00:00:00.000 Tonight, the city of Victoria says it hates fossil fuels.
00:00:03.740 I say, let's make their wishes come true.
00:00:06.120 It's January 22nd, and this is the Ezra Levant Show.
00:00:11.300 Why should others go to jail when you're a biggest carbon consumer I know?
00:00:15.060 There's 8,500 customers here, and you won't give them an answer.
00:00:19.100 The only thing I have to say to the government about why I publish it
00:00:22.640 is because it's my bloody right to do so.
00:00:30.000 Have you ever been to Victoria, the capital city of British Columbia?
00:00:33.160 If you look at the right places, it is perhaps the prettiest city in Canada.
00:00:37.200 There is an enormous public gardens made in an old quarry called Butchert Gardens,
00:00:42.460 just outside the city proper, and I think it's probably the most beautiful public gardens in all of Canada.
00:00:47.920 I'm not a big flowers guy, but this place is so stunning, so perfect, and they make it so much fun.
00:00:54.160 It's a must-see. I never say things like that.
00:00:57.280 Obviously, the downtown of Victoria is very pretty, if you look in the right places.
00:01:02.200 The amazing Empress Hotel, just perfect.
00:01:06.040 If you can afford it, go have the high tea there.
00:01:08.740 If you can't afford it, well, there's other places in town to have fancy tea more affordably,
00:01:12.980 like at Butchert Gardens, actually.
00:01:15.060 And the busy harbor is fun to watch.
00:01:18.160 The boats, the seaplanes, the tourist bars and restaurants, the hustle-bustle.
00:01:22.420 But that beautiful Victoria of old, the city of perfect weather,
00:01:28.940 the city they used to say was for newlyweds and nearly deads,
00:01:32.360 as in it was a sleepy town and a great place to retire, was changed a bit.
00:01:36.980 I was going to mention how pretty the provincial legislature is, because it is.
00:01:41.340 When there's not a tent city of drug users and homeless people camped out front.
00:01:46.160 So much of downtown Victoria has become like infamous East Hastings Street in Vancouver.
00:01:53.420 Just a perpetual shantytown.
00:01:55.660 Homeless people, drug users, mentally ill folks, criminals.
00:01:59.560 And the weather is so nice, so why not hang out there?
00:02:03.200 And the police don't enforce the law.
00:02:05.880 And social justice warriors love the blight on their city as proof of how tolerant they are.
00:02:10.460 The city is dangerous now, I believe.
00:02:12.020 I was there just a few months ago.
00:02:13.120 And it's starting to feel a bit like San Francisco.
00:02:15.860 And by that I mean hobos on the street.
00:02:18.480 And some of them are quite aggressive.
00:02:21.140 But the mayor knows the real problem.
00:02:24.580 The statue of Canada's founder, Sir John A. MacDonald,
00:02:28.940 that was torn down by politically correct order of the city council.
00:02:32.480 Not one drug user was redeemed by that.
00:02:34.880 Not one homeless person was housed.
00:02:37.900 But boy, did Victoria show how woke it was.
00:02:40.720 By the way, when your city is named after Queen Victoria,
00:02:45.540 Queen of the British Empire,
00:02:48.020 when John A. MacDonald was Prime Minister,
00:02:50.300 Queen of the British Empire at its highest heights,
00:02:52.280 when it had colonies in the empire,
00:02:55.100 it was called an empire then, not just Commonwealth,
00:02:57.080 from India to the Caribbean, forget Victoria.
00:03:00.740 I mean, talk about being politically incorrect.
00:03:03.140 The whole province is named after no one less than Christopher Columbus himself.
00:03:08.140 British, Columbia, both of those are hate words to the modern left, aren't they?
00:03:14.140 How long before Victoria, British, Columbia,
00:03:18.980 before all three of those words are torn down metaphorically,
00:03:23.100 like Sir John A. was torn down,
00:03:24.620 and replaced with some politically correct alternative,
00:03:27.520 Xi and Zer, or something like that?
00:03:30.000 I think they should probably rename Vancouver while they're at it.
00:03:34.640 Of course, Vancouver's named after a British Navy commander,
00:03:38.020 as in a violent white man, toxic masculinity.
00:03:41.460 Now, this all sounds insane, I know,
00:03:43.240 but that is Victoria these days.
00:03:45.120 All of BC, really, it's been colonized again,
00:03:47.780 but not by Brits like Captain Vancouver or Queen Victoria,
00:03:50.900 but it's been colonized by foreign environmental groups,
00:03:54.760 lobby groups, lawyers,
00:03:55.520 who have helped install a series of ever more radical politicians,
00:03:59.220 obviously in city halls,
00:04:00.580 and now in the provincial legislature too,
00:04:02.640 and much more importantly in the courts.
00:04:05.480 I see news that one such U.S.-based group called Stand Earth,
00:04:09.680 which used to be called Forest Ethics,
00:04:11.200 has filed a lawsuit, of course,
00:04:12.980 to stop the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion
00:04:14.980 by demanding that the National Energy Board review
00:04:18.580 not only the pipeline itself,
00:04:19.660 but engage in some quasi-scientific voodoo review
00:04:24.640 about global warming itself.
00:04:27.280 Let's just put the theory of man-made global warming on that
00:04:30.220 and see how that works.
00:04:31.060 Now, of course, they're only being as crazy
00:04:32.600 as Justin Trudeau and Catherine McKenna are
00:04:34.240 because they first did the same thing
00:04:35.940 to the Energy East pipeline,
00:04:37.240 which is why that pipeline was canceled.
00:04:39.260 So don't be surprised that global warming
00:04:42.720 will now be the test of whether anything can be built in Canada.
00:04:45.500 That's really what Gerald Butts,
00:04:46.960 Trudeau's principal secretary,
00:04:47.920 has been saying for years.
00:04:51.580 We think that the oil sands have been expanded too rapidly
00:04:54.180 without a serious plan for environmental remediation
00:04:58.460 in the first place.
00:04:59.800 So that's why we don't think it's up to us
00:05:02.500 to decide whether there should be another route for a pipeline
00:05:05.600 because the real alternative is not an alternative route.
00:05:10.660 It's an alternative economy.
00:05:13.740 So yeah, B.C. is the land of crazy,
00:05:15.940 but a lot of it is an unofficial layer of crazy
00:05:18.460 slathered on top of a somewhat normal place.
00:05:21.760 You can't dump $100 million of crazy funding
00:05:23.880 and 1,000 paid crazy activists in the province
00:05:26.760 to not crazy it up a bit.
00:05:28.740 So I don't blame ordinary British Columbians.
00:05:30.540 Like I say, they've been colonized by American lobby groups.
00:05:34.160 But at the end of the day,
00:05:35.000 they did vote for their latest batch of kooks,
00:05:37.680 like those in the provincial legislature.
00:05:39.260 And let me get back to Victoria for a moment
00:05:40.640 because they're the tops in the crazy Olympics.
00:05:43.500 Look at this.
00:05:44.860 City of Victoria recommends class action lawsuit
00:05:48.000 against the oil and gas industry.
00:05:49.840 Can I read a bit of this from the Globe and Mail?
00:05:51.460 The city of Victoria has become the first municipality in B.C.
00:05:54.160 to support filing a class action lawsuit
00:05:56.500 that seeks to have oil and gas companies
00:05:58.260 help pay a portion of the costs associated with climate change
00:06:01.040 and is hoping other municipalities follow its lead.
00:06:04.520 If only they could sue John A. McDonald, too.
00:06:07.600 Then we'd be cooking with gas.
00:06:08.940 Here's some more from the story in the Globe.
00:06:11.320 Our province is in a climate emergency, emergency, emergency,
00:06:15.300 and response from fossil fuel companies has been inadequate,
00:06:18.400 Victoria Councillor Ben Isidt said.
00:06:20.700 The cost of climate change has been overwhelming
00:06:22.740 for local governments in B.C.,
00:06:24.320 and taxpayers shouldn't be the only ones paying for the impacts.
00:06:28.360 I read to you the other day about Vancouver's declaration
00:06:30.380 of a global warming emergency, emergency,
00:06:32.560 and they said it was an emergency because the sea level is rising.
00:06:35.500 And it is true.
00:06:36.800 So, it's rising above the thickness of a dime every year.
00:06:39.920 I showed you this Australian sea fort in Sydney, Australia.
00:06:43.200 A photo taken 130 years ago and then one taken today.
00:06:45.780 You can see maybe an inch of difference.
00:06:48.460 And that's apparently a cause because you drove to work today, people.
00:06:52.500 Now, I know this is kooky stuff, but it's easier talking about this
00:06:56.080 than talking about the dirty drug needles and the used condoms in the public parks,
00:07:00.460 in fact, right in front of the legislature in Victoria there.
00:07:03.900 And I guess it gets votes.
00:07:05.340 I mean, Lisa Helps, the ironically named mayor of Victoria,
00:07:08.620 she wants to get rolling with the lawsuits right away.
00:07:10.560 Look at this beautiful propaganda website she set up.
00:07:13.840 This is actually last month she did this.
00:07:15.780 It says, I don't know if you can see it there,
00:07:18.360 who should pay for climate adaptation?
00:07:21.500 Victoria's climate accountability letters.
00:07:24.360 And then if you scroll down a bit,
00:07:25.520 there's a copy of a letter that she has sent to various oil companies around the world.
00:07:29.620 What I mentioned before, the people she wants to sue.
00:07:32.980 Now, her letter is on the page there.
00:07:34.600 Let me read it to you.
00:07:35.480 It starts,
00:07:37.140 As mayor and council of the city of Victoria in British Columbia,
00:07:41.120 we are writing to secure your commitment to pay your fair share
00:07:44.900 of the costs of climate change that face our community.
00:07:47.520 Climate change is the direct result of pollution
00:07:49.300 caused by the burning of fossil fuels, including from your products.
00:07:52.520 She goes on a bit, and she sent those letters all around the world.
00:07:58.040 Here's a list of some of the companies she wrote to.
00:08:00.880 Now, some of them are owned by companies in the West.
00:08:03.460 And by that, I mean they're publicly traded on stock markets.
00:08:05.940 They're subject to regulation and lawsuits.
00:08:08.340 It wouldn't surprise me if some woke CEO actually pays her shakedown money
00:08:13.320 as a form of greenwashing,
00:08:15.500 doing the oil and gas equivalent of what Gillette just did to itself the other day,
00:08:18.820 going public, saying it hates itself, and so will you love me now?
00:08:21.400 I mean, we see that in Alberta,
00:08:23.040 where four large oil companies endorsed the carbon tax for Rachel Notley
00:08:26.600 in return for special favors and exemptions
00:08:30.000 and preferences against their competitors.
00:08:32.760 But look at some of the others on Lisa Helps' list there.
00:08:36.700 Do you see Gazprom there, about a third of the way down?
00:08:39.940 That's a Russian company that's controlled by Vladimir Putin,
00:08:42.500 51% owned by the Kremlin.
00:08:45.540 Do you see near the bottom there it says Saudi Aramco?
00:08:47.720 That stands for, I mean, that's Saudi, right?
00:08:52.220 That's owned by the king of Saudi Arabia.
00:08:54.080 And you see right in the middle there, National Iranian Oil Company.
00:08:57.820 That's the state oil company of Iran.
00:08:59.440 Those are dictatorships, people.
00:09:01.700 And you see about two-thirds of the way down,
00:09:04.280 it says Petroleos de Venezuela.
00:09:07.620 Now she spelled about half these wrong.
00:09:09.560 You see Murray N. Gary Kelly.
00:09:11.360 There's so many spelling errors on this.
00:09:13.080 It's so weird.
00:09:14.400 It's almost like she's amateur, juvenile or something.
00:09:17.880 But that one there, Petroleos de Venezuela,
00:09:21.440 otherwise known as Peta Vesa,
00:09:23.880 that's, of course, nationalized by the Venezuelan dictatorship.
00:09:29.000 You know they're so poor over there because of socialism.
00:09:32.580 That despite having the largest oil reserves in the world,
00:09:34.680 bigger even than Saudi Arabia,
00:09:35.600 the average Venezuelan has lost 18 or 19 pounds from malnutrition.
00:09:43.500 Now I know fatties like me are thinking,
00:09:45.560 oh, I'd like to lose 19 pounds.
00:09:46.980 No, not from starving you don't.
00:09:49.920 It's a famine over there.
00:09:51.200 That's not the good way to lose weight.
00:09:53.240 They're starving because of socialism.
00:09:55.900 But this kook, Lisa Helps, the mayor of Victoria,
00:09:58.740 wrote them a letter saying,
00:10:00.320 oh, excuse me, can you send us money for reparations or something?
00:10:03.640 Can you imagine that?
00:10:06.980 Well, I have a better idea.
00:10:09.700 If she hates oil and gas so much,
00:10:14.500 I'm going to let this cut her off.
00:10:17.680 I mean, it's weird how much oil and gas these oil and gas protesters consume.
00:10:21.000 I always use the analogy of PETA,
00:10:22.660 people for the ethical treatment of animals.
00:10:25.300 You know, the animal rights extremists.
00:10:27.180 They're crazy, some of them.
00:10:29.600 But at least they're consistent.
00:10:30.660 You never see a PETA activist tuck into a big, thick steak or a hamburger
00:10:34.700 and say, oh, you really got to ban meat while they're eating meat.
00:10:37.040 They just don't do that because they're living the vegan dream.
00:10:39.800 They're truly doing it.
00:10:41.040 When they're hectoring you to give up meat, they're not eating meat.
00:10:44.300 If Lisa helps the mayor of Victoria and the rest of BC's political leads really hate oil and gas,
00:10:52.840 then lead the way.
00:10:55.840 Then cut them off.
00:10:58.800 We have to help them get over their addiction to oil.
00:11:02.960 And hey, it'll save the world's weather or something like that, however it's supposed to go.
00:11:06.200 Maybe we shouldn't just shut down the Trans Mountain Pipeline expansion proposal.
00:11:10.500 I mean, maybe we should shut down the existing Trans Mountain Pipeline
00:11:16.240 that supplies Vancouver with so much of its oil right now.
00:11:20.200 I mean, there's no difference between the oil that is currently going through the Trans Mountain Pipeline
00:11:25.500 and the greenhouse gases attendant to it.
00:11:27.980 That's being shipped through it now.
00:11:29.720 Or the oil that would be shipped through an expansion.
00:11:31.860 Why not shut it down now?
00:11:34.640 And even worse is the oil and gas used on Vancouver Island, including where Victoria is.
00:11:39.260 Do you know how they get their oil and gas there?
00:11:43.540 They put it on a barge and sail it over.
00:11:49.360 Talk about risky.
00:11:51.540 I mean, Exxon Valdez waiting to happen.
00:11:53.960 Here's a briefing note from the National Energy Board.
00:11:56.180 Let me quote this.
00:11:58.240 Barges carry product from Vancouver to terminals on Vancouver Island and along the coast
00:12:02.600 and from terminals in the Northwest Territories to more northern locations along the Mackenzie River.
00:12:07.940 Edmonton refineries provide about 50 to 60 percent of the petroleum product needs in the Vancouver market.
00:12:12.820 The rest of the Vancouver area is supplied either by the Chevron refinery in Vancouver,
00:12:17.360 which is right near the end of the Trans Mountain, by the way,
00:12:19.480 or with product imports from the U.S.
00:12:21.720 Okay, well, why on earth would Lisa Helps, the mayor of Victoria,
00:12:28.180 why on earth would John Horgan, the NDP premier,
00:12:31.240 why on earth would Sipporah Berman, the foreign-funded activist suing to stop the Trans Mountain expansion,
00:12:36.280 how on earth can they accept oil being moved to Vancouver Island by barge?
00:12:40.920 How on earth can they accept American and Canadian oil right now?
00:12:44.680 We must stop them to do them a favor for their own good, to save them from global warming.
00:12:49.940 I mean, writing a letter that will go in the shredder of every OPEC country.
00:12:53.780 I mean, you're writing to the Saudi king.
00:12:55.580 You think he's going to say, oh, maybe we've been doing it all wrong.
00:12:58.860 No, I mean, that's a fun press release.
00:13:00.660 That's telling the world you think that starving Venezuelans should send you cash.
00:13:04.760 Yeah, some might say that's a little bit of white privilege showing through there, Lisa.
00:13:07.840 But if you want to be seriously woke, if you want to actually live the creed,
00:13:12.080 why don't we actually wean them off the oil sands right now?
00:13:16.500 Why don't we do it to them?
00:13:19.120 I mean, Trudeau says he wants to phase out the oil sands.
00:13:25.300 I've said time and time again, and you're all tired of hearing me say it,
00:13:29.340 you can't make a choice between what's good for the environment and what's good for the economy.
00:13:34.040 We can't shut down the oil sands tomorrow.
00:13:37.460 We need to phase them out.
00:13:39.480 We need to manage the transition off of our dependence on fossil fuels.
00:13:45.320 Why wait?
00:13:46.600 Why this phase them out business?
00:13:48.300 I mean, it's a climate emergency.
00:13:49.900 Climate emergency.
00:13:51.180 Why not just shut them down now, starting with the most sensitive souls in Victoria?
00:13:57.880 Because there's actually another environmental crisis in town that needs help,
00:14:01.120 and I think it hasn't received the attention it needs until we solve this climate emergency.
00:14:05.860 I showed you the fancy website designed to get Iran and Russia and Saudi Arabia and Venezuela
00:14:11.380 to pay reparations to Victoria.
00:14:13.420 But look at this homemade website.
00:14:15.920 Talk about grassroots.
00:14:17.460 Look at this.
00:14:19.000 The Victoria Sewage Treatment Alliance.
00:14:21.340 Let's get on with it, is their motto.
00:14:23.800 Can I read a little bit here?
00:14:24.940 I mean, no foreign lobbyist money here.
00:14:27.080 That's sort of obvious from this AOL-era website.
00:14:31.180 Let me quote a bit.
00:14:32.120 It says,
00:14:32.260 Today, Victoria dumps an average of 82 million liters of raw sewage daily into our world-class coastal waters.
00:14:38.700 This pollution harms our oceans, including salmon, shellfish, otters, and orcas.
00:14:43.620 Our community now has the opportunity to create a sewage treatment system
00:14:46.460 that will protect human health and our environment.
00:14:49.240 We ask you to show your support for a sewage treatment system,
00:14:52.380 giving the gift of clean water to our children and our grandchildren.
00:14:56.120 Yeah, I mean, tough to blame that one on the Saudis or the Venezuelans.
00:14:59.220 It says, Victoria just dumps its raw and treated sewage around the ocean.
00:15:02.900 Go ahead, swim, surf, fish, enjoy the best Victoria has to offer.
00:15:06.040 I mean, seriously.
00:15:07.780 Why should the ocean off Victoria be any cleaner than their needle-strewn public parks, right?
00:15:12.200 But the thing is, the advantage of suing fossil fuel companies
00:15:15.120 and declaring states of emergency about global warming and the rising tide
00:15:18.900 is that you never actually have to do anything.
00:15:21.660 You never actually have to solve any problems.
00:15:23.360 You never have to have an accountability moment for why didn't you fix it.
00:15:26.660 But if they ever acknowledge their raw sewage problem
00:15:30.980 or if 100 Quebec towns and cities that dump their raw sewage in the river
00:15:35.820 actually made that the same priority they do,
00:15:38.180 fighting against harmless, colorless, odorless carbon dioxide,
00:15:41.720 well, then they might actually have to fix something.
00:15:43.840 And that's a lot less fun than attacking Alberta or big oil, isn't it?
00:15:49.680 Stay with us for more.
00:15:50.640 Welcome back.
00:16:05.140 Well, yesterday we told you about the high-tech lynching
00:16:08.300 of a group of pretty well-behaved teenage boys
00:16:11.660 in Washington, D.C. for the annual March for Life.
00:16:16.220 They were waiting for their buses to pick them up
00:16:19.040 when they were racially abused by a group of extremists called black Israelites.
00:16:25.860 Well, in response, they started doing their school cheers
00:16:29.280 and then an aboriginal man walked right up to the face of one of them,
00:16:33.320 mere inches away, and banged a drum in his face for five minutes.
00:16:38.040 The kid has much more self-control than I would have had.
00:16:41.520 He remained motionless, didn't say a word, didn't gesture at all, just smiled.
00:16:46.540 He later said he was hoping to de-escalate the moment,
00:16:49.740 and he said he was quietly praying.
00:16:51.780 Well, that's not what the mainstream media said.
00:16:53.860 They called him a hater.
00:16:55.320 They called him a racist.
00:16:56.920 They said he was taunting the aboriginal man.
00:16:59.240 They said he blocked his way,
00:17:01.260 and the aboriginal man named Nathan Phillips
00:17:02.760 went with the lies, saying he was trapped.
00:17:06.100 We showed you the video evidence yesterday.
00:17:08.320 That simply was not true.
00:17:09.640 Well, many blue checkmark liberals,
00:17:13.720 that's the phrase for officially approved and verified leftists on Twitter,
00:17:18.200 had a field day at the expense of the children,
00:17:21.860 as opposed to the actual racists who taunted them.
00:17:24.820 But when news emerged of the facts,
00:17:27.240 they, instead of apologizing,
00:17:28.940 they quietly moved to delete their accusations
00:17:32.860 without clarification, correction, or apology.
00:17:35.740 But the thing about the Internet is that it is forever.
00:17:39.660 And so many of those celebrities and others disparaging the young man,
00:17:43.980 well, it was caught on video, or they were screenshotted.
00:17:48.780 A journalist who put the worst of these accusations made by liberals in a story,
00:17:54.460 online, is our friend Pardes Saleh,
00:17:56.580 a reporter with MediaEye.com,
00:17:58.480 and she joins us now from Washington.
00:17:59.840 Great to see you, Pardes.
00:18:01.720 Hi, thank you for having me.
00:18:02.940 Well, it's a pleasure.
00:18:04.240 Your story is very interesting.
00:18:05.660 It's called,
00:18:06.040 Journalists and Celebs Rush to Delete Tweets Slamming MAGA Hat Kids.
00:18:12.680 MAGA, of course, Make America Great Again.
00:18:16.920 Did any of these celebrities or journalists wait to get the facts,
00:18:22.020 or did they just say,
00:18:22.940 oh, white kid wearing a MAGA hat,
00:18:25.380 standing in front of an aboriginal man,
00:18:27.480 we know right now who the good guy and bad guy is,
00:18:31.040 let's just call them the Nazi youth?
00:18:32.960 Like, was there any due diligence or reportage there,
00:18:36.240 or did they just say,
00:18:37.240 he's white, he's a Trump supporter, I hate him?
00:18:40.700 Yeah, I mean,
00:18:41.660 they were quick to judge,
00:18:45.260 and I think that's actually a really important question,
00:18:48.360 because some of the people who,
00:18:52.480 you know, all these people were quick to judge,
00:18:54.180 which is why they took down their tweets later,
00:18:57.140 or maybe regretted the way that they worded it or whatever.
00:19:00.780 But some of them later tweeted,
00:19:04.160 still in support of the Native American guy,
00:19:08.400 or still, like, against these kids,
00:19:11.140 saying that, like,
00:19:12.360 regardless of the new evidence that came out,
00:19:15.000 they still didn't like these kids.
00:19:18.600 And I think it's just proof.
00:19:21.240 I mean, I think it's basically everybody acknowledging together
00:19:24.620 that it had nothing to do with the kids,
00:19:27.060 it just has to do with politics.
00:19:28.700 People were upset that there were a bunch of kids wearing MAGA hats,
00:19:31.840 and they used that as a state.
00:19:34.300 You know, it's one thing for a celebrity,
00:19:36.520 like Alyssa Milano really got the fire roaring on Twitter,
00:19:40.760 but I don't think anyone regards her as a journalist.
00:19:43.420 I saw journalists from the New York Times,
00:19:45.700 from the Washington Post,
00:19:46.560 these are prestige publications,
00:19:48.320 who were using phrases like Nazi.
00:19:52.400 This is a 16-year-old kid who did not say a word.
00:19:55.840 He just stood and smiled.
00:19:57.920 I think that's far more worrying than the celebrities,
00:20:00.640 is the journalists who said Nazi youth, racist youth,
00:20:04.700 with no evidence other than their own biases.
00:20:07.640 Yeah, and some of them called for violence.
00:20:11.660 I mean, I think, actually, the worst ones are still up,
00:20:14.680 have not been deleted.
00:20:16.400 The ones calling for the kids to be punched or threatened,
00:20:21.100 like Reza Aslan and Kathy Griffin and some of the other big ones.
00:20:25.660 Well, that's a great point.
00:20:27.460 Let's show some of the tweets that you captured in your report.
00:20:31.420 Some of them were screenshotted,
00:20:33.100 that's the phrase for taking a digital photo of a tweet before it's deleted.
00:20:36.760 The others are still up, as you mentioned.
00:20:37.980 Let's look at Bakari.
00:20:39.560 Here's Anna Navarro.
00:20:42.080 Nobody is born racist.
00:20:43.960 Bigotry is learned from parents, teachers, society, and leaders.
00:20:46.500 So yes, I sure as hell think Trump's racist comments
00:20:48.780 and constant dog whistles have contributed to making ass-wipes great again.
00:20:52.800 It is why we must condemn racism everywhere and every time we see it.
00:20:57.640 That's just an insult.
00:20:59.480 But look at Bakari Sellers,
00:21:01.500 who actually, he says,
00:21:03.320 he is a deplorable.
00:21:07.000 Some people can also be punched in the face.
00:21:11.720 Kathy Griffin actually called for people to reveal the home addresses.
00:21:17.160 I want to show one more tweet,
00:21:18.680 and then I'll ask for your thoughts on it.
00:21:20.140 This is from Patton Oswalt.
00:21:22.400 I'd say he's a comedian and a bit of a pundit.
00:21:25.120 He says,
00:21:25.440 important, thoughtful thread.
00:21:30.240 Please read.
00:21:30.920 It'll take a minute.
00:21:31.620 Tops, thank you.
00:21:33.140 And then,
00:21:34.720 and that thread by Arlen Parsa
00:21:38.760 goes into detail asking
00:21:40.940 for the public to dox the kids.
00:21:44.580 And doxing is the phrase
00:21:45.860 for revealing their home address,
00:21:48.240 their phone numbers,
00:21:49.020 the information about any siblings or parents.
00:21:51.220 So Patton Oswalt was pushing his followers
00:21:54.900 into a thread on how to dox these kids.
00:21:59.480 Is that,
00:21:59.900 is doxing illegal, Pardes,
00:22:01.560 or is it just against Twitter's terms of service?
00:22:05.380 I don't think it's illegal.
00:22:08.220 It might be against Twitter's terms of service,
00:22:10.460 but a lot of the people who have doxed the kids
00:22:12.740 are still up online
00:22:13.720 that Twitter hasn't done anything about it.
00:22:16.860 Twitter has taken down a few accounts over this situation,
00:22:20.480 but I don't,
00:22:22.580 I don't think,
00:22:23.540 I don't think over the doxing.
00:22:25.680 Yeah,
00:22:26.100 I don't think doxing itself
00:22:27.220 should necessarily be illegal.
00:22:29.120 I mean,
00:22:29.800 if so,
00:22:31.400 I don't think people can have
00:22:32.460 a reasonable expectation of secrecy
00:22:34.540 for their address
00:22:37.900 or things like that.
00:22:39.340 I think the problem comes
00:22:40.840 with what the Antifa left does
00:22:43.680 with this information,
00:22:45.480 stalking,
00:22:46.460 attacking,
00:22:47.240 punching in the face.
00:22:48.760 Riza Aslan,
00:22:50.220 who's a very popular CNN contributor,
00:22:55.140 said the kid had a very punchable face.
00:22:58.320 I mean,
00:22:58.500 what is that of the,
00:22:59.640 that's the worry about doxing,
00:23:01.880 is not that people will know where you live.
00:23:04.080 I suppose once upon a time,
00:23:05.800 that was fine,
00:23:06.440 everyone knew where everyone lived,
00:23:08.040 but they know that the Antifa-style thugs
00:23:11.440 will go on their property,
00:23:13.420 do vandalism,
00:23:14.480 and maybe physical violence.
00:23:15.580 I think that's a real threat here.
00:23:16.640 I understand that the school itself
00:23:18.700 had to cancel classes today
00:23:20.040 because of such threats.
00:23:21.560 Did you hear that as well?
00:23:23.800 Yeah.
00:23:24.720 And there are still some protests there
00:23:27.220 who showed up,
00:23:28.820 nonetheless,
00:23:30.040 at the school,
00:23:31.220 and they're protesting
00:23:31.980 for the kids to not be allowed,
00:23:35.020 to go back to school.
00:23:37.100 I mean,
00:23:37.480 that's just,
00:23:38.420 I mean,
00:23:38.840 that's insane
00:23:40.020 that someone would protest
00:23:41.520 saying you cannot teach this kid
00:23:43.580 because he was smiling
00:23:45.080 in the face of a drummer.
00:23:46.620 What bothered me the most
00:23:48.400 was not the journalists
00:23:49.620 or the wild hyenas
00:23:52.640 and jackals on Twitter,
00:23:54.060 that's what Twitter's like,
00:23:55.780 but that the Catholic diocese
00:23:58.820 and the school itself
00:24:01.260 condemned their own students.
00:24:03.660 They use that word condemn,
00:24:05.280 they say it tainted
00:24:06.340 their whole participation
00:24:07.360 in the March for Life
00:24:08.720 within an hour
00:24:10.080 of this going viral
00:24:11.360 a few days ago.
00:24:13.760 The entire school
00:24:15.180 changed their website
00:24:16.400 so a pop-up message
00:24:17.800 was this condemnation
00:24:19.960 of the kids
00:24:20.960 by the school.
00:24:22.200 To me,
00:24:22.500 that was the most disheartening thing,
00:24:24.320 that their own teachers
00:24:26.140 and principals
00:24:27.060 wouldn't even get the facts,
00:24:29.000 wouldn't even stand by their people.
00:24:30.480 They were so worried
00:24:31.140 about the mob,
00:24:32.380 they realized,
00:24:33.000 we better join in the mob
00:24:34.120 or we'll be mobbed next.
00:24:35.380 What do you think of that?
00:24:37.260 I think it's really sad
00:24:38.640 I think people should be honest
00:24:40.520 about what happened
00:24:41.400 and I don't think
00:24:42.840 that the school honestly believes
00:24:44.620 that the kids
00:24:45.140 were doing anything wrong
00:24:46.300 and anyone who is not wearing
00:24:49.360 politics-colored glasses
00:24:51.580 can see that the kids
00:24:53.160 are really doing nothing,
00:24:54.400 they're just sitting there.
00:24:55.820 If I were there,
00:24:56.860 I would have probably
00:24:57.500 laughed at that guy's face
00:24:58.740 or I would have told him
00:25:00.780 to F off.
00:25:02.720 I would have told him
00:25:03.280 to get away from me
00:25:04.160 or something
00:25:04.800 because he's just...
00:25:05.640 But I think anyone
00:25:08.780 who's not super biased
00:25:11.760 can look at this honestly
00:25:13.580 and say that they didn't
00:25:14.560 do anything,
00:25:15.180 especially the school
00:25:16.540 where the kids were at.
00:25:17.840 We should be protecting them.
00:25:18.960 Yeah.
00:25:19.640 You know,
00:25:20.460 kids these days,
00:25:22.320 it's a tough world
00:25:22.960 growing up
00:25:23.420 where every single thing
00:25:24.220 they do
00:25:24.640 is captured
00:25:25.820 on social media,
00:25:27.380 cell phone cameras
00:25:28.000 are everywhere.
00:25:28.500 It's different
00:25:28.860 from growing up
00:25:30.180 the pre-millennial generation.
00:25:33.180 And, you know,
00:25:35.200 I can just imagine
00:25:35.980 parents teach their kids
00:25:38.160 don't sext online,
00:25:40.080 don't do anything compromising.
00:25:42.200 This kid seemed
00:25:43.560 like a good kid.
00:25:44.540 I read his public statement
00:25:45.680 last night.
00:25:47.480 He didn't do...
00:25:48.620 This was done to him.
00:25:50.700 I'm worried that
00:25:51.720 for the rest of his life
00:25:52.900 he'll be hated
00:25:53.820 because his, you know,
00:25:55.060 his face is everywhere
00:25:56.140 and he was falsely smeared
00:25:58.080 as a racist.
00:25:58.820 Now, Donald Trump,
00:25:59.480 the president,
00:26:00.380 has tweeted about him
00:26:01.180 a couple times
00:26:01.740 and said, listen,
00:26:02.720 you had an unpleasant experience
00:26:03.900 but you could go on
00:26:04.720 to do great things.
00:26:05.540 Trump is actually
00:26:06.200 being sort of a grown-up here.
00:26:07.840 He's not turning it
00:26:08.940 into a partisan moment.
00:26:10.060 He's saying
00:26:10.460 something good
00:26:11.760 may come from this.
00:26:13.220 I don't know.
00:26:13.780 What do you think
00:26:14.160 the next chapter here is?
00:26:15.460 Do you think that
00:26:16.040 this kid can get
00:26:17.320 his reputation back,
00:26:18.300 this school
00:26:18.860 can get his reputation back
00:26:20.500 or is it too smeared
00:26:21.520 by the fancy people?
00:26:24.680 I think the kid
00:26:25.680 will be okay
00:26:26.340 as long as he doesn't...
00:26:27.900 as long as he doesn't
00:26:30.040 get crushed by this,
00:26:31.200 as long as he just
00:26:32.340 holds tight,
00:26:33.620 like, hangs on
00:26:34.320 until everything dies down,
00:26:35.760 he'll be okay eventually.
00:26:37.880 It's really tough
00:26:38.980 in the moment,
00:26:39.560 especially if you've
00:26:40.280 never had media exposure
00:26:42.020 and you're suddenly
00:26:42.860 being thrown into it.
00:26:44.520 It's a national story
00:26:45.660 and it's still trending,
00:26:46.840 actually.
00:26:47.760 Still today,
00:26:49.580 which is huge.
00:26:50.840 But if he hangs on tight
00:26:52.940 and he's got support
00:26:53.860 and, like,
00:26:55.080 just tries not
00:26:56.140 to go online too much
00:26:57.900 until it dies down,
00:26:59.360 I think he'll be okay
00:27:00.400 eventually.
00:27:02.240 Yeah, I hope so.
00:27:03.200 I think the odds
00:27:04.020 of him being punched
00:27:04.740 in the face
00:27:05.240 are actually fairly high
00:27:06.920 when you have
00:27:07.340 every celebrity...
00:27:08.300 I saw a musician
00:27:09.120 call for that.
00:27:10.920 I saw a comedian.
00:27:12.020 I saw a political pundit.
00:27:13.680 When you have
00:27:14.200 a thousand celebrities
00:27:15.700 saying,
00:27:16.080 punch this kid
00:27:16.760 in the face,
00:27:17.440 I hate to say it,
00:27:18.300 I think it might happen
00:27:19.140 to him one day.
00:27:21.000 I hope he can pull out of it.
00:27:22.580 It's hard to say
00:27:23.200 to someone,
00:27:23.740 don't go online
00:27:24.940 because the whole world
00:27:25.720 is online.
00:27:26.540 I think we saw
00:27:27.220 lynching here.
00:27:28.000 If I were him,
00:27:30.220 I wouldn't leave
00:27:31.020 my town,
00:27:32.440 to be honest,
00:27:33.120 because I would be
00:27:34.640 scared to be
00:27:35.280 anywhere where
00:27:36.480 people don't like
00:27:37.900 Trump.
00:27:38.920 Yeah.
00:27:39.520 And he's not just
00:27:40.800 a Trumpist now.
00:27:41.640 He was being called
00:27:42.320 a racist,
00:27:42.920 which is so utterly
00:27:43.620 false.
00:27:45.200 Well, you know what?
00:27:45.980 Congratulations
00:27:46.300 on a great story.
00:27:47.360 I thought you covered
00:27:47.860 an important angle.
00:27:49.480 And it's great to have you
00:27:50.260 on the show, Pardes.
00:27:51.020 Thanks for taking
00:27:51.580 the time with us today.
00:27:53.060 Thanks for having me.
00:27:54.380 Appreciate it.
00:27:54.900 It's our pleasure.
00:27:55.480 There you have it.
00:27:56.000 Pardes Salat,
00:27:56.880 a writer for Mediaite.com.
00:27:59.100 The article,
00:27:59.520 you can find it online.
00:28:00.440 It's called
00:28:00.720 Journalists and Celebs
00:28:02.240 Rush to Delete Tweets
00:28:03.440 Slamming MAGA Hat Kids.
00:28:05.720 Stay with us.
00:28:06.820 More ahead on The Rebel.
00:28:19.160 Hey, welcome back
00:28:19.980 on my monologue yesterday
00:28:20.880 about a relentless smirk
00:28:22.020 that made the fake news
00:28:23.620 go berserk.
00:28:24.400 Susanna writes,
00:28:26.640 I'm so proud of the boys
00:28:27.540 for not taking the bait.
00:28:29.560 Yeah, I just don't think
00:28:30.580 if some guy was in my face,
00:28:32.580 like he,
00:28:32.900 I watched the video
00:28:33.820 and he was touching him
00:28:34.820 in a couple,
00:28:35.120 if some guy would bang,
00:28:36.000 bang, bang, bang,
00:28:37.180 bang a drum in my face,
00:28:38.640 would I be able to control
00:28:39.740 myself for five minutes
00:28:40.880 like that?
00:28:41.680 Ooh, I don't know.
00:28:44.420 Stephen writes,
00:28:45.280 there's absolutely no
00:28:46.160 trusting the media anymore.
00:28:47.160 They prefer lies to truth.
00:28:48.440 Without you,
00:28:48.940 we would never know
00:28:49.560 the rest of the story.
00:28:50.300 Well, you know,
00:28:53.020 there are other
00:28:53.800 independent voices
00:28:54.720 in America
00:28:55.440 and in Britain,
00:28:56.840 but in Canada,
00:28:58.940 you know,
00:28:59.360 they all piled on.
00:29:00.480 CBC and CTV
00:29:01.660 were jostling each other
00:29:03.300 for who could
00:29:04.080 disparage these boys
00:29:05.200 faster and harder.
00:29:08.080 Liza writes,
00:29:09.500 Today the school
00:29:10.000 is getting death threats.
00:29:10.800 What a debacle.
00:29:11.660 It's dangerous out there.
00:29:13.620 Yeah, they actually
00:29:14.420 shut down the school
00:29:16.480 and I'm pretty sure
00:29:17.700 they wouldn't have done that
00:29:18.680 if they didn't have
00:29:19.720 actionable intel.
00:29:20.940 That's Antifa for you.
00:29:22.280 I mean,
00:29:22.560 these are rioters.
00:29:24.460 These are masked people
00:29:25.540 who attack with crowbars
00:29:26.720 and stuff.
00:29:27.940 And I showed you yesterday
00:29:30.880 that a New York Times
00:29:32.240 contributor
00:29:33.020 was in the Washington Post.
00:29:34.180 Anyway,
00:29:34.400 really first-ranked
00:29:35.400 legacy media
00:29:35.980 referred to these kids
00:29:36.940 as Nazis.
00:29:38.720 And that message
00:29:39.800 went out millions of times.
00:29:42.580 So if you really thought
00:29:43.660 there were Nazis
00:29:44.400 at a school
00:29:45.660 and you were,
00:29:47.320 and you heard Nazis
00:29:48.040 were the worst thing
00:29:48.580 in the world,
00:29:49.460 wouldn't you go and try
00:29:50.420 and bust up some Nazis?
00:29:52.060 Like if you actually believed,
00:29:53.560 like I know you and I
00:29:54.280 don't believe
00:29:54.640 the Washington Post
00:29:55.180 and the New York Times,
00:29:55.680 CBC, CTV Global,
00:29:56.860 what we call the Media Party.
00:29:59.040 But I think we're unusual.
00:30:00.360 I think many people still do.
00:30:03.340 And if they heard
00:30:04.100 that there's actual Nazis
00:30:05.080 at the school,
00:30:05.760 if you heard
00:30:09.120 there were actual Nazis
00:30:09.980 in a school,
00:30:10.480 like real Nazis,
00:30:11.100 if you actually
00:30:11.920 believed in your bones,
00:30:14.000 there was like
00:30:14.560 this little Hitler character
00:30:15.800 in grade 10.
00:30:21.480 Like with a little,
00:30:22.920 like you know,
00:30:23.380 sometimes grade 10
00:30:24.120 would have a tiny little
00:30:25.120 peach fuzz,
00:30:26.480 you know,
00:30:26.720 maybe he's got
00:30:27.120 a little mustache
00:30:27.660 and his voice is cracking.
00:30:29.780 Ah, Hitler!
00:30:30.740 Or something,
00:30:31.160 like his voice is cracking.
00:30:32.680 Okay, no,
00:30:33.180 you wouldn't.
00:30:33.800 Because you're not crazy
00:30:35.280 like that.
00:30:36.880 But there are crazy,
00:30:37.900 you get 325 million Americans
00:30:39.700 and you tell them all
00:30:41.040 that there's Nazis
00:30:41.580 at a high school
00:30:42.180 in Kentucky,
00:30:43.140 maybe someone's going
00:30:43.900 to believe you
00:30:44.260 and go and act on it.
00:30:45.760 And there were actual
00:30:46.480 tweets yesterday
00:30:47.200 from people saying
00:30:47.880 maybe a school shooting
00:30:48.960 wouldn't be that bad,
00:30:49.660 I swear to God.
00:30:50.360 And those were still
00:30:51.180 on Twitter when I checked.
00:30:53.020 Yeah, so,
00:30:53.740 you can't trust a single
00:30:56.260 word the mainstream media says.
00:30:57.480 I guess that's the end of that.
00:30:59.180 Well, that's our show
00:31:00.040 for today.
00:31:01.460 Until tomorrow,
00:31:02.160 on behalf of all of us
00:31:03.000 here at Rebel World
00:31:03.480 Headquarters,
00:31:03.920 to you at home,
00:31:04.340 goodnight.
00:31:05.440 Keep fighting for freedom.
