00:00:00.000 As riots spread throughout America's major cities, Democrats try to pin the blame on Trump, sports figures come under fire for standing up for the American flag, and Netflix releases a bizarre video pushing doctors to abandon medicine for feelings.
00:00:11.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:12.000 This is the Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:14.000 The Ben Shapiro Show is sponsored by ExpressVPN.
00:00:22.000 Why haven't you gotten a VPN yet?
00:00:23.000 Visit ExpressVPN.com slash Ben and make the magic happen.
00:00:28.000 Okay, so every weekend, I basically say don't burn the place down, and then you went and you burned the place down.
00:00:33.000 And when I say you burned the place down, I don't mean people who listen to the show.
00:00:36.000 I mean all the other jerks.
00:00:38.000 I'm talking about folks in Seattle burning the place down, and Portland burning the place down, and Oakland burning the place down, and Austin burning the place down, and Louisville burning the place down.
00:00:46.000 All sorts of fun happening all over the country.
00:00:48.000 Why?
00:00:49.000 Well, because there's a general mood.
00:00:51.000 And the general mood is the American system sucks.
00:00:53.000 And liberals are going to let the leftists get away with this.
00:00:56.000 Here's the deal.
00:00:56.000 Conservatives are not capable on their own of stopping the chaos that is now engulfing the country.
00:01:01.000 These are liberal cities.
00:01:02.000 They are run by Democrats.
00:01:03.000 And until Democrats decide that they are done with this, this is not going to end.
00:01:07.000 If they decide that they are going to simply allow the woke left to eat their cities alive, there's not much the right can do about that.
00:01:12.000 It's not the job of the federal government to make sure that basic criminal law is followed.
00:01:17.000 That is the job of the states.
00:01:18.000 generally speaking, of reestablishing generalized law and order in America's major cities.
00:01:23.000 The tenor of American federalism suggests that local localities and states are responsible for ensuring that people abide by the law in localities and states.
00:01:31.000 It's not the job of the federal government to make sure that basic criminal law is followed.
00:01:35.000 That is the job of the states.
00:01:37.000 If states and localities refuse to do it, the predictable result will be that everybody who has any shred of money will get out.
00:01:43.000 That everybody who is living in these cities is not going to stick around and provide the tax base to quote unquote fix the problems of inequality.
00:01:50.000 They are just going to leave.
00:01:51.000 And then presumably they will be blamed by the New York Times for not sticking around.
00:01:55.000 You saw this a little bit with Joe Rogan over the weekend.
00:01:58.000 So my favorite tweet of the weekend.
00:01:59.000 So Joe Rogan is moving from Los Angeles to Texas, which I already knew since Joe and I are very friendly.
00:02:04.000 And the media were angry at him because he said the reasons that he were moving included bad local governance and the upkeep of the area where he lives, which, by the way, is true.
00:02:14.000 Like, LA has turned into a trash heap.
00:02:16.000 And people are like, no, the real reason he's moving is because he just signed a $100 million deal with Spotify and because the state tax rates in California are 13.3%.
00:02:24.000 It's like, okay, so he's bad for escaping the tax rates?
00:02:27.000 I've been told by the left that they can raise the tax rates as high as they want and no one will ever react to those tax rates.
00:02:33.000 So are you going to blame him for reacting to the tax rates?
00:02:35.000 Or are you going to hold with the idea that the tax rates have no impact on people leaving?
00:02:39.000 In other words, Democrats keep making giant cities unlivable and then people leave and they're like, why are you leaving?
00:02:44.000 Where are you going?
00:02:45.000 Why don't you stick around?
00:02:46.000 I mean, we just want to steal more of your money and use it for random crap like port-a-potties under the overpasses, which is what we got here in California.
00:02:53.000 Brand new construction happening here in Los Angeles.
00:02:55.000 Every underpass for a freeway shall have a port-a-potty.
00:02:59.000 It is grand and glorious construction.
00:03:01.000 When we talk about green new jobs, it's really brown new jobs here in the city of Los Angeles.
00:03:06.000 But bottom line is this, whether it's cancel culture, whether it is the destruction of America's major cities, So long as mainstream liberals go along with the woke left, so long as that is the coalition, so long as mainstream liberals see a greater danger to the country in mainstream conservatives than they do in the woke left, then the alliance of the woke left and the liberals actually is a majority in the country.
00:03:28.000 There's a significant minority in the country that is conservative, but the sort of mainstream liberal, kind of good-hearted folks who don't pay too much attention to politics, so long as they keep caving to the woke left, the woke left will have the whip hand in American politics.
00:03:41.000 And that's what we are watching right now.
00:03:44.000 According to the New York Times, from Los Angeles to New York, protesters marched in a show of solidarity with demonstrations in Portland, Oregon.
00:03:50.000 In Seattle, they smashed windows and set fires.
00:03:52.000 A shooting at a protest in Austin, Texas left one man dead.
00:03:55.000 So things are going really great.
00:03:56.000 One thing you may have noticed, I just read you about a series of cities.
00:03:59.000 One thing they have in common, let's see, LA, New York, Portland, Oregon, Seattle, Austin.
00:04:05.000 What do all these places have in common?
00:04:06.000 Hmm?
00:04:07.000 Hmm?
00:04:08.000 It's not demographics.
00:04:09.000 Portland's a very white city.
00:04:10.000 Los Angeles is a very Hispanic city.
00:04:12.000 New York is a fairly racially diverse city.
00:04:16.000 Austin is largely white.
00:04:17.000 It has nothing to do with color.
00:04:19.000 What do these places have in common?
00:04:20.000 They are all places where the left runs the place.
00:04:23.000 All of them.
00:04:24.000 They're not trying this crap in the middle of Slayton, Texas.
00:04:27.000 They ain't trying this crap in the middle of Idaho.
00:04:31.000 Red areas are not seeing this.
00:04:33.000 And the reason red areas are not seeing this is because the woke left understands that the people that they can capture, the institutions they can capture, are all run by mainstream liberals.
00:04:41.000 According to the New York Times, weeks of violent clashes between federal agents and protesters in Portland, Oregon, galvanized thousands of people to march through the streets of American cities on Saturday, injecting new life into protests that had largely waned in recent weeks.
00:04:53.000 One of the most intense protests was in Seattle, where a day of demonstrations focused on police violence left a trail of broken windows and people flushing pepper spray from their eyes.
00:05:01.000 At least 45 protesters had been arrested as of early evening.
00:05:04.000 Both protesters and police officers suffered injuries.
00:05:07.000 Yes, the difference is that the protesters are generally rioting and looting and the police officer generally attempting to enforce the law.
00:05:13.000 Love that moral equivalence there between quote-unquote protesters.
00:05:15.000 Notice how the media are deliberately anti-specific here.
00:05:19.000 They're not saying what these quote-unquote protesters were doing.
00:05:22.000 Generally, the protesters are not being arrested for protesting.
00:05:25.000 In fact, not generally.
00:05:26.000 It's not a crime to protest in the United States.
00:05:28.000 They're being arrested for violating the law.
00:05:32.000 Carrying signs such as Feds Go Home and shouting chants of No Justice, No Peace.
00:05:36.000 Some among the crowd of about 5,000 protesters stopped at a youth detention center and lit several construction trailers there on fire in Seattle.
00:05:43.000 Some smashed windows of nearby businesses, ignited a fire in a coffee shop, blew an 8-inch hole through the wall of the Seattle Police Department's East Precinct building, according to the police.
00:05:52.000 At this point, we declared the event to be a riot and several orders to disperse were given, said Seattle Police Chief Carmen Best.
00:05:57.000 The police responded by firing flash grenades, showering protesters with pepper spray, abruptly rushing into crowds, knocking people to the ground.
00:06:04.000 After a flash grenade left one woman with bloody injuries, police officers shoved people who had stopped to help her.
00:06:09.000 Because they were going to arrest her, presumably.
00:06:11.000 Also because the people who had stopped to help her might not have been helping her.
00:06:14.000 In Austin, Texas, the police said one man was shot and killed just before 10 p.m.
00:06:18.000 during a protest in the city's downtown.
00:06:20.000 In a live video from the scene, protesters are seen marching through the intersection when a car blares its horn.
00:06:25.000 Several seconds later, five shots ring out, followed shortly by several more loud bangs.
00:06:29.000 The man who was killed may have approached a vehicle with a rifle before he was shot and killed, Officer Katrina Ratcliffe said.
00:06:36.000 Miss Ratcliffe said the person who shot and killed the man had fired from inside the vehicle.
00:06:39.000 That person was detained and is cooperating with officers, she said.
00:06:42.000 No one else was injured.
00:06:43.000 Mayor Steve Adler of Austin said, all I know is someone dying while protesting is horrible.
00:06:47.000 He wasn't protesting!
00:06:48.000 When you approach somebody on a public highway carrying a rifle and pointing it at them, which is apparently what happened here.
00:06:54.000 That's called self-defense now.
00:06:56.000 And if you don't believe me, that is very, very similar to the case of Ahmed Arbery, where I've said that the people are being justly tried on murder charges.
00:07:03.000 You do not have the right to hold someone up at gunpoint on a public thoroughfare.
00:07:08.000 And for idiots who are trying to compare that to the couple in Missouri, who are standing on their own property, holding guns to defend their own property.
00:07:14.000 Not the same thing.
00:07:16.000 One is on their property.
00:07:17.000 One is if they went in the middle of the street and pointed a gun at somebody in a car.
00:07:20.000 Not the same thing, you idiots.
00:07:22.000 Our city is shaken like so many in our community.
00:07:24.000 I'm heartbroken and stunned, said Mayor Steve Adler of Austin.
00:07:27.000 We'll get to what's happening in LA in just one second.
00:07:30.000 And then we will get to why liberals are allowing this to happen.
00:07:33.000 Why?
00:07:33.000 These are cities they run.
00:07:35.000 Why are they allowing this to happen?
00:07:36.000 Because there is a method to the madness.
00:07:38.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:07:40.000 First, let's talk about that wireless bill.
00:07:42.000 How you doing on that wireless bill?
00:07:43.000 You doing great?
00:07:44.000 I didn't think so.
00:07:44.000 You're spending too much on your wireless.
00:07:46.000 Why are you spending so much on your wireless?
00:07:47.000 Well, probably you think to yourself, they said unlimited data.
00:07:50.000 And then you look and you haven't been using anything close to unlimited data.
00:07:52.000 You've been using, like, not all that much data.
00:07:54.000 You're just using it a lot for talk and text.
00:07:56.000 This is why you need Pure Talk USA.
00:07:58.000 Who's your wireless provider?
00:07:59.000 AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile?
00:08:01.000 What if I told you Pure Talk USA uses the exact same network as one of those carriers?
00:08:05.000 Same towers, same exact coverage, but literally costs you half.
00:08:08.000 How do they make it so affordable?
00:08:09.000 Well, no retail stores, so low overhead.
00:08:12.000 You're not funding billion-dollar ad campaigns.
00:08:14.000 You're only paying for the data you need.
00:08:16.000 No contract, no excessive fees.
00:08:18.000 You'll enjoy unlimited talk, text, and two gigs of data, all for just $20 a month.
00:08:22.000 The average person is saving $400 a year on their wireless bill by using PeerTalk USA.
00:08:26.000 So grab that mobile phone, dial pound 250, and say Ben Shapiro.
00:08:30.000 When you do, you get $250 off any iPhone, including the brand new iPhone SE.
00:08:35.000 Again, that is pound 250, say keyword Ben Shapiro.
00:08:38.000 You get $250 off any iPhone, including that brand new iPhone SE, pound 250, and say keyword Ben Shapiro.
00:08:45.000 Pound 250, say my name, and get that magical, magical discount.
00:08:48.000 And save money on your wireless at the same time.
00:08:49.000 So, seems like a great deal.
00:08:51.000 Okay, according to the New York Times, in L.A., protesters clashed with officers in front of the federal courthouse downtown.
00:08:57.000 Videos showed people smashing windows, lobbing water bottles at officers after protesters said police fired projectiles at them.
00:09:03.000 Okay, I have a feeling that this went the other way around.
00:09:05.000 I don't think the police are willy-nilly firing projectiles at people because they will lose their jobs and or be sued and or go to jail for that.
00:09:11.000 My guess is that protesters are lobbing things at the cops.
00:09:14.000 The federal courthouse in Portland has been the scene of nightly chaotic demonstrations for weeks, which continued again into Sunday morning as thousands participated in marches around the city the 59th consecutive day of protests there.
00:09:25.000 Earlier, a group of nurses in scrubs enjoyed an organized group of mothers in helmets and fathers in hard hats, all assembled against the fence of a federal courthouse where federal agents have been assembled.
00:09:34.000 Oh, so they decided to get together the village people.
00:09:35.000 That's exciting stuff.
00:09:36.000 They got the guys in the hard hats.
00:09:38.000 They got the mothers.
00:09:39.000 They need a Native American guy.
00:09:40.000 You got the nurses and scrubs.
00:09:42.000 By the way, quick rule about nurses and scrubs.
00:09:44.000 OK, so as some of you may know, I have a wife who is a doctor.
00:09:47.000 You don't wear scrubs outside the hospital.
00:09:49.000 Not a thing you do.
00:09:50.000 The reason is because if you are wearing scrubs as a costume, generally that's stupid.
00:09:55.000 And if you are wearing scrubs directly from the hospital, you're supposed to take them off because they're covered in germs.
00:09:58.000 Anyway, shortly after 1 a.m., The Portland police said the protests had become a riot and ordered the crowd to leave.
00:10:04.000 Federal agents fired tear gas and left the courthouse to drive protesters from the streets, continuing to stretch the bounds of their authority.
00:10:10.000 That's not stretching the bounds of their authority.
00:10:12.000 They have very, very clear authority under 40 U.S.
00:10:15.000 Code.
00:10:16.000 It's 1519.
00:10:18.000 That authority is extraordinarily clear.
00:10:20.000 It says they can defend federal property and arrest people in the course of committing crimes, not just on the federal property, but around that area, anywhere in that area.
00:10:28.000 Portland is leading, said Chantel Hershberger, an organizer with refuse fascism, because nothing says refusing fascism quite like storming law enforcement agencies and trying to establish martial law at the center of major cities.
00:10:40.000 Chantel Hershberger, part of the Los Angeles activists protesting the presence of federal agents in Portland.
00:10:45.000 Makes perfect sense, by the way, is that there are federal agents in Portland.
00:10:48.000 So you go over to the federal courthouse in LA and go to downtown and you just shatter some windows there.
00:10:54.000 It makes perfect sense.
00:10:56.000 They're showing what it looks like to stay in the streets despite police oppression, despite federal forces being sent in.
00:11:01.000 This kind of energy is actually what's needed.
00:11:03.000 Is it?
00:11:04.000 Is that really?
00:11:06.000 Really, is that what's needed?
00:11:08.000 Bipasha Mukherjee, 52, of Kirkland, Washington, said she's been protesting on the streets since May.
00:11:13.000 This is what happens when nobody has a job.
00:11:14.000 Said it was worrisome to her to see such aggressive tactics by the police.
00:11:17.000 This is not the country I immigrated to, said Ms.
00:11:19.000 Mukherjee, who arrived from India more than 30 years ago.
00:11:21.000 It feels like we are rapidly becoming a fascist state and a police state.
00:11:24.000 Really, do fascist police states just let people willy-nilly burn down courthouses for 59 straight days in Portland?
00:11:30.000 Is that a thing fascist police states do?
00:11:32.000 Because, like, my knowledge of fascism suggests that the cops immediately come in in fascist states and arrest everyone, including the law-abiding protesters.
00:11:40.000 Which is literally the one thing that is not happening.
00:11:44.000 This is all insane.
00:11:46.000 It's a very hard slide in an extremely violent direction, said Michaud Savage of Seattle.
00:11:51.000 He said the protests were aimed at both local authorities and the deployment of federal officers who waged a crackdown against the long-running protest in Portland.
00:11:57.000 So weird, because I remember when they set up Chaz Chop in the middle of Seattle before the feds came in.
00:12:03.000 So I feel like the timeline is not accurate that we are being told right now.
00:12:08.000 Carmen Best, the Seattle Police Chief, a woman of color, who, by the way, the media will never note that, said a number of demonstrators used violence.
00:12:13.000 Some were tossing concrete blocks from a rooftop to the street below.
00:12:17.000 The coffee shop side of fire had occupied apartments above it that had to be evacuated.
00:12:21.000 She said, we support everyone's First Amendment right for free speech and to gather and assemble in such a way.
00:12:25.000 What we saw today was not peaceful.
00:12:27.000 It was not a peaceful demonstration at all.
00:12:28.000 Criminal acts were occurring throughout the city.
00:12:30.000 Many people were at risk.
00:12:31.000 By the way, I'm really enjoying the sight of these giant crowds protesting and demonstrating and rioting and looting.
00:12:36.000 That's really exciting stuff.
00:12:37.000 In the middle of a damned pandemic and the media going, well, you know, they're standing.
00:12:40.000 I'm now like 10 paragraphs into this New York Times story.
00:12:44.000 They've not mentioned the pandemic once.
00:12:46.000 Anti-lockdown protests?
00:12:47.000 Violating pandemic policies?
00:12:49.000 First sentence.
00:12:50.000 Churches?
00:12:51.000 Violating pandemic policies?
00:12:52.000 First sentence.
00:12:53.000 Giant, enormous protests of people throwing concrete blocks from roofs to the street below?
00:12:58.000 No mention of the factors of pandemic.
00:12:59.000 None.
00:13:00.000 The largest story on planet Earth in the last probably, maybe since World War II.
00:13:06.000 And people are out in the streets violating protocol and not a word from the media.
00:13:10.000 Not one word.
00:13:11.000 They're protesting for the right things, guys.
00:13:13.000 Immunity is conferred by looting and rioting as long as you're doing so for the right purposes.
00:13:18.000 And the right purposes apparently are not restricted to George Floyd.
00:13:20.000 If you're burning a federal courthouse for George Floyd, or you're burning down a Starbucks for George Floyd, let me suggest George Floyd was not in favor of burning down Starbucks.
00:13:26.000 And if he was, that's a bad thing.
00:13:29.000 This is wild nonsense.
00:13:32.000 Other demonstrations took place on Saturday in New York, Omaha, and Oakland, among other cities.
00:13:36.000 In Omaha, KMTV-TV reported demonstrators turned out in solidarity with the Portland protests and also in response to the death of James Scurlock, a black man killed by a white bar owner in May.
00:13:45.000 In that case, he was being attacked, by the way.
00:13:47.000 That's what actually happened.
00:13:48.000 We discussed the case at the time.
00:13:50.000 In Richmond, Virginia, riot police fired chemical agents at protesters who marched through the city and gathered around the Richmond Police Department.
00:13:56.000 The police said some protesters had set fire to a city-owned dump truck outside the station.
00:14:01.000 In Aurora, Colorado, a hectic scene played out as people marched along an interstate highway.
00:14:05.000 During that protest, someone drove a car into demonstrators, according to Aurora police, although it was unclear if the car struck any protesters.
00:14:11.000 Okay, by the way, quick note.
00:14:12.000 If you gather on a freeway and someone is driving and you surround their car, they have no obligation to stop their car and let you savage them.
00:14:18.000 That is not a thing.
00:14:20.000 You are violating the law when you mob a car.
00:14:26.000 I'm bewildered by this attitude that, as a driver, my job is to make sure that you can surround me, rock my car back and forth, and maybe attack me in my car.
00:14:32.000 I don't know what you're gonna do.
00:14:33.000 I don't know what you're gonna do.
00:14:35.000 I don't know if there are kids in the car.
00:14:37.000 Like, this is insane.
00:14:38.000 This is totally crazy.
00:14:41.000 The police said a protester had also decided to fire off a weapon, which struck at least one other person.
00:14:45.000 That person was taken to a hospital, was in stable condition.
00:14:48.000 Seattle and Portland have seen extended demonstrations.
00:14:51.000 The situation in Portland continues to be violent.
00:14:53.000 People are firing mortars apparently.
00:14:55.000 So it's good times in Portland.

00:16:11.000 Okay, so the video from these places makes perfectly clear exactly what is going on.
00:16:16.000 In Seattle, they burned a Starbucks.
00:16:18.000 One of the great ironic tweets of the day was by a person who was living above that Starbucks and had tweeted that the police are being fascist and brutal and then was like, why are they burning the Starbucks?
00:16:27.000 This is terrible!
00:16:29.000 Man, they really must hate that Starbucks.
00:16:33.000 As I've cited before, the shooting of the oil cans and the jerk with Steve Martin.
00:16:37.000 They really hate these oil cans!
00:16:38.000 Or alternatively, Starbucks has nothing to do with anything and is a major employer in the area and they just ransacked the place and looted it.
00:16:45.000 And of course, they've got the ACAB graffiti up there.
00:16:48.000 ACAB is All Cops Are Bleep.
00:16:51.000 So that's good times.
00:16:53.000 Because the cops run Starbucks, did you know?
00:16:55.000 Starbucks, by the way, a company so woke that they refuse to expel people who literally sit there and use their facilities and won't buy anything.
00:17:03.000 And give sensitivity training if one of their own woke brand managers says the person has to leave.
00:17:08.000 That's how woke Starbucks is.
00:17:10.000 They're getting ripped up.
00:17:12.000 There was the Starbucks being destroyed.
00:17:14.000 Meanwhile, the Seattle PD put out a notice.
00:17:17.000 This is from Carmen Best.
00:17:19.000 According to Reagan Battalion, put out July 24th, quote, Dear business owner and or resident, please know the Seattle Police Department is committed to addressing life safety incidents and calls for service and responding to ongoing demonstrations and unrest in the city.
00:17:31.000 Please also know that the City Council Ordinance 119505 Crowd Control Tool goes into effect this weekend, Sunday, July 26th.
00:17:40.000 This ordinance bans Seattle police officers the use of less lethal tools, including pepper spray that is commonly used to disperse crowds that have turned violent.
00:17:47.000 Simply put, the legislation gives officers no ability to safely intercede to preserve property in the midst of a large violent crowd.
00:17:54.000 It is important to bring to your attention that yesterday I sent the City Council a letter ensuring them that as Chief of Police, I have done my due diligence of informing them numerous times of the foreseeable impact of this ordinance on upcoming events.
00:18:04.000 The letter is attached for your reference.
00:18:06.000 For these reasons, Seattle Police will have an adjusted deployment in response to any demonstrations this weekend, as I will never ask our officers to risk their personal safety to protect property without the tools to do so in a safe way.
00:18:19.000 That's insane!
00:18:20.000 So the Seattle PD is already announcing that if you mob a place, they're not showing up because they don't have pepper spray because the city council banned the pepper spray.
00:18:27.000 They're announcing preemptive surrender.
00:18:29.000 Preemptive surrender.
00:18:30.000 Seattle PD is saying, you're on your own, guys.
00:18:32.000 Sorry, not much we can do.
00:18:35.000 Also, the PD has announced in Seattle that they've been arresting people who are firing mortars.
00:18:40.000 Mortars!
00:18:42.000 Police have made at least three arrests at Seattle PD over the weekend and continue to work to disperse large crowd on Capitol Hill.
00:18:48.000 Earlier incident was determined to be a life safety issue violation, declared a riot.
00:18:53.000 Individuals continue to throw explosives and fire mortars at police.
00:18:56.000 At least two officers have been injured.
00:18:59.000 So that's what's happening in Seattle, where by the way, this thing didn't start, right?
00:19:03.000 Seattle, we now have this running cycle, right?
00:19:05.000 This started with Chop Chaz in Seattle, then Portland was like, you know what's great, Chop Chaz, let's do that here.
00:19:09.000 Then the Feds came in, and then Seattle was like, that's bad, the Feds went to Portland, let's do it again.
00:19:14.000 Solid, solid stuff happening all across the country.
00:19:17.000 Meanwhile, in Portland, Chad Wolf, the head of the DHS, the acting secretary of DHS, who was on the show last week, he announced that several federal officers may have been blinded.
00:19:26.000 They may have lost their vision as a result of these bastards in the streets firing lasers into the eyes of federal law enforcement.
00:19:33.000 Here's Chad Wolf explaining.
00:19:36.000 Two to three different officers.
00:19:38.000 We are waiting on final results to see how much of their eyesight will permanently be lost because of the activity of these criminals.
00:19:46.000 As you indicated, they are shining lasers, high-powerful lasers, into officers' eyes as they emerge from the courthouse.
00:19:53.000 So we're taking steps.
00:19:53.000 We're taking steps to address that.
00:19:55.000 And we'll continue to protect our officers at all costs.
00:19:58.000 And again, all I need is the city of Portland to step up and do their job.
00:20:04.000 This is insane.
00:20:05.000 Insane.
00:20:05.000 Federal police officers, federal law enforcement are being blinded on the job.
00:20:10.000 And the media are like, Trump.
00:20:11.000 Trump's so bad.
00:20:13.000 Trump's so bad.
00:20:14.000 By the way, Portland's basically shut down.
00:20:16.000 So thanks to the pandemic, business was already pretty slow.
00:20:19.000 Now, because they're basically taking over city blocks Antifa and tossing trash everywhere, they're tossing trash at police officers trying to draw a response, elicit a response.
00:20:28.000 Now, businesses are not even operating in Portland, according to the Oregonian.
00:20:33.000 Office buildings remain empty because of the pandemic.
00:20:35.000 Tourists have yet to return, taking away a large customer base for many downtown businesses.
00:20:39.000 More tents have appeared along the sidewalks near downtown, as the city has limited cleanups of homeless camps due to the pandemic.
00:20:46.000 Those factors have limited foot traffic in downtown.
00:20:48.000 TriMet says trips downtown are down more than 75% this summer compared to last year.
00:20:52.000 Parking meter transactions are down a similar amount.
00:20:55.000 Hotel occupancy in the central state is the worst in the state, down 73%.
00:20:59.000 Eric Murfit, controller of Mercantile, a family-owned downtown clothing store that's been in business for 45 years, reopened his shop in May when Oregon governor Kate Brown eased coronavirus restrictions for many businesses.
00:21:10.000 Mercantile's reopening was short-lived.
00:21:12.000 Thousands of demonstrators took to the streets on the night of May 30th to protest police brutality.
00:21:17.000 But the night of upheaval ended with break-ins and looting in downtown.
00:21:20.000 Murphitt watched on his live security footage feed as looters trashed his stores and police officers failed to intervene.
00:21:25.000 He said officers later came to take his statement and collect security footage, but haven't been in touch since.
00:21:29.000 Other businesses that were hit that night told similar stories.
00:21:32.000 Murphitt, like other downtown business owners, said he's a strong supporter of BLM, but he is not sympathetic to those that have used the movement as a cover for looting and violence.
00:21:40.000 He said he hopes his store can reopen in August, but he needs assurances his business can be protected.
00:21:44.000 The most important pressing thing on my mind is that city leadership is going to do to restore peace and order.
00:21:50.000 By the way, I do love the irony of people saying, I'm a big BLM supporter.
00:21:53.000 Also, they're calling for defund the police.
00:21:55.000 Also, I want the police to protect me.
00:21:57.000 It's one thing to say that you are against police brutality, like all sentient humans.
00:22:01.000 It is another thing to say that you are a big supporter of Black Lives Matter, whose chief agenda item is defunding the police and having them not protect law-abiding citizens.
00:22:10.000 We're going to get to more places that have turned into centers of chaos across the country in just one second, including in Portland.
00:22:17.000 There's a story from AP that demonstrates just how wild things are getting and Democrats in denial, like open denial and or threatening that this stuff isn't going to end unless Donald Trump leaves office, which is saying the quiet part out loud, which is basically threatening law abiding American citizens.
00:22:30.000 We are going to burn the major cities until we get what we want.
00:22:34.000 Which is effectively a form of terrorism.
00:22:37.000 Terrorism is the use of violence to enact a political end.
00:22:41.000 The use of illegal violence in order to enact a political end is basically the textbook definition of terrorism.
00:22:45.000 If you are burning down cities and saying we're going to do this until you elect our candidate, Hard not to see that as a form of terrorism.
00:22:52.000 We're going to get to more of this in just one second.
00:22:55.000 First, when running a business, HR issues can kill you.

00:24:06.000 So over in Portland, according to the Associated Press, As night fell, music stopped and the march to the federal courthouse began.
00:24:14.000 Two blocks west, one block south, the several dozen federal law enforcement agents guarding the Mark Hatfield Federal Courthouse could see the protesters coming.
00:24:21.000 Under orders to protect the courthouse, federal property that has been increasingly targeted as the city's protests against racial injustice march on, the agents were accustomed to the drill.
00:24:29.000 Tonight, the crowd was huge, estimated at 4,000 people, the largest they had seen.
00:24:35.000 The top commander with the U.S.
00:24:36.000 Marshal Service peered out a window facing the Willamette River and watched the sea of humanity sweep toward him.
00:24:40.000 It was gonna be another long night.
00:24:42.000 The courthouse looked like a feudal castle under siege.
00:24:44.000 The outside was boarded up with thick plywood, narrow slits at the top of the plywood, accessed by a mechanized scaffolding, gave the agents inside a view of the crowd and an opening through which to fire pepper balls.
00:24:54.000 The terrace outside the front door was littered with garbage, the steps leading to the courthouse splattered with paint.
00:24:58.000 A mixture of anti-police and BLM graffiti covered the building's outer walls and columns to a height of about 10 feet.
00:25:04.000 Tear gas still hung in the air, coated the floor with the slime that had been hurriedly mopped up by the custodians earlier that day.
00:25:11.000 In the no man's land outside stood the fence, a thick black iron installation erected six days before, a dividing line between protesters and protector, a stark separation between two radically different worldviews.
00:25:21.000 To the protesters, the men inside the Battentown courthouse are at best thoughtless political minions, at worst murderous henchmen for protecting a courthouse.
00:25:30.000 For protecting a courthouse.
00:25:31.000 Why?
00:25:32.000 Because again, there's a deeper ideology at work.
00:25:34.000 It's something I discuss in my new book, How to Destroy America in Three Easy Steps.
00:25:37.000 I say in the book, there will be tolerance of violence.
00:25:39.000 It will happen from the left.
00:25:41.000 Because people have decided the system is rotten to the core, and that means that all the elements of the system, including courthouses, have to go.
00:25:47.000 To the agents inside, the demonstrations that pack the downtown each night are violent anarchists.
00:25:51.000 Well, yes.
00:25:53.000 Yes.
00:25:54.000 According to one Deputy U.S.
00:25:56.000 Marshal, he said, I can't walk outside without being in fear of my life.
00:25:58.000 I'm worried for my life every time I walk outside the building.
00:26:02.000 Journalists from the AP were both outside with the protesters and inside.
00:26:05.000 And what they report from the inside is pretty damned frightening.
00:26:09.000 At 10.15pm in Portland, the protesters made their first foray into conflict.
00:26:13.000 A man tried to climb the fence and was quickly arrested.
00:26:14.000 30 minutes later, the fence rocked and leaned sharply as dozens of protesters pressed their weight against it, some of them throwing their bodies against it at a running start.
00:26:22.000 The fence undulated like a wave and tilted dangerously before springing back.
00:26:27.000 Behind the front lines, drummers that had whipped demonstrations up at the fountain regrouped and led the crowd in dancing and chanting.
00:26:34.000 Four small pods of three to four protesters dressed in black circulated in the crowd, stopping every few minutes to point green laser beams in the eyes of agents posted as lookouts on porticos in the courthouse's upper stories.
00:26:44.000 The agents above were silhouetted against the dark sky as dozens of green laser dots and a large spotlight played on the courthouse walls projected from the back of the crowd.
00:26:51.000 By the way, those laser beams are designed to blind agents.
00:26:56.000 Inside the courthouse, it was dark, pitch black, except for one narrow ceiling bulb that cast a cone of light over the stairs.
00:27:01.000 Despite the bright lights, the agents hoped they would be better protected from people in the crowd who were firing metal ball bearings through the windows with slingshots.
00:27:08.000 Thick ribbons of green light from blinding lasers crisscrossed the courthouse lobby.
00:27:11.000 This is Mad Max kind of stuff.
00:27:13.000 Forcing the agents who were resting in between deployments to the fence to duck and weave to protect their eyes.
00:27:18.000 Agents on scaffolding fired pepper balls through the window slits at the crowd, while others sat quietly on marble benches in the lobby alone or in small groups and waited for their turn at the fence.
00:27:28.000 Every few minutes, the huge boom from commercial-grade fireworks tossed over the fence caused the walls to rattle.
00:27:32.000 The crowd outside cheered as explosions of red, white, and green flashed against a thick curtain of yellowish tear gas.
00:27:37.000 And by the way, they've been throwing cans and rocks at the officers.
00:27:41.000 Good stuff.
00:27:42.000 Good stuff.
00:27:43.000 Now, what exactly are people doing about this?
00:27:46.000 The Democrats are doing nothing.
00:27:48.000 Literally nothing.
00:27:48.000 The police officers do not exist in this region.
00:27:50.000 I talked to Ami Horowitz, who was in Portland a couple of days ago.
00:27:54.000 My friend Ami, the documentarian, he said the cops were nowhere to be found.
00:27:58.000 Mayor Ted Wheeler has pulled the cops.
00:28:01.000 And meanwhile, over in Oakland, hundreds of protesters have taken the streets of downtown Oakland Saturday night.
00:28:07.000 Some vandalized the police station, broke windows, spray-painted, shot fireworks, pointed lasers at officers and helicopters, according to officials.
00:28:14.000 Police said demonstrators in the area of 17th and Lakeside are breaking windows and chanting racial slurs at residents.
00:28:20.000 That's not something that'll be widely reported, I would imagine.
00:28:23.000 They're chanting racial slurs, you know, to stand up for tolerance and adversity and how America's racist.
00:28:29.000 Meanwhile, in Austin, a man was shot dead.
00:28:32.000 He was shot dead because apparently, according to local police, he approached a car on the freeway, basically, which was surrounded, and pointed the gun at the person in the car who happened to be armed.
00:28:45.000 According to the New York Times, Garrett Foster was carrying an AK-47 rifle as he joined a BLM demonstration blocks from the state capitol in Austin.
00:28:54.000 Foster, wearing a black bandana and a baseball cap, bumped into an independent journalist at the march on Saturday.
00:28:59.000 He spoke matter-of-factly about the weapon.
00:29:01.000 He said they don't let us march in the streets anymore, so I gotta practice some of our rights.
00:29:05.000 He said if I use it against cops, I'm dead.
00:29:07.000 Later that night, he was fatally shot, but not by the cops.
00:29:09.000 The authorities said he was killed by a motorist who had a confrontation with protesters.
00:29:14.000 The police and witnesses said the man in the car turned it aggressively toward the marchers and Foster then approached it.
00:29:18.000 The driver opened fire, shooting Foster three times.
00:29:20.000 He was rushed to a hospital and was later pronounced dead.
00:29:23.000 Okay, that is one description of the incident.
00:29:24.000 Another local description of the incident says the opposite.
00:29:27.000 Austin's police chief told reporters as the motorist turned, a crowd of protesters surrounded the vehicle.
00:29:32.000 Some struck the car.
00:29:33.000 The driver then opened fire from inside the car as Foster approached because he's carrying a gun approaching the car.
00:29:39.000 Minutes after the shooting, the driver called 911, said he'd been involved in a shooting and had driven away from the scene.
00:29:43.000 The caller said he'd shot someone who had approached the driver's window and pointed a rifle at him.
00:29:47.000 His account is that Foster pointed the weapon directly at him and he fired his handgun at Foster.
00:29:52.000 Both the driver and the person who fired and the other person who fired a weapon were detained and interviewed by detectives.
00:29:58.000 So the way the media are going to cover this is that it's the murder of a protester when, in fact, it turns out there's a disputed circumstance and it turns out that, according to witnesses and the person in the car, the car was surrounded by people.
00:30:09.000 Which, by the way, if you are surrounded, as I've said before, if you are surrounded by a bunch of people and you keep driving, that is not your fault.
00:30:17.000 What are you supposed to do?
00:30:18.000 Just sit there as people try to break you?
00:30:20.000 I mean, like, I don't understand.
00:30:22.000 I don't understand the logic here.
00:30:25.000 In a story that is not going to be mentioned by the media, by the way, there was a Blue Lives Matter protester who was run down, deliberately apparently, by a man in a maroon SUV.
00:30:35.000 This is in Eaton, Colorado.
00:30:36.000 Amazing.
00:30:37.000 One of these things will be covered by the mass media.
00:30:38.000 One of these things will not.
00:30:39.000 to a report of a man in a maroon SUV attempting to drive through or over a crowd of pedestrians.
00:30:43.000 Those pedestrians were holding a Blue Lives Matter demonstration.
00:30:45.000 Amazing.
00:30:46.000 One of these things will be covered by the mass media.
00:30:49.000 One of these things will not.
00:30:50.000 Right.
00:30:51.000 One is a disputed situation in which a protester who is armed and is now and is approaching on public property a person.
00:30:58.000 He's not licensed to protest, presumably.
00:31:00.000 Stopping cars in the middle of the road, right?
00:31:02.000 And allegedly pointing a gun at the car before being shot.
00:31:05.000 That will be covered widely in the media.
00:31:07.000 A man running down Blue Lives Matter protesters, that will not receive national media coverage in any real way.
00:31:14.000 Again, the cause matters here.
00:31:16.000 Right?
00:31:16.000 The cause matters here.
00:31:17.000 If the narrative does not support what is being driven by the media, namely that the protesters are peaceful and wonderful, and everybody else is super bad, then they just will ignore the story for the most part.
00:31:27.000 The good news is that we do have some peaceful protests, by the way.
00:31:30.000 There was yoga against racism in DC.
00:31:31.000 So that was exciting.
00:31:34.000 I thought it was really great.
00:31:35.000 I mean, like, there it is.
00:31:36.000 You see how we're solving racism?
00:31:38.000 One free pose at a time, one downward dog at a time.
00:31:42.000 Solving racism.
00:31:45.000 By white woke ladies in Lululemon pants.
00:31:49.000 Very exciting stuff.
00:31:50.000 By the way, we are very serious in this country.
00:31:52.000 This is very serious stuff.
00:31:53.000 You know we're serious when we're having giant dance parties in the middle of a pandemic and yoga classes to protest in favor of Black Lives Matter.
00:32:00.000 Very solid stuff.
00:32:01.000 So what is the Democratic agenda here?
00:32:03.000 Why exactly is this not being shut down?
00:32:04.000 This is all happening universally in Democratic cities.
00:32:06.000 Why?
00:32:07.000 We'll get to that in just one second.
00:32:09.000 First, let's talk about the fact that hiring can be difficult.

00:32:18.000 HousingWire could relate.
00:32:20.000 They needed to hire an ambitious reporter to cover news on the U.S.

00:32:24.000 ZipRecruiter's smart matching technology finds people with the right experience for your job.
00:32:29.000 In fact, four out of five employers who post on ZipRecruiter got a quality candidate within the very first day.

00:32:35.000 Alexandra didn't think she could get a reporter job in the middle of a pandemic, but in fact, she could.
00:32:39.000 She created a profile on ZipRecruiter.
00:32:41.000 ZipRecruiter matched her to the HousingWire job, and she got her dream career started.
00:32:45.000 ZipRecruiter helped Alexandra find the right job.
00:32:47.000 They helped HousingWire find the right person for that role.
00:32:50.000 We use ZipRecruiter here at DailyWire.
00:32:52.000 So let's say that we had a producer Who made the very poor decision, Katie, to decide to go into another profession, like, you know, helping children or something.
00:32:59.000 I mean, come on!
00:33:00.000 Come on!
00:33:00.000 Well, we would need to replace somebody, presumably.
00:33:03.000 And if we needed to replace somebody, we would probably look to ZipRecruiter.

00:33:38.000 That is the end.
00:33:39.000 That is the end.
00:33:40.000 I've signed literally tens of thousands of copies.
00:33:42.000 Okay, my signature has been reduced to a mere scrawl.
00:33:46.000 There will be no left in a few days.
00:33:47.000 So, go get your copy of a signed copy of How to Destroy America in 3 Easy Steps right now.
00:33:51.000 Dailywire.com slash Ben.
00:33:53.000 As I've been talking about, the book covers the two fundamentally different visions of America now on the table, the unionist vision and the disintegrationist vision.
00:34:00.000 The unionist vision says we should stay together as a country and we have a lot in common, like the philosophy of the Declaration of Independence and the history of the United States and a culture that actually cares about abiding by the law and inculcating virtue.
00:34:12.000 And then you have the disintegrationists who want to destroy all this stuff.
00:34:14.000 And that's everybody from the 1619 Project to the rioters who are now trying to destroy American cities.
00:34:20.000 Go check out How to Destroy America in three easy steps.
00:34:22.000 It's not just a description of the situation or a prophecy, although it seems really prophetic right now.
00:34:27.000 It also happens to be an antidote to what is happening right now.
00:34:30.000 So buy one for yourself and buy one for somebody who is a liberal, right?
00:34:33.000 Not somebody on the woke left.
00:34:34.000 Buy somebody for a liberal, because I promise you they'll end up agreeing with most of the book.
00:34:39.000 What we need right now is a little unity against the woke left that is destroying the country, one riot at a time.
00:34:45.000 Go get your copy before it sells out right now.
00:34:47.000 Get your signed copy before it sells out right now at dailywire.com.

00:34:56.000 That happened this year.
00:34:58.000 One million years ago.
00:35:00.000 And the leftist media, they just continue to lie.
00:35:02.000 Lie and lie and lie and lie.

00:35:58.000 You're listening to the largest, fastest growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:36:02.000 Well, so why are the Democrats not doing anything about this?
00:36:11.000 Why?
00:36:12.000 Why?
00:36:12.000 All the cities are burning?
00:36:14.000 They are very upset with President Trump.
00:36:16.000 The answer is pretty obvious at this point.
00:36:18.000 And that is, for a lot of Democrats, they're willing to wink and nod at this so long as they think it's a political tool.
00:36:23.000 They believe that a feeling of chaos will drive Trump from office.
00:36:25.000 Trump's the president.
00:36:26.000 Feelings of chaos do not redound to the benefit of the sitting president.
00:36:29.000 And so, they're perfectly willing to go along with the chaos.
00:36:32.000 They're rooting for the chaos, as I mentioned last week.
00:36:34.000 Nancy Pelosi, who's very, very bad at nicknames, by the way, she has decided that President Trump is Mr. Make Matters Worse.
00:36:40.000 Which, like, don't do the nicknames, Nancy.
00:36:42.000 Here she was.
00:36:45.000 Let's just get to the heart of it.
00:36:47.000 The point of all of this is this president, I have a new name for him, Mr. Make Matters Worse.
00:36:54.000 He has made matters worse from the start.
00:36:56.000 Delay, denial, it's a hoax, it'll go away magically, it's a miracle, and all the rest.
00:37:02.000 And we're in this situation that you spelled out some of the numbers very clearly early.
00:37:08.000 Okay, so they're trying to claim that Trump makes everything worse, right?
00:37:10.000 From the violence in America's major cities to the pandemic, it's all about Trump.
00:37:13.000 Everything's about Trump.
00:37:15.000 This is why you get Lori Lightfoot, the mayor of Chicago, who, by the way, is taking federal support.
00:37:18.000 We mentioned last week she cut a deal with the feds to bring in more resources.
00:37:21.000 And then she took down a Columbus statue because she's a weakling.
00:37:24.000 So Lori Lightfoot, the terrible mayor of Chicago who's presided over mass violence in her streets for literally, at this point, years, she says we can't let anybody play police in our streets.
00:37:33.000 You're right.
00:37:33.000 She won't even let the police play police in her streets.
00:37:35.000 She says the feds can't come in here and enforce the law.
00:37:38.000 That would be bad.
00:37:41.000 No troops, no agents that are coming in outside of our knowledge, notification, and control that are violating people's constitutional rights.
00:37:50.000 That's the framework.
00:37:52.000 We can't just allow anyone to come into Chicago, play police in our streets, in our neighborhoods, when they don't know the first thing about our city.
00:38:01.000 That's a recipe for disaster.
00:38:03.000 And that's what you're seeing playing out in Portland on a nightly basis.
00:38:07.000 We don't need that here.
00:38:08.000 That is not a value add, and it doesn't help enhance It's Trump's fault.
00:38:12.000 It's the feds, right?
00:38:13.000 So it doesn't matter that the violence preceded the feds.
00:38:15.000 It's the feds, right?
00:38:16.000 It's all Trump's fault.
00:38:18.000 I've talked about the theory of Trump of the gaps.
00:38:20.000 Trump of the gaps is like God of the gaps.
00:38:21.000 So atheists constantly claim, wrongly, that religious people find God where the science doesn't go.
00:38:26.000 So they'll find an area of science that is not easily explained.
00:38:29.000 They'll say, ah, that's where God lives.
00:38:30.000 Right, and so atheists call this the God of the Gaps argument.
00:38:32.000 It's not a particular, it's not a good argument by atheists, and people who use it on the religious side are not really doing religion correctly, but that is the argument.
00:38:40.000 God of the Gaps.
00:38:41.000 For the left, it's Trump of the Gaps.
00:38:42.000 Anything bad in America can easily be attributed to Trump, and also, Trump is the Big Bang of American politics.
00:38:48.000 Nothing existed up until Trump, and until Trump gets involved in an issue, the issue doesn't exist.
00:38:53.000 You see this from the media all the time.
00:38:54.000 So there'll be a major issue that crops up, Trump will comment on it, it'll be like, Trump launches assault on X.
00:39:00.000 Okay.
00:39:01.000 Riots have been going on in Seattle.
00:39:02.000 They're going on in Portland.
00:39:04.000 Right?
00:39:04.000 This has been happening.
00:39:05.000 Trump sends in the feds to protect federal property as he is obligated to do under federal law.
00:39:09.000 And it's Trump started it!
00:39:11.000 Time didn't begin with Trump.
00:39:14.000 Trump is not the Big Bang of American politics.
00:39:16.000 This stuff's been going on for weeks.
00:39:17.000 Jenny Durkin, the awful mayor of Seattle, she says the fabric of America is being shredded, not by the people in her streets who've been taking over city blocks and wrecking her city for months on end at this point.
00:39:27.000 It's being shredded because Trump sent in some federal law enforcement to, you know, enforce the law in a way she will not do.
00:39:34.000 And again, this is in a city where the Seattle police chief is saying we can't even defend against mobs because we've been robbed of that ability by the mayor and the city council.
00:39:42.000 I know how important it is for federal law enforcement to work with local law enforcement.
00:39:48.000 As a Chief Federal Law Enforcement Officer, as U.S.
00:39:50.000 Attorney, I know that that's an important relationship.
00:39:54.000 I've never seen anything like this in my career, where federal agents are sent in, not even with the cooperation of local law enforcement, but over their objection.
00:40:05.000 It's unprecedented, and it's the wrong way to go.
00:40:08.000 The fabric of America is being shredded before our eyes, Chris, and it worries me greatly.
00:40:13.000 The fabric of America is being—not when they have Chas Chopp in the middle of her city, and when people are getting shot, but the cop's not being there.
00:40:19.000 The fabric of America is shredded by the fact that President Trump is there, right?
00:40:22.000 This is the actual Democratic strategy.
00:40:24.000 There's a tacit threat here.
00:40:26.000 Ron Brownstein, who's a columnist for The Atlantic, He has a column over the weekend called Trump is determined to split the country in two.
00:40:33.000 He's trying to rally red America by portraying blue cities as a threat and then positioning himself as the human wall against them.
00:40:39.000 And the basic suggestion here is that if Trump would just leave it alone or go away, like if Trump resigned, everything would be all better.
00:40:45.000 That would fix everything.
00:40:46.000 Joe Scarborough was doing the same routine over the weekend.
00:40:49.000 He was tweeting out, quote, much of what is happening in Seattle, Portland and other West Coast cities is not peaceful.
00:40:54.000 Trump's dangerous application of federal force has elicited I-L-L-I-C-I-T-E-D.
00:40:59.000 That's not how you spell elicited.
00:41:01.000 Elicited would be like...
00:41:03.000 I mean, I could make a joke here about particular media figures, but he's looking for E-L-I-C, right?
00:41:10.000 Elicited.
00:41:12.000 The response he and Barr were hoping for, right?
00:41:13.000 It's all about Trump.
00:41:14.000 And if you just got rid of Trump, then the violence would go away, right?
00:41:18.000 This is the tacit threat.
00:41:20.000 The tacit threat is, unless you get rid of Trump, the violence will not go away.
00:41:23.000 Unless you give us what we want, the violence will not go away.
00:41:26.000 And this has a long history in democratic politics, unfortunately.
00:41:29.000 This has been going on for literally decades.
00:41:32.000 Mayors of local areas basically allowing violence to creep out of control so they could then turn to the law-abiding citizens and say, you know what?
00:41:38.000 We need to raise your taxes and we need to pay off these rioters so they leave you alone.
00:41:41.000 This goes all the way back to the 1960s.
00:41:43.000 There's a social scientist named Fred Siegel, one of the founders of Manhattan Institute.
00:41:48.000 He wrote a book called The Future Once Happened Here.
00:41:50.000 Fantastic, fantastic book all about the decline of America's major cities in the 1960s.
00:41:54.000 Prominent politicians, he talks about, like Attorney General Nicholas Katzenbach, warned of riots in 30 or 40 cities if LBJ's favored legislation providing funding to inner-city communities was not rammed through Congress.
00:42:05.000 Siegel wrote, as the immediate threat of riots subsided, liberals would argue that more money for the cities was essential, if not to halt riots, than to contain the still-rising racial anger which expressed itself in rising rates of often violent crime.
00:42:17.000 D.C.
00:42:17.000 Mayor Marion Barry embraced this logic.
00:42:20.000 You know, like the drug user and abuser who ended up in jail and then became mayor again.
00:42:24.000 He said of the violent activities of the Black Panthers, quote, I think that everything that anybody does is good.
00:42:29.000 I'm serious.
00:42:30.000 For instance, I know for a fact that white people get scared of the Black Panthers.
00:42:34.000 And they might look at somebody a little bit more moderate and say, well, let's give them a little money.
00:42:37.000 New York Mayor John Lindsay, officially a Republican, but never really a conservative, routinely caved to this kind of pressure.
00:42:44.000 He said welfare expansion would be a necessary precondition to stopping riots.
00:42:48.000 He said, quote, our experience is that, this is one of his aides, our experience is that some good can come of confrontation politics.
00:42:55.000 This hasn't been relegated to race riots, by the way.
00:42:57.000 This has been true throughout kind of democratic policy.
00:43:00.000 After MLK was murdered in 1968, for example, the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employees blackmailed the city of Memphis with the threat of riots.
00:43:07.000 The head of the AFSCME called an assistant to then Vice President Hubert Humphrey and informed him that violence would occur if Memphis didn't capitulate to the union demands.
00:43:17.000 He said, I don't know what buttons to press, but GD, Memphis is going to burn.
00:43:21.000 The White House sent an emissary to Memphis and Memphis quickly capitulated to the union.
00:43:26.000 And this is the line that is used by the left on a routine basis.
00:43:28.000 It's been going on for years.
00:43:29.000 Back in 2016, there were riots in Milwaukee, and a columnist named German Lopez of Vox wrote, quote, riots are the culmination of a serious distrust in the system and can lead to real, substantial change. Now, this is, it's fascinating because there have been some studies that you're not allowed to cite that talk about how riots actually drive voters away from the causes But in local areas, that's not necessarily true.
00:43:52.000 In local areas, politicians either foster the riots or cave to the riots because they are hopeful that they can convince everybody to pay off the rioters and that everything will go away.
00:44:00.000 Or they hope that the rioters are Actually pursuing policies they want.
00:44:03.000 So they'll play a sort of inside-outside game like Ted Wheeler is doing in Portland, where he's like, you know, I kind of agree with the rioters, so if they do this, maybe it'll show everybody that the system's bad, and then I will make some sort of concession, and then everything will go away.
00:44:16.000 Well, the main line, media and left, concession that they're looking for is for Trump to go away.
00:44:22.000 The day after Joe Biden is elected, this all ends.
00:44:25.000 That's a... Okay, that is my prediction.
00:44:28.000 Within a month, after Joe Biden takes office, this all peters out.
00:44:32.000 Why?
00:44:32.000 Because all this is is a pressure tactic being applied to law-abiding Americans, which is disgusting.
00:44:38.000 If you are burning cities because you're trying to apply pressure tactics in any democratic polity, then you are, in fact, engaging in a form of political terrorism.
00:44:47.000 And for cities to stand by and cave to that is not only the height of irresponsibility, it's incredibly dangerous, and it makes them complicit in this act.
00:44:55.000 It's horrifying.
00:44:57.000 And that is what you're watching across the country.
00:44:59.000 There is a purpose to the madness.
00:45:00.000 There's a purpose to the madness.
00:45:03.000 People are fostering the chaos because they hope that it will end with policy they like.
00:45:06.000 They are hoping to pressure citizens into capitulating.
00:45:09.000 They are hoping that law-abiding citizens will simply say, okay, no MAS, take my money, raise my taxes, get rid of the cops, I'll look inside my own heart at my own white fragility.
00:45:19.000 That's what we've seen in Minneapolis.
00:45:20.000 The cops have disappeared, the crime rates are rising, and many white citizens in Minneapolis who feel victimized by the crime, right, there's a whole article about this in the New York Times, are saying, well, you know, I guess maybe we kind of deserve it and maybe we should do all the things that people want us to do.
00:45:34.000 None of this is going to alleviate any of the underlying problems, of course.
00:45:38.000 The fact is that you can tear down the systems, and the great lie is that when you tear down the systems, everything gets better for everybody.
00:45:42.000 That's a bunch of crap.
00:45:43.000 You tear down the system of law enforcement, the people who pay the most, by every available stat, are poor minorities.
00:45:49.000 Those are the people who paid the most in New York.
00:45:51.000 They're paying the most in Chicago.
00:45:52.000 They're paying the most in LA.
00:45:53.000 They're paying the most everywhere.
00:45:55.000 Those are the people who feel the brunt.
00:45:57.000 But for the white, woke left, particularly, And now they're using BLM as sort of an excuse.
00:46:03.000 Tearing down the system has always been the goal.
00:46:05.000 So here's the question.
00:46:06.000 Are liberals going to cave to the white woke left?
00:46:09.000 Are they going to cave to the causes of BLM, which is not white, obviously?
00:46:12.000 Are they going to cave to the woke left generally?
00:46:16.000 And are they going to use the woke left as a baton to club other good little liberals into line?
00:46:21.000 Or will there be enough liberals to stand up and take hands with conservatives they disagree with and say, no, you know what?
00:46:25.000 In a fundamentally Republican, small r, Republican or Democratic, small d, a fundamentally free country ruled by the people, through their ballot box, this cannot be allowed to stand.
00:46:38.000 This should be a point of unity.
00:46:39.000 No American should stand for rioting, looting.
00:46:42.000 No American should stand for laser pointers being pointed at federal law enforcement agents who are protecting federal courthouses.
00:46:47.000 No one should be standing for this.
00:46:48.000 But instead, you have disgusting, ridiculous people like Jerry Nadler saying that Antifa's a myth, what's happening in Portland's a myth, poof, it doesn't exist.
00:46:57.000 Here was Jerry Nadler being asked about violence in Portland by Fleckus and saying it doesn't exist, it's all a figment of your imagination.
00:47:04.000 You disavowed the violence from Antifa?
00:47:07.000 That's happening in Portland right now?
00:47:08.000 That's a myth that's being spread only in Washington, D.C.
00:47:12.000 About Antifa in Portland?
00:47:14.000 Yes.
00:47:14.000 Sir, there's videos everywhere online.
00:47:16.000 There's fires and riots.
00:47:17.000 They're throwing fireworks at federal officers.
00:47:21.000 DHS is there.
00:47:22.000 Look online.
00:47:23.000 It gets crazy, Mr. Nadler.
00:47:26.000 Unbelievable.
00:47:27.000 I mean, unbelievable.
00:47:29.000 You can see the footage everywhere, but this is why you can't trust the media.
00:47:32.000 Because only now are the media starting to report on the violence, and even when they do, it's through the prism of, but if Trump would just go away and remove the feds, then everything would be all better.
00:47:39.000 Which, by the way, is the same exact line as if you remove all cops, crime goes down.
00:47:43.000 If you remove all cops, the racial situation in America is alleviated, and racial inequality is somehow vitiated.
00:47:50.000 The same line, with the same predictably stupid and horrible effects.
00:47:54.000 The fact that there are so many liberals who are willing to go along with this shows that they're not actually liberals.
00:47:58.000 They actually are on the left.
00:47:59.000 At a certain point, compliance with the left becomes membership in it.
00:48:03.000 When I have made the distinction on this show consistently for years between the left and liberals, I've said liberals are people who agree with me on fundamental American rights.
00:48:10.000 They just disagree on the role of government in preserving those rights.
00:48:13.000 The left disagrees on a fundamental level with American rights.
00:48:16.000 This is what I talk about and how to destroy America in three easy steps.
00:48:18.000 Once liberals start caving to the left and make common cause with people who want to destroy those rights and are out rioting and looting in the streets and blaming law enforcement for trying to stop all of that, they're no longer liberals.
00:48:28.000 They've now converted over to the left and they should be treated as such.
00:48:31.000 Meaning they should not be treated with this sort of...
00:48:34.000 Open-minded tolerance for open discussion that the right treats liberals with.
00:48:40.000 Doesn't mean they don't have a right to speak freely.
00:48:42.000 Everybody has a right to speak freely.
00:48:44.000 But let's stop pretending that this is inside the Overton window.
00:48:46.000 Once you're firing fireworks at police officers, you're not inside the Overton window anymore.
00:48:49.000 And once you are greenlighting that and blaming the officers and blaming federal law enforcement for defending courthouses, you ain't inside the Overton window.
00:48:56.000 You're not.
00:48:57.000 There's no rational discussion that can be had with people who are literally promoting riots and looting.
00:49:02.000 That's not a discussion that ought to be engaged in.
00:49:06.000 Everybody's got a right to speak.
00:49:07.000 Everybody's got a right to burn the flag if they want to.
00:49:10.000 That does not mean that the conversation is worthwhile or useful.
00:49:13.000 The Overton Window needs to be maintained by liberals and conservatives, and needs to be a lot broader than it has been with the direction toward mainstream conservatism, and a lot less broad to include people who are doing acts of actual violence.
00:49:27.000 OK, meanwhile, speaking of the Overton window broadening in weird directions, got to talk for just a couple of minutes about this insane promo that was put out by Netflix.
00:49:34.000 So it's always good to know that the companies that you spend your money on are using that money in order to promote insane social leftist policies.
00:49:42.000 So Netflix is now pushing open trans propaganda.
00:49:44.000 I mean, absolute propaganda, not just the sort of normal stuff that you see in On mainstream television channels with the assumption that men can become women and women can become men.
00:49:54.000 But now they are lecturing medical professionals.
00:49:56.000 The medical professionals are supposed to treat biological boys as biological girls.
00:50:00.000 So yesterday Netflix put out a tweet.
00:50:03.000 The tweet was, I guess this is from a show.
00:50:06.000 It's called, here's what they tweeted out.
00:50:10.000 I guess there was some sort of documentary that they did on a transgender young person named Bailey, who is a biological boy that they are treating as a girl.
00:50:17.000 When Bailey comes down with a fever, Marianne rushes her to the hospital, where two doctors misgender her.
00:50:22.000 Marianne firmly corrects them.
00:50:23.000 Misgendering is traumatic.
00:50:25.000 This is one of the baseline ways cisgender people can show up for trans people in their life.
00:50:29.000 Here is the insane clip from this Netflix documentary.
00:50:34.000 I know that you guys are busy, but as you would see, if you looked at her and not her chart, Bailey is not a boy.
00:50:43.000 And by treating her like one, you are completely ignoring who she is.
00:50:48.000 You're making her feel insignificant and humiliated.
00:50:51.000 And that's not gonna help her feel good or safe or calm.
00:50:55.000 So, from here on out, please recognize her for who she is.
00:51:01.000 And if at all possible, could you find me a non-blue hospital gown?
00:51:04.000 I apologize.
00:51:22.000 Okay, well, here's the thing.
00:51:24.000 They better hope, Bailey was in the hospital for a fever, here.
00:51:27.000 They better damn well hope that Bailey ain't in the hospital for testicular torsion.
00:51:33.000 They better hope, because Bailey's in the hospital for testicular torsion and the doctors are supposed to treat Bailey as a girl.
00:51:37.000 It's gonna be kind of awkward.
00:51:39.000 This is so stupid.
00:51:40.000 By the way, we've had cases in the United States where people have literally died because of this kind of nonsense.
00:51:44.000 There was a case, I believe it was in Michigan.
00:51:46.000 Where a transgender male came into the hospital, put on the forms, I am a male, reported abdominal pain.
00:51:54.000 And it turns out that the abdominal pain was because the transgender male was actually a female, a biological female, and was pregnant.
00:52:00.000 It was very overweight.
00:52:01.000 And because this person had written male on their forms, the doctors, before examining this person, didn't treat it as a medical emergency for the baby.
00:52:09.000 And the baby died.
00:52:10.000 Okay, because of this sort of nonsense.
00:52:12.000 Doctors are not in the business of your feelings.
00:52:15.000 Doesn't mean bedside manner.
00:52:16.000 Doctors are not in the business of treating your feelings as medically relevant to diagnosis of fever.
00:52:23.000 Okay, that is not the way that doctors operate.
00:52:26.000 This is nuts.
00:52:27.000 And they're stacking this into shows for kids?
00:52:29.000 Into shows for small children?
00:52:32.000 And this is a show for 9, 10, 11 year old people.
00:52:35.000 And you're being told that little boys can become little girls and that if a doctor comes in and treats a boy as a boy, the doctor has done something wrong?
00:52:43.000 Boys and girls have different biology, gang.
00:52:45.000 I'm sorry to inform you that biology matters.
00:52:47.000 But biology damn well matters!
00:52:48.000 It matters in definition of sex, it matters in definition of gender, and guess what?
00:52:52.000 It matters the most in medical contexts!
00:52:55.000 This is nuts!
00:52:56.000 Think of Bailey a vaginal exam?
00:52:58.000 I mean, Bailey is a boy!
00:53:00.000 This is a- you- This is total- It's totally crazy, obviously.
00:53:04.000 But!
00:53:05.000 This is where conservatives need to understand.
00:53:07.000 The culture is being lost on this level.
00:53:09.000 Conservatives like to fight back on the governmental.
00:53:11.000 The culture is being lost on this level.
00:53:13.000 Because conservatives refuse to fight back on the cultural level.
00:53:15.000 It makes for awkward conversations.
00:53:17.000 It means that people are afraid to speak out publicly.
00:53:20.000 But guess what?
00:53:20.000 If everybody doesn't speak out publicly, and do so loudly and at once, then people will be cowed into silence one by one.
00:53:27.000 When it comes to maintaining truth, Either we all hang together or we hang separately.
00:53:32.000 Because that's the way this is gonna work.
00:53:33.000 The left has basically dictated that everybody has to acquiesce to this nonsense.
00:53:38.000 And if you don't, if you say anything about it, then you're a cruel, nasty human being.
00:53:43.000 It seems crueler and nastier to treat a kid, in this show, if this were reality, you're talking about how old is this kid, maybe eight?
00:53:52.000 I mean, this is a little kid, maybe seven, eight years old.
00:53:56.000 You're treating this kid, As fully functional in terms of making decisions about gender that will affect him for his entire life.
00:54:05.000 And you are... And you're preaching that to children?
00:54:08.000 To confuse kids about their own gender?
00:54:10.000 I mean, it's just... It's absolute nonsense.
00:54:12.000 It's absolute sheer nonsense.
00:54:13.000 How far Hollywood has fallen.
00:54:15.000 So, I wish to pay a quick tribute here to Hollywood before it fell.
00:54:19.000 It is amazing how the talent level in Hollywood has declined so dramatically.
00:54:23.000 I mean, truly dramatically.
00:54:24.000 I was watching some Fred Astaire with my kids yesterday.
00:54:27.000 It used to be that people in Hollywood actually knew how to do things.
00:54:29.000 Like, they actually had skill sets.
00:54:30.000 I'm not saying people in Hollywood can't act.
00:54:32.000 A lot of people can.
00:54:32.000 But it used to be that they would be able to sing, they'd be able to dance.
00:54:34.000 Like, I was watching a tap routine with Fred Astaire and Rita Hayworth.
00:54:38.000 It's just unbelievable.
00:54:39.000 I mean, Rita Hayworth is really well-known as an actress.
00:54:42.000 She's a terrific, terrific dancer.
00:54:44.000 But, you know, the old actors and actresses were iconic for a reason.
00:54:49.000 Olivia de Havilland passed away yesterday.
00:54:51.000 How iconic was Olivia de Havilland?
00:54:52.000 She died at the age of 104, so a long, full life.
00:54:56.000 How iconic was she?
00:54:57.000 In back-to-back years, she played Maid Marian in The Adventures of Robin Hood, probably maybe the greatest adventure film ever made.
00:55:05.000 And then she played Melanie, Melanie Hamilton-Wilkes, in Gone with the Wind the following year.
00:55:11.000 Here are a couple of clips of Olivia de Havilland.
00:55:14.000 Are you not ashamed, my Lady Marian?
00:55:18.000 Yes, I am.
00:55:21.000 Bitterly.
00:55:22.000 But it's a shame that I'm a Norman, after seeing the things my fellow countrymen have done to England.
00:55:27.000 At first, I wouldn't believe.
00:55:28.000 Because I was a Norman, I wouldn't let myself believe that the horrors you inflicted on the Saxons were just and right.
00:55:34.000 I know now why you tried so hard to kill this outlaw whom you despised.
00:55:38.000 It's because he was the one man in England who protected the helpless against a lot of beasts who were drunk on human blood.
00:55:43.000 She's a terrific actress.
00:55:44.000 She was nominated for a couple of different Oscars.
00:55:48.000 She actually had five Academy Award nominations, and she won in 46 and in 49.
00:55:52.000 Really a terrific actress.
00:55:53.000 And if you see her play back-to-back years, in one she's playing this very glamorous mid-marian, in the other she's playing what's supposed to be a very pallid part.
00:55:59.000 And she's a very beautiful woman.
00:56:00.000 She plays it beautifully in Gone with the Wind, a movie you're no longer allowed to watch.
00:56:03.000 That's exciting stuff.
00:56:04.000 Alrighty, well, we'll be back here later today with two additional hours of content.
