Hello, my Rebels. Today I've got two things for you that I think you'll like. The first is
00:00:03.600
a very interesting court case out of the United Kingdom. It's a setback for woke censorship. I
00:00:10.600
enjoyed reading this one. You don't see a lot of good news, so I'll take you through the court case.
00:00:15.100
And after that, after my monologue, I'll play you some fun celebrity cameos from our staff meeting
00:00:24.080
last night where we had the Rebbe Awards, the Rebel Awards for best this and best that.
00:00:29.080
They're pretty fun, and some of them are from, you know, strangers who are celebrities and some
00:00:33.900
are from real friends. I think you'll get a kick out of it. You'll know their voices when you hear
00:00:39.960
them, but I think this is one of those times where having the video version of the podcast
00:00:45.100
really makes a difference. So I'd like to encourage you to go to rebelnews.com and click subscribe.
00:00:51.060
And just eight bucks a month, you get the video version of this podcast. And today you'll see
00:00:55.800
some real characters who joined us to make little video announcements. Anyhow, you'll understand
00:01:00.880
what I mean when you see it. Okay, here's today's show.
00:01:17.880
Tonight, a UK court pushes back on a transgender bully. It's December 18th, and this is the Ezra
00:01:25.420
LeVant Show. Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?
00:01:31.800
There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.
00:01:35.880
The only thing I have to say to the government about why I publish it is because it's my bloody
00:01:41.740
Hey, do you remember this video from a while back?
00:01:57.500
I can call the police if you'd like me to. You need to settle down.
00:02:00.120
You need to settle down and mind your business. Okay?
00:02:08.740
I actually said both of you guys. It was a general...
00:02:14.760
Take it outside. If you want to call me sir again, I will show you sir.
00:02:22.260
Some people might call that toxic masculinity, but I'm not sure if you can say that about
00:02:30.700
That's some kook in the United States. He reminds me a little bit of Jonathan Yaniv,
00:02:51.200
Okay, that's good. Give me a bruise. Give me another bruise.
00:03:15.600
What is it about some of these trans men that makes them so hyper-masculine in their rage,
00:03:23.680
There have been men who have dressed as women for a very long time, but only, I think, in
00:03:29.820
the past few years has it become such a hyper-aggressive political weapon, the rage, especially if you
00:03:38.160
You know, you have the human right to call yourself whatever.
00:03:42.120
If you want to call yourself a man or a woman or an attack helicopter, as the joke goes,
00:03:46.960
call yourself the king of Spain for all I care.
00:03:49.140
I mean, whatever floats your boat, but you don't have the power to tell me that I have
00:03:56.620
I might choose to call you whatever you call yourself for my own reasons, if I want to
00:04:06.940
Maybe I just don't care, but you don't have the right to command me to call you anything.
00:04:13.280
That's a counterfeit human right that violates my real human right, freedom of speech, freedom
00:04:21.900
You can't compel me to say or think or believe something.
00:04:29.240
On Twitter, for example, if you deadname or misgender a trans activist, you'll be suspended.
00:04:35.700
Talk about words that didn't exist until a moment ago.
00:04:38.280
So a deadname is a made-up word to describe the name a mother gave her little boy when
00:04:50.240
So if you call Jonathan Yaniv Jonathan Yaniv on Twitter, that's a thought crime and you'll
00:04:55.740
If you call him a him instead of a her, same thing.
00:05:02.880
So that's the madness of Silicon Valley and Twitter and tech companies and things like
00:05:09.720
These are companies that only exist because of freedom of expression, but they have taken
00:05:17.220
But look at this case out of the United Kingdom.
00:05:20.740
Victory in the war on woke judges landmark ruling in case of mother who called trans woman
00:05:27.120
he on Twitter means freedom of speech does include the right to offend.
00:05:32.880
Two judges have ruled that free speech encompasses offensive language.
00:05:37.280
Lord Justice Bean and Mr. Justice Warby presiding over a case in court of appeal.
00:05:44.200
Ruling came in successful appeal decided last week in favor of Kate Scotto, feminist prosecutor
00:05:51.980
for calling a transgender woman a man and pig in a wig.
00:05:57.260
She had been found guilty under the 2003 Communications Act this year.
00:06:07.300
He was one of the judges presiding over one of Tommy Robinson's many trials that I attended,
00:06:13.740
and he was decidedly less free speechy last time.
00:06:17.620
He was one of the judges who sent Tommy Robinson back to prison a second time for contempt of
00:06:25.320
court simply for reporting outside a rape gang trial.
00:06:30.100
Maybe he's had a change of heart, or maybe he just hated Tommy Robinson.
00:06:34.300
But let me read a little bit more from the Daily Mail.
00:06:38.780
Judges have insisted that freedom of speech includes the right to offend in a landmark ruling,
00:06:43.560
which could help to turn the tide on woke intolerance.
00:06:47.120
After a feminist who called a transgender woman a pig in a wig, and a man, man, was cleared.
00:06:56.480
Presiding over a case in the court of appeal, again, I don't think it was the court of appeal,
00:07:04.280
freedom only to speak inoffensively is not worth having.
00:07:07.460
They added that free speech encompasses the right to offend and, indeed, to abuse another.
00:07:13.840
The judgment from two senior members of the judiciary will set a precedent for future cases involving freedom of speech.
00:07:25.200
Look at the two people at the center of this fight.
00:07:28.780
The ruling has emerged only now, but came in the successful appeal decided last week in favor of mother of two,
00:07:34.820
Miss Scotto Wright, from Hitchin in Hertfordshire.
00:07:39.540
She was accused of describing a Stephanie Hayden, pictured left, a transgender woman,
00:07:44.160
as a pig in a wig, alongside a number of offensive and upsetting tweets.
00:07:56.840
You know, I mean, if someone called me a pig in a wig, I'd probably not a compliment, although it could be.
00:08:05.600
I think some would find it fair in the case of this Stephanie.
00:08:11.600
But let's be honest, it's pretty much a schoolyard insult.
00:08:20.500
Calling someone a pig on the hierarchy of insults,
00:08:23.340
I'm going to give that maybe like a three out of ten.
00:08:25.680
Calling people a pig, it means you're fat, really, right?
00:08:30.660
I mean, we use animal insults a lot, calling someone a dog or a rat.
00:08:35.760
I suppose they're technically dehumanizing because you're calling someone an animal, not a person.
00:08:40.180
I don't like it when people are dehumanized, like calling someone a louse, that's not a good one.
00:08:44.360
But, you know, calling someone a pig, it's not devastating.
00:08:56.800
They throw the C word around like confetti over there.
00:09:13.060
I don't think pig in a wig is that hurtful by comparison.
00:09:16.360
I'm going to chuckle at that because I happen to know from reading the article
00:09:21.580
and then reading the entire court judgment that the trans activist, the man calling himself a woman now,
00:09:38.840
Let me read more from the Daily Mail and then I'll quote from the ruling itself.
00:09:48.620
And taken from her children and into custody after referring to trans woman Stephanie Hayden as a man,
00:09:59.600
Ms. Hayden, 47, reported the online remarks to police.
00:10:08.860
The mum of two, she, had been arrested by three police officers in 2019 at her home in
00:10:14.220
Purton, near Hitchin, Hertfordshire, in front of her daughter, 10, and son, 20 months.
00:10:22.560
Boris Johnson later called it an abuse of power.
00:10:25.700
In February this year, radical feminist Ms. Scotto, 40, was handed a two-year conditional discharge
00:10:31.860
in order to pay a thousand pounds compensation with District Judge Margaret Dodds telling her,
00:10:41.000
We teach children to be kind to each other and not to call each other names in the playground.
00:10:45.200
So this mum of two was literally arrested in front of her kids, taken into custody.
00:10:50.680
For some mean tweets that aren't that mean, I think I might have said worse in my day.
00:11:05.380
Because they're children, so we can tell them what to do.
00:11:13.980
And we don't arrest adults or children for calling people a pig in a wig.
00:11:19.300
In fact, that sounds like it could be a really fun kid's book.
00:11:24.640
That's what the lower court judge said was the test.
00:11:27.060
Is that really the test for freedom of speech now?
00:11:29.540
If your conversation meets the approval of some judge, only then can you have your conversation?
00:11:42.760
But there are a few errors in here that I detected because I read the ruling for myself.
00:11:47.560
I wanted to see what Justice Warby had to say because I saw him in action in Tommy Robinson's case.
00:11:52.780
You can find the whole ruling pretty quickly online.
00:12:04.540
It's 22 pages of he said, she said bickering on Twitter.
00:12:11.680
And this Stephanie Hayden isn't some little lamb who was being attacked by a big bully mum of two.
00:12:20.520
This Hayden, I'm sorry, I'm not going to call him a girl.
00:12:24.360
He's a full-time bully and provocateur himself.
00:12:27.680
He's a Twitter warrior full of insults himself towards others.
00:12:32.120
Some of his tweets could even be called racist, which is why the mum said so.
00:12:37.340
But the first whiff of anyone resisting him, like he dishes it out.
00:12:42.400
But you speak back to him and deadname him and misgender him, he runs to court.
00:12:53.000
He really does remind me of Jonathan Yaniv that way, a bully, a cry bully.
00:12:59.540
Let me read to you a few lines from the judgment about this.
00:13:02.360
So these two were having some Twitter quarrel, you know?
00:13:07.780
But then get this, I'm reading from the judgment.
00:13:09.240
The 2019 messages did not do any of the things Hayden identified in her evidence as unacceptable.
00:13:20.560
The record shows that she did not regard what was said as in any way offensive or objectionable
00:13:25.440
until she discovered that Ms. Scotto was the pseudonymous author.
00:13:30.420
At that point, Ms. Hayden was angered to the point of contacting the police again.
00:13:34.680
Okay, I'm sorry it's confusing because they're calling both people she.
00:13:41.700
So the mum was writing a bunch of things on Twitter in 2019, all right?
00:13:46.600
But she was writing them under a pseudonym, like a made-up internet name.
00:13:52.400
So the mum was saying a bunch of things in 2019,
00:14:08.680
Until he discovered they were written by the mum.
00:14:11.160
And then he was filled with a mighty rage and called the cops and had her arrest.
00:14:19.960
And who did the police arrest and charge and convict?
00:14:36.060
On the 1st of December 2018, at the instigation of the West Yorkshire Police,
00:14:41.720
Police Constable Kitchen of the Hertfordshire Police,
00:14:45.820
arrested Ms. Scotto on suspicion of harassment and malicious communication.
00:14:52.360
She admitted the two Twitter accounts were hers and that she had posted the six tweets.
00:15:04.140
At the time of arrest, the officer seized Ms. Scotto's Samsung mobile phone and her Asus laptop.
00:15:12.300
The police, apparently expecting a guilty plea,
00:15:14.800
decided later on that downloading data from the phone or computer would be disproportionate and unnecessary.
00:15:20.900
Oh, so you were actually thinking of just literally downloading everything on her phone and her laptop
00:15:33.520
But if you think these cops are bad, look at this judge.
00:15:40.220
In early December 2018, Ms. Hayden, that's the transgender man,
00:15:48.980
against Ms. Scotto in the high court under action number QB, whatever.
00:15:53.840
On the 18th of December 2018, Ms. Hayden, that's the transgender man,
00:15:58.600
appeared before Jason Koppel, QC, sitting as a deputy judge,
00:16:02.680
and obtained an interim injunction prohibiting Ms. Scotto until trial or further order
00:16:10.320
from publishing, quote, any personal information relating to Ms. Hayden
00:16:17.820
as well as, more specifically, misgendering her on any social media platform,
00:16:25.560
her current female identity to her former male identity,
00:16:28.780
and anything stating or implying that she is a racist
00:16:32.980
or has published anything racist on any form of social media.
00:16:37.460
Ms. Scotto was neither present nor represented at the hearing when this order was made.
00:16:43.200
So literally banned by a judge on pain of prison, I guess, if Tommy's any precedent,
00:16:50.840
of calling a man a man, of referring to the fact that the man used to be a man
00:16:55.620
before calling himself a woman, of anything about the person,
00:17:03.180
of calling him a racist, even though she believes it were true.
00:17:05.520
And I saw some tweets in this judgment that suggested
00:17:09.040
maybe the transgender man is a bit of a racist,
00:17:12.600
but she's not even allowed to have that opinion.
00:17:19.100
And this pig in a wig, and I refer to his size,
00:17:21.900
but also his approach to dealing with his enemies,
00:17:28.200
he took to Twitter himself to brag about this victory in court.
00:17:33.260
Later the same day, Ms. Hayden posted four tweets
00:17:37.800
giving a summary, and tweeted a photo of the order,
00:17:46.020
So this trans activist isn't just someone private,
00:17:56.400
anyone who disagrees with him or even insults him.
00:18:02.980
Twitter has a block button, you know what I mean?
00:18:12.820
I mean, I probably block five different people a day
00:18:21.980
I don't need the shouting in my ears, so to speak.
00:18:40.260
But this pig in a wig wouldn't just push that block button
00:18:55.240
He got the police and the judges to bully his enemy,
00:18:59.860
Feminist women are women who say that only women are women.
00:19:04.760
Feminist women are women who say it's unfair for men
00:19:07.400
to, let's say, compete against women in women's sports,
00:19:21.240
So far, the trans men are winning these battles.
00:19:25.500
Maybe this court case is a small setback for them
00:19:48.400
It's Friday, and you know normally we interview a guest every show,
00:19:56.280
and we invited some of our talent from Calgary, Edmonton, and Vancouver
00:20:02.360
So it was like a staff meeting plus a couple of our talent in the field,
00:20:05.940
and we had what I hope becomes an annual affair,
00:20:13.600
So it was awards for different people in our team who did a great job.
00:20:29.740
We only revealed the result last night to the whole team.
00:20:37.680
I invited different personalities to give little video shout-outs
00:20:44.600
to Rebel News and to the winners of some of the prizes.
00:20:49.060
I'm not going to play all of these little video shout-outs to you
00:20:52.440
because I think in total there were about 11 videos.
00:21:05.960
Others are just celebrities that you can, you know,
00:21:08.280
ask them to do a birthday greeting or whatever,
00:21:10.760
and they do it as part of, you know, their job, I guess.
00:21:58.840
but it was still super fun to have Don give us a shout-out.
00:22:02.240
Now, one of the awards was for our VP of Operations here,
00:22:07.020
and he didn't know he was going to get the prize,
00:22:20.300
Aitan, you got the Rebel News Problem Solver Award.
00:22:29.980
Fantastic for your company and for the community.
00:23:02.460
That's one of the characteristics of leadership,
00:23:41.560
I just want to spread some positive loves and vibes
00:24:51.600
He's hardworking and stands up for the little people
00:25:09.240
especially when he's co-hosting this show with Sheila.
00:25:25.960
In case you're looking for someone to take David's place.
00:25:40.160
we had an award last night called the Team Player Award.
00:25:44.460
Who do you think is the best team player here at Rebel News?
00:25:47.880
to tell us about it and to announce it to our team last night
00:26:07.880
But I hope you all know that being some wrestling,
00:26:19.480
Sheila is the winner of the Rebel News Team Player Award.
00:26:27.000
I understand not only you're a great journalist yourself,
00:26:37.500
It seems like you got a lot of people that care a lot about you,
00:26:43.420
and the company wants to know that they love you back,
00:26:54.700
you can sit everybody down and maybe check out Legend House,
00:26:57.700
the reality show we did where Piper's my roommate,
00:27:04.500
I could pull off any practical joke I wanted to and blame it on Piper.
00:27:17.560
it's always hard being a new hire and to have someone like yourself come help them out.
00:27:46.500
I was a little bit into wrestling when I was a kid,
00:27:50.880
and it was really fun to watch her eyes light up when she saw he was giving the award.
00:28:05.360
And the prize for that went to Avi Yamini in Australia.
00:28:11.200
I don't know a lot about Australian celebrities or whatever,
00:28:13.960
but I knew everyone down there would know Monty Python.
00:28:19.520
who we hired to say a little shout out to Avi about winning the Best Builder Award.
00:28:42.020
that you win the Rebel News Award for Best Builder.
00:28:50.400
But I don't understand because later on Ezra says you're a reporter, editor, advocate, and friend.
00:28:57.900
So I don't know what building has got to do with being a reporter,
00:29:02.280
but sometimes I'm not given all the information that I might need.
00:29:08.180
and I've got to say it's extraordinarily impressive.
00:29:12.080
He says that you single-handedly change the political discussion in Australia.
00:29:20.580
particularly with Uncle Rupert and his stranglehold,
00:29:24.820
and that you gave hope to the little people punished by the lockdown.
00:29:32.220
And then Ezra says he's a great reporter, a great editor, a great advocate, and a great friend,
00:29:39.540
So, Avi Yemeni, it seems to me that you're a rather remarkable person.
00:29:46.840
And you have a good, loyal, and splendid friend in Ezra Levant.
00:29:58.860
We need good reporting, good editing now as we've never needed before.
00:30:03.940
And I don't know if you've ever seen my tweets.
00:30:11.080
Rupert Murdoch was the first to take them down market,
00:30:18.160
I do not have a single paper that I basically trust.
00:30:31.420
To single-mindedly change the political discussion,
00:30:38.420
Thanks to Ezra Levant for asking me to send this message to Avi.
00:30:43.720
And I wish you a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year,
00:30:52.860
We had a few more awards, but I want to show you just one of them.
00:31:01.540
This is from, we had an award for Brave Adventurer.
00:31:08.720
Going to exotic places and asking tough questions.
00:31:12.500
Political questions, but still tough to ask someone a question right to their face that,
00:31:16.720
you know, is an uncomfortable investigative question.
00:31:19.900
Well, it won't surprise you that Kian Bextie won that award.
00:31:23.440
And here is an unusual talent delivering the prize.
00:31:29.540
But I invite you to watch it because I found it surprising, interesting, touching, charming, thoughtful.
00:31:43.540
And Ezra Levant asked me to send you this message to send, to extend his congratulations to you
00:31:49.140
on winning the Rebel News Brave Adventurer Award.
00:31:57.580
And I don't know what Brave Adventurer, what the Brave Adventurer Award is,
00:32:01.360
but it sure does sound like it's a great award to be commended for your work
00:32:11.380
I don't know that there can be any higher praise.
00:32:16.780
That seems to be a big deal and a meaningful award.
00:32:25.080
It seems like you're out there doing important work.
00:32:27.920
Ezra tells me that you've been investigating Greta Thunberg.
00:32:31.180
She's the young girl, apparently, from Scandinavia somewhere,
00:32:34.920
who's active in the environmental community, the climate change, things like that.
00:32:40.660
My young daughters are big fans of hers, actually.
00:32:43.220
I never heard of her until I came home about 11 months ago.
00:32:46.220
I was sheltering in place in prison for eight years.
00:32:50.240
By the way, key in for things that aren't crimes,
00:32:52.860
for things that are legal, routine, constitutionally protected,
00:32:55.160
and absolutely necessary in both politics and in government,
00:33:00.520
Conversations initiated by then-President-elect Obama.
00:33:03.540
Now, he didn't do anything wrong, but either did I.
00:33:10.600
And lo and behold, eight years into that wretched journey,
00:33:15.020
reached in to rescue me, a Democrat governor, restore my freedom,
00:33:18.200
and reunite me with my two daughters and my wife, Patty.
00:33:22.300
the four of us will always be grateful to President Trump.
00:33:25.480
And I'm grateful to Ezra for giving me a chance to congratulate you on your success.
00:33:31.840
Clearly, it shows that you're someone who's fearless, not afraid to go after it,
00:33:36.300
not afraid to dig beyond the surface and the superficial stuff,
00:33:41.920
and to look for the real truth underneath it all.
00:33:47.480
I fear for our country, and I know just how dishonest the media can be,
00:33:57.520
That was a victim of it and have spent a long time away because of that in some part.
00:34:08.060
You fully expect the media to look into outrageously fake dishonest allegations leveled against you.
00:34:21.780
gets advertising dollars to run with these sensational, super sensational stories
00:34:34.620
They reversed that, calling it routine political log rolling.
00:34:42.760
If we open up a quarrel between the present and the past,
00:34:48.760
And let's, well, let's enthusiastically cheer you on and celebrate your success.
00:34:56.300
Because it seems to me you're doing really important work.
00:35:02.980
She's part of those socialists in the Congress.
00:35:11.360
And then, of all of them, the Dominion voting machine,
00:35:15.460
that, the Dominion voting company and how they operate,
00:35:23.700
Because something is rotten in the state of Denmark,
00:35:30.540
Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, Nevada, and Arizona.
00:35:41.360
as a Democrat who came out of Chicago politics at the same time as President Obama,
00:35:52.200
that Democrats are trying to steal this presidential election.
00:35:57.260
From Donald Trump, yes, but far more worse than that,
00:36:07.140
This will choke the life out of our democracy if we don't do something about this.
00:36:17.320
truth crushed to earth will one day rise again,
00:36:22.540
So congratulations, Kian, on the great work that you're doing.
00:36:30.660
And I'll be looking forward to reading the work that you do
00:36:35.080
in the days, the weeks, months, seasons, and perhaps even years ahead.
00:36:44.200
And I'll leave you with the Lifetime Achievement Award
00:37:00.260
The winner of the Rebel News Lifetime Achievement Award.
00:37:10.840
It says, you have been a loyal ally, trusted colleague,
00:37:31.640
Most of those videos we hired on a website called cameo.com,
00:37:35.140
which lets you get celebrities to read fun things.
00:37:37.540
But it was sort of cool that Roseanne recognized us and knew our work.
00:37:49.020
And of course, the whole evening was catered by Adam Skelly's Adamson Barbecue.
00:37:54.940
That's the restaurateur who's been fighting against the lockdown in Toronto.
00:37:59.100
And hopefully, it'll be the first of many more Rebbe Awards here at Rebel News.
00:38:05.060
Listen, thank you for being such a part of our great year.
00:38:11.360
But I think that was our opportunity to shine because we tell the other side of the story.
00:38:16.960
And the whole media party is totally on side for the paranoia and the lockdown
00:38:22.740
and the extremist approach that governments everywhere are taking.
00:38:27.640
In many ways, we've been alone as skeptics on that whole matter.
00:38:31.640
And as the pandemic is being stretched by politicians into a multi-year thing,
00:38:38.360
And of course, we led a major civil liberties project this year
00:38:41.320
that's only wrapping up as the Christmas lockdowns come.
00:38:48.720
And I thank you for supporting us every step of the way.
00:38:53.860
Until then, on behalf of all of us here at Rebel World Headquarters,
