00:01:14.320 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you,
00:01:32.800 in which we look back at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favourite Rebels.
00:01:37.660 I'm your host, David Menzies.
00:01:39.320 Shocking and disgraceful, those two words pop immediately to mind
00:01:45.020 when it comes to describing the brutal takedown of Pastor Arthur Pawlowski
00:01:50.100 on a live highway by the Calgary Police Service last Sunday.
00:01:54.840 Judging by the footage, you'd think Arthur was public enemy number one
00:01:58.620 as opposed to a preacher who likes to help people in need.
00:02:03.080 What gives?
00:02:04.120 Our man in Calgary, Adam Seuss, shall explain all.
00:02:08.980 All Chris Scott wants to do is open his restaurant and serve an appreciative clientele.
00:02:15.460 This apparently makes him an enemy of the state,
00:02:18.680 as the owner of the Whistle Stop Cafe was actually arrested recently.
00:02:24.820 Sheila Gunn-Reed has all the nitty-gritty details
00:02:27.580 on what is shaping up to be nothing short of yet another lockdown fiasco
00:02:32.740 for Premier Jason Kenney.
00:02:36.460 And letters, we get your letters, we get them every minute of every day.
00:02:40.120 And you had plenty to say about a modest anti-lockdown protest
00:02:44.220 that took place last Sunday in Vaughan, Ontario.
00:02:47.400 But what made this protest interesting was that the York Regional Police
00:02:52.620 claimed they were using Section 1 of the Canadian Constitution
00:02:57.000 to eradicate the constitutional rights of Canadians.
00:03:02.840 You know, silly little rights like, oh, freedom of speech and freedom of assembly.
00:03:08.180 And no, folks, I'm not making this up.
00:03:10.880 Those are your rebels now. Let's round them up.
00:03:17.400 I want to thank you so much for being there for us and with us.
00:03:22.200 Thank you.
00:03:22.820 And the lawyers did their best, two of them.
00:03:27.220 And we're going to have a trial this next Thursday, week from now.
00:03:33.520 And what's the plan from here?
00:03:35.720 Well, we're going home. We're going to eat something.
00:03:38.080 We're going to take a shower, change.
00:03:40.460 I mean, I was taken with my brother straight from church.
00:03:44.360 I did not eat since Friday.
00:03:46.860 So we're looking forward to be reunited with our families.
00:03:50.620 And then we will have to start meeting with lawyers.
00:03:54.080 Lawyers, thanks to Rebel News, lawyers that are going to advise us what we can
00:03:59.660 or what we cannot, how we should go from here.
00:04:02.260 Because this is a fight to the death.
00:04:04.240 Those people are not kidding.
00:04:06.100 They want us down.
00:04:08.400 They want us destroyed behind the bars or killed.
00:04:12.940 I mean, there was no question.
00:04:14.780 The police roughed me up.
00:04:16.400 I had bruises for two days.
00:04:19.560 I still have bruises.
00:04:20.820 You can still see.
00:04:22.420 Which is...
00:04:22.940 Well, you know, they're gone now.
00:04:25.800 Which is quite...
00:04:26.940 But, you know, it was pretty bad.
00:04:29.360 It was pretty bad.
00:04:30.360 The same with my left shoulder.
00:04:32.600 Yeah, they threw me behind the police like a piece of meat.
00:04:36.880 Head down, feet up.
00:04:40.680 So for an hour, I was almost upside down, sitting on my hands and handcuffs.
00:04:47.400 If you've ever been arrested and the way they put the handcuffs on, you know that's extremely,
00:04:53.840 extremely painful.
00:04:55.660 Those wannabe Nazis, they know how to hurt you if they want to.
00:04:59.920 And they did their best.
00:05:02.180 Well, for over a year, I have been telling people about the overreach, about abuse of
00:05:09.280 power, about harassment, intimidation, medical tyranny, because that's what we are witnessing
00:05:15.320 right now.
00:05:16.340 It's a hybrid between fascism and communism.
00:05:19.220 It's something totally new.
00:05:20.900 Medical tyranny that uses the armed forces of the government and the political power.
00:05:25.520 We were political prisoners for 53 hours.
00:05:29.140 I mean, I'll never imagine that I would be living again in a country where pastors, out
00:05:35.840 of all the villains on the planet, pastors, will be arrested in the middle of the highway,
00:05:42.520 not for planning terrorist attacks, not for looking to hurt people, but because we opened
00:05:51.400 the church and we were singing songs and praying for people.
00:05:55.920 I mean, this is absolute insanity.
00:05:58.460 Insane indeed.
00:06:00.160 Funny that Pastor Pavlowski gets brutally arrested on an active highway, no less, and then gets
00:06:06.680 tossed in the slammer, his crime?
00:06:09.140 Well, improving the lives of those down on their luck?
00:06:13.020 And no, Arthur is most certainly not a terrorist.
00:06:16.480 After all, in Justin Trudeau's Canada, we don't rough up terrorists.
00:06:20.760 Rather, we give them eight-figure checks for hurting their feelings.
00:06:24.940 Indeed, does it get any more insane than that?
00:06:28.900 And joining me now for the latest on the Pastor Pavlowski saga is the man who's been following
00:06:34.480 this story closer than anyone else, and that would be Adam Seuss.
00:06:38.840 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Adam.
00:06:41.100 Hey, happy to be back.
00:06:42.200 Fantastic.
00:06:42.720 Adam, firstly, I just can't get those images out of my head about that outrageous and downright
00:06:51.300 dangerous takedown that Arthur endured.
00:06:54.960 What the hell were the Calgary police thinking that day?
00:06:58.900 I honestly don't know what's going through their head.
00:07:02.120 Arthur and I have talked about this a few times, and you'd almost think they're campaigning
00:07:07.200 and plotting in a strategy room of how to make it look as bad as possible for themselves.
00:07:13.460 Arthur's not running away.
00:07:15.080 Arthur's made no attempt to escape.
00:07:17.100 When the police asked to speak to Arthur, he speaks to them.
00:07:19.860 It was a massive show of ridiculous force.
00:07:23.760 Even I read an article today that they're saying, oh, only six police came the first time they
00:07:27.600 went to confront him.
00:07:28.500 He's a peaceful pastor.
00:07:29.880 He hasn't caused threat or harm to anybody, and it just doesn't make any sense.
00:07:33.940 So again, I don't know what they're thinking.
00:07:35.400 It's hard to justify their actions.
00:07:37.920 To me, Adam, you know what it is?
00:07:39.400 I think it is just pure intimidation tactics.
00:07:43.220 It's a message for other rule breakers.
00:07:45.300 I go back to late November.
00:07:47.160 Adam Skelly of Adamson Barbecue in Etobicoke opened his restaurant, and they literally sent
00:07:52.620 in all the king's horses and all the king's men.
00:07:55.280 They dragged him handcuffed into a police SUV.
00:07:58.460 They threw him in a slammer in front of all the mainstream media and others who were there.
00:08:02.720 And I think that was a message by John Tory and the real mayor of the city, the health
00:08:08.440 officer, Cruella de Villa, that if you dare open your shops, if you dare go against the
00:08:16.040 lockdown rules, how do you like being on the six o'clock news?
00:08:19.280 How do you like being dragged into a police cruiser?
00:08:22.520 And the same with Arthur.
00:08:23.880 If you dare break our rules, how do you like being pulled over in a dangerous fashion on
00:08:30.380 a busy highway and being arrested and handcuffed and hogtied and thrown in a cruiser?
00:08:36.640 I think it was a message to other would-be lawbreakers, Adam.
00:08:40.920 Yeah.
00:08:41.300 And I mean, I think there's some of that.
00:08:43.100 But the thing that really vexes me is the sort of ridiculous double standard that when
00:08:47.520 their own MLAs and office staff are caught going on vacation and flying around when that's
00:08:52.500 ill-advised, there's very little consequence.
00:08:55.360 Other groups are gathering and meeting.
00:08:56.980 You have various protests, other religious denominations celebrating.
00:09:00.500 And again, we're happy that those people are being unfettered as they proceed with their
00:09:04.340 worship or their protest.
00:09:05.880 But the thing that really doesn't make any sense is why they're directing so much furious
00:09:10.140 and vengeful anger towards Christian pastors, specifically in Alberta.
00:09:15.860 It's hard to make sense of.
00:09:17.040 James Coast's getting constantly inspected.
00:09:20.000 Pastor Arthur Pawlewski getting constantly inspected.
00:09:22.520 Other facilities, you can go on social media and you can see footage of tons of people gathering,
00:09:27.400 whether outdoors or indoors, and there doesn't seem to be any response.
00:09:30.420 Or when there is a response, it's like obviously disownest.
00:09:34.180 And they're saying, oh, well, we checked and there's nothing there.
00:09:36.260 You can immediately drive to these places and see that they're in direct violation.
00:09:39.760 And again, I'm not going to name them because we don't want to report anybody.
00:09:42.920 But why is there such malice directed towards one or two individuals to make a point of them only?
00:09:48.820 But Adam, this is a very important point.
00:09:50.620 And I think we should speculate on that.
00:09:52.620 And I'm totally on side with you.
00:09:54.440 I want temples, mosques, churches, you name it, to open their doors, to have services at full capacity.
00:10:02.160 But there is a double standard.
00:10:05.360 It is just, it seems to me, to be Christian churches that are being targeted.
00:10:11.640 And there's evidence that other religious places of worship are in contravenience of the lockdown order.
00:10:19.960 So why Christian churches?
00:10:22.720 I mean, I don't know.
00:10:25.180 I'm strictly speculating here.
00:10:26.800 But I think that there is a tendency in society of this mentality of like you can't discriminate towards the majority.
00:10:33.100 So I think that there may be this mentality that Artur Pawlowski may be a European immigrant, not a visible minority, and of a Christian denomination that they can probably make an example of him, whereas other groups are more likely to speak back, call out racism, call out other sort of forms of discrimination.
00:10:50.300 Artur Pawlowski, James Coates, I don't think they're going down that route.
00:10:53.780 So I think they've found someone that they identify as an easy victim.
00:10:56.760 But with these Christian pastors, they're setting a strong example.
00:11:00.460 They're not fighting.
00:11:01.120 They're not getting violent.
00:11:02.420 They're standing in what they believe is their charter rite and what is in the charter to go and proceed with worship regardless.
00:11:08.080 So they're trying to make examples out of these pastors, and they're unintentionally making martyrs.
00:11:13.100 So isn't it so interesting?
00:11:15.220 We've been told since day one, Adam, all our decisions, and when I say our, I mean governments, bureaucracies, chief medical health officers, by law enforcement officers, all of the decisions are being based on science.
00:11:28.440 Sounds like there's some identity politics in there, too.
00:11:31.600 But the other thing, the other theory I have, Adam, I want to run it by you, is that we all saw that incredible video that went viral around the world of Arthur yelling at Calgary police officers and that, I think it was an Alberta Health Services official.
00:11:51.640 You know the one I'm talking about, get out, get out.
00:11:55.420 That never gets stale.
00:11:57.120 Do you think they were humiliated to such a degree that they said, you know what, he's going to get his comeuppance.
00:12:05.460 Will you see how we're going to arrest this guy?
00:12:08.620 And that led to the highway takedown.
00:12:11.740 Well, the sentiment the whole time has been that they're going to come back and they're going to make an example because of that.
00:12:16.740 But I think that might be skirting the actual core of the issue.
00:12:20.360 They've been after Pastor Artur Pawlowski for a very long time.
00:12:24.280 So this isn't a new emergence because of that video.
00:12:26.460 Now, that may very well have been what sort of pushed them over the edge or pushed them to really make an example.
00:12:31.800 But if we're going to have that conversation, Pastor James Coates is nothing like that.
00:12:35.620 He's very, very sort of cooperative and calm.
00:12:39.480 And he has a very different approach to Pastor Artur Pawlowski.
00:12:42.620 So if we're going to use the argument that that video triggered it, well, then it would only be Artur Pawlowski being targeted.
00:12:48.460 It wouldn't be Pastor James Coates.
00:12:50.040 It wouldn't be Pastor Tim Stevens.
00:12:51.960 It wouldn't be some of these other businesses.
00:12:53.640 But I do think there's validity to that, that anyone who dares sort of speak up specifically about this.
00:12:59.980 We know that AHS investigated Grace Life numerous times and they didn't move in to shut them down and do all this until Pastor James Coates actually criticized Alberta Health Services during a sermon.
00:13:10.780 So they reported him, they talked to him a few times, then he had a sermon where he criticized their overreach and their violation of his fundamental God-given rights.
00:13:18.740 And then suddenly the whole place is locked up and the pastor's in jail.
00:13:22.160 Incredible.
00:13:23.240 Tell me, Adam, what has been the mainstream media coverage of Arthur in Calgary?
00:13:29.340 Can you give us a little Reader's Digest version of what's going on with their narrative?
00:13:35.140 I mean, the first, not this last Saturday, but the Saturday prior, a couple hundred people gathered.
00:13:41.700 They remained outside.
00:13:42.640 There was praise and worship maybe an hour and a half.
00:13:44.860 And then everybody cleared out.
00:13:46.820 No noticeable damage to the community, nothing.
00:13:49.060 They just, they worshiped and then they left.
00:13:50.700 Again, I completely understand outside, loud music, maybe Christian music isn't your thing.
00:13:55.240 A bit of a perturbance at most.
00:13:57.020 But the only real media coverage was CTV calling them terrorists and people who terrorized the neighborhood.
00:14:04.140 The other thing I noticed this past weekend when CTV did show up to cover the event, there was maybe four or five counter protesters.
00:14:10.600 CTV stayed across the street for almost the entire day.
00:14:13.760 And the only time they really moved over was to interact with the counter protesters, to get their perspectives and to film them and interact with them.
00:14:20.920 I tried to go talk to both sides.
00:14:22.880 I mean, we're here to tell the other side of the story.
00:14:24.280 That involves everyone having their voice.
00:14:25.920 Mainstream media has clearly just been pushing a narrative.
00:14:29.000 The other thing that's absolutely bizarre is the mainstream media, they're clearly getting some sort of notification.
00:14:34.960 They always leave like five minutes before all the cops storm the place.
00:14:38.600 Like every single time.
00:14:39.680 Wow.
00:14:39.860 Pastor Tim Stevens, all these things.
00:14:41.400 The mainstream media leaves and then the police show up.
00:14:45.240 Unbelievable.
00:14:45.640 And the fact that CTV would use the T word terrorist to describe, I guess, Christian music playing outside just shows you how wrong CTV is, Adam.
00:14:55.060 I mean, as I said in the preamble, if Arthur was a terrorist, he wouldn't be behind bars.
00:15:00.560 He'd be given a eight-figure check by the Justin Trudeau liberals.
00:15:04.520 So it just shows you how horribly skewed the narrative is.
00:15:08.260 But I want to thank you, my friend.
00:15:09.740 You are bringing the truth about this saga and you're doing an excellent job.
00:15:14.280 So well done on you, Adam.
00:15:16.580 Thanks so much.
00:15:17.320 Appreciate it.
00:15:17.760 Thanks for having me on.
00:15:18.560 You got it.
00:15:19.100 And that was Adam Seuss in Calgary.
00:15:21.520 Keep it here, folks.
00:15:22.520 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:15:30.380 Sheila Gunn-Reed for Rebel News.
00:15:31.820 And I want to give you a quick update on the case of Chris Scott.
00:15:35.700 Chris Scott is the owner of the Whistle Stop Cafe in Mirror, Alberta.
00:15:39.720 He's been leading the restaurant Rebellion.
00:15:41.720 That started when he opened his restaurant in defiance of the lockdowns way back in January.
00:15:47.180 And he hasn't closed since.
00:15:48.760 Now, last Wednesday, his restaurant was chained up by the RCMP at the request of Alberta Health Services,
00:15:55.180 cutting the small town of Mirror, Alberta, off from its only gas station and convenience store.
00:16:00.720 Thursday, the government, in secret, without telling Chris's lawyer,
00:16:04.840 got a restraining order against him and Glenn Carrot of United We Roll and unnamed Jane and John Doe.
00:16:10.440 So, that's the rest of us, preventing us from organizing, participating in or promoting
00:16:15.600 what the government now calls illegal public gatherings,
00:16:18.940 which is peaceful public assembly in protest of the government.
00:16:23.760 You see, Alberta has ostensibly banned public disagreement with the government using this restraining order.
00:16:30.180 Now, Chris was arrested for breaching the restraining order on Saturday night
00:16:33.640 after he held a protest in Mirror attended by 1,500 people.
00:16:38.580 And he's been in remand in Red Deer since then.
00:16:42.400 It's Tuesday afternoon as I'm recording this.
00:16:46.080 And we just received an update from Chris's lawyer, Chad Williamson from Williamson Law.
00:16:51.380 He's a litigation specialist.
00:16:53.420 And he and his team at Williamson Law are the absolute best in the business.
00:16:57.960 They've been fighting hard for Chris as he stares down the government for months now.
00:17:03.800 Chad and his team are not only working to get Chris out of jail,
00:17:07.640 but they're also working to overturn that restraining order.
00:17:11.560 So, here's the update we just received from Chad.
00:17:14.840 Now, we've just gotten out of two separate court hearings at the Court of Queen's bench.
00:17:21.340 The first, with respect to the procedure that is going to occur for us to make our application
00:17:28.200 to the court to set aside the injunctive order that was granted ex parte for AHS last Thursday.
00:17:37.140 Now, the court has basically stated that we are going to have a chance on Thursday morning
00:17:43.320 to make submissions to go after the validity of that order
00:17:48.180 with respect to whether or not it was given properly
00:17:51.520 and whether or not full disclosure was provided to the court.
00:17:56.820 And if not, whether or not that is sufficient to have that order set aside on procedural grounds.
00:18:04.580 We also appeared at a bail hearing at the Court of Queen's bench
00:18:08.220 before a different justice to speak to Chris's release,
00:18:12.380 which is potentially going to happen this afternoon.
00:18:15.100 So, we did make some headway there.
00:18:16.580 We are currently going back and forth with opposing counsel
00:18:20.160 on the conditions that will attach to Chris
00:18:24.320 when he is out pending his upcoming contempt hearing
00:18:28.940 that has been scheduled for a couple weeks.
00:18:31.060 So, now we've got kind of a twin shoot that we have to go down
00:18:35.000 and there is going to be some rigorous litigation over the upcoming weeks,
00:18:39.760 both in respect of the AHS order that was granted ex parte,
00:18:43.900 and of course we take the position that that was granted unlawfully,
00:18:47.480 but also the contempt hearing that is impending for Chris,
00:18:52.840 which is also of a very serious nature,
00:18:55.200 and we are waiting for disclosure from the Crown
00:18:57.780 on their allegations that he is in contempt of that May 6th order.
00:19:02.640 Obviously, there's kind of a nexus relationship between these two,
00:19:06.320 and one hearing kind of speaks to the other.
00:19:09.560 The good news is that we should be able to get into court this Thursday
00:19:13.960 to make preliminary discussions about the injunctive order
00:19:17.460 upon which all of this stuff has been founded.
00:19:20.780 Now, I need to get back to work.
00:19:23.000 It's obviously a pleasure to give everybody the good news
00:19:27.120 that we can hope that Chris will be released from custody today,
00:19:31.020 but the war is far from won,
00:19:34.240 and we have an uphill battle ahead of us
00:19:36.120 both in this kind of this twin path that we've now found ourselves in.
00:19:41.220 Did conservative-minded Albertans ever dream
00:19:44.100 that when they gave the Jason Kenney UCPs a majority mandate back in 2019
00:19:49.160 that this government would later attack its own base?
00:19:54.100 But just check out what is happening in Wild Rose country these days, folks.
00:19:58.320 There is a war on the church, there is a war on the rodeo,
00:20:01.880 there is a war on motocross,
00:20:03.840 and there is even a war on those restaurateurs such as Chris Scott
00:20:08.240 who dare display the temerity to open their eateries
00:20:12.320 to feed appreciative patrons.
00:20:15.600 And the question arises, why is this even happening?
00:20:20.140 And joining me now regarding the latest chapter
00:20:22.420 in the Whistle Stop Cafe saga
00:20:24.620 is the person who's been covering this story from day one,
00:20:28.060 and that would be Sheila Gunn-Reed.
00:20:30.320 How are you doing there, Sheila?
00:20:31.920 I'm great, David. Thanks for having me on the show.
00:20:33.960 Always a pleasure.
00:20:34.880 But Sheila, before we get into the nitty-gritty
00:20:36.980 pertaining to Scott's plight,
00:20:39.160 which is changing every day, of course,
00:20:41.140 why is Premier Kenney acting out this way?
00:20:44.840 Surely the majority of Albertans who voted for him
00:20:47.920 do not approve of what's going on right now in your province.
00:20:54.000 It's hard to fathom.
00:20:56.380 On Thursday morning, Todd Lowen,
00:20:58.900 he's the UCP caucus chair,
00:21:01.880 and he's a rural MLA,
00:21:04.240 he resigned his position as caucus chair.
00:21:07.040 And not only that,
00:21:08.980 he called on Premier Jason Kenney to resign his position,
00:21:12.900 calling Premier Jason Kenney
00:21:14.320 the source of the dysfunction
00:21:16.520 happening within the province,
00:21:19.240 saying the messaging is completely wrong,
00:21:22.220 saying that the Premier has sort of demonized
00:21:25.860 any critics of the lockdown.
00:21:28.180 So it's not just citizens
00:21:31.480 and people who voted for Jason Kenney
00:21:33.720 that are becoming increasingly disgruntled with him.
00:21:37.000 It's like the old horror movie
00:21:38.520 where the phone call is coming from inside the house.
00:21:41.380 The criticism for Jason Kenney
00:21:43.780 is now coming from inside his own house.
00:21:46.260 Yeah, I remember that horror movie.
00:21:48.580 I think it was called Black Christmas
00:21:50.040 back in the early 70s,
00:21:51.820 and it was terrifying.
00:21:53.120 But even more terrifying
00:21:54.380 is the infringement on the rights of Albertans.
00:21:58.840 I mean, that is incredible, Sheila,
00:22:00.980 what you just said,
00:22:01.840 what you just reported.
00:22:02.780 The UCP caucus chair
00:22:05.820 not only resigns,
00:22:07.140 but calls for the resignation of Jason Kenney.
00:22:10.220 What is the reaction of Premier Kenney
00:22:15.640 and those still loyal to him in the party
00:22:18.980 in terms of this ongoing mandate
00:22:21.240 of turning the guns on their own base?
00:22:25.600 Well, Jason Kenney has said
00:22:27.220 that he wants a new base.
00:22:28.620 The Western Standard reported it last week
00:22:30.900 that that was something
00:22:31.760 that Jason Kenney had uttered.
00:22:33.860 And good luck to him
00:22:34.880 because he's going to need a new base.
00:22:37.160 He's jettisoned everybody else away.
00:22:41.540 He's gotten rid of the people in agriculture.
00:22:45.340 He's gotten rid of the rodeo community,
00:22:47.640 the outdoors community,
00:22:49.300 so the motocross people,
00:22:51.000 small business community.
00:22:52.360 They're out too.
00:22:54.740 You know, and it seems as though
00:22:56.760 he's getting rid of
00:22:58.220 even the support within his own caucus.
00:23:01.160 We've got, I think it's about
00:23:03.060 a dozen and a half MLAs
00:23:06.060 who've signed the anti-lockdown letter
00:23:09.040 addressed to Jason Kenney.
00:23:10.640 So, I mean, Jason Kenney can say
00:23:12.280 he wants a new base,
00:23:13.440 but who on earth
00:23:14.360 is he going to replace them with?
00:23:16.240 Because I'm pretty sure
00:23:17.120 the teachers unions
00:23:17.980 won't be voting for him.
00:23:19.520 You know, it's astonishing to me, Sheila.
00:23:22.220 I mean, I want a new base.
00:23:23.540 It reminds me of the song
00:23:24.460 of the Huey Lewis in the news song,
00:23:26.080 I Want a New Drug.
00:23:27.240 But what was wrong
00:23:28.180 with the old base in the first place?
00:23:29.760 I think this is Premier Kenney
00:23:33.400 for reasons that are beyond
00:23:35.000 my simple comprehension,
00:23:37.340 committing political harry-carry.
00:23:39.680 We'll see in the time ahead.
00:23:41.960 A couple of years
00:23:42.600 is an eternity in politics.
00:23:45.220 So we'll see if there's
00:23:46.440 a fumble recovery.
00:23:47.360 But to bring it back
00:23:48.300 to the Whistle Stop Cafe,
00:23:51.640 what is the next step going forth?
00:23:54.500 I mean, there must be
00:23:55.860 so much public pressure out there
00:23:58.100 saying to the government,
00:24:00.240 saying to the police,
00:24:01.140 saying to the public
00:24:01.800 health authorities,
00:24:02.980 would you lay off this guy?
00:24:04.520 He's just trying to make
00:24:05.720 bacon and eggs
00:24:06.620 and pump gas for his customers.
00:24:09.040 Why are you doing this to him?
00:24:12.080 Well, and it's not just Chris Scott.
00:24:13.800 I mean, Chris Scott is emblematic
00:24:16.080 of what's going on
00:24:17.200 in the small business community.
00:24:18.300 And he's, you know,
00:24:19.760 he's a very public face
00:24:22.380 of the restaurant rebellion.
00:24:25.100 But here's the thing.
00:24:26.980 Alberta Health Services
00:24:28.060 got a restraining order
00:24:29.300 against Chris Scott,
00:24:31.380 Glenn Carrot of United We Rule,
00:24:33.460 and unnamed Jane and John Doe.
00:24:35.800 So that's me.
00:24:36.680 That's my kids.
00:24:37.540 That's my husband.
00:24:38.280 That's every single
00:24:39.440 innocent Albertan
00:24:40.600 who wants to gather outdoors
00:24:42.620 in more than a group of five.
00:24:44.880 You got six people
00:24:45.860 at your backyard barbecue now?
00:24:48.380 Sorry, that's jail time now
00:24:50.180 because that's in contempt
00:24:51.460 of a judge's court order.
00:24:53.560 It's not just a ticket anymore.
00:24:55.440 So, you know,
00:24:56.940 it's not just any more
00:24:59.200 about leaving Chris Scott alone.
00:25:02.260 This is about the civil liberties
00:25:03.860 of all Albertans.
00:25:06.720 For me, it's reminiscent
00:25:08.980 of the Hong Kong security law
00:25:11.320 that the communists in Beijing
00:25:13.540 brought down on Hong Kong
00:25:15.140 to quell the protests there.
00:25:17.600 They said they did it
00:25:19.040 for the safety of the public.
00:25:21.680 They used the term
00:25:22.440 public safety to do it.
00:25:23.480 We have to stop these protests
00:25:24.800 because it's about public safety.
00:25:27.240 Well, that sounds a lot like
00:25:29.160 the reasoning Jason Kenney
00:25:30.820 is using right now
00:25:31.640 to quell political protests
00:25:33.640 in Alberta.
00:25:34.700 These are anti-lockdown protests,
00:25:36.940 protests that are directly critical
00:25:38.800 of the government.
00:25:40.060 That's who he's going after.
00:25:42.160 And old Jason Kenney
00:25:43.580 would have been outraged
00:25:45.180 about the tromping on
00:25:47.480 the civil liberties
00:25:48.520 and human rights
00:25:50.080 of anybody,
00:25:51.900 let alone Albertans.
00:25:53.360 And now he's the guy doing it.
00:25:55.180 Well, you know, Sheila,
00:25:55.900 you might think about Hong Kong
00:25:57.660 when I hear the words
00:25:58.480 restraining order.
00:25:59.300 I think of somebody
00:26:00.260 like a pedophile
00:26:01.220 who is told
00:26:02.480 as terms and conditions
00:26:03.820 of being released,
00:26:04.720 you can't go near schools,
00:26:06.180 you can't go near playgrounds,
00:26:07.580 you can't go near parks.
00:26:09.400 We can't go near each other.
00:26:10.920 We can't go near each other
00:26:12.260 as grown adults
00:26:14.720 here in Alberta.
00:26:15.500 We can't go anywhere
00:26:16.500 near each other.
00:26:17.520 We're only allowed
00:26:18.220 five people outside.
00:26:19.840 And it's interesting to note,
00:26:21.300 sorry to interrupt you, David,
00:26:22.580 but the CDC just said
00:26:24.220 the other day
00:26:24.940 that the chance
00:26:26.480 of casual transmission
00:26:28.740 of the coronavirus
00:26:29.680 through casual contact
00:26:32.000 outdoors
00:26:32.680 is less than one-tenth of one percent.
00:26:35.400 So we have the entire
00:26:36.700 province of Alberta
00:26:37.740 under a restraining order
00:26:39.780 if we try to have
00:26:41.520 an illegal public gathering,
00:26:42.960 which is the disgusting
00:26:43.880 Orwellian term
00:26:44.980 the government now uses
00:26:46.080 to describe people
00:26:48.500 being normal outside
00:26:50.220 for an absolute
00:26:52.680 statistical rounding error
00:26:54.260 of the chance
00:26:54.960 of contracting
00:26:55.640 the coronavirus.
00:26:57.660 Angela, we have to wrap it here,
00:26:59.080 but very quickly,
00:26:59.900 as you said,
00:27:00.660 one-tenth of one percent
00:27:01.920 is the risk factor.
00:27:04.560 Haven't we been told
00:27:05.720 since day one
00:27:06.540 science is driving
00:27:08.040 all the decisions?
00:27:08.800 Where's the science here?
00:27:10.960 Yeah, they keep telling us
00:27:11.800 follow the science
00:27:12.500 and I'm trying,
00:27:13.680 but the science seems
00:27:14.480 to change based on politics.
00:27:17.540 They went,
00:27:19.120 the Alberta Health Services
00:27:20.160 went before a judge,
00:27:22.280 got a secret restraining order
00:27:23.940 without including
00:27:24.680 Chris Scott's lawyer
00:27:25.600 in all of this
00:27:26.440 to restrain
00:27:27.220 the civil liberties
00:27:28.140 of all Albertans
00:27:29.660 based on
00:27:30.740 the statistical rounding error
00:27:32.900 of the chance
00:27:33.460 of contraction.
00:27:34.460 This is one of the
00:27:35.320 greatest injustices
00:27:36.420 I would say
00:27:37.060 ever to happen
00:27:37.880 in Canada
00:27:38.820 and yet
00:27:40.120 nobody's even
00:27:41.340 talking about it
00:27:42.340 because it's happening
00:27:43.220 to a small town
00:27:44.120 restaurant owner
00:27:45.080 in Mirror, Alberta
00:27:47.600 and by extension
00:27:48.500 the rest of us
00:27:49.460 and federal conservatives
00:27:51.660 don't have a thing
00:27:52.760 to say about it.
00:27:53.800 Where are they?
00:27:55.540 Unbelievable.
00:27:56.280 Well, Sheila,
00:27:57.180 thank you so much
00:27:58.420 for weighing in
00:27:58.980 on this very important story
00:28:00.340 and I think you're right.
00:28:01.100 There are all kinds
00:28:02.540 of scientific disciplines
00:28:03.800 but when it comes
00:28:04.620 to political science
00:28:05.760 that is not science at all.
00:28:07.780 That's pure politics
00:28:08.780 and the politics
00:28:09.740 in your province
00:28:10.460 right now
00:28:11.000 they stink to high heaven.
00:28:13.520 Thank you so much
00:28:14.460 and that was
00:28:15.560 Sheila Gunn-Reed
00:28:16.740 folks in
00:28:17.560 Northern Alberta.
00:28:18.640 Keep it here.
00:28:19.580 More of Rebel Roundup
00:28:20.380 to come right after this.
00:28:21.720 I'm just explaining to you
00:28:27.980 how a provincial law
00:28:30.260 supersedes
00:28:31.000 section 2 of the charter.
00:28:32.660 So right now
00:28:33.400 section 1 of the charter
00:28:34.800 says you can be out
00:28:36.260 it's a stay-at-home order
00:28:37.260 and you can be out
00:28:38.360 for these certain purposes.
00:28:40.420 They do not fall
00:28:41.240 within those certain purposes
00:28:42.540 so technically
00:28:43.500 they shouldn't be out
00:28:44.340 and they're in contravention
00:28:45.300 of a provincial law.
00:28:46.360 I'm taking my rights back.
00:28:48.100 This means that I have rights.
00:28:50.580 I have the right
00:28:51.180 to gain a livelihood
00:28:51.940 in any province
00:28:52.740 and I have the right
00:28:53.540 to move around
00:28:54.660 in any residents of Canada.
00:28:56.080 So like
00:28:56.420 do I not have rights?
00:28:58.400 Because I want Justin Trudeau
00:28:59.140 to tell us that.
00:29:00.680 Is he ordering us
00:29:01.660 to stay at home
00:29:02.260 and put on masks
00:29:03.080 or is he asking us?
00:29:04.220 Because he's a prime minister.
00:29:05.500 We voted him in.
00:29:06.440 And like
00:29:06.720 I was excited about Justin Trudeau
00:29:08.120 when I was younger.
00:29:09.040 Everyone was excited about him.
00:29:10.080 We were just like
00:29:10.340 oh he's going to legalize weed
00:29:11.380 and everything.
00:29:11.880 Like we were all happy about it.
00:29:13.360 Like now it's just like
00:29:14.260 I have no rights.
00:29:15.360 And I will go further
00:29:16.380 by saying
00:29:17.100 no tickets
00:29:18.160 Officer why did you give her a ticket?
00:29:19.880 Why did you not give
00:29:22.940 Black Lives Matter
00:29:23.900 demonstrators tickets?
00:29:25.640 Officer why can't she wave
00:29:27.120 a Canadian flag in public?
00:29:29.220 Okay so
00:29:29.920 you're going to be getting a ticket
00:29:31.400 under the Emergency Management
00:29:32.640 and Civil Protection Act
00:29:33.800 Why did you bend the knee
00:29:36.780 to Black Lives Matter demonstrators
00:29:38.340 and you ticket these demonstrators?
00:29:40.760 What would be the ostensible
00:29:42.180 policy reason
00:29:42.980 of having a record
00:29:43.840 of a peaceful gathering here
00:29:45.580 Officer?
00:29:50.500 I'm the daughter
00:29:51.380 of a Holocaust survivor
00:29:52.640 and at the Nuremberg trials
00:29:54.420 the police
00:29:55.240 and the Nazis
00:29:55.880 and the Gestapo
00:29:56.700 they couldn't stand
00:29:57.820 on the excuse
00:29:58.500 of I was only doing my job.
00:30:00.700 I'm only doing my job
00:30:01.920 is not an excuse.
00:30:06.020 David Menzies
00:30:07.020 here in Vaughan, Ontario
00:30:08.860 Well folks
00:30:09.560 the anti-lockdown protests
00:30:12.080 they have moved
00:30:13.120 to the suburbs
00:30:14.100 such as the degree
00:30:15.580 of frustration
00:30:16.680 in terms of businesses
00:30:18.420 going under
00:30:19.300 in terms of people
00:30:20.700 losing their jobs
00:30:21.920 and well
00:30:23.220 what can I say
00:30:24.020 already
00:30:24.780 if you can imagine
00:30:25.760 the York Regional Police
00:30:27.880 they're right on scene
00:30:29.600 they are educating
00:30:32.160 these people
00:30:33.440 that they shouldn't be here
00:30:35.000 in these sort of numbers
00:30:36.740 it's kind of funny too
00:30:37.640 because you can see behind me
00:30:38.900 a liquor control board
00:30:41.100 of Ontario Superstore
00:30:42.460 as per usual
00:30:44.380 that's jammed
00:30:45.600 to the rafters indoors
00:30:47.000 and nothing to see here
00:30:49.400 as far as the York Regional Police
00:30:50.880 are concerned
00:30:51.460 and I'm very happy
00:30:53.200 to report
00:30:53.960 that many people here
00:30:55.160 have their cell phone cameras out
00:30:57.100 and it's daytime
00:30:57.960 because you might recall
00:30:59.680 back in January 2020
00:31:01.440 before there was a pandemic
00:31:03.120 I was covering
00:31:04.620 a Rogers hometown hockey event
00:31:06.920 and apparently
00:31:08.120 in York Region
00:31:09.120 it is against the law
00:31:10.860 to ask impolite questions
00:31:13.260 to Canada's
00:31:14.700 number one weasel
00:31:15.960 yeah
00:31:16.220 Ron McLean
00:31:17.320 the guy that backstabbed
00:31:18.820 national icon
00:31:20.120 Don Cherry
00:31:20.980 when Mr. Cherry
00:31:22.280 was fired
00:31:22.900 from Coach's Corner
00:31:23.920 if you don't recall
00:31:25.160 that footage
00:31:25.820 here check out
00:31:26.940 this snippet
00:31:27.660 of York Regional Police
00:31:29.640 actually physically
00:31:31.120 manhandling me
00:31:32.420 for being
00:31:33.540 on public property
00:31:35.140 trying to ask
00:31:36.560 Mr. McLean
00:31:37.440 some questions
00:31:38.220 hey Ron
00:31:38.900 how you doing
00:31:39.440 great how are you doing
00:31:40.300 good sir
00:31:40.780 I'm just wondering
00:31:41.420 how do you feel
00:31:42.240 about the ratings
00:31:43.460 for Hockey Night
00:31:44.080 in Canada plummeting
00:31:45.360 excuse me
00:31:46.400 no no no no
00:31:46.980 yeah my wife
00:31:47.620 no no no no
00:31:48.400 since Don Cherry
00:31:49.640 was fired
00:31:50.580 I wouldn't know sir
00:31:51.800 excuse me
00:31:53.460 I'm in a public place
00:31:55.080 Ron why did you
00:31:56.660 throw Ron
00:31:57.220 under the bus
00:31:57.900 excuse me
00:32:00.380 I'm in a public place
00:32:01.960 what are you
00:32:02.460 you don't
00:32:04.840 hey
00:32:05.080 what are you doing
00:32:06.320 you just hit me
00:32:07.060 you just hit me
00:32:08.160 I'm trying to get
00:32:08.620 around you
00:32:09.080 you're holding back
00:32:10.020 I'm trying to do my job
00:32:12.660 no you're not
00:32:13.140 trying to do your job
00:32:13.820 I'm in a public place
00:32:15.020 officer
00:32:15.160 yes you're not
00:32:15.780 allowed to hit me
00:32:16.320 like that
00:32:16.460 I didn't hit you
00:32:17.180 I've got it on camera
00:32:18.120 okay
00:32:18.820 perfect
00:32:19.260 are you guys
00:32:20.440 kidding me
00:32:20.960 it's called criminal
00:32:21.280 harassment
00:32:21.740 this is assault
00:32:22.620 it's called
00:32:23.280 criminal harassment
00:32:23.860 what you're doing
00:32:24.640 I'm practicing
00:32:25.340 journalism
00:32:25.900 this is not
00:32:27.120 journalism
00:32:27.560 do you have a
00:32:28.760 journalism pass
00:32:29.340 to be here
00:32:29.760 yes I do
00:32:30.740 I have press
00:32:31.220 credentials
00:32:31.620 no you don't
00:32:32.740 see that's a lie
00:32:33.440 microphone in my face
00:32:34.200 okay then I'll be
00:32:34.760 on my way
00:32:35.220 not in here
00:32:36.360 are you kidding me
00:32:38.980 yeah so that's how
00:32:41.860 the York Regional
00:32:43.020 Police Service
00:32:43.840 feels about
00:32:44.620 freedom of the press
00:32:45.760 I imagine
00:32:47.340 their feelings
00:32:48.820 regarding
00:32:49.680 freedom of speech
00:32:51.680 freedom of peaceful
00:32:53.100 protest
00:32:53.760 freedom of assembly
00:32:54.800 I imagine those
00:32:56.080 are simpatico too
00:32:57.140 they want those
00:32:58.440 shut down
00:32:59.140 they say they're
00:33:00.160 going to issue
00:33:00.660 tickets if need be
00:33:01.740 we're going to
00:33:02.600 watch them
00:33:03.200 well that was the
00:33:04.240 surreal scene in
00:33:05.280 Vaughn Ontario
00:33:05.980 last Sunday
00:33:06.700 when members of the
00:33:07.540 York Regional
00:33:08.140 Police Service
00:33:08.880 were actually
00:33:10.040 telling law
00:33:11.120 abiding citizens
00:33:12.180 who were involved
00:33:13.580 in an anti-lockdown
00:33:15.260 protest
00:33:15.720 that section one
00:33:17.200 of the constitution
00:33:17.940 gives the cops
00:33:18.920 the rights to
00:33:19.840 shut down
00:33:21.440 such constitutional
00:33:23.300 rights as
00:33:24.140 freedom of speech
00:33:25.140 and freedom of
00:33:25.900 assembly
00:33:26.340 unbelievable
00:33:27.360 indeed just when
00:33:29.100 you thought
00:33:29.580 the screwed up
00:33:30.620 rhetoric in 2021
00:33:31.900 couldn't get any
00:33:33.180 crazier
00:33:33.840 we were presented
00:33:35.280 with that heaping
00:33:36.300 helping of
00:33:37.160 warped logic
00:33:38.200 and as always
00:33:39.780 you had plenty
00:33:41.180 to say
00:33:41.740 Nassim Hanna
00:33:42.800 writes
00:33:43.220 really proud of
00:33:44.460 all these
00:33:45.060 patriotic Canadians
00:33:46.160 standing there
00:33:47.040 and exercising
00:33:47.940 their rights
00:33:48.500 I'm proud too
00:33:49.940 Nassim
00:33:50.360 but I wish
00:33:51.480 there were a
00:33:52.380 whole lot
00:33:53.060 more of them
00:33:53.700 and I wish
00:33:54.640 the cops
00:33:55.240 didn't ticket
00:33:56.160 random individuals
00:33:57.500 taking part
00:33:58.320 in a gathering
00:33:58.920 that was anything
00:34:00.200 but dangerous
00:34:01.460 but I guess
00:34:02.640 there were quotas
00:34:03.640 to meet

00:34:08.400 for their
00:34:08.760 protection
00:34:09.300 it is to
00:34:10.460 hide their
00:34:10.920 faces
00:34:11.300 from we
00:34:12.040 the people
00:34:12.620 yeah
00:34:13.480 maybe
00:34:14.020 Timothy
00:34:14.460 but at
00:34:15.300 least
00:34:15.780 we can
00:34:16.460 still get
00:34:17.260 their names
00:34:17.960 and badge
00:34:18.620 numbers
00:34:19.040 but I suspect
00:34:20.300 the real crooks
00:34:21.500 must be
00:34:22.220 really enjoying
00:34:23.280 the current
00:34:23.980 climate
00:34:24.680 vis-a-vis
00:34:25.320 hiding in
00:34:26.180 plain sight
00:34:26.820 after all
00:34:27.820 a year ago
00:34:28.520 wearing a
00:34:29.340 disguise
00:34:29.840 consisting of
00:34:30.700 a cap
00:34:31.200 goggles
00:34:31.740 and a face
00:34:32.320 mask
00:34:32.720 well that
00:34:33.340 would make
00:34:33.640 you stand
00:34:34.040 out like
00:34:34.420 a sore
00:34:34.760 thumb
00:34:35.060 these days
00:34:36.160 if one
00:34:36.660 shows their
00:34:37.320 bare face
00:34:38.280 that can
00:34:39.240 trigger the
00:34:39.860 COVID Cairns
00:34:40.780 to shriek
00:34:41.500 aloud
00:34:41.860 yes it's
00:34:43.220 a really
00:34:43.800 good period
00:34:44.560 of time
00:34:45.320 if you need
00:34:46.360 to don
00:34:46.820 a disguise
00:34:47.640 to carry
00:34:48.260 out some
00:34:48.800 shenanigans
00:34:49.480 can't wait
00:34:50.840 for this
00:34:51.400 disgusting

00:34:57.880 this is
00:34:58.660 the generation

00:35:09.920 you might
00:35:10.260 be right
00:35:10.720 when it
00:35:11.040 comes to
00:35:11.520 some of

00:35:55.280 back
00:35:55.620 for more

00:36:05.400 devolving into
00:36:06.280 one that is
00:36:06.880 beholden to
