Summary

Last weekend, Canada celebrated her country s 155th birthday with Canada s biggest birthday bash on Parliament Hill, but it was nothing short of a police state in the capital city of Ottawa. Not only was there a heavy police presence in the streets, but there were metal detectors and pat downs at every entrance to Parliament Hill. It was reminiscent of the Rolling Thunder event in late April, when hundreds of bikers paid tribute to our veterans by riding around the National War Memorial.

00:00:00.000 shame on you you sensorious bug
00:00:30.000 call me a radical call me outrageous call me a loose cannon but I always thought that a birthday
00:00:35.840 party should be a celebratory occasion that it should be you know fun and festive last Friday
00:00:43.340 was Canada's 155th birthday and I'm certain millions of Canadians found ways to celebrate
00:00:49.740 the occasion with family members and friends soaking up that July 1st weather punctuated
00:00:55.780 with barbecuing and beer drinking ah the sweet sweet summertime it's always too short a season
00:01:03.160 in Canada is it not but if you happen to show up on Parliament Hill last weekend which is typically
00:01:10.620 home to Canada's biggest birthday bash well fun and frivolity and festivity were replaced by the
00:01:17.000 hallmarks of a police state I do not exaggerate folks Dominion Day weekend was reminiscent of the
00:01:24.760 Rolling Thunder event in late April that's when hundreds of bikers planned to ride around the
00:01:30.280 National War Memorial to pay tribute to our veterans now this was not a protest nor a demonstration
00:01:37.820 it was all about bikers many of them veterans themselves showing respect to those individuals
00:01:44.080 that Justin Trudeau says are asking for too much August 24th 2015 you made the promise
00:01:52.360 and I'll quote it here no veteran will be forced to fight their own government for the support and
00:01:58.780 compensation they have earned yet you are still currently in a legal battle with veterans regarding
00:02:05.080 equal support and compensation to their peers you have ISIL or ISIS members coming into a reintegration
00:02:16.360 program you did a backdoor deal with Omar Qadar with not even stepping into the courtroom you know so
00:02:24.160 again my question is what veterans were you talked about was the ones that fought for the freedoms and
00:02:31.600 values that you so proudly boast about or was it the ones who fought against because honestly mr. prime
00:02:37.840 minister I was prepared to be injured in the line of duty when I went to when I joined the military
00:02:43.900 nobody forced me to join the military I was prepared to be killed in action what I wasn't prepared for mr.
00:02:52.420 prime minister is Canada had turning its back on me
00:03:01.300 so which veteran was it that you were talking about
00:03:04.420 why are we still fighting against certain veterans groups in court because they're asking for more than we are able to give right now
00:03:17.420 but Ottawa went into full shutdown mode in April reducing rolling thunder to a tiny trickle
00:03:24.420 most of the bikers never got into downtown Ottawa with their hogs in fact if you are riding a Harley that weekend and displaying shockers
00:03:33.420 shockers a Canadian flag chances are you were profiled by law enforcement and essentially told that
00:03:40.980 undesirables weren't welcome in Ottawa so kindly get out of Dodge if you know what's good for you
00:03:47.740 indeed more than a thousand additional law enforcement personnel from other police services in Ontario
00:03:54.300 were called into Ottawa to patrol the streets and set up checkpoints and write tickets there was no way
00:04:02.500 justin trudeau was going to allow freedom convoy 2.0 to happen even though that was never the intention of the bikers in the first place
00:04:11.840 everybody knew that to be true including the prime minister so the whole exercise was basically law enforcement street theater
00:04:20.520 it was the justin trudeau liberals demonstrating to the people of Ottawa that they were going to do everything possible
00:04:28.900 to protect the citizens even though there was no clear and present danger to begin with
00:04:35.400 then again to paraphrase a Tina Turner song what's truth got to do with it
00:04:41.800 and so it was that Dominion Day weekend in Ottawa was deja vu all over again in terms of the capital city morphing into a police state
00:04:50.900 those temporary no stopping signs popped up all over downtown hey you couldn't even idle your car upon a legal parking spot
00:04:59.380 unless you wanted to have your vehicle hauled away to some impound lot and many were
00:05:05.340 the no stopping signage stated that a so-called special event was taking place in Ottawa
00:05:12.420 special event uh like what was an outdoor rock concert or a circus or something like that coming to town
00:05:20.080 oh goodness gracious no the special event is what the liberals referred to as the suspension of the rights
00:05:28.160 and freedoms and liberties Canadians used to freely embrace and enjoy be it freedom of expression
00:05:36.180 or freedom of religion the members of the Ottawa police service and Ottawa by law enforcement
00:05:43.080 were on constant patrol last weekend ticket books and handcuffs at the ready
00:05:49.500 oh isn't that special
00:05:52.500 no it was grotesque actually
00:05:56.120 Canadian families were showing up to Parliament Hill to celebrate Canada's birthday
00:06:01.180 and they were being demonized as either a basket full of deplorables
00:06:07.180 thanks Hillary or a bunch of yahoos
00:06:10.300 thanks Premier Ford and gee whatever happened to you Doug
00:06:14.700 the fireworks display was moved to another area and the traditional flyover by the snowbirds was cancelled
00:06:21.580 even ice cream trucks were told to move along or get fined
00:06:25.820 Ottawa was truly a fun-free zone during Canada's birthday
00:06:31.160 and yet no one was coming to Parliament Hill wearing trouble on their shirt sleeves
00:06:37.120 actually folks I'm getting ahead of myself
00:06:40.700 getting onto Parliament Hill was no sure thing last weekend you see
00:06:46.020 the Parliamentary Protective Service set up airport-style security at the entrance to the hill
00:06:53.480 complete with metal detectors and pat-downs
00:06:56.560 it was surreal and get this when my cameraman Mauricio and I arrived in Ottawa on June 29th
00:07:03.520 we were actually denied entry to Parliament Hill
00:07:07.320 and even suspended from the hill for the rest of the day because
00:07:11.820 we would not surrender our devices such as cameras and cell phones
00:07:16.740 you see the gatekeepers wanted to go through our photo and video libraries
00:07:21.480 they wanted to permanently erase content that they did not approve of
00:07:27.440 were we in Canada in 2022 or East Berlin circa 1946
00:07:33.400 check it out
00:07:34.360 check it out
00:07:39.360 so maybe is it like sort of like the we the fringe flags or the F Trudeau flags
00:07:45.320 would that you know the we the fringe the F Trudeau flags would that be under the ban maybe or
00:08:03.320 that's it pretty sure okay but I'm not sure I would all again I would probably double check with the supervisor or something
00:08:09.280 they're all there's so many different like things that are not allowed and if I'm not sure I just double check with the supervisor
00:08:15.280 but I wouldn't see why it would be allowed all there's like a big list
00:08:20.280 sure but there's a full list like of all the items that are allowed and not allowed here
00:08:25.280 sure I would just be really personally interested in the flag policy man just
00:08:30.500 like you see a lot of Ukrainian flag people are standing and solidated in Ukraine right
00:08:34.660 would that be allowed or for sure yeah okay all right all right so I'm gonna ask you to turn off the camera please
00:08:39.820 this is security no security we don't film sorry can you delete it
00:08:43.520 can you delete it no yeah you need to delete it it's security you can't film
00:08:49.120 why would I because this is security when you go to the airport do you film inside
00:08:53.920 okay then well we have a policy of not deleting it no but this is security here this is security
00:08:59.860 you can't film anything beyond security you're allowed to do anything you want but anything here
00:09:06.080 you can't film you can't take pictures I'm going to ask you to delete it therefore for the rest of the
00:09:09.980 night uh we are not allowed on parliament hill can you believe that needless to say we did not
00:09:17.220 comply with their orders and we were promptly suspended so much for freedom of the press I guess
00:09:25.420 but get this just like the overwhelming presence of law enforcement the security checkpoints
00:09:32.000 were also about putting on a show as opposed to doing something tangible you see with my suspension
00:09:40.400 from the hill over I returned to parliament hill on sunday july 3rd to see if it would be if I would
00:09:47.220 be allowed to stand on the grassy incline I turned off my recording devices got in line got patted down
00:09:54.620 got scanned had my bag thoroughly searched and then once past checkpoint charlie I began to fill my report
00:10:02.760 and that's when a most amazing thing occurred the security checkpoint I had just passed through
00:10:09.920 was disassembled and packed away in a van check it out
00:10:14.960 so in other words had I visited parliament hill just five minutes later I wouldn't have had to have
00:10:38.120 gone through security I guess criminals and terrorists only attempt to get on the hill
00:10:43.100 before 5 p.m. as opposed to after 5 p.m. does this make any sense to anyone of course not it was
00:10:51.920 completely nonsensical what's more this too with so much security street theater orchestrated by the
00:10:59.600 Trudeau liberals in order to pretend they were protecting Canadians from a threat that did not exist
00:11:08.000 the freedom convoy may be long gone from Ottawa but the demonization and vilification continues
00:11:15.780 you know it was enough to make one protest all of these indignities except that parliament hill was
00:11:22.320 inexplicably a protest free zone during dominion day weekend case in point there was a political
00:11:30.020 prisoner currently incarcerated in Ottawa these days that would be Tamara Leach her imprisonment
00:11:36.740 is an outrage of course but look what happened when a supporter wrote free Tamara Leach in chalk
00:11:43.460 upon a sidewalk I was helping uh write I was helping write uh free Tamara and free Pat King political
00:11:52.600 prisoners across the Wellington street and I was pulled over and given a fine of about 1130 dollars
00:11:58.820 what did you use what did you use to write that on the streets chalk so parliament hill which should be
00:12:04.260 the one place in Canada where protests against the government should be deemed sacred is now a
00:12:12.180 demonstration free zone and how did that happen and is this the so-called new normal moving forward
00:12:20.560 golly it was only two summers ago that BLM protesters were painting Black Lives Matter on streets and sidewalks
00:12:28.100 they didn't receive any tickets in fact those Marxists even vandalized and tore down statues they didn't
00:12:35.220 care for and not only did law enforcement turn the other cheek they actually bent the knee in solidarity
00:12:42.940 with these vandals uncanny oh we also happened upon street preachers on Wellington street last weekend
00:12:50.580 but alas preaching the gospel and handing out leaflets would not be tolerated either
00:12:58.040 by town's brave and bold bylaw officers descended upon these preachers en masse
00:13:04.080 they were told they could not remain stationary even though they were not impeding the passage of anyone
00:13:11.200 they were however permitted to walk and talk yeah walk and talk you know
00:13:18.260 like prisoners in the penitentiary yard during exercise period then again downtown Ottawa in many
00:13:26.600 regards last weekend resembled a maximum security facility and from the fund police to the flag police
00:13:34.600 the gatekeepers at parliament hill were very picky about which flags one could bring up upon the hill
00:13:42.620 assuming you were allowed on the hill that is in any event the Canadian flag which is now vilified in
00:13:50.520 some circles thanks to its association with the freedom movement was thankfully allowed to be displayed
00:13:57.320 but I was informed flags bearing slogans such as F Trudeau and we the fringe were verboten apparently
00:14:05.740 one is not allowed to hurt the feelings of the governing liberals anymore it's not a law of course
00:14:12.580 it's just a memo oh I asked about another flag that is very popular these days namely the blue and yellow
00:14:20.140 flag of Ukraine can one display that on the hill I inquired and the officer said I had raised a very good
00:14:28.820 question and that she'd have to check with her supervisor to see if indeed the Ukrainian flag could be displayed
00:14:36.580 no folks I am not making this up you see the theme on the hill on this particular weekend was that Ottawa
00:14:45.020 would be a so-called hate free zone and so it was that the display of certain flags preaching the gospel
00:14:55.280 writing messages of solidarity for Tamara Leach heck even making unnecessary noise all of that was deemed to be
00:15:05.440 acts of hatred but as this grotesque clampdown of freedom of expression was taking place in Ottawa all in
00:15:15.640 the name of stamping out hate well get a load of what was taking place just down highway 401 in Toronto
00:15:23.260 on that very same weekend I speak of the conference that was staged by the Muslim Association of Canada
00:15:31.280 at the Enercare Centre the conference was rife with hate now you are forgiven if this comes as news to you
00:15:40.800 given that there was virtually zero mainstream media coverage of this event however thankfully Terry
00:15:49.360 Glovin of the National Post did write about this event in a recent column entitled quote the liberals are
00:15:57.380 funding hate how else to describe the speakers at this Toronto convention end quote the subhead states
00:16:06.060 quote speakers at Muslim Association of Canada gathering will include one who advocates the death penalty for
00:16:13.820 homosexuality and another who says it's okay to beat your wife end quote oh Nelly surely there must be some
00:16:23.420 mistake here there were folks at this hogtown gathering who were advocating execution for gays
00:16:31.000 and on the heels of pride month no less and wife beating too now call me rash but I think this business of
00:16:40.180 physically beating up a insubordinate female is the very textbook definition of oh you know misogyny
00:16:47.300 here's what Mr. Glavin chronicled quote homosexuality is filthy and homosexual acts warrant the death penalty
00:16:55.540 Christian Arabs who protect Jews from murderers are traitors a man should be permitted to beat his wife
00:17:03.400 these are among the obscene ideas promoted by several of the individuals who will be featured speakers
00:17:12.620 at a national three-day conference beginning on Canada Day in Toronto hosted by an organization
00:17:19.940 that the Trudeau government has provided with more than three million dollars in federal anti-hate
00:17:27.680 youth engagement and security funding over the past three years end quote
00:17:34.140 geez Louise where oh where are the hate police when you really need them
00:17:40.320 oh but it gets worse as Glavin notes it is the Muslim Association of Canada that is playing the victim
00:17:47.920 card these days you see the association claims it has been unfairly singled out by the Canada Revenue
00:17:54.900 Agency the CRA has been auditing the Muslim Association of Canada going back to 2015 and the association
00:18:03.520 claims there was a quote systemic Islamophobic bias in the bureaucracy end quote
00:18:11.260 and get this the association's biggest ally is none other than drumroll please Prime Minister Justin Trudeau
00:18:22.220 yes the PM actually suggested last year that the organization's Islamophobia allegations may indeed have some
00:18:31.940 merit as Glavin notes in Trudeau's opening comments to a mostly closed Islamophobia summit in Ottawa last July
00:18:40.600 the PM said the CRA should abandon practices that target Muslims said Trudeau quote institutions should support people
00:18:52.920 not target them end quote um is that right even when those institutions might be you know breaking the law Justin
00:19:03.420 it's fascinating Trudeau is basically telling the tax man to back off because he believes the CRA is
00:19:13.340 systemically Islamophobic then again Trudeau has a much better use for the CRA these days doesn't he
00:19:21.720 which is to say of course he wants the CRA to go after independent media organizations such as rebel news
00:19:29.960 given that we are not on the list of so-called qualified Canadian journalism organizations
00:19:37.180 yes our mission statement is to provide the other side of the story and that's not quite halal when it comes to the Trudeau liberals
00:19:45.720 given how hell-bent they are to introduce laws that will give them the power to actually censor the internet
00:19:54.060 but these censorious thugs take no issue whatsoever with the speakers at last weekend's Muslim Association of Canada event
00:20:04.200 such as Mohammed Ratab al-Nablusi this Syrian citizen is best known for his Nablusi Encyclopedia of Islamic Science
00:20:15.980 oh some science more like weird science that's because this charming document defends the death penalty
00:20:24.200 as a punishment for homosexuality on the grounds that being gay quote involves a filthy place
00:20:31.980 and does not generate offspring end quote gee how odd I didn't hear of the spirit unicorn people
00:20:39.920 staging a protest outside the inner care center last weekend then there was the events featured speaker
00:20:47.480 that would be Jamal Baddawi who says that Islam permits wife beating and he is also someone who defends
00:20:57.240 suicide bombings as heroic acts as heroic acts so there you have it folks advocating death to gays
00:21:05.540 and endorsing wife beating and giving the thumbs up to deadly acts of terrorism um am I missing some nuance here
00:21:15.920 because this rhetoric really sounds very hateful indeed but then again in the stupefying words of our prime minister
00:21:25.760 maybe me and you were experiencing things differently what a vile horrific double standard that is at play here
00:21:37.980 and while several speakers at the Muslim Association of Canada event were preaching violence and even death
00:21:47.080 to certain identifiable groups where aware was the police or bylaw enforcement
00:21:53.880 oh yeah I forgot they were too busy in Ottawa shutting down street preachers and prohibiting free Tamara Leach
00:22:04.320 graffiti being written on the sidewalk and banning flags that were deemed too impolite to the Liberal Party of Canada
00:22:13.640 this is the state of affairs in Canada today
00:22:18.400 Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his boyfriend Jagmeet Singh have absolutely no problem embracing such a despicable double standard
00:22:30.120 and such horrific hypocrisy
00:22:33.060 tell me
00:22:34.860 do you have a problem with it?
00:22:48.400 well folks going back a few days ago this week that was quite the bombshell wasn't it
00:22:55.060 Patrick Brown disqualified by the Conservative Party of Canada
00:22:59.660 but really was it a bombshell?
00:23:03.100 I mean Patrick Brown and scandal go together like macaroni and cheese
00:23:08.340 and now that Brown is out of the race
00:23:11.460 even though he's down he's not out
00:23:14.060 he's still fighting but I doubt he's going to have a favorable outcome
00:23:17.940 the question arises
00:23:20.140 is this now going to be a coronation of Pierre Paulyev
00:23:24.440 and who better to weigh in on this subject
00:23:27.660 than the big boss man himself
00:23:29.520 and that would be Ezra Levent from Calgary
00:23:32.140 how are you doing there Ezra?
00:23:34.180 I'm doing great by the way David thanks very much for hosting the show today
00:23:37.180 and to our viewers at home
00:23:39.340 thank you
00:23:39.920 I like to do the show as often as I can
00:23:42.540 but occasionally I have to travel
00:23:43.900 I'm in Calgary at the temporary office where we're housing our rebels
00:23:48.160 there's none behind me
00:23:50.160 but we have about eight people working out of here
00:23:52.640 and we hope to have a forever home soon
00:23:56.260 but one of the things I'm doing in town is later this afternoon
00:24:00.020 and we're talking midday
00:24:02.200 so by the time this airs it will have happened
00:24:04.420 our friends at the Western Standard Online
00:24:07.220 are hosting a CPC Conservative Party of Canada leadership contest
00:24:12.840 and in some ways it's anticlimactic
00:24:16.920 because I think one of the clashes people expected would be Paulyev versus Brown
00:24:22.260 well Brown is out of it for now
00:24:24.620 and I understand that Paulyev is ducking the debate again
00:24:28.280 on the one hand David I could understand why someone who's such a front runner
00:24:32.120 would say I'm not going to go to the debate
00:24:34.260 I've already been to a couple
00:24:35.960 I don't want to go to any more because there's no upside for me
00:24:39.840 party members already like me
00:24:41.540 I'm controlling my message by doing these prepared videos straight to the internet
00:24:45.900 there's no reason I would go just to be a punching bag
00:24:49.560 I'm going to do my own thing
00:24:51.460 so I understand that from his own point of view
00:24:53.820 however from a news point of view and a party member point of view
00:24:58.160 they probably would like to see more cut and thrust
00:25:00.860 it also is sort of a power move saying I don't need to be there
00:25:04.960 I feel like I'm going to win
00:25:06.880 let's just get over this whole preliminaries and assume I'm going to win
00:25:12.420 now I think there is some sense to that
00:25:15.280 if the membership sales numbers as reported in the media are accurate
00:25:21.240 Paulyev sold over 300,000
00:25:23.240 twice as much as Patrick Brown himself claims to have done
00:25:26.340 and most likely an insurmountable number
00:25:29.720 and that seems to ring true
00:25:30.760 because as you know David
00:25:31.760 when Paulyev would do events
00:25:34.400 they were very large
00:25:35.580 in Calgary where I am today
00:25:37.560 he did an event over 5,000 people
00:25:39.980 that's unusual
00:25:41.200 especially in the springtime, summertime
00:25:43.300 to get that many people out
00:25:45.240 I admire many of the other candidates
00:25:48.440 I have an affection for Roman Baber
00:25:51.520 his principled, thoughtful, even lawyerly opposition to the lockdowns
00:25:56.680 when he was an MPP in Doug Ford's government
00:25:59.560 I think was really the best performance of any lockdown skeptic in the country
00:26:04.060 it was reasoned
00:26:05.580 it was calm
00:26:06.400 it was scientific
00:26:07.300 it was thoughtful
00:26:08.020 and the fact that he was thrown out by Doug Ford
00:26:11.960 is an eternal disgrace on Ford
00:26:13.560 of course I'm a sentimental fan of Leslie Lewis
00:26:17.360 who I think is a wonderful part of the Conservative Party
00:26:20.520 there are some other candidates
00:26:22.640 I think Jean Charest
00:26:23.440 I've got to say this
00:26:24.400 Jean Charest is a red Tory
00:26:25.740 he used to be a liberal
00:26:27.700 and he supports things that rock-ribbed conservatives don't
00:26:31.320 that said
00:26:32.600 David, I've got to tell you
00:26:34.200 I'm glad he's in the race
00:26:35.240 and I don't
00:26:36.940 I think he and Pierre Paulyev are bashing each other pretty hard
00:26:40.260 but I don't think that's a bad thing
00:26:42.540 let the party have a good hearty debate now
00:26:45.860 and really decide who it is
00:26:47.560 I think the problem with the previous two leaders
00:26:49.280 Aaron O'Toole
00:26:49.960 and Andrew Scheer before him
00:26:51.880 is that they wanted to be all things to all people
00:26:54.220 and they actually flip-flopped and tricked people afterwards
00:26:58.160 let us decide what the party stands for
00:27:01.420 by having party members truly vote
00:27:03.440 and have clear choices
00:27:04.340 so I do not begrudge Jean Charest his candidacy
00:27:07.840 I don't think he's going to win
00:27:09.140 and frankly I don't think he's going to run
00:27:11.640 if he doesn't win
00:27:12.800 but I like the fact that he wanted to run
00:27:15.440 and I actually find myself liking him as a person
00:27:18.920 of course I'm more conservative than him
00:27:20.980 of course I would rather have a rock-ribbed conservative as a leader
00:27:24.540 but I'm glad he's running
00:27:26.260 and I don't think he's crooked
00:27:28.580 or sneaky
00:27:30.260 in the way that Patrick Brown showed himself to be
00:27:33.440 so I sort of like where the race is going
00:27:35.320 I will be covering the debate today
00:27:37.040 even though it's going to be a little bit anticlimactic
00:27:39.320 and to Sharae's credit too Ezra
00:27:41.980 he always hung around after the previous debates
00:27:45.340 to take questions
00:27:46.380 whereas some candidates just bolted for the exit
00:27:50.460 but my friend what's consuming the oxygen right now
00:27:53.820 when I was driving into headquarters
00:27:55.960 I was listening to all the talk radio
00:27:57.440 everyone's still leading with the Patrick Brown scandal
00:28:00.900 and I want to get your take on this Ezra
00:28:02.940 because it's so due rigueur for Patrick Brown
00:28:07.060 there was a pattern here
00:28:08.740 regardless of where this man is doing his politicking
00:28:13.000 or who he's doing it for
00:28:14.300 and it's he breaks the rules
00:28:16.420 he tries to get away with it
00:28:18.420 he gets caught
00:28:19.700 and then when he gets caught
00:28:21.060 he goes on the offensive saying
00:28:23.720 it's a conspiracy
00:28:24.900 everyone's out to get me
00:28:26.940 I'm the victim here
00:28:28.380 you're re-victimizing the victim
00:28:29.880 of course he's lawyered up with maybe
00:28:32.220 perhaps the most prominent criminal lawyer in the country
00:28:36.300 Ezra Marie Heinen
00:28:37.680 and yet I'm wondering if that is going to amount to a hill of beans
00:28:42.340 we've seen previous judgments in the past
00:28:44.580 where judges have said
00:28:46.100 sorry a political party
00:28:47.860 it's like a private company
00:28:49.240 a private club
00:28:50.560 they get to set their own rules
00:28:52.420 even if they've done something undemocratic
00:28:54.960 as Patrick Brown accuses the CPC of
00:28:57.500 it doesn't matter
00:28:58.640 what's your take
00:28:59.820 does he have a snowball's chance in hell
00:29:02.340 of getting reinstated into the race
00:29:04.980 by lorrying up like this
00:29:06.780 well look
00:29:08.040 no one in the public knows
00:29:10.580 the details of the allegations against him
00:29:13.220 that caused the conservative party to disqualify him
00:29:16.800 you must acknowledge
00:29:18.520 it was quite weird
00:29:19.580 that that disqualification happened
00:29:21.340 close to midnight
00:29:23.080 a few days ago
00:29:24.340 and if Patrick Brown is to be believed
00:29:26.300 and that's a big if
00:29:27.400 he claims he didn't know that was coming
00:29:29.520 until he saw it in the media
00:29:30.660 and he replied
00:29:31.780 even later that night
00:29:33.540 so
00:29:33.820 we don't know what the allegations are
00:29:36.240 were they the allegations that you flushed out
00:29:38.320 in your great investigative work
00:29:40.860 with our young reporter Lincoln Jay
00:29:42.780 or
00:29:44.200 is there something darker
00:29:46.240 I understand that
00:29:48.380 Elections Canada may be involved
00:29:50.360 I don't like Elections Canada
00:29:51.980 I don't really trust them
00:29:53.000 and as to your question of courts overruling
00:29:56.420 listen we want systems to be fair
00:29:58.420 and if someone spends $300,000
00:30:00.020 or whatever it was
00:30:00.980 entering a race with certain rules
00:30:03.100 I think it is in the interest of society
00:30:06.320 that
00:30:06.620 you know
00:30:07.540 whatever that contract is
00:30:08.740 if I pay you $300,000
00:30:09.940 to run with these rules
00:30:12.320 those are going to be the fair rules
00:30:13.720 so I
00:30:14.040 I think there is some place for a court
00:30:16.200 to intervene in a party matter
00:30:18.440 but I do not want to get to the point
00:30:21.600 where unelected unaccountable judges
00:30:24.200 appointed by who knows who
00:30:25.500 become the deciders
00:30:27.660 for who gets to be
00:30:29.300 a political candidate or not
00:30:32.180 so I do want
00:30:33.720 the deference to be
00:30:35.140 to the political parties
00:30:36.300 to make up their own rules
00:30:37.300 and if they
00:30:37.720 make up rules unfairly
00:30:39.300 let the voters punish them
00:30:40.520 so I think
00:30:42.320 Patrick Brown
00:30:42.980 again I'm putting myself in his shoes
00:30:44.260 even though I don't support the guy at all
00:30:45.920 I think he's wise to lawyer up
00:30:49.980 because
00:30:50.320 I think it's quite likely
00:30:51.760 he doesn't
00:30:52.400 he hasn't had full due process
00:30:54.560 and
00:30:55.080 even if he knows he's cooked
00:30:57.840 and I think he's cooked
00:30:58.720 I think he would have lost to Pierre Polia
00:31:01.000 I think that
00:31:02.600 he has a hopeless legal appeal
00:31:05.240 but he wants to show that he's going down fighting
00:31:08.180 Patrick Brown
00:31:09.420 I know one thing about him
00:31:10.640 he's unethical
00:31:11.620 I think in some ways he's even sociopathic
00:31:13.860 but he has a work ethic and an ambition
00:31:16.140 that is quite remarkable
00:31:18.100 and he's being dumped and thrown out time and again
00:31:22.380 but he seems to bounce back
00:31:23.680 I think he wants to end his dalliance
00:31:26.660 with the Conservative Party of Canada leadership
00:31:28.220 going down fighting
00:31:29.840 so he can later say
00:31:30.880 well I never accepted
00:31:32.140 I did anything wrong
00:31:33.040 well I tried to fight
00:31:34.780 but I was shut out
00:31:35.620 so I'm going to run for
00:31:37.520 mayor of
00:31:38.780 Thunder Bay
00:31:40.160 whatever his next move is
00:31:41.880 I'm going to run for
00:31:43.520 premier of
00:31:44.660 Nova Scotia
00:31:45.700 and I'm throwing those out there
00:31:47.440 because they're so disconnected to him
00:31:49.440 just like the city of Brampton
00:31:50.980 he had very little to do with Brampton
00:31:52.440 until one day he said
00:31:53.380 oh I can become mayor there
00:31:55.080 because I was thrown out
00:31:56.180 as the PC party leader of Ontario
00:31:58.040 so I think that Patrick Brown is young enough
00:32:00.220 and has enough connections and money
00:32:03.680 and certainly ambition
00:32:04.960 and cold heartedness
00:32:07.200 that he has not done his political career
00:32:09.360 so he wants to end this
00:32:11.280 as positively as possible
00:32:12.920 he does not want to admit anything
00:32:14.540 he wants to say
00:32:15.780 it was rigged
00:32:17.000 he wants to blame others
00:32:18.860 he blames Rebel News
00:32:20.420 he wants to blame Storm
00:32:21.960 so that he can fight another day
00:32:24.180 and say
00:32:24.440 oh that whole thing
00:32:26.120 well that was an inside job
00:32:28.020 I was framed
00:32:29.280 I never had a chance
00:32:30.920 that's why I'd like you to make me
00:32:32.740 mayor of
00:32:33.700 Montreal
00:32:34.760 or whatever he says next
00:32:37.100 oh Ezra
00:32:37.700 what do you have against the people of Montreal
00:32:39.600 and Nova Scotia
00:32:40.600 and Thunder Bay
00:32:41.240 but you know what
00:32:42.120 going back to what you said at the beginning
00:32:43.360 I agree with you Ezra
00:32:44.360 that I wish there was more transparency
00:32:46.580 from the CPC
00:32:47.740 in terms of the nitty gritty details
00:32:50.820 of what Patrick Brown did wrong
00:32:53.900 although I tend
00:32:55.280 if you're telling me
00:32:56.580 who do you believe
00:32:57.520 Patrick Brown
00:32:58.280 or fill in anyone in the world
00:33:00.820 I'm going with Mr. Rex
00:33:03.220 but the other thing my friend
00:33:05.040 do you
00:33:06.160 I think
00:33:07.020 whatever the reason is
00:33:08.820 and whether he's guilty or not
00:33:10.920 for that matter
00:33:11.580 we kind of got
00:33:13.080 a foreshadowing
00:33:14.340 of his leadership style
00:33:15.820 by him being
00:33:17.080 the mayor
00:33:17.740 of Brampton
00:33:18.840 the last four years
00:33:20.660 and by that Ezra
00:33:21.780 as you know
00:33:23.180 he has
00:33:24.500 effectively
00:33:25.280 cancelled
00:33:26.160 the last
00:33:27.320 four
00:33:28.040 city of Brampton
00:33:29.280 council meetings
00:33:30.200 he's got some
00:33:31.400 minion councillors
00:33:32.580 that are loyal to him
00:33:33.520 they simply do not show up
00:33:35.280 there is no quorum
00:33:36.680 therefore the meeting
00:33:37.700 is not legal
00:33:38.680 and the reason why
00:33:40.360 he wants these meetings cancelled
00:33:42.380 is because on the docket
00:33:44.260 there are motions
00:33:45.160 about several
00:33:46.640 forensic investigations
00:33:48.420 about how he's done
00:33:50.100 contracts in the city
00:33:51.360 how he's done hiring
00:33:52.740 you know Ezra
00:33:53.680 to me
00:33:54.060 if this guy was prime minister
00:33:55.580 it'd be like
00:33:57.100 proroguing parliament
00:33:58.740 all the time
00:33:59.940 in case something sensitive
00:34:01.460 comes up
00:34:02.720 what are your thoughts
00:34:03.820 on that my friend?
00:34:05.260 Yeah I know you and I
00:34:06.060 talked a bit about this
00:34:07.120 earlier this week
00:34:07.760 and I agree with you
00:34:08.740 and you know
00:34:09.920 you'll never know
00:34:11.100 what didn't happen
00:34:12.960 what might have happened
00:34:14.180 we'll never know
00:34:14.720 we can only speculate
00:34:15.600 but I think that
00:34:17.680 I mean Patrick Brown
00:34:19.580 is in his 40s
00:34:20.580 I think his character
00:34:22.840 is formed
00:34:23.540 and it is very unlikely
00:34:25.200 that his personality
00:34:26.580 and that his flaws
00:34:27.820 and virtues
00:34:28.360 will change
00:34:29.080 I mean it's like
00:34:30.300 cement that has fixed
00:34:31.880 that has set
00:34:33.400 and I think that he has
00:34:35.720 I'm not even going to call them
00:34:37.120 ethical blind spots
00:34:38.200 because that implies
00:34:38.980 that it's somehow
00:34:39.940 accidental or unwitting
00:34:41.760 I think that he is
00:34:42.860 amoral
00:34:44.220 and he will literally
00:34:45.820 do anything
00:34:46.820 and justify the means
00:34:48.940 and if
00:34:50.080 he was derailed here
00:34:52.200 in part by your journalism
00:34:53.960 and in part by other things
00:34:55.120 we don't know
00:34:55.720 we will never know
00:34:57.440 if that saved Canada
00:34:59.340 from an ethical
00:35:00.360 and corruption disaster
00:35:01.780 if
00:35:02.560 I mean we see
00:35:03.640 what Justin Trudeau
00:35:04.940 is doing to the country
00:35:06.160 by installing his cronies
00:35:08.080 in the RCMP
00:35:09.260 in various ministries
00:35:11.880 in
00:35:12.320 like just seeing
00:35:13.780 the disaster
00:35:15.200 that Justin Trudeau is
00:35:17.000 now Justin Trudeau
00:35:18.360 is a globalist
00:35:19.360 and
00:35:20.300 he's
00:35:21.160 he's a narcissist
00:35:22.200 but in many ways
00:35:23.920 he's not particularly
00:35:24.820 intellectual
00:35:25.420 and he's sort of
00:35:26.560 animated by
00:35:28.200 handlers
00:35:28.900 and others
00:35:29.960 with Patrick Brown
00:35:33.460 I think it's
00:35:34.300 selfish
00:35:34.840 self-serving
00:35:35.720 and
00:35:37.820 and personally
00:35:38.580 corrupt
00:35:39.200 a lot of his
00:35:40.160 is enriching himself
00:35:41.840 and
00:35:42.660 just personal power
00:35:43.880 and putting someone
00:35:45.200 like that
00:35:45.840 in charge of Canada
00:35:46.960 forget liberal
00:35:48.260 or conservative
00:35:49.480 party labels
00:35:50.200 I think Patrick Brown
00:35:51.840 at the top
00:35:52.620 of the apex
00:35:53.380 of our country
00:35:54.740 in a position
00:35:56.420 where he makes
00:35:57.120 all the major
00:35:57.940 appointments
00:35:58.660 whether it's to the Supreme Court
00:36:00.560 or the ambassadorships
00:36:02.600 or
00:36:03.580 chiefs of staff
00:36:05.060 and cabinet ministers
00:36:05.900 where he
00:36:06.420 and where he's in charge
00:36:08.960 of procurement
00:36:09.800 I think that
00:36:11.500 you know
00:36:12.760 there's a phrase
00:36:14.240 kleptocracy
00:36:15.380 sometimes
00:36:16.580 third world countries
00:36:18.100 sort of banana republics
00:36:19.300 a strong man leader
00:36:20.860 hoovers out
00:36:22.060 billions of dollars
00:36:23.940 from the country
00:36:24.940 think of Nicolas Maduro
00:36:26.140 and Hugo Chavez
00:36:27.860 in Venezuela
00:36:29.240 I truly think
00:36:31.060 we'll never know
00:36:32.160 we'll never know
00:36:32.900 but someone with
00:36:34.600 the morality
00:36:35.720 and the ethics
00:36:36.540 of Patrick Brown
00:36:38.360 as leader of Canada
00:36:39.740 he could have
00:36:40.840 Venezuela'd us
00:36:41.940 and I know you're saying
00:36:43.060 oh Ezra
00:36:43.440 that's impossible
00:36:44.180 we have such
00:36:44.940 strong institutions
00:36:46.080 such checks and balances
00:36:47.160 really?
00:36:48.120 show me how those
00:36:48.880 checks and balances
00:36:49.580 have worked over the last
00:36:50.460 two years
00:36:51.000 rebuffing Trudeau
00:36:52.700 but Trudeau
00:36:53.960 is a lazy man
00:36:55.100 and Trudeau
00:36:56.360 sort of floats along
00:36:58.280 gusts of winds
00:36:59.120 while he has
00:37:00.300 a retinue
00:37:01.580 of thinkers
00:37:02.320 around him
00:37:02.900 Trudeau was not
00:37:03.560 really the master
00:37:04.300 of things
00:37:04.860 Patrick Brown
00:37:06.340 would be
00:37:07.580 an obsessive
00:37:09.420 control freak
00:37:10.300 putting his cronies
00:37:11.580 everywhere in the government
00:37:12.740 this is my prediction
00:37:14.200 had he won
00:37:15.660 and we will never know
00:37:17.240 the disasters
00:37:18.480 that were averted
00:37:19.420 by keeping him
00:37:20.740 out of that top chair
00:37:21.780 the people in the city
00:37:22.880 of Brampton
00:37:23.500 are getting a taste
00:37:24.860 of those disasters
00:37:25.740 luckily it's just
00:37:27.040 Brampton sized
00:37:28.120 and not Ontario sized
00:37:29.920 or Canada sized
00:37:30.880 no Ezra
00:37:31.900 I totally agree with you
00:37:32.860 we'll never know for sure
00:37:33.920 but I have a hunch
00:37:34.980 how things would go
00:37:35.900 in this country
00:37:36.620 with Patrick Brown
00:37:37.620 as prime minister
00:37:38.440 and I think he
00:37:39.900 when it comes to
00:37:40.580 the grifting file
00:37:41.560 I think he would make
00:37:42.520 Justin Trudeau
00:37:43.280 look like a Bush leaguer
00:37:44.500 and I base that
00:37:45.800 on his behavior
00:37:46.640 in the last four years
00:37:47.680 in the city of Brampton
00:37:48.600 people might not know this
00:37:50.160 but when he was elected
00:37:51.160 in 2018
00:37:51.940 Ezra
00:37:52.940 one of his first
00:37:54.380 orders of business
00:37:55.440 was to fire
00:37:56.980 the integrity commissioner
00:37:58.540 at the city of Brampton
00:38:00.140 and replace him
00:38:01.420 with a personal friend
00:38:03.000 so then we exposed him
00:38:04.600 in the hockey rink
00:38:05.460 and there was
00:38:06.160 an investigation
00:38:06.980 the
00:38:07.760 I'm not even going to
00:38:09.200 call it a slap on the wrist
00:38:10.220 the only thing
00:38:11.080 she found him guilty of
00:38:12.460 was not wearing
00:38:13.540 his mask
00:38:14.560 in the arena
00:38:15.300 yeah he's guilty
00:38:15.740 you're guilty
00:38:16.700 of looking so good
00:38:18.060 yeah
00:38:19.040 you know what
00:38:20.260 I mean
00:38:20.660 and it's important
00:38:22.960 and let me close on this
00:38:24.020 it's important that
00:38:24.840 conservatives
00:38:25.480 have this kind of
00:38:27.480 hygiene in their own
00:38:28.380 movement
00:38:28.700 and one of the things
00:38:29.380 I'm most proud of
00:38:30.380 of Rebel News
00:38:31.220 and frankly of you David
00:38:32.260 and I don't think
00:38:32.760 I say it enough
00:38:33.460 is that you in particular
00:38:35.860 are not afraid
00:38:36.820 to hold conservatives
00:38:38.620 to account
00:38:39.320 whereas there are
00:38:40.800 some conservative
00:38:41.440 journalists
00:38:41.900 who would never try
00:38:42.720 like the disgraced
00:38:44.020 Brian Lilly
00:38:44.680 of the Toronto Sun
00:38:46.580 who claims to be
00:38:47.440 conservative
00:38:47.880 but would never say
00:38:48.640 anything critical
00:38:49.320 of Doug Ford
00:38:50.740 now that's partly
00:38:51.400 because his mistress
00:38:52.900 is Doug Ford's
00:38:54.000 communications assistant
00:38:55.040 but it's also
00:38:56.860 because he
00:38:57.640 sucks up to power
00:38:58.920 and on the left
00:39:00.400 we see that a lot
00:39:01.360 we see
00:39:02.240 the Toronto Star
00:39:03.620 the CBC
00:39:04.240 who are very good
00:39:04.980 at holding conservatives
00:39:05.740 to account
00:39:06.260 put on kids gloves
00:39:07.940 when dealing
00:39:09.080 with liberal politicians
00:39:10.120 especially Trudeau
00:39:11.680 one of the things
00:39:13.000 that I think
00:39:13.420 makes Rebel News
00:39:14.120 special
00:39:14.560 and that I personally
00:39:15.320 believe in
00:39:15.980 is that we are
00:39:17.620 we hold conservatives
00:39:19.280 to account
00:39:19.940 maybe even more
00:39:21.200 vigorously
00:39:21.720 than we hold
00:39:22.220 liberals to account
00:39:23.020 because we feel
00:39:24.200 disappointed
00:39:24.800 and tricked
00:39:25.860 when conservatives
00:39:26.820 are not conservative
00:39:27.620 I don't think
00:39:28.580 anyone in the country
00:39:29.640 has been tougher
00:39:31.280 on Jason Kenney
00:39:32.100 than we have been
00:39:32.800 I think we have been
00:39:35.020 very vigorous
00:39:35.640 against Doug Ford
00:39:36.440 yep
00:39:37.000 we were very vigorous
00:39:38.600 Ford's
00:39:39.140 critics
00:39:40.000 excuse me
00:39:40.540 of Aaron O'Toole
00:39:41.420 and I think
00:39:43.180 that other journalists
00:39:44.320 would have said
00:39:44.680 well you're conservative
00:39:45.540 go easy
00:39:46.120 on the conservative guy
00:39:47.120 no
00:39:47.460 because we're not
00:39:48.920 loyal to a party
00:39:49.940 we're not loyal
00:39:51.540 to a person
00:39:52.560 or a politician
00:39:53.680 or a prince
00:39:55.140 we're loyal
00:39:56.160 to the ideas
00:39:57.040 the system
00:39:58.260 of accountability
00:39:58.940 and democracy
00:39:59.780 and so I think
00:40:01.580 it's interesting
00:40:02.440 that the person
00:40:04.360 who did the most
00:40:05.480 vigorous investigation
00:40:08.100 into the character
00:40:08.940 of Patrick Brown
00:40:10.400 was not the Toronto Star
00:40:11.880 not a Brampton newspaper
00:40:13.320 not the CBC
00:40:14.280 not the Globe and Mail
00:40:15.320 despite their
00:40:15.880 massive resources
00:40:16.760 it was by a
00:40:18.500 conservative news
00:40:19.340 organization
00:40:20.000 and by a young man
00:40:21.340 named David Menzies
00:40:22.800 and his understudy
00:40:23.660 Lincoln Jay
00:40:24.220 and that
00:40:25.060 there's something
00:40:25.640 special about that
00:40:26.800 that the conservative
00:40:28.260 outlet
00:40:28.980 Rebel News
00:40:29.860 has been keeping
00:40:31.160 the house clean
00:40:31.980 when it comes to
00:40:33.240 so-called conservatives
00:40:34.380 like Patrick Brown
00:40:35.140 well Ezra
00:40:36.240 I want to thank you
00:40:37.380 for your
00:40:38.420 kind words
00:40:39.620 and listen
00:40:40.600 my friend
00:40:41.100 we could talk
00:40:42.440 all day
00:40:42.940 about this
00:40:43.680 until the cows
00:40:44.400 come home
00:40:44.860 and speaking of cows
00:40:45.640 I want to wish you
00:40:47.260 a happy stampede
00:40:48.800 weekend
00:40:49.740 I don't know
00:40:50.620 if you know this
00:40:51.120 or not Ezra
00:40:51.880 but when I started
00:40:52.880 my journalism career
00:40:53.820 in Alberta
00:40:54.340 one of my first
00:40:55.340 assignments
00:40:55.760 was going to
00:40:56.540 the 1985
00:40:57.320 Smoky Lake
00:40:58.460 Alberta Rodeo
00:40:59.540 that was my
00:41:00.740 first rodeo
00:41:01.560 I decided to do
00:41:02.600 George Plimpton
00:41:03.360 journalism
00:41:03.840 by riding a bull
00:41:04.980 it was the
00:41:05.840 bucking bull
00:41:06.440 champion
00:41:06.900 of the province
00:41:07.700 the previous year
00:41:08.600 ended up in hospital
00:41:10.040 so it was my
00:41:10.800 last rodeo
00:41:11.860 please Ezra
00:41:12.920 for goodness sakes
00:41:13.860 don't do
00:41:14.680 what I did
00:41:15.520 don't do the
00:41:16.100 stupidity of
00:41:16.780 getting on a bull
00:41:17.820 or anything
00:41:18.920 with hooves
00:41:20.060 and you know
00:41:21.560 have a great weekend
00:41:22.580 and we're all
00:41:23.420 going to look forward
00:41:23.960 to your coverage
00:41:25.080 of the debate
00:41:25.680 thank you so much
00:41:26.780 my friend
00:41:27.300 thank you
00:41:28.480 and that was
00:41:30.760 Ezra Levent
00:41:31.640 in Calgary
00:41:32.960 keep it here folks
00:41:34.200 more to come
00:41:35.220 on the Ezra Levent show
00:41:36.780 right after this
00:41:37.880 well folks
00:41:49.860 topping the
00:41:50.540 newscasts
00:41:51.340 for the last
00:41:51.960 few days
00:41:52.720 in Canada
00:41:53.560 has been
00:41:54.500 the latest
00:41:55.700 Patrick Brown
00:41:56.600 scandal
00:41:57.080 and of course
00:41:57.660 you had lots
00:41:59.320 to say
00:41:59.680 about it
00:42:00.300 as well
00:42:00.900 Bob Wallace
00:42:02.460 writes
00:42:02.920 this guy
00:42:04.000 Patrick
00:42:04.780 politics
00:42:05.620 was a laser
00:42:06.800 guided
00:42:07.260 professional
00:42:08.220 choice
00:42:08.740 for him
00:42:09.180 lying
00:42:10.300 cheating
00:42:10.980 stealing
00:42:11.600 from the
00:42:12.040 taxpayer
00:42:12.580 keep it up
00:42:13.720 rebels
00:42:14.040 well thanks so much
00:42:15.120 for that comment
00:42:15.800 my friend
00:42:16.240 but here's the deal
00:42:17.220 wouldn't you say
00:42:18.420 by now
00:42:19.080 Patrick should
00:42:20.740 learn from his
00:42:21.660 mistakes
00:42:22.180 but it's the
00:42:23.300 same old
00:42:23.940 same old
00:42:24.680 regardless what
00:42:25.540 campaign he's in
00:42:26.600 he breaks the
00:42:28.060 rules
00:42:28.320 he gets caught
00:42:29.000 breaking the
00:42:29.500 rules
00:42:29.820 and then he
00:42:31.060 goes out
00:42:31.580 and depicts
00:42:32.200 himself as
00:42:33.220 the victim
00:42:33.740 of some
00:42:34.560 conspiracy plot
00:42:36.400 to get him
00:42:37.060 no Patrick
00:42:38.460 maybe the
00:42:39.140 problem
00:42:39.580 is you
00:42:40.840 we agree
00:42:42.100 to disagree
00:42:42.880 writes
00:42:43.440 his first
00:42:44.260 response
00:42:44.740 to the
00:42:45.080 news
00:42:45.440 is
00:42:45.880 you're
00:42:46.640 not
00:42:46.980 supposed
00:42:47.420 to be
00:42:48.000 here
00:42:48.380 to make
00:42:49.220 it worse
00:42:49.700 the legacy
00:42:50.360 media
00:42:50.880 would call
00:42:51.740 the news
00:42:52.340 inappropriate
00:42:53.260 we all
00:42:54.520 know this
00:42:54.960 is true
00:42:55.360 yeah isn't
00:42:56.180 it odd
00:42:56.660 I mean
00:42:57.220 we here
00:42:57.700 at rebel
00:42:58.060 news
00:42:58.300 we have
00:42:58.700 broken
00:42:59.020 so many
00:42:59.960 scandalous
00:43:01.120 Patrick
00:43:01.740 Brown
00:43:02.100 stories
00:43:02.700 and the
00:43:03.800 mainstream
00:43:04.140 media
00:43:04.560 well they
00:43:05.140 either
00:43:05.540 ignore
00:43:05.980 the
00:43:06.200 stories
00:43:06.660 or they
00:43:08.000 then run
00:43:08.700 with the
00:43:09.100 story
00:43:09.560 themselves
00:43:10.180 but they
00:43:10.680 don't give
00:43:11.360 us any
00:43:12.360 credit
00:43:12.880 gee guys
00:43:14.500 pick a lane
00:43:15.440 already
00:43:15.860 well that
00:43:17.180 wraps up
00:43:17.820 this edition
00:43:18.840 of the
00:43:19.380 Ezreal event
00:43:20.000 show
00:43:20.360 the big
00:43:20.860 boss man
00:43:21.460 he'll be
00:43:21.900 back here
00:43:22.620 on Monday
00:43:23.420 have a
00:43:24.360 fantastic
00:43:25.020 weekend
00:43:25.440 folks
00:43:25.920 and hey
00:43:26.960 as always
00:43:27.860 stay sane
00:43:29.160 oh Canada
00:43:32.420 we stand
00:43:33.980 on guard
00:43:35.180 for thee
00:43:37.320 oh Canada
00:43:40.980 we stand
00:43:42.520 on guard
00:43:43.960 for thee
00:43:46.120 David
00:43:49.440 Benzies for
00:43:49.960 Rebel News
00:43:50.440 here at
00:43:51.260 Parliament Hill
00:43:52.020 well there is
00:43:52.860 a group of
00:43:53.440 people with
00:43:54.880 loudspeakers
00:43:56.320 it would appear
00:43:56.960 and it
00:43:57.780 seems that
00:43:58.600 bylaw is
00:43:59.360 on the
00:43:59.740 scene
00:44:00.100 to
00:44:01.000 I guess
00:44:02.300 eject them
00:44:02.960 ticket them
00:44:03.580 it's hard
00:44:04.340 to tell
00:44:04.800 what's going
00:44:05.380 on
00:44:05.760 but we're
00:44:06.840 going to
00:44:07.060 be here
00:44:07.600 and see
00:44:08.160 what goes
00:44:08.800 down
00:44:09.200 in the
00:44:09.860 moments
00:44:10.160 ahead
00:44:10.580 sir
00:44:11.080 can you
00:44:12.380 tell me
00:44:12.680 what the
00:44:12.940 issue is
00:44:13.340 here
00:44:13.500 please
00:44:13.820 the issue
00:44:14.300 is that
00:44:14.740 we had
00:44:15.060 a permit
00:44:16.100 on Parliament
00:44:16.540 Hill
00:44:16.780 for speeches
00:44:18.120 DJs
00:44:19.020 live music
00:44:19.540 we got in
00:44:20.660 there and
00:44:21.220 none of our
00:44:21.600 people came
00:44:21.980 in because
00:44:22.400 they're getting
00:44:22.800 strip searched
00:44:23.340 not strip
00:44:24.020 searched
00:44:24.200 but searched
00:44:24.780 their bags
00:44:25.740 are getting
00:44:25.940 gone through
00:44:26.320 their phones
00:44:26.720 are getting
00:44:26.920 checked
00:44:27.220 so nobody
00:44:27.760 wanted to
00:44:28.040 come in
00:44:28.320 rightfully so
00:44:28.900 so we tried
00:44:29.620 to bring our
00:44:29.880 speakers out
00:44:30.220 to the street
00:44:30.660 and OPS
00:44:31.220 shut that
00:44:31.640 down
00:44:31.940 and why is
00:44:33.040 that sir
00:44:33.340 because
00:44:33.540 Wellington
00:44:33.900 Street
00:44:34.240 is closed
00:44:34.740 off
00:44:35.060 it has
00:44:35.440 been since
00:44:35.980 January
00:44:36.480 basically
00:44:37.060 so what's
00:44:37.580 going on
00:44:38.020 that's right
00:44:38.580 well they're
00:44:39.080 saying we don't
00:44:39.440 have a permit
00:44:39.860 which we don't
00:44:41.620 but if we
00:44:42.940 stay mobile
00:44:43.760 we can do
00:44:44.620 our speeches
00:44:45.020 just like we do
00:44:45.560 when we do
00:44:45.820 our marches
00:44:46.260 it's odd
00:44:47.220 because the
00:44:48.520 space from
00:44:49.420 Parliament Hill
00:44:50.000 to the street
00:44:50.620 here on
00:44:50.980 Wellington
00:44:51.260 is just a
00:44:51.880 matter of a
00:44:52.320 few metres
00:44:52.840 isn't it
00:44:53.380 that's correct
00:44:54.220 yeah this is
00:44:54.700 the Canada
00:44:55.060 we live in
00:44:55.540 now so
00:44:56.000 we'll get
00:44:56.360 used to this
00:44:56.940 you almost
00:44:58.180 expect to see
00:44:58.800 football guys
00:44:59.500 with the chains
00:45:00.120 come out
00:45:00.520 and measure
00:45:00.840 the distance
00:45:01.380 but so how
00:45:02.260 is this going
00:45:02.640 to be resolved
00:45:03.340 well that's
00:45:04.760 yet to be seen
00:45:05.320 but we're
00:45:06.640 pretty adaptable
00:45:07.580 so we'll find
00:45:08.600 a way
00:45:08.920 we either do
00:45:09.800 it here
00:45:10.180 keep moving
00:45:10.840 or if PPS
00:45:12.100 wants to work
00:45:12.620 with us
00:45:12.860 and we can
00:45:13.140 get our
00:45:13.360 speakers inside
00:45:14.160 the fence
00:45:14.500 and make
00:45:15.280 our speeches
00:45:15.620 happen
00:45:15.940 and have they
00:45:16.680 given you
00:45:17.100 any threats
00:45:17.600 in terms of
00:45:18.200 fines or
00:45:19.060 anything like
00:45:19.760 that
00:45:20.040 yeah they did
00:45:20.820 threaten to
00:45:21.760 fine us
00:45:22.060 for our
00:45:22.460 speakers
00:45:22.720 and they
00:45:23.240 also threaten
00:45:23.720 to take
00:45:24.220 them if we
00:45:25.120 didn't turn
00:45:25.560 them off
00:45:25.900 so
00:45:26.220 and you
00:45:26.840 just want
00:45:27.180 to play
00:45:27.420 music on
00:45:27.960 your speakers
00:45:28.460 right
00:45:28.780 music and
00:45:29.480 speeches
00:45:29.720 that's correct
00:45:30.260 yeah
00:45:30.640 on Canada's
00:45:31.360 birthday
00:45:31.620 does it feel
00:45:32.120 like Canada
00:45:32.620 these days
00:45:33.100 to you
00:45:33.860 uh
00:45:34.180 North
00:45:34.440 Kranida
00:45:34.840 yes
00:45:35.180 officer
00:45:35.920 can you
00:45:36.260 tell me
00:45:36.540 what's
00:45:36.800 happening
00:45:37.080 here
00:45:37.320 please
00:45:37.600 sir officer
00:45:41.960 can you
00:45:42.280 tell me
00:45:42.540 what's
00:45:42.780 happening
00:45:43.080 here
00:45:43.340 what
00:45:43.540 the
00:45:43.820 officer
00:45:52.340 could you
00:45:52.780 kindly
00:45:53.040 tell me
00:45:53.440 what's
00:45:53.700 happening
00:45:53.980 here
00:45:54.180 today
00:45:54.520 they're
00:46:04.660 telling us
00:46:05.120 what to
00:46:05.480 do
00:46:05.700 where to
00:46:06.060 go
00:46:06.320 where to
00:46:07.060 stand
00:46:07.400 what we
00:46:08.060 can say
00:46:08.600 it's horrible
00:46:09.540 man
00:46:09.900 I thought
00:46:10.720 protesting
00:46:11.300 was allowed
00:46:11.860 in Canada
00:46:12.360 we want
00:46:13.100 peace
00:46:13.600 right
00:46:13.980 so we're
00:46:14.660 willing
00:46:14.920 we're going
00:46:15.560 to work
00:46:15.860 with them
00:46:16.240 and there
00:46:17.220 is a permit
00:46:17.780 for this
00:46:18.300 we're going
00:46:19.020 in
00:46:19.300 I told them
00:46:20.260 a permit
00:46:20.760 a permit
00:46:21.080 for what
00:46:21.500 sir
00:46:21.700 for the
00:46:22.200 for the music
00:46:22.840 but we can't
00:46:23.640 get through
00:46:24.000 they're checking
00:46:24.500 everybody with
00:46:25.220 metal detectors
00:46:25.960 huge lineups
00:46:27.380 we can't
00:46:27.960 get in
00:46:28.480 right
00:46:28.840 so I said
00:46:29.880 to her
00:46:30.060 let us
00:46:30.600 in
00:46:31.000 so they don't
00:46:31.940 want music
00:46:32.620 on Parliament
00:46:33.200 Hill
00:46:33.460 is that clear
00:46:34.220 exactly
00:46:35.040 not out
00:46:35.880 here
00:46:36.280 why are you
00:46:38.160 touching me
00:46:38.640 no it's
00:46:39.360 okay
00:46:39.620 no it's
00:46:39.980 not okay
00:46:40.380 why did
00:46:40.740 you just
00:46:40.980 touch me
00:46:41.360 why did
00:46:42.120 you just
00:46:42.340 touch me
00:46:42.600 what
00:46:42.800 if I did
00:46:43.520 that to
00:46:43.780 you
00:46:43.880 would I
00:46:45.240 get charged
00:46:45.640 with assault
00:46:46.080 I probably
00:46:46.920 would
00:46:47.220 they're not
00:46:49.340 letting me
00:46:49.640 back in
00:46:50.020 you and I
00:46:52.660 have talked
00:46:53.100 I know
00:46:54.300 this is separate
00:46:55.000 from that
00:46:55.260 he just
00:46:55.600 assaulted me
00:46:56.400 they're holding
00:46:57.480 the line
00:46:57.860 so I can
00:46:58.260 talk with
00:46:58.680 your guy
00:46:59.060 I'm just
00:47:01.120 trying to
00:47:01.340 get back
00:47:01.580 in
00:47:01.720 because I
00:47:01.980 gave a piece
00:47:02.580 of my
00:47:02.840 personal property
00:47:03.720 to someone
00:47:04.100 in there
00:47:04.460 and I'm
00:47:04.880 trying to
00:47:05.000 facilitate
00:47:05.420 this
00:47:05.660 for you
00:47:05.920 let us
00:47:07.300 do your
00:47:07.600 job
00:47:07.840 we're not
00:47:08.500 trying to
00:47:08.840 why don't
00:47:12.200 you guys
00:47:13.160 let us
00:47:13.600 go in
00:47:14.000 there
00:47:14.220 and save
00:47:14.760 the hassle
00:47:15.260 open some
00:47:16.020 more
00:47:16.260 gates
00:47:16.660 so that
00:47:17.380 we can
00:47:18.000 get in
00:47:18.460 faster
00:47:18.940 let us
00:47:19.460 go in
00:47:19.920 let us
00:47:23.540 in
00:47:23.680 open the
00:47:24.840 gates
00:47:25.160 please
00:47:25.540 please
00:47:27.000 man
00:47:27.440 is there
00:47:28.140 actually
00:47:28.560 a
00:47:28.820 please
00:47:30.560 is there
00:47:33.140 actually a
00:47:33.480 reason
00:47:33.700 officer
00:47:34.080 why you
00:47:34.440 touched
00:47:34.680 that
00:47:34.900 man
00:47:35.120 you won't
00:47:37.840 talk to
00:47:38.200 me
00:47:38.360 right
00:47:38.660 okay
00:47:41.720 I'm just
00:47:42.360 trying to
00:47:42.600 get your
00:47:42.840 side of
00:47:43.140 the story
00:47:43.480 out
00:47:43.660 so that's
00:47:44.020 all
00:47:44.180 so here's
00:47:45.180 a familiar
00:47:45.540 face to
00:47:46.320 rebel news
00:47:46.980 viewers
00:47:47.300 as Jim
00:47:47.760 Curry
00:47:48.120 of the
00:47:48.680 bubble
00:47:49.020 bus
00:47:49.280 last time
00:47:49.700 he was
00:47:49.940 in Ottawa
00:47:50.260 I think
00:47:50.580 the bubble
00:47:51.600 bus got
00:47:52.080 towed twice
00:47:52.920 from private
00:47:53.540 property
00:47:54.000 but that's
00:47:55.080 the way they
00:47:55.460 roll here
00:47:55.860 in Ottawa
00:47:56.120 Jim you
00:47:56.720 were there
00:47:57.260 when the
00:47:57.720 police came
00:47:58.480 or the
00:47:58.800 by law
00:47:59.160 enforcement
00:47:59.580 officers
00:48:00.160 on to
00:48:01.140 Parliament
00:48:01.440 Hill
00:48:01.820 and what
00:48:02.940 is going
00:48:03.560 on
00:48:03.780 they can
00:48:04.880 have the
00:48:05.340 speakers
00:48:05.660 on Parliament
00:48:06.340 Hill
00:48:06.600 but they
00:48:06.920 can't have
00:48:07.380 it a few
00:48:07.760 metres
00:48:08.120 over here
00:48:09.520 on Wellington
00:48:10.140 Street
00:48:10.540 why is that
00:48:11.140 they applied
00:48:12.360 for a permit
00:48:13.060 they got the
00:48:13.760 permit for all
00:48:14.420 day then they
00:48:14.980 cancelled the
00:48:15.520 permit
00:48:15.780 and then
00:48:16.600 after they
00:48:17.160 cancelled the
00:48:17.660 permit
00:48:17.900 they let
00:48:18.240 them have
00:48:18.500 it again
00:48:18.760 but only
00:48:19.160 between 5
00:48:19.760 o'clock
00:48:20.020 and 8
00:48:20.280 o'clock
00:48:20.640 and because
00:48:21.360 they're
00:48:21.520 restricting
00:48:21.860 everybody
00:48:22.200 from going
00:48:22.780 through
00:48:23.200 on a very
00:48:23.980 very slow
00:48:24.480 fashion
00:48:25.000 nobody can
00:48:25.960 get up top
00:48:26.640 so when they
00:48:27.360 had the
00:48:27.720 speakers up top
00:48:28.480 they moved
00:48:28.860 them closer
00:48:29.360 and then the
00:48:30.220 parliamentary police
00:48:31.360 had a problem
00:48:31.880 with it
00:48:32.160 they said
00:48:32.500 okay fine
00:48:33.120 we're gonna
00:48:33.400 go out to
00:48:33.660 the street
00:48:33.980 they came
00:48:34.580 out to
00:48:34.800 the street
00:48:35.140 the bylaw
00:48:35.840 shut them
00:48:36.200 down
00:48:36.440 and you
00:48:36.900 heard the
00:48:37.200 story from
00:48:37.620 them
00:48:37.820 well there
00:48:38.220 you have
00:48:38.480 it folks
00:48:38.820 I think
00:48:39.420 there was
00:48:39.800 some kind
00:48:40.340 of compromise
00:48:40.960 reached
00:48:41.640 it looks
00:48:42.320 like
00:48:42.720 the speakers
00:48:43.940 are allowed
00:48:45.060 on the
00:48:45.760 other side
00:48:46.780 of the fence
00:48:47.760 separating
00:48:49.040 Parliament Hill
00:48:50.380 from Wellington
00:48:51.260 Street
00:48:51.700 so in other
00:48:53.480 words all
00:48:53.900 that kerfuffle
00:48:54.620 all that
00:48:55.680 nonsense
00:48:56.220 all that
00:48:57.060 law enforcement
00:48:57.900 theater
00:48:58.380 it all came
00:48:59.760 down to
00:49:00.660 a compromise
00:49:01.800 in which
00:49:02.320 the speakers
00:49:02.940 were moved
00:49:03.520 maybe what
00:49:04.340 10 centimeters
00:49:06.280 well at least
00:49:08.080 they are
00:49:08.720 getting to
00:49:09.400 broadcast
00:49:09.780 on Wellington
00:49:10.580 Street
00:49:11.040 so they
00:49:12.400 won I
00:49:12.920 think
00:49:13.300 protest
00:49:14.740 contrary
00:49:15.680 to popular
00:49:16.840 belief
00:49:17.220 or the
00:49:18.120 popular
00:49:18.440 belief
00:49:18.740 by the
00:49:19.080 Liberal
00:49:19.260 Party
00:49:19.680 of
00:49:19.940 Canada
00:49:20.360 supported
00:49:21.700 by
00:49:22.080 Jagmeet
00:49:22.640 Singh
