Hello, my friends. This crazy comments by Mike DuM, the new leader of the RCMP, handpicked
00:00:06.440
by Justin Trudeau, just frankly makes Brenda Luckey look non-partisan. Really, really bad
00:00:14.900
stuff. I want to take you through it. I want you to see the video version of what we're doing today.
00:00:21.100
Go to rebelnewsplus.com and click subscribe. It's eight bucks a month.
00:00:24.640
You get the video version every weeknight and Sheila Gunn-Reed does a weekly show.
00:00:31.040
And more important, frankly, the eight bucks a month helps keep Rebel News strong. We don't take
00:00:35.600
any government money. We've been demonetized by YouTube. So we need your eight dollars. It all
00:00:40.320
adds up for us. That's how we pay our bills. That's rebelnewsplus.com. All right, here's today's show.
00:00:54.640
Tonight, the RCMP looks at the crime wave in Canada and thinks,
00:01:04.800
we need to crack down on Trudeau's political critics. It's May 16th and this is the Ezra LeVant Show.
00:01:10.100
You fighting for freedom! Shame on you, you censorious bug!
00:01:24.640
There's a massive crime wave in Canada of all sorts, especially dramatic, violent crime. I mean,
00:01:32.360
in Toronto and other big cities, car robberies aren't just car robberies anymore. They're home
00:01:38.840
invasions to get the key fobs to rob the cars. And you remember that clip about a month or two ago
00:01:46.060
of a Toronto cop saying, leave your keys near the front door so these home invaders get what they
00:01:51.960
want easily. That was his crime fighting advice. Remember that insane clip?
00:01:56.940
To prevent the possibility of being attacked in your home, leave your fobs at your front door.
00:02:02.380
Because they're breaking into your home to steal your car. They don't want anything else.
00:02:06.060
A lot of them that they're arresting have guns on them. And they're not toy guns. They're real guns.
00:02:11.720
And that's just now considered regular, normal background crime. You have shocking crimes like
00:02:17.660
the $20 million gold heist. And just every species of crime is higher. It's almost like
00:02:24.440
riding the subway in Toronto is like riding the subway in New York City now. Very dangerous.
00:02:31.380
It's terrible in big cities. But everywhere, I mean, what even is crime in the mind of the liberals?
00:02:38.540
And I say this because something that we regarded as a low-rung crime that would get you climbing up
00:02:44.700
the ladder of criminality, namely using hard drugs, the government now has normalized and legalized
00:02:52.920
that. In fact, the disgraceful cabinet minister, Yara Sachs, is basically Trudeau's drug pusher trying
00:02:59.420
to get hard drugs out on the streets to the addicts. They want to continue that. So they don't even
00:03:06.260
regard that as crime. Trudeau was very blunt when he ended Stephen Harper's mandatory minimum
00:03:13.860
sentences. And that goes to my point of, I don't think Trudeau thinks crimes are crimes. He's like
00:03:18.980
those George Soros DAs in the United States that don't hold people on bail, don't pursue charges against
00:03:26.520
left-wing criminals. And when I say left-wing criminals, there is a political crime wave too,
00:03:32.740
of course. You recently saw that the Arrive Can app, really an $80,000 app, that the government was
00:03:39.520
billed more than $60 million for. Turns out the schemers behind that actually have fleeced the
00:03:46.920
taxpayers for a billion dollars. There is so much corruption. And you can't put it all around Trudeau,
00:03:55.060
but he certainly sets the moral standard. I saw a news story the other day about 80, 8-0, 80 fake
00:04:03.640
colleges in the city of Brampton. Brampton is like a suburb of Toronto. The idea that there are 80
00:04:12.240
colleges in Brampton is obviously a lie. They're fake. They're diploma mills. You pay them 10 grand or
00:04:20.980
whatever. And they give you a fake diploma. Why would they do that? Who would buy that? Well,
00:04:25.860
foreign students on a student visa pay money to these fake diploma mills to get over to Canada.
00:04:34.160
That's a crime wave that both the provincial and federal governments are clearly party to.
00:04:40.300
And then there's the foreign meddling in Canada. China, including its police stations, which is just
00:04:46.120
so bizarre. Iran fomenting these Hamas protests. And I list these things for you. Because my question
00:04:54.820
is, what's the priority for police, especially for a national police force like the RCMP?
00:05:02.100
What's the top priority? What would you say is the top priority for fighting crime in Canada? I have my
00:05:08.080
opinions. What's yours? Well, let me tell you what the RCMP's priority is. It's a story in Canadian
00:05:14.980
press published by the CBC. Here's the headline. Politicians keep getting more threats. The head
00:05:23.200
of the RCMP says new tools might be needed to protect them. Intelligence report says threats are
00:05:30.540
becoming increasingly normalized. Now stop right there for a second. What kind of threats do you think
00:05:36.140
they mean? Police, intelligence, threats, those are the words they're using. You probably think they mean
00:05:43.880
death threats or threats of violence, right? Police, intelligence, threats. No, no, no, no. Because
00:05:52.140
these aren't real cops you're hearing from now. This is Trudeau's hyper-partisan RCMP. Here's the story.
00:05:58.940
Let me show you how deceptive the headline is. RCMP Commissioner Mike Duem says he wants the
00:06:04.800
government to look at drafting a new law that would make it easier for police to pursue charges against
00:06:11.520
people who threaten elected officials. Okay. Threatening elected public officials. Sounds bad.
00:06:18.580
So far, we're all in agreement. Fortunately, we have several laws, including the following. I'm just
00:06:25.220
going to read to you from the criminal code. Don't click away. I want you to read this because it's
00:06:29.780
important. It's relevant to what comes later. This is in our criminal code right now. Section 264. It's
00:06:36.120
called uttering threats. Did you know this is in our criminal code? I bet you did, even if you didn't
00:06:40.980
know the section. Of course, uttering threats is a crime. Let me read it to you. Everyone who commits
00:06:45.660
an offense who, in any manner, knowingly utters, conveys, or causes any person to receive a threat
00:06:52.560
to cause death or bodily harm to any person, to burn, destroy, or damage real or personal property,
00:06:59.500
or to kill, poison, or injure an animal or bird that is the property of any person. Isn't that
00:07:05.660
interesting? So that's a crime right now, uttering threats. It's a crime, and it's pretty broad. It even
00:07:12.860
covers threats against property and critters. Let me read the next section for you. This is section 51
00:07:18.880
of the criminal code. I'm almost done. Don't click away. Everyone who does an act of violence in order
00:07:25.760
to intimidate parliament, or the legislature of a province is guilty of an indictable offense and
00:07:31.420
liable to imprisonment for a term not exceeding 14 years. So don't take on parliament. They have a
00:07:37.580
special protection. And then here's the law that I think is probably the most applicable.
00:07:43.220
It's the law against harassment, which covers things like stalking. I'll read it to you also. You're
00:07:49.360
getting smart on the criminal code today. Criminal harassment, section 264. No person shall,
00:07:54.800
without lawful authority, and knowing that another person is harassed or recklessly as to whether the
00:08:01.500
other person is harassed, engaged in conduct referred to in subsection 2 that causes that
00:08:08.420
other person reasonably, in all the circumstances, to fear for their safety or the safety of anyone
00:08:15.080
known to them. And here's the list of prohibited conduct. The conduct mentioned in subsection 1
00:08:20.960
consists of repeatedly following from place to place the other person or anyone known to them,
00:08:28.360
repeatedly communicating with, either directly or indirectly, the other person or anyone known to
00:08:33.740
them, besetting or watching the dwelling house or place where the other person or anyone known to them
00:08:40.160
resides, works, carries on business or happens to be, or engaging in threatening conduct directed at the
00:08:47.860
other person or any member of their family. That's the law against harassment. That's pretty big,
00:08:56.020
isn't it? I'd say it's much more expansive than uttering threats or besetting a parliament.
00:09:01.420
Now, I'm going to keep reading this news story, but I wanted to show you those laws that are on the books
00:09:06.600
right now. Let me keep reading, because if you were to read that CBC story, you'd be sort of worried,
00:09:11.880
right? Here, let me read. The Mounties are seeing an increase in invective directed at politicians,
00:09:21.640
including comments from the same individuals on multiple occasions, Duem said in an interview.
00:09:30.800
Comments? Invective? I know what comments are. They're any chatter. Invective is sort of negative
00:09:36.580
comments. But weren't we talking about real threats? Weren't we talking about police stuff?
00:09:41.740
instead of just mean comments? So I thought this was about violence and protecting the lives of
00:09:48.760
MPs. It's just about invective? Let me keep reading. However, often the behavior does not meet
00:09:57.280
the criminal code threshold for laying a charge of uttering threats. Quote, so that's sometimes a
00:10:03.720
challenge, Duem said. But are there other tools that we can use? Is there anything else that we could
00:10:09.520
add to the criminal code that can address the situation? Hang on. So they're not threats?
00:10:17.040
Not under the criminal code. They're not crimes. I read to you three sections, including harassment,
00:10:21.880
which is pretty broad. I mean, there's a lot of power in the laws I just read to you, but Trudeau's
00:10:27.040
hand-picked top cop, he's not interested in that. He wants something more. And weirdly,
00:10:34.460
he's lobbying parliament for that? Is that his job to have non-crimes added to his to-do list?
00:10:46.820
I'll keep reading. Duem said that RCMP hopes to work with Public Safety Canada and the Department
00:10:52.420
of Justice on the possibility of a new provision to address the phenomenon. Quote,
00:10:58.040
it'd be nice to see if we could look at that, he said. Quote, people feel more free to express what
00:11:05.040
they really think, which is a good thing, but it has to be done in a civil way. Every elected official
00:11:12.580
has a right to feel secure in doing their job, unquote. But hang on, is that actually true?
00:11:20.300
Remember what Salman Rushdie said about the butt brigade? Oh, I believe in free speech,
00:11:25.940
but you have to be civil, but politicians can't feel bad. Here's what Salman Rushdie said about
00:11:32.340
people who said, I believe in freedom, but. Take a look. The moment somebody says, yes,
00:11:37.340
I believe in free speech, but I stop listening.
00:11:44.940
You know, I believe in free speech, but people should behave themselves.
00:11:52.900
I believe in free speech, but we shouldn't upset anybody. I believe in free speech, but let's not
00:11:58.620
go too far. The point about it is the moment you limit free speech is not free speech. The point
00:12:06.400
about it is that it's free. So Canada's head of the RCMP, handbaked by Drudeau, is saying free speech,
00:12:13.800
but. But you have to criticize your politicians in a civil way. It has to be done in a nonviolent way.
00:12:21.920
I agree with that. But a civil way, as in, we have to be polite. We have to have the right tone.
00:12:29.280
Is that the new rule that a cop with a gun is going to enforce? Really? Do Trudeau and his MPs,
00:12:38.420
do they have to be civil back to us? Because that's actually what's of a greater concern to me.
00:12:43.180
Or can they baselessly call us racist, sexist, homophobic, Islamophobic, transphobic, or whatever
00:12:52.000
else they say all the time? You're a fringe minority. Do you even have rights? All the things
00:12:57.540
he says. And that's just the words from Trudeau and his cronies. What about when Trudeau actually
00:13:03.680
does outrageous things to us? Like, for example, when he set up his bigoted, unscientific no-fly list
00:13:11.060
for people who weren't jabbed, it just takes away our civil liberties. Or just even raises our taxes
00:13:16.320
in a way that destroys businesses and jobs, the crime waves unchecked, so he can actually do terrible
00:13:22.400
things to us, make housing unaffordable to young people, make the country's quality of life tank.
00:13:28.120
But we have to be civil. Is that what the top cop is saying? Let me keep reading.
00:13:36.660
Do M's comments come amid growing concerns about the safety of politicians? Oh, really?
00:13:44.160
We were talking about mean words and being civil. What's that got to do with safety?
00:13:48.580
I'll read some more. MPs have been followed on the street and subjected to death threats.
00:13:53.540
The escalation has prompted efforts to bolster protection and security measures. Okay. Followed
00:14:00.060
on the street. That could be the stalking thing we read. And death threats. Well, we just read the
00:14:04.980
uttering threats part. So those are covered by the laws that I read in detail a moment ago.
00:14:10.700
Why would we need new laws? Those are already covered in the criminal code.
00:14:16.520
Harassment threats. Were the so-called cases referred to there? First of all, did they actually
00:14:24.160
happen? And second of all, were the people who did them, were they charged with crimes?
00:14:29.980
If not, why not? Is this story just an urban legend told by a cop designed to whip up new
00:14:38.580
censorship laws? Hey, you be civil in the way you disagree with Trudeau. You know, there's a lot of
00:14:43.540
F-U-C-K Trudeau flags out there. I see them everywhere. That's how people feel.
00:14:48.520
You don't think those are going to be now people arrested for them or questioned for them? Let me
00:14:53.560
read a little bit more. Ontario Liberal MP Pam Damoff recently announced she would not run in the
00:15:00.400
next election, saying the threats and misogyny she has experienced made her fearful of going out in
00:15:06.760
public. Okay, well, which is it? A threat or misogyny? Or is it just the fact that everyone
00:15:15.360
hates the liberals, according to polls? A threat sounds like, I'm going to kill you. That's what
00:15:19.940
a threat sounds like. Now, obviously, we don't want that. I don't want that. I support our laws
00:15:24.840
against that. I assume that such a person was charged. Misogyny means people who don't like women.
00:15:33.020
Now, that is very rude, but that's not a crime yet. Duem said the RCMP regularly communicates
00:15:42.660
with other police forces about threats to politicians. Okay, I think that's a good idea.
00:15:47.600
In addition, the Mounties have a liaison team that keeps in touch with federal ministerial offices
00:15:52.000
about daily security needs, and the force works closely with the House of Commons sergeant-at-arms
00:15:56.960
concerning protection of MPs. This is all a good idea. The force will sometimes turn to, quote,
00:16:02.520
disruption measures with officers knocking on the door of someone who has made a concerning comment
00:16:08.700
to have a chat with them, Duem said. Okay, well, concerning comment in what way? If they're making
00:16:15.600
a threat, then absolutely go visit them. But if they're being a political critic, even rude,
00:16:22.160
are the police going door-to-door watching what you say on Facebook or Twitter? RCMP behavioral science
00:16:29.040
specialists. Oh, brother. Also look at incoming cases, and the force has noticed that disturbing
00:16:35.100
comments sometimes come from people known to the force from earlier incidents, he said. Okay, but again,
00:16:40.900
is it a threat? Or is it, what did they just say? Made a concerning comment and a disturbing comment.
00:16:49.680
I'm sure half of what I say here is considered concerning or disturbing to the liberals.
00:16:54.800
So is it a threat? Is it criminal harassment? Because I know what those are because I just read
00:17:01.800
the law to you. I know what those mean. But what's this cop talking about? If we have a cop calling
00:17:08.820
for new laws, it's obvious that he's not talking about the laws we have on the books. What's a disturbing
00:17:14.860
comment? Is he the decider of that? What's a civil comment? Is he the decider of what's civil or
00:17:20.820
uncivil? Could you imagine this handpicked Trudeau cop enforcing that? An intelligence report
00:17:27.200
released in March said threats against politicians had become, quote, increasingly normalized, unquote,
00:17:33.480
due to extremist narratives prompted by personal grievances and fueled by misinformation or deliberate
00:17:40.080
lies. Oh my God, I'm dizzy. What a sentence that is. It's like you jam-packed every woke phrase in there.
00:17:47.780
Is it a threat? Or is it an extremist narrative? What's that? Or is it a personal grievance?
00:17:54.580
Or is it information or a lie? And is any of that criminal? What an incredible sentence that is. I
00:17:59.940
mean, you really go on the whole spectrum there from I will kill you to misinformation. Where was
00:18:06.180
the Wuhan virus from? The cop just wants the right to regulate it all. The cops want to ban it all. Let me
00:18:12.420
read some more. Ensuring that social media platforms are enforcing terms of service that will minimize
00:18:17.640
the sense of violence is important, said Chris Deneuve, assistant director of the Center for the
00:18:23.180
Study of Democratic Institutions at the University of British Columbia. The recently introduced federal
00:18:29.160
online harms bill is one way of helping establish standards around expectations of such platforms for
00:18:36.180
addressing harassment, threats, and hate speech, he said. Okay, now I get it. Now I get it. Now I understand
00:18:41.620
what this is all about. The RCMP is now lobbying for hate speech laws. They're so excited they can taste
00:18:49.400
it. That's what this is all about, isn't it? Almost done. Teneuve added it is important for party leaders
00:18:57.000
and staff to make it clear to supporters that it's inappropriate and undemocratic for them to threaten
00:19:04.260
or harass opposing political parties online. Got it. So a government-funded professor, oh and he's an
00:19:12.400
expert, guys, just ask him, is saying that opposition parties have to tell Canadians, including their own
00:19:18.700
members, to stop being rude to Justin Trudeau. You know, the only thing more gross than this partisan
00:19:26.180
police chief who wants to jail you for being uncivil is the state broadcaster who is lusting for a new
00:19:34.320
era of jailing peaceful opponents. Stay with us for more.
00:19:39.500
Well, we're focused a lot on these Hamas encampments in Canada for a lot of reasons.
00:19:56.820
They're shocking when you think about what they're saying and what they're doing and the police response
00:20:01.560
and the political response, absolutely bizarre. But that's the new normal. I mean, how many times can a
00:20:07.760
politician say that's not who we are when it is, in fact, exactly who we are? I don't know if you saw
00:20:12.700
this out of Fredericton, New Brunswick. A Jewish kid, 14 years old, absolutely beat up by a Muslim kid
00:20:21.180
because. And it's all caught on tape and there's grown-ups there who are just fine with it.
00:20:37.760
Don't you move, you fucking touch me? You want to be auciones fan, right?
00:21:14.980
Yeah, I mean, who cares, right? That's just how it is
00:21:36.840
I want to take a break from that story, even though we've been covering it intensely
00:21:41.580
Because there are other things that affect our world
00:21:44.180
And in fact, when I think of is there any light at the end of the tunnel here
00:21:48.400
I come to political answers, both in the case of Canada
00:21:55.840
He'll set a moral example and a legal example to the contrary
00:22:04.680
And I think the greatest change, not just for America and the world
00:22:09.980
But for Canada too, would be if the United States had a change in government this November
00:22:18.620
When they have their quadrennial presidential vote
00:22:28.540
As you know for years, he's covered the Democratic Party
00:22:32.420
Even though he himself is Republican in his leanings
00:22:36.680
Joel joins us now via Skype from the Los Angeles area
00:22:44.340
I want to take a break from talking about Israel and Hamas encampments
00:22:54.580
I mean, he's embroiled in lawfare litigation in New York City
00:23:03.960
Show that he is dominating in the battleground states
00:23:11.320
People are very dissatisfied with the leadership of Joe Biden
00:23:25.720
The middle class lifestyle is too expensive for middle class families to afford
00:23:32.880
Is a constant preoccupation with American voters
00:23:55.740
So Biden is seen as unable to lead the United States out of this mess
00:24:01.520
People remember that there was little to no inflation
00:24:05.480
Biden is now going around trying to claim that inflation was 9%
00:24:10.360
It was, in fact, just over 1%, between 1% and 2%
00:24:13.480
It only took off after Biden spent trillions of dollars
00:24:17.020
In excess of what had already been spent during the pandemic
00:24:20.360
So people have a sense that Biden doesn't know where to lead the country or how
00:24:24.720
You have something in economics called animal spirits
00:24:35.220
To the simple attitude or posture of the economy
00:24:41.980
If people are willing to take risks and invest in the future
00:24:49.960
And Donald Trump is very good at animating that
00:24:55.320
In many areas of his political and personal life
00:24:58.280
But that hyperbole actually helps Americans think beyond the present
00:25:05.880
Biden is incapable of mustering that kind of courage
00:25:10.300
That kind of confidence among the American people
00:25:15.240
Which is usually an indicator that the economy is doing well
00:25:21.180
Plus the lack of leadership from the White House
00:25:24.040
Have convinced many Americans that the economy is very poor
00:25:30.580
In almost all of the swing states that are going to be hotly contested
00:25:34.100
Between the two candidates in the November election
00:25:44.640
And that's why nobody else does it in the world really
00:25:47.040
But we're going to see if a surge for Donald Trump
00:25:55.380
Or whether Democrats will be able to manipulate the system
00:26:10.560
I don't know if you've ever looked at the relative cost of housing
00:26:27.800
That our conservative opposition leader has run
00:26:30.940
Is comparing houses on the Canada and U.S. border
00:26:34.940
Just, you know, a few miles away from each other
00:26:44.700
Is because those 20, 30, and 40-something voters
00:26:53.500
They support the conservative party very strongly
00:26:57.260
In fact, millennials are one of the strongest demographics
00:27:21.080
Or is it still cool to vote for the party of AOC and radical Sheik?
00:27:28.980
I do think that Biden will still win the youth vote, so to speak
00:27:33.000
But he is not doing as well as a typical Democratic candidate would do among younger voters
00:27:38.840
And here, the crisis in the Middle East has really hurt him
00:27:42.440
Because even though Americans support Israel over Hamas, 80% to 20%
00:27:48.080
The percentage is much narrower among younger voters
00:27:51.120
Younger voters don't understand the history of the Middle East
00:27:57.960
They are taken up by the movement to start all these encampments
00:28:08.940
There are all sorts of hilarious videos of protesters being interviewed
00:28:13.160
About what from the river to the sea actually means
00:28:18.100
But nevertheless, they're caught up in the movement
00:28:21.440
Just as in the George Floyd Black Lives Matter protest of 2020
00:28:25.040
It's a moment when the far left and young people are asserting their primacy
00:28:39.200
Or in any way that can reach out to those people
00:28:44.160
Maybe that has to do with the concerns they're expressing
00:28:51.180
And it's not working to persuade young voters to come back to him
00:29:05.780
The past two presidential election cycles on the Democratic side
00:29:12.340
Who are the alternatives to the mainstream candidate
00:29:15.960
Finally, in 2020, it all coalesced around Joe Biden
00:29:19.340
Because he was the moderate out of a field of 20 left-wing candidates
00:29:23.920
Even though he himself began to adopt more and more left-wing positions
00:29:28.060
But this time, there's no Bernie Sanders running
00:29:33.160
The one prominent candidate to the left of Joe Biden
00:29:48.320
And he believes that Israel has the right to defend itself
00:29:59.840
To find Kennedy to be a left-wing alternative to Joe Biden
00:30:03.640
There are left-wing candidates to the left of Kennedy
00:30:23.620
Or at least within the broad spectrum of left-of-center politics
00:30:51.560
You know, I remember when the candidate for Senate
00:31:12.360
That someone who had a cognitive damage like that
00:31:28.040
Imagine how bad the Republicans were to lose to John Fetterman
00:32:05.100
That, you know, the late Rush Limbaugh might have used
00:32:13.140
But it's one of the most surprising developments
00:32:25.000
But I couldn't believe someone who was so disabled
00:32:43.400
You should look at the governor of Pennsylvania
00:33:58.700
But Pennsylvania allowed oil and gas exploration
00:34:12.640
Before locals have had their key needs addressed
