00:00:00.080 Hello, my friends. Today, a bit of a different twist on The Ezra LeVant Show.
00:00:04.140 I'm going to read your viewer mail. I'm just going to sit there with a big bag of mail
00:00:07.500 and read your questions and your letters to me and give you my answers until you're sick of it.
00:00:12.940 So that's what's going on today.
00:00:15.020 You can get the video version of this where you will see me in a slightly silly Santa hat
00:00:18.700 by going to rebelnewsplus.com.
00:00:22.000 Click subscribe. It's eight bucks a month.
00:00:23.680 And sometimes it's even more interesting than just seeing me in a Santa hat.
00:00:27.360 We have lots of video. That's our primary medium.
00:00:30.580 Eight bucks a month. And, you know, we need it because we don't get any money from the government.
00:00:34.980 We rely on viewers like you.
00:00:37.280 All right. Here's today's show.
00:00:43.240 You're listening to our podcast.
00:00:45.180 Tonight, I read your letters to Santa, or letters to Ezra, that is.
00:00:57.940 It's December 23rd, and this is The Ezra LeVant Show.
00:01:00.560 You're fighting for freedom.
00:01:03.800 Shame on you, you sensorism bug.
00:01:06.940 Hi, everybody. It's a tradition that we've done before.
00:01:18.920 I think it's fun.
00:01:20.340 I put out the call for questions about anything, literally anything,
00:01:24.040 whether it's world affairs or personal things.
00:01:27.360 I have not looked at them, but we have an entire bag full of letters.
00:01:31.920 There's got to be, there's got to be a hundred of them here.
00:01:35.100 I'm not going to read them all, but I really will pick them out randomly and just read them.
00:01:40.140 Just a little bit of fun.
00:01:41.740 Here we go. Letter number one from Ruth Gray.
00:01:45.100 Thank you from the UK for all you do to expose the woke madness taking over our world.
00:01:48.740 Especially appreciate Callum's reports.
00:01:50.980 Our GB News broadcasts here are a lone voice standing up for ordinary people.
00:01:54.480 Ruth Gray.
00:01:55.080 Ruth, you're right.
00:01:55.720 I deeply admire GB News.
00:01:57.940 I think it's actually, by some measures, more interesting and even tougher than Fox News is in America.
00:02:04.500 And I know they're following some of the same model.
00:02:06.340 I deeply admire Neil Oliver, who's such a brilliant commentator.
00:02:10.860 Calvin Robinson.
00:02:12.300 So that's GB News.
00:02:13.480 It's one of my favorite news networks in the world.
00:02:15.820 And thanks for your shout out to Callum Smiles, who is doing journalism for us in the UK
00:02:20.460 and has done important work on the migrant crisis over there.
00:02:22.920 So nice that you're watching over there.
00:02:24.520 Let's keep going with the letters.
00:02:25.880 I'm having fun already.
00:02:26.700 That's a nice one to start off with.
00:02:28.580 Thank you all for the opportunity to ask a question.
00:02:30.820 My question is twofold and I would like to know how your two reporters, both David Manzies and Alexa LeVoy,
00:02:35.400 are doing after being beaten up by Trudeau's personal RCMP squad and Alexa being harmed by the RCMP in Ottawa.
00:02:41.520 Remember, in the Emergencies Act inquiry, it was stated that no one was injured during that time.
00:02:45.140 Another lie.
00:02:46.140 Candace Serra was trampled by a horse and Alexa was shot.
00:02:49.560 What is the status of both lawsuits filed against the officers involved?
00:02:52.880 George Whitehurst.
00:02:54.140 Thank you very much for that question.
00:02:57.460 George, in fact, just last week, Alexa and I had a meeting with the lawyers.
00:03:02.860 The case is proceeding.
00:03:04.100 Both sides have undergone questioning calls or depositions or an examination for discovery, it's sometimes called.
00:03:11.080 And we're now doing what's called undertakings.
00:03:14.940 Both sides have to provide some more documents to the other.
00:03:17.760 And then we're going to set it down for trial.
00:03:20.580 The courts move very slowly.
00:03:22.600 There is a chance the trial will be in 2023, but it actually might be in 2024, which is so slow.
00:03:28.860 The gears of justice move slowly.
00:03:30.640 That's on Alexa's side.
00:03:32.960 And it's fresh on my mind because I just had a meeting with the lawyers with Alexa last week.
00:03:37.220 I would have to inquire into the state of David's lawsuit.
00:03:42.060 Just absolutely abominable what they did to him.
00:03:44.840 Just absolutely egregious.
00:03:46.500 That lawsuit is proceeding.
00:03:48.540 I just don't know offhand its timing.
00:03:51.400 Let's keep going through the letters.
00:03:53.040 Is Jeremy Lafredo safely back in Canada from Russia?
00:03:55.320 I have just prayed for him.
00:03:56.500 Florence.
00:03:57.240 You know, Florence, thank you for that.
00:03:58.420 I want to tell you something that a decision we made before we sent him that we kept secret until now.
00:04:05.040 And that is, we made a decision that we would take the artistic license of waiting until he was out before publishing his first video.
00:04:16.640 So we sort of shifted time by a few days.
00:04:19.020 So he went in, recorded his videos, sent us the video files, and it was only after he was safely out of the country that we started to put them up.
00:04:27.140 So we created a slight illusion that he was still there, but we didn't want him to actually be there when video number one went up because we were worried that perhaps the police or some other force would track him down.
00:04:41.000 So there was a, nothing changed substantively in the stories.
00:04:44.440 It was just a bit of a license that we took with the timing to ensure his protection.
00:04:48.500 We also, as you know, hired a Russian criminal lawyer just in case, God forbid.
00:04:52.720 So we did that, and there were about one or two other moves we did just to keep him safe.
00:04:56.780 And I hope you agree with him.
00:04:58.220 What do conservatives think of central bank digital currency?
00:05:01.000 Will they be implementing it in Canada if they come to power in the next elections?
00:05:04.740 Vicrent Aurora.
00:05:06.240 Well, Vic, my point of view is that, you know, having the government involved in a digital currency like government Bitcoin would be terrible because it would defeat one of the main purposes of cryptocurrency, which is privacy and freedom.
00:05:22.080 And I would be worried about two things with a central bank digital currency.
00:05:25.160 Number one, they would know every, they would know where every drop of your money was.
00:05:30.520 They would know who you're buying from, who gave you money.
00:05:33.980 They could track you in ways that would be impossible with cash or even with private cryptocurrency.
00:05:39.380 The second thing is the ability just to turn off your money, just like they could turn off your cell phone, let's say, or turn off your Tesla.
00:05:49.140 Imagine if they could literally track your money and turn it off.
00:05:52.440 No central bank digital currency for me, please.
00:05:54.840 Next letter.
00:05:55.980 Hi, Ezra.
00:05:56.560 Loving Rebel News.
00:05:57.360 Is there anything in the works to get a sit-down interview with Elon Musk?
00:06:00.440 A half hour, even better an hour, session with Elon would be very edifying and illuminating.
00:06:04.600 Many thanks.
00:06:05.460 Thane Poor.
00:06:06.180 Well, that's a great idea.
00:06:08.060 He really is one of the most interesting men in the world.
00:06:10.060 He's obviously one of the richest men in the world.
00:06:12.520 He is an innovator.
00:06:14.020 He's brilliant.
00:06:14.940 And I think he is making a real difference for free speech.
00:06:18.120 I wouldn't know even how to get in touch with him, but two of our rebel journalists on Twitter regularly banter with him in public.
00:06:29.800 It's quite remarkable to see.
00:06:31.420 One is our friend Avi Yamini.
00:06:33.460 And Avi and Elon Musk go back and forth sometimes.
00:06:35.880 It's amazing.
00:06:36.780 But mainly Ian Miles Chong, who largely does written work for us.
00:06:41.400 I think he talks to Elon Musk every day.
00:06:43.320 Now, it's not a private conversation.
00:06:44.780 It's out and open on Twitter.
00:06:46.080 They sort of click.
00:06:48.680 It would be an amazing get for us to talk with them.
00:06:51.320 And maybe it will happen one day.
00:06:53.520 All right, let's keep going with these letters.
00:06:55.140 I got a whole bag of them.
00:06:56.340 I got to go through them.
00:06:58.560 Okay, this is a long one.
00:07:00.580 My question is, why is the Conservative Party silent on all the obvious misuse of power that liberals have done to our country?
00:07:05.800 Not only on the convoy, but the mistreatment of veterans, aboriginals, to say nothing of the flagrant misuse of taxpayer funds.
00:07:11.060 I could go on, but you get what I mean.
00:07:12.980 Billions of dollars for foreign countries, but very little for the vets.
00:07:15.500 The homeless and others in need.
00:07:17.320 Are they the opposition or are they not?
00:07:19.020 They owe it to Canadians to voice their opinion, assuming they have one.
00:07:22.820 I think we are living in communist Canada.
00:07:25.100 At the very least, a piece you should call Trudeau and lose your deputy PM on their association with Klaus Schwab and the World Economic Forum.
00:07:31.960 Thanks to you and your reporters for their patriotism and outstanding journalism.
00:07:36.480 Signed, John McInnes.
00:07:38.140 Thanks, John.
00:07:38.860 By the way, I am headed personally to the World Economic Forum in Davos, along with Aviamini and Sheila Gunn-Reed.
00:07:45.800 So we're going to do some journalism on that.
00:07:47.480 I think that if the conservative opposition were here, if Pierre Polyev would here, he would say he is taking on certainly some of those issues.
00:07:55.580 I think, and he can say credibly that he is a strong critic on finance.
00:08:00.720 I mean, that was his portfolio for quite a while.
00:08:05.380 I haven't heard a lot from Pierre Polyev on aboriginal issues, and I don't think he's weighed into the World Economic Forum matter much.
00:08:13.460 I think there is a place for a conservative leader to talk about national sovereignty as opposed to globalism, to talk about local democracy rather than oligarchs running the world.
00:08:26.640 If I had to guess, it would be that Pierre Polyev doesn't want to be branded a conspiracy theorist.
00:08:31.640 When Danielle Smith said that she didn't want her MLAs going to the World Economic Forum anymore, she was denounced by the media,
00:08:39.120 even though, really, she just said, look, I don't like the fact that Klaus Schwab is bragging about controlling governments.
00:08:44.200 That's not someone we want involved with.
00:08:45.880 So I think the media is so insane on those issues that maybe why Pierre Polyev doesn't engage more.
00:08:52.180 Another good letter here, measuring by size.
00:08:55.840 I've been reading your newsletters for some time and have yet to see examples of any alt-right, far-right, or neo-fascist views that Wikipedia attributed to Rebel News.
00:09:04.100 My wish would be for you and your staff to do an article or feature on how name-calling has come to be a kind of gaslighting change.
00:09:09.120 Consider a creative way to put those criticisms out there, topic by topic, as in listing words you used and the hysterical reaction critics deployed.
00:09:16.740 What exactly was anti-Muslim?
00:09:18.300 Why are critics reacting so emotionally?
00:09:20.320 What evidence would you select so as to encourage readers to review and decide for themselves?
00:09:24.360 Many of us are tired of the name-calling that needs sunlight.
00:09:26.860 Best to you, Marianne Van Hooten.
00:09:28.960 Well, thank you, Marianne.
00:09:30.160 And I think Wikipedia has been colonized by leftist activists.
00:09:35.200 Wikipedia, for those who, I mean, everyone knows what Wikipedia is, right?
00:09:37.860 It's one of the world's most popular websites.
00:09:39.840 It's an everything dictionary that anyone can edit.
00:09:44.120 So if you have a particular hobby or an interest, you can fill in details about the things you care about.
00:09:49.680 And it's crowd sourcing as opposed to crowd funding.
00:09:53.220 Trouble is, whereas you and I might think, oh, I know something about model trains or I know something about Banff.
00:09:59.620 There are people who are paid professional activists, literally get paid to do nothing but go into Wikipedia pages on political things and tilt them to the left.
00:10:11.420 Like, imagine having access to the world's largest, you know, research tool and being able to tweak the answers.
00:10:19.200 It's amazing.
00:10:19.760 So the left has colonized Wikipedia.
00:10:22.300 It's very hard to deal with.
00:10:24.340 As to your suggestions, well, I think every day we live by example.
00:10:28.960 We say and do things that we think we can stand by.
00:10:32.820 And, you know, it is true that if people's first impression of us is Wikipedia, they're going to get that leftist stuff.
00:10:39.160 Leftist stuff, but I hold on to the fact that hundreds of millions of people actually see our real work so they can judge for themselves.
00:10:47.080 Next letter.
00:10:48.120 Hello and thank you to the whole Rebel team for your service.
00:10:50.340 I've wondered a few times, how did everyone on the team get to travel the world reporting on the truth with all the vaccine mandates?
00:10:55.140 Assuming the majority of the Rebel News staff are unvaccinated.
00:10:57.660 Thank you again.
00:10:58.220 The efforts from the whole team do not go unnoticed.
00:11:00.520 Genevieve Press.
00:11:01.800 Well, the answer is during the no flying for unjabbed people, we did not fly.
00:11:08.600 Now, some of, you know, I mean, some of our staff are jabbed.
00:11:12.060 I would say most of our staff are not.
00:11:14.020 I'm not jabbed myself.
00:11:15.320 So for a great period of time, we simply did not fly.
00:11:18.280 We drove a little bit, but frankly, I stayed very close to home base here.
00:11:24.140 We have only been flying in the last few months since Trudeau ended the flight ban.
00:11:30.280 So it was only after that flight ban was lifted that we sent Alexa Lavoie, Drea Humphrey, and Tamera Ugolini to the World Health Summit in Berlin.
00:11:38.600 It was only after that that we sent people to Moscow, that we sent people, like, again, some of our people are vaxxed, some are not.
00:11:46.600 But we really didn't do any traveling during the flight ban.
00:11:49.380 Now the flight ban is lifted except for in America.
00:11:51.860 I have not been in America in three years because Joe Biden still has a ban on unvaccinated people.
00:11:57.020 But we never imposed a vaccine mandate here.
00:12:00.140 Obviously not.
00:12:01.020 We just let people choose and we didn't really raise the issue.
00:12:03.880 I mean, people made whatever choice was best for them.
00:12:08.520 Oh, that's the same one in my hand.
00:12:11.280 I got to get through a lot of these letters.
00:12:13.660 Let me speed up.
00:12:14.780 Ezra, there's no one more deserving the Order of Canada than yourself.
00:12:18.400 No one has stood more courageously against political and media corruption.
00:12:21.360 However, it is clear that you and Rebel are blacklisting Premier Smith, an individual who may become the most important politician in our country's history.
00:12:29.740 The greatest defender of the Canadian people, civil rights, and liberties.
00:12:33.020 Merry Christmas, Ezra.
00:12:34.260 Signed, Ian Foltz.
00:12:35.080 Well, Ian, you obviously wrote this before my 33-minute sit-down with Danielle Smith this week, in which I think I asked very fair and interesting questions, and she gave her answers freely.
00:12:48.360 So I think my work speaks for itself.
00:12:50.920 Next letter from Zoltan.
00:12:52.820 Hello, Ezra.
00:12:53.660 I'm dual Canadian-EU citizen, and in the last year I have been spending more time in Europe than Canada.
00:12:58.120 It's quite possible I could make a more permanent move here or move from B.C. to Alberta, depending on future provincial federal elections.
00:13:03.620 While here in Europe and even back in Canada, I find I am watching more of GB News, especially Nigel Farage, Mark Stein, and Neil Oliver on their YouTube feeds.
00:13:11.080 I know your shows are behind paywalls and bits and pieces on YouTube.
00:13:14.000 Will Rebel News in the future follow this type of structure of having a live feed all day with daily hosts?
00:13:18.980 Thank you for calling out the hypocrites and the progressive left.
00:13:21.520 Zoltan.
00:13:22.260 Now, Zoltan, I know a little bit about GB News.
00:13:25.000 And one thing I know about it is that they have millions and millions and millions of dollars from corporate investors.
00:13:32.180 We do not.
00:13:33.620 If we did, we would probably look a little more like them.
00:13:37.060 We would have around-the-clock production.
00:13:39.120 We would be a little fancy like them.
00:13:42.080 Alas, we have our crowdfunding, but it is not 20 million bucks a year like they have.
00:13:48.440 Next letter.
00:13:49.140 The Public Order Emergency Commission in Canada, overseen by Paul Rouleau.
00:13:52.580 The report is scheduled to be released in February 2023.
00:13:54.820 Do you think Paul Rouleau oversaw and allowed for a balanced and fair submission of facts?
00:14:00.040 Do you think justice will be served, or all those involved as corrupt as Trudeau?
00:14:03.540 Anna Lewis.
00:14:05.820 I'll tell you honestly, Anna, and maybe this just shows that I'm naive, but I think the judge did a fairly good job.
00:14:11.260 I can only imagine him being pulled in different directions from the government, from the interveners, from the witnesses, from the amount of time he had, from the mandate he had.
00:14:21.280 He had a very compressed time period.
00:14:23.020 He worked often six days a week, very long hours.
00:14:27.360 He didn't rule always in favor of our freedom-oriented friends there, but you know what?
00:14:33.260 I think he was pretty fair.
00:14:35.020 What I'm worried about is actually him finding against Trudeau, and the whole country shrugging, and the media party saying,
00:14:41.280 Oh yeah, so what? That's old news. That's what I'm worried about.
00:14:43.540 Just like they did when Trudeau was convicted so many times of violating the Conflict of Interest Act.
00:14:47.940 Next letter.
00:14:49.040 I love Rebel News and was riveted to the convoy coverage.
00:14:51.740 Thank you so much for being on the ground.
00:14:52.920 Question. Is it against the rules for Trudeau and Freeland to belong to the World Economic Forum or other political organizations?
00:14:58.060 I keep reading that it is not allowed.
00:15:00.160 Have a wonderful holiday and New Year, Joanne Fox.
00:15:03.140 Joanne, it is not against the law, but I find it very confusing.
00:15:09.500 How could Chrystia Freeland be on the Board of Governors of the World Economic Forum,
00:15:14.680 and also to which she owes a loyalty and a duty of care and a fiduciary responsibility and confidentiality?
00:15:21.040 How could she do that, but then have the same loyalty to Canada as a member of cabinet?
00:15:26.360 You cannot ride two horses.
00:15:28.500 And Theresa Tam was in the same pickle when she was on a certain committee on the UN's World Health Organization,
00:15:37.060 at the same time of being Canada's public health officer.
00:15:40.120 You cannot do both.
00:15:41.720 Because in that case, she chose loyalty to the UN over Canada.
00:15:46.440 That's why we started the petition for Tam to resign.
00:15:50.180 I mean, there are many reasons, but how can you serve Dr. Tedros' World Health Organization and Canada?
00:15:56.980 You have to choose.
00:15:57.620 And our next letter, Ezra Rebel has been a lifeline to me.
00:16:02.900 None of us ever thought Canada would become a totalitarian state in our lifetime.
00:16:06.120 You and your excellent team have been with us all the way, informing and fighting our rights.
00:16:09.940 May God bless you and continue to be courageous in this war.
00:16:12.640 My question is, have we been getting a substantial amount of money
00:16:15.160 that you can hire more reporters, do a makeover of the Ezra LeBant Show, etc.?
00:16:18.680 I hope so, as I want Rebel to expand and expose the corruption by the globalists.
00:16:22.900 A Merry Christmas to all.
00:16:24.400 Muriel Clark.
00:16:25.380 Well, Muriel, as you know, we did expand.
00:16:29.660 We doubled our size during the pandemic.
00:16:32.260 And that did come from crowdfunding donations.
00:16:35.620 Trouble is, the intensity of support has obviously declined
00:16:39.540 since the pandemic and the lockdowns has largely receded.
00:16:43.640 So, it's actually more difficult now because where before we had sort of a steady state of 25 staff,
00:16:49.220 we've got around 50 now.
00:16:50.780 And that was wonderful in February, March when donations were very intensive.
00:16:57.940 But now, people are sort of, you know, the crisis has passed.
00:17:01.300 So, actually, it's a little tougher now.
00:17:02.900 And there's not a single person in the company I want to let go.
00:17:05.440 We've just met so many amazing reporters.
00:17:06.960 So, we actually have to work harder to sustain the size of our company.
00:17:12.360 Next letter.
00:17:13.240 Is Justin Trudeau a self-appointed totalitarian dictator?
00:17:16.660 What do all dictators have in common?
00:17:18.200 They do not seek the approval of the people.
00:17:19.700 They do not respect nor fear elections because they rig them.
00:17:22.840 Justin Trudeau is positioning for another snap election.
00:17:25.380 Do you feel confident in Canada's federal electoral system integrity that we will get a free and fair election result?
00:17:30.600 Glenn Gautreau.
00:17:33.300 Well, Glenn, believe it or not, I think our elections are generally stronger than American elections.
00:17:39.680 I don't know if you followed this insanity out of Arizona where they were literally counting ballots two weeks later.
00:17:45.180 And the ballots were moved from here to there and here to there.
00:17:48.340 And they're transported, trucked, and stored.
00:17:50.560 Craziness.
00:17:52.160 Some parts of the U.S., they also use digital voting machines.
00:17:55.960 How is that not susceptible to tampering?
00:17:58.020 I like the old pencil and paper approach, and that is how most, I think that's how federal elections are done in Canada.
00:18:04.840 Now, we have very weak voter ID rules.
00:18:07.760 But again, in the U.S., you can vote by mail.
00:18:10.580 So, I think that America has a severe voting problem, voting integrity problem.
00:18:15.740 I think that's a fact.
00:18:16.800 Dear Ezra, the Christmas letter show last year was so entertaining.
00:18:19.380 Thank you for doing it again.
00:18:20.720 My question is, what is your favorite restaurant in Toronto?
00:18:23.460 P.S., I've been reading your article since my university days in the 90s.
00:18:26.360 Thank you for creating Rebel News.
00:18:27.940 You and your team are fearless and genuine.
00:18:29.960 Cheers to all of you.
00:18:31.040 Lisa from Toronto.
00:18:33.900 Well, you know I'm a snacker just from looking at me.
00:18:38.440 There's a breakfast restaurant called Pure and Simple that I just think is really fresh food.
00:18:43.600 And I'm trying to be a little healthier.
00:18:45.660 So, that's sort of my favorite breakfast place.
00:18:47.360 And I can't remember the name.
00:18:50.620 There's a Vietnamese place called Ping Nong Thai or something.
00:18:55.280 I got that right.
00:18:56.500 It's just an occasionally order little chicken salad rolls from there.
00:19:00.020 So, I'm obviously a snacker.
00:19:02.480 I mean, just look at me.
00:19:03.720 And one thing Toronto has is some good restaurants.
00:19:05.960 And there's also Bagel World on Avenue Road.
00:19:11.720 Let's say no more.
00:19:13.460 Let me say one thing about Bagel World.
00:19:16.040 Or was it Bagel House?
00:19:17.400 Or Bagel Inferno?
00:19:18.440 Or was it Bagel Barn?
00:19:19.860 Or Bagel Dump?
00:19:21.300 There's a bagel restaurant on Avenue Road.
00:19:23.300 And they did not require...
00:19:26.360 And during the lockdowns, they never asked me to put on a mask.
00:19:30.240 They never once asked me for a vaccine passport.
00:19:32.740 I'm sorry, I forgot.
00:19:33.500 It's a bagel restaurant on Avenue.
00:19:34.860 I just know where it is.
00:19:35.980 And I always go there with gratitude.
00:19:38.060 Because they did not treat me like a criminal.
00:19:41.580 When I obviously didn't have a vaccine passport.
00:19:44.460 And I wouldn't wear a mask.
00:19:45.880 So, that's a serious answer to a good question.
00:19:48.520 And they're great bagels.
00:19:49.600 Montreal's job.
00:19:51.520 I respect and appreciate your work.
00:19:52.940 But I struggle with the word rebel.
00:19:55.000 I can't seem to relate any positive connotation to it.
00:19:58.060 Why rebel news?
00:19:59.260 Why not change it to something more palatable?
00:20:01.580 Paul Zielinski.
00:20:04.660 Paul, I have been taking versions of your letter for almost eight years.
00:20:09.200 You know, we'll turn eight years old in February.
00:20:11.300 Some people say,
00:20:12.880 Rebel, are you a supporter of the Confederacy in the United States Civil War?
00:20:18.580 Because they call themselves rebels.
00:20:20.620 Some people say,
00:20:21.720 Lucifer rebelled.
00:20:24.320 Are you against God?
00:20:27.900 Is that the rebellion you mean?
00:20:31.220 I frankly never even thought of those for a second.
00:20:34.320 When I came up with the name Rebel News.
00:20:36.260 I'll tell you exactly what I thought.
00:20:37.380 I thought we are rebelling against the ideological conformity of the media party.
00:20:44.060 We are rebelling against the government regulation of traditional radio and TV.
00:20:48.440 And we're rebelling against the technology and the high cost structure of traditional TV.
00:20:55.220 When I was at Sun News, I had a million dollar studio, a million bucks.
00:20:59.540 The TV cameras were over $100,000 each.
00:21:02.600 There were four producers on my show, five people in the control room.
00:21:08.920 When we would interview someone, it would be by a satellite feed, 400 bucks a pop.
00:21:12.740 We were rebelling against that.
00:21:16.340 Now we do things by Skype, on cell phone cameras, in a simple, modest studio or on the street.
00:21:22.180 So the rebellion was against the ideology of the mainstream media, the censorship and regulation of the government,
00:21:29.580 and the technology, the high cost barrier to entry technology.
00:21:33.440 That's what I meant by rebel.
00:21:34.920 And I understand what you're saying because rebellion, oh, we want harmony, not rebellion.
00:21:40.180 Well, I have to tell you, the conformity of the lockdown,
00:21:44.580 I think it was very appropriate for us to be called rebels because we were rebelling against the madness of the world.
00:21:54.200 That's my answer.
00:21:56.240 Next letter.
00:21:56.860 Since 2019, I, an American, have been following rebel news and was curious to see how you view Trump,
00:22:01.400 who is running in 2024, having dinner with a known white supremacist and, yay, an anti-Semite.
00:22:06.220 Personally, I don't want him back in the White House for this very reason.
00:22:08.520 Thank you.
00:22:09.180 Adam Fernandez.
00:22:10.340 Well, you know, rebel news was started in 2015.
00:22:12.980 And other than Conrad Black, we were the only media company in Canada to support Trump in the nomination for the presidential primary and as candidate.
00:22:23.280 And we were thrilled when he won in 2016 and took on the establishment.
00:22:28.760 And our Christmas party in 2016 was just a few weeks after he won the election.
00:22:33.560 And it was when they still had Trump Tower, the Trump Hotel, rather, in Toronto.
00:22:38.160 And that's where we had our Christmas party just as a theme.
00:22:41.000 And I think he was a pretty good president.
00:22:43.720 I'm not thrilled with him now.
00:22:45.260 Now, him having dinner with Kanye West and a racist called Nick Fuentes, I believed Trump when he said he'd never heard of Nick Fuentes.
00:22:51.400 Nick Fuentes is someone of very little accomplishment.
00:22:54.260 He's just a kid with a racist YouTube channel.
00:22:57.420 I think Trump meeting Kanye was probably fine.
00:23:00.480 They had met before.
00:23:01.320 They were sort of friends.
00:23:02.420 Maybe Trump thought Kanye was going to say something interesting or useful to him.
00:23:06.760 So I certainly don't hold that against Trump.
00:23:10.680 Trump meets with almost anybody.
00:23:12.520 And I don't think he knew what Kanye West was planning there.
00:23:17.060 I'm less thrilled about Trump's obsession with relitigating the 2020 election.
00:23:21.840 I agree.
00:23:22.820 There was a lot of funny business.
00:23:25.500 And I don't like what happened.
00:23:27.100 And I am very skeptical.
00:23:28.320 And the fact that you're not allowed to question it tells me we have to question it.
00:23:31.920 But I think if you're going to win in 2024, you can't just talk about yourself and I want to do over.
00:23:38.120 Okay, you've got to do over.
00:23:39.320 Now do it over.
00:23:40.080 And that's why when people ask me, who do you like, Ron DeSantis or Donald Trump?
00:23:44.960 Well, I mean, Trump has some amazing qualities, that's for sure.
00:23:48.940 But on the same day that Ron DeSantis announced he was going to go after vaccine companies for misleading people,
00:23:57.300 Donald Trump says he's got a big announcement.
00:23:58.960 And his big announcement is little trading cards, little Trump trading cards.
00:24:02.940 Sorry, that's not a big announcement.
00:24:04.240 That's a gimmicky thing.
00:24:05.940 I mean, it's fun and funny.
00:24:07.220 But I just, listen, of course I wish Trump won in 2020.
00:24:13.260 But I'm not sure if 2024 is his time again.
00:24:17.080 We'll see.
00:24:18.120 We'll see.
00:24:19.960 I'm not an American.
00:24:21.400 So I'm not a member of the Republicans and I have no say.
00:24:23.800 I'm just an observer from up north.
00:24:27.200 Glendon Moore says, I have followed Rebel News journalism for a number of years.
00:24:30.920 However, I cannot agree with your protection of the so-called freedom organizers or participants
00:24:34.760 who illegally congested the Ottawa streets or any others who blocked or restricted the flow of goods to and from the USA.
00:24:40.920 If I over parked in Ottawa, I would be fine immediately.
00:24:43.660 Yet these protesters were allowed to block the streets with their trucks for close to three weeks.
00:24:48.220 Where is there any common sense in all that?
00:24:50.420 Well, I was there for a few days.
00:24:51.840 And of course, our team was there continuously.
00:24:53.200 And my first point to you would be, the trucks did not actually block the streets.
00:24:59.260 Now, you might be saying, what are you talking about?
00:25:00.720 I saw them.
00:25:01.300 Well, no.
00:25:02.380 I was there.
00:25:03.740 The trucks always left a free lane.
00:25:07.320 The truckers left a free lane on all the roads for emergency vehicles and for police.
00:25:11.360 Did you know that?
00:25:11.940 Now, what I personally experienced, this is a personal firsthand experience.
00:25:16.220 I was at a hotel in downtown Ottawa and it was late and I hadn't had dinner, so I ordered some dinner delivered.
00:25:23.480 The police were blocking the streets.
00:25:26.880 And I know that because I had to go and walk to a blockade to meet my delivery guy.
00:25:31.640 The truckers did not block.
00:25:32.600 And to this day, the police are blocking the streets there.
00:25:35.380 So that's fact number one.
00:25:36.200 Fact number two, it is tough when you do civil disobedience, non-violent civil disobedience like blocking the street.
00:25:45.640 It's tough.
00:25:46.360 Absolutely.
00:25:47.340 And I think part of that is you accept that you're going to go to trial and fight it and do your best to fight it.
00:25:54.280 But if you're convicted, you do the time.
00:25:57.140 But I think, and this is why we helped start the Fight the Fines Project.
00:26:00.980 I always said, if Omar Khadr deserves a free lawyer, surely Omar Khadr, by the way, an accused and convicted and confessed Al-Qaeda terrorist and murderer.
00:26:17.920 If an Al-Qaeda terrorist like Omar Khadr gets a free lawyer, surely a trucker should get a free lawyer.
00:26:24.440 That's my point of view.
00:26:25.920 Next letter.
00:26:26.760 Hello, Ezra.
00:26:28.880 Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.
00:26:30.000 You are one of the few bright spots that I see in this dark place of divisiveness in Canada.
00:26:33.960 I am an immigrant, a Sikh man from India, and have lived in Canada for 12 years.
00:26:38.140 Even in my brief stay here, Canada has changed a lot and for worse.
00:26:41.080 I see rebels' work having an impact for good, and hopefully we can turn the tide.
00:26:44.460 Somehow I see good changes take place of lately.
00:26:46.920 Kudos to you, Tarath Baines.
00:26:48.820 Well, thanks very much.
00:26:50.400 And I've gotten to know Sikh Canadians more over the last year.
00:26:53.980 I mean, I grew up in Alberta, and there was a Sikh temple near where I grew up.
00:26:59.220 I mean, I'm talking 50 years ago now.
00:27:01.380 And so I've been very attentive to the Sikh community, their role in the British Empire and in the Army,
00:27:11.240 and of course, Queen Victoria's most trusted aide, a Sikh man.
00:27:14.240 And I've become friends with freedom-oriented Sikhs in Canada, who I really got to know during the trucker convoy.
00:27:22.580 So I'm still learning about Sikhism.
00:27:26.820 And so I would call myself a beginner on the subject, but I've enjoyed the process.
00:27:34.280 So thank you very much for mentioning that.
00:27:35.880 And I'm glad that you care so much.
00:27:38.880 I'm glad that you care about freedom.
00:27:41.700 Short letter.
00:27:43.120 Really missing all the regular shows in the morning and the regular rebels reporting daily.
00:27:46.880 What's happened to that?
00:27:48.480 We used to have a 12 noon live stream.
00:27:52.140 But then 12 noon Eastern, so maybe if you're in the West, that's what you mean by the morning,
00:27:56.880 because that would be 10 a.m. Mountain.
00:27:57.820 We moved to a later live stream when we had the Trucker Commission of Inquiry.
00:28:06.540 And now it's the new year.
00:28:07.980 But I think we're going to get back to a noon hour live stream in 2023.
00:28:11.860 And I hope to do more of that myself.
00:28:13.740 You know what?
00:28:14.080 We had a staff meeting about it to figure out what we're going to do.
00:28:18.140 I would like to do more TV.
00:28:20.500 I used to love doing the live stream.
00:28:21.800 During the beginning of the pandemic, I did a live stream for an hour every day in addition to my show at night.
00:28:25.660 I just got so busy when the company doubled in size, when we hired like 10 new reporters,
00:28:31.160 there's a lot of work to do that wasn't journalism.
00:28:33.140 I sort of miss being able to talk for an hour a day at lunch.
00:28:37.540 Next letter.
00:28:38.380 Ansra, I am also a graduate of the Dr. Bob Schultz School of Events Management.
00:28:42.400 That was one of my professors at University of Calgary.
00:28:45.180 My question is, is there no constitutionally legitimate way to halt the tenure of the evil coalition formed between the liberals and NDP?
00:28:51.320 I am very concerned that the country may not be able to survive even days more of this anarchistic government.
00:28:58.060 Somehow Canadians have been duped out of being a democratic nation.
00:29:01.520 David Hughes.
00:29:03.280 Well, that's the nature of a parliamentary democracy, is that you can have coalitions and factions.
00:29:10.160 And as you know, we do not elect a prime minister directly like the Americans elect their president directly.
00:29:15.940 But in Canada, as you know, typically the party with the most MPs, their leader becomes PM.
00:29:24.820 But there could be a coalition government.
00:29:26.240 We have a form of a coalition government.
00:29:28.460 And that's just how our system works.
00:29:31.200 And I don't like it any more than you do when it comes to Jagmeet Singh backing up Justin Trudeau.
00:29:38.400 But that's how it is.
00:29:39.700 You know, I mean, that's our system.
00:29:42.760 Next letter.
00:29:43.360 Hello, Ezra.
00:29:44.040 I just want to thank you and everyone at Rebel News.
00:29:45.860 I'm a public high school teacher in BC, and your media is a perfect antidote to the toxic barrage of globalist and leftist propaganda that passes for news and education these days.
00:29:53.800 Your Twitter feed is especially valuable.
00:29:55.780 Thanks for keeping that up.
00:29:56.780 P.S.
00:29:57.000 During the pandemic, Rebel was the voice in the wilderness.
00:29:59.400 Thank you, Mrs. Teacher.
00:30:00.920 That's how she signed it, Mrs. Teacher.
00:30:03.260 You know what?
00:30:03.940 I enjoy Twitter too much.
00:30:05.400 I'm a little addicted to it, and I sort of waste time on it.
00:30:07.560 But it is, I just feel like there's a gazillion things a day I want to weigh in on.
00:30:13.240 And Twitter, it's like a one-liner.
00:30:15.880 Like, you just, very, very brief.
00:30:17.880 And you know, the Rebel Twitter account is doing great.
00:30:20.080 Over 400,000 followers.
00:30:21.780 And some of our individual talent, well over 100,000 followers.
00:30:24.920 If you add it all up, between me and Avi Yamini and Sheila Gunn-Reed and our other talent, well, you know, a few months ago, I added up all our social media following, including YouTube, where we have 1.5 million.
00:30:36.760 And I think all of our accounts combined were about 5 million.
00:30:41.100 If you add all our company accounts on different platforms, including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and then the different staff, it's about 5 million followers.
00:30:49.760 That's pretty good, don't you think?
00:30:50.900 Hi, Ezra.
00:30:53.200 This might be a bit late, but after seeing several of your people on Fox News, I was wondering if something was in the works to share more coverage for conservative news on both channels.
00:31:00.680 You may have state-run media, but we have media corporations that are actually throne-sniffers for liberals.
00:31:06.100 What does the future look like for you?
00:31:07.940 I think both of our nations are good people being hectored by tyrannical governance.
00:31:11.220 Honk, honk.
00:31:12.180 Jerry Purvis in the heart of the American flyover country.
00:31:14.720 Well, Jerry, it's great to hear from you, and I love when I get viewers from the U.K. or the U.S. or even from down under.
00:31:20.940 I think I might have mentioned to you that when I went to Melbourne for Avi's wedding, I just get out of the cab, and I'm looking for my Airbnb, and I walk into a bar and say, where's this?
00:31:30.520 And the bartender says, are you with Rebel News?
00:31:32.800 And I couldn't believe it.
00:31:33.760 I love the fact that we have a global footprint.
00:31:36.360 Let me just see what you asked again.
00:31:37.960 Oh, you talked about the fact that Rebels were on Fox.
00:31:42.160 Now, that's just Tucker Carlson and Laura Ingram and their producers calling us up and saying, hey, we liked your story.
00:31:47.640 Do you want to come talk about it?
00:31:48.740 So we don't get paid for that.
00:31:50.740 It takes up our time.
00:31:52.640 They often want us to go to a studio for it.
00:31:55.140 But I think it's just, you know what I like about it?
00:31:57.620 First of all, a huge audience.
00:31:58.920 Like, you go on Tucker, you got four or five million views, which is amazing.
00:32:02.320 I go on, I don't go on that often, but every few months I go on, and it's live.
00:32:07.520 So it's very exciting.
00:32:08.880 And as soon as I get off, my phone goes, blam, blam, blam, because I got so many people phony and texting.
00:32:13.700 Because when you talk to five million people around the condom, you have no idea what old friend is going to see that.
00:32:20.780 So it was wonderful.
00:32:22.180 So I like the fact that it's a huge audience, but I like its validation from the top name and news.
00:32:26.960 So I really like that.
00:32:28.340 I'm just going to read one more letter.
00:32:31.160 But you know what?
00:32:32.080 I really could, I could go on for a while.
00:32:35.300 But I, you know, you probably want a break from my voice.
00:32:37.480 But I'm really enjoying these.
00:32:39.100 I thought there would be some more personal questions.
00:32:40.880 There was that one question about what restaurant I like.
00:32:43.440 And I should probably look up the name of that Thai place and the bagel place.
00:32:47.360 Because I, anyhow, okay.
00:32:49.080 I'll read two more letters.
00:32:50.060 This is the second last one.
00:32:51.840 To Rebel News, my family attended the Tucker and Ezra event over a year ago, just before COVID shut down.
00:32:56.660 The day before, I believe.
00:32:58.000 So glad we did.
00:32:58.800 We were better prepared for the months ahead.
00:33:00.480 I learned the word legacy media from Rebel.
00:33:02.960 It has been years since I've followed anything but National Post or Toronto Sun.
00:33:06.600 But I am overjoyed to be a fan of my favorite Rebel news.
00:33:09.240 Canada is so lucky to have you and slowly more and more non-legacy news sources.
00:33:13.260 Rebel will always be our favorite.
00:33:14.760 Wishing everyone at Rebel News your family's very, very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
00:33:18.820 The Harper family from London, Ontario.
00:33:20.960 Well, thanks very much.
00:33:21.900 And I remember that Tucker Carlson event.
00:33:23.840 It was a year ago, and that was through the Democracy Fund, and he joined us on the big screen in Toronto for what we call the Civil Liberties Town Hall.
00:33:33.820 I was terrified back then, and my thinking was, we need to let the world know.
00:33:39.280 And you might know in that series of Civil Liberties Town Halls, we had a lot of Americans.
00:33:44.140 We had Glenn Beck.
00:33:45.160 We had John Stossel.
00:33:46.460 We had Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
00:33:48.360 And part of the thinking was, we need to get people outside Canada alert to what's happening here,
00:33:54.760 because I didn't think our Canadian institutions were strong enough to resist Trudeau.
00:33:59.300 In the end, I was wrong.
00:34:00.860 The truckers saved us.
00:34:02.940 Last letter.
00:34:04.020 Absolutely.
00:34:04.620 Even though there's more in the bag here.
00:34:05.860 Hi, Ezra.
00:34:07.600 I'm 36-year-old, but have always been interested in journalism.
00:34:11.500 Independent media has really in-released that urge in me again over the last year since our beloved Ottawa Convoy.
00:34:18.540 I don't want to go back to school, but I would be fine with doing an online program if I knew there was a good one.
00:34:23.040 I don't mind traveling a lot, but I also don't want to move to a big city.
00:34:27.060 I guess my question would be whether you knew of a good online program,
00:34:29.800 whether it's possible to do the job of a brave, truth-telling journalist from a small town,
00:34:33.780 and maybe some top tips for being a good journalist.
00:34:36.320 Thanks, Megan McKenzie.
00:34:38.160 Well, what a great letter to end on.
00:34:39.920 Thank you very much, Megan.
00:34:42.040 First of all, I think 36 is a great age.
00:34:45.400 I wish I was 36 instead of half a century.
00:34:49.480 And 36, you have a little bit of seasoning, a little bit of life experience.
00:34:55.780 You've done a few things.
00:34:56.980 You've been in a few places.
00:34:57.940 You had a few bad decisions and a few good decisions, and maybe you're wiser for it.
00:35:02.700 So 36 years old is a great age to do journalism.
00:35:06.840 Now, the problem is almost no journalism pays.
00:35:11.720 You're not going to earn a living at it.
00:35:13.140 So if you need to make money, don't go into journalism.
00:35:17.580 You can do it as a hobby or as a fun thing.
00:35:20.460 So I want to dissuade you from changing careers if you're doing it to earn a living.
00:35:26.680 Seriously, it is not a remunerative pastime.
00:35:30.200 And as you probably know, there's a lot of unemployed journalists.
00:35:32.540 However, that said, if you have the ability to do it that does not require you to get paid,
00:35:41.360 then you can be a journalist right now.
00:35:44.740 Because guess what?
00:35:46.240 That smartphone you have, even a very modest version of it, it's got a camera.
00:35:51.420 It's got a still photo.
00:35:52.660 It's got a video camera.
00:35:54.480 Guess what?
00:35:54.920 You're a TV journalist now.
00:35:56.100 Just put it on a selfie stick and you're in business.
00:35:59.720 Well, where are you going to publish it to?
00:36:01.280 Well, you have a Twitter account, you have a Facebook account, you have an Instagram account.
00:36:05.660 Those are all free.
00:36:06.680 Guess what?
00:36:07.360 You're now a publisher.
00:36:09.440 You can write a blog.
00:36:11.480 And so what I'm saying to you is you have in your pocket the tools to become a journalist
00:36:18.540 and a publisher yourself and an editor.
00:36:22.140 Now you say, what online programs are there?
00:36:25.000 Well, I don't know if I would even recommend an online program about journalism.
00:36:31.500 Now, if you want to learn how to be a bit of a video editor, that's a real skill.
00:36:35.540 If you want to learn sort of do's and don'ts on editing videos and how to use different software
00:36:40.480 apps.
00:36:41.280 Okay.
00:36:41.540 That's a good idea.
00:36:42.320 But I would never say to someone, go to journalism school for a year or two or whatever.
00:36:47.440 Like, what are you going to learn?
00:36:49.500 Can they really teach you to be curious if you're not innately curious?
00:36:53.500 Can they teach you to be skeptical or contrarian if you're not innately skeptical or contrarian?
00:36:57.920 I do not think so.
00:36:59.160 I think those things are inherent.
00:37:01.040 In fact, I think some of them are drummed out of you if you go to journalism school.
00:37:03.700 So, I think, and now your last point is you say you're in the country or a small town.
00:37:09.840 Guess what?
00:37:11.200 Our chief reporter, Sheila Gunn-Reed, lives on a farm about half an hour outside Edmonton.
00:37:17.480 She is not in a big city.
00:37:19.600 And she does outstanding tours.
00:37:21.160 Now, occasionally, she does travel.
00:37:23.360 She's coming with us to Davos, Switzerland, to help report on the World Economic Forum.
00:37:27.580 She has in the past gone to global warming conferences and the UN has had.
00:37:30.520 But every single day from her home, she breaks stories based on access to information requests.
00:37:38.400 She does commentaries on the world.
00:37:40.440 So, being in, again, this is all because of the age of the Internet.
00:37:44.860 What I'm saying here probably would not be true 20 years ago.
00:37:48.920 I mean, I suppose you had talk radio that you could do from many places.
00:37:51.960 But really, whether you're, in fact, some of our people, our boss of social media used to be based in Montreal.
00:38:01.040 He has moved to Florida because of the lockdown.
00:38:03.600 And how would you even know?
00:38:05.200 Because you can post from Instagram or post from Twitter anywhere in the world.
00:38:08.800 So, in conclusion, in closing, if you have natural curiosity about the world,
00:38:14.320 if you have opinions about the way things ought to be,
00:38:17.480 if you are a good thinker and a good communicator,
00:38:21.180 I would not recommend going to journalism school.
00:38:24.320 If anything, I would recommend getting a few technical skills.
00:38:28.200 You could probably get those online and watch some YouTube videos,
00:38:31.180 how to be a video editor, how to use some software apps.
00:38:34.880 And I would start with what you know.
00:38:37.960 What is your area of expertise?
00:38:40.020 You know, and I mentioned Sheila.
00:38:41.600 Well, she's got certain beats, right?
00:38:43.740 She knows firearms.
00:38:45.480 She cares about life issues.
00:38:48.060 She cares about oil and gas.
00:38:49.560 She cares about farming.
00:38:51.480 You know, I have a slightly different portfolio of issues.
00:38:55.740 I love the free speech battles.
00:38:58.100 I'm interested in World Economic Forum stuff.
00:39:00.160 A lot of our people are here.
00:39:01.120 So, if you look at our different talent,
00:39:03.700 they maybe have three, four, five things they'd like to talk about.
00:39:06.080 A beat, right?
00:39:07.260 Now, all of us were focused on the pandemics and the lockdown.
00:39:09.820 It was such a big beat.
00:39:11.180 So, there's a very long answer to a question.
00:39:13.460 But if you're serious about being a journalist,
00:39:15.800 you can start today.
00:39:19.080 And you're not going to get huge votes, huge views day number one.
00:39:22.560 No one did.
00:39:23.120 I didn't.
00:39:24.680 But the thing is, can you do it every day?
00:39:26.380 Look at the word journalism.
00:39:27.600 One of the roots there is jour, which means day.
00:39:31.160 Daily.
00:39:32.040 Can you do it every day?
00:39:33.480 If you do it every day, and then every day, and then every day,
00:39:35.800 and then every day.
00:39:36.540 Okay, now you're building up a rhythm, and people come to know.
00:39:40.220 It's like 7-Eleven.
00:39:41.020 You know it's always open, so you go there.
00:39:43.580 Anyhow, that's a long answer to a short question.
00:39:46.280 My friends, thank you for sending your letters.
00:39:48.760 And I didn't even, look at this.
00:39:50.340 There's still a lot of letters here, but this could go on forever if I don't end it.
00:39:54.540 What a pleasure to be with you.
00:39:55.860 Thank you for your questions.
00:39:56.980 I always think there's going to be more personal questions, and I'm always slightly nervous
00:40:00.980 about them.
00:40:02.760 There wasn't really many personal questions.
00:40:04.560 We'll try again next year.
00:40:05.800 Not that I want to give away any private secrets or anything, but, you know, ask me anything.
00:40:11.840 So I hope you thought my answers were acceptable, and it's nice to hear from people.
00:40:16.380 We heard from people in the UK, heard from people in America, heard from people across
00:40:19.960 Canada, and it was really nice to chat with you.
00:40:23.120 So that's our show for today.
00:40:25.500 I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy Chanukah, and a Happy New Year.
00:40:29.120 We will have shows with feature-length interviews every day over the Christmas break.
00:40:33.400 We pre-recorded great interviews with people like Alex Epstein of Fossil Future, Manny Montaner-Greeno,
00:40:40.040 Harmeet Dillon, who's running for the leadership of the Republican National Committee.
00:40:43.660 We've got some great interviews for you coming up over the Christmas break.
00:40:47.160 I'm going to take my first family vacation out of the country in three years.
00:40:50.720 Looking forward to it.
00:40:51.900 I will be back, and our team will be back refreshed, ready to fight the battles for freedom in 2023.
00:40:59.120 From all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters in the North Pole, or wherever I am with my
00:41:03.840 floppy Santa hat, to you at home, good night, and keep fighting for freedom.
00:41:09.900 We'll be right back, and we'll be right back.
