00:00:00.320 Hello, my friends. I'm still mad about last Friday's press conference by Doug Ford, where
00:00:08.200 he announced really a police state. I'm also mad at the silence of federal conservatives
00:00:13.280 in the face of the worst crisis since the Second World War. I'll give you my thoughts
00:00:17.780 on that, and I just let her rip at one MP who's just such a disappointment. Before I
00:00:23.700 do that, let me invite you to become a subscriber to Rebel News Plus. That's a video version
00:00:27.100 of this podcast. And today's a good one. There's just an incredible montage of what Doug Ford
00:00:34.100 and his cronies said. Just unbelievable. It's just $8 a month to become a subscriber. Go
00:00:39.020 to rebelnews.com, click subscribe. $8 or $80 for the whole year in advance. And you know
00:00:44.080 what? In addition to getting the video version of my show, plus Sheila Gunn-Reed, David Menzies,

00:00:56.320 keeping Rebel News strong, because we don't take a dime from Trudeau. All right, here's
00:01:01.600 today's podcast.
00:01:02.320 Tonight, Ontario lurches from bad to terrible. It's April 19th, and this is The Ezra LeVant Show.
00:01:15.600 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?
00:01:19.400 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.
00:01:23.480 The only thing I have to say to the government of a wire publisher is because it's my bloody right to do so.
00:01:29.340 I can't get over the appalling press conference that Doug Ford and his cronies in the Ontario
00:01:40.880 government held at the end of the day on Friday. I hesitate to even show him the respect of calling
00:01:47.580 him Premier Ford, and it's simply false advertising to call his party Conservative. I feel the same way
00:01:54.460 about Alberta's so-called United Conservative Party, which is neither united nor conservative.
00:02:00.020 You know, permit this quick tangent for me. Just by chance, I was Googling who was the sitting
00:02:06.680 member of parliament in whose district the Grace Life Church in Parkland County sits. You literally
00:02:13.500 had a constituent, the pastor, in prison for 35 days for holding a church service. You literally have
00:02:19.680 police expropriating an entire church and turning it into a paramilitary garrison. You literally have
00:02:26.360 300 churchgoers meeting in secret every Sunday in an underground church to evade police.
00:02:34.000 And you haven't said a word about any of this, but you call yourself a conservative?
00:02:38.820 It's this guy, a nobody named Dane Lloyd. You know, Pierre Trudeau was wrong about most things,
00:02:44.380 but he said about MPs that they're nobodies a hundred yards off Parliament Hill. That applies
00:02:50.420 in spades to this empty shell, this walking nullity, this child in a man's place. Have you heard Dane
00:02:58.440 Lloyd, MP, say anything about Grace Life Church? I have actually, but they're lies. Look at his own
00:03:08.560 website. Dane Lloyd, Canadian member of parliament for Sturgeon River Parkland, is one of the nation's
00:03:14.340 leading advocates for freedom and access to the vast opportunities Canada presents.
00:03:20.660 Is he, in fact, one of the nation's leading advocates for freedom? I think that's false
00:03:27.000 advertising. I think Dane Lloyd is a wicked liar, and I would tell him that if I ever saw him, but
00:03:32.520 to be honest, he's such a nothing, I don't think I would recognize him if I bumped into him. He's an
00:03:38.900 invisible man known for nothing, for doing nothing, for being nothing when it counted most,
00:03:44.340 one more lie from this lying liar. Dane's outlook, preserving Canadian freedom. Dane's philosophy
00:03:52.580 on life and politics is quite simple. Maintain respect for tradition, but also be willing to
00:03:57.780 adapt when the situation calls for some innovation. With careful consideration and preserving stability
00:04:02.640 and an eye on global trends, Dane believes we need to act boldly as a nation to fight for peace and
00:04:08.960 justice. Yeah, I don't know who you paid to write that stuff for you, Dane. It's pretty clear that you
00:04:15.800 didn't write it yourself, because I don't even think you read it, frankly, because you utterly don't believe
00:04:21.700 it. You believe the opposite. You haven't acted boldly in your entire career. As a backbench,
00:04:27.800 nothing. The people of Sturgeon River Parkland would be better served by an empty seat in parliament.
00:04:34.140 They would save hundreds of thousands of dollars a year in salaries and your luxury expenses, but
00:04:39.340 more than that, they wouldn't be laboring under the false pretense that they had someone in parliament
00:04:44.640 who cared about them or freedom. Dane Lloyd is a placebo. He's a fake. He's a counterfeit conservative.
00:04:52.240 I would rather have an honest liberal telling me he believed in the lockdown and believed in
00:04:58.880 arresting church pastors and believed in driving hundreds of Christians to worship in secret. I
00:05:05.100 would rather have an honest liberal than a liar like Dane Lloyd, who says he fights boldly for freedom,
00:05:13.380 but that's a deception for the masses to pretend he's like them. Something to send to them when it's
00:05:18.760 time to ask for donations to help promote Erin O'Toole and his carbon tax campaign.
00:05:24.780 I live in Toronto. I have an awful liberal member of parliament in my district, an incompetent,
00:05:31.520 unethical, permanent politician for life, an aider and a better of Justin Trudeau. But the one thing
00:05:37.660 she is not, the one thing she is not shy about, the one thing she doesn't lie about, is that she's a
00:05:45.460 leftist. She's honest about that. Unlike Dane Lloyd, the hollow man. But really, why should I pick
00:05:51.840 on him? Can you name me one conservative MP who lives up to the title of conservative these days?
00:05:57.120 Look, look at them. Here's Garnett Genuis from the heart of the oil patch near Edmonton.
00:06:02.800 Here's what he had to say a couple years ago.
00:06:04.280 Follow-up. Reconstituent survey mailer received 576 responses. 82% opposed the carbon tax.
00:06:12.020 Question was, do you support the carbon tax? Sent to all households. Survey captures views of
00:06:16.340 respondents. Likely represents population within small margin of error. Mail survey is better than
00:06:21.980 landline calls. So that was him two years ago. Today, he's promoting Erin O'Toole's carbon tax,
00:06:28.200 claiming it's a levy, not a tax. So it's fine, you see. That's what my liberal MP in Toronto says.
00:06:36.540 But at least she's honest that she's a liberal. She doesn't say she's a conservative.
00:06:41.840 All right. Thank you for indulging my detour there. But I have to say, all of
00:06:45.300 these people are engaging in false advertising when they call themselves conservative.
00:06:49.440 I'm sorry. They don't own that word. And we have to take it back from them because they're
00:06:54.160 destroying the meaning of that word. Erin O'Toole has destroyed the reputation
00:06:57.580 that conservatives have for opposing the carbon tax. And all of them are destroying the reputation
00:07:02.900 that conservatives have for respecting civil liberties by not opposing the lockdown. And
00:07:07.000 it's very frustrating. So back to the disgraceful Doug Ford. Take a look at this.
00:07:12.080 We've implemented the strictest measures in all of North America. And the difficult truth is
00:07:19.340 every public health measure we have left comes with a massive cost to people and their lives.
00:07:27.580 But we have never shied away from doing what's necessary.
00:07:32.400 We have made the deliberate decision to temporarily enhance police officers' authority
00:07:37.900 for the duration of the stay-at-home order. Moving forward, police will have the authority
00:07:43.500 to require any individual who is not in a place of residence to first provide their purpose
00:07:50.000 for not being at home and provide their home address. Police will also have the authority to stop a vehicle
00:07:57.160 to inquire about an individual's reason for leaving their residence.
00:08:01.520 And our inspectors will also be ensuring that those who absolutely must come to work
00:08:06.300 are strictly following the public health measures.
00:08:08.900 For our employers and employees, take note.
00:08:13.200 This is your last warning.
00:08:15.180 I'm wondering about these new police powers to just randomly stop someone walking down the street
00:08:20.920 or to pull over a car. What happens if a person refuses to answer the police questions?
00:08:27.820 So by issuing these new additional enforcement measures, it allows police officers to ask the person
00:08:35.380 why they are not at their place of residence and what their place of residence is.
00:08:40.000 And specifically to your question, if you are not willing to comply, then you are breaking the law.
00:08:47.020 If someone sees their neighbours breaking these new regulations and having a party in their yard,
00:08:55.760 that sort of thing, should people call police on their neighbours?
00:08:59.160 In terms of people calling to snitch, to inform, look, we all have a personal responsibility.
00:09:08.800 If it means saving lives, then I think we have to think about what your social responsibilities are
00:09:15.520 as an individual to make sure that you don't empower other people and invite a whole bunch of individuals to your home.
00:09:24.260 Yeah, I'm sorry, that's a police state, but in English, instead of German or Persian or Chinese,
00:09:29.660 snitch on your neighbours. Police pulling you over for any reason or no reason.
00:09:34.540 Police coming to your place of work. This is your final warning.
00:09:38.380 That loser, Monty McNaughton, so, so gross. They have to lose. They have to be repudiated.
00:09:46.060 They have to be discarded. They have cancelled themselves out. For us to support them in any way is to dirty ourselves.
00:09:53.860 It was such an overreach that immediately police forces felt they had to distance themselves from him.
00:09:59.060 Andrew Lawton compiled a list. More than 30 Ontario police departments said they simply would not enforce those authoritarian rules,
00:10:05.900 which is good. But really, we've already seen what those same police forces have done before the latest version of the rules.
00:10:13.580 That's what Toronto's police did to a little barbecue restaurant that didn't lock its doors.
00:10:19.080 We need this car!
00:10:23.260 Get back! Get back!
00:10:25.260 He's got more risk, bro!
00:10:27.260 Get back!
00:10:29.260 Get back!
00:10:31.260 Shame! Shame! Shame on you, brother! Shame on you, brother!
00:10:35.260 Shame on you, brother!
00:10:36.940 100 riot police, and that was before this police state announcement.
00:10:41.580 This was the same Toronto service attacking our reporters.
00:10:45.260 Oh, no!
00:10:48.420 No, no!
00:10:48.860 Oh, no, no!
00:10:49.900 Oh, no!
00:10:51.280 No, no!
00:10:52.260 I don't!
00:10:57.140 Don't.
00:11:02.300 Oh, no!
00:11:04.260 Oh, no!
00:11:05.180 Oh, no!
00:11:06.180 That shin!
00:11:07.040 You're...
00:11:08.180 What?
00:11:08.780 Letting...
00:11:09.100 Oh, no!
00:11:10.180 Oh, no!
00:11:10.260 Damn darn.
00:11:10.640 Oh, no!
00:11:11.180 перевод
00:11:12.180 Now
00:11:13.180 Congress
00:11:14.180 The
00:11:16.020 Congress
00:11:20.180 Congress
00:11:21.180 Congress
00:11:23.200 Congress
00:11:25.180 Congress
00:11:26.240 Congress
00:11:30.160 Congress
00:11:32.400 Congress
00:11:36.200 Congress
00:11:38.340 Congress
00:11:39.260 We're suing them for that.
00:11:46.360 So, yeah, I'm really grateful that Ontario's police won't listen to their out-of-control premier,
00:11:51.180 but they're still out of control themselves.
00:11:54.020 And a year into this, no one has corrected them.
00:11:57.020 They think this is normal now.
00:11:58.600 No wonder Ford thought he could go this far.
00:12:01.220 I see that a single member of the Ontario caucus that follows Ford,
00:12:05.940 that an MPP named Christina Midas has issued a mild statement expressing some discomfort
00:12:11.840 with being part of a police state.
00:12:14.100 She didn't quit or anything like that.
00:12:16.260 Now, I would mock her for her minuscule step,
00:12:19.220 but isn't it more than 99.9% of all so-called conservative politicians across this country have done?
00:12:26.680 Certainly more than the coward of the prairies, Dane Lloyd, has done.
00:12:30.720 Christina Midas sent a letter to her fellow conservative MPPs and leaked it to the media.
00:12:34.820 It's a good letter as far as it goes.
00:12:38.180 I won't read it all. You can find it online.
00:12:40.500 She indicates that she fought against these rules within the caucus.
00:12:43.760 She points out that these rules were universally rejected by the public and police forces.
00:12:48.440 She questions the bans on outdoor exercise, which, of course, has no scientific basis.
00:12:53.580 She questions the police state searches.
00:12:56.280 And she ends by, quote, strongly urging the province to reverse course.
00:12:59.840 It's been 48 hours since that email was released.
00:13:03.340 As far as I know, she hasn't been fired yet.
00:13:06.040 But that's the thing about authoritarians.
00:13:07.820 They don't take kindly to dissent.
00:13:09.880 That's why they dissolve parliaments and crack down on reporters.
00:13:14.180 Both Justin Trudeau and Doug Ford both.
00:13:16.380 Neither are conservatives.
00:13:17.700 Hey, one last thing.
00:13:19.260 Let me show you something.
00:13:20.080 Every day in Ontario, 300 people die.
00:13:22.100 Even more are born, by the way.
00:13:25.300 It's the cycle of life in a province of 14 and a half million people.
00:13:30.840 Out of those 300 people who die every day, 23 die from COVID.
00:13:35.580 That's nothing to celebrate, but it's not in the order of heart attacks or cancer or strokes.
00:13:42.580 There are overwhelmingly people who are very old and very sick.
00:13:46.240 I'm sorry they're dying, but it's not the riskiest thing in Ontario right now.
00:13:50.540 It's just not.
00:13:52.100 But look at this.
00:13:52.820 In the same source here, Ontario's own COVID stats, 90 days ago, the number of people dying
00:13:58.680 every day in Ontario averaged 60.
00:14:01.060 So almost triple.
00:14:02.700 We're down two-thirds.
00:14:06.900 The number of people dying every day in Ontario is about a third of what it was back in January.
00:14:11.780 So why are they ramping up the lockdown extremism now?
00:14:16.420 They're literally setting up police checkpoints on the highways from Quebec and Manitoba as if
00:14:21.040 that were the problem.
00:14:22.100 Oh, no such checkpoints at Roxham Road, I should let you know.
00:14:25.560 This is madness.
00:14:27.580 This is not conservative.
00:14:29.820 No one who does this deserves the name conservative.
00:14:32.160 And no one who is silent in the face of this deserves the name conservative either.
00:14:37.160 Stay with us for a moment.
00:14:39.480 Well, it happened on Friday afternoon.
00:14:53.720 When we had pretty much done our work for the week and we put our Friday night show together.
00:14:58.620 But Ontario Premier Doug Ford had an emergency press conference.
00:15:02.520 It had been scheduled for several hours earlier, but obviously there was tremendous quarreling
00:15:07.580 within his disunited conservative party, which is to be expected given he is not particularly
00:15:14.000 conservative anymore.
00:15:15.300 It was a shocking and appalling.
00:15:18.100 I mean, people use those words too often, but this is one of the times that they really
00:15:21.580 fit.
00:15:21.840 It was shocking and appalling what he said.
00:15:24.140 I'd like to play for you a montage of some of the lowlights of that Friday press conference
00:15:30.360 by Ontario Premier Doug Ford and various members of his cabinet.
00:15:33.800 And I know not all of our viewers are in Ontario and not all are even in Canada, but this is
00:15:40.020 the mindset of not the conservative party or the labor party or the liberal party or any
00:15:44.680 particular party by name, but rather a party that I call the lockdown party that believes
00:15:50.780 in lockdownism and that whatever its name used to be, labor, definitely not for the working
00:15:56.920 people.
00:15:57.440 Liberals definitely don't believe in freedom.
00:15:59.540 Conservatives definitely don't believe in conserving things.
00:16:02.220 They all believe in lockdown isms.
00:16:05.820 Listen to this disgrace.
00:16:07.600 We have implemented the strictest measures in all of North America.
00:16:12.840 And the difficult truth is every public health measure we have left comes with a massive
00:16:20.080 cost to people and their lives.
00:16:24.060 But we have never shied away from doing what's necessary.
00:16:27.540 We have made the deliberate decision to temporarily enhance police officers' authority for the duration
00:16:33.880 of the stay-at-home order.
00:16:35.960 Moving forward, police will have the authority to require any individual who is not in a place
00:16:41.860 of residence to first provide their purpose for not being at home and provide their home
00:16:48.100 address.
00:16:48.600 Police will also have the authority to stop a vehicle to inquire about an individual's
00:16:54.660 reason for leaving their residence.
00:16:56.680 And our inspectors will also be ensuring that those who absolutely must come to work
00:17:01.480 are strictly following the public health measures.
00:17:04.060 For our employers and employees, take note.
00:17:08.360 This is your last warning.
00:17:10.340 I'm wondering about these new police powers to just randomly stop someone walking down the
00:17:15.860 street or to pull over a car.
00:17:17.280 What happens if a person refuses to answer the police questions?
00:17:22.960 So by issuing these new additional enforcement measures, it allows police officers to ask
00:17:30.020 the person why they are not at their place of residence and what their place of residence is.
00:17:35.160 And specifically to your question, if you are not willing to comply, then you are breaking the law.
00:17:42.160 If someone sees their neighbours breaking these new regulations and having a party in their
00:17:50.640 yard, that sort of thing, should people call police on their neighbours?
00:17:54.320 In terms of people calling to snitch, to inform, look, we all have a personal responsibility.
00:18:04.060 If it means saving lives, then I think we have to think about what your social responsibilities
00:18:10.380 are as an individual to make sure that you don't empower other people and invite a whole
00:18:17.160 bunch of individuals to your home.
00:18:19.060 Those are excerpts from a disastrous press release, press conference, excuse me, on Friday
00:18:24.060 afternoon.
00:18:25.060 I think it was disastrous because I start with our freedoms as the default.
00:18:29.380 So this was a disastrous assault on them.
00:18:32.740 It was also disastrous in terms of how it was received.
00:18:35.420 For the first time, I can recall, members of the media were actually sceptical and critical.
00:18:41.060 You saw that one question about snitching.
00:18:44.960 I think a lot of people were caught by surprise with the warrantless search and seizure, the
00:18:51.360 police prowling the streets, stopping anyone without cause, demanding to see their papers,
00:18:56.920 demanding their names and addresses, demanding why they're going about their lives.
00:19:01.400 Because in quick succession, literally dozens of Ontario's police forces made it known that
00:19:08.060 they would not be complying with these requests.
00:19:11.660 The Peel Regional Police Association union boss, I think, was the most eloquent.
00:19:16.460 But a lot of police said the same, including some that don't really have a lot of credibility
00:19:21.420 in the matter.
00:19:21.860 I see that Toronto's police said they would not enforce it.
00:19:24.460 But of course, we know from firsthand observation, they have been amongst the most brutal enforcers
00:19:29.860 of the lockdown.
00:19:31.100 But even if these tweets in objection to Doug Ford were simply partisan virtue signaling, it
00:19:37.660 was at least nice to see them for what they were worth.
00:19:41.260 Finally, a critical difference of opinion.
00:19:44.760 But the edicts were the edicts and the orders were the orders.
00:19:48.580 And there was a particularly brutal order affecting churches, limiting them to just 10 people in
00:19:54.860 the church, regardless of how large the building.
00:19:57.860 There are some mighty churches out there, some of them with the capacity of more than 1,000
00:20:02.860 people.
00:20:03.860 If they're only allowed 10, unlike, say, a Walmart or a Costco that has a proportion of
00:20:10.960 the facility open.
00:20:11.960 Well, lucky for the church at Trinity Bible Chapel, they have the Justice Center for Constitutional
00:20:19.460 Freedom on their side.
00:20:20.460 And they were actually in court on Friday, defending that church against another assault
00:20:25.760 on their freedoms by the lockdown government of Ontario.
00:20:28.060 Joining us now via Skype is our friend John Carpe, the president of the Justice Center for
00:20:33.220 Constitutional Freedom.
00:20:33.900 John, great to see you again.
00:20:35.060 You're one of the good guys out there fighting against lockdownism.
00:20:38.860 Tell me a little bit more about Trinity Bible Chapel.
00:20:41.860 They're one of these churches that, regardless of how large they are, they're only allowed 10
00:20:46.220 people.
00:20:46.560 Am I right?
00:20:46.960 That's right, it's not a capacity limit, like 15% capacity or 50% capacity.
00:20:54.260 It's just on the number of people without regard to the size of the building.
00:20:59.960 And this is, the government has no evidence, the government has not brought forward any evidence
00:21:05.140 in court that these churches are responsible for the spread of COVID or loss of life.
00:21:12.540 There's just no evidence there.
00:21:14.540 And we're also going after the government for failing to produce evidence for its position
00:21:21.840 that healthy asymptomatic people are spreaders of the virus.
00:21:26.640 The science just does not back that up.
00:21:29.540 You know, this one church, it startles me, the insane obsession with churches.
00:21:35.840 I haven't seen any mosques or Sikh temples or Buddhist temples or Jewish synagogues attack with
00:21:43.140 the ferocity that I've seen Christian churches attack.
00:21:45.740 By the way, I don't want those other religious institutions to be attacked.
00:21:49.740 I'm just pointing out that it only seems to be Christian churches, whether it's the Grace
00:21:55.140 Life Church in the Edmonton area or the Trinity Bible Chapel in the Waterloo area.
00:22:00.040 Why do you think there's such a vigor with which the government pursues churches
00:22:07.340 as opposed to Walmarts and Costco's or even other religions and their churches and temples?
00:22:13.540 Well, I have my theories, but I'd like to hear yours because you're actually involved in so many of these legal cases.
00:22:19.340 This is part of the totalitarian spirit that, you know, nothing can be higher than the state.
00:22:27.740 And, you know, lockdownism, and I like your term, and I think it's apt and accurate and fairer to talk about lockdownism,
00:22:34.740 is an ideology that does not want people to look at an authority higher than government.
00:22:44.540 And we've seen that in communist Russia in the Soviet bloc for many decades, from 1917 all the way through to the early 1990s.
00:22:53.740 We've seen it in Franco Spain, Mussolini's Italy, Nazi Germany, Pol Pot's Cambodia, communist China.
00:23:01.140 Whenever you have a totalitarian ideology, the government can't stand anybody, be they Christian, Jewish, Muslim, whatever,
00:23:10.540 anybody that looks to an authority higher than the state.
00:23:15.440 So this is part of totalitarianism, is that you submit to the government.
00:23:19.340 The government is the highest authority.
00:23:20.800 The government holds out a great cause, and currently that cause is, you know, so-called saving lives,
00:23:28.780 which, of course, lockdowns don't do that, and the evidence is not there to support it.
00:23:34.120 But this is all about saving lives.
00:23:35.780 Therefore, we're going to take away your freedom of association, your freedom of worship.
00:23:42.360 And one that's being particularly ruthlessly targeted is your freedom of peaceful assembly.
00:23:48.120 If there was ever a time when the charter freedom to assemble peacefully with other people,
00:23:52.900 to protest government oppression, if there was ever a time that was more important than right now,
00:23:58.700 I don't know what that time would be.
00:24:00.020 Now is the time when we most need our charter freedom of peaceful assembly to protest peacefully
00:24:07.560 against these repressive and unjustified violations of our freedoms.
00:24:13.380 And now it's illegal to meet outdoors for a peaceful protest.
00:24:20.500 And again, there's no science to support the notion that COVID spreads outdoors.
00:24:24.300 We know it does not.
00:24:25.260 The science tells us that COVID does not spread amongst healthy people.
00:24:30.320 So you've got a bunch of healthy people voluntarily meeting outdoors.
00:24:33.240 There's absolutely no medical or scientific reason whatsoever to prohibit peaceful outdoor assembly.
00:24:40.300 There is no science there.
00:24:41.840 This is wicked, naked totalitarianism.
00:24:44.820 And I am appalled that these government officials still dare to talk about temporary measures,
00:24:50.440 temporary police powers.
00:24:52.100 We are 13 months into this.
00:24:54.660 This is not temporary.
00:24:56.180 If you believe this is temporary, you are naive.
00:24:58.880 Yeah.
00:24:59.440 You know, you mentioned lack of evidence.
00:25:02.740 And incredibly, in the Alberta case, I'm sort of mixing cases,
00:25:05.480 but you guys are involved in so many important ones, of the Grace Life Church.
00:25:10.020 The government there has been on the warpath against that church for months.
00:25:14.100 You challenged them on behalf of the church.
00:25:16.780 And yet they say, oh, we don't have our experts ready.
00:25:20.660 We can't submit to cross-examination on our science.
00:25:24.220 We're not ready.
00:25:25.520 13 months in, and they don't have it handy.
00:25:28.780 Sounds like they don't have it.
00:25:29.720 But I note in your press release, let me just put on the screen here, your latest press release.
00:25:34.900 It says, Justice Center successfully defends Ontario Church against government attempt to lock its doors.
00:25:41.120 Shocking.
00:25:42.080 Shows that they want to follow Alberta's bad example and lock down the church in Ontario the way Grace Life is.
00:25:48.120 But I'm heartened, let me read one paragraph from your press release.
00:25:53.380 Ontario's former chief medical officer of health, Dr. Richard Chabas,
00:25:57.500 who served as chief of staff at York Central Hospital during the 2003 SARS crisis,
00:26:02.380 has also spoken out against lockdowns.
00:26:05.040 And he will be providing expert testimony in support of your constitutional challenge.
00:26:10.400 I find that so encouraging.
00:26:12.380 So it's not just punditry.
00:26:14.060 It's not just opinions.
00:26:15.120 Here's a real expert who's giving his medical opinion based on his central role in the SARS battle 20 years ago.
00:26:24.280 Well, the governments of Alberta, Manitoba, Ontario, they hate medical and scientific evidence
00:26:31.220 because they've been getting away with, in the last 13 months,
00:26:34.420 you've got these softball questions from government-funded media
00:26:38.640 who are effectively cheerleaders for the lockdowns
00:26:42.400 and rarely will, you know, print or publish or broadcast anything that might challenge that narrative.
00:26:49.320 But now the governments have to actually produce evidence in court.
00:26:52.960 And in the trial of Pastor Coates taking place on May 5th,
00:26:56.720 you know, this trial is taking place 14 months into the violation of our charter freedoms.
00:27:03.780 And the Alberta government has stated publicly,
00:27:06.260 we don't have the medical and scientific evidence ready to present in court.
00:27:10.560 That tells you everything you need to know.
00:27:12.860 Because, you know, and I understand in litigation, okay,
00:27:16.040 you might need a week or two for something that's been going on for 13 months.
00:27:20.420 If these measures were based on science and based on medicine,
00:27:24.020 it should not take longer than a week or two weeks,
00:27:26.780 even three, four, five, six weeks to put the evidence together
00:27:30.960 and get your experts lined up
00:27:32.640 and get your chief medical officer ready to be cross-examined.
00:27:36.440 And yet the government, they knew about this May 3rd trial,
00:27:40.220 they knew about this in mid-February.
00:27:42.360 So they had 10 weeks notice that this was going to trial,
00:27:45.880 that they would need to produce the medical and scientific evidence in court.
00:27:49.900 And they went to court and they successfully got an order
00:27:54.000 that they can delay until July, which would be March, April, May, June, July.
00:28:00.100 So 16 months into lockdowns,
00:28:02.720 the government needs 16 months to get its medical and scientific evidence together
00:28:06.240 after violating our charter freedoms for over a year.
00:28:09.160 This is outrageous.
00:28:09.980 And any fair-minded person should be able to look at this
00:28:13.360 and see that the medical and scientific evidence just isn't there.
00:28:18.600 Because if it was, why would you have governments running scared
00:28:21.680 and trying to avoid the evidence in court?
00:28:24.440 Yeah, I'm disappointed that the judge gave them that extension.
00:28:28.640 The onus ought to be on the government.
00:28:30.740 In fact, my recall of the charter and the onus and the Oaks test,
00:28:37.040 as it's called to test the constitutionality of infringements like this,
00:28:42.520 the onus is on the government to prove you can't have the freedom.
00:28:45.420 It's not on you to prove you can have the freedom.
00:28:47.920 And I'm disappointed that the judge let them get away with it.
00:28:51.460 I'm disappointed that the media in the main is fine with this war on churches.
00:28:56.160 I'm extra disappointed in church leaders
00:28:59.460 because most churches in Canada are either silent as mice
00:29:04.340 or actually cheering on the government.
00:29:07.500 I saw a gross press release from Knox United Church
00:29:10.080 cheering the police expropriation of Grace Life Church up in Edmonton.
00:29:16.300 Our reporter, Sheila Gunn-Reed, was actually embedded with the church.
00:29:21.040 They had a secret underground church meeting yesterday.
00:29:24.100 I'll let Sheila tell the story.
00:29:26.420 An underground church hidden from police.
00:29:30.100 That is the stuff of communist China that's happening in Canada.
00:29:34.140 Not a word from law professors, lawyers, judges, the media,
00:29:39.240 other church leaders, so-called free speech civil liberties groups on the left.
00:29:43.260 Not a word, let alone from opposition parties,
00:29:45.740 let alone from so-called conservative politicians
00:29:48.440 who claim to be about freedom.
00:29:49.900 I find it is a total failure of the establishment, John.
00:29:54.100 A total failure.
00:29:55.520 Last word to you.
00:29:57.600 It's an utter lack of compassion.
00:29:59.660 I was queried last week by some mainstream media reporter
00:30:03.720 suggesting that lockdowns are compassionate
00:30:07.020 and shame on any church that would dare to not comply.
00:30:10.220 It's not compassionate to throw people into unemployment and poverty and misery.
00:30:17.860 It's not compassionate to take away people's lives and livelihoods.
00:30:22.920 It's not compassionate to destroy the life savings that people have invested in their business.
00:30:29.140 And most lockdown advocates, there are some exceptions,
00:30:31.760 but they have public sector privilege.
00:30:34.700 These are the university professors, the politicians, the teachers,
00:30:39.680 all these public sector workers who have had zero negative financial impact in the last 13 months.
00:30:46.980 And they are quite comfortably lecturing other people about compassion.
00:30:51.940 You know, if these, if part and parcel of the lockdowns 13 months ago
00:30:56.580 was to force every public sector worker, every teacher, every social worker,
00:31:01.040 every university professor, every politician to start living on $2,000 a month,
00:31:07.160 I don't think the lockdowns would have lasted longer than a week or two.
00:31:09.860 But you've got this public sector privilege that is driving this.
00:31:14.760 And there's a complete utter lack of compassion for people that have died
00:31:20.480 because their surgery got cancelled.
00:31:22.660 People who will die of cancer because the likes of Doug Ford and Jason Kenney
00:31:28.560 and the chief medical officers have cancelled the MRI and CT scans
00:31:33.340 that would have detected the cancer early enough.
00:31:36.060 It's not compassionate to cause people to die of cancer because of these ideological lockdowns.
00:31:43.860 And it is appalling that so many religious leaders are not just not opposing these lockdowns,
00:31:50.060 but in some cases they're cheering on the lockdowns.
00:31:52.940 And I think it's an utter lack of compassion.
00:31:56.440 Yeah.
00:31:56.780 Well, you mentioned the public sector privilege.
00:32:01.500 I would call those the high priests of lockdownism.
00:32:05.580 Those are the people who have newfound power, newfound fame, newfound respect.
00:32:11.640 People who 15 months ago were completely anonymous nobodies,
00:32:15.760 anonymous bureaucrats toiling away doing who knows what.
00:32:19.500 Now they're stars on TV every day.
00:32:21.760 They don't want the lockdown to end.
00:32:24.040 They've never had more power, fame, influence, control.
00:32:29.060 And they'll keep evolving their lockdownism to perpetuate it forever.
00:32:37.040 They never want this to end.
00:32:39.840 Why would they?
00:32:40.700 It's shocking.
00:32:41.940 John, I'm so glad you're fighting hard for so many churches.
00:32:45.300 We represent a couple of churches, but I know you represent many cases across Canada.
00:32:50.000 And I would like to encourage our viewers, and I know so many of our viewers are your supporters,
00:32:56.120 but for those who haven't, to go to jccf.ca and make a contribution to support John's efforts.
00:33:03.380 John, you're doing great stuff.
00:33:04.720 Thanks for keeping in touch with us.
00:33:07.120 Thanks for having me on your show, Ezra.
00:33:08.600 All right.
00:33:08.980 My pleasure.
00:33:09.580 There you have it.
00:33:10.040 John Carpe, he's the boss at the Justice Center for Constitutional Freedom.
00:33:14.060 He is fighting where so few dare to tread.
00:33:18.000 Stay with us.
00:33:26.520 Hey, welcome back.
00:33:27.620 Your viewer comments.
00:33:28.620 Deb Wilson says, is O'Toole perhaps getting some kind of deal to lose in the coming election?
00:33:34.220 You know, it's so funny you say that.
00:33:35.280 I just caught out of the corner of my eye some pay-per-view fight between Jake Paul and Ben
00:33:40.840 Askren that was over so quickly, and this brute of a guy just went down like that, and then
00:33:47.260 he was smiling afterwards, and I thought, I wonder if he took the fall.
00:33:51.340 I wonder if he took some cash to take the fall.
00:33:53.640 It's happened before in sports.
00:33:55.920 Could it possibly be happening in politics?
00:33:59.040 I don't think Aaron O'Toole is taking the fall for money or a deal or a payoff.
00:34:04.260 I don't think he is.
00:34:05.160 I think he's just not a conservative, and I think he's got terrible advice.
00:34:10.840 I think he misunderstands Canada.
00:34:13.280 I think he is not ideological.
00:34:15.380 I think he's just, you know, he wasn't the first choice under Harper.
00:34:22.820 He wasn't the first choice after Harper when Andrew Scheer won.
00:34:27.560 He's like, it's his turn, and he doesn't know what he's doing, and he's getting, you know,
00:34:32.940 his chief advisor was the same chief advisor for Patrick Brown, the disastrous temporary
00:34:39.020 leader of the Ontario Conservatives.
00:34:40.240 So I don't think he's being paid to take the fall.
00:34:43.020 I think he just is that bad a leader.
00:34:47.680 Loretta Herzog says, I never thought I would lose respect for police the way I have this
00:34:53.200 in the past year.
00:34:54.180 Unbelievable.
00:34:55.660 I feel the same way, and it is deeply painful to me.
00:34:59.500 I do not like to be on the other side from police, but I swear it's not me who moved.
00:35:06.020 They did.
00:35:06.500 Jared Thompson says, the rebel has been taking a lot of flack lately, even more than usual.
00:35:12.460 You are definitely over the target.
00:35:13.980 We all need to keep fighting for freedom.
00:35:16.220 Thanks, Jared.
00:35:17.060 I feel like we're running 100% capacity all the time.
00:35:22.220 Like, the engines run a little hot, and we've got to maybe gear down a bit, park, change
00:35:27.000 the oil, you know, just take our foot off the gas a bit.
00:35:30.440 But really, can we?
00:35:32.320 I feel like we have to fight so many fights.
00:35:34.360 We have to tell so many stories.
00:35:35.960 We have to defend ourselves for telling those stories.
00:35:38.520 And you know what we do.
00:35:39.680 We don't just stand back.
00:35:40.780 Sometimes we get involved, as we do with the Fight the Fines project.
00:35:44.040 So yeah, but let me ask you this.
00:35:46.740 Isn't this the time for us to sprint now?
00:35:50.060 A year from now, two years from now, it's too late.
00:35:53.000 Thanks for your support, by the way.
00:35:55.040 All right, my friends.
00:35:55.840 That's the show for today.
00:35:57.240 Until tomorrow, on behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters, you at home,
00:36:00.720 good night.
00:36:01.840 Keep fighting for freedom.
00:36:02.800 We'll be right back.
