00:03:11.300 The Government of Canada announced new rules on international travel

00:03:14.760 in addition to the multi-layered approach on COVID-19 already in place.

00:03:19.660 The government and Canada's airlines have agreed to suspend all flights to and from Mexico

00:03:28.380 and Caribbean countries until April 30th, 2021.

00:03:32.740 This will be in effect as of January 31st, 2021.

00:03:37.100 The new restrictions will include scheduled commercial passenger flights

00:03:41.620 arriving from the United States, Mexico, Central America, the Caribbean, and South America,

00:03:48.740 which were exempted from the previous restrictions.

00:03:51.940 Private business and charter flights from all countries will also be required to land at the four airports

00:04:00.340 that are still taking international flights.

00:04:02.220 flights from St. Pierre-A-Miquelon and cargo-only flights will remain exempt.

00:04:09.100 As soon as possible in the coming weeks, all air travellers arriving in Canada,

00:04:14.940 with very limited exceptions, must reserve a room in a Government of Canada-approved hotel

00:04:22.160 for three nights at their own cost and take a COVID-19 molecular test on arrival at their own cost.

00:05:04.500 and authorized as screening officers under the Quarantine Act.

00:05:09.140 These screening officers will visit travellers' quarantine locations to establish contact,

00:05:16.840 confirm identity, and confirm that travellers are at the place of quarantine they identified

00:05:22.920 upon arrival into Canada.

00:05:25.480 These new officers will conduct visits in 35 cities across the country,

00:05:31.640 starting in Montreal and Toronto.
