Ben Shapiro talks about the Democratic response to the Black Lives Matter protests in the streets of cities across the country, and why they ve been softpedaled by their own party, and how it s part of a larger strategy to delegitimize Donald Trump s presidential bid. 00:01:38.000Alrighty, so we'll get to the Republican National Convention last night, but let's just be clear about this.
00:01:44.000The people who are currently making the case for President Trump to be president are not Republicans.
00:01:48.000They are all of the rioters and the looters and the violent jackasses in the streets harassing normal people who are not bothering anybody, who are attempting to do violence, who are being terrible human beings.
00:01:59.000It is also the politicians on the Democrat side of the aisle who have decided to soft pedal all of this, who have decided that they are going to look over it.
00:02:05.000They're just going to say, you know, we understand their motivation.
00:02:16.000America really is a terrible, no good, very bad place.
00:02:19.000The Democrats who are willing to overlook simple fact patterns in particular cases in order to draw a broad, overarching narrative about how America is systemically terrible.
00:02:29.000This is what is driving Trump's re-elect prospects at this point in time.
00:02:33.000All the Democrats had to do, and I've been saying this since the day that Trump was elected, all they had to do was not be crazy.
00:02:46.000in order to not nominate the octogenarian communists.
00:02:49.000And it turns out that Joe Biden is too weak to stand up to his own base.
00:02:53.000He is too weak to stand up to the radicalism inherent in his own party.
00:02:56.000And the fact is that even the administration he last served under was rather radical on a lot of these matters.
00:03:00.000Remember, there were cities that burned during the last Democratic administration.
00:03:03.000Ferguson burned while Barack Obama stood there and said that people don't make up things like what happened with Michael Brown, except that everything that was said about Michael Brown was in fact made up by witnesses who lied about it at the time.
00:03:16.000Baltimore burned while Barack Obama was president of the United States.
00:03:20.000Again, based on a case where the officers were found not to have committed a murder.
00:03:24.000New York City was, massive protests hit New York City while Barack Obama, Milwaukee burned while Barack Obama was president.
00:03:31.000So it's not as though Democrats haven't presided over this sort of stuff in the past.
00:03:34.000And it is democratic cities that are currently burning.
00:03:36.000It is democratic mayors who have allowed this to go on.
00:03:39.000As I mentioned yesterday, this really is not all that difficult.
00:03:42.000Government has one job, one job, protect your rights.
00:03:46.000And the minute that you say that the cops have to be pulled out of areas where they are protecting law-abiding citizens from criminals and villains, the minute you say that the cops are the bad guys and the criminals and the villains are the good guys, you have lost the thread.
00:03:58.000Well, the Democrats have lost the thread.
00:04:00.000And not only have they lost the thread, they've decided to reject reality.
00:04:06.000Reality is no longer of consequence in too many parts of the Democratic Party.
00:04:11.000And this is how you end up with the notion in the Democratic Party that facts are secondary to narrative.
00:04:17.000So there's more information now coming out on this shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, Wisconsin, which has led to these massive riots in Kenosha, Wisconsin, burning down of city blocks, right, while the Democrats said nothing about it all of last week.
00:04:30.000For the Democrats, it was all about America being systemically racist and evil and terrible and no good and very bad, but no real harsh words for the rioters and the looters, even Joe Biden's tepid little statements about how it's unnecessary violence.
00:05:01.000In the modern era, have you seen Republicans rioting?
00:05:03.000I'm old enough to remember when they were calling Tea Partiers terrorists for standing there with American flags and playing corny songs and wearing hats with the brims not properly bent.
00:05:36.000Because after all, you can just elect Joe Biden, this octogenarian 50-year politician who's not accomplished anything of major consequence in his career except for the only thing that he actually did was a criminal justice bill that lengthened sentences that he now says was a bad idea.
00:05:52.000So, all of this has come to a head in the last week and a half.
00:05:55.000You can see the shift in the narrative because Democrats are starting to realize that this is extraordinarily damaging, like seriously, seriously damaging to their electoral prospects.
00:06:03.000In Wisconsin particularly, rural Wisconsin is going to show up and vote now.
00:06:07.000Rural Minnesota and Minneapolis are going to show up and vote now.
00:06:09.000There are a lot of people who weren't going to show up and vote because they were alienated by Trump's personality and the DNC banked on people being alienated by Trump's personality.
00:06:25.000Trump can be a bad, orange, mean, bad, orange man.
00:06:28.000But when people are watching cities burn, and when they are watching suburbs being invaded by rioters and looters, and we saw that in Seattle last night, When they see people walking through the streets of major cities and being harassed and harangued by protesters getting directly in their face, when they're watching people being punched in the head for no reason other than their political perspective, when they see that, they go, okay, so you're telling me that because Trump is vulgar and a bore,
00:06:55.000And because he does things I don't like, that I'm supposed to vote for people who incentivize this sort of extortion?
00:07:12.000They are ignoring fact patterns in order to propagate a narrative they think will be electorally valuable for them, that will drive out what they think will be minority voters to the polls.
00:07:20.000I think it's gonna backfire in a pretty significant way here.
00:07:56.000We've been told by top-level Democrats that the facts of these cases do not matter because the overarching narrative is all that matters.
00:08:03.000And when you ignore the facts in order to preserve an overarching narrative that ends with riots and looting, when you soft-pedal the riots and the looting, Americans are going to resent it.
00:08:11.000For example, here's Wisconsin's Lieutenant Governor yesterday.
00:08:14.000He literally said we don't need an investigation into this case.
00:08:18.000This is Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes, Democrat of Wisconsin.
00:08:21.000He literally says in a case that requires an investigation, we don't need an investigation.
00:08:25.000Now, first of all, I think the facts on the ground and the tape on the ground already show that any investigation is going to end with the acquittal of these cops.
00:08:31.000You can't file criminal charges against police officers who arrive to arrest a man with an open warrant for domestic abuse and sexual assault.
00:08:42.000And by the way, we are now learning that one of the people, the person who called the cops, was apparently one of his prior victims.
00:09:18.000Here's the Lieutenant Governor of the state of Wisconsin claiming that we don't need an investigation to determine that this was not only a bad shooting, but a racial shooting.
00:09:24.000So they haven't established that it's bad.
00:09:26.000They haven't even established that it's racially motivated.
00:09:28.000They haven't established one iota of this stuff.
00:09:30.000All that matters is the overarching narrative.
00:09:32.000As long as Democrats propagate this stuff and then riots break out in the streets and they poo-poo it, Americans are not gonna vote for this.
00:09:40.000As the governor said, DCI's investigation is ongoing, but we don't need an investigation to know that Blake's shooting falls in a long and painful pattern of violence.
00:09:51.000And this is a pattern of violence that happens against black lives too often across this country.
00:09:58.000And as you all know, we saw even more gun violence unfold on Tuesday night, when two protesters were tragically killed and one other injured by gunshots.
00:10:07.000Okay, we don't need an investigation, and I'm going to give you the exact reverse of what happened.
00:10:12.000Okay, when it comes to the quote-unquote protesters who were shot and killed, the tape shows them attacking the person who did the shooting.
00:10:22.000By the way, we don't need an investigation is the mark of people who don't give a damn about due process.
00:10:26.000It turns out due process is one of the core protections of the Bill of Rights and one of the core reasons for government to exist.
00:10:31.000And there's the lieutenant governor saying we don't need an investigation to already determine how this fits into our pre-existing narrative about black people inherently being victims in the United States.
00:11:02.000With their powerful matching technology, ZipRecruiter will scan thousands of resumes to find people with the right experience and actively invite them to apply to your job.
00:11:09.000ZipRecruiter makes the entire hiring process efficient and effective.
00:11:13.000with features like screening questions to filter candidates and an all-in-one dashboard where you can review and rate your candidates.
00:11:19.000ZipRecruiter is so effective that four out of five employers who post on ZipRecruiter get a quality candidate within the very first day.
00:11:25.000So let's say the day after day after day, your producer, let's call him Colton, for example, he suggests guests that are just like, why would you possibly suggest that this person would make a good guest?
00:11:58.000All righty, so it was not just the Wisconsin Lieutenant Governor who says we don't need an investigation.
00:12:04.000It was Kamala Harris, your former prosecutor, right?
00:12:07.000Now, it seems to me that if you're a former prosecutor, you should be responsible enough to say, you know, we might need an investigation before we prosecute somebody, but Kamala Harris, let's throw them all in jail, Kamala Harris.
00:12:16.000She says we don't need an investigation.
00:12:19.000We should just charge the officer in the Jacob Blake case.
00:12:25.000Now, let me just take it with a grain of salt because Kamala Harris is an awful human being who literally has suggested that cops murder people when the murder not only has been investigated but debunked.
00:12:37.000She literally tweeted out last year that Michael Brown was murdered.
00:12:40.000Michael Brown, the 18-year-old, who attacked a police officer, reached into his car, fired the police officer's gun, tried to run away, turned around and charged the police officer and was shot for his trouble.
00:12:50.000That is according to two separate state prosecutors.
00:12:54.000That is according to the Obama Department of Justice.
00:12:58.000So here's Kamala Harris ignoring the requirements of due process, ignoring the notions of individual justice, ignoring the belief that facts matter, in order to preserve the narrative that black people are inherently put under the knife in the United States of America circa 2020.
00:13:10.000And then you expect people not to write, you expect people not to loot?
00:13:14.000Here's Kamala Harris doing this routine.
00:13:18.000Is there a scenario in which that officer Would have been justified, was justified in firing his weapon?
00:13:27.000Craig, I don't see it, but I don't have all the evidence.
00:13:31.000You know, the man was going to his car.
00:13:35.000And if he was not armed, the use of force that was seven bullets coming out of a gun at close range in the back of the man, I don't see how anybody could reason that that was justifiable.
00:13:49.000You think the officer should be charged?
00:13:51.000I think that there should be a thorough investigation.
00:13:54.000And based on what I've seen, it seems that the officer should be charged.
00:13:59.000Oh, well, so there should be a full investigation, but also he should be charged, which means you don't need the investigation, do you?
00:14:04.000She could just say there needs to be a thorough investigation.
00:14:06.000That could be the end of the sentence.
00:14:56.000See, this is the great misnomer, is that if you keep saying stuff like this, you're gonna drive black voters to the polls en masse, you're gonna get the Obama coalition of 2008 back together.
00:15:03.000When Democrats refuse to condemn the violence in the streets, when Democrats soft-pedal it, when they say things not like, it's a moral blight what is happening right now, it is vicious and evil what is happening right now, When they refuse to condemn this in stark terms, when instead they say things like, well, it's unnecessary, or we condemn violence on all sides, right?
00:15:21.000I'm old enough to remember, by the way, when it was considered insufficient, rightly, for the President of the United States to say about Charlottesville that there were bad people on many sides, there were bad things happening on many sides, on many sides.
00:15:51.000It is not because they are in thrall to black Americans.
00:15:55.000It is because they are in thrall to white, woke liberals who feel more virtuous by condemning the United States, by dissociating from the history, culture, and philosophy of the United States of America.
00:16:15.000And his speech, he talked about how he had grown up in Jim Crow America and how the rioters and the violent looters and all of these garbage human beings are in fact garbage human beings.
00:16:27.000And he named it and he shamed it in stark terms.
00:16:34.000The notion that black Americans are desperately in favor of people rioting and looting and burning down largely black communities, by the way, is insane.
00:16:41.000But Democrats have decided to rally around this flag because here's the problem.
00:16:45.000There are three visions of the United States that are currently on the table.
00:16:49.000Vision number one, the United States is an incredible place with an incredible founding philosophy.
00:16:54.000We have not always lived up to that founding philosophy, but working within the system of that philosophy and within the constitutional system, we can effectuate change that reaches toward the perfection of the ideals of the Declaration of Independence.
00:17:18.000They were a lie when written, as the 1619 Project says, and they remain a lie today.
00:17:23.000They were but pretty words slathered atop a base of racism and white supremacy, and that we need to destroy the system from within.
00:17:31.000This is the Ibram X. Kendi Anti-racist notion that in order to be anti-racist, you have to destroy the entire system.
00:17:38.000The Democratic Party wants it both ways.
00:17:41.000So the Democratic Party wants to argue, along with the disintegrationists, that America is indeed rooted in foundational racism, bigotry, homophobia, sexism, and all the rest, just like AOC says.
00:17:52.000But we should also work within the system.
00:17:55.000The problem is that once you have granted the premise to disintegrationists who wish to effectuate violent means, then you're just arguing over means.
00:18:02.000You're not arguing over core philosophy.
00:18:05.000Now, the Democrats, many of them, would like you to believe that they actually agree with the unionist vision, that America's founding philosophy is good, that you can work within the system.
00:18:12.000But then they refuse to condemn the violence because, in essence, too many of them agree with the fundamental premise of the rioters and looters, which is that America is so evil, thoroughly, rotten stem to stern, they just got to blow up the boat.
00:18:26.000So if you're just arguing whether to blow up the boat or whether you should put us in charge of the boat, that's going to be a difficult case to make.
00:18:33.000And that is why you're seeing Democrats be so ginger about all this.
00:18:35.000Now, again, you don't have to do this if you actually believe in the country.
00:18:38.000In a second, I'm going to show you a Democrat who believes in the country, a black Democrat from Tennessee who believes in the country enough to condemn what's going on.
00:19:55.000And again, use that code Ben to get 20% off.
00:19:57.000Okay, so Democrats are fully capable of condemning this stuff.
00:20:00.000Here's Representative John J. DiBari Jr., Democrat from Memphis, from the state legislature.
00:20:05.000Yeah, this is from August 12th, talking about the violence.
00:20:09.000My family raised money and sent my dad to Washington for that march.
00:20:14.000But that man stood there and said that he wanted his children judged by the content of their character, not the color of their skin.
00:20:25.000And all we do in America right now is talk about color.
00:20:29.000Every issue Every issue is about race, it's about color, instead of us sitting down at the table like men and women of common sense and common justice and understanding that our enemies are looking with a greedy vigilance upon us as we tear ourselves apart eternally.
00:21:24.000He's been ousted from the by the Tennessee Democratic Party's executive committee.
00:21:30.000He now has to run as an independent because he has conservative positions on issues like abortion and school choice.
00:21:37.000Okay, but there is a man who lived under segregation in Jim Crow, pointing out that doing violence, doing evil, is in fact evil.
00:21:44.000Will the Democrats take them up on this?
00:21:46.000No, of course the Democrats won't take them up on this.
00:21:48.000Instead, you'll get milquetoast, tepid statements from Joe Biden.
00:21:51.000So, yesterday, Joe Biden, he said, Weird, because I remember when Donald Trump said the same thing about the Charlottesville situation, the Charlottesville standoff between Antifa and the alt-right white supremacists.
00:22:05.000He was widely condemned, as he should have been, because he was not specific enough about the source of the original violence, namely the alt-right or the perspective of the alt-right.
00:22:13.000Here was Joe Biden doing the, yes, I condemn violence on all sides, on all sides, on all sides.
00:22:18.000By the way, I condemn violence in any form, whether it's looting or whatever it is.
00:22:24.000And by the way, when I spoke to the family, the mom was really incredibly straightforward.
00:22:30.000She said, this is not who we are as a family.
00:23:21.000When Trump tries to stop the violence, you call him a fascist.
00:23:24.000And then you suggest that he actually wants the violence, while you yourself continue to issue milquetoast statements about how you condemn all violence.
00:23:32.000I mean, sure, black people are being shot down by the cops at an exorbitant rate, and America is systemically racist and evil, but riots and looting, I mean, they're unnecessary.
00:23:41.000I struggle to think, if he believes that, when is violence necessary?
00:23:45.000Seriously, if you believe that America is such a place where black people are under daily threat from the establishment system, when would violence become necessary in Joe Biden's view?
00:23:53.000Here is Joe Biden trying to blame all of this on Trump.
00:23:56.000And by the way, making a soft extortion case in the process.
00:23:59.000You'll hear him say here that all of this will go away if he's elected.
00:24:03.000So in other words, just get rid of Donald Trump and all this goes away.
00:24:10.000The problem we have right now is we're in Donald Trump's America.
00:24:14.000You know, to quote Kelly Conway, she said, and I'm paraphrasing today, that they're looking for more violence and more disruption because it helps them politically.
00:24:24.000He views this as a political benefit to him.
00:24:26.000You know, he's rooting for more violence, not less, and it's clear about that.
00:24:54.000It's starting to come home because the polls are showing that Americans don't like this stuff.
00:24:58.000And so now Democrats are swiveling on in time and being like, oh yeah, I guess we probably should do something about it, maybe a little bit.
00:25:04.000But they're still incentivizing the riots and the looting.
00:25:07.000They're still giving credence to the main case, which is that America is broadly and systemically evil and racist.
00:25:12.000We'll hear Kamala Harris make that case.
00:25:14.000An extraordinarily wealthy, privileged black woman in the United States of America make the case that America literally does not care about black people.
00:25:34.000We heard the Daily Wire we've been using stamps.com since 2017 to save time and save money.

00:26:45.000As the Democrats softly claim that they're not in favor of the violence and the protests and the looting and all of this sort of stuff.
00:26:51.000Well, they try to separate off the protests from the violence, but as soon as you condemn the violence, they say you're condemning the protests.
00:26:56.000This is their little game, their little Mott & Bailey game.
00:26:59.000Well, Kamala Harris continues to make the case that black people in America are systemic victims.
00:27:03.000So here is Kamala Harris, the vice presidential nominee of a major party, a senator from California, And a woman who, according to Forbes.com, has a net worth in excess of $6 million, talking about how black people in the United States have never been treated as fully human.
00:27:18.000Which is weird, because it seems like Kamala Harris has been treated as fully human.
00:27:21.000Here is Kamala Harris, a full human, speaking as though she has not been treated as fully human because black people are not treated as fully human.
00:27:29.000The reality is that the life of a black person in America has never been treated as fully human.
00:27:36.000And we have yet to fulfill that promise of equal justice under law.
00:27:44.000We will only achieve that when we finally come together to pass meaningful police reform and broader criminal justice reform and acknowledge Yes, acknowledge and address systemic racism.
00:28:00.000Okay, it's the last point that she wants to harp on, right?
00:28:03.000When it comes to police reform, she doesn't give a damn.
00:28:05.000I mean, she didn't as a prosecutor in California, she didn't as the Attorney General of California, and she's one of the people who filibustered at Tim Scott's bill to actually undergo some police reform.
00:28:20.000The minute that you say, OK, you're not defining your term, but all right.
00:28:24.000They say, OK, well, now we require this commitment from you.
00:28:26.000A, B, C, D and E. None of them have to do with actually militating against inequality.
00:28:32.000None of them have to do with effectuating greater rights for black Americans.
00:28:35.000All of them have to do with an explicit political agenda for the Democratic Party.
00:28:41.000I'm sorry, I don't trust Kamala Harris on issues of what constitutes racism, considering one year ago she was calling her running mate a racist, and now she says that it's completely irrelevant.
00:28:49.000For Kamala Harris, as with so much of the Democratic Party, charges of racism are merely a tool to be used in order to blow up obstacles in your way, namely people you don't like.
00:28:58.000And the minute they become allies, well, you just forget about all of that.
00:29:01.000And so, the predictable result of all of this is that people are emboldened to engage in all sorts of awful behavior, because things aren't cooling down, are they?
00:29:09.000Now, I was informed that Joe Biden is so powerful in his verbiage alone, that in his very persona, he can calm the waters.
00:29:15.000After all, he's proposed zero actual effective policy when it comes to any of this stuff.
00:29:19.000He's talked about, if not, quote unquote, defunding the police, shifting funds away from the police and towards social workers, right?
00:29:26.000He has, I love the semantic games that are played here.
00:29:53.000So the Democratic Party does not have an agenda here other than to use the animus and the rage in the streets as a weapon against the American public and say, OK, well, if you if you want this to stop, all you got to do is check on this dotted line right here.
00:30:07.000Just punch this Chad right here and all this can end tomorrow.
00:30:10.000OK, so all of this results in increased violence around the country.
00:30:14.000Seattle, the violence continued to rage last night.
00:30:17.000A Seattle mob actually went to private homes last night, which always a great look.
00:30:20.000The Seattle mob went out to the suburbs and they tried to find the head of the police union.
00:30:25.000And they literally marched up to people's houses and threatened them.
00:30:29.000So you can see this tape, a woman literally walking up the front steps to somebody's private home.
00:30:39.000And nobody should feel threatened after all.
00:30:40.000I mean, this is all just the best among us.
00:30:42.000I mean, I've been told by Barack Obama, these protesters are the best among us.
00:30:45.000Speaking of the best among us, protesters went out to Lafayette Park last night because President Trump was speaking from the lawn of the White House.
00:30:51.000We'll get to President Trump's speech.
00:31:47.000It's a next-generation antivirus designed to stop modern threats like ransomware.
00:31:51.000There's an independent testing firm named AV-Test.
00:31:53.000They just named PCmatic as the top performer in the cybersecurity industry.
00:31:56.000They gave it the best performance award for 2019.
00:31:59.000Only PCmatic has American research, development, and support.
00:32:02.000PCmatic's competition is foreign-made, often in countries where malware originates.
00:32:07.000PCmatic blocks annoying, malicious ads for hassle-free web browsing.
00:32:10.000They make your computer faster and more reliable, even after years of use.
00:32:13.000And they'll protect Windows computers, including XP, Vista, Windows 7, 8, and 10, Windows servers, Macs, MacBooks, Android phones, and tablets.
00:33:01.000First, it is that glorious time of the week when I give a shoutout to a Daily Wire member.
00:33:05.000Today, it is Sarah O'Connor on Twitter, who understands the right way to prep for continued scholastic success.
00:33:10.000And also, how to fight the Terminator in the pick.
00:33:13.000Sarah is getting ready to enjoy a bowl of cereal while happily holding the world's most elite beverage vessel.
00:33:17.000The caption reads, starting off the new school year right with a nutritious breakfast of assorted grains and left to steers courtesy of the most glorious drinking vessel.
00:33:25.000Thanks Daily Wire for all the work you do.
00:33:48.000Last week, we covered all aspects of the DNC, both hilarious and the depressing, and then we argued for like half an hour behind the paywall about regulations on social media.
00:33:55.000This week, We'll be recapping all the best moments of the RNC, and I'm sure we'll be talking about the riots in the streets.
00:34:01.000Join me, Andrew Klavan, Michael Knowles, and Jeremy Boring tonight at 4 p.m.
00:34:24.000But all Americans are pretty well aware of what's going on in the country thanks to the interwebs.
00:34:28.000The media tried to black out the riots and the looting.
00:34:30.000They've tried to pretend for literally months on end that this stuff has not been going on.
00:34:32.000I'm old enough to remember when they declared that what was happening in my home city of Los Angeles was quote-unquote mostly peaceful protests while they literally curfewed the city at 7 p.m.
00:34:41.000every single evening And in Beverly Hills at 1pm, so rioters and looters could go around shattering windows and threatening people.
00:34:47.000So, the media tried to black it out, the Democrats tried to black it out, and now it's just bursting out into the open.
00:34:51.000Last night at Lafayette Park, the contrast could not have been more stark.
00:34:56.000The fact is that you're either standing with the people you're about to see, or you're standing against these people.
00:35:16.000And we saw this happen not that long ago.
00:35:18.000Well, there they were outside the church again being like, you know what, if we don't get what we want, we're burning it down.
00:35:22.000Now, you may notice that there are a lot of people there in very, very close proximity to one another not wearing masks.
00:35:43.000This will become relevant because later when we talk about President Trump's address on the South Lawn of the White House, the media went nuts because look at all these terrible people who are sitting there without masks on in close proximity.
00:35:54.000Yeah, so they care about that when it's one type of person.
00:35:57.000When it's another type of person, racial justice demands that you be able to spit in somebody else's face and give them COVID.
00:36:03.000In any case, that is a secondary point.
00:36:04.000You have people literally saying they want to burn things down if they don't get what they want.
00:36:08.000Again, I don't remember any of this at the Tea Party, and they were called terrorists by the media.
00:36:11.000And then we saw some Non-violent violence, right?
00:36:14.000This was, like, for example, I saw a mostly peaceful punch last night.
00:36:17.000So there was a guy, a white guy, who's walking down the street with his wife.
00:36:21.000Apparently these people look like they're at the very least in their 60s.
00:36:24.000Okay, and she's wearing a Trump 2020 shirt, and the white guy's just walking down the street.
00:36:28.000Some young piece of crap, who has a bullhorn, and he's shouting directly into his ear, probably doing him some sort of ear damage.
00:37:22.000But in any case, They brought the guillotine into Lafayette Park and they put together a mannequin of President Trump and then beheaded it.
00:37:31.000So, I'm old enough to remember when a rodeo clown lost his job because he wore a Barack Obama mask at the Missouri State Fair.
00:37:39.000And the entire media were like, America is systemically racist because a rodeo clown wore a mask of a president.
00:37:44.000By the way, that rodeo clown had worn masks of other presidents as well, it didn't matter.
00:38:27.000So here are some protesters getting rowdy with the police.
00:38:30.000You can see people trying to kick the cops, people trying to fight the cops.
00:38:41.000One of my favorite aspects of this particular tape is if you continue it long enough, you'll actually see a white lady screaming at a black officer, which is always my favorite, is when you see a Karen screaming at a black officer about systemic American racism.
00:38:55.000So lots of good stuff happening last night in Lafayette Park.
00:38:59.000And then this progressed into after the RNC, after Trump made his speech, a lot of the people who attended that were walking outside the White House on the street.
00:39:08.000And many of these people are older folks.
00:39:10.000They're all dressed nicely because they were just at the White House.
00:39:13.000And you see these pieces of human crap who are standing outside and flipping the bird and harassing and getting up in the faces of elderly people who are just walking out of the White House trying to leave.
00:39:25.000There you see a young guy who is screaming at people.
00:39:27.000You see a young woman running up to this elderly couple and screaming at them at the top of her lungs.
00:42:23.000Do people feel more warmly about one another?
00:42:25.000Do people feel more racial solidarity?
00:42:27.000Do people feel like the problems of the United States are being healed or are they being exacerbated?
00:42:31.000And meanwhile, the Democrats said nothing about any of this for a full week, and they let cities burn, and Portland burns, and Seattle burns, and Chicago burns, and Washington D.C.
00:42:44.000And by the way, you want to know how you can tell that nobody gives a damn about actually doing good or the agenda here?
00:42:50.000And how this is just propagandistic, sloganeering nonsense?
00:42:53.000So this clip is notable only for what the protester keeps shouting in the face of a sitting representative from Florida.
00:42:58.000So there's a representative named Brian Mast, And protesters confront Brian Mast and they start screaming at him.
00:43:05.000What do you think about the police shooting black people?
00:43:06.000He says, well, anytime somebody is wrongfully shot in the United States, that's bad.
00:43:09.000He said, but yes, but what about police shooting black people?
00:43:11.000And he says, well, anytime people are shot wrongfully in the United States, that's bad.
00:43:16.000Yes, but what about police shooting black?
00:43:17.000See, the premise is that you have to acknowledge against all available evidence that the police are disproportionately shooting black people, that black people are the victims of the American system, and that if you fail to acknowledge this openly, even if you say that you want justice for everybody who is mistreated in the United States, that's not good enough.
00:43:33.000You have to accept the fundamental disintegrationist premise That America is, was, and always will be a horribly racist place until you tear down all systems.
00:43:41.000Here is that in a ridiculous 30 second nutshell.
00:43:44.000How do you feel about police killing black people?
00:43:51.000It's far wrong to take anybody's rights away.
00:44:44.000Because in order to make the case that you ought to give them power and they'll fix it from within the system, You also have to make the case that the system is worth upholding, and they cannot make that system.
00:44:52.000Ibram Kendi has made it impossible to make that case.
00:44:55.000Robin DiAngelo has made it impossible to make that case.
00:44:57.000Either the system is so thoroughly corrupt it cannot be shored up from the inside and needs to be torn down, in which case rioting and looting are a natural outgrowth of that program, or the system is inherently good and worthwhile upholding, in which case your entire premise that America is a bad place and a systemically evil place is not true.
00:45:18.000Or at least they are unwilling to do so.
00:45:21.000So, that brings us to the RNC last night.
00:45:24.000And the great theme of the RNC last night was indeed that the Democratic Party has been taken over by the Radicals.
00:45:28.000They didn't even need to make the case.
00:45:30.000The case was right out there in the open.
00:45:33.000The case was pretty clear because all you had to do was look at that tape from Lafayette Park where innocent people who are just walking away from a political event are being harassed.
00:45:41.000Let me note, let's assume for a second that instead of Black Lives Matter protesters and rioters and looters, that the people we were actually looking at were alt-right people standing outside a Biden campaign rally harassing people as they went outside.
00:45:53.000Do you think that we might have a conversation with every single Republican about disassociating from the movement?
00:46:36.000It would be better if we had two parties that actually believed in the inherent goodness of America, rather than apparently only one party that still cares about the inherent goodness of the United States.
00:46:43.000So that was the theme of the convention last night.
00:47:45.000And this was the theme of the RNC last night.
00:47:48.000I relive that horror in my mind every single day.
00:47:54.000My hope is that having you relive it with me now will help shake this country from this nightmare we are witnessing in our cities and bring about positive, peaceful change.
00:48:08.000In a time when police departments are short on resources and manpower, we need that help.
00:48:16.000We must heal before we can affect change.
00:48:19.000But we cannot heal amid devastation and chaos.
00:48:24.000President Trump knows we need more Davids in our communities, not fewer.
00:48:28.000I'm old enough to remember when this was a bipartisan concern.
00:48:31.000In fact, I'm old enough to remember in my dim memory, because I was 10 years old at the time, when people like Joe Biden were backing exactly the kind of stuff that Ann Dorn is saying.
00:48:39.000That we need more people like David Dorn in our communities, not fewer.
00:49:01.000If you aren't, maybe you should wonder what happened to the Democratic Party such that they are having such a damned difficult time saying that rioting and looting are wrong, that America is actually a fundamentally good place.
00:49:11.000Now, Joe Biden will say it in his acceptance speech at the DNC.
00:49:15.000He'll say it because he'll lie to you that that's the program of the Democratic Party.
00:49:18.000Just as I said last week when he covered the DNC, there was a fundamental disconnect between what was happening at the DNC in the non-prime time hours and what was happening at the DNC in the prime time hours.
00:49:27.000During the non-prime time hours, they're removing God from the Pledge of Allegiance twice.
00:49:30.000During the non-prime time hours, they were urging people to kneel for the national anthem.
00:49:33.000During prime time, it was Joe Biden talking about how America is a wonderful country, and the Constitution is great, and the Declaration is great, and the founding ideals are wonderful.
00:50:20.000It's about unionists versus disintegrationists.
00:50:22.000It's about people who believe that the country is good versus people who fundamentally do not believe that the country is particularly good or worth upholding.
00:50:28.000Here is Mitch McConnell making that case last night in his own inimitably electrifying fashion.
00:50:35.000I'm immensely proud of the work the Republican Senate has done.
00:50:39.000We are the firewall against Nancy Pelosi's agenda.
00:50:43.000Like President Trump, we won't be bullied by liberal media intent on destroying America's institutions.
00:50:51.000We will stand our post on behalf of the millions of Americans whose stories aren't told in today's newspapers, whose struggles are just as real.
00:51:40.000Joe Biden is being told what to do by the radicals running my former party.
00:51:45.000The same radicals trying to install him as their puppet president.
00:51:51.000So this is the theme Rudy Giuliani spoke.
00:51:53.000So Rudy did not, in fact, speak about Ukraine or impeachment or anything like that.
00:51:56.000He focused in on what he was best at, which was stopping crime in New York City.
00:51:59.000The reason that Rudy Giuliani was considered America's mayor was not just because of 9-11.
00:52:02.000It's because he took a city in complete disarray in the early 1990s and turned Times Square from basically a seedy hotspot where you picked up prostitutes into Disneyland in the middle of New York City.
00:52:13.000He took it from one of the least safe cities in the United States to one of the most safe cities in the United States.
00:52:16.000And he says, listen, Don't let Democrats do for the country what they are currently doing to all of America's major cities.
00:52:22.000New Yorkers wonder, how did we get overwhelmed by crime so quickly and declined so fast?
00:52:30.000Don't let Democrats do to America what they have done to New York.
00:52:34.000It is clear that a vote for Biden and the Democrats creates the risk that you will bring this lawlessness to your city, to your town, to your suburb.
00:53:43.000Now, this was balanced out by the fact that President Trump, while proclaiming law and order, has been quite sympathetic to people who are trying to make their lives better after having committed crimes.
00:53:52.000He signed into criminal justice reform.
00:53:54.000Now, I've had problems with criminal justice reform because I think that there are elements of it that soften sentences for criminals.
00:53:59.000And frankly, I think that if you're a criminal, mostly you belong in prison.
00:54:02.000There are some people who make the best of their lives.
00:54:04.000One of those people, however, was Alice Marie Johnson.
00:54:06.000When President Trump heard about me, about the injustice of my story, he saw me as a person.
00:54:10.000and then he signed into law the criminal justice reform bill.
00:54:13.000Alice Johnson spoke at the RNC last night and she pointed out that under Joe Biden's bill, she went to jail and Donald Trump saw her as a human being who had decided to make the best of her life.
00:54:23.000When President Trump heard about me, about the injustice of my story, he saw me as a person.
00:55:16.000In fact, they're rooting for Joe Biden.
00:55:19.000America's other enemies won't give up either.
00:55:22.000But Joe Biden would be as wrong and weak over the next four years as he has been for the last 50.
00:55:30.000We need a president who stands up for America, not one who takes a knee.
00:55:36.000A strong and proud America is a safe America, safe from our enemies and safe from war.
00:55:43.000Okay, so this is the overall message of the RNC over the last four nights, right?
00:55:47.000Touting some of the stuff that Trump has done on the record, pushing on the notion that the Democrats have backed, again, a narrative that really tears the country apart.
00:55:55.000So how have the media responded to all this?
00:55:56.000So there were two big media narratives last night as all this was unfolding.
00:56:00.000One big media narrative is that Donald Trump is a bad man because he spoke from the White House.
00:56:03.000So Valerie Jarrett, the former chief of staff to Barack Obama, She tweeted out that she was very upset.
00:56:09.000She said, the White House has never before been used as a political prop during a convention.
00:56:12.000It belongs to all of the American people, not just those who support one party.
00:56:15.000Oh, it's never been used as a political prop, has it?
00:56:18.000I'm old enough to remember when Barack Obama lit the White House up with a gay pride flag after the Obergefell decision.
00:56:23.000I'm old enough to remember when Barack Obama used the White House to film all sorts of campaign videos.
00:56:28.000I mean, I'm old enough to remember, in fact, when Barack Obama turned the White House into a place where he could watch his favorite musicians perform their favorite concerts.
00:56:38.000I'm sorry, the sort of new pearl clutching propriety at the uses of the White House for political purposes.
00:57:26.000I think Trump could have figured out a thousand ways to do this differently.
00:57:29.000Is this going to lose Trump any votes?
00:57:32.000The pearl clutching from people who are poo-pooing actual riots in America's major cities.
00:57:37.000Also, the media were very, very upset at the lack of social distancing.
00:57:40.000So the media played this wonderful, wonderful game where social distancing is super important so long as you're a conservative or a churchgoer or a person who wants to go to school or go to your work.
00:57:48.000Social distancing is really, really important.
00:58:05.000distancing hashtag RNC 2020. Okay so first of all worth noting it's outdoors. Second of all, the selective outrage with regard to masking and social distancing is pretty astonishing is it not?
00:58:15.000I mean the selective outrage is so over the top. How do I know? Here's the headline today from the Washington Post. March on Washington updates.
00:58:23.000Thousands gather at Lincoln Memorial to march for racial equality.
00:58:27.000March on Washington organizers expect 50,000 people to gather in Washington on Friday to call for criminal justice reform and racial equity and to honor the 57th anniversary of Reverend Martin Luther King Jr.' 's I Have a Dream address from the same spot.
00:58:40.000Organizers began planning in June after the funeral of George Floyd.
00:58:43.000They recently lowered their crowd estimates, citing fewer buses arriving in the city because of COVID.
00:58:47.000They plan to highlight the civil rights issues of today and bring well-known speakers to address the crowd while also mitigating the spread of the novel coronavirus with strict safety protocols.
00:59:02.000We'll begin with speeches from the steps of the Lincoln Memorial, followed by a choreographed march to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial in West Potomac Park.
00:59:08.000The event is expected to end around 3 p.m.
00:59:11.000By the way, there are already pictures emerging.
00:59:13.000A lot of people are not actually wearing masks.
00:59:15.000A lot of people are grouped closely together, just like they were last night in the middle of these Lafayette Park protests.
00:59:20.000The media have nothing to say about that sort of stuff.
00:59:22.000So, you know they're clutching at straws and they're looking for a counter-narrative when the best they can do is that.
00:59:26.000By the way, the best attempt at a counter-narrative was a woman named Andrea Bernstein from WNYC and ProPublica.
00:59:32.000Last night, Ivanka Trump spoke at the RNC and it was, you know, eh.
00:59:37.000I don't know that she had anything special to say other than Trump is her dad.
00:59:40.000But Ivanka, at one point, was talking about her three-year-old daughter making a Lego model of the White House.
00:59:47.000Here is what Andrea Bernstein tweeted, quote, Ivanka Trump has tweeted a photo of her son Joseph, sorry, it's her son, three-year-old, with his grandfather at the Resolute Desk with the Lego White House.
00:59:56.000I've asked the White House if three-year-old Joseph indeed built it of his own initiative and if he had assistance.
01:00:29.000Slow clap for these people who continue to maintain without evidence that what happened in Kenosha in the shooting was a white supremacist who went there for blood.
01:00:36.000That cops are routinely out there waking up in the morning and killing black people.
01:00:40.000And that all of this is Donald Trump's fault.
01:00:43.000These reporters, they are so good at what they do.
01:00:44.000Okay, so all of this brings us to Trump's actual speech.
01:00:47.000And so now, finally, I know, we're going a bit long here, but a lot of news.
01:00:51.000President Trump gives his final RNC acceptance speech.
01:01:32.000Buried in a 70-minute speech was about 25 minutes of an excellent speech.
01:01:36.000And then there was this long litany of stuff that he'd done, things that he was going to do, and it sounded more like a State of the Union, frankly, than like an acceptance speech, which is supposed to be crystallized and condensed and drawing the contrast.
01:01:46.000That stuff was in there, but it was buried in a bunch of other stuff.
01:01:48.000So it was like a Wagnerian opera, and it was three hours and it could have been an hour and a half.
01:01:53.000But in any case, Trump did say many of the things that needed to be said, and he said most of them in the first five minutes, which is the part that really matters.
01:01:59.000And again, most people didn't watch the entire thing live.
01:02:01.000So President Trump led off by, again, talking about pride in country, which is something that Democrats simply cannot talk about these days because they keep talking about how America is a horrible, evil place.
01:02:11.000And always, unless they're running the place, it's horrible and evil.
01:02:42.000One of the problems for Trump is always the teleprompter Trump.
01:02:44.000He's less energetic than Rally Trump, but you know what?
01:02:46.000Better he should stay on teleprompter for the rest of this campaign.
01:02:49.000If Trump just stays on teleprompter the rest of this campaign, I think he will be re-elected.
01:02:52.000If he gets off teleprompter and starts tweeting random crap tomorrow, then obviously all the good work done by the RNC will be undone pretty quickly.
01:03:03.000And then he made a pledge, which the media were immediately freaking out because Trump basically said, we're developing a vaccine and maybe we'll produce a vaccine before the end of the year, maybe even sooner.
01:03:12.000So they're saying he's going to October surprise this thing.
01:03:14.000First of all, if he did, wouldn't that be like the best thing ever?
01:03:31.000In recent months, our nation and the entire planet has been struck by a new and powerful, invisible enemy.
01:03:42.000Like those brave Americans before us, we are meeting this challenge.
01:03:47.000We are delivering life-saving therapies, and we'll produce a vaccine before the end of the year, or maybe even sooner.
01:03:58.000Okay, so the media freaked out about this.
01:03:59.000And then he started in with the real contrast between the two parties.
01:04:03.000And this was the key section of his speech.
01:04:05.000Frankly, I think his speech writers, if they haven't read the book, they certainly listen to the show.
01:04:08.000Because when I talk about the contrast between a unionist vision of the United States and our history, and the disintegrationist vision of the United States and her history, that's what Trump was talking about.
01:04:18.000Here was Trump talking about what drew America together, what makes America unique.
01:04:24.000What united generations past was an unshakable confidence in America's destiny and an unbreakable faith in the American people.
01:04:36.000They knew that our country is blessed by God and has a special purpose in this world.
01:04:43.000It is that conviction that inspired the formation of our union, our westward expansion, the abolition of slavery, The passage of civil rights, the space program, and the overthrow of fascism, tyranny, and communism.
01:05:03.000This towering American spirit has prevailed over every challenge and lifted us to the summit of human endeavor.
01:05:14.000And yet, despite all of our greatness as a nation, everything we have achieved Is now in danger.
01:05:21.000That is absolutely correct, obviously.
01:05:22.000And then he goes on, he explicitly spells out the choice.
01:05:25.000He says, this is really about the visions of America and you're going to have to pick.
01:05:30.000At no time before have voters faced a clearer choice between two parties, two visions, two philosophies or two agendas.
01:05:42.000This election will decide whether we save the American dream or whether we allow a socialist agenda to demolish our cherished destiny.
01:06:10.000And meanwhile, the Democratic Party is saying we ought to give them space.
01:06:13.000We have to let them do what they want to do.
01:06:14.000Here is Trump saying, listen, there's either going to be a law abiding country that believes in itself or it ain't.
01:06:19.000Your vote will decide whether we protect law abiding Americans or whether we give free reign to violent anarchists and agitators and criminals who threaten our citizens.
01:06:36.000And this election will decide whether we We'll defend the American way of life or whether we will allow a radical movement to completely dismantle and destroy it.
01:07:00.000So clearly, Biden never mentioned Trump because the entire DNC was about Trump, so he never had to be named.
01:07:05.000He's like Voldemort, you never had to say his name.
01:07:06.000Trump was trying to make the issue Biden, but really more than Biden, the entire DNC.
01:07:10.000Here he says exactly what he means about Biden's agenda.
01:07:15.000At the Democrat National Convention, Joe Biden and his party repeatedly assailed America as a land of racial, economic, and social injustice.
01:07:26.000So tonight I ask you a simple question.
01:07:30.000How can the Democrat Party ask to lead our country when it spends so much time tearing down our country?
01:08:37.000Again, buried in a 70-minute speech, there was some really, really, really good stuff.
01:08:41.000Then he went into a litany of all the things Biden has done wrong over his career, from being friendly to China to being wrong on nearly every...
01:08:55.000Is Biden Biden as a as a Trojan horse for socialism, a case that I've been making pretty regularly?
01:09:01.000Biden is a Trojan horse for socialism.
01:09:04.000If Joe Biden doesn't have the strength to stand up to wild eyed Marxists like Bernie Sanders and his fellow radicals, and there are many There were many, many.
01:09:28.000He points out, I mean, this is such a gaping hole for the Democrats.
01:09:32.000They went through their entire convention without mentioning rioting and looting and violence in America's cities once, because these are all Democratic cities.
01:09:41.000Very awkward stuff for the Democrats, so they're focusing in on Ivanka Trump's son's Lego set.
01:09:46.000During their convention, Joe Biden and his supporters remained completely silent about the rioters and criminals spreading mayhem in Democrat-run cities.
01:09:58.000They never even mentioned it during their entire convention.
01:10:24.000At least 13 members of Joe Biden's campaign staff donated to a fund to bail out vandals, arsonists, anarchists, looters and rioters from jail.
01:11:14.000Okay, the convention concluded with this big fireworks show.
01:11:16.000So Biden did this kind of tiny little fireworks show in Delaware.
01:11:19.000And Trump, everything is bigger and better and glitzier and ritzier.
01:11:23.000So he did this big fireworks show around the Washington Monument, and the fireworks actually spelled out Trump 2020, which is really drumpy.
01:11:32.000Just a big giant gold T appearing in the sky.
01:11:36.000This also prompted, there were pictures last night of the rioters and the protesters who are standing there flipping off the fireworks, because fireworks are also systemically racist.
01:11:43.000Alrighty, well, you now have your contrast.
01:11:45.000So now, you get to decide, which America do you want?
01:11:48.000And we'll see whether Trump can maintain that message going forward.
01:11:50.000Okay, we'll be back here later today with two additional hours of content.
01:11:53.000Also, tonight we're doing a backstage, so we'll be discussing everything RNC and riot related, so stick around for that.
01:11:58.000You're listening to The Ben Shapiro Show.
01:12:04.000The Ben Shapiro Show is produced by Colton Haas.
