Summary

Beto O'Rourke was the clear loser in the first Democratic Debates, and it's not because he said stupid things. It's because the entire Democratic Party did stupid things, and Beto was the only one who looked stupid enough to get booed for it. And that's a good thing, because he was the easy target for the rest of the clowns in the room, and they all pander to the political geniuses on social media. Beto is toast, and other candidates are going to make hay out of simply punching him in the face over and over again. Ben Shapiro breaks it all down, and explains why the media loves Beto so much, and why he's going to be a disaster in 2020, and how it's time to replace your blinds with the good stuff that looks like crap. You should replace your windows with blinds, because your house may look like crap, and you should replace it with a good tie to make it look like a good place. You're not going to get much better than that, and if it doesn't work out, you're going to have to go home and look like your house looks like a bad place. You don't need a good house, you need a bad tie to look like it looks like it's crap, because that's what happens when you're in a bad house. The Ben Shapiro Show is a show where we don't speak Spanish, not in Spanish, and we don t speak English, so you don't have to be Spanish. Ben and Ben don't care about that, but they don't really have to. . This is the Ben Shapiro show where you can't speak English but they can talk about it, but you can do it anyway, right? The show where they don t have to care about it. They don't even have to know that, they just do it because they're not English, they're just like that, so they'll just listen to it, so it's cool, right here, right ? right here on the show, amigos? Ben & Ben Shapiro - The Ben and I are here to help you understand what's going on in the show. - Ben Shapiro is here, not the other guy in the background? - and we're here to give you the highlights and the lowlights of the highlights from the debate, and the highlights of the debate.

00:00:00.000 Democrats battle it out for supremacy on the undercard, and we prepare for the bigger fight on the main card.
00:00:05.000 I'm Ben Shapiro.
00:00:06.000 This is The Ben Shapiro Show.
00:00:07.000 Bienvenidos, amigos, a The Ben Shapiro Show, where we don't speak Spanish, but we don't worry about the people who think that it is.
00:00:22.000 I know.
00:00:23.000 You thought you were listening to the Democratic debate last night.
00:00:25.000 So, the Democratic debate is a thing that happened last night.
00:00:28.000 And I didn't drink cyanide, which was my prediction yesterday.
00:00:31.000 So not all of my predictions come true.
00:00:34.000 I survived it.
00:00:35.000 I feel like I should get one of those T-shirts that says, I survived the first Democratic debate and all I got was this lousy T-shirt.
00:00:41.000 But I'll tell you who didn't survive.
00:00:42.000 It was Beto O'Rourke.
00:00:43.000 I mean, Beto O'Rourke basically wields his prone body out of the room after this debate.
00:00:48.000 So we're going to go through all the various candidates.
00:00:50.000 Did they have a good night?
00:00:52.000 Did they have a bad night?
00:00:52.000 I'll tell you who the big winner was last night.
00:00:54.000 Donald J. Trump.
00:00:56.000 That dude had a great night last night because this was not just a clown car.
00:01:00.000 This was all of the clowns popped out of the car and then started ramming each other with foam pillows.
00:01:07.000 This was all of the clowns decided to stuff themselves back into a phone booth and then wrestle with one another.
00:01:14.000 No one looked good.
00:01:15.000 Everyone looked stupid.
00:01:16.000 And one thing that became deeply apparent is that the entire Democratic Party, with maybe the exception of Joe Biden, when Joe Biden's the only sane person in your party, you are jacked, man.
00:01:26.000 But the Democratic Party has decided that the only reason they exist is to pander to the political geniuses on Twitter.
00:01:33.000 The polls show that the vast majority of Democrats are fairly moderate in their views on everything from abortion.
00:01:40.000 Yes, they're in favor of some restrictions on abortion to Medicare.
00:01:43.000 They're not in favor of Medicare for all.
00:01:45.000 They want to keep their private health care plans.
00:01:46.000 The vast majority of Democrats are fairly moderate on immigration.
00:01:50.000 They do want to see our border policed.
00:01:52.000 And yet the entirety of the Democratic Party last night competed to see who could say the most insane, extreme thing in the stupidest possible way.
00:02:01.000 Now, one of the joys of watching these debates is watching some of the puffed up balloons of these politicians just explode.
00:02:10.000 And Beto O'Rourke really had the roughest night.
00:02:12.000 It's hard to say who won because no one really ended up the big winner, but there was a very clear loser.
00:02:16.000 Everyone knew it.
00:02:17.000 And that clear loser was Beto.
00:02:19.000 Now, the reason that Beto was the clear loser is because he was the easiest target.
00:02:23.000 He's only polling at 3 or 4 percent.
00:02:25.000 He still has scabs of money in his back pocket, but he was polling really badly.
00:02:30.000 And one of the reasons that he was polling really badly is because he had been built up so much during his Senate race with Ted Cruz.
00:02:35.000 So he runs against Ted Cruz, who is an unlikable politician.
00:02:40.000 A lot of people think that he is unlikable.
00:02:42.000 The media obviously despise him in a deep and profound way.
00:02:46.000 And because the media despise him in this deep and profound way, they decided to build up Beto as though Beto was a thing.
00:02:52.000 There are stories on him.
00:02:53.000 HBO did an entire documentary running with Beto, which is just the worst thing that ever was.
00:03:00.000 And they suggested that he was charismatic.
00:03:02.000 Look at how amazing he is.
00:03:04.000 It just goes to show you that when the media build up somebody as charismatic, Three quarters of that is the media building somebody up as charismatic, not actual charisma.
00:03:12.000 And Beto was just ripe for the plucking here.
00:03:15.000 Beto was ready to fall.
00:03:16.000 He was Mike Tyson before Buster Douglas, and then Buster Douglas came along, and then Mike Tyson started losing every other fight.
00:03:23.000 And that is what has happened with Beto O'Rourke.
00:03:25.000 Beto O'Rourke is toast, and all the other candidates are going to make hay.
00:03:29.000 Out of simply punching him in the face over and over and over, as we will see.
00:03:32.000 Okay, so we're gonna get to all of the highlights and the lowlights, the joy and the despair, the laughter and the tears, the pregnant men, guess that's a thing that happened, and all of the other stupidity.
00:03:43.000 But first, good blinds are to a home what a good tie is to a suit.
00:03:46.000 It brings it all together.
00:03:47.000 You know your house?
00:03:48.000 It may look like crap.
00:03:49.000 And you're like, well, everything else here is nice.
00:03:50.000 Why does my house look like crap?
00:03:52.000 It's because you didn't actually look at the stuff that's covering your windows.
00:03:56.000 You should, and you should replace it the best way with blinds.com.
00:03:59.000 They make it really fast and really easy to shop for window coverings.

00:05:03.000 Blinds.com promo code Ben.
00:05:05.000 OK, so we begin last night with Beto.
00:05:08.000 Falling.
00:05:09.000 So Beto is basically Jeb 2016.
00:05:11.000 So Jeb came into the race, he was the frontrunner, and then Donald Trump really just pummeled the living crap out of him, and so did everybody else.
00:05:18.000 Every so often, somebody needed a boost, and Jeb Bush was like the cocaine of that race.
00:05:22.000 Like, if anybody needed a bump, they just went over to Jeb Bush, punched him, and then gained a couple of points in the polls.
00:05:27.000 Well, Beto is that.
00:05:29.000 So, Beto is highly irritating to everyone.
00:05:32.000 Because he's so puffed up, and has such a sense of his own grandeur after losing a Senate race, which is his only qualification for running for President of the United States.
00:05:39.000 After believing that the media were on his side.
00:05:41.000 I mean, you have to feel a little bad for Beto.
00:05:43.000 Beto.
00:05:44.000 Because the fact is that everybody told him how wonderful he was until the minute he wasn't running against Ted Cruz anymore.
00:05:50.000 And then they're like, yeah, that guy.
00:05:52.000 Isn't he kind of annoying?
00:05:53.000 Doesn't he have these weird mannerisms?
00:05:56.000 Isn't his personal history kind of odd?
00:05:59.000 Isn't he a rich boy playing at man of the people?
00:06:02.000 And you got to feel bad for him a little bit because he's standing there going, wait, I'm the same person I was.
00:06:06.000 Bro, I'm who I was five seconds ago.
00:06:09.000 Why are you ripping on me?
00:06:11.000 I'm just here ripping this bong.
00:06:13.000 Why are you ripping on me, brah?
00:06:15.000 And that's how it went.
00:06:16.000 So the debate opens last night and Beto is asked a question about his preferred tax rate.
00:06:23.000 Beto dodges the question by jumping into speaking Spanish and Cory Booker gives him some of the most epic side-eye in history.
00:06:32.000 So Cory Booker, Mr. Potato Head, didn't just bring his angry eyes last night.
00:06:35.000 He also brought his side-eyes last night, and the visuals were astounding.
00:06:39.000 Here's what it sounded like.
00:06:41.000 Some Democrats want a marginal individual tax rate of 70% on the very highest earners, those making more than $10 million a year.
00:06:48.000 Would you support that?
00:06:50.000 And if not, what would your top individual rate be?
00:06:53.000 We need to include each person in the success of this economy.
00:06:58.000 But if we want to do that, we need to include each person in our democracy.
00:07:05.000 Each voter needs to be...
00:07:09.000 I see Cory Booker looking at him like, Elizabeth Warren is like, what is going on?
00:07:14.000 And Cory Booker is like, I can't believe I have to learn Mandarin before the next debate.
00:07:18.000 It's so funny.
00:07:21.000 He's asked a question in English, and Beto just starts riffing on all of this.
00:07:25.000 I mean, basically... I...
00:07:29.000 I think the best part of this is that he avoided the question in Spanish.
00:07:33.000 So he didn't actually answer the question in Spanish.
00:07:35.000 He avoided the question in Spanish, which, by the way, I think is actually a pretty great tactic.
00:07:40.000 I think that next time somebody asks Cory Booker or Beto O'Rourke, anybody on stage who speaks Spanish, next time somebody asks them a question in English they don't like, they should just say, Yo no hablo ingles.
00:07:53.000 I don't get it, man.
00:07:54.000 I don't speak English, and then they just launch into a long speech in Spanish.
00:07:57.000 Cory Booker looking unimpressed at Beto's Spanish is one of the great moments.
00:08:01.000 I mean, this screencap is the meme.
00:08:04.000 Everybody looking at Beto like, what is going on?
00:08:08.000 But don't worry, as we will see, Cory Booker himself also awkwardly spoke Spanish.
00:08:13.000 So this became sort of the theme of the night.
00:08:15.000 I'm going to have to show you that real fast.
00:08:17.000 So here is Cory Booker also awkwardly speaking Spanish.
00:08:19.000 It turns out that the side eye that Booker was casting at Beto was just because he was mad that Beto spoke Spanish before he did.
00:08:26.000 In fact, both Booker and Beto spoke Spanish before Julián Castro, the actual Hispanic person in the race.
00:08:33.000 So here is Cory Booker speaking Spanish.
00:08:35.000 Both of them, by the way, I have been told my Spanish, as you can tell, is not good.
00:08:39.000 Both of them, I have been told, speak Spanish not particularly well.
00:08:43.000 So this got kind of awkward.
00:08:46.000 Senator Booker, what would you do on day one?
00:08:48.000 And this is a situation that the next president will inherit.
00:08:51.000 The situation is now unacceptable.
00:08:55.000 This president has attacked, has demonized immigrants.
00:09:00.000 It's unacceptable.
00:09:01.000 I'm going to change arrest.
00:09:02.000 On day one, I will make sure that number one, we end the ICE policies and the customs and border policies are violating the human rights.
00:09:11.000 OK, so again, speaking of the Spanish.
00:09:13.000 Now, the only person who was really disturbed by this, the most disturbed person was Elizabeth Warren.
00:09:17.000 She truly wanted to get in on the act because she is the least diverse person on the stage.
00:09:21.000 So the act that she wanted to get in on, she was, I promise you, you looked at her, she was five seconds away from trying to speak Cherokee.
00:09:28.000 She was so close to breaking out the Navajo wind talking.
00:09:32.000 It was like this far away.
00:09:35.000 OK, so so Beto starts the debate this way and then Beto gets clubbed by Bill de Blasio.
00:09:42.000 You know, getting clubbed by Frankenstein is it's it's got to be an unpleasant experience.
00:09:47.000 I mean, Bill de Blasio is eight foot three, a gawky, awkward, a serial groundhog murderer.
00:09:53.000 And Bill de Blasio is standing there slamming Beto.
00:09:55.000 Why is he slamming Beto?
00:09:57.000 What's the rip on Beto?
00:09:58.000 The rip on Beto is he's too moderate.
00:10:00.000 Why?
00:10:00.000 Because Beto didn't call for the total nationalization of health care and the banning of private health care plans.
00:10:05.000 No, no one last night attacked Elizabeth Warren.
00:10:07.000 The reason no one attacked Elizabeth Warren is because I think everybody sort of understood that if you attacked Warren, it was likely to backfire because the media love Warren right now.
00:10:16.000 She is their golden girl.
00:10:17.000 And they are going.
00:10:18.000 That's not a reference to her age.
00:10:20.000 They were then going to protect her.
00:10:23.000 There's this patina of freshness about Elizabeth Warren, despite the fact she's not a fresh politician.
00:10:28.000 And if anybody clocked her, it was going to backfire on them.
00:10:31.000 Instead, why not beat up on the guy that everybody's beating up on, who's still polling kind of low?
00:10:36.000 Let's all beat up on Beto.
00:10:39.000 And that was the theme of the night.
00:10:40.000 Basically, anybody who beat up on Beto benefited.
00:10:43.000 So here's Bill de Blasio slamming Beto for not calling for total nationalization of health care.
00:10:49.000 Would you replace private insurance?
00:10:51.000 No.
00:10:52.000 I think the choice is fundamental to our ability to get everybody cared for.
00:10:56.000 Private insurance is not working for tens of millions of Americans.
00:11:00.000 When you talk about the co-pays, the deductibles, the premiums, the out-of-pocket expenses, it's not working.
00:11:05.000 How can you defend a system that's not working?
00:11:07.000 So for those for whom it's not working, they can choose Medicare.
00:11:10.000 For the cautionary workers in Nevada who I listen to, who negotiated for those plans, they're able to keep them.
00:11:16.000 Why are you defending private insurance saying they like their private health insurance?
00:11:20.000 Okay, this is amazing.
00:11:21.000 So Bill de Blasio is clocking Beto.
00:11:23.000 Beto's exactly right here, by the way.
00:11:25.000 Beto is saying that a public option, meaning that people can opt into Medicare, which is still a bad idea, but he's saying that a public option is a better, more popular option than simply banning private health insurance, considering 177 million Americans are on private health insurance, and the vast majority of them are actually happy with the care they get from their private health insurers.
00:11:44.000 But, Beto is not sufficiently woke, and so begins the run to the left.
00:11:48.000 As we will see, this becomes a theme over the course of the debate.
00:11:50.000 Everyone running headlong to the left, right over that cliff, like Marxist lemmings.
00:11:55.000 Pretty spectacular.
00:11:56.000 We'll get to that in just a second.
00:11:57.000 First, this 4th of July, in addition to drinking pure liquid freedom, cause murica, The only thing Americans should be drinking is Black Rifle coffee.
00:12:05.000 Black Rifle coffee is awesome, okay?
00:12:07.000 I have Black Rifle coffee every single morning.
00:12:09.000 Not only do I have Black Rifle coffee, I love the dudes who run Black Rifle coffee.
00:12:13.000 They are awesome.

00:12:44.000 So no more of that leftist tripe being served to you in paper cups at stores that let people go to the bathroom without buying anything.
00:12:51.000 Instead, go to Black Rifle coffee.
00:12:54.000 The most American holiday calls for the most American coffee.

00:13:05.000 For 20% off your first purchase, that's BlackRifleCoffee.com slash Ben.
00:13:10.000 Okay, so the consensus was that Beto fell and fell hard last night.
00:13:15.000 Very, very bad night for Beto O'Rourke.
00:13:16.000 Now we move on to some of the other candidates.
00:13:17.000 before, but he became everybody's favorite punching bag.
00:13:20.000 When you are Bill de Blasio's punching bag, how far the mighty have fallen.
00:13:25.000 Somewhere, Jake Gyllenhaal weeps as he burns his Beto shirt.
00:13:29.000 All of Hollywood loved Beto until five seconds ago.
00:13:33.000 So very, very bad night for Beto O'Rourke.
00:13:36.000 Now we move on to some of the other candidates.
00:13:39.000 So Elizabeth Warren, how did her night go?
00:13:41.000 Well, she was the frontrunner coming into the night, and she really had to stand out.
00:13:46.000 The idea was that she should have dominated.
00:13:47.000 The expectations for her were high.
00:13:49.000 Now, she didn't lose the debate.
00:13:51.000 She didn't really get touched, but she didn't stand out from the rest of these dolts.
00:13:56.000 She just stood on stage and kind of said stuff and what she really did do.
00:14:00.000 There are a couple of ways in which she actually did damage herself, not in the primaries, but in the general.
00:14:04.000 Would she make the general?
00:14:06.000 These would all become attack ads and they'd become attack ads because Elizabeth Warren has made a big booboo.
00:14:11.000 She's made a big booboo.
00:14:12.000 Everybody in the Democratic Party has ceded the moderate lane to Joe Biden.
00:14:16.000 Everyone.
00:14:17.000 It's unbelievable.
00:14:20.000 40% of the Democratic Party still considers itself moderate to conservative.
00:14:24.000 And all of these other Dimwits, these numbskulls, are ceding that 40% to Joe Biden and clubbing each other over whether we should provide taxpayer-mandated abortions for animals, or whether we should provide illegal immigrants with not only healthcare, but subsidized New York lofts.
00:14:48.000 I mean, that's what the debate turned into.
00:14:49.000 And Elizabeth Warren was leading that charge.
00:14:51.000 OK, so Elizabeth Warren comes in and all she has to do is handle herself decently.
00:14:56.000 She did that.
00:14:57.000 She's not going to lose any points, but she certainly didn't gain any points last night.
00:15:00.000 She didn't win running away or anything like that.
00:15:03.000 And she did do herself some damage if Democrats ever get to a general election, if she ever gets to a general election.
00:15:08.000 So Elizabeth Warren, it starts off this way.
00:15:10.000 She's asked about whether she would ever have any limits on abortion.
00:15:13.000 There was unanimity across this stage that not a single Democrat would limit abortion under any circumstances.
00:15:21.000 18% of Americans agree with that proposal.
00:15:23.000 82% of Americans disagree with that proposal.
00:15:25.000 It was unanimous on stage because this party has run off the rails to the left, at least the leadership, not the people who vote for it.
00:15:32.000 The leadership has run off the rails to the left.
00:15:34.000 What she's about to say is wild.
00:15:36.000 Senator Warren, would you put limits on, any limits on abortion?
00:15:40.000 I would make certain that every woman has access to the full range of reproductive health care services, and that includes birth control, it includes abortion, it includes everything for a woman.
00:15:54.000 And I want to add on that.
00:15:56.000 It's not enough for us to expect the courts to protect us.
00:16:01.000 47 years ago, Roe vs. Wade was decided and we've all looked to the courts all that time as state after state has undermined Roe, has put in exceptions, has come right up to the edge of taking away protections.
00:16:15.000 Your time is up, Senator.
00:16:16.000 All she is a ball of nervous energy on that stage, calling for government intervention in every aspect of American life.
00:16:23.000 So the question was, would you put any limits on abortion?
00:16:25.000 And her answer was, not only would I not put limits, I would fund it and federally mandate that funding via the legislature, which is pretty incredible stuff.
00:16:32.000 She does.
00:16:33.000 So much of these debates is about the aesthetics of it.
00:16:35.000 And Elizabeth Warren basically is rabbit from Winnie the Pooh.
00:16:39.000 She just runs around worrying about everything and she has a plan for her garden.
00:16:43.000 And she's irritating.
00:16:44.000 I mean, I'm sorry.
00:16:45.000 I said it yesterday.
00:16:46.000 She's an irritating human being.
00:16:46.000 I will say it again.
00:16:48.000 Amy Klobuchar is not an irritating human being.
00:16:50.000 This is not about the sex of the person I'm speaking about.
00:16:53.000 Amy Klobuchar is not an irritating human being.
00:16:55.000 Tulsi Gabbard is not an irritating human being.
00:16:57.000 Both of them, last I checked, were women.
00:17:00.000 They self-identify that way.
00:17:01.000 So that's all that matters these days.
00:17:03.000 In any case, Elizabeth Warren, again, she's wearing well with the media class, but I'm not sure this stuff is going to wear well with the American public.
00:17:10.000 I mean, listen to her talk.
00:17:11.000 So they ask a question on stage.
00:17:13.000 How many of you would abolish private health insurance?
00:17:16.000 Understand, no one wants private health insurance abolished in the United States.
00:17:20.000 The number of people who want private health insurance abolished in the United States, it's in like the 20% range.
00:17:25.000 No one wants this, which is why when this question is asked, only two hands go up for abolishing private health insurance.
00:17:32.000 Bill de Blasio, an actual communist, and Elizabeth Warren, a wannabe communist who used to say that she was a capitalist and used to talk about the glories of the free market and how we make that free market work better.
00:17:42.000 That was her sort of pitch.
00:17:44.000 Well, now she's run all the way to the left.
00:17:46.000 Why?
00:17:46.000 Because she's trying to head off Bernie at the pass.
00:17:48.000 She feels like if she can cannibalize Bernie and then eat his desiccated old body, then she will take over Not his wing of the party.
00:17:55.000 Now, maybe that's a good strategy for a primary.
00:17:57.000 I don't know there are enough voters there.
00:17:59.000 But it's certainly not a good strategy for a general election.
00:18:02.000 You think this won't be an ad?
00:18:03.000 You think that Donald Trump won't be able to say, Elizabeth Warren wants you to lose your health insurance?
00:18:08.000 Because she does.
00:18:09.000 That's what she's saying right here.
00:18:11.000 177 million Americans, over 90% of Americans are happy with the health insurance that they currently have.
00:18:18.000 Or at least they have health insurance.
00:18:20.000 Well over 90% of Americans have health insurance.
00:18:22.000 And something like 70% of all Americans have privately provided health insurance.
00:18:26.000 Well, here is Elizabeth Warren raising her hand when asked if she would abolish private health insurance.
00:18:31.000 So everyone who's listening to this, you, me, all of us, we wouldn't have private health insurance.
00:18:36.000 We'd be forced into the Medicare system, which is already underfunded, overburdened, and would quickly run into the bankruptcy numbers extraordinarily fast.
00:18:45.000 I mean, it will be bankrupt by the end of the 2020s anyway.
00:18:48.000 So I guess we can accelerate that and make it bankrupt next year by throwing a bunch of people onto it without properly funding it.
00:18:53.000 And then I suppose we'll have to cram down on doctors who they can care for and who they can't.
00:18:57.000 That's the other half of this.
00:18:59.000 There are folks on the left who say, well, you know, doctors voluntarily take Medicare right now.
00:19:02.000 Right.
00:19:03.000 Because they can choose not to or they can choose to do so.
00:19:06.000 If Medicare is the only system, that means that Medicare is the sole bargaining entity with doctors.
00:19:12.000 And that means that the government can cram down basically whatever they want on doctors and then doctors will be forced to take it or they'll be forced to drop out of the doctoring business.
00:19:22.000 That's effectively what Elizabeth Warren is arguing for here.
00:19:25.000 She's not arguing for a public option.
00:19:27.000 She's not arguing that you should be able to buy government health insurance or use government health insurance as an alternative to the private market.
00:19:34.000 A proposition I think leads gradually and inevitably toward nationalized health care, but which is not nationalized health care.
00:19:39.000 She's arguing for the full abolition of private health care in the United States.
00:19:42.000 Good luck with this one in a general.
00:19:45.000 We're going to turn to the issue of health care right now and really try to understand whether there may or may not be daylight between you.
00:19:51.000 Many people watching at home have health insurance coverage through their employer.
00:19:55.000 Who here would abolish their private health insurance in favor of a government-run plan?
00:20:00.000 Just a show of hands to start off with.
00:20:04.000 OK, so no one else on stage would abolish their own private insurance to take a government plan.
00:20:09.000 Bill de Blasio would, because that dude is happy to mooch off the government all the time.
00:20:12.000 Elizabeth Warren is a cynical lady.
00:20:14.000 And so what she is doing there is trying to head off Bernie at the past.
00:20:17.000 In fact, during the debate, she suggested that she, like Bernie, is for Medicare for all.
00:20:21.000 It was a pretty obvious appeal.
00:20:23.000 And that wasn't the extent of Warren's extremism on the stage.
00:20:27.000 This is a lady who is solely concerned with knocking Bernie out early and then pivoting to the middle.
00:20:31.000 But there's one problem.
00:20:32.000 There's a thing and it's called video and it exists now.
00:20:35.000 30 years ago, you could do this routine where you basically lied to the American people in either the primaries or the general.
00:20:41.000 You ran to the extreme and then you shifted to the middle for the general election.
00:20:45.000 But in today's day and age, what you say in the primaries matters.
00:20:48.000 Most of the quotes that people have from President Trump occurred during the primaries.
00:20:53.000 The primaries outlive the primaries.
00:20:55.000 They didn't used to, but they do now.
00:20:56.000 So when Warren is asked about gun confiscation, and she basically signals that, yeah, she might be interested in having the government come into your house and take guns.
00:21:03.000 Is this going to play in a general?
00:21:04.000 I have some serious doubts.
00:21:06.000 You think the federal government needs to go and figure out a way to get the guns that are already out there?
00:21:11.000 What I think we need to do is we need to treat it like a serious research problem, which we have not done.
00:21:17.000 You know, guns in the hands of a collector who's had them for decades, who's never fired, who takes safety seriously, that's very different.
00:21:28.000 From guns that are sold and turned over quickly.
00:21:31.000 We can't treat this as an across-the-board problem.
00:21:34.000 We have to treat it like a public health emergency.
00:21:38.000 That means bring data to bear and it means making real change in this country, whether it's politically popular or not.
00:21:46.000 OK, so again, she avoids the question because the actual answer is yes, I would try to confiscate guns.
00:21:51.000 She could just answer it.
00:21:52.000 But even Elizabeth Warren understands that she can't say that one out loud.
00:21:56.000 Well, in a second, we'll get to the rest of the Democratic candidates.
00:21:59.000 And also, I have a question.
00:22:00.000 I have a question.
00:22:01.000 There were two terms that did not come up on stage last night, nearly at all.
00:22:04.000 And it's pretty incredible.
00:22:05.000 And it shows where the Democratic Party is.
00:22:07.000 First, I'm on the internet basically 24 hours a day.
00:22:10.000 I'm sleeping, I'm still on the internet.
00:22:12.000 I'm concerned about hackers stealing my data, because you should be too, and that's why I trust ExpressVPN to protect my online activity.
00:22:18.000 You should too.
00:22:19.000 Hackers, government, internet companies, basically everyone, they're all looking for your data, they're looking to gobble it up.
00:22:24.000 ExpressVPN runs in the background of your computer or phone, and then you just use the internet the way you normally would.
00:22:29.000 You download the app, you click to connect, voila, you are now protected by their powerful encryption technology.
00:22:35.000 I never go online without ExpressVPN.
00:22:36.000 You shouldn't either.

00:23:12.000 Three months free with a one-year package.
00:23:14.000 Okay, so.
00:23:15.000 There are two terms that did not come up last night.
00:23:18.000 Then we'll get to the rest of these candidates.
00:23:19.000 There are two terms that did not come up last night.
00:23:22.000 Obama and Trump.
00:23:23.000 And that's kind of shocking.
00:23:25.000 Obama didn't come up because the Democratic Party has left him behind.
00:23:28.000 This is the biggest problem for Joe Biden, is that Joe Biden tonight will be on stage trying to defend Barack Obama's record.
00:23:36.000 And he has a record to defend.
00:23:38.000 And that record isn't great.
00:23:40.000 People don't like Obamacare.
00:23:41.000 Obamacare has been unworkable.
00:23:43.000 People don't like Obama's foreign policy particularly much.
00:23:45.000 That was unworkable.
00:23:47.000 Joe Biden will have to defend that.
00:23:48.000 There's a reason none of the Democrats were out there paying homage to Barack Obama.
00:23:52.000 That's because his presidency was not very good.
00:23:55.000 He did not do a lot of good things for people.
00:23:57.000 And so people have sort of been ignoring the fact that Obama was president for eight years.
00:24:02.000 More oddly, the other term that did not come up a lot last night was Trump.
00:24:06.000 And that's really interesting, because I think that I assume that the calculus for these Democrats is that they all thought that the other Democrats were going to attack Trump.
00:24:15.000 And so they were going to distinguish themselves by talking about policy.
00:24:18.000 But instead, there was sort of a prisoner's dilemma, and they all ended up talking about their crazy, insane, out-of-the-box policy instead of talking about the one thing that unifies their party and unifies a lot of Americans, hatred for President Trump.
00:24:30.000 Trump's name was mentioned only 20 times in two hours.
00:24:33.000 Which is a very, very low number for an incumbent president running against a field of millions.
00:24:39.000 That's kind of astonishing.
00:24:40.000 The other reason they're not attacking Trump, of course, is that his actual record is pretty good.
00:24:44.000 This debate started with a bunch of Democrats proclaiming to the skies that the economy is actually bad.
00:24:50.000 Now, no one actually believes that.
00:24:52.000 No one actually believes that the that the economy is bad in this in this It just isn't.
00:24:58.000 The economy is very strong.
00:25:00.000 Elizabeth Warren was complaining that only people at the top were making money off this economy.
00:25:03.000 That is absolutely untrue.
00:25:05.000 We've seen wage increases faster than they have done for years.
00:25:09.000 We've seen the unemployment rate at record lows.
00:25:11.000 We've seen black unemployment at record lows.
00:25:13.000 Hispanic unemployment at record lows.
00:25:15.000 We've seen real economic growth under this president.
00:25:18.000 Like him or hate him, that is a fact.
00:25:20.000 And the Democrats somehow have to avoid that.
00:25:22.000 And I guess they didn't want to discuss Trump, because if they did, it might remind people that Trump is still out there.
00:25:28.000 And then there's the final problem with discussing Trump.
00:25:30.000 And that is that all of these Democrats next to each other, they look like Lilliputians.
00:25:34.000 Donald Trump is an outsized personality.
00:25:37.000 He is.
00:25:37.000 There's a tendency for people who are president to make themselves feel indispensable in daily life, feel like they occupy the vacuum.
00:25:45.000 They're just there all the time.
00:25:46.000 Barack Obama did this.
00:25:47.000 He was very effective at doing this.
00:25:48.000 He made it so it was almost impossible to think of government or the presidency without thinking of Obama.
00:25:54.000 Trump has done the same thing, except even more so, because he has dominated media coverage so thoroughly.
00:25:59.000 So when you think of any of those Democrats standing up against President Trump, Trump looks 10 feet tall, and these Democrats look like Lilliputians.
00:26:07.000 Maybe that's because they're still in the primaries.
00:26:09.000 Maybe they emerge.
00:26:10.000 But the only major figure in the Democratic Party right now is Joe Biden.
00:26:14.000 All these other people are minor players.
00:26:16.000 And you can see that last night as they haggled over which groups to pander to.
00:26:22.000 So Cory Booker, Mr. Potato Head.
00:26:24.000 He went out there.
00:26:25.000 He took out his angry eyes.
00:26:26.000 He slapped him on.
00:26:27.000 And then he started talking about the various groups that have been left behind.
00:26:30.000 Now, again, it's amazing.
00:26:31.000 The Democratic Party requires a bunch of blue collar white people to vote for it if they want to win the presidency in 2020.
00:26:38.000 But the groups that they keep talking to are the smallest minority groups that they can find.
00:26:44.000 So they just keep breaking Americans down into these smaller and smaller identity groups and then overtly appealing to them, maybe to look sympathetic, I guess, or maybe because they really believe they can outwoke everybody else on the stage.
00:26:57.000 So Cory Booker tried to outwoke everybody by saying, you know who we don't appeal to?
00:27:00.000 Black people, which of course is utterly untrue.
00:27:03.000 The Democratic Party is severely concerned and supremely concerned with the interests of its black electorate.
00:27:09.000 Which is why Cory Booker's on the stage.
00:27:11.000 Because Cory Booker is not a good candidate.
00:27:13.000 But, presumably, his entire pitch is to the black community, don't vote for that old white guy who used to hang out with segregationists.
00:27:20.000 I mean, that's what he said last week.
00:27:21.000 Vote instead for me.
00:27:22.000 Well, Cory Booker then went even further and he said, you know what we really have not spent enough time on?
00:27:27.000 Black trans people.
00:27:30.000 So eventually he's going to find the person who he feels we really have not spent enough time on.
00:27:33.000 The black, lesbian, trans, little person who is half Native American and also a quarter Korean.
00:27:42.000 That will be Cory Booker's constituent.
00:27:45.000 But the strategy that says ignore the vast bulk of the American electorate to focus on small segments of the electorate and suggest that those small segments of the electorate are being ignored if you cobble enough of them together, you have a coalition.
00:27:56.000 Good luck with that, Cory Booker.
00:27:59.000 Civil rights is some place to begin, but in the African-American civil rights community, another place to focus on was to stop the lynching of African-Americans.
00:28:07.000 We do not talk enough about trans-Americans, especially African-American trans-Americans, and the incredibly high rates of murder right now.
00:28:16.000 We don't talk enough about how many children, about 30% of LGBTQ kids, who do not go to school because of fear.
00:28:23.000 It's not enough just to be on the Equality Act.
00:28:25.000 I'm an original co-sponsor.
00:28:27.000 We need to have a president that will fight to protect LGBTQ Americans every single day from violence.
00:28:34.000 Thank you, Senator.
00:28:35.000 That's definitely going to win him back, Ohio, right there.
00:28:37.000 That right there is definitely going to win him back, Ohio.
00:28:39.000 OK, by the way, I will just point out that there is a factual error in what he says.
00:28:42.000 He talks about the murder rates against transgender Americans.
00:28:45.000 Andy Ngo, who has done a lot of research on this, he points out that there were 26 murders of transgender people last year.
00:28:51.000 The vast bulk of them had to do with, were actually not, were actually Black transgender people who are killed by other members of minority groups.
00:29:01.000 There's a serious sexual violence problem against people who are engaged in the sex industry.
00:29:06.000 In other words, prostitution.
00:29:07.000 There are a lot of cross-cutting issues here.
00:29:09.000 And Cory Booker just makes it into America's racist, America's terrible, America hates gay people.
00:29:13.000 It's absolute nonsense, but I guess this is the pitch.
00:29:16.000 And he wasn't, but this was his breakout moment, right?
00:29:19.000 I mean, he was outwoking people.
00:29:21.000 The general consensus wisdom is that Cory Booker did well last night.
00:29:25.000 The other candidate who consensus wisdom suggested did well last night was Julián Castro.
00:29:29.000 Why?
00:29:30.000 Because he also tried to outwoke everybody.
00:29:32.000 How woke is Julián Castro?
00:29:34.000 Julián Castro is so woke that he believes that federally funded abortions should be available not just for women for the entirety of their pregnancy, but also for men.
00:29:44.000 Seriously, he said this last night.
00:29:46.000 He said that biological men should have a taxpayer-funded right to abortion.
00:29:50.000 Which is gonna be weird.
00:29:52.000 I mean, I gotta admit, that's gonna be weird.
00:29:53.000 Giving an ultrasound to a man's prostate looking for a baby is going to be a weird thing.
00:29:58.000 Deciding how to perform an abortion through a man's urethra is gonna be very odd.
00:30:02.000 But hey, if anybody can make this happen, Julian Castro can.
00:30:05.000 Here he was last night explaining that biological men require abortion too.
00:30:10.000 Would your plan cover abortion, Mr. Secretary?
00:30:14.000 Yes, it would.
00:30:15.000 I don't believe only in reproductive freedom.
00:30:18.000 I believe in reproductive justice.
00:30:22.000 And what that means is that just because a woman, or let's also not forget someone in the trans community, a trans female, If poor, it doesn't mean they shouldn't have the right to exercise that right to choose.
00:30:37.000 And so I absolutely would.
00:30:39.000 I'm just going to point out, a trans female is a biological male.
00:30:43.000 So, to screw up, I'm sure he meant a trans male, meaning a female, a biological female who believes that she is a male.
00:30:49.000 But, he said a trans female, so presumably he also wants to make sure that a male, that Caitlyn Jenner can have the abortion that Caitlyn Jenner so desperately needs.
00:31:01.000 This Democratic Party, I'm going to say, I think they may be slightly out of touch with mainstream America.
00:31:06.000 Just a little bit.
00:31:07.000 Just a little bit.
00:31:08.000 And it infected the entire party last night.
00:31:10.000 It was pretty amazing.
00:31:11.000 We'll get to more of that in just one second.
00:31:13.000 First, I'm too busy to go to the post office.
00:31:15.000 I'll be honest with you.
00:31:16.000 The last time I went to the post office, I got a giant parking ticket.
00:31:19.000 Because there's only one thing that LA authorities are good at, and that is giving parking tickets.
00:31:23.000 Cleaning up the homeless problem?
00:31:24.000 Policing crime?
00:31:25.000 Nope.
00:31:25.000 Parking tickets?
00:31:26.000 Boom.
00:31:26.000 Right on it.
00:31:27.000 So this is why I've decided no more of the post office.
00:31:30.000 Instead, I'm going to go to stamps.com.

00:33:03.000 Go over to dailywire.com, make it happen.
00:33:05.000 It's pretty great.
00:33:06.000 We are the largest, fastest-growing conservative podcast and radio show in the nation.
00:33:09.000 So the woke-fest continued with Bill de Blasio, the mayor of New York, then declaring that while Cory Booker may be a black man, and while Julian Castro then declaring that while Cory Booker may be a black man, and while Julian Castro may be calling for abortions for biological men, he is the And that means that he is woke in and of himself.
00:33:35.000 Go for it, Bill de Blasio.
00:33:37.000 I run the largest police force in America, too, and if we're going to stop these shootings, if we're going to get these guns off the street, we have to have a very different relationship between our police and our community.
00:33:45.000 I also want to say there's something that sets me apart from all my colleagues running in this race, and that is for the last 21 years, I've been raising a black son in America.
00:33:55.000 And I have had to have very, very serious talks with my son, Dante, about how to protect himself on the streets of our city and all over this country, including how to deal with the fact that he has to take special caution because there have been too many tragedies between our young men and our police, too.
00:34:10.000 OK, so he's trying to outwoke everybody by saying, sure, I'm a giant white guy, but I have a biracial son.
00:34:15.000 And that means that I'm I'm even more victimized in America than Cory Booker, who's a black person on the stage.
00:34:21.000 So it's just it was a woke fest last night.
00:34:24.000 Maybe this works in a primary.
00:34:26.000 It's a theory.
00:34:27.000 Maybe it works in the Twitter primary.
00:34:29.000 Consensus seemed to be that de Blasio did okay, that Castro had a big breakout because he wants men to have abortions, that Cory Booker did great yesterday for some reason.
00:34:38.000 I guess.
00:34:39.000 Basically, everybody who's most woke did best.
00:34:42.000 Amy Klobuchar tried to get into the act.
00:34:44.000 Amy Klobuchar, who's supposed to be the moderate, who's going to rival Joe Biden.
00:34:48.000 She was the most interesting candidate in the field before she announced.
00:34:50.000 Then she decided, I'm going to slide on over to the left.
00:34:53.000 So she was asked about decriminalizing illegal immigration.
00:34:55.000 So there's a big controversy that is now broken out about the about so-called Section 1325.
00:35:00.000 Julián Castro attacked Brutally, Beto O'Rourke, suggesting that Beto O'Rourke was not, in fact, woke enough on illegal immigration that, in fact, Section 1325, which criminalizes illegal immigration, you cross the border, that's now considered a criminal misdemeanor if you do so between ports of entry.
00:35:17.000 You show up at a port of entry, you apply for asylum, that's totally legal.
00:35:19.000 You try to cross the Rio Grande River, That is a misdemeanor.
00:35:22.000 The reason that that's a misdemeanor is because we are trying to drive people toward the ports of entry, because if they don't go to the ports of entry, you know what happens sometimes?
00:35:29.000 They die.
00:35:29.000 It's a lot more dangerous to go over the Rio Grande than it is to walk to a port of entry.
00:35:34.000 Naturally, the Democrats want to get rid of that provision of U.S.
00:35:37.000 law and make it so that it's only like a civil fine if you cross the Rio Grande illegally.
00:35:42.000 I suppose they think that won't incentivize people to cross illegally between ports of entry?
00:35:46.000 What do they think that's going to do?
00:35:48.000 Amy Klobuchar, who should know better, says that she would consider decriminalizing illegal immigration.
00:35:53.000 Let's talk about what Secretary Castro just said.
00:35:56.000 He wants to no longer have it be a crime to illegally cross the border.
00:36:01.000 Do you support that?
00:36:02.000 Do you think it should be a civil offense only?
00:36:04.000 And if so, do you worry about potentially incentivizing people to come here?
00:36:11.000 Immigrants, they do not diminish America, they are America.
00:36:16.000 And I am happy to look at his proposal, but I do think you want to make sure that you have provisions in place that allow you to go after traffickers and allow you to go after people who are violating the law.
00:36:29.000 OK, so there she is being somewhat moderate and just getting thrown out of the building, basically.
00:36:34.000 She also pointed out this is going to be, again, an attack ad by Trump against the other Democrats.
00:36:38.000 Here's Amy Klobuchar, Democratic senator, suggesting to Elizabeth Warren and Bill de Blasio, guys, kicking half of Americans off their health care.
00:36:44.000 Maybe that's a bad idea.
00:36:46.000 Maybe that's a bad pitch in a general election.
00:36:49.000 You're one of the Democrats who wants to keep private insurance in addition to a government health care plan.
00:36:54.000 Why is an incremental approach, in your view, better than a sweeping overhaul?
00:36:59.000 Well, I think it's a bold approach.
00:37:00.000 It's something that Barack Obama wanted to do when we were working on the Affordable Care Act, and that is a public option.
00:37:07.000 I am just simply concerned about kicking half of America off of their health insurance in four years, which is exactly what this bill says.
00:37:17.000 OK, so I mean, that is going to be an attack ad.
00:37:20.000 I mean, you have a Democratic senator openly acknowledging that they're talking about kicking 177 million people off of their health insurance.
00:37:28.000 She didn't win any points for that.
00:37:29.000 You know who else didn't win any points last night?
00:37:30.000 Tim Ryan, the congressperson from Ohio.
00:37:33.000 He's also slightly trying to edge into the moderate lane, but doing himself no favors.
00:37:37.000 Here is Tim Ryan explaining that Democrats are out of touch with common people.
00:37:41.000 After which Julian Castro and Cory Booker decided to fight over their black, trans, disabled, little person constituent.
00:37:51.000 We have a perception problem with the Democratic Party.
00:37:56.000 We are not connecting to the working class people in the very states that I represent, in Ohio, in the industrial Midwest.
00:38:04.000 We've lost all connection.
00:38:06.000 We have got to change the center of gravity of the Democratic Party from being coastal and elitist and Ivy League, which is the perception, to somebody from the forgotten communities that have been left behind for the last 30 years to get those workers back on our side.
00:38:25.000 If we don't address that fundamental problem with our connection to workers, white, black, brown, gay, straight, working class people, none of this is going to get done, Chuck.
00:38:34.000 OK, and that is the only pitch that matters, and that's the one that they are all going to ignore.
00:38:39.000 Now, the other big exchange of the debate that was getting all sorts of attention was an exchange between Tim Ryan and Tulsi Gabbard.
00:38:45.000 So Tulsi Gabbard, who is a congressperson from Hawaii, And also Assad's favorite senator.
00:38:53.000 Bashar Assad has a very warm relationship with Tulsi Gabbard.
00:38:56.000 She is not just an isolationist on foreign policy and a refugee from the X-Men, apparently.
00:39:01.000 She's got this amazingly awesome shock of gray hair in the middle of a completely black haircut.
00:39:07.000 It's pretty great, actually.
00:39:09.000 She and Tim Ryan went at it.
00:39:11.000 And Tulsi Gabbard, I mean, the fact that this stuff gets cheered on national debate stages is pretty astonishing.
00:39:18.000 Tim Ryan points out that the war in Afghanistan was justified because of 9-11, at which point Tulsi Gabbard says, what did the Taliban ever do to us?
00:39:25.000 And she gets cheered.
00:39:27.000 The reality of it is if the United States isn't engaged, the Taliban will grow and they will have bigger, bolder terrorist acts.
00:39:37.000 We have got to have some presence there.
00:39:40.000 The Taliban was there long before we came in.
00:39:42.000 They were there long before we left.
00:39:45.000 We cannot keep U.S.
00:39:46.000 troops deploying to Afghanistan thinking that we're going to somehow squash this Taliban.
00:39:52.000 I didn't say squash them.
00:39:52.000 I didn't say squash them.
00:39:55.000 When we weren't in there, they started flying planes into our buildings.
00:39:59.000 So I'm just saying right now... The Taliban didn't attack us on 9-11.
00:40:03.000 Al-Qaeda did.
00:40:04.000 Al-Qaeda attacked us on 9-11.
00:40:07.000 That's why I and so many other people joined the military, to go after Al-Qaeda, not the Taliban.
00:40:13.000 That's why we joined, to go after Al-Qaeda, not the Taliban?
00:40:16.000 Like, the Taliban was protecting Al-Qaeda.
00:40:20.000 That was the whole premise of the war in Afghanistan.
00:40:23.000 George W. Bush offered the Taliban the opportunity to turn over Osama Bin Laden and to allow us to go after Al Qaeda.
00:40:29.000 They refused, and so we wrecked them.
00:40:31.000 So again, the fact that that was cheered and that Tim Ryan is cast out, good luck with this Democratic Party, guys.
00:40:36.000 The truth is that the best metaphor for all of this was the mic breakdown that happened in the middle of the debate.
00:40:42.000 So in the middle of the debate, NBC really blew it.
00:40:45.000 Some sound guy is about to get fired today because in the middle of this debate, The backstage audio could start being heard.
00:40:53.000 And honestly, I was kind of gritting my teeth because as somebody who works in this industry and has a microphone on me a lot of times, I'm always counting on the audio guy not to have the mic on when I don't want it on so that people don't hear me going to the bathroom, for example.
00:41:06.000 Well, basically, that's what happened on NBC News last night.
00:41:09.000 Should there be a roll for the federal government?
00:41:12.000 Everybody's mics are on.
00:41:14.000 I think we have a... I heard that too.
00:41:16.000 That's okay.
00:41:17.000 I think we had a little mic issue in the back.
00:41:19.000 We've got the audience audience.
00:41:23.000 Someone's got my binder.
00:41:25.000 We are.
00:41:29.000 We are hearing our colleagues audio.
00:41:29.000 What's happening?
00:41:31.000 You know, we prepared for everything.
00:41:34.000 Guess what guys?
00:41:36.000 We are going to take a quick break.
00:41:38.000 We're going to get this technical situation fixed.
00:41:41.000 We will be right back.
00:41:43.000 Very, very awkward.
00:41:43.000 Donald Trump tweeted out about it.
00:41:45.000 This really makes Donald Trump mad.
00:41:47.000 The production quality.
00:41:49.000 You gotta love the fact that Trump, because he was a TV star, all he cared about last night was the production quality.
00:41:53.000 He tweeted out, NBC News and MSNBC should be ashamed of themselves for having such a horrible technical breakdown in the middle of the debate.
00:42:01.000 Truly unprofessional and only worthy of a fake news organization, which they are.
00:42:07.000 They screw up the mics and he's like, that wasn't even his best tweet.
00:42:12.000 His best tweet last night was about half an hour into the debate and he just tweeted out one word, all caps, BOOING.
00:42:19.000 Fact check true.
00:42:20.000 Fact check true, Mr. President.
00:42:22.000 The Trump campaign then released a statement saying that the debate was the best argument for President Trump's re-election.
00:42:28.000 That is 100% true.
00:42:30.000 Campaign spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany said quote this debate was the best argument for President Trump's reelection and should really be counted as an in-kind contribution to the president's campaign.
00:42:38.000 The Democrats proposed a radical government takeover of the American society that would demolish the American dream so many are gaining access to under the growing Trump economy.
00:42:47.000 The far-left socialist policies Democrats embraced tonight were akin to a mutual political suicide pact.
00:42:51.000 They want to throw 200 million people off their current private health care plans, put them into a government-run system that would eliminate choice, and crush innocent Americans with an enormous tax burden to pay for it.
00:43:00.000 These Democrat policies, which feature government control over virtually every aspect of Americans' lives, bear striking resemblances to those from authoritarian regimes like Cuba and Venezuela.
00:43:09.000 Perhaps it's fitting Democrats held their first debate in Miami, Florida, where so many Latinos have fled the ravages of socialism and understand its devastating effects on society in a real and personal way.
00:43:19.000 Okay, this is true.
00:43:20.000 I mean, if you watched that debate last night, And you are anywhere close to the middle of the American spectrum.
00:43:24.000 I can't imagine this won you over.
00:43:26.000 Now, that's not the goal of these primary debates, presumably.
00:43:28.000 The goal is to appeal to the far left.
00:43:31.000 But, but that far left may not be that big.
00:43:33.000 And Joe Biden thinks that, right?
00:43:34.000 So Team Joe tweeted out last night in the middle of the debate.
00:43:37.000 Let's be clear.
00:43:38.000 We shouldn't tear the Affordable Care Act down.
00:43:40.000 We should build on it.
00:43:41.000 The Biden administration will give every American the right to choose a public option like Medicare to ensure everyone has access to the quality, affordable health care they deserve.
00:43:49.000 Hashtag Dem Debate.
00:43:51.000 And so that is Biden militating against Elizabeth Warren, going directly at her and at Bernie Sanders.
00:43:57.000 So Biden knows which lane he is in, apparently, and he is staying in that lane.
00:44:00.000 And that is smart.
00:44:00.000 Terry McAuliffe, the former Virginia governor, he said, listen, these Democrats are out of touch.
00:44:04.000 He is correct.
00:44:05.000 They are out of touch.
00:44:07.000 I'm a little disappointed.
00:44:08.000 I think we needed to have more discussion on those issues that actually affect Americans every single day.
00:44:14.000 They didn't want to hear us talking about Mitch McConnell.
00:44:16.000 We spent a lot of time on Medicare fraud, but people sitting home, Anderson, right now, they're worried about their prescription drug costs.
00:44:22.000 They're worried about getting in a car and driving and spending an hour and a half to go see their kids play a ballgame.
00:44:27.000 We needed more discussion on those issues that affect, I thought John Delaney was exactly right when he answered that, infrastructure.
00:44:34.000 You know, prescription drugs.
00:44:35.000 I didn't hear workforce training at all tonight.
00:44:38.000 One of the biggest issues our country is facing.
00:44:39.000 I never heard.
00:44:40.000 This ain't the primary for people living in the middle of the country.
00:44:43.000 This is the primary for AOC.
00:44:44.000 And here was AOC's take on this thing.
00:44:46.000 She says, you know what the big problem was?
00:44:48.000 That they didn't talk climate change enough.
00:44:49.000 That was the big problem.
00:44:51.000 I don't think that we are discussing climate change the way we need to be discussing.
00:45:03.000 It is such a huge, broad, systemic issue.
00:45:08.000 And you can't just say, is Miami going to exist in 50 years?
00:45:13.000 We need to say, what are you going to do about this?
00:45:15.000 And I know there's a lot of folks, a lot of young people that have been mobilizing for an entire climate debate in the Democratic caucus.
00:45:23.000 I think it's a good idea.
00:45:24.000 OK, they're competing for AOC's vote.
00:45:26.000 They're not competing for the guy in Ohio or Wisconsin or Pennsylvania.
00:45:30.000 With God's help, this is Donald Trump's prayer, with God's help, the Democrats will continue to run down this path, because good luck, gang.
00:45:38.000 Good luck.
00:45:39.000 Okay, time for some things I like, and then we'll get to some things that I hate.
00:45:42.000 So, things that I like today.
00:45:44.000 I mentioned yesterday that this is basically the Dumbo clown car, and that the only question is going to be, which Democrat jumps from that top platform down into the bucket of water?
00:45:52.000 And that means it's time for me to recommend Dumbo.
00:45:54.000 Dumbo's a great movie, the original Dumbo.
00:45:55.000 So here's a little bit of the original Dumbo trailer.
00:45:57.000 The circus.
00:45:59.000 Certainly more entertaining in that film than it was last night.
00:46:02.000 Dumbo, the little elephant who was all ears.
00:46:05.000 The circus used to be charming.
00:46:19.000 Now it's just a bunch of people competing over fringe votes.
00:46:22.000 So that's very exciting stuff.
00:46:25.000 So go watch the movie.
00:46:26.000 The movie's fun.
00:46:27.000 Don't watch the remake.
00:46:28.000 The remake is apparently pretty bad.
00:46:30.000 But the original movie is still a great movie.
00:46:32.000 My kids still love it because original Disney is best Disney.
00:46:35.000 Original Disney is really, really good stuff.
00:46:37.000 Okay, other things that I like.
00:46:39.000 You ready for this?
00:46:39.000 You're never gonna believe this.
00:46:41.000 Andrew Cuomo said a smart thing.
00:46:42.000 I think it's a wholly inappropriate comparison.
00:46:44.000 Cuomo was asked specifically about Alexander Ocasio-Cortez comparing the situation on America's southern border to Nazi concentration camps.
00:46:51.000 And Andrew Cuomo elevated himself for a moment above his brother Chris as the lesser of the less stupid of the Cuomo brothers.
00:46:58.000 Here is Andrew Cuomo, the governor of New York, ripping into AOC.
00:47:02.000 I think it's a wholly inappropriate comparison.
00:47:06.000 The Holocaust, you're talking about a tragedy of biblical proportion and one of the greatest scourges in history.
00:47:18.000 Six million Jews died during the Holocaust.
00:47:26.000 There is no comparison to the Holocaust.
00:47:31.000 Okay, so, good for Andrew Cuomo, finally saying something not dumb.
00:47:35.000 Congratulations, sir.
00:47:36.000 It happens once every couple of years, maybe?
00:47:39.000 Good on you.
00:47:39.000 Okay, other things that I like.
00:47:41.000 So, again, this is the day for me praising people who I will never praise again.
00:47:45.000 Stephen Colbert went after Beto and Booker.
00:47:47.000 And he has to, because he's an Elizabeth Warren junkie.
00:47:50.000 So here he was yesterday, last night, going after Beto O'Rourke and Cory Booker for speaking Spanish and making fools of themselves.
00:47:57.000 I'll give you 10 seconds to answer.
00:47:58.000 If you want to answer the direct question, would you support a 70% individual marginal tax rate?
00:48:03.000 Yes, no, or pass?
00:48:05.000 Um... Noah Blenglis?
00:48:12.000 And when the topic turned to the border crisis, Booker took Beto's Spanish and raised him mucho mas.
00:48:19.000 Oh snap!
00:48:20.000 It is, it is on!
00:48:21.000 This is unacceptable.
00:48:21.000 It is on!
00:48:22.000 I'm going to change the rest.
00:48:24.000 Oh, snap!
00:48:25.000 It is on.
00:48:30.000 It is an Espanol off.
00:48:34.000 Okay, so, yeah, it was obvious that even the Democrats were pretty disappointed in the performance of their candidates last night.
00:48:41.000 Now, tonight is the big one.
00:48:42.000 Tonight, it's Bernie versus Biden.
00:48:44.000 Old man.
00:48:46.000 Club off, basically.
00:48:48.000 It's like that movie where, what was it, Sylvester Stallone fought Robert De Niro?
00:48:53.000 It's like that one.
00:48:55.000 So it's old people fighting each other tonight.
00:48:57.000 Very much looking forward to that.
00:48:58.000 Pete Buttigieg standing off to the side crying about South Bend and all this.
00:49:02.000 It should be more of a party tonight.
00:49:03.000 Bernie Sanders, by the way, has to be feeling good about himself.
00:49:06.000 Because Elizabeth Warren did not distinguish herself from the pack last night.
00:49:09.000 Elizabeth Warren did not have a breakout night.
00:49:11.000 And that means it's time for Bernie!
00:49:12.000 We're gonna come in, we're gonna clean up like with the USSR in Ukraine in 1932.
00:49:16.000 We're gonna clean it up!
00:49:19.000 Pretty dark humor there.
00:49:20.000 So there's Bernie, who he's saying, he said last night, watch tonight because tonight's the progressive, the progressives' turn.
00:49:27.000 Elizabeth Warren's like, I've always been progressive.
00:49:29.000 He's like, you have not.
00:49:30.000 I was here in 1822.
00:49:32.000 You were not there being progressive.
00:49:35.000 I knew Karl Marx, and madam, you are no Karl Marx.
00:49:38.000 So here is Bernie Sanders talking about Medicare for all, which is, of course, his pitch, and he's taking it back from Elizabeth Warren.
00:49:44.000 The major issue is, do we believe that healthcare is a human right?
00:49:49.000 We're not.
00:49:50.000 Some people do, some people don't.
00:49:51.000 I do.
00:49:52.000 So I think whether you are poor or working class or rich, you are entitled to all the healthcare that you need because you're an American.
00:49:59.000 That's what I believe.
00:50:01.000 This is a dysfunctional system.
00:50:03.000 Our health care outcomes are not as good as people in other countries.
00:50:06.000 We have got to have a health care system not to make the insurance companies rich, not to make the drug companies rich, but to guarantee health care to all people in a cost-effective way.
00:50:16.000 That's Medicare for All.
00:50:17.000 So, if you liked tonight, last night, you will love tonight, when you get the best, the cream of the crop, the frontrunners in the Democratic Party.
00:50:26.000 I'm so excited.
00:50:27.000 You know what?
00:50:27.000 We're going to have to go to break.
00:50:29.000 I guess I'll see you here later for two more hours of coverage or I'll see you here tomorrow.
00:50:32.000 We'll recap the whole thing for you.

00:51:04.000 Hola, mamacitas.
00:51:06.000 The first Democratic presidential primary debate was last night, and everyone started speaking Spanish.
00:51:11.000 We will examine why los Democrats son muy estúpidos.
00:51:16.000 Then, my pal Jamil Jivani stops by to explain why young men get radicalized.
00:51:22.000 Finally, the mailbag.
