Summary

Quebec just passed a law requiring a values test for new immigrants, and no one in the media called it racist. What's the difference between a Canadian values test and a test that asks new immigrants if they believe in Canadian values?

00:00:00.000 Hello, my favorite rebels. Today, I take you through a surprise regulation that was simply
00:00:07.600 published by the government of Quebec. You know, that's how you can pass a lot of rules. You don't
00:00:11.400 always have to have a law and debates and a vote. You can pass a lot of rules just by regulation.
00:00:17.280 That's what Quebec did today, requiring a values test for new immigrants. All right, that's
00:00:25.200 interesting. But even more interesting is the response or the lack thereof by the usual
00:00:31.620 suspects. Not one of them called it racist. I'll show you their reactions. Hey, before I do,
00:00:39.040 please consider becoming a premium subscriber. Go to premium.rebelnews.com. It's eight bucks a month.
00:00:45.340 You get the video version of this podcast, plus access to Sheila Gunn-Reed's show and David's
00:00:51.080 Menzies show. And it helps us out. It's only eight bucks a month. All right, here's today's podcast.
00:01:10.920 Tonight, Quebec does what Stephen Harper and Kelly Leach wanted to do, bring in a values test for
00:01:17.420 new immigrants. And the media is fine with it. It's October 30th, and this is the actual event show.
00:01:25.500 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?
00:01:29.200 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.
00:01:33.260 The only thing I have to say to the government about why I publish it is because it's my bloody right to do so.
00:01:39.120 Oh, my God, did the media party rip apart Stephen Harper and Kelly Leach when, in the 2015 election campaign,
00:01:51.500 they suggested that we promote Canadian values to new Canadians. I know, it's crazy.
00:01:59.360 Well, it was crazy to the media party who thought it was proof of racism and Islamophobia.
00:02:03.420 That was their narrative back then. After that, Kelly Leach ran for the Conservative Party's
00:02:08.920 leadership race and did fairly well, placing ahead of Lisa Raitt, Chris Alexander, other
00:02:13.680 cabinet ministers, in part by focusing on that values test. Oh, boy, did the media hate that.
00:02:20.100 They claimed it was alt-right. Seriously, asking newcomers to Canada to agree to the equality of men and
00:02:27.300 women, that sort of thing, is alt-right. Here's a typical reaction by McLean's magazine,
00:02:33.420 responding to Kelly Leach's campaign.
00:02:36.420 My name's Murad, and I'm an immigrant and an editor at McLean's. MP Kelly Leach, who's running to be
00:02:42.260 leader of the Conservative Party of Canada, has made screening for so-called Canadian values the
00:02:47.660 centerpiece of her platform. She's been using generic buzzwords like generosity, hard work, and freedom
00:02:54.220 to describe these values. Then in March, Leach sent out three sample screening questions to subscribers
00:03:00.080 of Rebel Media, a digital outlet that attracts an alt-right crowd. So I'm going to answer questions and find out if I'm
00:03:07.080 Canadian enough for Kelly Leach.
00:03:09.080 I'm not sure if that's really winning people over, putting Canadian values in square, scare quotes,
00:03:18.120 putting words like freedom in scare quotes, but that's McLean's magazine. They would be out of business
00:03:23.320 in two weeks, were it not for massive subsidies from Justin Trudeau. So having Muslim immigrant mock
00:03:30.200 equality and freedom pretty much on brand for them, that sneering tone was ubiquitous in the media,
00:03:39.400 including this incredible headline in the New York Times about Kelly Leach,
00:03:44.460 candidates call to save Canadian values, un-Canadian. Un-Canadian.
00:03:51.160 Yeah, you've got to be a PhD to handle that kind of super 3D logic. Oh my God. Anyways,
00:03:59.960 it was all confirmed. All the official people agreed. You can't dare to ask people who come to Canada
00:04:06.660 to believe in Canada. I mean, if you or I wanted in some alternative universe to move to Pakistan or
00:04:16.840 Saudi Arabia, I don't know if anyone even does that. You'd have to follow their customs. Imagine
00:04:21.900 thinking you could be a woman and walking through Mecca without wearing a morgue-style body bag on
00:04:27.220 you and being accompanied by your male guardian owner. But to come to Canada? How dare you ask
00:04:33.460 people if they believe in Canadian things? One more sneering clip from that McLean's video.
00:04:39.640 And look, it's not like Canada's immigration system doesn't check for this stuff already.
00:04:43.520 Before you get to Canada, you have to fill out all of these forms that ask if you've ever been
00:04:48.080 involved with religious or political violence or criminal activity. The RCMP can do a background
00:04:52.780 check on you when you might have to get police clearances from countries you've previously lived
00:04:56.300 in. See, that's the thing. That's not what a values test is. Committing crimes is committing
00:05:04.020 crimes. It's a different thing. A values test means asking someone about their heart. Do they believe
00:05:10.080 that a woman doesn't have to wear a niqab to go outside? That's not going to show up
00:05:14.540 in a criminal record, especially back in Iran or Syria or something. Asking someone in Syria how
00:05:20.840 they feel about Jews or gays isn't going to show up in a criminal records check. By the way,
00:05:26.380 some of those failed states like Somalia or Syria, they don't even have reliable criminal records
00:05:31.660 databases. They're a shambles. It's a crock to rely on that. I'm talking about the obvious. If someone
00:05:37.360 is forcing his own wife and daughters to wear a body bag, I said wife singular, there are thousands
00:05:44.880 of migrants to Canada who engage in polygamy, by the way. I'm guessing they're not really buying
00:05:50.920 into Canadian values. Yet none of those things are asked now. In fact, most immigrants to Canada
00:05:56.800 don't even have to have an in-person meeting now. They just fill out some forms. That's not normal,
00:06:02.600 by the way. This is a real picture from a real Quebec daycare, subsidized by taxpayers, by the
00:06:08.980 way. That's real. That is not the Canadian way, but that is becoming the Canadian way. The media party,
00:06:16.300 the liberal party, and the NDP, and everyone who counts denounced Harper and then denounced Kelly
00:06:21.880 Leach as racist. Of course they did. But then today, Quebec's premier, Francois Legault, look at this.
00:06:28.400 He just did it. He just passed a regulation. He published it. It's not even a law that needs
00:06:32.980 a vote. He just published this regulation in the official gazette. Just writing it and ordering
00:06:38.720 it to be done. Bringing in a values test. Here's how the CBC state broadcaster reported it.
00:06:46.580 Quebec will make immigrants pass values tests to qualify for residency. Tests will cover what
00:06:53.040 government calls democratic values and Quebec values. Now, I'm going to read to you the first
00:06:58.780 full six paragraphs in a row. It's a little bit long, but I want to show you the difference in tone
00:07:06.000 between now and a couple years ago. Here's how the CBC covered Kelly Leach. The story on how she
00:07:13.700 doesn't understand anything. She's really dumb. They found a doctor, a lawyer to say so. She's actually
00:07:20.140 not dumb. She's a medical doctor. She's a scholar. She's an expert. But the CBC said she was dumb.
00:07:25.280 To want Canadian values? Oh, and of course, you're again from the CBC. She's a super racist.
00:07:32.780 I note that this story was written by John Paul Tasker, who just happens to be one of the Trudeau
00:07:38.180 supporters embedded in the CBC, who sued along with Rosemary Barton, literally a lead plaintiff suing the
00:07:45.440 Conservative Party in this last election. This was war for the CBC, this issue, when it was Kelly
00:07:51.760 Leach or Stephen Harper. That's how it was. That's how they covered it two years ago. But listen to the
00:07:59.420 CBC now. Immigrants to Canada who want to settle in Quebec will soon be required to pass a provincial
00:08:05.300 values test. Starting January 1, new arrivals will have to prove they have learned democratic values and
00:08:10.760 Quebec values in order to obtain a selection certificate, the first step toward permanent
00:08:14.780 residency for immigrants wanting to live in the province. Premier Francois Legault said the test,
00:08:20.620 which was a promise made by Coalition Avenir Quebec in last year's provincial election,
00:08:24.680 sends a clear message to would-be immigrants.
00:08:27.160 I think it's important if someone wants to come and live in Quebec to know that, for example,
00:08:31.580 women are equal to men in Quebec, he said Wednesday, stressing that some religious extremists
00:08:36.300 don't share that view. He added that it's important newcomers understand the province's
00:08:41.460 new secularism law, which bans public workers in positions of authority from wearing religious
00:08:46.320 symbols. I think it's important before deciding and coming to Quebec if you expect to be in a job
00:08:51.300 and in a position of authority, you will not have a right to wear a religious sign. I think it's
00:08:55.360 important that we understand the values and the society where you want to live. That's pretty straight
00:09:01.560 reporting. We're almost done the story and not one accusation of racism or that he's so stupid he
00:09:08.500 doesn't know how things work. In fact, the only use of the word extremism is Legault calling Muslim
00:09:13.560 extremists extremists for not wanting the equality of men and women. Isn't that incredible? I read the
00:09:18.900 whole story. Not only did the CBC not criticize Legault themselves, but the CBC didn't interview anyone
00:09:26.140 else. They didn't quote anyone else who was even opposed. No one. Let me show you that wasn't rare.
00:09:34.260 Here's Radio Canada. That's the French CBC. Same thing. I won't read the whole thing to you. Take my
00:09:39.100 word for it. There's not a word in opposition. Not one word. Here's CTV Montreal. They started out the
00:09:45.860 same way, just reporting the news straight. And then the first opposition criticism is actually the
00:09:51.460 Parti Québécois, just saying, hey, when will we know what the questions on the test will be?
00:09:57.280 Parti Québécois immigration critic Megan Perry Melanson insists the government should reveal
00:10:02.720 exactly what kind of questions will be asked. We can assume some people are going to lie on the
00:10:06.680 test, she said. If they really, really want to come to Quebec, they are going to do everything they
00:10:10.540 can, unquote. As in the PQ wants this test to be tough. They're worried that people will just lie to
00:10:17.200 get through it by saying what's expected of them, which is obviously true. I mean, obviously,
00:10:21.420 this problem of not a fit with Canadian values has to be solved before the migrants are even
00:10:26.400 over here. In a way, this really makes no sense to impose these tests when the big polygamist,
00:10:32.860 niqab-wearing, bigoted family is already here and on welfare. The Parti Québécois is right on that.
00:10:41.280 How does this even help if they're here? Wouldn't they lie? But at least a test that is late and can
00:10:47.240 be cheated on is better than nothing, which is what we have now. Okay, so what did the liberals say?
00:10:55.200 Nothing. Literally nothing. Let me quote it to you. The Quebec liberals argue the test serves no
00:11:00.760 purpose. Really, the question for us is how necessary is it at this particular stage? Said Pierre Arcand,
00:11:08.260 leader of the official opposition, this values test doesn't seem to serve any need right now.
00:11:14.000 I'm falling asleep. So they're not calling it racist. They're not calling it stupid. They're
00:11:18.900 just, hey guys, I'm wondering if it's necessary. That's not even opposing. That's just mumbling
00:11:24.620 something in the corner to yourself. No one opposes this. Same thing with the Global News report.
00:11:32.740 Quebec to impose values tests for new immigrants. Let me read.
00:11:36.020 The Quebec government is moving forward with its contentious plan to impose a values test
00:11:40.960 on future newcomers. The announcement was made in the province's official Gazette of Quebec,
00:11:45.080 a government publication released on Wednesday.
00:11:48.020 I think it's important when you settle in a new society to understand its values,
00:11:51.640 Premier Francois Legault told a crowd of reporters. But did you catch that one word?
00:11:56.760 Contentious plan. That's right in the first line. But I read every word in that story,
00:12:01.120 and there was actually nothing contentious in it at all. No one criticized it. No one.
00:12:07.000 I think some editor in Toronto maybe added the word contentious because he thinks it is. But
00:12:11.080 that was it. Here's the Montreal Gazette. The Anglo paper in Montreal, perhaps the most liberal
00:12:17.240 city in the country. Immigrants will have to take a values test, but it won't be required for residency.
00:12:22.520 Starting in January, those seeking to live in Quebec will have to obtain an attestation of
00:12:28.720 learning about democratic values and the Quebec values expressed by the Charter of Human Rights
00:12:32.580 and Freedom. Let me read a little more. Here's what they say.
00:12:36.900 The Coalition Avonir Quebec government will proceed with its plan to impose a values test
00:12:40.980 on new arrivals seeking employment. But unlike its original vision, it won't be a condition of
00:12:45.460 their permanent residency in Canada. That's sort of what I said myself. What's the point?
00:12:51.380 You're not actually kicking out bigots and racists and polygamists and scammers and haters.
00:12:56.600 It's a little more than nothing, but not much more. The only objection that they publish is the
00:13:03.600 liberal leaders saying, hey guys, the business lobby wants more cheap immigrants for labor.
00:13:09.320 Of course, of course they do. That's what unlimited immigration does. It drives down wages.
00:13:14.920 So of course business lobbies like unlimited immigration. Canadian workers don't really.
00:13:21.100 And of course it drives up housing prices and the business lobby likes that. At least landlords do.
00:13:27.920 Business lobbies don't often talk about values. Like, do you care about equality of men and women?
00:13:33.920 It's just not important to getting cheap labor, is it?
00:13:36.340 Do you know why every single media company I just cited is completely docile, submissive, passive?
00:13:45.800 In the face of this regulation, where they were on the war path against Kelly Leach and Stephen Harper before,
00:13:52.440 why the CBC, why the media party, why opposition politicians are silent?
00:13:58.320 In fact, in the case of the PQ, they want more.
00:14:00.280 Because they all know that Quebecers really want this.
00:14:06.240 Just like they know that the vast majority of Quebecers want the niqab ban.
00:14:09.800 And look at this. This is a survey from Angus Reid of the entire country.
00:14:13.640 Every single Canadian province wants this too!
00:14:18.460 Trudeau knows that, which is why in the election campaign, he didn't actually dare say he'd interfere with this in Quebec.
00:14:24.240 Which is why the Bloc Québécois did well in the last federal election.
00:14:27.860 They didn't run on the promise of holding a separatist referendum that's not even in their power to do there.
00:14:32.220 Federal party, the Bloc Québécois, it's a paradox.
00:14:35.420 That's for the provincial government to do.
00:14:37.440 The Bloc Québécois ran on defending the Quebec culture.
00:14:42.860 Look at this official tweet from the Bloc Québécois.
00:14:44.920 This is the French version.
00:14:47.040 Here's the translated version according to Twitter's own translation.
00:14:50.160 It's yours.
00:14:52.540 Opt for women and men who are like you, who share your values, who care about your concerns,
00:14:58.540 and who work for your interests, for the interests of Quebecers, only Quebecers.
00:15:02.660 Tomorrow belongs to you.
00:15:04.800 And that's the official tweet from the Bloc.
00:15:06.820 But that's not actually literally the translation of what the Bloc said.
00:15:10.700 I'm not a French expert, but I don't think they said women and men who are like you.
00:15:15.680 They used the word qui vous ressemblant, excuse me, ressemblant, resemble you.
00:15:27.340 Vote for people who resemble you.
00:15:29.340 I'm sorry my French pronunciation was wrong, but ressemblant means people who resemble you.
00:15:36.920 That's what the Bloc campaigned on.
00:15:39.660 And they're now the third largest party because of it.
00:15:41.660 Because Quebecers are a little bit sick of the border crossing with the U.S. that is such a scam.
00:15:49.900 And they're a little bit sick of Trudeau's immigration minister, himself, a Somali refugee,
00:15:56.500 who shouts at anyone who disagrees with them that they're racist.
00:16:00.680 He does that.
00:16:02.480 Maybe Quebecers aren't racist, actually, but they're a little sick of being told that they're racist.
00:16:09.500 Whether it's from an angry immigrant at McLean's magazine or an angry immigrant in Trudeau's cabinet, himself, a refugee.
00:16:18.960 Maybe Quebecers are actually fine with immigrants who share their values, like the equality of men and women, like the Parti Québécois.
00:16:27.300 I want to see the questions, too, by the way.
00:16:29.120 I want to make sure that they have nothing to do with race.
00:16:32.960 And I am sure they don't.
00:16:34.500 I'm sure they do have something to do with the separation of mosque and state, with honor killings, with respect for other minorities.
00:16:43.100 I have the same questions the PQ done.
00:16:46.480 Because those are all real issues in Quebec.
00:16:48.640 They're real issues in English Canada, too.
00:16:50.840 Kelly Leach and Stephen Harper wanted to talk about them, but they were called racist.
00:16:55.920 No, no.
00:16:56.780 Actually, those are not racist questions.
00:16:59.940 They're human rights questions.
00:17:01.740 They're secularist questions, in fact.
00:17:04.720 And all of those scolds who accused Kelly Leach and Stephen Harper of the worst things a few years ago,
00:17:12.740 they simply lacked the courage to say the same things, to make the same slanders against Quebec as they did to the Anglos.
00:17:21.700 That's weird, isn't it?
00:17:24.320 Stay with us for more.
00:17:26.780 Stay with us for more.
00:17:56.780 Ever, actually, torching a skyscraper, but not just a random act of arson.
00:18:05.020 That skyscraper belonging to a public utility, a government bureaucracy, really, in Chile,
00:18:12.740 that had made the decision to raise the price of public transit by literally just a few pennies.
00:18:19.320 But that was the straw that broke the camel's back.
00:18:22.520 And why did they raise the price of transit a few pennies?
00:18:26.280 Because, you see, they made the uneconomic decision to buy electric green-friendly buses
00:18:33.720 at triple the price of regular diesel-powered buses.
00:18:39.880 And someone had to pay for this green scheme.
00:18:43.880 They said, oh, let the peasants pay.
00:18:46.200 Well, the peasants were having none of it.
00:18:48.600 How ironic that it was energy poverty brought upon by the green schemers that led to the torching.
00:18:55.920 And wouldn't you know it, today, after weeks of protests, the Chilean government announced
00:19:02.100 it will not or cannot proceed with its big conference that was planned for just a few weeks from now.
00:19:09.840 Namely, the UN Conference on Global Warming, the annual traveling five-star luxury roadshow
00:19:19.780 where bureaucrats, diplomats, lobbyists from all around the world gather
00:19:24.280 to talk about precisely the green schemes that caused the riots.
00:19:28.860 Joining us now via Skype from the Washington area is our friend Mark Morano of ClimateDepot.com.
00:19:33.740 Well, I tell you, Mark, it is quite an irony, a delicious but terrible irony,
00:19:40.940 that these riots were caused, the spark of them.
00:19:43.500 I mean, I know there's other reasons people are rioting.
00:19:45.540 But the precipitating moment was when they had to jack up transit to pay for the green buses.
00:19:55.620 This is rich in irony.
00:19:57.780 Now, first of all, a little bit of background.
00:19:59.140 I was scheduled to go for over a week to the UN Climate Summit in Santiago, Chile.
00:20:06.280 Now, why was I going to Chile?
00:20:07.720 That's where the UN Conference was going to be.
00:20:09.500 Why was it in Chile?
00:20:10.780 It was originally scheduled for Rio de Janeiro in Brazil.
00:20:14.880 But last year, the Bolsonaro president of Brazil, the Brazilian Trump, if you will,
00:20:20.840 announced that he would have nothing to do with the UN Climate Summit,
00:20:24.100 the UN Climate Agenda, et cetera, and canceled the UN.
00:20:27.160 So in the height of their virtue signaling, President Panera, the Chilean president,
00:20:33.060 came forward and said, we are the model green country in South America.
00:20:38.760 We will host this lovely, beautiful UN Climate Summit.
00:20:42.740 So they scheduled it for December.
00:20:44.760 And everyone was booked to go.
00:20:46.140 In fact, I was going to do my movie premiere there for Climate Hustle 2.
00:20:49.260 We had scheduled it at the UN Climate Summit, much like we did in Paris.
00:20:52.600 And then what happens?
00:20:55.320 And part of the reason Chile wanted to have this, in fact, the main reason,
00:20:58.820 they wanted to showcase their green agenda, modeled after what the United Nations Paris Agreement,
00:21:03.800 the Green New Deal, all the virtue signaling you can imagine.
00:21:07.020 And what they did is it all blew up in their face just six weeks before the climate summit.
00:21:13.500 Not only the metro tax fare, which you're talking about, and the buses,
00:21:16.640 but they also put a carbon tax on the remaining sources of fossil fuel.
00:21:21.440 And they also had skyrocketing energy costs from all of these green schemes that mandated solar and wind.
00:21:28.180 And then they tried to blame it on high oil prices, which isn't the case,
00:21:31.640 because global oil prices have dropped.
00:21:33.340 And actually, Chilean oil prices are lower than they were a year ago.
00:21:37.300 This is all the green economy, the green mandates sanctioned by the UN.
00:21:42.920 Chile was trying to have a conference showcasing it.
00:21:45.140 Instead, they're having their yellow vest moment like Paris saw last year.
00:21:50.640 Yeah, and you know what?
00:21:51.500 I'm glad you mentioned the yellow vest.
00:21:53.320 Of course, the yellow vest symbol was because Emmanuel Macron not only had all these carbon tax schemes,
00:21:59.500 but he had this weird command that every single motorist had to have a yellow vest in their dashboard, glove box,
00:22:07.280 to wear in case.
00:22:08.860 Like, it was just this stupid symbol of nanny statism that Macron ordered every motorist in France
00:22:15.040 to have one in their glove compartment, and it was just the final straw.
00:22:18.720 It's funny that, I mean, look, obviously there are other reasons people are protesting,
00:22:22.720 but the spark in both France and Chile was this carbon tax scheming.
00:22:30.660 It's incredible.
00:22:31.740 Now, you say you had already booked your ticket.
00:22:33.920 You were planning the premiere of Climate Hustle 2.
00:22:36.980 I'm very much looking forward to that movie.
00:22:38.780 I remember when we premiered, we had the Canadian premiere of that movie in Calgary, in Edmonton, sold-out crowds.
00:22:46.160 That was a great moment for us to be involved with you,
00:22:50.180 and I'd love to do that again in Canada with Climate Hustle 2.
00:22:53.680 When you're ready to bring it to our country, let's do that.
00:22:56.620 But let me ask you a practical question.
00:22:59.880 I went to the UN Global Warming Bureaucracy's website today looking for more info on this cancellation.
00:23:08.380 They had none.
00:23:09.840 It was a one-line press statement saying,
00:23:13.160 we just received word of this, we're trying to make other plans.
00:23:16.180 It sounds like this came as a shock to the UN, and they really don't have a plan B yet.
00:23:21.440 Yeah, which is kind of, keep in mind, it's a double shock,
00:23:25.780 because they originally scheduled Rio, then Bolsonaro cancels, then they scramble,
00:23:30.480 then Chile takes up the, President Panera in Chile takes up the slack.
00:23:36.120 And I actually have been following this very closely,
00:23:39.200 and I was wondering, are they really going to have this with all this violence and protests and deaths and all this disruption?
00:23:45.720 So the UN should have been forewarned, but now they are left scrambling.
00:23:49.500 Now, one of the scenarios in which they might do, the UN headquartered in Bonn, Germany,
00:23:54.580 I almost said West Germany, I'm still thinking like the Cold War, but Bonn, Germany,
00:23:59.420 it's possible they could have it there, a shortened, smaller version of this in December in Bonn,
00:24:05.340 or they may pick a new venue and delay it until January or February in some other exotic, faraway place
00:24:11.540 that all the celebrities and UN activists and heads of state can fly in their private jets and attend.
00:24:18.000 We'll wait and see. I think it's probably not going to be in December because there's too many logistics to have that redone by December.
00:24:25.420 But I would expect possibly January, February, and probably a simpler European setting that they could easily make happen.
00:24:33.400 But this is a big hit for the UN summit.
00:24:36.940 I mean, these are planned well in advance.
00:24:38.600 These are high profile.
00:24:39.700 This is what they showcase, the entire global warming agenda.
00:24:44.040 And here's what's interesting, Ezra.
00:24:45.980 It's not just the politics or the green energy.
00:24:49.280 I can tell you right now, and you're not going to hear this from anywhere else,
00:24:52.060 there are probably a dozen or so major peer-reviewed, in quotes, or power-reviewed climate studies
00:24:58.900 from United Nations scientists that were timed to come out in late November, early December,
00:25:04.680 just as the world was coming to Chile.
00:25:08.120 And there are all going to be studies.
00:25:09.600 I can tell you what they're going to say.
00:25:10.880 It's worse than we thought.
00:25:12.460 We face a climate crisis.
00:25:14.200 We didn't know it was going to be this bad.
00:25:15.840 We have to act now.
00:25:17.280 All those studies, some of those are probably still going to come out
00:25:19.980 because you can't change the publication.
00:25:22.180 And that's going to be funny.
00:25:23.240 But this is a big con, and it's great to see the con of the UN summits explode in their face.
00:25:28.420 Yeah.
00:25:28.900 You know, I have not attended these, but we have always sent our friend, Sheila Gunn-Reed,
00:25:33.700 and I know that you always meet up with her.
00:25:35.780 We went to the Marrakesh conference.
00:25:37.960 We went to the one in Katowice, Poland.
00:25:40.620 There might have even been one in Germany.
00:25:42.260 I think there was.
00:25:44.440 There was one in Bonn, Germany, a few years back.
00:25:47.140 I think two or three years ago now.
00:25:49.020 Yeah, so Sheila's been to a bunch of these.
00:25:51.760 I can't even remember them all.
00:25:54.300 So we were going to go to Santiago as well.
00:25:56.720 We will keep our eyes peeled, and we're going to send Sheila.
00:25:59.300 And I just spoke with Kian Bexty today, one of our newer reporters, and he's eager to go also.
00:26:04.360 He's an Alberta boy too, so he knows a bit about oil and gas.
00:26:07.680 This will show him the anti-oil and gas industry.
00:26:10.780 But let me ask you this.
00:26:12.380 I've never been to Santiago, but I've seen pictures.
00:26:14.640 It looks beautiful.
00:26:16.160 It looks warm.
00:26:17.840 I don't know, maybe I'm wrong on that, but it sounds like a pleasant place to go in December.
00:26:21.980 It's slightly exotic, being in Latin America, but it's a fairly wealthy, developed city.
00:26:28.280 So it looked like a real party for these international jet setters.
00:26:32.820 I've been to Germany.
00:26:34.160 I have not been to Bonn itself, but it looks a little bit dreary and a little less exotic,
00:26:40.760 and it's not quite as fun in December or January.
00:26:43.820 I think you're going to have all sorts of these diplomat bureaucrats who say,
00:26:48.720 oh, I was planning on having a fun time in Chile.
00:26:51.260 I don't want to go to Germany in wintertime.
00:26:53.560 I'm not going.
00:26:54.700 I think a lot of the party atmosphere is going to be drained out of this, and I say good.
00:27:00.500 Yes, that's always a dilemma.
00:27:01.960 I think there's a frustration.
00:27:04.380 In fact, the last 12 years, they've had three in Poland in November and December.
00:27:09.080 And Poland is very, you know, it's not the best time of year to go.
00:27:13.220 So I'm sure there's this double-edged sword because it's right in the backyard of a lot
00:27:17.960 of the UN bureaucrats and all the European leaders who are clamoring for these UN policies.
00:27:22.800 So in a sense, it's very easy to get to in Europe, but there's no way they're happy about it.
00:27:26.980 They're looking for Southern Hemisphere.
00:27:28.440 They're looking for somewhere where it's the summer in the Southern Hemisphere in December,
00:27:33.300 not the winter.
00:27:34.520 So we don't know.
00:27:35.380 It's still possible they might move over.
00:27:37.240 I wouldn't be surprised if Ecuador, which is a green socialism.
00:27:42.780 Remember, Ecuador had the same fires that Brazil had.
00:27:46.460 And keep in mind, NASA said the Amazon fires were below average when it was going nuts that
00:27:52.960 Brazil's right-wing policies were killing the Amazon.
00:27:56.080 Meanwhile, the same fires were ignored in Ecuador because it was a socialist in Bolivia and Ecuador
00:28:01.000 and other places because it was a socialist utopia.
00:28:02.880 So it'll be interesting to see if another Latin American country takes up this slack for the
00:28:11.500 UN Climate Summit.
00:28:12.480 I know some of the tourist-oriented, sunny places-oriented UN Climate Conventions, Cancun, Mexico, Bali,
00:28:24.020 even Marrakech, Morocco, look beautiful, temperate Moroccan city.
00:28:31.820 Like they really like even South Africa.
00:28:35.060 They love these getaways.
00:28:38.300 I think that they're going to try and get it somewhere toasty warm like that.
00:28:42.820 But I think you're right when you say Ecuador because the fact they went from Brazil to Chile suggests they want to keep it in Latin America.
00:28:51.440 And I don't know that much about Ecuador, but they're pretty radical, aren't they?
00:28:55.720 And they're even crazier on the green schemes, aren't they?
00:28:59.140 Yes, if I'm not, I could be, it's Edward Morales, and I believe he's either Bolivia or Ecuador.
00:29:05.580 I got my geography mixed up here for a moment.
00:29:08.300 But, you know, these are essentially socialist and they're promoting, you know, the green socialism,
00:29:14.760 the entire United Nations, you know, fully formed agenda, even advanced beyond what the United Nations is claiming.
00:29:20.700 And they're untouchable by the media criticisms.
00:29:23.120 No matter what natural disasters happen, unlike Brazil, they're not going to be blamed on the government
00:29:28.020 because they have the approved policies.
00:29:30.640 But it's a lot of logistics to, you know, reschedule it for South America.
00:29:34.720 So if they do do South America, they may end up punting it to March or who knows when and be later, I think,
00:29:40.180 just because of the logistics of securing a place and getting hotels and airfare and setting everything up.
00:29:46.180 This was already a short-term scramble to get it to happen in Chile after Brazil canceled.
00:29:52.260 So I think if we're betting, man, it's probably going to end up right at the UN headquarters
00:29:56.980 and, you know, right where they're stationed in Bonn, Germany.
00:30:00.880 And I think you're right.
00:30:01.740 There's going to be a lot of disappointment among the UN political class because there's no exotic trip involved.
00:30:07.780 And, you know, it's Germany, by comparison, is Dullsville compared to the Southern Hemisphere.
00:30:13.320 And again, I've been to the ones in Durban, South Africa, Johannesburg, South Africa, Nairobi, Kenya, Bali,
00:30:19.620 right on the beaches when I went in 2007, was at the Oceanfront Hotel with luau's every night.
00:30:25.700 So this is the kind of stuff that the UN likes to do.
00:30:28.960 And they'll occasionally throw in a Poland or they'll throw in a Germany,
00:30:32.460 sort of to keep it a little bit grounded, you know, every few years.
00:30:35.880 But the real locations are like Chile and other Southern Hemisphere locations.
00:30:41.980 Yeah. I remember, of course, in 2015 when it was in Paris and Justin Trudeau and all his hangers-on,
00:30:49.580 I mean, they love Paris. Who doesn't love Paris?
00:30:51.480 So it was literally the largest delegation in the world came from Justin Trudeau in Canada,
00:30:57.000 the most wasteful delegation.
00:30:58.380 I remember that Catherine McKenna, our global warming minister,
00:31:01.300 literally hired for six or seven thousand bucks a fashion photographer to capture her in action there.
00:31:08.260 It was so over-the-top gross.
00:31:10.040 I think that if the UN had its heart, heart's desire,
00:31:16.120 it would be held in Venezuela or Cuba, the socialist utopias.
00:31:22.940 But I don't think logistically they could have a successful conference
00:31:27.980 of more than a few hundred people in either place.
00:31:31.480 Last word to you, Mark.
00:31:33.620 Exactly. Yeah.
00:31:34.400 You'd wonder why they don't just pick Cuba or North Korea, for that matter.
00:31:39.080 You know, if you look at the satellite-
00:31:40.180 Low carbon footprint in North Korea.
00:31:43.400 I mean, no one's wasting energy there.
00:31:45.840 They don't got it to waste.
00:31:48.200 You look at the satellite images, North Korea is pitch black.
00:31:51.400 It has none of that.
00:31:51.960 In fact, there have been environmentalists who are afraid of, this is the truth,
00:31:56.500 afraid of unification of North and South Korea
00:31:58.980 because the DMZ, demilitarized zone between the two countries,
00:32:03.580 has been left untouched since 1953 when the war ended
00:32:07.380 that they said there's so much diversity, wildlife, rare animal species.
00:32:13.000 They're afraid if the countries reunite that that little patch of land,
00:32:17.280 what is it, the 38th parallel, I believe,
00:32:19.200 if that gets developed and the country's reunified,
00:32:22.400 that'll be an ecological disaster for that area.
00:32:24.720 So this is some of the stuff that we have to deal with.
00:32:27.460 But, you know, there's rich irony in this.
00:32:30.500 The U.N. Climate Summit canceled because of U.N. climate policies.
00:32:34.120 That's basically the simple summation of what just happened.
00:32:37.680 Yeah, you're right.
00:32:38.260 Well, listen, keep us posted on that.
00:32:39.820 We'll all keep watching.
00:32:41.800 I'm sure they'll announce their plans, whether it's a delay or on schedule.
00:32:47.000 You're probably right.
00:32:47.740 They'll probably delay it.
00:32:48.560 It's just too quick.
00:32:49.840 You can't put on a conference for 20,000, 30,000 people on one month's notice.
00:32:54.320 I just don't think that's fine.
00:32:56.240 You might be able to, again, if they choose bond,
00:32:58.860 they're right where they're headed, they might be able to.
00:33:00.560 All right.
00:33:00.860 Well, we'll keep in touch with you on that because we love meeting up with you.
00:33:04.460 You're our resident expert on this subject.
00:33:06.660 We'll have Sheila and Key in there.
00:33:08.300 We'll let everybody know because, of course,
00:33:10.380 we crowdfund our plane tickets, economy class, of course, to get there.
00:33:14.780 And like last time, they'll probably try and ban us from the formal conference,
00:33:18.960 but we'll try and sneak in some way.
00:33:20.880 We'll keep you posted on that.
00:33:22.140 Mark, thanks for joining us today.
00:33:23.300 Thank you, Ezra.
00:33:24.900 All right.
00:33:25.240 There's our friend, Mark Morano.
00:33:26.340 He's the boss of ClimateDepot.com,
00:33:29.060 and he's attended pretty much every global warming UN conference
00:33:33.900 for more than a dozen years.
00:33:35.940 Stay with us.
00:33:36.780 More ahead on the record.
00:33:46.080 Hey, welcome back.
00:33:47.060 On my monologue yesterday about Trudeau's plans for more Internet censorship,
00:33:50.040 Jan writes, if Trudeau is planning more censorship in the upcoming election,
00:33:54.320 he must be planning on an election in the near future, say, two years.
00:33:59.320 Well, I think that's about the average lifespan of a minority government, isn't it?
00:34:03.360 So, absolutely.
00:34:04.840 And what's crazy is that everyone says this election was not interfered with.
00:34:10.680 That Internet censorship panel that Michael Wernick was supposed to chair,
00:34:14.980 they said nothing happened.
00:34:16.120 Privy Council said nothing happened.
00:34:17.840 Twitter said nothing happened.
00:34:19.220 Facebook said nothing happened.
00:34:20.340 But Trudeau and Karina Gould want more censorship anyways.
00:34:24.000 Are you surprised?
00:34:26.320 Edward writes, perhaps the bulletproof vest was worn to satisfy Justin Trudeau's need for cosplay.
00:34:31.940 Or perhaps he was planning an impromptu stroll down the streets of Toronto
00:34:35.400 where some shootings and stabbings are much more commonplace lately than at one of his rallies.
00:34:40.080 Yeah, I knew immediately that was security theater.
00:34:44.040 But the rest of the media, they just took the bait.
00:34:46.740 Oh, my gosh, are you okay, Justin Trudeau?
00:34:49.780 It must be those bad, bad people in the right wing.
00:34:54.280 No, it wasn't.
00:34:55.200 You were just hoaxed again.
00:34:57.880 On the Century Initiative plan for 100 million people in Canada, Lou writes,
00:35:02.160 the Century Initiative is nothing but a dangerous idea to nation building.
00:35:06.100 Harper, in his thoughtful book Right Here, Right Now,
00:35:08.260 examines the globalist approach to national identity as a battle between the anywheres and the somewheres.
00:35:13.400 The anywheres have no special attachments to any nation
00:35:15.740 because they support open borders, elitism, free trade, and globalism.
00:35:19.220 They're anti-Brexit and anti-Trump.
00:35:21.220 The somewheres are those that believe in country, the flag, and the rule of law.
00:35:25.580 Somewheres want to build better communities and a better nation.
00:35:28.480 Their citizenship is rooting in the values of family and country.
00:35:33.140 The Century Initiative plan is designed to serve the anywheres at the expense of the somewheres.
00:35:37.120 100 million people together doesn't make for the good of a nation.
00:35:40.760 Nation isn't about numbers.
00:35:42.800 It's a totally misguided plan unless you believe in...
00:35:45.060 Anyhow, it's a long letter.
00:35:46.160 But my point is this.
00:35:50.860 The sense of nationhood is rooted in the land.
00:35:54.020 It is.
00:35:55.100 You know that because you love your block.
00:35:57.860 You love your neighborhood.
00:35:59.060 You love the people you grew up with.
00:36:02.860 You love the park near your place.
00:36:04.560 You love where you go for walks, where you walk your dog.
00:36:07.200 You love the synagogue or church you go to.
00:36:10.100 You love your favorite store, your favorite restaurant.
00:36:13.180 Each one of these things is specific to a location.
00:36:16.860 And even if you're loving a McDonald's restaurant, part of a globalist chain,
00:36:21.480 but it's not the chain you love so much as the actual place you went to.
00:36:26.240 We all are rooted.
00:36:29.000 Even a family, I suppose, is the most hyper-local geographic rooting of people.
00:36:34.900 To simply say, no, no, no.
00:36:37.380 The whole world is a hotel room.
00:36:39.920 For rent to anyone and you can leave anytime.
00:36:43.680 I don't think that understands the human spirit or what we need as people.
00:36:48.660 We need to be rooted somewhere.
00:36:50.060 I mean, there are very exciting cosmopolitan, multinational-style cities.
00:36:58.000 I think Singapore would meet that test.
00:37:00.120 In some ways, even Manhattan does.
00:37:02.360 But don't tell me Manhattan doesn't have its most flavorful character.
00:37:07.140 And Singapore, too.
00:37:08.260 Now, I'm against these bankers and schemers who want just an absolutely homogenized place
00:37:16.440 where you could wake up one day and not even know what city you're in
00:37:21.240 because they're all the same.
00:37:23.100 Now, that's not a future for me.
00:37:25.180 All right, that's our show for today.
00:37:26.700 Until next time, on behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters,
00:37:30.140 send you at home good night and keep fighting for freedom.
00:37:32.760 We'll see you next time.
