Summary
The Rebel Commander returns home from a week in the UK after attending Tommy Robinson's landmark appeal against the Leeds Crown Court ruling that he should not have been tried, convicted, and sentenced the way he was. He's back in Canada now.

I'm The Rebel Commander, just back from the UK,
00:00:06.220
where I have been for the better part of a week.
00:00:09.820
I have been attending a court with Tommy Robinson
00:00:14.080
as the Court of Appeal issued their scorching repudiation
00:00:19.660
of the court in Leeds that had inappropriately and illegally
00:00:25.520
tried, sentenced, and convicted, and sent him off to prison
00:00:32.840
I don't know if you've watched any of my stories from the ground in London.
00:00:39.680
But, I mean, I've been reading legal cases for more than 20 years.
00:00:44.060
I guess it's been 22 years since I graduated from law school.
00:00:52.620
I can't recall a Court of Appeal being more scorching
00:01:01.740
In fact, I can't think of anything that the judge in Leeds did that was right.
00:01:10.700
The charges against Tommy were inappropriately put.
00:01:13.640
They were not put in writing, as is required by the criminal procedure rules in the UK.
00:01:18.480
The immediate hearing, rather than letting things cool off,
00:01:21.520
was specifically mentioned by the Court of Appeal as inappropriate.
00:01:25.160
The fact that Tommy was sentenced as a criminal,
00:01:29.780
rather than as civil contempt, was pointed out by the judge.
00:01:37.160
I cannot think of a single way in which what was done to Tommy was appropriate.
00:01:43.500
Again, Tommy would use the language, stitch up.
00:01:46.140
The Court of Appeal uses fancier phrasing, but it's the same thing.
00:01:50.580
Before we jump in, we've got a lot of stuff to talk about, Tommy, today.
00:01:54.320
I just want to give you a reminder of what we do on these Super Chats, what they are.
00:02:05.240
And as you can see, to the right of the screen, comments are ticking by all the time.
00:02:14.760
Out of the corner of my eye, I notice if a comment is put in bright highlighting.
00:02:31.120
Thank you, Ezra, for supporting Tommy from the start.
00:02:33.480
Well, you're welcome, and Tommy's obviously most welcome in this beautiful family.
00:02:39.040
So what a Super Chat does is, just like that one, it puts it in a bright color so I can spot it out of the corner of my eye.
00:02:44.740
It costs a few bucks or a few pounds, but the good news is Google actually shares that money with us.
00:02:51.100
Most of our videos are demonetized by Google, so this is a small way to supplement our revenues.
00:02:58.100
So I'm going to give you a report, some thoughts upon my return to Canada after half a week in the UK.
00:03:08.940
I was sort of, I don't know, I'll let it speak for itself.
00:03:17.220
And by the way, before we show this clip, the results for Tommy was announced at about 11 a.m.
00:03:27.900
He was not, he did not join the court by video connection.
00:03:33.860
And he was not advised that he won until some prisoner ran by his cell saying, you're going home, bruv.
00:03:46.180
Was that just someone taunting him or teasing him?
00:04:10.500
Because Tommy is in one of the most densely Muslim prisons in the United Kingdom.
00:04:17.040
His cell was actually, just outside the cell was the mosque, the prison mosque.
00:04:28.700
People who go in the prison, to be protected from gangs, they join the Muslim gang.
00:04:33.000
But it's not just, yeah, I'm a crip, now I'm a blood.
00:04:37.640
So a lot of people convert to Islam in prison, not just for the ideology or for the philosophy,
00:04:44.480
And of course, they knew that Tommy was in the prison.
00:04:48.980
So to extricate him from his cell, where he had been caged like an animal for two months,
00:04:56.300
and just to walk him out the first time he was allowed out in such a manner,
00:05:06.220
Every single prisoner in HMP only had to be sent back to their cells, locked, and accounted for
00:05:20.200
The entire prison is basically a Muslim prison.
00:05:25.360
The mosque is the center of the prison, politically, philosophically, criminally, whatever.
00:05:33.900
And so to get Tommy out, they had to lock the whole place down as if it was on riot.
00:05:38.000
Because, of course, he would have been murdered.
00:05:39.740
And he was repeatedly told in prison he would be murdered.
00:05:43.040
He was actually told that his wife would be the subject of an acid attack.
00:05:46.480
And they spoke her full first and last name to him, just to make it seem more menacing and more planned.
00:06:03.380
And then I'm going to show you the clip of when I saw Tommy about two hours after he got home.
00:06:14.260
If you have a comment or a question, feel free to make it.
00:06:17.260
Super chat isn't just about the dough, but thanks for that.
00:06:19.400
You can append a comment or a question to it, and I'll read that.
00:06:24.320
Jonathan Bryant says, glad to have Tommy free from prison.
00:06:28.040
Ronnie Big says, have you seen the difference between how Ahed Tamimi and Tommy Robinson were treated?
00:06:39.740
Kevin Wilkinson says, you have been amazing, Ezra, during this whole disgraceful ordeal.
00:06:44.740
Tommy left you last year to go on his own, but you are a true hero in what you've done.
00:06:54.420
Laura Cooper says, thank you for all your help with Tommy and getting him home to his family.
00:06:59.420
Well, I've got a lot to say about this thing, but I want to show you the moment where I first saw Tommy.
00:07:04.580
I hadn't seen Tommy since, what, February, March.
00:07:14.100
I mean, even if it's amicable, it's still a breakup, right?
00:07:17.560
I mean, we had some emails back and forth, and there was nothing hostile.
00:07:21.580
But when you break up with someone, you break it up.
00:07:27.420
I mean, I had some emails and texts with him or whatever.
00:07:29.640
But I had not actually seen him face to face in, what, like five months.
00:07:35.000
When I first saw Tommy, he had just, he had got a haircut.
00:07:41.060
He met his lovely wife and his three beautiful kids.
00:07:51.140
I didn't know, I mean, I didn't want to be too much, but I wanted to show him how I felt.
00:08:18.260
Let me go back to some Super Chats while we get that ready with the audio.
00:08:28.380
That's about as likely as Tommy being appointed to the House of Lords, I think.
00:08:41.480
Feel free to ask a question or a comment along with your Super Chat.
00:08:45.860
Let me know when we're ready with that video with audio, guys.
00:08:51.620
Dog backwards, that's no attempt to jail visits.
00:08:54.540
Obviously, I wanted to meet Tommy right away in jail, even before I was doing crowdfunding with him.
00:09:01.920
Because, of course, his first legal approach was not even to appeal.
00:09:07.540
And I wanted to talk to him directly and say, Tommy, that's crazy.
00:09:11.300
But I couldn't get in because he was only in his entire term there.
00:09:16.360
I think he only had two meetings with his wife and two meetings with his lawyers.
00:09:25.700
And he was only permitted four meetings in his entire time.
00:09:32.340
So obviously, I wasn't going to take up one of those slots.
00:09:38.520
And his phone calls were very limited, and he had to pay for them.
00:09:43.660
Let me know when we're ready with the audio, guys.
00:09:50.360
Ezra, thank you for your hard work and professionalism.
00:09:52.640
God bless and protect all those seeking the truth.
00:09:55.700
Diane, Oliver, Ezra, do you know why his case wasn't quashed on Wednesday?
00:10:03.300
The conviction, that first result in Leeds, was thrown out.
00:10:11.100
But the underlying matter that called him into court,
00:10:27.780
Why would they put Tommy through anything more again?
00:10:30.560
I mean, for God's sake, the man's been through enough,
00:10:42.260
but the whole matter remains alive in that Tommy must return to the old Bailey now for another hearing.
00:10:50.140
And I talked a little bit with Tommy's lawyers and I'm just going to read respectfully and with gratitude some more of these super chats,
00:11:02.600
and then I'm going to properly play for you with audio the video of me greeting Tommy.
00:11:12.120
Arthur Stevens, when I watched Tommy's reaction to you after his release,
00:11:14.660
I thought I'm going to send Ezra enough to buy a pint.
00:11:22.400
Cooled Bean, God bless Ezra, Tommy, and your family's greetings from Australia.
00:11:26.580
I know he's got a lot of Tommy supporters there.
00:11:28.160
Keith McIntosh, proud to have contributed to the campaign.
00:11:31.040
What percent were Canadians responsible for and Americans and Aussies and have his legal fees to date being covered or is more required?
00:11:39.980
I would say, I mean, I haven't done a proper study of where the funds came from.
00:11:45.720
I think about 35 to 40 percent of the funds came from the U.K.
00:11:54.540
And then maybe 20 percent came from the rest of the world.
00:11:57.200
And obviously, Tommy is well known in the U.K., obviously.
00:12:07.660
But U.S. and Australia would be strong third and fourth.
00:12:13.560
I should tell you that, yes, in fact, on Tuesday, I am proud to say we paid the last of Tommy's legal bills.
00:12:21.780
And so we have shut down the account at SaveTommy.com because he's out and his legal bills are paid.
00:12:29.160
Now, that's not to say we won't engage again for the rehearing.
00:12:33.900
I talked to Tommy a little bit about that yesterday.
00:12:35.760
I'll give you a little more info about that later on.
00:12:37.880
But we are not now collecting money for Tommy's legal bills because they're paid off.
00:12:46.520
I think it was on Tuesday we paid the last one.
00:12:55.080
Gabriel Swift, thank you, Ezra, for helping Tommy.
00:12:58.640
I felt we had the skills and the knowledge to do so.
00:13:04.800
I want to show you the moment when I saw Tommy for the first time in March, April, May, June, July.
00:13:18.600
And we fought hard in the court of public opinion and in the court of law.
00:13:22.840
And here's when I finally had a chance to shake the guy's hand.
00:13:47.780
They're out here, so I won't keep you from more in a few minutes.
00:13:51.380
Yeah, because I just said, yeah, I want to say thank you.
00:13:54.700
I want to say thank you to the Rebels, everyone from Rebels.
00:13:56.520
But, mate, I said from the start, you know when I'm in there and you first rang my wife?
00:14:01.940
It's hard to relay messages and get messages back and forth.
00:14:12.840
And in a weird way, we've been closer in the last two months than we ever were before.
00:14:25.940
When you hear what they're doing, when I lay it all out, it's just like, that's insane that they can get away with that.
00:14:30.960
And when I hear all these noise, I hear barristers, I hear humor, all these people talking, I think they're completely abusing everything they can abuse.
00:14:40.300
Now, we turned the camera off because we talked privately for a few minutes.
00:14:47.040
You know, I had seen his family before when I would go over there and I would bring the kids little maple syrup things from Canada.
00:15:03.580
But, so I had seen them before and his wife is so lovely.
00:15:10.880
I mean, let's be honest, Tommy doesn't deserve such a beautiful wife and beautiful kids.
00:15:14.580
But maybe in the karmic scheme of things, it's God's reward to him.
00:15:21.420
And I was, I mean, obviously I didn't spend a lot of time with the wife and kids, but it was nice to meet them in the home.
00:15:27.620
And I had to forget that his real name, I had to remember his real name is Stephen.
00:15:37.780
So I had to switch into saying Stephen because, I mean, Tommy's his nickname, of course.
00:15:49.580
And so, to see the pure, pure joy in the face of those kids, and I know it was especially hard on his son.
00:16:01.960
I mean, obviously, sons and dads, fathers and sons, you know.
00:16:06.820
And Tommy was a boxer, and Tommy was teaching his son how to box, and they were close.
00:16:11.920
And this was so hard on him, and to see the pure joy.
00:16:30.520
Anyway, so that, I turned off the camera for that because I didn't, I didn't, you know,
00:16:34.040
I didn't want to obviously show what the kids looked like.
00:16:35.980
And so, they were so excited to see their husband and their dad.
00:16:43.640
And Tommy said, well, why don't you join us for dinner?
00:16:50.660
But I thought, there's no bloody way that three hours after he's out of prison,
00:16:56.960
I'm going to inject myself into the family reunion dinner.
00:17:10.400
Obviously, I wanted to, you know, there were so many reasons, but there's no bloody way.
00:17:15.940
I mean, that was very nice of him to offer, but there was no bloody way I was going to do that.
00:17:19.640
What I did say, though, is sit down with me for 10 minutes.
00:17:24.900
Let's just talk for 10 minutes, and then go with your family to dinner.
00:17:28.620
And then me and my cameraman got on the train and went back to London.
00:17:31.680
So, I'm going to read some more Super Chats, and let me tell the team in the control room,
00:17:37.040
get ready with the 10-minute video with audio of my interview with Tommy.
00:17:41.740
I'm just going to read a few Super Chats that I missed.
00:17:46.060
Justin Archer, greetings from northern Indiana.
00:17:49.660
It seems like double jeopardy is entirely legal.
00:17:55.000
I've been trying to make content, and Rebel helped me become conservative.
00:17:59.560
Yeah, the UK, it's not as free as the United States.
00:18:14.440
I mean, I had a, I think I told you I had breakfast with Tommy yesterday,
00:18:18.380
so I didn't go to his dinner on Wednesday when he was free.
00:18:24.840
But when he had a good night's sleep, his first good night's sleep in his own bed
00:18:31.280
without people shouting at him, screaming at him with air conditioning in two and a half months
00:18:37.640
and a first proper meal, we'll get into the meal thing in a bit
00:18:41.180
and just knowing he was safe and at home and with his family.
00:18:45.480
So I had breakfast with him and actually his son came and one other person
00:18:50.940
and he looked better already, actually, just being out.
00:18:56.640
And we talked a bit because I don't, I don't want, I told Tommy, I said,
00:19:01.520
I like being your buddy a lot more than I like being your boss.
00:19:04.600
And we had a chuckle about it because, I mean, I don't want to be the nag, you know.
00:19:09.900
When Tommy worked for us, I was always saying, don't do this, don't do that.
00:19:15.280
Who wants to be the guy saying Tommy don't, right?
00:19:22.480
Alex, can you call up a very short clip of Tommy punching the migrant in Rome?
00:19:31.540
It's shortly after Tommy left us to go independent.
00:19:36.400
He went to Rome and he encountered a migrant on the street and he got into some banter.
00:19:47.680
I will, okay, can we get it with sound on tape, please?
00:19:54.460
And there was a bit of banter and down he went.
00:20:04.120
So, so you'll, we got to get ready with the sound, guys.
00:20:08.740
Let's assume that if there's a clip that I want it with sound.
00:20:34.760
You know, yeah, okay, let's, do you think you're going to take my, you know what, why don't we do this again with sound?
00:20:54.440
Tommy clocking some guy and down he, down he goes.
00:20:58.580
It's fun to watch as a viewer, but as a, can we get Hannah in the control room here?
00:21:06.500
It's no fun to think, okay, now is Tommy going to be arrested?
00:21:10.780
Do I have to get a lawyer in Rome at midnight to bail him out of jail?
00:21:16.420
Or God forbid if Tommy would be stabbed or something, do I have to find out where he is and get him health care and maybe get him back to the UK?
00:21:25.100
Okay, so for the first time when I watched that clip of Tommy clocking the migrant in Rome and down he goes like a sack of potatoes,
00:21:33.400
I can enjoy the violent spectacle as a spectator instead of as someone who has to say, oh, shoot, now what mess are we in?
00:21:43.940
I don't want to get back into nagging with Tommy.
00:21:48.940
All right, we're going to figure out our, our video challenges here.
00:21:52.020
Let me read some more Super Chats in the meantime.
00:21:55.100
Oh, so to your point, C182 OPR, I'm sure there will be lawsuits.
00:22:02.100
And we, if there are, I think we may have a role to play in that.
00:22:05.920
We, I mean, I'm a former lawyer myself, so I understand a little bit about the law.
00:22:11.440
I understand Tommy's cases having been involved with him not only in this one, but in the Canterbury case beforehand.
00:22:16.980
But I also now know a number of law firms in the United Kingdom.
00:22:20.080
And I think I'm just, I think because I come from the legal world myself, I think I, I can manage lawyers a bit.
00:22:32.020
That's sort of quarterbacking some of the legal action.
00:22:38.320
Obviously, I don't want to get ahead of myself.
00:22:40.160
But in answer to your question, if there are more things to do, I think we at the Rebel would choose certain projects to be involved with, with Tommy.
00:22:52.940
He seemed, I mean, he was grateful, as you saw, for what we did this time.
00:22:57.640
Remember, he's going back for a rehearing of this contempt case next month.
00:23:03.160
So when Tommy's back from vacation, I'll talk to him, I'll talk to his lawyers if he wants us to get involved with that.
00:23:08.280
I mean, I don't need to, to fill the room anymore because Tommy himself is out.
00:23:12.380
So Tommy can call the shots on a lot of things.
00:23:15.040
I, he couldn't do that when he was behind bars.
00:23:17.720
But, um, I'm happy to, to supplement it as it sees fit.
00:23:23.700
That's a long way of saying, I'm interested in helping.
00:23:26.780
If it's help that we can truly make a difference.
00:23:29.840
Uh, crowdfunding is one of the things that we can make a difference.
00:23:33.320
Providing some legal strategy, or at least managing the lawyers is something we can make a difference.
00:23:38.260
Obviously, it's different now that Tommy's out.
00:23:42.880
You know, he's a businessman himself and he's got his own thing.
00:23:45.020
Um, but we still believe in him enough that if we can make a difference, we will.
00:23:50.540
Uh, it's different now, though, because he's not, he's, you know, he's not incapacitated in prison.
00:23:56.940
All right, well, let's try one more time here with sound for the, for the Rome clip.
00:24:18.540
Ben S. K. says, I hope you've seen up front the state of our MSM in the UK.
00:24:22.380
They help in the stitch-up, and now they will ramp it up.
00:24:43.560
They wanted to, they were literally pulling up quotes that Tommy said seven years ago in 2011.
00:24:48.200
One BBC presenter read to me some quote Tommy allegedly said in 2007.
00:25:01.200
because he would rather talk about literally anything else in the world
00:25:04.380
than the fact that he had a resounding vindication at the Court of Appeal
00:25:20.120
And I said, it's because, unlike the rest of the media,
00:25:22.640
he's not afraid to talk about Muslim rape gangs.
00:25:31.140
And I say, you've just sort of proved my point, buddy.
00:25:43.920
I've never seen the media so uniform in their narrative.
00:25:49.440
And, you know, I just was reminded today that The Independent,
00:25:56.080
it's, it just received a major investment from a Saudi owner.
00:25:59.460
So are you surprised that a Saudi-controlled newspaper
00:26:10.740
why would the state broadcaster be any less anti-Tommy than a court?
00:26:29.960
Tommy Robinson's experiences are thriller movie material.
00:26:37.120
being starved and losing 40 pounds is not thrilling.
00:26:39.860
I'm going to call for the 10-minute video clip,
00:26:47.080
I hope your name goes down in history for leading this revolution.
00:26:51.180
and thank you to everyone who helped and donated.
00:26:58.820
it was hundreds and hundreds of people who together did it.
