Hello, my friends. On Friday, I told you about C-11. That's the censorship law that was passed,
00:00:06.680
rammed through the Senate. I said I was going to do something about it. In today's show,
00:00:10.620
I'll outline the four things I'm going to do. And I'd like to invite you to help me do these
00:00:15.040
four things. It's all about the website StopC11.com. So please watch the show. And if you're listening
00:00:22.260
to it as a podcast, consider getting the video version of this podcast. Go to rebelnewsplus.com.
00:00:28.980
rebelnewsplus.com. It's eight bucks a month to get what we call Rebel News Plus,
00:00:32.560
the video version. I do the show every weeknight, as you know. And the money helps pay our bills
00:00:38.320
because we do not take money from Trudeau and it shows. All right, here's today's podcast.
00:00:49.760
Tonight, our plan to stop Trudeau's C-11 censorship law. It's May 1st, and this is
00:01:20.460
For more than a year, we've been ringing the alarm about Trudeau's censorship plans.
00:01:25.740
Well, they're here now. His bill to nationalize control of the internet,
00:01:29.080
to make it subject to his legal control, was rammed through the Senate last week.
00:01:35.160
I'll tell you more in a moment, but my purpose today isn't so much to report the news
00:01:38.920
as to tell you what we're going to do about it in the hopes that you'll join us.
00:01:44.100
We've set up a website at stopc11.com where we've laid out the plan and where you can go
00:01:50.620
to help. I'll get back to that website in a moment, but first, some quick background.
00:01:55.360
Trudeau has proposed four different censorship laws, each one more punitive than the one before.
00:02:02.620
The first one, Bill C-11, is the most important one because it declares that websites are legally
00:02:08.200
now the same as old-fashioned TV and radio stations, and so Trudeau's CRTC regulator can tell them
00:02:15.580
what to do. It says companies like Facebook and YouTube and Twitter and Rumble are now broadcasters
00:02:21.560
like radio stations, and they can be regulated by Trudeau. Take a look here at the things Trudeau
00:02:28.800
plans to do to these internet broadcasters. Here's the list of conditions. That's actually
00:02:34.440
what it's called in the law, conditions that Trudeau says internet companies have to obey
00:02:39.740
to be allowed in Canada. Section 9.11a, for example, says Trudeau can determine the proportion
00:02:48.040
of programs to be broadcast that shall be Canadian programs and the proportion of time
00:02:54.160
that shall be devoted to the broadcasting of Canadian programs. So the number of programs
00:02:59.220
of the amount of time. That's very detailed programming by Trudeau. This applies to music,
00:03:05.460
to TV shows, to movies, and it applies to news content like Rebel News too. Just look through
00:03:12.560
these conditions here, the amount of French language content, the amount of diversity content. And I'm
00:03:18.340
sure Elon Musk will love this one. They have to disclose financial or commercial information to
00:03:23.360
Trudeau. Now, to me, the scariest part of these conditions is 9.11e, which forces the internet
00:03:31.220
companies to promote the content that Trudeau's regulator tells them to promote. They call that
00:03:37.480
discoverability. For example, when YouTube or Facebook suggests a video for you,
00:03:41.940
your for you page, that's based on their algorithm. It's actually based on your own
00:03:47.400
viewing habits. No more. This section in the law says Trudeau can regulate, quote,
00:03:53.940
the presentation of programs and programming services for selection by the public.
00:04:00.280
So now Trudeau can tell Facebook, YouTube, Twitter, Rumble, Netflix, Spotify, whoever,
00:04:05.820
which videos to promote and which videos not to promote, which ones to boost and which ones
00:04:11.420
to hide. Gee, I wonder what he's going to do with news sources that he doesn't like.
00:04:17.880
Organizations, organizations like yours, yours, that continue to spread misinformation and
00:04:25.480
disinformation. I won't call it a media organization. Your group of individuals need to take accountability,
00:04:33.660
polarization that we're seeing in this country. It's disappointing to see the Conservatives
00:04:39.120
engage in peddling, engage in peddling, rebel media, rebel media, conspiracy theories.
00:04:44.840
Yeah, he hates Rebel News. He just can't stop obsessing over us.
00:04:48.500
Bonjour, M. Trudeau, Alexandre pour Rebel News. Donc, M. Trudeau, je vais revenir rapidement
00:04:53.720
00:06:07.240
Can you imagine putting Trudeau in charge of what you can see or hear on the internet
00:06:12.120
and letting him command the internet companies in the way I've just listed in the law?
00:06:18.340
That is the law now. And like I say, he has three more laws lined up right after this one,
00:06:24.540
including a law that would allow the Trudeau government to literally ban a website
00:06:29.100
and doesn't like to ban it. They seem really excited about that.
00:06:32.900
Envision having blocking orders. I mean, that's that maybe it's not, you know, it's a it would be
00:06:43.280
it would likely be a last result, last result, nuclear bomb in a toolbox of mechanism for regulators.
00:06:55.540
Three more censorship laws to come, including one that has fines of tens of thousands of dollars.
00:07:00.580
If you publish something offensive online, even if you were just a kid when you did it,
00:07:05.300
it's actually in the law. But all of those laws depend on the one that was just passed last week, C-11.
00:07:12.080
Because none of this works if Trudeau doesn't give himself the jurisdiction, the power
00:07:16.520
to regulate what you see, hear or say on the internet. That's what's new.
00:07:21.180
And he just did that in C-11. So what are you going to do about it?
00:07:26.620
I mean, you can talk about it. You can tell people about it. You can learn more about it yourself.
00:07:31.560
And that's good. But it is passive. I think that's being a bit of a spectator in life,
00:07:37.280
which is what most journalists are, by the way. We're reporters. We're voyeurs even.
00:07:42.920
We're not doers. We report on other people who do things.
00:07:46.060
That's one of my favorite things about Rebel News. Every once in a while,
00:07:50.340
we get involved to do things, not just to talk about things. And sometimes
00:07:55.020
we can really make a difference. We crowdfunded lawyers to defend more than 2,500 people
00:08:01.260
during the lockdowns. And we challenged the worst of the lockdown laws and mandates in court.
00:08:07.840
We're still defending close to 100 truckers, by the way.
00:08:10.620
More directly relevant, we went to court to fight against Trudeau's censorship before,
00:08:17.640
and we beat him twice in a row in 2019 and then 2021. Those two federal elections,
00:08:24.920
Trudeau banned Rebel News and other independent media from attending the election debates.
00:08:30.200
It was a real David versus Goliath fight twice, and we won both times. So it's hard. It's an uphill
00:08:36.260
battle, but it is possible to beat him. And as Wayne Gretzky always said, you miss 100% of the shots
00:08:43.420
you don't take. Well, let's take a shot. In fact, I've got four shots I think we can take. Let me tell
00:08:49.700
you the four things I think could make a real difference. And I'd like to invite you to join
00:08:54.760
with us. Here's the four things. Number one, visit StopC11.com. It's a special website we've set up
00:09:02.760
with all of our reporting on C-11. You can see videos where we go through the law line by line.
00:09:08.780
You can see our reporting on how the law was rammed through. You can see what critics are saying that
00:09:14.000
this law will do to internet freedom. It's basically our one-stop shop for people to learn about the law.
00:09:19.820
That's StopC11.com. Check it out. Number two, sign the petition. At StopC11.com, you'll see on the
00:09:28.200
right-hand side of the page, a petition to the heritage minister to repeal the law. Now, obviously,
00:09:34.500
the current heritage minister isn't going to listen to us. He's a Trudeau puppet. He does whatever his
00:09:39.840
master says. In fact, sometimes I wonder if he's even read the law. Listen to him lie with a straight
00:09:44.700
face about that discoverability algorithm. It's understood that it's not about creators,
00:09:51.620
online creators, because it is not. Think about it. People are saying, oh my God,
00:09:56.340
they're going to be watching us and passing a judgment on my content. It's millions of videos
00:10:02.520
every day that are uploaded. Actually, who could check that? First, we're not interested. But even
00:10:06.880
if we were, who could do that? It's impossible. But you might be creating through these new
00:10:11.420
regulations a different way of sort of a different algorithm, basically. No, we're not touching
00:10:17.480
algorithm. I mean, I literally just showed you section 9.11, where the law specifically requires
00:10:24.480
YouTube and Facebook and the rest of them to promote or demote whatever the government tells
00:10:29.020
them to. It's in black and white. Has he even read the bill? So he won't listen to the petition,
00:10:34.700
obviously, but maybe the next heritage minister will, especially if the conservatives win the next
00:10:39.360
election. But the point is, we can get, I think we can get 100,000 or more signatures. And if we can do
00:10:45.860
that, we can show the entire country that real Canadians do not support the idea of Trudeau
00:10:52.460
controlling the internet. So please sign the petition. And that will also let us keep in
00:10:57.180
touch with you about news from our battle. Number three, go to the public hearings and speak out.
00:11:04.860
Look, Trudeau and his puppet Pablo Rodriguez probably won't listen to you. I mean, they didn't
00:11:09.240
even listen to members of their own party who called for amendments to this bill, who worried about this
00:11:14.280
bill. They laughed in the face of any amendments. But we have to show the world that only Trudeau
00:11:20.220
shills and Trudeau cronies support this. I showed you on Friday that the government has announced
00:11:27.340
that they're going to have public hearings across the country. That's sort of weird to pass the law
00:11:31.940
and then have hearings about it. Like I say, they will most likely ignore everything they hear there,
00:11:36.940
but the rest of the world won't ignore them. My goal is that every Canadian who rejects Trudeau
00:11:43.660
controlling the internet shows up to speak at these hearings. By the thousand. I don't just want
00:11:51.980
Liberal Party hacks there going to salute their corrupt leader. I want normal people there to show
00:11:57.060
up and to speak truth to power and to let the government know and to let the rest of Canada know
00:12:01.240
that we don't accept China-style censorship. We don't let our politicians control the internet.
00:12:06.200
So when the list of public hearings is made public, when it's published on the government website,
00:12:12.420
we will let you know where and we will invite you to attend in your area. We'll even put together
00:12:17.860
helpful fact sheets about C-11 to help you speak with confidence and knowledge at these consultations.
00:12:24.540
I know in my bones that the only people who actually support C-11 are insiders, either Liberal
00:12:30.560
Party insiders or people that Trudeau shovels money to. No normal people would support this sort of
00:12:37.060
censorship. Who would let Justin Trudeau choose what you watch and hear and read? We have to prove
00:12:43.840
that normal people don't support this. In massive numbers, we have to prove it. So when those public
00:12:48.320
hearings are scheduled, we will post them on stopc11.com along with helpful fact sheets to assist you
00:12:53.560
in your remarks. Number four, this is the big one, constitutional litigation. You know, it's the
00:13:03.360
most expensive of the four steps. Step one is the website. Step two is the petition. Step three are the
00:13:09.380
public hearings. But in a way, all of those are still just talk, right? Step four is about going to a
00:13:16.220
court and asking a judge to block this law on the basis of our Charter of Rights and Freedoms. In short,
00:13:22.400
this law will infringe on our fundamental freedoms. If our charter means anything, it must stop Trudeau
00:13:29.760
from commandeering the internet. The constitutional challenge has to be done right by experienced
00:13:37.780
lawyers who are used to high-stakes litigation, who have done constitutional challenges, who are used to
00:13:43.640
fighting long odds. The lawsuit has to be smart because Trudeau will throw everything he has at
00:13:49.560
defending it. When we challenged Trudeau in 2021 in the federal court, we had one lawyer.
00:13:56.920
Trudeau threw seven lawyers at us. He'll do anything to win. So we have to be good, which is why we need
00:14:04.500
to move first. I don't want someone else out there to challenge the law with a weak lawyer or a weak
00:14:09.400
argument. I don't want a wobbly case to be the test case to set a bad precedent. I want the best foot
00:14:16.680
forward with the best plaintiffs and the best lawyers and the best arguments. That should be the one
00:14:21.920
that sets the precedent. Obviously, Rebel News is going to be a plaintiff. I've heard other journalists
00:14:26.440
call C-11 the kill rebel law. It's so obvious. But other independent journalists and content creators
00:14:33.520
should be part of the lawsuit too. So it's not just us. In fact, the more plaintiffs, the better if they have
00:14:39.780
a genuine interest in this case. And if you have a genuine interest as a potential plaintiff,
00:14:46.100
send me an email to ezra at rebelnews.com if you think you're in a position to join the lawsuit
00:14:52.460
if you have standing in the matter. I'm not talking about a class action. I'm talking about journalists
00:14:58.020
or other content creators who are at risk from this censorship law. And finally, there's no other
00:15:04.620
way to say it. We're going to need up to $500,000 to fight this battle. And it's probably going to
00:15:11.780
take us years. Sorry, that's just the facts. I know this from years of litigation on these other
00:15:18.360
matters, including the lockdown law. So we need good lawyers who know their stuff, who will fight like
00:15:24.620
lions, who are ready for the government's likely responses, who can match the government's experts
00:15:30.420
with our experts, who can go toe-to-toe with the Justice Department and their hired guns from the
00:15:36.200
private sector. It's a hard thing to do, but we've done it before. We've done it before, and we've won.
00:15:44.240
Look, I think we have to do this now. If we don't do this, who will? Who will launch a serious lawsuit
00:15:49.780
with serious lawyers with disdain power to fight this as long as it takes, even if it takes years?
00:15:55.660
I think it has to be us. Who else is going to do it? The CBC? The Canadian Association of Journalists
00:16:03.500
whose members only care about getting more government subsidies from Trudeau? They're on
00:16:07.760
his side. It has to be us. And by us, I mean you too. Will you please join with me in our four-point
00:16:18.380
plan to stop C-11? Justin Trudeau is obsessed with controlling what Canadians can read
00:16:25.240
or C. He already owns the CBC, the state broadcaster, and he controls the rest of Canada's TV and radio
00:16:32.220
stations through the government regulator called the CRTC. And recently, he has plowed hundreds of
00:16:37.120
millions of dollars into newspapers to shape their narrative too. The internet is the last free place,
00:16:45.100
which is why he seeks to rule over it. But the internet is supposed to be free.
00:16:50.240
Join me in our four-point plan. Go to StopC11.com. Sign the petition. Go to a public hearing in your
00:16:59.100
area to speak truth to power and help us challenge this law in court by chipping in to help cover our
00:17:05.020
legal fees or even by joining us as a plaintiff in the lawsuit. Trudeau thinks this is over.
00:17:11.220
You saw Pablo Rodriguez. He's practically giddy. The fight to stop C-11 is bigger than all other fights
00:17:19.800
because if we lose the ability to speak freely on the internet, if we lose control of the internet to
00:17:26.240
Trudeau, well, good luck in ever fighting anything again. Go to StopC11.com and together, let's fight for freedom.
00:17:41.220
Welcome back. Well, it is May the 1st. That's not an important day to some people, but to socialists
00:17:54.100
and communists, May Day is a day of action and rage. And there's a long tradition in France of street
00:18:01.540
protests that turn downright violent, bloody, smoky, and tear gassy. I should point out that despite all
00:18:09.280
that, France does not invoke the emergencies act like timid Trudeau did with some honking of horns
00:18:16.880
from some truckers. There's very large protests going on in France, and it would be inaccurate to
00:18:24.960
say that they're merely left-wing protests. In fact, there has been a general discontent among the
00:18:31.140
populace towards Emmanuel Macron and his globalist policies. You might recall the yellow vest,
00:18:38.700
the gilets jaunes movement, was actually a protest started by truckers and drivers against a carbon
00:18:47.400
tax and the bizarre rule that they had to have a yellow vest in their glove box. Indeed, these days,
00:18:54.040
France is positively roiling by protests, left, right, and center. So we went to try and find out
00:19:01.020
a little bit more about it. As you know, we have two rebels based in the UK. So it's a quick jaunt for
00:19:07.500
them from London to Paris. And joining me now from the streets of Paris is our friend Callum Smiles,
00:19:15.020
who is battling teary eyes from tear gas. Callum, looks like you're having a bit of trouble
00:19:21.200
talking. Tell me what you've seen and done today.
00:19:25.600
Well, as we've seen, I'm not seeing very much right now. My eyes and lungs are full of tear gas.
00:19:33.200
But Paris is full of protests. I've spoken to some people. They say they think this is actually
00:19:39.560
the biggest protest they've ever actually seen. I saw rumors on Twitter about over a million. I can't
00:19:46.420
confirm that. But, you know, a few people were talking about it. This piece of marble here landed
00:19:53.380
just at my feet. And about five, 10 minutes ago, well, I've spoken to some people today who've lost
00:20:02.220
eyes previously at previous protests. And about five, 10 minutes ago, a tear gas canister went about
00:20:09.820
half a foot over my head. So I was nearly one of them. It's certainly been interesting.
00:20:17.900
Well, spin around a little bit so we can see, pan around so we can see behind you.
00:20:23.800
Tell us where you are and what we're looking at there.
00:20:28.260
So there's a really large roundabout at the end of Boulevard Voltaire, literally all the
00:20:37.380
way over there on the roundabout is full of protesters. And then I'll show you over here.
00:20:45.240
And then behind is the majority of the police. And they have this kind of cat and mouse game
00:20:51.040
where the protesters will be throwing things, i.e. that piece of marble I just showed you.
00:20:58.220
And then the police will rush in with tear gas. They've used a water cannon. They're going with
00:21:05.400
batons. And like I said, the best way to describe it is a game of cat and mouse.
00:21:10.300
Now, I started off by saying May Day is traditionally a day for leftists. Is this a left-wing protest?
00:21:17.560
Is it an everybody protest? Is it a people versus the powerful protest? What exactly are they talking
00:21:24.540
about? Why are they motivated to protest? It is typically or usually a very left-wing protest.
00:21:31.960
There is a large left-wing presence here. But this is an issue that's almost united all of France.
00:21:39.360
It seems to be the people against Macron and his police. We've seen a large number of
00:21:46.660
firemen. Oh, I don't know if you can see over my shoulder there. There's a fire in the park.
00:21:53.760
But this is almost a unified, in the strangest of ways, a unifying moment here in France.
00:22:02.500
Okay. But what is the substance of the protest? So the protest, you say, is beyond just the
00:22:10.060
traditional left-wing. But what are the issues? If you ask people, why are you here? What would
00:22:18.880
The problem everyone has here is the lack of democracy. They are saying that Emmanuel Macron
00:22:26.040
has undemocratically raised the state pension age without the consensus of the people.
00:22:35.020
Are there other issues besides raising the age of retirement in an undemocratic fashion?
00:22:43.680
Well, there's been a general bubbling throughout Europe, especially in the UK,
00:22:48.780
against this idea of this cost-of-living crisis, which many people are saying is artificially
00:22:55.860
inflated, that it's actually not being caused by anything that should cause inflation. However,
00:23:02.840
many people are saying this is actually the government artificially inflating things to
00:23:09.300
make the people poorer and to get rid of the middle class.
00:23:14.760
Well, listen, I'm glad you're over there. Stay safe. Looks like you got a good helmet on. I saw you
00:23:18.740
earlier with a gas mask on, which I suppose you need from that tear gas. It looks like it really
00:23:23.340
stings and it must hurt the lungs too. Well, listen, good luck out there. Stay safe and do your best to
00:23:29.740
find out. Oh, looks like we got things in the middle of the action.
00:23:34.060
So, this is that game of cat and mouse I was telling you about. So, the police now rush out, they throw the tear gas canisters, which I'm not looking forward to coming back again.
00:23:48.040
And then, they will almost, sometimes, they detain the people who they think are causing the trouble.
00:23:54.140
They rush out in, almost like the Roman tortoise defensive formation, you know, with the shields above and in front.
00:24:02.840
Grab those they think causing problems, take them away, detain them. And so, the game continues.
00:24:09.300
Huh. Well, thank you for it. That's very exciting. I'll let you go put your goggles back on. That looks like a very thick tear gas.
00:24:18.820
I'd love to see, in the hours and days ahead, I'm not sure how long you're going to be there for.
00:24:23.520
I'd love to see Parisians and other French explain what it is about their country that has gone so wrong and to whom they ascribe it.
00:24:34.000
Macron is the consummate globalist. He's, like Trudeau and Jacinda Ardern, there's no bad idea that he doesn't get behind.
00:24:43.040
I'd like to hear it, not just criticisms from the left, but from the right and the center, why are these the largest protests?
00:24:49.940
And I'd also like to hear from Frenchmen, why do they think this is not getting wide coverage overseas?
00:24:56.360
I mean, these are enormous protests. You mentioned a million people or more.
00:25:01.540
I wonder why. And is it that? Is it because Macron is a favorite of the globalist set?
00:25:07.440
Callum, stay safe out there. I look forward to all your reports at France on the edge dot com.
00:25:13.360
That's a page where we'll put it all. Stay safe, my friend.
00:25:19.520
Callum smiles from our U.K. office in the streets of Paris.
00:25:42.200
T.J.C. 71 says Tamera Leach should be nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize for her fight against human rights abuse.
00:25:50.320
I actually think if I recall, I think she might have been.
00:25:53.420
I think she should definitely get the order of Canada.
00:25:55.960
And I don't know if there's an order of Alberta, but if there is, she should get it.
00:25:59.740
If she was a woman of the left, she would have those things already.
00:26:05.920
I mean, maybe it's the name their mama gave them.
00:26:07.620
Beep, beep, boop says seems strange that there are so many politicians that would vote C-11 in in the wake of finding out Trudeau took $400,000 from Chinese Communist Party and all the censorship and lying he has done.
00:26:20.880
Seems like they must all have something to hide.
00:26:25.180
I see the news today that there is a diplomat from China in Canada.
00:26:30.840
And when you when you're a diplomat, you have to show your credentials and be approved.
00:26:34.340
Governments can't just choose what diplomat to send to another country.
00:26:39.460
So there is a diplomat in this country from Communist China whose credentials have been accepted by Canada, who was in charge of smearing and threatening a Canadian MP's family back in Hong Kong.
00:26:55.000
His family back in Hong Kong was punished by Communist Party because of Michael Chong's comments here in Canada.
00:27:02.180
And Trudeau knew about that and kept that a secret.
00:27:05.560
It was only revealed in the Globe and Mail today.
00:27:11.580
Newfie 101 says, Alberta needs to separate from Canada and join the U.S.
00:27:16.220
They have a constitution to protect citizens' rights.
00:27:19.580
You know, I'm not sure if joining the U.S. would be a better answer than being independent.
00:27:25.080
But I tell you one thing, if Alberta were to secede from Canada in some way, either to become independent, to become part of some Western Canadian entity, or, yeah, join the U.S.,
00:27:35.800
I think the dominoes would fall because how long would Saskatchewan stick around?
00:27:40.600
Frankly, I think B.C. would probably take the opportunity to get out, too.
00:27:44.100
And would the rest of Canada want to stay in a confederation where Ontario had the majority of all the votes and the seats?
00:27:52.500
I think it would crack things open, but what would reemerge from it would likely be fairer and more democratic.
00:28:12.660
Until tomorrow, on behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters, to you at home, good night.
