Summary

A trucker's convoy is the biggest news story in Canada because it's doing what no politician or judge has the courage to do: vaccinate truckers. Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer? There's 8500 customers here and you won't give them an answer?

00:00:00.000 Hello my Rebels, today I talk to you about the mighty truckin' convoy that's headed from across
00:00:06.340 Canada to Ottawa. We've got a couple people on the convoy itself, in the convoy, and a couple
00:00:12.880 reporters who are not at the main site but have tracked it so far in Calgary and Edmonton. So it's
00:00:19.360 a good show, we'll show you lots of footage and over the course of the next week I think we'll
00:00:22.980 have lots of updates because we actually have that embedded team. You can see it, this really
00:00:27.800 is a visual story, so please consider going to rebelnewsplus.com, clicking subscribe. It's

00:00:52.820 independent. We don't take a dime from Trudeau and it shows. All right, here's today's show.
00:00:57.800 Tonight, the trucker's convoy is the biggest news story in Canada because it's doing what
00:01:16.860 no politician or judge had the courage to do. It's January 24th and this is the Ezra LeVance
00:01:22.120 show. Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know? There's 8,500
00:01:29.120 customers here and you won't give them an answer. The only thing I have to say to the government
00:01:34.180 is because it's my bloody right to do so.
00:01:38.120 I bet you've seen this in an email or on social media. It's sort of incredible. It's a crowdfunding
00:01:50.140 campaign on GoFundMe to raise money for the convoy of trucks across Canada converging in Ottawa to
00:01:57.380 protest Trudeau's bizarre and unscientific and destructive and punitive vaccine mandate for
00:02:04.120 truckers. Last I checked this morning, the GoFundMe had raised more than three and a half million
00:02:09.580 dollars. That's incredible. It's got to be one of the largest crowd funds in Canadian history, I have
00:02:14.540 to think. It's really a series of convoys from different parts of the country converging and heading
00:02:23.560 to Ottawa. They'll get there in about a week or so. The purpose is to protest Trudeau's bizarre
00:02:28.100 requirement. The trucker is perhaps the most solitary profession, alone in their trucks all
00:02:33.600 day, that they have to get a vaccine or they lose their ability to work to cross the border,
00:02:38.040 which a lot of trucks do. It's punitive. It's not about public health. It's about attacking small
00:02:44.900 businessmen and entrepreneurs, which many truckers are. They have their own truck. They're free spirits.
00:02:51.520 They're independent. I'm guessing there aren't a lot of Trudeau voters in the trucking community.
00:02:55.880 Just a hunch. So, Trudeau loves to hate them.
On va continuer
00:03:49.600 faire.
00:06:33.820 Several of your MPs have tweeted out support for the convoy.
00:06:39.260 One of them saying that he felt the Prime Minister had a vendetta against people who were unvaccinated.
00:06:46.140 Do you support the convoy, its goals, its objectives,
00:06:50.220 even though the Canadian Trucking Alliance says this could be disruptive?
00:06:52.940 And to follow, again, repeat Louis's question, will you meet with them when they come to Ottawa?
00:06:58.380 We've been talking to the Canadian Truckers Alliance, Glenn, for several months.
00:07:02.220 We've seen a crisis in the supply chain coming for several months,
00:07:06.380 and we've proposed policies to try and help alleviate that.
00:07:10.300 The most important of which is vaccines.
00:07:13.260 You didn't answer my question about whether you...
00:07:15.900 Yes, I did, Glenn. Vaccines are a critical tool,
00:07:18.460 and we need to make sure we keep store shelves full.
00:07:21.820 Maybe you can answer in response to my next question, sir, you can say whether you meet with them.
00:07:26.540 That's why last week, Glenn...
00:07:27.820 My follow-up question is about the supply chain.
00:07:29.980 One of your MPs tweeted out a photograph purporting to be empty grocery store shelves in Canada,
00:07:36.860 turns out it was actually from the UK several years ago.
00:07:39.900 When things like that happen, does that undermine your party's credibility on this issue?
00:07:44.940 Well, we've been talking about shortages for some time.
00:07:47.500 So has the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.
00:07:49.660 We've been...
00:07:50.620 There are unvaccinated truckers rolling into Ottawa.
00:07:53.580 You won't say whether you support them.
00:07:55.260 You won't say whether you will meet with them.
00:07:57.500 So what should Canadians think about your position?
00:08:00.300 Do you not support the trucking convoy?
00:08:02.220 I support getting as many people vaccinated as possible, including truckers.
00:08:08.780 So what's your message then to truckers who have maybe spent the past month thinking that
00:08:14.940 you kind of have their backs and calling for reasonable accommodations and rapid tests.
00:08:19.100 And again, you still won't answer, will you meet with them when they come to Ottawa?
00:08:22.380 Do you support their efforts and coming all the way here?
00:08:26.540 What's your message to truckers who might be disappointed that you are dodging questions
00:08:30.380 and when you won't say whether you'll meet with them?
00:08:33.100 Well, let me be crystal clear.
00:08:34.860 We've been meeting with the Canadian Trucking Association for several months.
00:08:39.660 In fact, we've written the minister on this.
00:08:42.380 And at every occasion, I encourage truckers to get vaccinated.
00:08:47.420 Yeah, he's called a conservative opposition leader, but he's...
00:08:51.980 None of those words, is he?
00:08:53.100 He's not very conservative.
00:08:54.380 He doesn't really oppose anything of substance that Trudeau does.
00:08:57.740 And I really don't think he's much of a leader.
00:08:59.900 He's more of a hider than a leader.
00:09:03.420 I think the reporter who was asking those questions, if I recognize the voice,
00:09:06.460 I think it was this guy, Glenn McGregor.
00:09:08.940 Here's a tweet that he did yesterday.
00:09:13.020 Statement from GoFundMe to CTV about the fundraiser for Truckers for Freedom.
00:09:19.660 Freedom Convoy 2022 that has raised $2.5 million.
00:09:24.780 And he shows a response from the crowdfunding website GoFundMe that they wrote to him.
00:09:29.100 He obviously was asking them if they were going to cut off and shut down the truckers.
00:09:34.300 And it sounds like GoFundMe were actually working with the truckers to ensure
00:09:38.220 that everything was compliant so the money would flow.
00:09:40.940 Say, do you think that's real journalism?
00:09:44.140 Or is that sort of mob cancel culture in the guise of journalism?
00:09:48.060 I would have liked to have seen McGregor's email to GoFundMe that elicited that reply.
00:09:52.860 Because I don't think it's normal or natural or even journalistic at all, really,
00:09:57.500 to ask GoFundMe if they're going to cut off someone's campaign.
00:10:01.500 That's a provocation. That's an implied threat that the same journalist will embarrass them
00:10:06.540 with a bad news story if they don't say, yes, yes, we're going to cut off these evil people.
00:10:12.060 And I don't think it's a coincidence that McGregor did that.
00:10:15.820 At the same time, Trudeau's disgraced hatchet man, Gerald Butts, has done a dozen tweets
00:10:22.860 attacking the convoy.
00:10:24.380 I think the media party were getting their instructions.
00:10:26.860 Here's something Butts said. An Alberta separatist has collected almost a million bucks
00:10:31.820 on a GoFundMe page to, quote, support trucker protests. Where will the money go?
00:10:36.700 The murky matter of protests and the donations that drive them. Truck news.
00:10:43.100 So you're an Alberta separatist now if you support truckers.
00:10:47.500 Gee, I wonder where Trudeau got his advice to call
00:10:50.060 people racist or misogynist too. I guess the only thing worse than a racist, sexist,
00:10:57.420 Western separatist is someone who follows Tucker Carlson. Pierre Polyev, one of the few conservative
00:11:03.660 MPs to finally call for an end to lockdowns. Well, that was just too much for Butts, who tweeted in
00:11:10.220 reply. This will sound like Fox News to the vast majority of Canadians. The vast majority of
00:11:16.220 Canadians are not fans of Fox News. That, in a nutshell, is why the conservatives keep losing
00:11:22.060 elections. Well, the word freedom is actually a Canadian word too. Perhaps you've heard of the
00:11:28.220 Charter of Rights and Freedoms. Pierre Polyev didn't mention Fox or anything American at all,
00:11:33.900 but to Gerald Butts, anyone who mentions freedom can't be a true Canadian, which is weird because
00:11:40.140 Butts himself, after being thrown out of Trudeau's office in disgrace over the Jody Wilson-Raybould
00:11:44.540 matter, went to work for an American lobby forum in New York. That's weird. And then Butts linked to
00:11:51.260 this conspiracy theory, where the convoy was apparently being funded by foreign operatives or
00:11:59.660 something? I'm serious. And they were money laundering? I'm serious. Full-on conspiracy
00:12:06.220 theory thread that Gerald Butts was pointing to. You can tell they're worried, I guess, by how much
00:12:13.180 he's hate tweeting about it. Butts did quote the truck news, as I showed before. That's not really
00:12:20.540 his favorite people, people who read the truck news. Butts is against fossil fuel use. He's more a Prius
00:12:27.340 guy when he's not in a private jet himself. Here's their attack on the convoy, which sort of surprised
00:12:34.300 me. The murky matter of protests and the donations that drive them. Sounds like Butts himself might
00:12:42.540 have even written this, frankly. First of all, it starts off by surrendering to Trudeau. That's the
00:12:49.260 approach that Butts wants all of his critics to take, to give up immediately without a fight. Here's
00:12:54.220 the truck news. They say, such protests rarely deliver results, aside from angering the motoring
00:13:00.780 public and casting shade on our industry. We will report on significant events that
00:13:05.580 disrupt our industry and your businesses, but do nothing to support this form of protest.
00:13:14.540 Let me read a little bit more. One disturbing trend is the amount of money being thrown at recent
00:13:20.700 attempts to bring commerce to a halt. What a loser. It's already had tremendous results.
00:13:28.940 And too bad truck news wasn't part of it. They literally sold out their own people. What a weird
00:13:34.460 lie, though, the convoy is trying to bring commerce to a halt. No, it's not. What a weird liar. That's
00:13:40.700 Trudeau's ban on truckers that would bring commerce to a halt. These convoys are not blocking roads.
00:13:47.020 They're a convoy, not a blockade. What a weird lie. But again, the obsession with money. And I was
00:13:53.580 thinking, why is that? I think that's called projection in psychology. Truck news is owned by
00:13:59.340 a company called Newcom, which has received literally 10 different grants from Trudeau's
00:14:06.620 media bailout in the last year. I checked. So yeah, I know why they're obsessed with money,
00:14:13.260 because it's all they think about. And so they're obsessed with pleasing Gerald Butts and the Liberal
00:14:18.220 Party. And how about the Truckers Alliance? That's something else that Gerald Butts mentioned. He points
00:14:24.540 out that the Truckers Alliance, supposedly the industry association, they're against the convoy too,
00:14:30.540 which is odd. Isn't it their job to stand up for truckers as opposed to stand against them?
00:14:36.060 Yeah, about that. If you look at the government grants, you'll see 14 contracts from the federal
00:14:45.260 government to different truckers associations over the past few years. Hundreds of thousands
00:14:52.140 of dollars from Trudeau to the truckers associations. So really, you can't trust any institution at all
00:14:57.740 these days until you first find out how much money they've been taking from Trudeau to defend Trudeau,
00:15:04.700 even against their own members' interests. So what's my point? My point is something has changed.
00:15:12.380 All the institutions that could be bought off, all the media, all the industry associations,
00:15:19.020 all the politicians, they're not in control of this anymore, are they? I think that's what really
00:15:23.740 bugs the truck news. No one's listening. No one cares what they have to say. I think that's what's
00:15:27.740 bugging the Trucking Alliance. No one cares what they have to say. They're just politicians now.
00:15:32.060 And a very independent-minded group of Canadians, truckers, well, they're being successful.
00:15:42.780 And this thing has just started. It has a week to go. And it's already mustering thousands,
00:15:49.180 even tens of thousands of people along the way, isn't it? And the money that's being raised,
00:15:55.420 I think that's a barometer of how much people care, isn't it? None of that money is actually being
00:16:00.060 released to organizers yet. I think it will be, but it might never be. I don't know. But the hugeness
00:16:08.220 of that number shows how much people want this protest. And it should shame every so-called
00:16:15.980 check and balance in our system who has failed this past two years. I'm very proud of the fact
00:16:21.500 that we have embedded reporters in the convoy. Two of our journalists, Mocha and a young reporter
00:16:28.700 named Celine, and we have reporters covering it in other cities too. We'll show you what's really
00:16:35.500 happening every day. Not just the smears by Gerald Butts and the rest of the disgraced,
00:16:41.740 bought-off media, like that guy at Truck News. Stay with us for more on this.
00:16:58.460 How many more.
00:17:19.340 How many more?
00:17:19.900 Thank you.
00:17:49.900 Wow. That is amazing.
00:18:07.460 Lots of flags there. I saw the Canadian flag. I saw the BC flag.
00:18:10.900 I saw an indigenous flag. I saw a ton of homemade signs.
00:18:14.400 I saw maybe a hundred cars parked along the side of the road.
00:18:18.040 Big trucks. That footage, if I'm not mistaken, was taken by our rebel reporters embedded in the convoy.
00:18:25.380 As you may recall, on Friday, we spoke to our chief videographer, Mocha Bazir again,
00:18:29.560 who will spend the next week with the convoy driving all the way to Ottawa.
00:18:34.100 We have a second junior reporter with him who will be helping film while Mocha drives.
00:18:40.100 And who knows? We'll probably have some footage from within a truck.
00:18:44.460 We're just getting started. It's so exciting. That was very persuasive footage.
00:18:51.100 But this is indeed a large protest in many measures, larger than anything we've seen in the cities.
00:18:56.600 It's true. You've seen some protests in this in Toronto, Montreal, exceeding 10,000 people.
00:19:03.060 I certainly wouldn't want to downplay that.
00:19:05.260 But to have people lining the sides of the highways for miles.
00:19:09.420 I understand that more than 2,000 people gathered at one stop yesterday.
00:19:13.840 This is enormous. As I told you earlier, I just checked, and the crowd fund is around $3.5 million.
00:19:21.120 It's not even what they do with that money.
00:19:23.580 I think most people in the convoy are happy to buy their own sandwiches and motel room and gas.
00:19:28.440 It's just a symbol, a barometer, of how passionately people feel, more than 42,000 donors to that convoy.
00:19:37.640 You can see that Gerald Butts doesn't like it one bit.
00:19:40.180 He's actively agitating against the crowdfunding and his compliant journalists trying to pressure GoFundMe to cancel it.
00:19:48.440 I don't think they will succeed because it's so obviously a law-abiding, good-faith gesture.
00:19:53.540 I told you that Mocha and a new young reporter, Selene, are on the road with the convoy.
00:20:00.420 But we have started our reporting earlier, in fact, yesterday.
00:20:05.160 And I understand we've got some very dramatic footage.
00:20:07.960 Joining me now via Skype from both Calgary and Edmonton are my friends Adam Sos in Calgary
00:20:14.140 and our chief reporter, Sheila Gunn-Reed in Northern Alberta.
00:20:17.000 Good to see you guys, and welcome.
00:20:19.140 Hey, boss.
00:20:19.660 Thank you. Happy to be here.
00:20:20.480 Well, you have both done reporting because I guess the convoy is actually a series of convoys that combine together
00:20:27.240 because Canada is such a large place.
00:20:29.320 You have different strands, I suppose, that are then threaded together into a rope, if I can make a metaphor.
00:20:35.600 Sheila, let's start off with you.
00:20:37.060 I understand you were at a truck stop that had an enormous gathering.
00:20:41.120 It was absolutely enormous.
00:20:43.140 It was west of Edmonton in the Atchison Industrial Park.
00:20:46.000 There's a huge truck stop there.
00:20:47.220 And the truckers were slated to come through at about 5.30 yesterday afternoon.
00:20:52.600 I got there shortly after 4.00.
00:20:54.220 There's probably already 1,000 people on site at that time, people waiting in their vehicles, lined up on the roads, on the overpass.
00:21:01.760 Before the night was done, well over 2,000 people were there.
00:21:05.400 The truckers were approximately two hours delayed because the conspiracy theorist in me would say the Department of Transportation is doing a bit of Justin Trudeau's dirty work.
00:21:19.100 The way scales were open and they were delayed.
00:21:21.940 So they made every truck pull over and be weighed.
00:21:24.400 Most of these trucks are empty, by the way.
00:21:26.500 Pull over, get weighed, check their logbooks.
00:21:28.400 You know what, that harassment, I'm not surprised at all.
00:21:32.760 The RCMP, Toronto Police, Calgary Police, Edmonton Police, Montreal Police, so many police forces in this.
00:21:40.560 Peterborough Police have been turned into, Elmer Police have been turned into thugs.
00:21:44.840 Why wouldn't Department of Transport Police be turned into thugs too?
00:21:49.040 I mean, they've got their jobs.
00:21:50.200 What do they care?
00:21:50.760 Well, that's the thing.
00:21:52.440 These guys aren't hauling anything.
00:21:53.980 I mean, these are largely empty trucks.
00:21:56.580 A lot of it is pickup trucks, to be honest with you, because a lot of the truckers are not owner-operators.
00:22:03.240 They work for other companies, so they can't take their boss's truck on this journey across the country.
00:22:08.940 But yesterday, well over 2,000 people waited in the freezing rain and then the snow just to show up to thank the truckers,
00:22:17.220 but also to send the Edmonton-area truckers on their way as they threaded it into the rope on the way to Calgary.
00:22:24.920 And while I was there, you know, you could tell that this was the first nationwide movement against the vaccine mandates.
00:22:33.540 You know, we've had restaurants pop up and rebel in Alberta, churches across the country sort of pop up and rebel.
00:22:40.400 A lot of them in Alberta.
00:22:41.520 We've seen gyms open up in B.C.
00:22:43.300 We've seen a curfew, scofflaws in Quebec, but nothing that puts the entire country together on this one issue.
00:22:53.820 And it's not just about truckers.
00:22:55.440 It's about our groceries in the store.
00:22:57.380 It's about our small businesses getting our goods to market.
00:23:00.200 And it's about respecting the people who worked hard to keep our economy going as the Liberals actively shut it down for 22 months.
00:23:10.820 And so that's what this is about.
00:23:12.360 And so that's why you see people lined up on the side of the Trans-Canada Highway.
00:23:18.140 People who want to be on the convoy but can't be, they don't know what else to do but show up with food, with cookies and signs to just thank them for fighting for everybody else.
00:23:28.360 Yeah, it's incredible.
00:23:29.560 The organizer of this event is a Métis woman from the West who is not even a trucker herself.
00:23:35.920 And she just loves freedom and good for her.
00:23:38.080 And she's put this together.
00:23:39.220 It's really telling to me that Gerald Butts is in such a fury.
00:23:42.560 He's in a tweet storm of rage against her.
00:23:46.500 I guess Justin Trudeau and Gerald Butts never do well with strong-willed indigenous women from the West.
00:23:51.880 Just ask Jody Wilson-Raybould if you need proof.
00:23:54.520 Now, Adam, you had a very special bird's-eye view of the Calgary thread into this rope.
00:24:03.780 We've got a bit of a Rebel Air Force going on.
00:24:06.580 Let me throw to some video of that, and we'll be right back, and you can tell us about it.
00:24:09.900 Let's take a look.
00:24:15.940 Like, Bromo, Charlie, you're identified, and you're going to pick up Stoney and go east.
00:24:19.860 Is that right?
00:24:20.820 That's correct.
00:24:21.420 We're just following the convoy there, so we'll see where they're originating and follow them up.
00:24:26.220 Okay, that's all approved.
00:24:27.280 Just state 4,800 or below.
00:24:29.360 The case.
00:24:30.280 As the city begins to awaken, we are seeing cars on this early Monday morning take to the streets.
00:24:36.240 Many of them likely having breakfast, planning to go to the grocery stores today.
00:24:39.940 Doing all of these normal things, seemingly unaware of the absolute dependence they have on these truckers
00:24:46.320 and the work they're doing.
00:24:47.700 And truckers standing up not only for themselves and their homework, but for all against vaccine mandates.
00:24:53.660 So, Adam, that looks like it was taken last night from helicopter.
00:24:57.920 Tell us a little bit of what you saw from up in the sky.
00:25:02.340 Yeah, so it was actually this morning.
00:25:04.320 We were up at about 4 a.m. to get out there and to get up in the helicopter.
00:25:09.200 By the time we got out, it was about 6.37.
00:25:12.520 The convoy was originally slated to leave at 7 a.m., but as Sheila mentioned, it seems like a universal consensus among these truckers
00:25:21.300 and among the convoy that these weight scales that simply would not normally be open are all open,
00:25:26.940 and they're all doing due diligence on a level that has never before been seen.
00:25:30.960 So there seems to be some weight to that alleged conspiracy theory.
00:25:35.500 Conspiracy theories tend to come true these days in the COVID world, so it remains to be seen if we'll be able to find some information on that.
00:25:41.900 But as we got up into the sky, it was incredible.
00:25:44.760 We approached the truck stop in South Calgary where the crowd was gathering.
00:25:49.160 As we mentioned, they were supposed to roll in last night, but some people were still arriving because of the massive delays this morning well into the departure time.
00:25:59.180 So instead of having the convoy rolling out as we flew up, we simply had the group beginning to gather.
00:26:04.960 It was a sight to be seen, hard to gauge the number of trucks that were there.
00:26:08.600 But as we flew over the truck stop, there was vehicles lined up all the way around it, cars, people parked, honking, supporting.
00:26:15.940 The trucks all had their lights flashing, and it was certainly something to be seen, and that footage definitely shares the story.
00:26:23.460 The picture's worth more than a thousand words.
00:26:25.320 But it was incredible to see all these people gathered.
00:26:28.440 Even as we made our way out in the early morning, you'd see trucks driving from all directions with signs converging and gathering.
00:26:35.220 And shortly after we departed the helicopter and landed again, we drove into town.
00:26:41.020 You can stay up for so long in the helicopter and drove to where the convoy was leaving town, and we caught the tail end of that.
00:26:48.900 And we've only been through a province and a half of progress of this convoy building.
00:26:53.180 People are still just joining it right now.
00:26:55.200 But it was already pretty much as far as your eye could see both directions.
00:26:58.880 We had ample time to park as the convoy rolled up, walk a little bit of a way, set up and film.
00:27:03.280 So I can't imagine how big this is going to get by the time it reaches Ottawa.
00:27:08.060 Like Sheila said, this is certainly sort of a unique national event.
00:27:11.980 We're seeing for the first time these media outlets very often out there who've completely ignored the stories,
00:27:18.140 completely ignored when 10,000 people are in the streets of Toronto, 7,000, 5,000 people in the streets of Calgary.
00:27:23.840 Even they're starting to cover this because this is so significant.
00:27:27.940 It's starting to affect, like we said, the supply chain starting to affect people's lives on a more personal level.
00:27:34.320 So the story is expanding.
00:27:36.980 And the sentiment that we got from people literally up in the air, even on the weekend, we had this large protest, the worldwide rally for freedom.
00:27:43.860 The mood in the air is that the veneer is starting to crack, the facade is falling away, and people can kind of optimistically sense that hopefully freedom is around the corner.
00:27:54.880 Yeah.
00:27:55.240 I think something is changing also.
00:27:57.220 I think some people who complied under some duress to get two jabs are now feeling betrayed.
00:28:03.680 That they're being told that they're dirty, unclean anti-vaxxers if they don't get a third jab, and they have to take tests, and there's more lockdowns, especially in Ontario and Quebec.
00:28:14.280 And I think a lot of people are having a bit of buyer's remorse for really being suckered.
00:28:19.460 So I think you have that.
00:28:20.680 I think people are realizing an obvious fact, which is that the vaccines do not actually stop you from getting the virus, which I think is sort of stunning to a lot of people.
00:28:32.900 That's what the word vaccine has always meant.
00:28:35.160 And I think people are just tired.
00:28:36.420 Now, by the way, it is true that the supply chain is a factor, but I think that that's just a utilitarian approach.
00:28:44.640 I think it's the personal freedom of everyone that's a much larger factor, including the freedom of these truckers.
00:28:50.060 And I think that they mess with the wrong group.
00:28:52.900 Yeah.
00:28:53.580 Go ahead, Sheila.
00:28:55.080 Yeah, I will agree with you there.
00:28:56.440 I know a little something about the trucking industry.
00:28:58.040 My husband works in oil field trucking, and my father-in-law was a long-haul trucker for a very long time before he made the switch into oil field, heavy haul.
00:29:06.020 And Justin Trudeau really bungled this one because, you know, you can push around government workers.
00:29:13.800 You can push around a certain group of people.
00:29:17.080 But the thing with long-haul truckers, particularly the ones that make the long drive from the United States up to Canada, bringing the hipsters their avocados for their avocado and toast, these are people who like their time alone.
00:29:35.700 You don't get into heavy haul, long-haul trucking if you like having a boss over your shoulder.
00:29:42.620 These are people who embrace freedom.
00:29:44.320 They like the freedom of the open road, and they don't like being told what to do.
00:29:48.280 And that's why you get into an industry like long-haul trucking.
00:29:51.960 And so when Justin Trudeau picked a fight with them, he picked a fight with the wrong people.
00:29:56.920 And now all the opposition is coalescing around this one group.
00:30:02.500 Yeah.
00:30:02.980 You know, it's true.
00:30:04.440 I've talked about how being a long-haul trucker in some ways it's as reclusive as being a lighthouse keeper when you think about it.
00:30:10.600 But it's not just that.
00:30:12.220 I think there's a tradition of truckers to listen to talk radio, maybe call in, banter on the CBs.
00:30:18.880 And I find that people who are by themselves in the truck or in farm equipment, they think about things.
00:30:27.060 They may be listening to the radio more than most folks listen to talk radio.
00:30:30.860 They have opinions about things.
00:30:32.780 And I think that they're going to be more independent-minded and probably better informed than just some, you know, desk bureaucrat who's part of a union that immediately surrendered and, well, I just got to do it.
00:30:47.280 So I think it's wonderful that these truckers, as Orwell said in 1984, if there is any hope, it's the proles.
00:30:54.720 That was his nickname for the proletariat.
00:30:56.700 Not the fancy people in Toronto who couldn't wait to tweet a picture of how many masks they wore, you know, to keep up with the Joneses.
00:31:06.000 If there's any hope, it's with the proles.
00:31:08.380 Adam, last word from Calgary to you, and then we'll finish up with Sheila.
00:31:11.080 The convoy has left Calgary now, I presume, and Mocha and Selene are in the convoy.
00:31:21.380 Do you think anything has changed in Alberta?
00:31:24.140 I see Jason Kenney trying to sort of side with the convoy but not quite coming out in favor.
00:31:29.720 Do you think things are going to get freer or do you think you're going to see a relapse into lockdown?
00:31:35.560 Yeah, I mean, I think that there is at least the very hope.
00:31:39.900 I mean, we already had the best summer ever, so who knows.
00:31:42.820 But it's interesting that you mentioned the radio with these truckers.
00:31:46.720 You can actually listen in to the official radio that the truckers are using on this convoy.
00:31:52.340 And it's incredible, province to province, with so many people calling from Alberta, children calling in, families calling in, sharing their support.
00:32:00.740 The amount of people that we saw out at this protest, the amount of people who we're talking to who have been going along with this or who are double vaccinated, and they're saying enough is enough.
00:32:12.420 And that even beyond that, they're not just saying we want to open up.
00:32:16.280 They're kind of this woke, active political activism now.
00:32:20.380 They're awake in a way they weren't before.
00:32:22.260 And I think very often the people who were alert were often people who maybe were from Venezuela, were from Poland, were from countries where this sort of thing has happened in the past.
00:32:31.820 And so they're alert to those concerns.
00:32:34.160 I think Albertans now, with some broken promises and with some shifting, they have become alert to political corruptness and political corruption and political parties stripping away their rights.
00:32:46.740 So I think that they are hopeful that things will open up, but I do think they have changed on a fundamental level and that they will not allow things to lock down again.
00:32:55.880 I think that they know that they have to take an active role and that they're not simply going to be placated or ushered into a sense of comfort and simply go along any longer.
00:33:05.420 So I can tell you for the first time since the onset of COVID, I don't think any of us believe the open for some are open for good.
00:33:12.040 We called that out immediately.
00:33:12.980 I think for the first time, with a bit of a guarded nature to it, but there is a sense of optimism in Alberta that things might be actually changing for the better and hopefully changing for good.
00:33:24.260 Sheila, you've covered convoys before.
00:33:26.600 I know a couple of years ago there was a convoy to Ottawa from the West and it was more energy support workers get out of this madness of shutting down the oil patch.
00:33:38.220 There's probably some of that behind this too.
00:33:40.340 I think it's a general frustration with a set of policies that make no sense scientifically, economically, regionally, but this time there's that added edge of violating civil liberties.
00:33:55.320 This seems like it is so many, it's like exponentially deeper and more serious than the last convoy.
00:34:03.040 What do you think?
00:34:03.600 Yeah, it has all the same problems that the last convoy ran up against.
00:34:10.120 So, you know, as you say, blocking pipelines is unscientific.
00:34:14.520 So are these COVID mandates.
00:34:16.140 And, you know, it doesn't make sense regionally, likewise with COVID mandates.
00:34:20.160 So there's a lot of that happening here.
00:34:22.420 And it does have that extra layer of violating civil liberties.
00:34:25.460 And a lot of people, as you say, were coerced into getting a vaccine they didn't want.
00:34:30.500 And I think, again, with Justin Trudeau underestimating who he picked a fight with, you're dealing with long-haul truckers who routinely make the haul to the southern United States where COVID is no longer a thing anymore.
00:34:45.300 And then they have to come back to Canada and they look at the same COVID infection rates and we're both dealing with Omicron.
00:34:52.200 But life is much different in the place where they just picked up their load and they've got to drive back to Canada.
00:34:58.540 So you're dealing with people who are seeing both sides of this.
00:35:02.020 And to use the word that Adam used, they're really awake to how bad the tyranny is in Canada because they've tasted the other side.
00:35:11.440 Yeah, that's a great point.
00:35:12.560 Well, I'm so glad the coverage you guys have done.
00:35:15.220 And for folks who want to follow our coverage several times a day, we will update the website ConvoyReports.com.
00:35:24.340 Mocha and Celine are on the ground.
00:35:26.800 We will have reports in various cities as we've just done from Calgary and Edmonton.
00:35:31.580 And if you want to be up to date, go to ConvoyReports.com.
00:35:35.040 If you want to chip in a few bucks to help pay our bills, please do.
00:35:38.460 I'm delighted that the crowdfund for the project as a whole is going so large.
00:35:42.700 Obviously, we don't tap into their crowdfund.
00:35:45.560 We have to crowdfund our own journalism.
00:35:47.900 I think it's very important that Rebel News reporters are embedded in this convoy to tell the truth about it because I don't think Trudeau's bailout media will.
00:35:56.320 Stay with us.
00:35:57.920 More ahead.
00:36:01.580 Hey, welcome back.
00:36:12.100 Your feedback.
00:36:13.000 Someone with the nickname Lake Nipissing says,
00:36:15.780 People around the world are waiting for this to happen.
00:36:19.620 It was good to see the convoy was mentioned on National Post and Global.
00:36:23.660 I was really expecting this to be censored through omission.
00:36:27.200 Once the truckers park and walk away from their rigs in Ottawa and shut the place down, the Canadian mainstream media will not be able to ignore it.
00:36:35.000 Congrats to Tamara Lich, a Métis woman, for being one of the main organizers of the group Freedom Convoy 2022.
00:36:41.880 I agree with that.
00:36:45.140 I have seen what I will call neutral coverage in a couple of places, but I think it's a matter of time before they stick the daggers in.
00:36:54.100 Racist stab, sexist stab, misogynist stab.
00:36:58.320 I don't know quite how they do that when, as you point out, the chief organizer is actually a young Métis woman from the West.
00:37:04.540 Then again, Trudeau and Gerald Butz never did well with young Indigenous women from the West.
00:37:10.460 Ask Jody Wilson-Raybould if you need proof.
00:37:13.360 Deb Wilson says,
00:37:14.800 The reason they continue to push the vaccine, even on those who have natural immunity, is because health is not the issue.
00:37:20.540 Compliance is.
00:37:21.880 Nothing but compliance will satisfy these tyrants.
00:37:24.560 Yeah, it's really weird.
00:37:25.660 I mean, we have, what, 80%, 90% compliance already.
00:37:30.560 That's far beyond anything epidemiologists generally say is herd immunity.
00:37:34.900 This is about punishment and compliance and trying out new systems.
00:37:38.640 Systems of surveillance, systems of privacy violations, systems of tracking you.
00:37:44.100 I think that's what it's about.
00:37:45.340 Snibbles Lernergimental, if I'm saying it right, says,
00:37:51.740 Truckers need to go all the way with this.
00:37:54.200 Block and shut down everything.
00:37:56.260 Close down major highways and access points for as long as it is possible.
00:38:00.420 If more GoFundMes need to be set up, by all means, let's get it done.
00:38:04.520 This needs to be a regular and long-term thing from now on and during the working weekdays.
00:38:08.800 If possible, until all mandates are dropped, everyone needs to feel the impact of this,
00:38:13.780 including and especially the majority, businesses and individuals who have allowed government and medical tyranny to prevail.
00:38:20.680 Well, what you're talking about there is a general strike.
00:38:24.880 And we don't really have a lot of those in Canada.
00:38:26.920 There was a general strike that the communists supported in Winnipeg about a century ago.
00:38:32.740 I think that the convoy has deliberately chosen not to block highways
00:38:37.100 because they want to keep the people cheering, not hurting the people.
00:38:41.880 And I think that's probably wise.
00:38:44.820 Anything like that will be immediately pounced on.
00:38:47.540 You can see the Trucker News is already smearing the truckers for blocking and grinding down business,
00:38:53.160 which they have actually not done.
00:38:54.680 I'm not against a general strike.
00:38:56.900 And I think the problem is, as Sheila mentioned, until now, you've had this restaurant or that barbershop or this store pop up,
00:39:06.900 and it's like whack-a-mole, and the government whacks them down so hard.
00:39:10.340 But what if everyone popped up at once?
00:39:12.780 That's the feeling of a general strike.
00:39:14.760 Too many things to lock down.
00:39:15.740 And that's the feeling of this trucker convoy, is that it's so big, and it's so nationwide,
00:39:21.780 you can't just crack down like John Tory, the Toronto mayor, cracked down on that Adamson's barbecue a year or so ago.
00:39:29.960 You can't just crack down on Arthur Pavlovsky's church or Chris Scott's Whistle Stop Cafe in Muir, Alberta,
00:39:36.620 that it's so big.
00:39:37.580 It's sort of like, I'm Spartacus.
00:39:38.800 No, I'm Spartacus.
00:39:39.840 So I think there's something to that, but I think the aggressiveness with which you speak is perhaps too much for Canadians.
00:39:47.880 I don't know.
00:39:49.940 I do know when there was an attempt to grind Canada to a halt by blocking railroad tracks and mining roads and logging roads,
00:39:58.340 when it was done by the left, it actually sort of worked.
00:40:00.800 Everything was ground down, and Trudeau sent emissaries to negotiate.
00:40:04.260 But I think that lawbreaking brings with it a resistance from most Canadians who say they don't want to go that far.
00:40:12.540 I'm pleased with the convoy, as it is.
00:40:14.940 I think it's lawful and upbeat and positive, and it's a rallying point.
00:40:20.520 People can see it physically.
00:40:21.800 They can go out on the roads.
00:40:22.860 And even the number on that crowdfund is a form of online rallying.
00:40:28.600 And I think it's been successful.
00:40:29.800 So at this point, at least, I think I would disagree with your demand that it go into a full general strike.
00:40:35.800 Although I've got to tell you, there would be no quicker way to end the mandate than if fire departments, police departments,
00:40:42.760 or any other essential service had a strike over the VAX.
00:40:46.520 I'm not recommending it.
00:40:47.500 I haven't thought about it much, but that would get people's attention.
00:40:50.360 That's our show for today.
00:40:51.960 We'll end with our video today.
00:40:53.900 Our friend, Arthur Pawlowski, was with the truckers, and he gave a speech.
00:40:57.820 And I'll leave you with that until tomorrow on behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters to you at home.
00:41:02.840 Good night, and keep fighting for free.
00:41:04.760 So they were the heroes for the 22 years and 20 years.
00:41:09.540 Now there are zeros because some corrupted politician says so?
00:41:14.680 Are you kidding me?
00:41:16.260 You see, we are teachers.
00:41:18.120 We are trackers.
00:41:19.420 We are nurses.
00:41:20.660 We are Canadians.
00:41:22.360 That's why I am here.
00:41:23.560 Well, hello, everyone.
00:41:28.080 We're in Calgary, Alberta.
00:41:29.460 We're expecting the Freedom Convoy to arrive here.
00:41:33.040 And here are the supporters who have assembled here to provide food and comfort for the truckers.
00:41:41.080 I'm here with Katie.
00:41:42.600 Katie, what's going on here?
00:41:44.280 Can you give us an update?
00:41:45.300 Can you tell our viewers across Canada what's happening?
00:41:48.360 So right now we're waiting for the truckers to come from Edmonton.
00:41:52.860 They just left.
00:41:54.140 They've been having issues with the weigh scales because, of course, they're trying to put everything in the way of stopping this.
00:41:59.820 So it might be a little delayed.
00:42:01.260 But we have, what I heard, over 800 truckers coming here all over the place.
00:42:05.720 We've got from Edmonton, from BC, and from the United States coming down here tonight.
00:42:11.940 And we also have at least two or three other groups that came and provided us with all this food for all the truckers
00:42:18.620 and just make sure that they've got supplies to stand up against all this.
00:42:22.840 We are here in solidarity with every Canadian, with every father, every mother that had been subjugated to this tyranny
00:42:32.200 because we have to start naming things the way they are.
00:42:36.480 This is not about mandates and regulations.
00:42:40.960 This is not about saving lives.
00:42:43.060 This is about control.
00:42:44.880 They are destroying lives.
00:42:47.220 I mean, teachers, come here, teachers.
00:42:49.540 Look, how long have you been teaching?
00:42:51.700 22 years.
00:42:53.040 22 years.
00:42:54.020 She was perfectly okay to teach for 22 years.
00:42:57.380 How long have you been teaching?
00:42:58.580 20 years.
00:42:59.300 20 years.
00:43:00.040 For 20 years and 22 years, they were fine.
00:43:03.080 They were okay.
00:43:04.100 Suddenly now, the government, the wannabe tyrants, the Adolf Kennys, the Trudeau Castros,
00:43:11.040 or the wannabe doctors like Tom and Hinsha, they're telling them they cannot work anymore.
00:43:16.700 Excuse me, why?
00:43:18.540 Because of a flu?
00:43:19.900 Okay, flu with a kick.
00:43:22.680 That's why?
00:43:23.920 So they were the heroes for the 22 years.
00:43:27.700 In 20 years.
00:43:28.820 Now there are zeros because some corrupted politician says so?
00:43:33.860 Are you kidding me?
00:43:35.540 You see, we are teachers.
00:43:37.420 We are trackers.
00:43:38.720 We are nurses.
00:43:39.920 We are Canadians.
00:43:41.140 That's why I am here.
00:43:43.240 Well, thank you so much for the update.
00:43:50.920 Drive and people will move.
00:43:52.580 Can I get a spot?
00:43:53.840 Yeah.
00:43:54.120 Anybody know how to spot?
00:43:55.900 Yeah, I'm going to back this thing here.
00:43:58.860 Anybody know how to spot?
00:44:03.340 I'm living here today.
00:44:07.080 Because of life's distance for freedom, and they won't take that away.
00:44:17.080 And I'm proud to be in Canada, where at least I can be free.
00:44:24.820 And I won't forget the man who died who gave the crime to me.
00:44:31.560 And I quietly stand out next to you and defend her still today.
00:44:38.480 Because of life's distance for freedom, and they won't take that away.
00:45:08.460 But you know how to spot, but they won't take that away.
00:45:14.760 And it's midnight in a few minutes, and I'll just wait for it.
00:45:18.420 Geee-wee-
00:45:34.700 Hi guys, if you like me bringing you the other side of the story, please go to convoyreports.com
00:46:02.260 and fund my journalism. As you know, I'm going to follow the convoy all the way from Calgary to
00:46:08.020 Ottawa. That's going to be a week-long journey. And then of course, I'm going to drive all the way
00:46:13.320 back. That adds up about 7,000 kilometers. That's a lot of gas money. Plus, I had to rent this car
00:46:20.800 because the weather, you'll never know. You need a big car. Please go to convoyreports.com
00:46:27.240 to fund our journalism so we can continue to bring you the other side of the story. Thank you.
00:46:57.240 Thank you.
