big discussion
00:25:52.320 on was Brexit
00:25:53.080 and that divided the nation.
00:25:54.720 But now,
00:25:55.780 it's kind of flipped to,
00:25:57.880 well,
00:25:57.980 it's the politicians
00:25:58.760 now versus the people.
00:26:00.420 So,
00:26:01.040 we're going to see
00:26:02.060 an interesting development,
00:26:03.300 that's for sure.
00:26:04.640 Yeah,
00:26:04.800 it's funny,
00:26:05.600 you know,
00:26:06.700 you might get
00:26:07.180 the odd lefty
00:26:08.020 who all of a sudden
00:26:09.520 realizes it's actually
00:26:11.520 the conservatives
00:26:12.180 who are out here
00:26:12.940 fighting for my civil liberties
00:26:14.240 and my human rights
00:26:15.320 while the left
00:26:16.380 likes to paint itself
00:26:17.860 as the side
00:26:19.000 of human rights.
00:26:20.040 And so,
00:26:20.320 when those people
00:26:20.820 come around,
00:26:21.860 I don't want to prejudge
00:26:23.080 their past.
00:26:23.700 I want to get them
00:26:24.280 into the fold
00:26:24.860 when I've been out there
00:26:25.660 proselytizing
00:26:26.580 the good word
00:26:27.400 of small government
00:26:28.680 and leaving everybody alone.
00:26:30.260 Now,
00:26:30.960 Lewis,
00:26:31.540 you have not only
00:26:33.260 been out there
00:26:34.180 telling the stories
00:26:35.340 of the anti-lockdown protests
00:26:37.060 and the anti-vaccine
00:26:38.320 mandate protests,
00:26:39.520 but you're doing something
00:26:40.980 so that people
00:26:41.840 can take tangible action
00:26:43.780 and show the politicians
00:26:46.100 their discontent
00:26:47.260 because we know
00:26:47.960 the mainstream media
00:26:48.840 doesn't really cover
00:26:49.960 these protests fairly.
00:26:51.520 The politicians pretend
00:26:52.660 that the protests
00:26:54.120 really don't exist,
00:26:55.320 but you are going
00:26:56.600 to do something
00:26:57.220 that the politicians
00:26:58.320 cannot ignore.
00:26:59.680 Why don't you tell us
00:27:00.300 about it?
00:27:01.820 Sure.
00:27:02.500 Well,
00:27:02.840 I'm setting up
00:27:03.520 my very first
00:27:04.940 campaign in the UK
00:27:06.420 under Rebel News,
00:27:08.220 so I thank everyone
00:27:09.680 for being a part of this
00:27:10.880 and trying to help me
00:27:11.640 get this started,
00:27:13.160 where we are fighting
00:27:14.620 back against
00:27:15.620 the vaccine passports,
00:27:17.300 the pro-segregation
00:27:18.960 law that has just
00:27:20.560 been passed
00:27:21.100 into the UK
00:27:21.780 with the last country,
00:27:23.340 England,
00:27:23.840 within the United Kingdom
00:27:25.120 to have these
00:27:26.480 passports introduced.
00:27:28.080 And I'm setting up
00:27:29.300 one big petition
00:27:30.760 that if you sign it,
00:27:32.680 my promise is
00:27:33.540 to the people
00:27:34.260 is I will hand
00:27:35.700 deliver these
00:27:37.040 signatures
00:27:37.920 to the Houses
00:27:39.500 of Parliament
00:27:40.000 myself,
00:27:40.640 and I'm just
00:27:42.400 asking for a call
00:27:43.360 to action.
00:27:44.140 I'm sick and tired
00:27:45.420 of watching people
00:27:47.520 sit there and go,
00:27:49.060 well,
00:27:49.420 well,
00:27:49.860 the fight's over,
00:27:50.700 that's it,
00:27:51.400 let's just see
00:27:52.820 what happens,
00:27:53.640 oh,
00:27:53.820 it might be a good idea.
00:27:55.040 No.
00:27:55.620 We've seen that it's
00:27:56.360 not worked in other
00:27:57.200 countries like France,
00:27:58.700 Belgium,
00:27:59.520 et cetera,
00:28:00.020 et cetera.
00:28:00.860 We've seen it's
00:28:02.000 only causing
00:28:02.840 discriminatory divide
00:28:04.280 and that's it.
00:28:05.420 And now I think
00:28:06.280 it's time to take
00:28:07.200 the power,
00:28:08.040 sounds cringe,
00:28:08.980 but take the power
00:28:09.720 back to the people
00:28:10.660 and give them
00:28:12.180 a voice now.
00:28:13.060 So that is my promise.
00:28:14.220 I will hand deliver
00:28:15.280 your signature
00:28:16.520 to the Houses
00:28:17.740 of Parliament.
00:28:19.240 Well,
00:28:19.800 I think that's great
00:28:20.660 because it's a tangible
00:28:21.540 act that politicians
00:28:22.560 can't ignore.
00:28:23.520 When Louis Brackpool
00:28:24.400 walks in there
00:28:25.000 with a big stack
00:28:26.040 of paper
00:28:26.640 and thumps it
00:28:27.780 on the desk,
00:28:28.600 that's hard
00:28:29.720 to ignore
00:28:30.260 and each one
00:28:31.380 of those people
00:28:32.560 who have thrown
00:28:33.620 their name
00:28:34.100 onto your petition,
00:28:35.700 those are people
00:28:36.400 who are willing
00:28:36.900 to put their name
00:28:37.660 to civil liberties
00:28:39.140 of their fellow
00:28:40.160 UK citizens.
00:28:42.400 You know,
00:28:42.860 I'm sure you
00:28:44.300 encounter this too
00:28:46.080 when you're at
00:28:46.480 these anti-lockdown
00:28:47.340 protests.
00:28:47.760 There are plenty
00:28:48.200 of people who say
00:28:48.920 I'm vaccinated
00:28:49.740 but I don't want
00:28:50.800 to be a part
00:28:51.220 of a system
00:28:51.640 of segregation.
00:28:52.880 I don't want
00:28:53.440 to go somewhere
00:28:54.660 where my unvaccinated
00:28:56.180 friend or family
00:28:57.060 cannot go with me
00:28:58.060 and I think
00:28:58.860 that's what's
00:28:59.660 so important
00:29:00.280 is that,
00:29:00.840 as you say,
00:29:01.820 this unites people
00:29:03.180 across vaccination
00:29:04.380 status,
00:29:05.180 across party lines.
00:29:06.460 This is about
00:29:07.020 human rights
00:29:07.640 and anti-discrimination
00:29:08.720 and privacy.
00:29:11.500 Exactly.
00:29:12.520 And, you know,
00:29:13.380 I've always said
00:29:14.040 it's not about
00:29:16.160 the left or the right.
00:29:17.320 That's meaningless now.
00:29:18.380 It's the people
00:29:18.900 versus globalism now.
00:29:20.560 And I've always said
00:29:21.840 as well
00:29:22.380 that it's not
00:29:23.420 the unvaccinated
00:29:24.320 versus the vaccinators.
00:29:25.360 You can be
00:29:26.500 anti-mandates
00:29:27.520 and anti-segregation.
00:29:29.320 You know,
00:29:29.500 it's about choice.
00:29:31.140 That's the main thing.
00:29:32.140 It's about the freedom
00:29:32.980 of bodily autonomy
00:29:34.620 and choice.
00:29:36.080 And that's what's
00:29:36.960 extremely important.
00:29:38.640 And our free speech
00:29:40.120 laws suck
00:29:41.220 as it is
00:29:42.040 in the UK.
00:29:43.460 They're dwindling.
00:29:44.420 They've been dwindling
00:29:45.160 since the early 2000s
00:29:46.580 and it's got worse.
00:29:48.280 So,
00:29:48.720 now is the time
00:29:50.180 really to step up
00:29:51.280 and try and show
00:29:52.400 that the people
00:29:53.200 have more power
00:29:53.980 than they think.
00:29:55.440 Now,
00:29:56.120 if someone would like
00:29:57.780 to sign your petition,
00:29:59.080 where do they go?
00:30:01.260 So,
00:30:02.380 you can visit.
00:30:05.260 We had a bit of trouble,
00:30:06.540 didn't we,
00:30:06.880 with the link
00:30:07.480 recently
00:30:08.520 because,
00:30:09.220 unfortunately,
00:30:10.120 they've blocked
00:30:11.460 the
00:30:12.180 Fight Vaccine Passports UK
00:30:15.380 or .co.uk.
00:30:17.480 They've unfortunately
00:30:18.240 blocked that.
00:30:19.640 So,
00:30:20.000 the new link
00:30:21.080 is about to be
00:30:22.280 discovered.
00:30:23.520 So,
00:30:24.020 that will be
00:30:24.720 soon.
00:30:25.680 I'm sure
00:30:26.060 we'll get a banner
00:30:26.840 across there.
00:30:28.200 I'll have that
00:30:28.800 all over my social media
00:30:30.220 in my bios
00:30:31.180 and everything
00:30:31.960 so you can easily
00:30:32.940 access that
00:30:33.940 and you'll see
00:30:34.780 in this video
00:30:35.640 a bumper
00:30:37.000 with where you need
00:30:38.560 to go
00:30:39.000 because,
00:30:39.760 unfortunately,
00:30:40.360 I don't know
00:30:41.360 that link yet.
00:30:42.120 Yeah,
00:30:42.980 we've had some
00:30:43.780 problems
00:30:45.060 across the world
00:30:46.260 actually
00:30:46.780 with companies
00:30:48.460 blocking access
00:30:49.500 to our petitions
00:30:50.460 but tentatively
00:30:51.580 this was at
00:30:52.380 fightvaccinepassports.co.uk
00:30:55.440 and hopefully
00:30:56.420 it stays there
00:30:57.340 because we want
00:30:58.660 to make this
00:30:59.080 one of our
00:30:59.560 largest petitions ever.
00:31:00.860 You're standing up
00:31:01.700 for the rights
00:31:02.920 of your fellow
00:31:04.280 British citizens
00:31:05.420 to be able
00:31:06.240 to be free
00:31:06.880 to go
00:31:07.380 and live their lives
00:31:08.280 as normally
00:31:09.140 as possible.
00:31:09.760 Louis,
00:31:10.120 thank you so much
00:31:10.940 for the hard work
00:31:12.000 that you're doing
00:31:12.560 over in the UK
00:31:13.280 and thank you
00:31:14.100 for all your hard work
00:31:15.340 for the team
00:31:16.260 since joining it
00:31:17.020 this year.
00:31:17.500 I'm so glad you did
00:31:18.360 because the UK
00:31:19.360 is a big place
00:31:20.100 with a lot of problems.
00:31:22.460 Thank you very much,
00:31:23.540 Sheila.
00:31:23.760 I really appreciate
00:31:24.460 you having me on as well.
00:31:25.680 Thank you.
00:31:26.640 Thanks, Louis.
00:31:33.540 Huh?
00:31:34.740 Look around.
00:31:35.520 I hit my car.
00:31:36.520 Yeah,
00:31:37.300 you'd like to see that.
00:31:38.600 I wouldn't like to see that.
00:31:39.760 It means a lot
00:31:42.100 of paperwork
00:31:42.520 for me.
00:31:43.300 Yeah.
00:31:46.120 I don't know.
00:31:46.600 Stay back.
00:31:47.220 Stay back.
00:31:49.140 Stay back.
00:31:49.980 Stay back.
00:31:50.620 What are you doing?
00:31:51.660 Get off me.
00:31:53.200 Hey, I can...
00:31:55.520 Move.
00:31:55.900 Hey, this is assault.
00:31:57.240 Move.
00:31:57.840 I'm on a side...
00:31:58.940 Move.
00:31:59.160 I'm on a sidewalk.
00:32:02.720 I'm on a sidewalk.
00:32:06.160 What is this?
00:32:07.340 You cannot touch me.
00:32:08.840 You're not rushing or working.
00:32:11.180 Hey.
00:32:13.260 I'm like...
00:32:13.920 Are you kidding?
00:32:16.580 Are you kidding?
00:32:17.580 Let's go of me.
00:32:19.700 What is this?
00:32:22.180 You can't...
00:32:22.980 Am I under arrest?
00:32:24.120 Am I under arrest?
00:32:26.880 Am I under arrest?
00:32:28.540 Because otherwise you have no right.
00:32:30.200 Oh my...
00:32:32.200 I'm out of my side.
00:32:35.540 Huh?
00:32:39.460 What's that?
00:32:40.100 I'm under arrest.
00:32:41.300 I'm under arrest.
00:32:41.440 I'm under arrest.
00:32:43.860 I'm under arrest.
00:32:44.360 I'm under arrest.
00:32:45.100 I'm under arrest.
00:32:45.720 Thanks.
00:32:47.260 Huh?
00:32:48.620 Wow.
00:32:51.500 Get off of me.
00:32:52.620 Guys, relax.
00:32:54.440 Get off of me.
00:32:55.480 Bye.
00:32:56.440 As David Menzies says,
00:32:57.920 letters, letters, letters,
00:32:58.940 we get your letters,
00:32:59.840 and boy,
00:33:00.240 do we ever get your letters.
00:33:01.460 All day, all night,
00:33:02.400 viewer feedback,
00:33:03.200 tips and story ideas.
00:33:04.540 Now, I do my best to read them,
00:33:06.140 though I may not always respond.
00:33:07.860 Now, this week I got a letter
00:33:09.260 that I am very glad to have received
00:33:11.900 and to be able to read
00:33:13.020 from a lady named Bonnie,
00:33:15.340 originally from Alberta's Lakeland region.
00:33:18.240 Now, some of you may know
00:33:19.160 that David Menzies spent some of his time
00:33:21.440 as a young cub reporter
00:33:23.080 out there in the Lakeland area
00:33:25.400 near Bonnieville, Smoky Lake,
00:33:27.040 St. Paul, Wabiska.
00:33:28.700 Anyway, David made quite an impact on Bonnie
00:33:31.780 when she was about 10 years old.
00:33:34.000 She even sent me some newspaper clippings
00:33:36.920 of the story David did about her.
00:33:39.340 So, let's read her letter together.
00:33:41.320 Good evening, David.
00:33:42.460 I was again greatly disheartened
00:33:44.000 to see you and Rebel News
00:33:45.440 mistreated recently while reporting.
00:33:47.880 I thought I would share with you
00:33:49.140 how important your work is
00:33:50.620 and has been,
00:33:51.980 including to me personally, I believe.
00:33:54.680 Please find attached
00:33:55.860 two newspaper clippings
00:33:57.420 from way back,
00:33:59.500 from Bonnieville,
00:34:01.300 from about 1983,
00:34:03.340 when I was about 9 or 10 years old
00:34:05.780 at the time where I spent
00:34:07.100 part of my childhood
00:34:08.160 and learned French.
00:34:09.340 If I am not mistaken,
00:34:11.740 you personally covered the story
00:34:13.560 in person
00:34:14.480 of some French class awards
00:34:16.640 from the school
00:34:17.440 that were awarded
00:34:18.240 at the local French cultural center
00:34:20.440 in Bonnieville.
00:34:22.020 I believe I am the little girl
00:34:23.960 in the front row
00:34:25.180 very center in the attached.
00:34:27.720 I remember a tall,
00:34:29.480 red-haired reporter
00:34:30.680 with a great laugh
00:34:32.060 who, despite talking
00:34:33.600 to the adults at the center,
00:34:35.720 actually took the time
00:34:36.920 to talk to me personally
00:34:38.140 and ask me about my trophy
00:34:40.060 and ask me what I got it for
00:34:42.280 when I approached
00:34:43.720 the cookie and juice table.
00:34:45.620 It would be David
00:34:46.300 to be parked by the food,
00:34:47.700 by the way.
00:34:48.420 Anyway, let's carry on.
00:34:50.500 I remember it was
00:34:51.580 a super cold day
00:34:52.800 and you, the reporter,
00:34:54.200 was getting a hot drink
00:34:55.140 to warm up
00:34:55.740 after arriving
00:34:56.640 to cover the story.
00:34:57.560 I remember the reporter
00:34:59.700 being sincerely interested
00:35:01.340 and professional
00:35:02.700 on the job about it.
00:35:04.700 That interaction
00:35:05.500 with the reporter
00:35:06.160 was the first time
00:35:07.180 I realized
00:35:07.880 that something I did
00:35:09.220 or work I put in
00:35:10.880 could matter to the media,
00:35:13.020 actually make the news,
00:35:14.660 and maybe even be important
00:35:16.380 or of interest
00:35:17.220 to the whole community.
00:35:19.060 The trophy is gone
00:35:20.380 and the quality of my French
00:35:21.620 has varied greatly
00:35:22.460 over the years,
00:35:23.360 but I have kept
00:35:24.300 these clippings
00:35:25.220 all these years
00:35:26.500 despite many, many moves
00:35:28.100 for school and work
00:35:29.320 and my own children
00:35:30.220 having gone through school
00:35:31.460 in between
00:35:32.040 because they still remind me
00:35:33.920 of how special
00:35:34.680 the reporter in particular
00:35:36.040 made the day
00:35:37.180 for me personally.
00:35:38.820 The excitement
00:35:39.400 among my friends
00:35:40.820 of the media
00:35:41.820 covering the story
00:35:42.860 and because the clippings
00:35:44.420 remind me
00:35:45.300 of that feeling
00:35:46.140 of accomplishment
00:35:46.960 and spark
00:35:47.960 of future potential
00:35:49.240 if I kept trying.
00:35:51.280 I have made the news
00:35:52.800 over the years,
00:35:53.760 but this remains
00:35:54.900 one of my favorites
00:35:56.380 still.
00:35:57.580 Years later,
00:35:58.540 watching Rebel News,
00:35:59.900 you and Sheila
00:36:00.480 were talking about
00:36:01.360 your time
00:36:01.880 as a young reporter
00:36:02.760 in Bonneville
00:36:03.480 and I was delighted
00:36:05.160 at the potential connection
00:36:06.560 to such a great memory.
00:36:08.520 Whether or not
00:36:09.260 it was you
00:36:09.820 who was the reporter
00:36:10.740 at the time,
00:36:11.340 though I think
00:36:11.820 you might have been him
00:36:13.060 if memory serves,
00:36:14.600 I came away
00:36:15.340 with the knowledge
00:36:15.920 that media matters,
00:36:17.580 sincere reporting matters,
00:36:19.180 and media community connection
00:36:21.660 most certainly matters.
00:36:23.140 Your reporting matters today.
00:36:25.920 Thank you for all you do
00:36:27.780 and for all that Rebel News does.
00:36:30.400 Bonnie
00:36:30.880 This is a really good reminder
00:36:33.060 to me as a journalist,
00:36:34.140 but to the journalists
00:36:35.000 I work with
00:36:35.620 and to everybody,
00:36:36.560 I think,
00:36:37.080 that every interaction
00:36:38.400 we have with people
00:36:39.200 is something that
00:36:39.880 they will remember
00:36:40.820 and that's why
00:36:41.960 it's so important
00:36:42.600 to get those interactions right
00:36:44.020 and to treat people
00:36:45.280 with fairness
00:36:45.900 and dignity
00:36:46.720 and with respect.
00:36:48.300 They might just remember
00:36:49.380 you decades later
00:36:50.360 for the decent human being
00:36:51.780 that you are,
00:36:53.280 just like Bonnie
00:36:54.300 remembered David Menzies
00:36:55.880 for the man he is.
00:36:57.500 Well, everybody,
00:36:58.380 that's the show for tonight.
00:36:59.380 Thank you so much
00:37:00.080 for tuning in.
00:37:00.860 Happy New Year.
00:37:02.200 Like I said,
00:37:02.960 David should be back
00:37:03.900 in the big chair
00:37:04.560 in the new year
00:37:05.540 and I sincerely thank
00:37:07.940 all of you
00:37:08.340 for your concern
00:37:09.080 and notes about David
00:37:10.160 that you've CC'd me on.
00:37:11.780 They really do warm my heart.
00:37:13.540 Now,
00:37:13.900 as David Menzies says,
00:37:15.060 and I could be getting this wrong
00:37:16.120 because I did get it wrong
00:37:17.320 two weeks ago,
00:37:18.860 without risk,
00:37:20.160 there can be no glory.
00:37:21.780 We'll see you next time.
