00:01:26.780 You'll remember him from feeding the hungry and the homeless on the streets of Calgary in 2020.
00:01:33.360 Remember, Arthur Pavlovsky was given massive tickets for doing that.
00:01:38.220 He was out in the cold. It was actually snowing that day, and Arthur and his church were giving food to hungry people,
00:01:44.300 and the cops came up pushing him around like bullies, and they gave him a ticket for an illegal gathering,
00:01:49.960 as if feeding the hungry was a gathering like a party or something.
00:01:54.960 As you know, that became case number one in our Fight the Fines project that's gone on to representing more than 2,000 people.
00:02:02.600 Well, case number two was almost an identical case involving another Calgary pastor charged with doing the exact same thing,
00:02:11.860 feeding the hungry and the homeless.

00:02:21.480 I really am interested to hear about your story when you were given a ticket by the Calgary police.
00:02:27.220 It's a very similar story to what we've heard from a similar church in Calgary.
00:02:32.340 We spoke with a gentleman named Arthur, and we're kind of curious,
00:02:36.400 does it seem like the Calgary police are specifically following and charging Christian outreach groups in downtown Calgary?
00:02:43.700 Yeah, you know, it definitely appears that way, and even possibly attacking Art and his church as well,
00:02:51.780 because we saw some differences because we were down at the DI,
00:02:54.740 and the same officer who ticketed Art came, but then it didn't bother him what we were doing.
00:03:00.720 He said, you know, as long as a group doesn't get too big and you can preach and you can feed the homeless,
00:03:04.580 that doesn't bother me, and we have that all captured on film and left with that.
00:03:09.340 So we go out there and we feed the homeless, and we preach the gospel, and we pray for the sick.
00:03:13.620 And it wasn't very even busy on the streets because it's very desolate in Calgary.
00:03:20.020 But yeah, there were a bunch of us out there, and cops came, and a couple weeks ago they were warning me,
00:03:25.480 and we were back out there, we just keep doing it.
00:03:27.380 Cops came right at the beginning, and they were watching, and so they hung out for the next hour, hour and a half.

00:03:34.800 Be that as it may, we'll be out there this weekend on the corner of Stephen Avenue and 2nd Street

00:03:40.900 How much food did the Calgary police take out of the mouths of homeless people
00:03:45.100 because they decided they should be ticketing you for doing such a good thing?
00:03:49.100 I'm not going to have the money to spend on outreach supplies.

00:03:54.540 because now it's spent on tickets if it doesn't get thrown out.

00:04:07.280 But Pastor Derek Reimer was in the news again.
00:04:10.760 He heard about the Drag Queen Story Hour in a Calgary public library
00:04:15.580 that was targeting children of tender years.
00:04:18.360 That's my main beef with these Drag Queen events.
00:04:21.280 If some grown-ups want to live that way in a club or even on the streets
00:04:26.740 and be who they feel they are inside, I think I'm libertarian enough to roll with them.
00:04:32.620 But when you are targeting children of a young age,
00:04:37.460 there should be a non-sexual, an asexual time in a child's life.
00:04:43.140 Just let them be kids.

00:05:03.240 So anyways, Pastor Derek Reimer went to this Drag Queen Story Hour,

00:05:18.920 and he interrupted it.

00:05:22.080 He didn't attack anyone,
00:05:23.480 but he spoke against it,
00:05:25.960 and they got physical with him.

00:06:57.440 For those who don't know Jody Gondek,
00:06:59.480 I think all you need to know about her
00:07:01.260 is that the very first thing she did
00:07:04.160 after becoming mayor in Calgary,
00:07:06.240 the oil and gas capital of Canada,
00:07:08.520 although Edmonton would say they are,
00:07:10.320 the very first thing Jody Gondek did,
00:07:12.260 what was the first thing?
00:07:13.220 Would it be the unemployment crisis
00:07:16.020 that has wracked that province
00:07:17.300 really for eight years?
00:07:18.300 Would it be the carbon tax?
00:07:20.440 Would it be rising crime?
00:07:22.340 What would the number one issue be
00:07:24.380 for a mayor of Calgary?
00:07:25.460 Well, she declared a climate crisis.
00:07:29.260 I'm not even kidding.
00:07:30.340 Gives you an idea of how woke she is.
00:07:31.840 Anyway, that is Jody Gondek.
00:07:35.080 And she has gone full authoritarian.
00:07:37.900 Here's a clip of her a few weeks ago

00:07:41.720 when she was calling for a special bylaw
00:07:45.600 targeting her political enemies.
00:07:48.000 Understand that the criminal code
00:07:49.720 applies all across the country.
00:07:51.600 You don't need every city hall or town hall
00:07:53.680 to ban stalking or harassment or assault
00:07:57.220 or uttering a death threat
00:07:58.860 or any real crimes.
00:07:59.920 But Jody Gondek wants to ban things
00:08:02.440 that are not crimes.
00:08:03.720 She wants to ban her political enemies
00:08:05.600 from lying.
00:08:06.980 Of course, lying can quite often
00:08:08.800 be a matter of opinion in politics.
00:08:10.880 Each side thinks the other is lying
00:08:12.480 and it's up to the voter to figure it out.
00:08:14.320 But Jody Gondek says that the people who lie
00:08:16.820 that she doesn't like are very special
00:08:19.000 and that they're motivated by hatred,
00:08:20.960 unlike her motivations,
00:08:22.340 which are purely love.
00:08:24.080 This is to her speech in City Council
00:08:26.800 when she calls for a special censorship bylaw
00:08:29.680 to fine people hundreds of dollars
00:08:32.140 for saying things that are offensive.
00:08:35.200 And of course, everyone can define
00:08:37.360 that word for themselves, right?

00:08:41.400 We had a drag brunch at the rec room
00:08:44.780 in the north of Calgary
00:08:45.960 by our community of drag queens in Calgary

00:08:53.520 and really raising awareness

00:08:56.460 to be a welcoming community.
00:08:58.280 Unfortunately, some members of our population
00:09:01.500 thought it would be a good idea

00:09:03.600 which is, I'm just going to use my opinion,
00:09:06.640 a horrible thing to do.
00:09:08.100 I was very happy that CPS was there
00:09:10.120 to provide a buffer
00:09:11.200 and to ensure that everyone was safe
00:09:13.760 and that the show could go on.

00:09:17.920 when a protest is rooted in hatred
00:09:20.620 to ticket people and shut this down?

00:09:38.460 for our bylaw work.

00:09:49.800 to have happen at protests.

00:09:54.480 the crisp answer that I would like to.
