00:01:14.720 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, ladies and gentlemen, and the rest of you,
00:01:33.120 in which we look back at some of the very best commentaries of the week by your favourite rebels.
00:01:37.720 I'm your host, David Menzies.
00:01:39.360 We have brought you so many stories of citizens unduly victimized by the coronavirus cops
00:01:46.300 in our Fight the Fine series as law enforcement cracks down on alleged social distancing violations.
00:01:54.080 But, oh, Sheila Gunn-Reed has a tale from New Brunswick
00:01:57.620 that is surely the most egregious case to date, equal parts baffling and infuriating.
00:02:03.780 Trust me, folks, you don't want to miss this story.
00:02:07.020 And say, folks, what do you get when you do a series of streeters about guns and gun laws
00:02:13.460 at the corner of Yonge and Dundas in downtown Toronto?
00:02:17.280 Well, you get this. You get unintentional humour.
00:02:21.620 Our newest rebel, Andrew, says he'll be dropping by to talk about how some urban Canadians
00:02:27.960 feel about firearms and Justin Trudeau's gun grab.
00:02:32.980 And finally, letters. We get your letters. We get your letters every minute of every day.
00:02:38.440 And I'll share some of your responses regarding yet another protest.
00:02:42.020 Protest number four, actually, on the lawns of Queen's Park last Saturday
00:02:46.360 by individuals who just want to get back to work or back to school.
00:02:52.060 But get this, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, apparently channeling Marie Antoinette,
00:02:56.980 he'd rather these people stay at home and bake cheesecake.
00:03:02.120 Oh, it's true. It's true.
00:03:04.540 This Wuhan virus epidemic just gets weirder and weirder.
00:03:08.740 Those are your rebels. Now let's round them up.
00:03:16.280 Today I want to introduce you to Walter Matheson from New Brunswick.
00:03:20.180 He received a nearly $300 ticket.
00:03:23.020 His crime? Sitting alone, in his car, in a Tim Hortons parking lot
00:03:28.640 while he finished his muffin and coffee before carrying on his day
00:03:32.160 for failure to comply with the direction of emergency measures.
00:03:36.800 But Walter is obviously a quick thinker because he did something many journalists
00:03:41.420 wouldn't think to do, let alone normal people just minding their own business
00:03:44.420 trying to wash down a muffin with a double-double in a parking lot
00:03:48.260 completely alone in one's own car.
00:03:50.480 Walter started recording the audio on his phone.
00:03:54.380 So while we don't have a video of what happened to Walter,
00:03:56.800 we do have the audio of his interaction with the police officer.
00:04:00.540 There's a lot of dead air as Walter politely waits for the cop to ticket him,
00:04:04.240 so we just cut that out for brevity.
00:04:06.540 But you can hear for yourself.
00:04:08.200 Walter isn't rude. He actually jokes with the cop.
00:04:10.860 And the cop goes from jovial to angry, nearly immediately with Walter,
00:04:15.100 the moment Walter wanted just a little bit of clarity from him.
00:04:19.300 Just listen.
00:04:20.320 How you doing?
00:04:21.440 Not too bad.
00:04:22.600 Good, good.
00:04:24.040 Tim Hortons has asked me to move people from the parking lot here.
00:04:26.640 Really?
00:04:27.000 Okay. I know you're by yourself and all that,
00:04:28.840 but what it does is it's letting the teens see what happens
00:04:31.320 and then they all start hanging out here later on.
00:04:33.460 No, I don't believe that.
00:04:34.060 And Tim Hortons, pardon me?
00:04:34.880 I don't believe that.
00:04:36.020 You don't believe the teens will do that?
00:04:37.480 That's their opinion.
00:04:39.680 No, that's true, but they have asked and it is up to them to do it.
00:04:42.220 This country is still a free country.
00:04:44.120 Okay, if you don't move, I'm going to give you a $292 ticket.
00:04:46.260 Is that right?
00:04:46.840 Yes.
00:04:47.200 For doing what?
00:04:48.560 For not moving in compliance to what I'm saying.
00:04:50.720 I'm trying to be nice to you.
00:04:51.580 That's not a law.
00:04:52.180 License, please.
00:04:54.660 License, please.
00:04:55.220 No, I'll owe you.
00:04:56.240 Then leave now.
00:04:57.440 Okay.
00:04:58.100 I was nice to you.
00:04:59.020 I gave you a chance.
00:05:00.040 Get out.
00:05:01.020 If I catch you back here, it will be a $292 ticket.
00:05:03.220 What's your name, sir?
00:05:04.300 Constable John Thompson.
00:05:05.340 Okay, thank you, John.
00:05:06.540 Okay.
00:05:07.240 I would still like to see your driver's license, though.
00:05:09.040 Well, I'm okay.
00:05:09.980 No, I would like to see it, sir.
00:05:12.180 Stop right there.
00:05:14.420 Driver's license.
00:05:15.640 Just a minute.
00:05:16.120 I'll back up.
00:05:17.080 Doesn't matter.
00:05:17.600 You don't have to.
00:05:18.080 You stop right where you are.
00:05:19.760 How long is this going to go on?
00:05:21.340 I have no idea.
00:05:22.540 No idea.
00:05:24.040 I don't like it any more than you do, but I'm doing a job.
00:05:26.520 I'll be right back.
00:05:28.920 Okay, sir.
00:05:29.380 I was nice to you.
00:05:30.140 I asked you to leave.
00:05:31.240 You gave me a hard time.
00:05:32.420 So now you're getting a ticket.
00:05:33.260 I didn't give you a hard time.
00:05:33.600 Under the failure to comply with the direction of the Emergency Measures Act.
00:05:36.500 Yes, you did, sir.
00:05:37.340 Okay?
00:05:38.020 You didn't want to leave.
00:05:39.040 Don't try arguing now.
00:05:39.820 If you want to take it up with something, you can take it up with a sergeant.
00:05:41.320 At the office.
00:05:42.640 I'm not dealing with you.
00:05:43.600 Or you can go to court.
00:05:44.420 You can contest it.
00:05:45.640 Okay?
00:05:45.900 When the court paid?
00:05:46.500 $292.50.
00:05:48.120 You can pay it at any service in New Brunswick.
00:05:49.520 You can pay it online.
00:05:50.680 Oh, I'm not going to pay it.
00:05:51.640 Do you want it on court?
00:05:52.380 Do you want to go to court in English or in French?
00:05:54.600 I'm English.
00:05:55.520 Do you want it in English?
00:05:56.700 Of course I do.
00:05:57.820 Okay.
00:05:59.160 You have your driver's license back.
00:06:00.460 Thank you very much.
00:06:01.000 I'm going to get you to sign here.
00:06:01.820 It's not admitting guilt.
00:06:02.680 Just have explained it to you.
00:06:03.540 I'm not going to sign you, sir.
00:06:04.880 Refuse to sign.
00:06:05.820 It still stands.
00:06:06.880 Even if you don't sign.
00:06:08.240 Okay?
00:06:09.240 If you come back here, you will now be trespassing.
00:06:12.520 Excuse me?
00:06:13.380 If you come back, you will now be trespassing.
00:06:15.540 Does that include every Tim Hortons in town?
00:06:17.580 No, that's just one here in Hampton.
00:06:19.040 Just this one.
00:06:19.760 Just this one.
00:06:20.380 So if you come back, you're trespassing.
00:06:22.280 There's your ticket.
00:06:23.500 Leave the parking lot now, sir.
00:06:24.860 Let's get another one.
00:06:25.620 Next one goes up to $1,000.
00:06:27.460 Really?
00:06:28.180 Yes.
00:06:28.820 You can get up to $10,000 for this.
00:06:30.260 How many have you given out today?
00:06:31.640 You're the first.
00:06:33.100 Well, I feel so good about that.
00:06:35.160 You're the first.
00:06:35.800 You're the first out for one, Matt.
00:06:37.520 Thank you very much.
00:06:39.040 Since we kicked off our Fight the Fines campaign last month, we have brought you so many egregious
00:06:44.580 stories about people having their civil liberties throttled by the so-called pandemic police and
00:06:51.000 the coronavirus cops.
00:06:53.160 But folks, the case of Walter Matheson surely ranks as the most egregious one of all.
00:06:59.420 I mean, just look at the facts of the matter.
00:07:01.320 Matheson is ordered by the police to leave a Timmy's parking lot.
00:07:06.800 Matheson starts to comply.
00:07:09.100 Then Matheson is stopped by the cop from complying and ultimately receives a hefty fine for failure
00:07:17.640 to comply.
00:07:18.980 Hey, folks, not even Monty Python could have dreamed up a sketch this surreal.
00:07:23.900 And with more on this story is Sheila Gunn-Reed.
00:07:27.480 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, my friend.
00:07:29.040 Hey, David.
00:07:30.360 Thanks for having me on the show.
00:07:31.480 It's always a pleasure.
00:07:32.500 So, Sheila, as I said, I really think this is the most outrageous Fight the Fines case
00:07:37.780 we've aired to date.
00:07:39.340 Now, Walter is going to be represented by our legal eagle, Sam Goldstein.
00:07:44.360 But I would argue we could send a chimp in a suit to represent Mr. Matheson and it would
00:07:49.100 be a slam dunk.
00:07:50.480 What are your thoughts on this, Sheila?
00:07:52.900 This is probably one of the craziest stories yet.
00:07:56.020 I mean, we've seen some crazy stories like the story of Bridget Carlson, the North Bay
00:08:00.760 mom who got a ticket for pushing her daughter in a swing in an empty playground and was searched
00:08:08.760 under her clothes and handcuffed and stuffed in a cop car.
00:08:12.660 But this one, I mean, that's bad.
00:08:15.220 This is as ridiculous as that one is bad.
00:08:18.600 Because from the very beginning, Mr. Matheson is doing his best to be safe and follow the
00:08:24.960 law.
00:08:25.520 He was finishing his coffee and his muffin in the Tim Hortons parking lot after he had
00:08:29.600 gone through the drive-thru because he didn't want to eat and drive because that's unsafe
00:08:34.840 and that's how you get a ticket.
00:08:37.020 That's distracted driving.
00:08:38.880 So he parks in the Tim Hortons parking lot.
00:08:41.280 But there's no signage up telling him he can't be there.
00:08:44.980 But the cops who may or may not have been incidentally at the Tim Hortons, as cops tend
00:08:50.020 to be, this one cop came over and asked him to leave.
00:08:55.800 Walter is complying, but also questioning the absurdity of it all.
00:09:01.440 And Walter says, well, it's a free country.
00:09:03.360 And that's right when the cop just got right off the rev limiter.
00:09:06.900 And the excuse the cop gave for having Mr. Matheson move along was one of the dumbest
00:09:13.960 things that I have ever heard a cop say to anybody in my life.
00:09:18.540 That Walter, a retired man, eating a muffin alone in his car in a Tim Hortons parking lot
00:09:25.580 is going to attract teenagers to congregate in the parking lot because nothing brings out
00:09:34.460 the skateboard kids like an old guy sitting alone in his car eating a muffin.
00:09:38.560 It's crazy.
00:09:39.760 It's surreal.
00:09:40.320 But you know, Sheila, you touched upon something else in the audio that Mr. Matheson, thank
00:09:46.040 goodness, recorded because otherwise it's just another he said, he said kind of story.
00:09:51.440 But when the constable comes up to him, he seems almost jovial.
00:09:56.720 He seems like the kind of cop that I really like to engage in if I'm going to get a speeding
00:10:01.620 ticket or what have you.
00:10:02.940 He's not heavy handed.
00:10:04.400 And then he goes from almost jovial to maniacal.
00:10:09.740 He like is enraged.
00:10:12.380 And Mr. Matheson is not dropping F-bombs on him.
00:10:17.140 He's not putting up any kind of a, you know, a fight.
00:10:22.340 Sheila, how did this cop go from, you know, zero to 60 on the rage meter so quickly?
00:10:29.240 Well, it comes from Walter questioning the, I don't know if the legitimacy of the law is
00:10:39.240 the right word, but Walter pointed out just how absurd it was that he was threatened with
00:10:44.820 a ticket for eating a muffin alone in a parking lot.
00:10:47.480 Like how is eating a muffin alone inside your car with the windows rolled up any risk to
00:10:52.900 public health?
00:10:54.080 And so Walter did mention that to the cop.
00:10:56.540 He said, well, it's still a free country.
00:10:58.040 And that the cop just turned.
00:10:59.520 The mood of the whole interaction changed.
00:11:03.340 Walter was leaving.
00:11:05.180 The cop stopped him.
00:11:06.600 And then takes his driver's license and then gives Walter a ticket for not complying with
00:11:14.040 the peace officer's order to leave and not applying, not complying with the Emergency
00:11:20.600 Measures Act, which Walter was trying to do.
00:11:23.840 He was trying to leave and the cop stopped him.
00:11:26.420 And that's not the, well, that is pretty bad.
00:11:29.140 But I mean, the cop was also insulting.
00:11:32.980 He was swearing at Walter.
00:11:34.520 Walter wasn't swearing at him.
00:11:36.200 Walter wasn't at anything more than, you know, a guy getting a $300 ticket.
00:11:41.880 But this cop, he took it really personally that Walter pushed back.
00:11:46.420 Yeah, when he called him an a-hole, that really rattled me, Sheila.
00:11:50.600 I mean, I've never seen a cop act so unprofessionally over such small potatoes in the grand scheme
00:11:57.260 of things.
00:11:58.200 But, you know, Sheila, the other thing I don't understand, too, and you touched upon it, is
00:12:03.480 the safety issue.
00:12:04.520 I think the most unsafe part of this interaction, if you believe that the Wuhan virus is as contagious
00:12:10.780 as some are saying, was merely the interaction of the cop and Walter, which never would have
00:12:16.200 happened if the cop hadn't approached Walter.
00:12:18.380 But we see, I mean, I've seen stories in the last couple of weeks about the revival of the
00:12:24.120 drive-in movie theater.
00:12:25.120 Because here's a safe way to see Hollywood films.
00:12:28.320 You stay as a family in your car.
00:12:30.300 We recently had Premier Doug Ford in this province say that drive-in church services are now okay.
00:12:36.940 So the Church of God in Elmer, Ontario doesn't have to be worried about receiving fines.
00:12:42.240 So in other words, getting into a parking lot, staying in your vehicle with the windows rolled up,
00:12:48.320 whether it's a movie and now a church service is okay, but it's not okay to eat a muffin, have a coffee?
00:12:54.580 This makes no sense, Sheila.
00:12:55.820 Well, that's one of the things the lawyer Sam Goldstein pointed out to me, is these things are so absurd
00:13:02.380 and they're changing so fast.
00:13:04.440 One day they're strict, the next day they're not as strict, then they go back to being strict again.
00:13:08.920 They're changing so fast that you can't expect just a lay person doing their best to follow the rules,
00:13:18.020 doing their best to be safe and comply with these public health orders.
00:13:22.360 You can't even expect them to know what the rules are anymore because they change day to day.
00:13:27.600 How is Walter to know that he can't park in a parking lot and eat a muffin?
00:13:32.540 Because nobody in their right mind would think that that should be illegal.
00:13:35.900 But the police officer did and ticketed Walter for it.
00:13:41.460 Wow. Well, Sheila, I got to tell you, when things get back to normal,
00:13:45.800 there's going to be a fight in the office about who gets to cover the case if it goes to trial.
00:13:51.400 But it's your story and I know you'll do a superb job.
00:13:54.180 But Sheila, thank you so much for bringing to light, like I said,
00:13:58.620 the most egregious and most surreal Wuhan virus ticket that we've seen to date.
00:14:04.320 Thank you so much again.
00:14:06.680 Thanks, David. Have a great weekend.
00:14:08.200 You too.
00:14:09.140 And that was Sheila Gunn-Reed way up in the northern hinterland of Alberta.
00:14:14.180 Keep it here, folks.
00:14:15.360 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:14:17.660 Hey, guys, this is Andrew Says, the most censored YouTuber in Canada here at Yonge and Dundas Square.
00:14:27.660 We're asking people about the assault weapons ban, the assault rifle ban, the list of 1,500 prohibited firearms that Justin Trudeau just put into legislation.
00:14:35.400 We're here to ask everybody, are you for it? Are you against it? Do they even know what an assault rifle is?
00:14:39.780 Let's show you how it's done.
00:14:41.300 Today we're asking people about the assault weapons ban that Justin Trudeau announced. Would you be for or against that? Don't know anything about it?
00:14:48.940 I don't know anything about it.
00:14:51.060 Okay.
00:14:52.560 Wow. Well, I think it's a, so I think it's a great idea.
00:14:56.720 For me, it's like, it should be illegal to have arms because we don't need it.
00:15:03.100 Are you for or against that?
00:15:05.340 I'm always against that.
00:15:06.700 I mean, I think it's, the crime rate has gone up in Toronto, so all the guns, they should keep away.
00:15:13.220 Whether you're for the ban or against it?
00:15:15.940 Against.
00:15:16.840 I'm for it.
00:15:17.840 Okay, can you explain why?
00:15:18.660 Yeah, because there's far too many people that are irrational and they shouldn't be carrying a gun, especially criminals.
00:15:26.720 So, I'm all for stopping crime and gun crime especially, but I'm just not sure how an assault weapons ban does anything when there's not really a problem with that particular weapon.
00:15:37.060 I still think that all guns should be banned regardless whether they're rifles or anything else.
00:15:42.280 I mean, the crime rate has gone up in Toronto and Canada as well, so, I mean, I think they should ban.
00:15:48.600 Assault ban? I think that, I'm for it.
00:15:50.740 You're for it?
00:15:51.400 Yeah.
00:15:51.680 And why is that?
00:15:52.300 Well, there's, well, considering hearing that shooting from Nova Scotia, I think that was Nova Scotia.
00:15:59.260 Weren't those illegally obtained guns, though?
00:16:01.940 I'm not sure.
00:16:02.640 I don't know the full story of it.
00:16:04.440 I only heard the story.
00:16:06.100 I would be against the ban.
00:16:07.900 You're against the ban?
00:16:08.740 I'm against, yes.
00:16:09.520 Can you tell us why?
00:16:10.400 I think we should have a right to protect ourselves.
00:16:15.360 I mean, as a female, I wouldn't mind to have a gun in my residence just in case, and if it's licensed, I would have to pass certain tests.
00:16:24.660 Also, I'm a defense counsel, so I'm a lot more pro-civil liberties, I would say, so that's just my opinion.
00:16:31.060 You don't think it'd be good to keep it out of people's hands?
00:16:33.980 No, because it's a black market.
00:16:35.760 It's come from U.S.
00:16:36.600 It doesn't matter.
00:16:37.400 You ban it here.
00:16:38.220 It's a lot of, I mean, 80% of the assault is come from black market from U.S. border.
00:16:43.880 So as long as U.S. as a constitution writes, they carry on the ban.
00:16:49.520 I mean, that's the weapon.
00:16:52.160 Canada cannot do anything.
00:16:53.780 Do you mind me asking where you're from?
00:16:55.340 I'm Persian from Iran.
00:16:56.620 Well, folks, as the saying goes, never let a good crisis go to waste, and that certainly seems to be the mantra of the Justin Trudeau liberals during these dark days of the Wuhan virus and all the precautions that we're living under.
00:17:11.200 Indeed, just look a few weeks ago at that odious ordering council.
00:17:15.640 Some 1,500 firearms just like that are going to be illegal within the space of two years because, hey, that's how Justin Trudeau rolls.
00:17:25.020 Who's got time for all that messy democracy stuff when it comes to clamping down on legal gun owners?
00:17:33.260 And without further ado, let me introduce one of our newest rebels here at Rebel World Command Headquarters here in Toronto.
00:17:41.820 It is Andrew Says.
00:17:43.400 Welcome to Rebel Roundup, Andrew.
00:17:45.100 Thank you, David.
00:17:45.800 I didn't know this was a command center.
00:17:47.620 Now I know.
00:17:48.400 Looking for the torpedoes.
00:17:50.160 And the person giving the commands is Ezra.
00:17:52.400 If you don't obey Ezra, you're going to be in a lot of trouble.
00:17:55.120 But seriously, it was very perversely amusing to see you go out onto the streets of Toronto.
00:18:03.900 In fact, it was, I think, unintentionally funny.
00:18:06.960 But the subtext here, Andrew, is that there's a great divide, isn't there, between those in the gun community that know guns, understand guns, are responsible with guns, and many people who don't have a clue.
00:18:23.380 I mean, like that gentleman you interviewed, he seems like a kind enough guy.
00:18:27.520 But my goodness, thinking that a .44 and a .38 refers to the number of bullets in the magazine as opposed to the caliber size.
00:18:36.020 What were your impressions walking away from that street or assignment?
00:18:39.660 Well, I was glad that people were at least honest and willing to have the conversation.
00:18:43.360 And I usually like to give, you know, whatever you want to call the other side, the benefit of the doubt in lots of topics.
00:18:48.580 But what you find is, especially in the gun debate, that there's really a low level of information and knowledge on the side that's opposed to people owning legal firearms.
00:18:58.700 I mean, like you said, the .44 means it has 44 bullets or it can shoot three blocks.
00:19:03.020 I've never heard anyone describe the range of a firearm being judged by blocks or football fields or anything like that.
00:19:10.020 And I think one of the most interesting parts about it was that a lot of the people who weren't from Canada were for the legal ownership of guns.
00:19:16.920 I think we had a Ukrainian lady, we had an Englishman, a Frenchman.
00:19:20.380 So people from other countries recognizing the need for self-defense, but not so much people in the country itself.
00:19:27.200 You know, you raise a very good point because I've noticed, especially going out in the last four weeks of the Queen's Park protests,
00:19:33.160 and continually meeting people from former Soviet bloc, Eastern European countries that were under the iron fist of the Soviet Union going back to the late 80s.
00:19:44.060 And they know what it's like to live under socialism or Marxism or communism.
00:19:49.840 They understand what it's like to get their liberties and freedoms taken away.
00:19:54.720 And they see what's going on here.
00:19:56.080 And I'm not trying to exaggerate anything, but once you see some fundamental rights and freedoms chipping away,
00:20:02.700 it doesn't take long before a whole lot of other ones go as well.
00:20:06.920 And they seem to be the most vociferous when it comes to demanding government get out of their lives.
00:20:13.380 Great vocabulary, first of all.
00:20:16.260 But it is kind of worrying how easily people are willing to give up their rights just because, I don't know,
00:20:21.980 politician X says so, speaks something into law at a press conference, for example.
00:20:26.580 And it is worrisome that you have people coming from other countries telling us things aren't going to go well if you continue down this path.
00:20:33.700 Now, having said that, if people want to wear masks, of course they're free to.
00:20:38.240 But if we get to the point where masks are mandatory, gloves are mandatory, which we're hearing on Conservative radio right now,
00:20:44.580 I think 1010 is talking about it, why not just wear a mask, everybody?
00:20:48.220 So why not just give up your rights?
00:20:49.760 I don't really understand it.
00:20:51.120 I think there needs to be at least some sort of pushback from the Canadian public on this.
00:20:55.680 Oh, I totally agree.
00:20:56.640 And you do see that pushback at those Queen Park protests, for sure.
00:20:59.780 And do we have an accurate number in terms of how big the gun community is in Canada?
00:21:05.960 Well, I'm no gun community expert, so I wouldn't know.
00:21:08.740 But I can tell you that we do get great responses.
00:21:11.440 If you want to email me, Andrew says at rebelnews.com, tell me about your gun events or anything like that.
00:21:17.280 But we do get a huge response from people whenever there's any sort of gun grab or gun legislation
00:21:22.620 or blaming a crime or a mass shooting on gun, legal gun owners.
00:21:27.720 So I can tell you that there's a strong backbone of people in Canada who are willing to stand up for their right to own firearms.
00:21:34.900 And I think there should be.
00:21:36.080 I think at some point you have to say what's the motive here,
00:21:39.100 especially when the gun ban is just a list of guns because you can't ban it based on its mechanics or its differences.
00:21:45.580 Yeah, you know, I'm not a gun owner myself, but I know people who are.
00:21:49.940 I've visited the Toronto Revolver Club.
00:21:52.200 I love them all.
00:21:54.420 They are responsible, wonderful citizens, and I hate to see them being victimized like this.
00:22:01.380 But I guess the point I'm getting at is that I assume that there are far fewer people that don't own guns than that do own guns.
00:22:11.500 And when you saw from that fellow's ignorance about what guns are, I think the Trudeau Liberals are banking on that.
00:22:20.360 They can do this kind of virtue signaling, and they know they're going to get away with it.
00:22:25.060 Well, if you can get people to stay inside for months at a time and shut down their businesses.
00:22:29.420 Like, we've been trying to get people to cut our hair, and nobody will do it because they're afraid of the social stigma.
00:22:34.600 They're afraid of the laws.
00:22:36.020 So if you can get people to do that just by, like, what I think is social media campaigns, then what's to stop them from doing other things is what I really want to know.
00:22:44.800 No, 100%.
00:22:46.020 Andrew, certainly when we run gun videos, there's a ton of views.
00:22:51.720 But in terms of the long game, do you see anything changing, you know, by 2022?
00:23:00.640 Or is this going to be the new reality that this Order and Council has just taken 1,500 guns, wiped them off the books as legal firearms, and that's just the way it's going to be in Canada moving forward?
00:23:14.080 Sadly, I think it's probably going to be the way it's going to be because in order to walk these laws back, you have to have a big pushback.
00:23:20.100 And then you have to have a majority of legislators pushing to get it back.
00:23:24.180 I mean, you could go, let's say, four, six years from now, whenever Justin Trudeau gets out, if he does get out, you guys.
00:23:31.580 Then you'd have to walk back the legislation.
00:23:34.060 But personally, I don't see that happening.
00:23:36.400 Has that happened with other things?
00:23:37.700 Can we just X out the ban because it doesn't make any sense?
00:23:40.900 I mean, I think when you bring an argument like that to the public, let's make more guns legal.
00:23:46.000 It leaves a bad taste in the regular swing voters.
00:23:48.880 It leaves a bad taste in their mouth.
00:23:50.920 So I think it's hard to walk those things back.
00:23:53.020 And I think that it's just a campaign promise that he's fulfilling that he knows he can easily get some broad support on.
00:24:00.060 Andrew, sadly, I think you're right.
00:24:01.260 We're going to have to wrap it there.
00:24:02.340 Thank you so much.
00:24:03.000 Those streeters were excellent from an unintentionally humorous perspective.
00:24:06.680 And, you know, folks, the sad thing about this gun grab is that at the end of the day, it's going to do nothing in terms of the gangbangers, the illegal gunrunners.
00:24:18.780 They're not going to follow these laws.
00:24:20.320 And the reason is they're criminals.
00:24:22.660 They're supposed to break laws.
00:24:24.640 It's all about going after the law-abiding duck hunter in Saskatchewan.
00:24:27.680 And as far as the gangbanger in the inner city is concerned, business as usual.
00:24:33.060 Just shameful and disgraceful.
00:24:35.100 Keep it here.
00:24:35.740 More of Rebel Roundup to come right after this.
00:24:37.920 David Menzies for Rebel News here in Toronto.
00:24:46.700 Well, folks, I'm back at Queen's Park where protest number four in a row has assembled.
00:24:53.380 We have Ontarians here that are asking the premier to be, oh, I don't know, treated like adults.
00:24:59.460 They want to go back to work.
00:25:01.140 They want to go back to school.
00:25:02.980 And the message essentially is open up the economy as in all of it, not just bits and pieces.
00:25:10.800 But when it comes to Premier Marie Antoinette, I mean Premier Doug Ford, he's saying, well, essentially, let them eat cake.
00:25:20.060 Or, I mean, let them make cherry cheesecake.
00:25:23.220 Here, check this out.
00:25:24.940 If I wasn't Premier, I'd open up the Cheesecake Factory.
00:25:28.040 Friends, stay safe, stay healthy.
00:25:30.400 And these are some of the fun things you can do when you're self-isolating.
00:25:36.660 Ho, ho.
00:25:38.000 Ho, ho.
00:25:39.420 Yeah, so that seems to be the premier's response in terms of handling a global pandemic.
00:25:44.800 For me, I like coming out in the great outdoors on a beautiful sunny spring day like this.
00:25:49.260 In any event, let's go in and talk to these protesters, see what they have to say.
00:25:54.280 You know, the people that the premier labeled three weeks ago as a bunch of yahoos.
00:26:04.880 Well, that was some magnificent dancing out there, ma'am.
00:26:08.180 What about you?
00:26:08.960 I want to see you dance now.
00:26:10.300 Oh, no.
00:26:10.700 White men can't jump and they can't dance either, I'll tell you that much.
00:26:14.040 So, your sign says free immune boosting hug.
00:26:18.260 Well, has anyone turned down your offer of a hug?
00:26:20.680 I don't know.
00:26:22.180 Can I have a hug?
00:26:23.740 Well, oh, Lady Menzoid, I'm so sorry.
00:26:29.400 Premier Doug Ford wants you to stay inside and bake a cherry cheesecake.
00:26:33.840 What do you think about that?
00:26:35.000 I don't know how to bake.
00:26:36.200 No, I'd rather be outside in the sun getting my vitamin D.
00:26:39.820 This is what's healthy for you.
00:26:41.400 Staying indoors is not.
00:26:42.500 Well, first of all, vitamin D has been proven to actually boost immunity along with all these
00:26:47.520 other things that they, I'm into holistic health, okay?
00:26:50.520 So, like, that's why when I get sick, I eat ginger, I eat garlic, I do stuff to boost my
00:26:55.300 immunity.
00:26:55.680 Nobody's talking about boosting immunity here.
00:26:57.580 They're all just resorting to vaccines and lockdowns and taking away our rights and making
00:27:02.020 us dependent on, like, the big corporations and the government.
00:27:05.000 Like, yeah, no.
00:27:06.220 Telling us to stay home when you're baking a cake with actual gloves, like he's afraid of
00:27:10.460 infecting himself or something, like...
00:27:12.120 Yeah, I'm not going to be in my kitchen baking no cherry cheesecakes.
00:27:15.020 Well, Yahoo Nation returned to Queen's Park last Saturday for protest number four.
00:27:19.420 It was the biggest turnout to date and the protesters were even more revved up than the previous
00:27:24.960 three protests.
00:27:25.640 And you may recall that after the first demonstration, Ontario Premier Doug Ford, well, he called these
00:27:32.760 people a bunch of yahoos, but these folks are simply taxpaying citizens who just want
00:27:39.380 to go back to work or go back to school.
00:27:42.060 What's so yahoo-ish about that?
00:27:44.280 The following week, the Premier actually called those bearing upside-down flags as being anti-military.
00:27:51.660 That's odd.
00:27:52.600 An upside-down flag is considered by many to be a universal symbol of distress.
00:27:58.200 Ford told those folks he'd even help them pack their bags and frog-march them out of the
00:28:03.420 country.
00:28:04.220 Jeez.
00:28:04.660 Well, more recently, Doug Ford seems to be channeling Marie Antoinette by advocating that
00:28:10.560 people stay indoors and make cheesecake.
00:28:15.160 Doug, I think Interrians are done with house arrest.
00:28:19.340 Will you just kindly reopen the economy, as in fully?
00:28:23.960 In any event, here's what some of you had to say.
00:28:26.600 Stephen Schertzer writes,
00:28:29.100 Rebel News, did you pull some of these people out of a circus?
00:28:32.680 Tattooed men, dancing girls, where is the three-legged man and the bearded lady?
00:28:38.040 What are you asking me to believe that these people are suffering?
00:28:41.200 Are you kidding me?
00:28:42.460 Sitting at home eating cheesecake while the government is sending them $2,000?
00:28:47.140 Oh, the suffering.
00:28:48.240 Oh, the torture of it all.
00:28:49.840 First world people and their first world problems.
00:28:52.540 Give me a break.
00:28:53.280 Well, Stephen, with all due respect, I think you've completely missed the point of these
00:28:58.000 protests.
00:28:59.120 The people on the grounds of Queen's Park don't want to sit at home eating cheesecake and getting
00:29:05.020 government handouts.
00:29:06.820 They want to go back to work, be they barbers or bakers or waiters.
00:29:12.660 And all that is required is some political will to unshackle this economy.
00:29:18.720 Doc Moe writes,
00:29:19.560 Anyone seen the movie, They Live?
00:29:22.520 That's the blank storm this is.
00:29:25.120 Obey.
00:29:26.040 Hey doc, I saw They Live.
00:29:27.900 Fun little B-movie, best line of all, uttered by the immortal Rowdy Roddy Piper.
00:29:32.980 I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum.
00:29:35.460 And I'm all out of bubblegum.
00:29:37.900 Silver Sadie writes,
00:29:39.220 I noticed that those from other countries have insight.
00:29:43.140 They know what's going on.
00:29:44.840 You know, great observation, Silver, especially those from the former Soviet republics in Eastern
00:29:50.280 Europe.
00:29:51.160 They know what it's like to have one's freedoms and liberties taken away.
00:29:54.540 And it ain't pretty.
00:29:55.840 And it is not something they want to experience on this side of the pond.
00:30:00.860 And Cutting Edge writes,
00:30:02.180 Well, that wraps up another edition of Rebel Roundup.
00:30:14.300 Thanks so much for joining us.
00:30:15.560 See you next week.
00:30:16.240 And hey folks, never forget, without risk, there can be no glory.
00:30:20.300 Good night.
00:30:20.740 Good night.
00:30:50.740 Good night.
