00:00:00.520 You're listening to a Rebel Media Podcast.
00:00:03.860 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you, in which we look back
00:00:08.080 at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favourite Rebels.
00:00:12.040 I'm your host, David Menzies.
00:00:14.440 Well, after four years of NDP rule, regime change has finally come to Alberta.
00:00:20.280 Ian Bextie will offer his take regarding the new UCP sheriffs in town.
00:00:26.540 So, who would make vulgar comments and bad jokes about the Notre Dame Cathedral tragedy?
00:00:34.380 Well, that would be Yves Torres, a hijab-wearing Muslim activist and a candidate for an Islam-orientated
00:00:43.780 left-wing political party in Quebec.
00:00:46.280 That's who.
00:00:47.820 Rebel Commander Ezra Levent will offer his analysis.
00:00:51.760 And holy heartbreak, Batman!
00:00:53.680 Or is it Fat Man, the folks at Bulimia.com are pressuring comic book publishers to re-imagine
00:01:01.600 their iconic superhero characters to be fatter, less muscular, and less bosomy.
00:01:09.700 Gee, where is there a crime fighter when you really need one?
00:01:13.320 Martina Marcota shall explain all.
00:01:16.340 And finally, letters.
00:01:17.540 We get your letters.
00:01:18.220 We get your letters every minute of every day.
00:01:20.800 And I'll share some of your responses regarding our pilgrimage to a Toronto Loblaws store to
00:01:25.980 drum up more signatures for our BuyYourOwnFridges.com campaign.
00:01:32.080 Spoiler alert, the management types at Loblaws were not happy to see us.
00:01:37.300 Those are your Rebels.
00:01:38.340 Now let's round them up.
00:01:39.420 As you can see right behind me, the billboard is here.
00:01:49.960 It's in Calgary.
00:01:50.980 It was a quick turnaround.
00:01:52.500 And we're just down the road from Anne McGrath's campaign office.
00:01:55.020 You can see it right there.
00:01:56.860 We're going to drive this bad boy around Anne McGrath's constituency to make sure that
00:02:01.100 her constituents know that Anne McGrath in 1984 deemed it a good idea to run under the
00:02:06.440 ideology of Stalin-Marx and Chairman Mao.
00:02:09.800 She's tried to censor us at every turn, but she can't censor this.
00:02:13.960 I'm very excited.
00:02:14.920 Let's hop into the truck and start driving.
00:02:36.440 Well, after four long, torturous years, finally regime change has taken place in Alberta with
00:02:55.340 the United Conservative Party forming a majority government.
00:02:58.120 There are so many angles to pursue in terms of the bigger picture when it comes to the 2019 Alberta election.
00:03:05.840 And what a nasty campaign it was.
00:03:08.500 But when it comes to the microcosm of one particular riding, namely Calgary Varsity,
00:03:13.220 I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that our man in Cowtown, Kian Bexty,
00:03:18.100 might just have been the catalyst when it came to tilting the scales in favour of UCP candidate
00:03:24.700 Jason Copping at the expense of communist-cum-NDP candidate Anne McGrath.
00:03:31.800 And with more on this feel-good story is the aforementioned Mr. Bexty himself.
00:03:37.180 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Kian.
00:03:39.160 Thanks for having me, David.
00:03:40.280 Always a pleasure, my friend.
00:03:41.440 So, Kian, that caper you pulled last week with the Jumbotron-equipped truck, it was just spectacular.
00:03:46.940 And by the way, for those who haven't seen this video, please give it a view.
00:03:50.940 It's must-see entertainment.
00:03:52.860 But I truly think that given how close the voting was in Calgary Varsity,
00:03:57.740 your exposés on Ms. McGrath might very well have factored into the NDP losing this riding.
00:04:04.140 And I know it's not official yet.
00:04:05.780 There's still some belts to count.
00:04:07.900 But if the fat lady isn't singing, she's certainly warming up backstage.
00:04:12.000 Anyways, what do you have to say about that, my friend?
00:04:15.040 Well, it was a great campaign.
00:04:16.940 We ran that billboard truck after Anne McGrath called the police on me, as viewers might remember.
00:04:24.000 This communist called the Stasi on a journalist, if you can believe it.
00:04:28.940 And that was her undoing.
00:04:30.560 You can go to that video and look at the exact moment she dials 911.
00:04:35.840 And that is the moment that she lost the election.
00:04:38.260 I hope that for the rest of her life, she remembers that when she dialed 911 on and tried to call the police to silence a journalist,
00:04:47.420 that that is what caused her to lose the election that day.
00:04:50.260 It's nothing that I did.
00:04:51.520 She chose to lose this election.
00:04:54.180 And it's shown by how many views that video has.
00:04:58.380 Over 100,000.
00:04:59.360 I haven't checked recently.
00:05:00.880 I just saw when it passed 100,000 about a week ago.
00:05:04.160 And that's almost as many people in her whole writing.
00:05:07.800 And I'm sure many of those views are from out of writing.
00:05:10.600 But odds are, I'd say, that we swayed the hearts and minds of over 800 individuals in her writing.
00:05:18.060 Everyone I talked to who wasn't an obvious NDP shill, when I advised them that she was a communist in 1984, they were taken aback.
00:05:28.440 And they thought, oh, my God, I could never vote for that.
00:05:31.500 So it really goes to show how little the mainstream media did for the residents of Calgary Varsity.
00:05:36.540 They really failed them.
00:05:38.040 And the rebel was the only news outlet that covered that race seriously.
00:05:42.560 You know, and that's a very good point.
00:05:43.760 And by the way, I do agree with you, Kian, I think going back to the video from two weeks ago in which Anne McGrath is calling the police,
00:05:51.860 she did herself an incredible disservice.
00:05:54.320 She dropped her facade of the caring, loving left that I'm here for the people.
00:05:59.320 And you saw this very visceral, bitter woman dialing the police when there was no reason to.
00:06:05.380 And for optics-wise, if she had just chuckled with you and moved on, that video would not nearly have been as powerful.
00:06:14.820 And then, of course, with the truck, we can see people that you're talking to, reading the messages on the truck,
00:06:20.460 and saying, well, I'm going to have to reconsider my vote or look into this,
00:06:24.760 because certainly the CBC and their ilk, they weren't exposing Anne McGrath's communist past.
00:06:32.080 So a pox on the media party's house, to be sure.
00:06:35.860 And congratulations for you, for enlightening voters.
00:06:39.680 And I agree, I think that might have been the catalyst to undo Anne McGrath from winning this hotly contested riding.
00:06:49.340 Well, it was very close.
00:06:50.680 It was one of the closest ridings in the whole province out of the 87 seats that we have.
00:06:55.500 There were a few closer ridings, but 800 votes is a very small margin of error.
00:07:01.360 It's under 5%.
00:07:02.440 And anything under 5%, I'm going to be watching closely here in the next few days,
00:07:07.900 while Elections Alberta releases these advanced and special ballot polls,
00:07:13.100 because anything could happen, especially in a university riding like Calgary Varsity,
00:07:18.560 where students are voting, perhaps students who went home early,
00:07:22.740 or many student votes that were cast in the riding may be counted elsewhere,
00:07:27.900 if they decided to vote at a home rural riding or back in Edmonton.
00:07:32.600 So it's going to be interesting to watch in the next couple of days.
00:07:35.360 I'm watching, and I'll be keeping people updated on Twitter when the advanced poll results are out,
00:07:40.620 just to confirm that the final nail is in Anne McGrath's coffin.
00:07:45.180 For sure. Yeah, I hope we're not getting ahead of ourselves and we're going to have to eat crow a week from now.
00:07:50.180 But if we have to eat crow, I'll put some hot sauce on it.
00:07:53.600 Now, tell me, Ken, in the bigger picture, if we look at the province en masse,
00:07:58.400 were there any ridings that were a surprise to you in terms of the UCP candidate not winning
00:08:04.620 or, you know, somehow a UCP candidate taking what was expected to be a NDP stronghold?
00:08:13.580 Well, there's two ridings there that I would talk about.
00:08:16.200 That's Lethbridge West and Edmonton Southwest.
00:08:19.480 Edmonton Southwest is where Nigerian immigrant Casey Madu won.
00:08:23.660 He's a United Conservative Party candidate, and it's the only United Conservative Party confirmed seats in Edmonton so far.
00:08:32.020 He's a bit of an interesting race.
00:08:33.940 He stood next to a rebel Stop Notley sign and was skewered by the left.
00:08:38.820 They called him a white supremacist.
00:08:40.800 Keep in mind, he is Nigerian.
00:08:43.300 And his opponent, John Archer, the NDP candidate, told people to vote based on their skin color.
00:08:50.860 And again, this is a white, Caucasian John Archer telling people to vote with their skin color,
00:08:57.400 and their opponent is a Nigerian immigrant, and the Nigerian immigrant won.
00:09:03.200 John Archer wanted people to vote based off their skin color and religion,
00:09:06.940 and if you're Muslim, vote for me.
00:09:08.680 If you're gay, vote for me.
00:09:10.200 Vote like you're not white kind of thing.
00:09:12.580 It was disgusting.
00:09:13.600 And John Archer was the real racist, and he lost.
00:09:16.140 You know, it is disgusting.
00:09:17.360 And the left is playing a dangerous game, and it goes right up to the Prime Minister's office.
00:09:22.080 When you start calling everyone you disagree with a Nazi or a white supremacist,
00:09:26.800 you are debasing the language.
00:09:29.200 It is just becoming part of the wallpaper.
00:09:31.300 In other words, if everyone's a Nazi and a white supremacist, then nobody is.
00:09:35.600 And it is a despicable game they're playing.
00:09:38.480 And when they put that label on a person of color,
00:09:42.320 Kian, I feel like I'm in the bizarro universe.
00:09:44.780 But, you know, I can tell you, when I'm listening here on the East Coast,
00:09:48.420 I listen to a lot of talk radio, and it's very interesting seeing the lefty pundits here
00:09:52.600 trying to analyze the Alberta election.
00:09:55.320 And one of the narratives is, well, you know, it was bad luck with Rachel Notley
00:09:59.240 inheriting what became a very bad economy.
00:10:02.500 She was a pipeline champion and was thwarted by Ottawa.
00:10:06.460 And then they almost contradict themselves by saying,
00:10:09.000 but she really believed in an alternative energy economy too.
00:10:12.860 Well, which is it, oil or alternative energy?
00:10:15.400 And meanwhile, Kian, who's kidding who here?
00:10:18.700 This is a woman that was always anti-pipeline,
00:10:22.680 and just in the later part of the regime,
00:10:25.840 made pronouncements to make it look like she was for pipelines.
00:10:29.920 Well, we're going to see some upset NDP supporters, I think, going forward.
00:10:37.700 They want to know why they lost.
00:10:39.720 They were so convinced that Rachel Notley's brand was going to take them over the finish line,
00:10:44.060 and it didn't.
00:10:44.960 Wow.
00:10:45.240 So I think that when they all sort of come together as a collective at their next AGM,
00:10:51.980 there's going to be, and keep in mind Rachel Notley didn't resign,
00:10:56.220 we've got to keep in mind leopards don't change their spots.
00:10:59.080 And the NDP supporters, the diehard unionists who, you know,
00:11:03.920 who were behind the party from the get-go before they accidentally got elected,
00:11:07.940 they've always hated pipelines.
00:11:09.440 They always have.
00:11:10.120 And so have their leaders, especially the ones that were elected before the Orange Crush of 2015.
00:11:15.500 That's Rachel Notley, that's Darren Billis, that's David Agin,
00:11:18.720 and Rod Loyola, I think, was the fourth.
00:11:21.760 He's the actual other communist in the party.
00:11:24.700 They all hate pipelines.
00:11:25.980 They've all been at every anti-energy rally that existed from 2000 to 2015.
00:11:32.260 So I'm going to expect to see a very diehard anti-oil, anti-pipeline,
00:11:41.040 anti-Alberta candidate running for the leadership once Rachel Notley inevitably resigns.
00:11:46.360 I think that'll happen in the next three or four months.
00:11:49.360 Wow.
00:11:49.620 And to think, you might have thought that they would have learned a lesson,
00:11:53.540 but apparently they're so beholden to their dogma.
00:11:56.960 Kim, we'll wrap it here.
00:11:57.820 One last question.
00:11:59.560 What can Jason Kenney do?
00:12:02.040 This election was all about the economy.
00:12:05.320 Alberta's in bus mode right now.
00:12:07.580 But, you know, getting those pipelines expanded,
00:12:10.600 I'm thinking of Energy East through Quebec.
00:12:12.920 I'm thinking of pipelines in British Columbia,
00:12:15.460 where you have premiers in those two provinces that are anti-pipeline too.
00:12:20.380 Even with regime change in Alberta, I guess the question is,
00:12:24.040 Kian, what can Jason Kenney do if he's running into opposition in other provinces?
00:12:29.400 Well, that's a good question.
00:12:32.680 And I want to go to something Ezra said during the live stream.
00:12:35.960 And I think it holds, I think it is really important.
00:12:40.640 Ronald Reagan defined his presidency by firing all of the air traffic controllers in the United
00:12:47.740 States and replacing it with the military.
00:12:49.820 And that was the moment where, as Ezra said, the Soviets realized that they had an opponent who was not going to mess around.
00:12:56.980 And I can compare British Columbian John Horgan to the Soviets in the late 1900s and Jason Kenney to Ronald Reagan.
00:13:08.400 He needs a moment where he says, no, we're not going to screw around.
00:13:11.680 We're starting right away.
00:13:12.920 Day one, we're going to hit the ground running.
00:13:14.740 We're going to turn off the taps to B.C.
00:13:16.520 We're going to make them pay three bucks, four bucks a liter for their oil and gas until they realize that they have no right,
00:13:24.400 no right to suffocate Alberta, to suffocate our industry and to keep our people unemployed for no reason other than they're on some
00:13:32.540 hoity-toity hype environmentalist perch.
00:13:37.060 And we're not going to we're not going to let that happen.
00:13:39.380 And Jason Kenney has to make sure that Albertans see him as a premier of action in the first 100 days.
00:13:45.900 I'm giving him 100 days.
00:13:47.020 If I don't see serious action, then then I will lose all hope, because if Jason Kenney is not going to do something, then I don't know who will.
00:13:54.500 You know, I totally agree, Kian.
00:13:56.120 And, you know, Kenney has that trump card.
00:13:59.340 He can literally turn off the taps to British Columbia if he has the wherewithal to do so.
00:14:04.840 So let's see if he takes a page out of the Ronald Reagan playbook.
00:14:09.800 Anyways, great coverage of the election.
00:14:12.620 It was a fascinating election, Kian.
00:14:14.700 And just watch out for Anne McGrath if you're crossing the street and you see someone speeding up as opposed to slowing down.
00:14:23.060 But anyways, thank you so much for your time, as always.
00:14:27.260 Thank you, David.
00:14:28.000 You got it.
00:14:28.660 And that was Kian Bexty in Calgary.
00:14:31.980 Keep it here, folks.
00:14:32.600 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:14:34.840 Let's focus on what she said.
00:14:44.500 Again, I'm using the Google Translation of La Presse.
00:14:48.120 In a confused message posted and removed from her Facebook page, Taurus, who has already been a political analyst,
00:14:55.400 invited to the show La Joute on the TVA network, suggests that the fire in Paris Monday would be the result of a divine intervention related to the prohibition of religious symbols in France.
00:15:06.160 According to Ms. Torres, banning religious signs can stoke the wrath of the imaginary friend.
00:15:14.040 And then here is the result, according to her.
00:15:16.440 I would be, Prime Minister Francois Legault, I would sleep firefighters at the Basilica of Notre Dame Street in Montreal, she continues.
00:15:28.520 Okay, so pretty clear, but let me be clear, because that was a funny translation by machine.
00:15:35.240 Eve Torres, a hijab-wearing Muslim activist, official spokesman for a large Muslim lobby group, former candidate for an Islam-oriented left-wing political party in Quebec,
00:15:43.800 said that the fire in Paris that consumed the Notre Dame was divine punishment to France for banning the Muslim burqa, which France has done,
00:15:57.480 and which Francois Legault, they call him the Prime Minister in Quebec, he's the Premier,
00:16:01.700 Francois Legault, their Premier, is proposing to do the same thing or a similar thing in Bill 21.
00:16:06.520 That's the bill I walked you through the other day.
00:16:08.320 It doesn't actually ban the burqa in public.
00:16:10.360 It doesn't actually mention Islam or Muslims or any religion.
00:16:12.440 It just assures that the government itself is secular in Quebec, and it bans face covering for certain government jobs and religious symbols from others.
00:16:21.360 Any religious symbols?
00:16:23.720 Well, Eve Torres says,
00:16:25.740 If I were Legault, I'd have firemen sleeping at Montreal's great cathedral.
00:16:31.180 That's what she said.
00:16:32.580 That's what she said.
00:16:34.560 Eve Torres is one heck of a spokesthingy for the religion of peace,
00:16:39.220 because, as you just heard, she made some very distasteful, very odious remarks about the tragedy we all witnessed earlier this week in France,
00:16:47.720 when Notre Dame Cathedral was devastated by fire.
00:16:51.740 Yet, while most people were mourning the damage done to this magnificent structure,
00:16:56.320 where Ms. Torres appeared to be making some sort of a veiled threat pertaining to the potential use of terrorism as a response to Quebec's Bill 21.
00:17:07.820 Or maybe that firefighter quip was meant to be a joke, a very bad joke, a very unfunny joke without a punchline.
00:17:15.100 Either way, her remarks are egregious.
00:17:17.240 Yet, did the media party freak out?
00:17:19.060 Well, of course not.
00:17:21.080 But could you imagine the outcry that would have erupted if a famous mosque had burnt to the ground
00:17:26.220 and a right-wing Christian activist made so-called jokes about that event?
00:17:31.180 Well, cue the crucifixion.
00:17:34.280 And with more on yet another example of double standards at play is our very own rebel commander, Ezra Levent.
00:17:39.940 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Ezra.
00:17:41.260 Oh, thank you.
00:17:41.840 It's not just the double standards.
00:17:43.060 You're so right.
00:17:43.680 If any politician joked about burning a mosque down, we wouldn't hear the end of it.
00:17:49.940 They would immediately be marginalized in all polite circles, fired from any job they had.
00:17:56.880 I am absolutely sure they would be visited by police with guns for a hate crime investigation.
00:18:02.700 So there's the double standard aspect.
00:18:04.760 There's the shocking but absolutely unsurprising fact that no English language media has covered this.
00:18:10.860 Yes.
00:18:11.260 Like it's fairly big news in Quebec because she was a Quebec Solidaire candidate.
00:18:16.300 She's a Quebec spokesman for the Islamist National Council of Canadian Muslims.
00:18:21.300 Right.
00:18:21.680 But not one word in the rest of Canada.
00:18:24.740 That's very interesting.
00:18:25.720 You're right.
00:18:27.100 But I think there's something even deeper, which is, hang on.
00:18:31.240 We were all told, don't speculate about maybe was this fire set by arson?
00:18:36.260 Maybe was this fire set as a terrorist act?
00:18:40.440 I mean, there was in 2016 a terrorist plot by ISIS against this same Notre Dame Cathedral.
00:18:48.040 So you're not allowed to say that.
00:18:49.780 It's all speculation.
00:18:51.000 You're not allowed to ask too many questions about that because that's Islamophobia.
00:18:53.860 And here you have a Muslim leader of sorts herself who says, who acts out the very terrorist threat that we're supposed to pretend never exists or never happens.
00:19:06.780 So it's not just the double standard.
00:19:11.180 It's this woman just lived down to the stereotype of Muslim thugs who sweet talk what they need to but threaten what they have to.
00:19:25.640 And here's someone who's very, oh, I'm against hate and I like using the levers of our democracy.
00:19:31.960 She testified before parliament.
00:19:33.440 I'm very sweet.
00:19:34.600 Oh, but if you ban the burqa, you better have firemen parked at your old basilica.
00:19:40.440 And I think you make a great point here, Ezra, and that is that, you know, when it comes to so-called Islamophobia, as you said, she's living down to that bad stereotype of a Muslim that is speaking out against the Canadian community, that welcome type.
00:19:57.220 Well, not just speaking out, but making a threat.
00:19:59.020 Yes.
00:19:59.360 Or a joking threat.
00:20:00.720 And this is where I'm trying to connect the dots.
00:20:05.040 You know, why wouldn't this garner more media coverage?
00:20:09.720 I mean, is there some sort of narrative that a female Muslim or a Muslim, regardless of sex, is incapable of hate speech to begin with?
00:20:20.100 Well, I mean, that's what we used to call reverse racism, doesn't exist according to the left.
00:20:27.580 You can't be racist if you're a minority.
00:20:29.440 You can't be a bigot if you're Muslim.
00:20:32.700 And there's a lot of incredible things here.
00:20:36.680 And the thing is, because of social media, word gets out.
00:20:43.400 And so we all see the silencing in the mainstream media.
00:20:48.340 And when they don't cover news that is obviously news, it erodes trust in the media further.
00:20:54.880 So, of course, the powers that we have taken to censoring social media to try and stop it.
00:21:00.200 But I don't know if they can.
00:21:01.720 I mean, I guess, you know, the great firewall of China, they have pretty solid Internet censorship and Google's helping them do it.
00:21:09.240 But in Canada, every time the media makes a decision like this, they reduce their own credibility.
00:21:14.660 And what Daniel Pipes called the 5P professionals, the press, the politicians, the police, prosecutors, and the professors.
00:21:21.220 Every time they deny reality, every time they say, oh, the emperor's new clothes is wonderful, trust in the establishment falls.
00:21:30.260 Let me tell you what I mean.
00:21:32.540 I use the analogy in my monologue of the boy who cries wolf.
00:21:35.980 Oh, my God, there's a wolf ringing the bell.
00:21:38.500 Everyone comes running once.
00:21:39.540 There's no wolf.
00:21:40.520 Oh, my God, there's a wolf.
00:21:41.360 Everyone comes running.
00:21:42.240 There's no wolf.
00:21:43.600 A real wolf actually comes.
00:21:45.300 The boy cries wolf.
00:21:46.200 People say, oh, he's probably just kidding again.
00:21:48.000 That's the fable.
00:21:50.260 It might even mean Aesop's fable about the boy who cries wolf.
00:21:53.220 This is the opposite.
00:21:54.660 This is the media who did not cry wolf when a wolf came.
00:22:00.020 And so we see the wolf coming, and the media says, there's no wolf.
00:22:05.400 Huh?
00:22:05.980 We see the wolf coming.
00:22:07.400 No, it's not a wolf.
00:22:08.480 It's just a dog.
00:22:09.680 No, it's not a wolf.
00:22:10.580 It's just a cat.
00:22:12.280 No, it's not a wolf.
00:22:13.640 It's a sheep dressed up as a wolf.
00:22:16.000 No, there's no, don't believe you're lying.
00:22:17.920 There's no wolf.
00:22:18.700 So we have the mirror image opposite, like a photographic negative of the boy who cried wolf.
00:22:26.220 We have the media who will never call wolf.
00:22:28.920 And sometimes there's no wolf, but a lot of times there's a wolf.
00:22:32.160 And if we know that we can't trust the 5P professionals, the politicians, the press, prosecutors, the police, the professors, when there's a bloody wolf, that doesn't help things because then we don't trust the media or the other professionals.
00:22:45.500 Oh, and you can see that by the way people feel these days.
00:22:49.320 They are seeing through this, Ezra.
00:22:50.740 I'm firmly convinced.
00:22:51.740 And, you know, we don't even have to speculate, do we, my friend?
00:22:54.420 I mean, when we say, well, what if that woman had been a devout Christian and what if her statements had been anti-Islamic?
00:23:02.700 Because we know, and you mentioned it in your monologue, the Westboro Baptist Church, which will pick, say, a military funeral in the U.S.
00:23:10.840 and they'll have signs saying God hates gays or what have you.
00:23:15.080 They're trying to drum up attention for themselves for whatever nefarious reason.
00:23:18.980 That gets all kinds of coverage.
00:23:20.420 Oh, yeah.
00:23:21.240 I mean, any crank or kook on the right or Christian, even if they have no followers at all,
00:23:27.380 I remember there was some guy, Terry something or other, who claimed to be a preacher who loved burning Korans.
00:23:33.860 And he tried to, and he had, like, no followers or something.
00:23:37.260 But, oh, my God, international news because he was a kook who lived down to all the caricatures of the worst of, you know, xenophobic, Christian.
00:23:48.060 Like, he was a, 300 million Christians in the United States who were real people.
00:23:55.240 They found this kook because they preferred to have him as a personification of what they hate about Christians.
00:24:02.960 So we know that they'll put anyone on TV to discredit Christianity.
00:24:06.740 And here is a Muslim who is an authoritative woman.
00:24:11.240 Like, she's not just a crank on her own.
00:24:15.460 Like, she is a crank, but she's an official crank.
00:24:17.740 She's a crank who testified before our parliament.
00:24:19.720 She's a crank who ran for public office.
00:24:21.580 She's a crank who's a spokesman for the NCCM.
00:24:24.600 So she's not actually that freaky fringe.
00:24:27.400 She is political Islam in Canada, and that is exactly why the media in English Canada have ignored it.
00:24:34.420 And the CBC has been silent on a mouse.
00:24:38.720 Yeah.
00:24:39.240 But, boy, they got their stories about Andrew Scheer being a bigot and Jason Kenney being a bigot.
00:24:43.740 I mean, they're hunting for neo-Nazis.
00:24:46.220 I actually don't know if there's any actual neo-Nazis in Canada.
00:24:49.920 I know there's a lot of undercover cops trying to find them and a lot of hate crime hoaxes like Jussie Smollett.
00:24:56.600 But I don't know if there are any neo-Nazis in Canada.
00:24:58.840 Maybe there are.
00:24:59.900 I haven't seen any, and I'm a Jew.
00:25:01.480 I got my spider senses tingling when there's Nazism before.
00:25:05.440 But, my God, there's a lot of—we know for a fact there's about 100 ISIS terrorists back in this country.
00:25:11.980 Yes.
00:25:12.300 We know Omar Khad is back in this country.
00:25:14.160 We know Adil Charkawi is in this country.
00:25:16.200 We know the Ahmed Rasama Millennium Bottom.
00:25:18.680 We know the Via Rail Bomber.
00:25:20.460 Almost about every month there's an Islam-linked terrorist act, but the media won't talk about this.
00:25:27.140 And we also know from earlier this month we've exported—forget about maple syrup and canola oil.
00:25:32.820 We've exported, I believe the number is around 300 Canadians that are acting out on the behalf of al-Qaeda and ISIS overseas.
00:25:41.560 Yeah.
00:25:42.260 And I'm impressed that that story was actually published.
00:25:45.100 It was published, Stuart Bell.
00:25:46.660 Correct.
00:25:46.880 From Global News, and I give him credit.
00:25:50.160 He isn't like the other 5P professionals who say, oh, there's no problem with radical Islam.
00:25:56.060 There's no problem with radical Sikh separatists.
00:25:58.840 The only problem is with xenophobic white people like you.
00:26:02.100 That's the official narrative of the CBC and the Liberal Party.
00:26:04.820 Congratulations to Stuart Bell for actually documenting the 300 terrorist attacks by Canadians.
00:26:10.000 And, you know, when it comes to the 5Ps, when it comes to academia—and I did a commentary on this myself earlier this month.
00:26:18.560 My son goes to Richmond Hill High School, so I received an email about the York Region District School Board conducting a Say No to Hate seminar.
00:26:28.360 And it was only one kind of hate.
00:26:30.880 Now, first of all, I was kind of lied to because it was, of course, the varietal of hate they were talking about was white supremacy.
00:26:39.120 And at first it was lied to because, oh, this is only going to be one in a series, you know.
00:26:44.900 So, yeah, there'll be Hindu hate, Sikh hate, Muslim hate, right?
00:26:47.980 That turned out to be bogus.
00:26:49.540 Also, it turns out the biggest form of hate-based crimes in York Region is anti-Semitism.
00:26:56.480 It gets tricky when you try to find out who does this kind of hateful group.
00:27:00.820 Yeah.
00:27:01.480 But anyway, you spin it.
00:27:03.060 So, anyways, here was a seminar, York Region District School Board, being headed up by Bernie Farber, who could never in his life utter the words radical Islam.
00:27:12.980 And yet the statistics—these are educators, Ezra—the statistics show that, I'm sorry, the greatest number of attacks carried out in the world today is in the name of Allah.
00:27:25.000 Yet we can't even talk about it.
00:27:27.180 And we come up with a straw man when we dismiss hate.
00:27:30.580 Yeah, and the thing is, you can tell people not to worry about things.
00:27:34.260 You can call people a phobe, a this-a-phobe or a that-a-phobe.
00:27:37.820 But if they're really worried about something, telling them to shut up about it, that not only doesn't alleviate their worry, it probably makes them more worried.
00:27:46.120 And it proves that they're thinking about something that's so terrifying that the government wants to silence discussion about it.
00:27:53.000 Telling someone who's worried about radical Islam, who's worried about either the violent terrorism or just the creep of Sharia law, saying not just don't worry, which might sound reassuring, but you're not allowed to worry.
00:28:08.500 You're not allowed to say you're worried.
00:28:11.160 You're not allowed to think thoughts of worry.
00:28:13.220 That makes people more worried.
00:28:16.960 And you keep doing that and you keep shrinking the bandwidth of the conversation you're allowed to have.
00:28:21.840 That will not end well.
00:28:23.200 I believe that there's a correlation between being allowed to ask questions and say things even rudely and offensively but freely and a correlation between being able to vent just with words and peace and a similar correlation between censorship and violence.
00:28:43.880 In Saudi Arabia, in Saudi Arabia, in Iran, in Yemen, in Syria, because they don't have political freedom, free speech, freedom of association, free media.
00:28:53.660 If someone's upset about the world, they have to act out wildly.
00:28:57.240 Whereas in the free West, you're allowed to vent and try and convince your fellow citizens.
00:29:01.160 If we move towards censorship and unofficial and unofficial censorship and people feel more and more frustrated that their real concerns and fears are not being taken care of, we will have more civil unrest.
00:29:14.860 And all these politicians who try to shut up legitimate questions are actually the cause of radicalization of Indigenous Canadians.
00:29:27.440 And we haven't seen that yet in Canada.
00:29:31.160 But I think, unfortunately, we will if the bandwidth of allowable conversations continue to be shrunk.
00:29:38.720 I should just say the Alberta election, they tried this.
00:29:41.440 Yes.
00:29:41.620 They tried calling anyone who's conservative a bigot, a neo-Nazi, this and that.
00:29:44.860 And it blew up in the face of the NDP.
00:29:47.040 Jason Kenney got 55%.
00:29:48.280 The NDP got 32%.
00:29:49.500 So I don't think it's quite working.
00:29:51.540 But, boy, they're trying.
00:29:52.820 Well, thank you so much, Ezra.
00:29:54.200 We've got to wrap it here.
00:29:55.060 And, you know, the commander is right, folks.
00:29:57.480 If it's not censorship, it's another form of quasi-censorship, which is rebranding.
00:30:03.400 How many times are we seeing acts of terrorism committed by Islamic extremists?
00:30:09.240 And it's not called Islamic extremism.
00:30:12.840 It's basically rebranded as mental illness extremism.
00:30:16.620 And that's another attack on the truth.
00:30:19.760 Keep it here.
00:30:20.300 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:30:22.360 When you think of superheroes, you think of prime human species, good-looking and fit to fight crime.
00:30:37.040 And as you know, the comic book industry and the SJW fans are obsessed with changing our beloved characters.
00:30:43.460 We are also aware of this trend of shaming fit bodies, like when Sadiq Khan banned the Beachbody posters.
00:30:50.860 But they're into promoting fat, unhealthy bodies as body positivity, like putting Tess Holliday on the cover of Cosmopolitan magazine.
00:31:00.740 So is it really a surprise that Bulimia.com and American Addiction Centers edited pictures of superheroes to show, quote,
00:31:09.740 more realistic bodies?
00:31:12.100 That's right.
00:31:12.840 Taking a closer look at some of the images, some of them still look fine to me.
00:31:17.100 I didn't notice much of a difference.
00:31:18.360 But some of them, like Batman, Iron Man, and Captain America, look plain fat.
00:31:23.360 And I didn't know that a dad bod is realistic for a crime-fighting superhero.
00:31:28.980 And I just want to point out, Bulimia.com.
00:31:32.860 Really?
00:31:33.460 Are they saying that to look as fit as a comic book superhero requires bulimia?
00:31:38.040 I mean, I know lots of people with natural bodies like the original images.
00:31:43.180 Heck, even I had the body of the original images.
00:31:45.880 And I ate everything, including pizza.
00:31:48.000 I mean, I'm from New York.
00:31:49.460 Holy re-imaging, Batman.
00:31:52.020 Isn't the superhero realm all about fantasy?
00:31:55.760 I mean, after all, we're talking about characters who have super strength and who can fly and who have super speed.
00:32:03.900 Yet there are some social justice warriors out there that want to make these superhero characters more realistic.
00:32:11.380 I mean, what is realistic about Superman or the Hulk to begin with?
00:32:17.100 Unbelievable.
00:32:18.640 And joining me now on this terrible path down the re-imaging road is our very own London-based superheroine, Martina Marcota.
00:32:29.540 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Martina.
00:32:31.180 Hello.
00:32:31.760 Thank you for having me, as always.
00:32:33.660 Well, thank you for being here.
00:32:34.940 And I got to tell you, watching your video made my blood boil like lava, man.
00:32:40.680 I mean, you know, Martina, I think the key thing, and as I said in my introduction, we are talking about a realm that is inherently driven by fantasy.
00:32:51.980 There are no green-skinned Goliaths who used to be a professor who got exposed to gamma rays.
00:32:59.340 There's nobody from Krypton, you know, leaping taller than a building because there's no such thing as the planet Krypton.
00:33:06.700 Why, then, is there this obsession amongst the usual suspects, my friend, in terms of making these fantastical characters more realistic in the first place?
00:33:19.140 Yeah, exactly.
00:33:21.420 I mean, that's the basis of it is like, okay, first thing is first, this is fantasy land, okay?
00:33:27.020 We're talking fantasy here.
00:33:28.860 And if we are talking fantasy and we're talking about crime fighters and, you know, these superhuman, now let's not forget, they're superhuman.
00:33:37.040 Sure, maybe someone like Batman is human, but he's wealthy and has all the time and money in the world and has a bunch of fun gadgets and he goes out and fights crime at night.
00:33:47.860 Don't you think he's probably going to hit the gym just a little bit, you know?
00:33:51.660 So it's like, no, having them be realistic, and I take offense to those images being realistic.
00:33:59.100 That's not realistic in my world.
00:34:00.640 But, you know, if I can interject, Martina, you raise a really good point when it comes to Batman because unlike so many other characters in the superhero universe, he is a mere mortal man, you know, that he's mastered martial arts.
00:34:14.520 He's obviously strong and agile.
00:34:16.520 But the thing is, if you were a mere mortal and you wanted to be a crime fighter at night, if you're carrying around, you know, 25 extra pounds like yours truly, you know, I'm going to fall to my death the first time I shoot a batarang.
00:34:33.180 Yeah, it's just not, talk about realistic, it's not realistic to have someone that goes out, fights crime, and has a dad bod.
00:34:41.260 I'm sorry, it's just not going to happen.
00:34:42.940 And I think they have, I mean, some of the men was the most ghastly thing in there.
00:34:47.600 I mean, I was a little offended with some of the women, and don't get me wrong, I think the first picture, you know, Batman had dad bod and Poison Ivy.
00:34:55.220 Poison Ivy looked good either way, you know?
00:34:56.940 She didn't really notice that she had a little bit more on her, but I was like, oh, okay, now I see it.
00:35:01.860 But as I flip through that article, I mean, I encourage you guys to check it out.
00:35:06.140 It is incredible, but the men were the most horrific part of it.
00:35:09.400 Did you see Iron Man?
00:35:11.000 Oh, you know, Martina.
00:35:14.000 Another mortal?
00:35:14.960 That makes no sense what they did to Iron Man.
00:35:17.860 First of all, let's think about this.
00:35:21.080 Iron Man is a mere mortal, but he wears a suit of armor.
00:35:25.420 So whether he is a Mr. Olympia contestant, or he's the proverbial 98-pound weakling,
00:35:31.980 the Iron Man armor should look exactly the same, because that's all prefabricated, yet they made the reimagined armor,
00:35:42.000 it looked like a 15-year-old boy that bought some Iron Man costume off the rack at a costume shop.
00:35:47.960 Right, and that's the thing, is like, okay, let's say the real Iron Man wasn't that much in shape,
00:35:53.920 but when he puts on an iron suit, you bet that iron suit's going to have, like, six-pack and, like, things like that.
00:36:00.920 And it's just absolutely ridiculous.
00:36:02.720 And the thing is, it's dangerous, too, because it was put out by, like, Bulimia.com,
00:36:06.760 an American, what was it, American Addiction Association or something,
00:36:11.700 and they were trying to create a conversation and try to make sure people had a positive body image
00:36:18.500 and don't look up to something that looks so perfect all the time.
00:36:22.000 And I think that's actually really dangerous.
00:36:24.400 I mean, you're encouraging them to be unhealthy.
00:36:27.880 You want children or, you know, whatever,
00:36:30.920 wanting to look at people that are physically fit and take care of themselves.
00:36:34.940 And it is realistic.
00:36:35.900 Go to any gym, go to any Instagram, you know, gym buff.
00:36:40.620 They're very fit, and they look just like those superheroes.
00:36:43.000 And someone on my Instagram made a really good point.
00:36:44.660 If they wanted to make them realistic and superheroes,
00:36:47.060 they should have had them, like, emulated after, like, real-life athletes
00:36:50.700 or someone to model after, because people do look like that.
00:36:54.420 They do.
00:36:55.380 I mean, if you put the investment and the time and you have the genetics,
00:37:00.480 you can achieve a classical superhero body.
00:37:04.800 But, you know, Martina, even when it comes to the so-called injection of realism,
00:37:12.040 you make the point in your video when you see the before and after reimagined Catwoman.
00:37:17.040 And they've made Catwoman, in your words, thicker, meaning, you know, a little more plump.
00:37:22.540 And listen, I love the plumpers out there.
00:37:25.440 Let me tell you, I'm not a fan of the supermodel skinny mini anorexic type.
00:37:31.320 But here's the thing.
00:37:32.700 In making her more plump at the same time as you said, they made her breasts smaller.
00:37:37.980 And that's not how weight gain on a woman works, correct?
00:37:43.220 No, it's not how it works.
00:37:44.680 I think I know what they were trying to do.
00:37:46.540 I think what they were trying to say is that realistic women don't really have big boobs like that.
00:37:51.500 And it's like, excuse me, what?
00:37:53.980 Because, you know, try to tell me that when I'm trying to run a few miles or, you know, do something.
00:38:01.800 Tell a bunch of women out.
00:38:02.780 There's plenty of women out there in the world that would be like, excuse me?
00:38:07.800 Yeah, women do have big boobs without plastic surgery.
00:38:11.140 It's a thing.
00:38:11.860 We have boobs.
00:38:12.540 And, you know, when I gain weight, I certainly get plumper everywhere.
00:38:16.380 So it was bizarre for me to see her be thicker, but then her boobs got smaller.
00:38:20.440 I was like, that's not the way it works.
00:38:21.940 I'm sorry.
00:38:22.880 And I also made it a point of like superheroes naturally aren't that model looking stick figure.
00:38:27.880 They actually have the thick thighs.
00:38:29.380 They are like thick looking.
00:38:31.060 So 100 percent, Martina.
00:38:34.240 And the other thing that you touched upon briefly is that we can look upon eating disorders in which you're getting unhealthily skinnier.
00:38:44.580 And, you know, that's a bad thing.
00:38:46.280 And you'll be recommended to seek out help and therapy.
00:38:50.040 But it doesn't work the other way, does it?
00:38:52.360 I mean, if you are becoming obese, and let's be honest, obesity will shorten your life.
00:38:57.780 You will get more diseases.
00:39:00.520 It will be harder for you to live.
00:39:03.360 It's not politically correct, is it, Martina, to say, listen, honey, you've gained some weight.
00:39:09.220 It looks like you're getting into the danger zone.
00:39:11.400 And I'm wondering why that is.
00:39:12.980 Is it just because America as a nation is just getting that much fatter so that that is the new normal?
00:39:21.800 Yeah.
00:39:22.100 I mean, you don't see an 80-year-old obese person, do you?
00:39:26.780 I mean, obese people don't really live that long.
00:39:30.100 So, I mean, it is a fact.
00:39:32.380 And I think even doctors are starting to get attacked if they make any suggestion otherwise.
00:39:38.680 But, yeah, it's socially acceptable to say, you know, you have an eating disorder and you should seek help.
00:39:47.440 But, God forbid, you are obese and someone tries to address that.
00:39:51.680 And I blame the, what is it, the body positivity movement.
00:39:55.900 That's what that whole movement is all about.
00:39:58.000 And that's the whole problem with this whole comic book thing is that instead of seeing something that is better than you or someone that has, you know, worked really hard,
00:40:11.860 it takes, you know, dedication and effort to accomplish something and be healthy and look great,
00:40:18.260 instead of aspiring to be that way, everyone else has to live by their rules and go, no, no, no, everything has to look like me.
00:40:26.720 So, that's lazy and it's very millennial.
00:40:30.320 And it's hypocritical.
00:40:31.800 And, Margini, we have to wrap here.
00:40:33.320 I just want to say, though, I thought the most egregious example of the reimagining, aside from Iron Man, of course,
00:40:39.300 and I couldn't believe my eyes with that one, but was Captain America, where basically, if anyone knows the origin story of Captain America,
00:40:46.740 he was a skinny, unfit guy that wanted to serve in the army but couldn't pass the physical,
00:40:53.240 he was the guinea pig for the super soldier serum, and these dummies reimagined him as the guy who took the needle,
00:41:01.340 the guy who experienced the after effects of the serum.
00:41:05.040 It makes no sense to me, my friend.
00:41:08.600 Yeah, this is what they do.
00:41:10.320 Clown world.
00:41:11.100 I know, just ruining everything.
00:41:13.080 There ought to be, I hope one day there'll be someone brave enough to write a comic about a social justice warrior superhero.
00:41:20.160 It'll last three issues, probably, and it'll be a disaster.
00:41:24.200 Martina, great commentary.
00:41:25.800 Thank you for weighing in on that.
00:41:27.640 Thanks for having me.
00:41:28.560 You got it.
00:41:29.580 And, folks, keep it here.
00:41:30.520 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:41:32.720 Hey, how you doing, sir?
00:41:43.100 Oh, we can't be?
00:41:44.060 No.
00:41:44.360 Thank you.
00:41:44.660 Oh, who are you?
00:41:45.440 Thank you.
00:41:45.960 Hands off the camera.
00:41:46.700 Who are you?
00:41:47.640 Who are you?
00:41:48.020 You get to get out of the stores.
00:41:49.320 Thank you.
00:41:50.620 You know, I'll tell you what.
00:41:51.620 Listen, I'll tell you what I'm going to do for you.
00:41:54.100 You let us film inside the store.
00:41:56.140 I got a $25 Loblaw Companies gift coupon for you.
00:42:00.920 It's a gift card.
00:42:01.500 We're at the store, sir.
00:42:02.000 We can't be doing this.
00:42:02.640 This is what you gave.
00:42:03.960 We can't be doing this.
00:42:04.460 Why not?
00:42:04.900 Thank you.
00:42:05.340 I appreciate that.
00:42:06.080 Let's go.
00:42:06.520 But you can't be marking up the price of bread either, right?
00:42:09.600 And you did it for 15 years.
00:42:11.400 Let's get out of the store.
00:42:12.580 Well, I'll tell you what.
00:42:13.400 So how about that?
00:42:14.060 I give you a gift card.
00:42:15.300 Here.
00:42:15.740 25 smackers.
00:42:17.880 Right?
00:42:19.340 No?
00:42:20.000 Are you going to think about it, or what do you think?
00:42:22.700 No?
00:42:22.980 Well, folks, as you can see, there's somebody wearing a Wendell Clark Toronto Maple Leafs jersey.
00:42:31.440 He's trying to grab our camera.
00:42:32.820 I know, two minutes for looking so good, right?
00:42:36.340 But I'm trying to give this guy a $25 gift card.
00:42:41.500 If he'll go away, that's what Loblaws gave consumers that they were ripping off for 15 years.
00:42:48.740 So where did Wendell go?
00:42:51.720 So, Mr. Clark, would you like a $25 gift card?
00:42:55.400 Well, talk about a cleanup in aisle five when we ventured into Loblaws' Toronto flagship store earlier this week
00:43:01.940 to garner more signatures for our petition.
00:43:05.620 Loblaw management types and whoever that guy was in the Leafs jersey, well, they weren't happy to see us.
00:43:12.020 As for Loblaw customers, that was a different story.
00:43:15.800 They were only too happy to sign our petition, buyyourownfridges.com.
00:43:21.140 After all, Loblaw Companies Limited is a multi-billion dollar conglomerate.
00:43:26.320 But they aren't a very good corporate citizen taking part in a bread price-fixing scheme that actually went on for some 15 years.
00:43:35.200 So the question is, why indeed should such a company receive a $12 million taxpayer-funded welfare check for new refrigeration?
00:43:45.800 And here's what some of you had to say.
00:43:48.300 Al Chakabarra writes,
00:43:50.200 LOL, the whole time I was waiting for a soy boy manager to come over and start squawking about filming in the store.
00:43:57.680 Oh, he and other employees did complain about filming in the store, even though there are surveillance cameras everywhere, of course.
00:44:04.480 By the way, Loblaw has formally complained to YouTube to get the video removed.
00:44:10.920 So how does that old adage go again regarding crimes and cover-ups?
00:44:16.960 Pamela Kingwell writes,
00:44:18.360 Hey, I hear you, Pamela.
00:44:24.840 I'm now shopping at my local Longos instead.
00:44:28.340 But the fact is, some Canadians in certain communities simply don't have the ability to move their grocery shopping business elsewhere.
00:44:36.880 Indeed, just consider that Loblaw also owns stores under such banners as No Frills, Fortino's, The Great Canadian Superstore, and others.
00:44:45.960 But if you can switch to another grocer, I see no reason not to, given this company's odious behavior.
00:44:55.580 And Mohamed TikTok Kaboom writes,
00:44:59.240 I'm surprised Loblaws didn't chase you out of the store.
00:45:01.980 Well, actually, Mr. Kaboom, they did phone the police, but after that call went through, we were still getting customers to sign a petition for well over an hour.
00:45:12.720 And get this, Toronto Police Headquarters is just a three-minute walk away from this particular Loblaw store.
00:45:19.660 So I guess Toronto's finest didn't want to do the bidding of a company that breaks the law in terms of price-fixing.
00:45:27.480 And if that is indeed the case, then Hogtown's cops are tops.
00:45:33.400 And Aviator writes,
00:45:34.720 How about $12 million for veterans in need?
00:45:37.500 Oh, Aviator, how dare you?
00:45:39.700 Hasn't our Prime Minister already adroitly noted that our vets are asking for too much?
00:45:45.200 Meanwhile, looks like there's plenty of cash in the till for multi-billion dollar conglomerates that want to do some environmental virtue signaling.
00:45:54.560 And Terry Greening writes,
00:45:56.500 Hey, I need $1,500 for a new fridge. Where do I apply?
00:46:00.860 Terry, if you don't have Liberal Ties, I would suggest you visit your local Leon store and apply for the Don't Pay a Cent deferred payment program for your fridge.
00:46:11.060 Well, of course, you will eventually have to pay that entire $1,500 back to the store.
00:46:17.600 Whereas the billionaire Weston family gets to pocket that $12 million worth of taxpayer money forever.
00:46:24.660 Besides, I heard Galen Weston is in the market for a new mansion this year.
00:46:29.660 Well, that wraps up another edition of Rebel Roundup.
00:46:32.580 Thanks so much for joining us. See you next week.
00:46:34.740 And hey folks, never forget, without risk, there can be no glory.
00:46:38.420 Good night.
00:46:41.060 We'll see you next week.
