Summary

A journalist who was attacked by Antifa fights back in court against them. I'll give you the latest. It's August 3rd and this is the Ezra LeVant Show. I don't know why I can't stay still in one place, but I just can't. I'm not in Hungary or Marseille or some exotic place like that, I'm in lovely Portland, Oregon. Let me turn around slowly, slowly, the beautiful Willamette River parks all around. Families out, all around, families out. It really looks like an incredible place to grow up and raise a family. So much of the Pacific Northwest is this way, like Vancouver, but like Vancouver it suffers politically. It has one of the most woke city and state governments in America, it has defunded its police and allowed riots in the streets, and in fact the Democrat political authorities winked and turned a blind eye to a violent street gang called Antifa.

00:00:00.040 Tonight a journalist who was attacked by Antifa fights back in court. He's suing
00:00:05.680 them. I'll give you the latest. It's August 3rd and this is the Ezra LeVant Show.
00:00:24.520 Oh hi there I'm on the road again. I don't know why I just can't stay still
00:00:28.880 in one place but I'm not in Hungary or Marseille or some exotic place like that. I am in lovely
00:00:33.760 Portland, Oregon. Let me turn around slowly. The beautiful Willamette River parks all around.
00:00:40.460 Families out. It's a glorious summer day. It really looks like an incredible place to grow up
00:00:46.940 and raise a family. So much of the Pacific Northwest is this way. It's a little bit like Vancouver
00:00:52.340 but like Vancouver it suffers politically. It has one of the most woke city and state governments
00:01:01.100 in America. It has defunded its police. It has allowed riots in the streets and in fact the
00:01:09.220 Democrat political authorities have winked and turned a blind eye to a violent street gang called
00:01:17.340 Antifa. Now Antifa was the name given to an actual anti-fascist movement in Europe two generations
00:01:25.640 ago. They were generally communist in fact but they claimed to be against fascism. I don't know if they
00:01:32.140 were. I don't know enough about them historically but I do know this. The people who call themselves
00:01:36.740 Antifa today actually are the fascists in so many ways. First of all they embrace violence on the streets
00:01:44.660 like fascists do. Second of all they're a kind of paramilitary associated with political parties.
00:01:51.780 They sort of carry out the will of political parties to enforce them through terror and sometimes direct
00:01:57.640 action. That's a little bit like the brown shirts in the Nazi party some 90 years ago. And interestingly
00:02:05.380 these Antifa thugs operate with police generally not interfering. The police are being defunded.
00:02:14.320 They're on the back foot in cities like this. They have enough of their hands full to deal with
00:02:18.640 quote regular crime. And it seems like they've been instructed not to touch Antifa. As I arrived in
00:02:25.560 Portland today this is the first time I've ever been in this beautiful city. I was stunned by how on so
00:02:31.200 many street corners and underpasses and even in parks not this glorious park but ones right nearby
00:02:37.520 there are hundreds probably thousands maybe tens of thousands of homeless people in tents in shanty
00:02:46.720 towns semi-permanent shanties built literally under underpasses. It's heartbreaking and sad such a
00:02:54.160 beautiful city such a wealthy city and yet that drug use and and small low-level crime is just accepted
00:03:03.440 as normal here. It's the same in San Francisco, Los Angeles. We see that happening in Vancouver and
00:03:08.880 Toronto now too. It really is heartbreaking for such a beautiful place. But while police have their hands
00:03:15.360 full with that it's Antifa that engages in violent crimes. I want to show you some images of what Antifa did
00:03:23.440 to an independent reporter called Andy Ngo spelled N-G-O. Andy Ngo who tried to document what they were
00:03:31.440 doing. Andy and his family hail from Vietnam. They're immigrants you could say they're refugees. They came
00:03:38.960 here for the American way. Andy himself is progressive by many measures but he didn't like the violence done
00:03:46.240 in the name of the left by Antifa and so he would document it in an undercover type way. He would go out to
00:03:52.640 their riots and film them but of course he had to be very careful because they would turn against him
00:03:58.240 so sometimes he himself dressed like the black block. That's a phrase that doesn't refer to a team so
00:04:05.920 much as a way of dressing where you completely cover your entire body in unremarkable black garments so
00:04:13.040 that no one can describe you. No one can differentiate you. You're not showing your face. You're not
00:04:19.280 showing a logo on your clothing. You have nothing that can be identifiable. Of course they wear face
00:04:26.960 coverings. They love the COVID-19 masks. Sometimes they even wear goggles to make themselves not only
00:04:32.800 completely non-identifiable but also to give themselves the the fake courage that bullies get
00:04:39.920 when they don't have to take any responsibility for their actions and they would hunt in packs and of
00:04:45.760 course often when there's a mob like that they get courage from each other. You see it in mobs that
00:04:53.040 engage in looting. What happens with Antifa mobs when they engage in beatings also and that's what
00:04:59.440 happened to our friend Andy Ngo. He went to cover an Antifa riot and they had already fought with him
00:05:06.240 once before. They had already attacked him once before and they detected him somehow even though he was in
00:05:12.480 black lock maybe it's because he was hanging around and taking pictures of them instead of just of
00:05:17.920 the cops and they identified him and a group of four of them walked up to him and said who are you
00:05:25.520 what are you doing and they started to follow him and then as Andy Ngo testified in court today
00:05:32.240 they ripped off his face covering and his goggles and identified him and then chased him through the
00:05:38.080 streets of Portland but not in some back alley not in some far off industrial area right in a
00:05:45.680 beautiful part of downtown Portland with luxury hotels nearby they chased him through the streets
00:05:51.360 Andy testified how he ran into the streets and tried to bang on cars saying help me call the police
00:05:56.400 and no one would he ran into up to hotels and their doors were locked and they wouldn't let him in he
00:06:01.600 finally went to one hotel got in begged them to call 9-1-1 for him they wouldn't they wanted to kick him
00:06:07.920 out and that's interesting because on the one hand i can sympathize with the hotels keeping him out here
00:06:13.360 here's a guy other than his face he's dressed all in black like Antifa and he's saying wildly call 9-1-1
00:06:20.080 call the police and i think people in Portland have been numbed to crime and they've been taught don't
00:06:26.160 get involved only bad things can happen if you get involved just walk away don't try and stop the
00:06:31.120 crime just don't let it get involved with you so one hotel locked him out another hotel tried to
00:06:37.360 kick him out and wouldn't call 9-1-1 what's terrifying is that the Antifa came into the hotel shouting at
00:06:45.200 Andy demonizing him well they they were the demons threatening to to do such atrocious harm to him
00:06:53.200 they had actually pummeled him on the streets he basically crawled into the hotel get off my property
00:06:59.520 right holocaust tonight i can't wait for you to come out andy you thought the milkshakes were bad
00:07:06.720 last time we're gonna beat the fuck out of you bitch y'all andy knows here at the nines hotel
00:07:13.040 andy knows inside the hotel called the cops on everyone saying he's gonna get killed out here
00:07:17.760 andy you see my face andy andy you see my face you see my face
00:07:31.280 the 13-person jury was enraptured
00:08:01.280 as he was listening to this and and i found some hope there i looked at this jury carefully
00:08:05.920 because portland is a very lefty hippie kind of place but i i thought in this jury were probably
00:08:12.880 the most reasonable looking people you could hope to assemble in this kind of a city i i suppose that
00:08:19.680 means there weren't any they them folks with pink and green hair although you should never judge a book
00:08:25.920 by its cover portland has an asian minority and there were at least three asian minorities on
00:08:33.920 the jury which i thought was hopeful because there was a there was a there's an aura of anti-asian
00:08:41.120 bigotry to the way they went after andy and i'm hopeful that that jury will at least be sensitive to it
00:08:46.480 uh i listened to this testimony by andy know all day and i found it absolutely persuasive and he's a
00:08:53.680 very um authentic person and this testimony was heartbreaking but what was so incredible and so
00:09:00.320 effective i thought is that after andy would testify what happened to him uh when he was beaten
00:09:06.480 and testify what happened to him when he was chased testified what would happen to him when he went into
00:09:11.680 uh the hotel after every time he said that and we had to take him at his word there was closed circuit
00:09:19.280 tv footage of that very incident and in some cases obviously there's no audio when the closed circuit tv
00:09:27.680 is showing uh what happened it's just showing four men ten men beating up one person and that's the
00:09:34.880 thing about antifa they really are marginal terrible people i i don't want to use the word the dregs of
00:09:42.960 society because i think we have to believe that there's a spark of god in every person no matter
00:09:47.600 how low no matter how evil everyone has some chance of vindication and coming back to the path a chance of
00:09:54.160 redemption rather these are the worst people in the city these frankly many of them are damaged goods
00:10:00.640 themselves but they have been weaponized by antifa they have been given a militant purpose they've been
00:10:06.640 given an outfit they've been given given cash they've been given direction they've been given a team
00:10:11.520 and leadership the worst people in the world and imagine 10 of them swarming a physically small
00:10:20.240 independent journalist just because he dared to criticize them and they beat him within an inch
00:10:24.880 of his life and to hear him testify to that you think is that really how it went and then you see it
00:10:30.320 on closed circuit tv you see 10 thugs dressed in black beating the daylights out of a journalist
00:10:38.960 just because he dared to criticize them and many of those black block attired antifa to this day have
00:10:46.240 never been identified but a few of the stupider ones or the more arrogant ones the cockier ones actually
00:10:53.040 took off their helmets and they were visible on the closed circuit tv and they have been named
00:10:59.280 in andy no's lawsuit as well antifa itself is named but a handful of individuals who made the foolish
00:11:07.040 mistake of revealing themselves they really are cowards all of them the black lock is a coward's
00:11:13.360 attire but it does work doesn't it which leads us to the old point of objection to face coverings is
00:11:20.160 face coverings are contrary to our norms in western civilization we want to look people in the eye we want to
00:11:26.000 see the other person and having people maraud through the city with their faces covered in black
00:11:31.520 dress in black head to toe that's not just anti-social that allows horrific crimes to happen as happened to
00:11:38.640 andy no there was another act of hubris on the part of antifa is that they love to boast they boasted
00:11:48.560 on twitter in real time about chasing andy no down they boasted about pummeling him about chasing him
00:11:55.520 into a hotel and they also live streamed themselves these people for them this was the greatest achievement
00:12:01.840 of their life to have a 10-on-one bullying of a young journalist but they caught themselves
00:12:09.600 in their own footage they couldn't help but boast here take a look at some of the incredible imagery
00:12:15.840 shot by these antifa thugs themselves utterly corroborating what andy no said they did
00:12:29.840 andy was sent to the hospital but the antifa thugs didn't stop them they continued to hound him not
00:12:58.480 just at the hospital but his family going to his family his elderly parents house they drove him
00:13:04.160 out of the city he had to seek refuge in safe houses across america and he actually moved to the
00:13:09.440 yana kingdom for uh about a year just to escape the threat from antifa thugs on the ground and that's
00:13:16.080 what's so frustrating the prosecution of antifa and the named antifa thugs is not being done
00:13:22.800 by the prosecutor by the district attorney or by the government in any way there were no police witnesses
00:13:29.440 in court today this was a private civil action launched by andy no because no one else would
00:13:35.840 come to his aid like i say antifa is sort of a protected gang like hitler's brown shirts were in nazi
00:13:42.640 germany in the 30s and so the politicians and the police and the prosecutors and the media
00:13:49.040 are all at the very least at ease with antifa in some cases actually encourage them actually
00:13:57.760 encourage them and certainly protect them if you compare how the january 6 i suppose some of them
00:14:03.680 are rioters but many of them were just meanderers they've been jailed for literally years the proud
00:14:10.080 boys had one scuffle in the streets and they're deemed a terrorist group but antifa really is a terrorist
00:14:16.720 group really has killed people really is uh an unrepentant force for violence and they
00:14:23.840 parade around as if they have the key to the city and it falls to andy no an independent journalist
00:14:29.200 to sue them on his own now he has the help of harmy dylan's uh public interest law firm but still
00:14:36.160 where are the police where are the prosecutors well they're defending antifa that's where where are
00:14:42.480 the american journalist lobby groups the industry associations those that talk about freedom of
00:14:49.040 speech and protecting journalists from being picked on where are those who defend the first amendment i
00:14:53.520 remember um whenever trump would say a mean word about the press calling jim acosta and cnn fake news
00:15:01.120 they would all be up in arms about how this is a devastating threat to the independent press
00:15:04.800 i didn't see a single one of them in court today certainly not intervening for andy no and let alone
00:15:11.920 making a public statement about it where were they i don't think they mean it when they say they're for
00:15:18.000 a free press they only are for a free press that criticizes conservatives when it's a conservative
00:15:23.520 journalist like andy no they at best will turn a blind eye when the antifa is on the prowl it was very
00:15:31.760 interesting to me the security in the court and how the judge had to constantly break because there
00:15:36.720 was a new security threat one of the things that antifa specializes in is what's called doxing
00:15:45.200 doxing is sort of a neologism that means revealing private information about someone as a political
00:15:52.560 punishment like i say they doxed andy no's parents house they doxed many of his friends they drove him out
00:16:00.000 of the city through fear and it was clear to me that listening to the judge today that was one of
00:16:05.600 the fears on her mind the courtroom was full of antifa they weren't wearing masks although a couple
00:16:11.600 of them had covid masks on but they didn't have their courageous black block on today and they were
00:16:18.000 a hideous mess they're exactly how you think they would look i tell you if you want to see some scary
00:16:23.120 pictures look at the pictures of antifa when they are occasionally arrested in their police mugshots
00:16:29.840 they they really are terrifying misfits of society but you put them in in in a uniform that hides
00:16:37.120 their identity and makes them part of a street gang and they suddenly turn strong and courageous anyway
00:16:42.480 there was a lot of them in the court today and the judge repeatedly stopped and sheriffs came in and
00:16:48.240 there were rules and you had to have your phone turned off i suspect that what was happening is that antifa
00:16:54.480 was doxing the jurors was trying to find out the names and identity of the jurors
00:17:03.040 just like the mafia would do how terrifying it would be to be a juror to have your name address
00:17:10.320 family details published online by some anonymous antifa account i think that's what was going on i think
00:17:18.080 that's why the judge announced at the end of court today that there would be no cell phones whatsoever
00:17:22.720 allowed even if they were turned off they all would have to be handed over to sheriffs before going
00:17:27.760 into the courtroom what else could it be other than worries of the jurors being doxed they would that
00:17:34.080 would terrify an ordinary person because this town has lived under that terror for more than a decade
00:17:42.400 this city is used to being terrified and these jurors are quite brave to sit on a panel hearing
00:17:50.240 the case against the terrorists and yeah i'll call antifa terrorists it's exactly what they are
00:17:56.000 i was glad to be here i saw a couple of other independent journalists in the room our alumna
00:18:02.160 katie davis court was there she of course is a colleague of andy knows of post-millennial so she was
00:18:06.960 covering it i saw another writer for the spectator melissa chen there and a few other friends of
00:18:11.840 andy know but like i say i didn't see anyone from any mainstream outlet whatsoever i understand there
00:18:17.120 might have been a photographer there from uh a mainstream publication in oregon but i'm not sure
00:18:22.320 how long that lasted it's a very interesting case and i came down here because i wanted to show my
00:18:27.520 support for andy know but what i found out was the fascinating story that andy know not only
00:18:33.920 he survived basic basically an assassination attempt by antifa but he's shown the courage and
00:18:39.920 the intelligence to take the battle to antifa using you know the laws of civil assault and intentional
00:18:48.160 infliction of mental distress but also that rico statute that racketeer influence uh corrupt organization
00:18:55.520 statute used to get at gangs like the mafia and i think that if that works it'll be brilliant now the judge
00:19:03.920 is a democrat appointee and the judge in so many cases today upheld objections by the antifa lawyers
00:19:11.520 to keep out key evidence from andy know look i'm not a judge i don't know american law that well at all
00:19:18.320 so i'm not going to say the judge was wrong but i couldn't help notice how often she upheld major
00:19:24.560 objections to or objections by the defense to major points in the plaintiff's case and i feel like it's
00:19:31.600 tilting the playing field a bit but that said watching the jurors as they saw the closed circuit tv
00:19:40.000 of 10 men attacking and you know watching the jurors as they watch the shrieking demonic sounds of these
00:19:48.880 antifa smash themselves outside the window of the hotel in which andy finally took refuge i've got to
00:19:56.480 say that that would make an impression on anyone even a democrat and no matter what the judge manages
00:20:02.000 to exclude now i've just heard the case for the plaintiffs today tomorrow the prosecutor sorry the
00:20:08.320 the defense will cross-examine andy know and try and poke holes in his argument we'll see how it ends
00:20:15.520 that jury holds in its hands a lot of things not just validation and compensation for andy know but they
00:20:24.880 would be the first jury i'm aware of to condemn and and punish antifa i've never heard of a case like
00:20:32.720 this before a lot is turning on this battle in this beautiful city and even though i won't be here
00:20:39.520 tomorrow i must return back to canada my obligations there we'll be following it as best we can
00:20:46.320 for all of us at rebel news to you at home good night keep fighting for freedom
00:20:52.640 and don't ever let your city fall to a street gang like antifa
