00:00:05.000 Joe Rogan Podcast by night.
00:00:07.000 All day.
00:00:12.000 Boom.
00:00:13.000 Alright, here we are.
00:00:14.000 We're in a plane right now.
00:00:16.000 Flying.
00:00:17.000 Where?
00:00:17.000 What?
00:00:17.000 Ocean?
00:00:18.000 Pacific.
00:00:19.000 Flying above the Pacific.
00:00:20.000 I'm with Dana White.
00:00:21.000 What's up?
00:00:22.000 Tony Haysgood.
00:00:23.000 Hello, everybody.
00:00:24.000 And we're...
00:00:26.000 Basically, we're in shock.
00:00:28.000 Right now, no one here should be allowed to vote.
00:00:31.000 We shouldn't be allowed to drive.
00:00:34.000 We should all be forced to settle in, don't make any rash decisions.
00:00:40.000 Right now we're dealing with this is a crazy time.
00:00:43.000 We just got done watching.
00:00:47.000 It might not be the biggest upset in combat sports history.
00:00:50.000 I know I said it after the fight.
00:00:51.000 I think Buster Douglas might have been a bigger upset because Buster Douglas was kind of a fuck-up.
00:00:57.000 He was kind of a guy who didn't really train hard, didn't take care of himself.
00:01:03.000 And he was a 42-1 underdog when he knocked out Mike Tyson.
00:01:06.000 Holly Holm was only a 12-1 underdog when she knocked out Ronda.
00:01:10.000 And Holly was, you know, very respected in the combat sports world.
00:01:14.000 Multiple time boxing and world kickboxing champion.
00:01:17.000 But still, on Twitter, when I was hyping this fight up and I was telling people about this fight, so many people were saying, you're trying to sell us bullshit.
00:01:25.000 You know Holly doesn't have a chance.
00:01:26.000 Freddie Roach said Ronda Rousey's going to destroy her.
00:01:29.000 It was all these articles saying you're just going to...
00:01:31.000 So...
00:01:32.000 It was an upset.
00:01:33.000 But it wasn't just that it was an upset.
00:01:36.000 It was the way she did it.
00:01:37.000 The way she did it.
00:01:38.000 She fought the perfect fight.
00:01:40.000 And when she head kicked Ronda, just the icing, the cherry on the cake, goodnight everybody, and hammer fisted her when she was out.
00:01:49.000 I mean, we're all shocked.
00:01:51.000 I'm in shock.
00:01:53.000 I mean, there's a reason right now why literally my phone at 4 o'clock in the morning was going crazy.
00:02:00.000 Every media outlet on earth, I mean, you name it.
00:02:05.000 Dave Schaller, our PR guy, said...
00:02:08.000 Pick an outlet.
00:02:09.000 Just say something.
00:02:10.000 Pull the name out.
00:02:12.000 They called and they want.
00:02:13.000 Either Holly or Rhonda.
00:02:15.000 They want to talk to them.
00:02:16.000 And I was saying earlier to you guys, Patriots are looking good this season.
00:02:21.000 They just went 9-0.
00:02:23.000 They could win another Super Bowl.
00:02:25.000 The world will not go fucking crazy the way the world went when two badass human beings square off in a combat fight.
00:02:37.000 The world goes fucking crazy, man.
00:02:39.000 We're not used to women doing that.
00:02:43.000 There was like a brief moment in the past where Christy Martin got big.
00:02:48.000 Remember the coal miner's daughter and she used to box on TV and she would have these kind of fights but one of the things about watching women fight was they didn't really knock each other out.
00:02:57.000 They'd sort of beat each other and they'd punch each other but When Holly head-kicked Ronda last night, it wasn't just that she beat her.
00:03:06.000 It was just that Ronda was such a superstar.
00:03:09.000 When such a superstar gets beaten like that, the whole world has to go, what?
00:03:14.000 It's like when Buster Douglas knocked out Mike Tyson.
00:03:16.000 It wasn't that a guy got knocked out.
00:03:18.000 Everybody knows guys can knock guys out.
00:03:20.000 We've seen Mike Tyson knock out a hundred guys.
00:03:22.000 It's not that.
00:03:23.000 It was that Mike Tyson got knocked out.
00:03:25.000 What?
00:03:26.000 What?
00:03:27.000 It didn't fit in our paradigm of how the world works.
00:03:30.000 The world works.
00:03:31.000 Ronda Rousey runs out, grabs girls, throws them on their head, arm bars them, or she knees them in the stomach, punches them in the face, takes them out.
00:03:39.000 To see that happen, the way it happened, to see Holly Holm fight the perfect fight.
00:03:46.000 And be so classy.
00:03:48.000 All through the media, everything she did, cool as a cucumber.
00:03:52.000 During the weigh-ins, Ronda's screaming at her in her face and everything.
00:03:56.000 Holly was stone-faced, never changed her expression.
00:03:59.000 I mean, the whole thing was just...
00:04:01.000 It's almost the same feeling, not the same feeling, but almost the same feeling that I got on 9-11, watching those giant trade centers come down.
00:04:11.000 No, I'm serious.
00:04:12.000 When the Trade Centers got hit by planes, we were like, holy fuck.
00:04:16.000 But when you watched them actually come down, you're like, there's no way something that solid and that stabilized and strong and powerful is coming down right now.
00:04:24.000 And that's how I felt when the leg kick happened.
00:04:27.000 I felt like there was a delayed reaction from everybody.
00:04:30.000 People were like, oh yeah, she just got head kicked and she went down, but it's not over.
00:04:34.000 It's not really over.
00:04:36.000 And until the ref, until I heard Dean waved that hand, I still think it took 10, 20, 30 seconds before people really realized what was happening there.
00:04:45.000 I was outlining it before the fight.
00:04:47.000 And what was funny was all these people on Twitter were like, you know, you're trying to sell us this bullshit.
00:04:52.000 We're already watching.
00:04:53.000 Stop trying to sell us bullshit.
00:04:55.000 You know Ronda's going to kill her.
00:04:56.000 But as I'm outlining it, I'm outlining...
00:05:00.000 Kicks.
00:05:01.000 I'm talking about oblique kicks.
00:05:02.000 I'm talking about movement and distance and Holly Holm's striking credentials.
00:05:08.000 I'm like, this is a complicated fight for Ronda.
00:05:12.000 And it really sunk in with me when I saw her at the weigh-ins.
00:05:17.000 You could tell that she realized, even though Holly wasn't doing anything disrespectful, she wanted to get this emotional.
00:05:24.000 She wanted to turn this into something very, very personal.
00:05:27.000 Yeah, and she, you know, I don't know what was going on, but Rhonda was, you know, when you do that at the day of the weigh-ins, you're trying to get in her head, you're trying to rattle her, shake her up, and Holly was not rattled or shaken one bit at all, at all.
00:05:42.000 What's the other thing that we were talking about during the broadcast?
00:05:45.000 We were saying, like, this is a girl who's...
00:05:47.000 She's faced intense pressure before, world championship pressure, in boxing and kickboxing.
00:05:52.000 She's been there, man.
00:05:54.000 She's been there.
00:05:55.000 People were shitting all over this fight.
00:05:56.000 I did a radio tour the week we left for Australia.
00:06:00.000 I said, this girl's had 45 fights and had multiple world titles.
00:06:06.000 There's a sense of...
00:06:09.000 You know, experience and this just calm feeling, even though she's going in against Ronda Rousey, and Ronda is, you know, I guess now you could say she was really the female Tyson for the sport because of the way everybody's reacting to her loss.
00:06:25.000 But this girl has a lot of experience, man.
00:06:29.000 It's a big deal.
00:06:30.000 And she has the distance, the range.
00:06:32.000 She has great head kicks and good hands.
00:06:35.000 This was a great fight.
00:06:37.000 This was the fight to make.
00:06:38.000 Yeah.
00:06:39.000 Well, you know what it was?
00:06:40.000 Is that she didn't come into her own in the UFC until this fight.
00:06:44.000 Like, even though she looked great in other organizations and she knocked people out, when she fought in the UFC, the few fights she had in the UFC, she was still trying to find her footing.
00:06:54.000 Like in the Raquel Pennington fight.
00:06:55.000 She looked good, but she didn't look like a world beater.
00:06:58.000 It's like, we talk about this all the time, but being in the UFC is such an overwhelming experience for fighters that it takes them several fights.
00:07:08.000 Like, Kyle Noak.
00:07:10.000 Like, Kyle Noak has had, what, 10 fights in the UFC? I don't even know how many fights he's had in the UFC. But last night, came into his own.
00:07:17.000 Last night, when Kyle Noak fought Sabata, he came into his own.
00:07:22.000 He landed that, he looked fantastic, landed that front kick to body, and said to himself, When I was interviewing him, he's finally believing in himself.
00:07:30.000 It takes a while to get comfortable in there.
00:07:33.000 The other thing too, this sport, in this sport, it's so different.
00:07:39.000 We're on a plane right now.
00:07:41.000 What's your name, ma'am?
00:07:42.000 Giselle.
00:07:43.000 And Giselle is the flight attendant.
00:07:46.000 Thank you very much, ma'am.
00:07:47.000 Would you two like to eat together?
00:07:49.000 Sure.
00:07:50.000 I won't judge you.
00:07:50.000 That would be awesome.
00:07:51.000 Yes?
00:07:51.000 Yeah, we'll pause this for a moment.
00:07:53.000 We'll come back in a little bit.
00:07:55.000 Yeah.
00:07:55.000 Oh, you're going to set up the tray right now?
00:07:57.000 Is that what you're doing?
00:07:57.000 I'll come back.
00:07:58.000 Okay, okay.
00:07:59.000 Thanks.
00:07:59.000 I'm not doing three, so...
00:08:00.000 All right.
00:08:00.000 Thank you, Giselle.
00:08:02.000 Well, the other thing is...
00:08:03.000 Is that in this sport, and we say this all the time, there's so many different ways to win and lose and it's so hard to be perfect all the time in this sport.
00:08:13.000 To go undefeated and go on these long runs for 10 years like Jose Aldo or as long as Anderson Silva did or as long as Ronda Rousey did.
00:08:27.000 We're good to go.
00:08:45.000 They are fucking great.
00:08:47.000 They are truly great.
00:08:50.000 And then you take all the things about physically not being perfect, then add the pressure and the workload that gets put on you when you become a UFC champion.
00:08:58.000 Ronda Rousey did it better than anybody's ever done it.
00:09:02.000 The amount of work...
00:09:03.000 And the time she put in, how hard she trained, the things that she would do.
00:09:07.000 She didn't become a huge superstar the way that she did for no reason.
00:09:10.000 She worked at it.
00:09:11.000 And you see Connor work at it.
00:09:13.000 And these guys that can go on these long runs are very unique individuals.
00:09:19.000 And the pressure that she's under.
00:09:21.000 And the pressure and the distractions.
00:09:24.000 When you see her in all those media events.
00:09:26.000 I mean, we've all seen her on all these different talk shows and all these magazine articles.
00:09:31.000 Is that your...
00:09:32.000 Is that your music?
00:09:33.000 Oh my God, it is.
00:09:35.000 I'm sorry.
00:09:36.000 Listen to this song.
00:09:37.000 He's got his Beats headphones blaring.
00:09:39.000 But when you see all these things, I tune into them and I see them, but I don't think of how many she's doing that I'm aware of them.
00:09:49.000 If you're aware of someone on The Tonight Show, if you're aware of someone in a Rolling Stone article, think about how many things they're doing that you're not aware of.
00:09:58.000 Think of how much shit Rhonda is doing all day long, constantly her phone's blowing up, media requests, constantly people asking her to do things.
00:10:06.000 And you know, as well, you know, most people don't realize, they look at somebody and go, oh, big deal, you gotta do interviews, you gotta do this.
00:10:14.000 It sucks a lot of energy on you, man.
00:10:16.000 Doing that stuff is very time consuming.
00:10:18.000 You always have to be on.
00:10:19.000 There's tons of preparation that goes into it.
00:10:21.000 The travel that's needed to do it.
00:10:24.000 It's a heavy workload when you become the champion.
00:10:27.000 Well, it's a heavy workload for a guy like you who doesn't have to fight.
00:10:31.000 It's a heavy workload.
00:10:32.000 Constantly doing interviews.
00:10:33.000 There's someone who has to fight and you have preparation.
00:10:35.000 You have to train.
00:10:37.000 You have to eat right.
00:10:38.000 You have to sleep right.
00:10:39.000 You have to make sure that you get all of your physical preparation in.
00:10:43.000 I mean...
00:10:43.000 It's a massive, massive distraction.
00:10:46.000 Carlo Esparza.
00:10:48.000 Carlo Esparza won tough.
00:10:52.000 She was the champion.
00:10:53.000 We started putting her out.
00:10:54.000 She had to do media.
00:10:55.000 Then we needed her to defend her title, and she started to freak out early.
00:10:59.000 Like, this is too much.
00:11:02.000 I'm breaking out.
00:11:03.000 I just got off the Ultimate Fighter.
00:11:05.000 I trained for this fight.
00:11:06.000 I won the show, and now I've got to defend the title, and I've got to go back.
00:11:10.000 It's just, people start, you know, Rhonda said this quote this last week.
00:11:14.000 She said, These people who think they want to be the world champion have no idea what it really takes to be the world champion.
00:11:23.000 And it's so true.
00:11:25.000 You know, I remember when BJ Penn beat Matt Hughes and I was interviewing Matt in the Octagon and Matt was very candid and very honest and I really admire the way he approached it because no one's ever...
00:11:36.000 I never interviewed anybody before and they talked about it like that.
00:11:39.000 He said, honestly, losing is a relief.
00:11:41.000 He said it was just a tremendous amount of pressure being the champ and having all these people coming after me.
00:11:48.000 And honestly, it was a relief.
00:11:49.000 I'm like, wow, what a ballsy guy he is to admit that like that.
00:11:54.000 What an honest guy.
00:11:55.000 It's so true.
00:11:56.000 The amount of pressure that these guys are under and the workload.
00:12:01.000 And then you take Ronda and you add movies on top of it.
00:12:03.000 She's doing movies on top of it and books and going on book tours and all this stuff.
00:12:08.000 It's a lot of work for anybody.
00:12:10.000 But like I said, she did it better than anybody's ever done it.
00:12:14.000 She really did.
00:12:15.000 Now, when you look at the fight stylistically, that's one of the crazy things about fights.
00:12:20.000 You can get a guy like Floyd Mayweather that figures out how to box people and get to a 49-0 record.
00:12:26.000 But to figure out how to beat every different style of martial artist...
00:12:31.000 When you're talking about takedowns, leg kicks, all these different things, we talked about the one thing that we hadn't seen Ronda deal with was someone who knows how to kick.
00:12:39.000 And we really hadn't.
00:12:40.000 Kat Singana was the only possibility, and Kat just made a crazy mistake and rushed Ronda, got caught in a scramble, and got armbarred.
00:12:49.000 But what Holly Holm was able to do, it was the first time we ever saw anybody who knows how to kick.
00:12:55.000 Keep her on the outside, a lot of movement, a lot of kicking, and that's kind of missing in Ronda's game.
00:13:01.000 The kicking aspect, we really, I don't recall ever seeing her throw a kick.
00:13:07.000 I mean, if she has, maybe one or two ever.
00:13:09.000 I mean, do you remember seeing her kick?
00:13:11.000 Yeah, I don't know.
00:13:13.000 The thing is that Ronda was a fucking tornado and ripping through everybody in seconds.
00:13:19.000 So you probably don't get to see her full game or what she's got.
00:13:24.000 And last night was just...
00:13:28.000 It's just craziness.
00:13:29.000 So it's tough to sit back and look at game plan because the other thing is, what are you going to do with Holly?
00:13:37.000 Now you can look back and say, well, she probably should have tried to grapple with her.
00:13:40.000 She should maybe try to double leg her, get in the clinch, take her down, do this, that, and everything else.
00:13:44.000 But that's not Ronda.
00:13:46.000 Rhonda is, I'm going to go out and I'm going to fucking bang with you.
00:13:49.000 I'm going to try to throw you.
00:13:51.000 If I get the opportunity to throw you, I'll throw you.
00:13:53.000 She just, she never got any opportunities.
00:13:56.000 She got into a couple exchanges.
00:13:57.000 She rocked Holly a couple times, but she never really...
00:14:00.000 You think she rocked her?
00:14:01.000 Yeah, I think she did.
00:14:02.000 Really?
00:14:03.000 From what I remember seeing the fight, I remembered seeing Holly look like she got hurt a couple times in the fight by Rhonda.
00:14:09.000 I didn't see that.
00:14:10.000 I remember seeing her charging after Holly and maybe connecting a couple times with punches, but Holly was always moving back.
00:14:17.000 And you know, when someone's moving away and you hit them, it doesn't have nearly as much impact.
00:14:22.000 There's no doubt.
00:14:22.000 She was on the outside and she was picking her apart and hitting her with big shots.
00:14:27.000 And planting.
00:14:28.000 Yep.
00:14:28.000 Planting and then throwing that straight left.
00:14:30.000 Moving, planting, throwing that straight left.
00:14:31.000 Hit her with a big elbow one time.
00:14:34.000 Hitting her with hooks.
00:14:35.000 She hit her with a couple of those oblique kicks to the legs too, which jar your knees.
00:14:39.000 It reminded me of watching an actual bullfight of when the bull charges and the matador hits that sword a couple of times.
00:14:49.000 That's what it reminded me of.
00:14:51.000 Well, that's what you were saying about the time when Rhonda missed?
00:14:53.000 Yeah, oh my god.
00:14:54.000 When Rhonda missed that one time and she turns around and looks, it looked like a scene from a movie.
00:14:59.000 When she missed and stumbled.
00:15:00.000 Yeah.
00:15:00.000 She like completely whiffed and Holly just ducked under and was out of the way.
00:15:05.000 And she turned around and she had a look on her face like, who am I going against right now?
00:15:10.000 It's exactly what her face said and she was wearing it and I think that was a huge turning point.
00:15:17.000 I also think, you know, I went crazy when...
00:15:21.000 Holly Holm took her down because they were clinched up and it looked like Rondo was trying to get that toss in.
00:15:26.000 All of a sudden Holly lifted and sort of just did like a standing double leg sort of and got her down.
00:15:33.000 It was I think psychologically a huge turning point.
00:15:36.000 They got into a clinch there at one point and they ended up going down on the ground and Rondo was trying to get an armbar on her and then Holly pulled out of it.
00:15:45.000 Yeah, I gotta see the fight again.
00:15:47.000 It was so fast and crazy.
00:15:49.000 We replayed the entire second round.
00:15:51.000 But the second round, she was already beaten up.
00:15:53.000 We had time.
00:15:54.000 And I said to Bruce in the truck, I was like, let's do the whole fight again.
00:15:57.000 Let's do the whole fight and comment on it.
00:15:59.000 And, you know, with the knowledge of what had happened.
00:16:02.000 Because we're only dealing with, you know...
00:16:04.000 Seven minutes let's let's do this whole thing again, but we wound up playing the second round again and Rhonda came out for that second round already Flustered already she was so tired going back to that first round like her legs were wobbly she was breathing heavy and I like Edmund.
00:16:21.000 I talk to Edmund all the time.
00:16:23.000 I enjoy talking to him.
00:16:24.000 I always hug that guy when I see him.
00:16:25.000 I do not like what he did in the corner.
00:16:28.000 He wasn't honest with her.
00:16:29.000 He told her she did great.
00:16:31.000 He was a great round champ.
00:16:33.000 Maybe he was trying to psychologically pump her up, but that's not what you need.
00:16:37.000 She needed technical advice.
00:16:40.000 She needed someone to tell her what she's doing wrong and how to correct it.
00:16:45.000 He's more of a boxing coach than he is an overall MMA coach.
00:16:53.000 The thing is that if it isn't broke, don't fix it.
00:17:00.000 That's a very good point.
00:17:01.000 The thing is now is what do they do?
00:17:04.000 Listen, at the end of the day, Edmund's a guy who really cares about Ronda and her career and all of that stuff.
00:17:10.000 So I think as a team, they'll sit down and try to figure out what went wrong and what needs to be fixed.
00:17:17.000 You know, and Tony, you had a great point.
00:17:19.000 We were at breakfast today.
00:17:20.000 You were like, all these people on Twitter, they knew what was going to happen.
00:17:24.000 Oh, you knew.
00:17:25.000 Oh, well, I assume you bet everything you had then, right?
00:17:28.000 Right, yeah.
00:17:29.000 Everybody wants to say that they knew what happened.
00:17:31.000 Well, then, you know, where's your betting slip?
00:17:33.000 You want to know something?
00:17:34.000 Vegas went down last night.
00:17:46.000 Oh, my God.
00:18:08.000 I love that.
00:18:09.000 And there's some guy, his name's Vegas Dan or something like that.
00:18:13.000 He bet $25,000 on her.
00:18:16.000 $20,000.
00:18:17.000 He bet $21,000, $240,000.
00:18:19.000 Yeah.
00:18:21.000 12 to 1. The Bellagia's going to have to shut off their fountains, save that water bill for a little bit.
00:18:27.000 The other big bet that everybody was taking was the over.
00:18:30.000 The over was a round and a half.
00:18:33.000 Yeah.
00:18:34.000 Yeah.
00:18:35.000 You know, it's an interesting situation because I love Rhonda as a person.
00:18:41.000 I consider her a good friend.
00:18:43.000 I really like her.
00:18:44.000 And I know you do too.
00:18:48.000 A person, I'm sad for her loss that this happened to her, but Holly Holm is a great person too.
00:18:57.000 They're two great competitors, and I think ultimately what happened yesterday, last night, is great for martial arts.
00:19:06.000 You know, and it's great for MMA, because even though it was terrible for Ronda, and I feel terrible for her, I feel great for Holly Holm.
00:19:15.000 It's very conflicted.
00:19:18.000 It's crazy.
00:19:18.000 I'm trying to figure out when I'm interviewing Holly inside the Octagon.
00:19:22.000 I'm going in there as a person who cares about Ronda.
00:19:25.000 It's tricky.
00:19:27.000 Because this is the biggest moment of Holly Holm's life, and I want to honor that.
00:19:31.000 And I want to go in there, and I am genuinely happy for her, while at the same time, genuinely sad for Rhonda.
00:19:38.000 But I can't acknowledge that.
00:19:42.000 I have to be happy for Holly.
00:19:45.000 And not only do I have to, when I'm interviewing someone inside the Octagon, I am trying my best to get them to express themselves.
00:19:54.000 I want Holly to say, I mean, this is the new bantamweight champion of the world, Holly Holm.
00:20:02.000 And she's got tears in her eyes, and her dad's there, and her husband's there, and Winkle John's there, and everybody's there, and it's this intense, intense moment, and I just want to get that out of her.
00:20:12.000 And while that was all happening, I was thinking to myself, what a good person she is.
00:20:17.000 Yeah.
00:20:18.000 Even though I love Rhonda and I care about Rhonda, what a good person Holly Holm is.
00:20:26.000 You can't help feel happy for her.
00:20:29.000 It's true.
00:20:29.000 It's the crazy thing about this business that we're in.
00:20:32.000 It's not just Holly and Rhonda.
00:20:34.000 It's every person that goes in there and competes in the Octagon.
00:20:39.000 Both have these fucking dreams of winning and glory and world titles and money and all the things that go along with it.
00:20:47.000 And then every fucking weekend when we do a show, one guy or girl moves forward and one guy or girl moves backward.
00:20:53.000 It's a crazy thing.
00:20:55.000 And Holly Holm and her father, her husband, and all the crew that was around her could not have been better people, could not have handled the whole situation.
00:21:07.000 It just...
00:21:08.000 I couldn't agree with you more.
00:21:10.000 Such very, very good people.
00:21:13.000 I went to the hospital last night and I had Joanna Yonjacek there, I had Valerie Letourneau there, and I had Ronda Rousey there.
00:21:22.000 And I'm walking from room to room going, Jesus Christ, this is a crazy business we're in, man.
00:21:27.000 You know, it's just so crazy.
00:21:29.000 These girls, you know, even Joanna...
00:21:33.000 As, you know, as dominant as she was last night, she was hurt.
00:21:37.000 She broke her hand, you know?
00:21:39.000 She broke her hand.
00:21:40.000 Valerie Letourneau was, oh my God.
00:21:42.000 Her eye was massive.
00:21:45.000 I'm serious.
00:21:46.000 It was the craziest thing that I've ever seen, her eye, last night.
00:21:50.000 It was so swollen by the end of the fight.
00:21:52.000 I can only imagine what it looked like in the hospital.
00:21:55.000 Joe, it was so bad.
00:21:57.000 So then, I'm like...
00:22:00.000 How's your leg?
00:22:01.000 She looks at me and she pulls the covers over and shows me her leg.
00:22:05.000 I've never seen anything like that.
00:22:08.000 I'm telling you, that poor little girl is banged up right now.
00:22:12.000 She took some hard, hard shots in her leg and really kept kicking with it, kept coming forward.
00:22:18.000 She is so fucking tough.
00:22:20.000 So tough.
00:22:20.000 So tough.
00:22:21.000 The women are tougher than the madman.
00:22:23.000 Women have fucking babies, for Christ's sakes.
00:22:25.000 They're way tougher than us.
00:22:27.000 Way tougher than the men.
00:22:29.000 Well, I'll tell you, I'm so impressed, first of all, with Letourneau's ability to rise to the occasion, too.
00:22:36.000 Because that was the best fight she ever fought in her life.
00:22:39.000 Or at least what I've seen in the Octagon.
00:22:42.000 And against Ioana, who's a fucking...
00:22:45.000 Killer.
00:22:45.000 She's so good.
00:22:46.000 At the UFC, we always believed in Valerie.
00:22:49.000 We thought Valerie was good.
00:22:50.000 Big, strong, 115-pounder for that division.
00:22:54.000 Now she's at least going to sit in the rankings where she belongs.
00:22:57.000 You know what I mean?
00:22:58.000 She wasn't ranked number eight.
00:22:59.000 She's better than that.
00:23:01.000 And she proved it last night.
00:23:03.000 Joanna's just a fucking monster.
00:23:06.000 She's so tough.
00:23:08.000 She's so tough.
00:23:09.000 And Tony's in love with her, by the way.
00:23:10.000 Yeah, I'm in love with Johanna.
00:23:12.000 If you're listening right now, Johanna, I love you.
00:23:16.000 Don't call it Johanna then.
00:23:18.000 Call it Joanna.
00:23:19.000 Joanna.
00:23:20.000 It's no H. There's no H. Everybody pronounces it differently, including her.
00:23:25.000 I've seen her in different interviews say her name six different ways.
00:23:31.000 People just start calling her Joanna Champion.
00:23:33.000 They're calling her Champion now.
00:23:34.000 They don't even want to fuck with Yonjecek.
00:23:36.000 It's like...
00:23:37.000 Try spelling it.
00:23:40.000 There's three people on the planet that can spell her last name.
00:23:42.000 How about she broke her hand?
00:23:44.000 And was throwing punches right up until the bell like she didn't have a broken hand.
00:23:49.000 She's awesome, man.
00:23:50.000 She's a beast.
00:23:51.000 She's a beast.
00:23:52.000 And she's arguably one of the most technical strikers in MMA today.
00:23:56.000 Without a doubt.
00:23:56.000 She's so good.
00:23:57.000 Without a doubt.
00:23:58.000 And then going back to the Holly-Ronda thing.
00:24:00.000 I mean, Holly and Ronda are the two best in the world.
00:24:04.000 And the 135 pound division.
00:24:06.000 Holly Holm fought the perfect fight last night, man.
00:24:11.000 As you sit and just think about it and run it through your head.
00:24:15.000 They fought the perfect fight.
00:24:16.000 And there was so much going on too.
00:24:18.000 Ronda didn't want to touch gloves with her.
00:24:20.000 All the animosity at the wings.
00:24:22.000 Lady Gaga came out today and said that's what happens when you don't touch gloves.
00:24:26.000 Lady Gaga should know because she's been fighting for years.
00:24:30.000 Yeah.
00:24:31.000 She's been crazy.
00:24:33.000 Fucking Donald Trump!
00:24:34.000 You know what's crazy?
00:24:36.000 That's how big this fight was.
00:24:38.000 When you really try to wrap your head around how big this fight was.
00:24:42.000 Donald Trump, who's running for president, tweeted a nasty tweet at Ronda.
00:24:46.000 Say the tweet.
00:24:47.000 He said, I'm glad Ronda Rousey lost last night.
00:24:53.000 She's not a good person.
00:24:54.000 So, Donald Trump apparently was pissed because he came out and said that Ronda was endorsing him for president, and then Ronda came out and said she was not.
00:25:04.000 Well, she said she was endorsing Bernie Sanders, didn't she?
00:25:07.000 Which is ridiculous, because she's rich, you know?
00:25:10.000 Ronda, Ronda, I love you, but Bernie Sanders is a lunatic socialist, man.
00:25:17.000 He's going to take your money, Ronda.
00:25:19.000 You've got too much money.
00:25:20.000 Go with Hillary.
00:25:23.000 Adam Hunter posted, Bernie Sanders will take 90% of our wins as soon as he's elected president.
00:25:29.000 He will too.
00:25:30.000 Yeah, he's got some ridiculous ideas about wealth.
00:25:33.000 But I just can't imagine Lady Gaga and Donald Trump tweeting about an MMA fight.
00:25:40.000 That's how big this fight was.
00:25:42.000 This fight broke every record we've ever had from the venue, To merchandise, to commercial pay-per-view, everything.
00:25:52.000 I mean everything.
00:25:53.000 The numbers that are rolling in are astronomical.
00:25:56.000 Holly Holm has, when we just took off, we took off at 12.30 in the afternoon on Sunday.
00:26:03.000 No, on Monday.
00:26:05.000 Right?
00:26:05.000 It's Monday.
00:26:06.000 We just took off at 12.30 in the afternoon on Monday in Australia, and Holly Holm was still trending worldwide, number one, and the NFL is going on right now.
00:26:15.000 And there were crazy games like Green Bay lost again.
00:26:19.000 The Patriots barely beat the Giants with his last-second field goal with six seconds left, and Brady drove down the field with a minute left.
00:26:28.000 Holly Holm is still number one trending worldwide.
00:26:31.000 Well, because it's so stunning.
00:26:32.000 Because you've seen football a million times.
00:26:35.000 When the ball goes across the line, everybody gets crazy.
00:26:38.000 But to see someone like Ronda Rousey, a movie star, you know, transcending the world of mixed martial arts, get fucking head kicked like that, and flatlined, and blood, and the hammer fist, like...
00:26:52.000 Whoa!
00:26:53.000 Just so stunning.
00:26:55.000 And when I think about Lady Gaga and Donald Trump, the first thing that I was thinking when we were talking about this was, you and I have been friends for a long time, and one of the first UFCs that I came to when we became friends was...
00:27:09.000 Right after September 11th in 2001, when Tito Ortiz fought Vladimir Matyushenko, and you guys went over the pay-per-view.
00:27:17.000 So what happened was there was a cut-off, a three-hour cut-off, and when the cut-off hit, the fight was still going on.
00:27:25.000 They had timed it wrong.
00:27:26.000 So you guys had to give a fuckload of money.
00:27:28.000 I wasn't even working for you back then.
00:27:30.000 I was just your friend.
00:27:31.000 We were hanging out, we were drinking, and you and Lorenzo and Frank were like, whoa.
00:27:36.000 You lost millions.
00:27:38.000 Millions.
00:27:39.000 Everybody was like...
00:27:40.000 That was a bad one.
00:27:41.000 Everybody was like, oh, fuck.
00:27:43.000 Palms to the face.
00:27:44.000 We went over the pay-per-view window.
00:27:45.000 So the pay-per-view shut off with two rounds left to the fight.
00:27:49.000 Yeah.
00:27:49.000 And so people wanted their money back.
00:27:52.000 And there was not that many pay-per-view buys back then, man.
00:27:56.000 It was so fringe.
00:27:58.000 And I felt a responsibility as a fan to try to support it.
00:28:04.000 But there was no social media back then.
00:28:06.000 There was nothing you could do to support it.
00:28:08.000 I mean, there was nothing I could do.
00:28:10.000 I'd talk about it in interviews.
00:28:12.000 You know, I'd go to the Howard Stern show and talk about it.
00:28:15.000 They would put him on these Fear Factor tours where he'd do these radio tours and he'd talk about UFC instead of Fear Factor.
00:28:23.000 Nobody even knew what it was.
00:28:25.000 It was so fringe back then.
00:28:27.000 But to go from that to, here we are in 2015, and a fucking guy who's running for president, Donald Trump, is tweeting about the results of the fight in a catty way.
00:28:40.000 Like, I'm glad she's not a good person.
00:28:42.000 Not only is he running, he's basically the frontrunner right now.
00:28:45.000 I think Ben Carson is for the Republican Party.
00:28:48.000 That guy doesn't have a chance.
00:28:49.000 He's a sleeper.
00:28:51.000 That guy can't even keep his eyes open when he's talking.
00:28:53.000 It's unbelievable.
00:28:57.000 Well, I don't know who has a chance.
00:28:59.000 I think they're both...
00:29:00.000 I think Jeb Bush is probably the more likely candidate.
00:29:03.000 It's like, wait for the dust to settle.
00:29:05.000 But just the fact that a guy running for president is addressing mixed martial arts, which, you know, you and I have both talked about that when we first got involved in it.
00:29:15.000 It was like talking about being involved in porn.
00:29:17.000 True.
00:29:18.000 It's crazy.
00:29:19.000 And...
00:29:21.000 Again, just last night was massive, man.
00:29:24.000 Last night was massive.
00:29:26.000 And all the people that were tweeting about the fight before the fight.
00:29:33.000 Ronda brings in this crowd of people that don't normally watch UFC. Yeah, definitely.
00:29:40.000 Well, John Wayne Parr, who is a 10-time world Muay Thai champion, he's a good buddy of mine, he was at the fight yesterday, and he brought his daughter.
00:29:47.000 His daughter's a huge Ronda Rousey fan, and his daughter was so conflicted after that fight was over because she's a kickboxer herself.
00:29:56.000 She loves kickboxing, so on one hand...
00:29:59.000 She's like 12 or something.
00:30:00.000 Yeah, she's 12. I think she's 12. She fights.
00:30:03.000 She fights.
00:30:04.000 She fights.
00:30:05.000 She's good.
00:30:05.000 I met her last night.
00:30:06.000 She's good.
00:30:06.000 Great kid.
00:30:07.000 It sort of felt bad because I was actually sitting right next to her and she kept going, come on Ronda, let's go Ronda.
00:30:12.000 And you know me, I'm not going to lie, I wanted to see history get made.
00:30:17.000 I like Ronda Rousey, I like villains, I like the bad guys, I like an ego.
00:30:22.000 I wanted to see history get made.
00:30:23.000 I was that close and I also know that it's good for Ronda and it's good for the UFC if Ronda finally has some competition.
00:30:30.000 And so I was cheering every time Holly landed a punch.
00:30:34.000 And when Holly landed that takedown, I launched out of my seat.
00:30:36.000 I couldn't help myself.
00:30:38.000 And I felt sort of bad because she kept, come on, Rhonda, come on, Rhonda.
00:30:41.000 But me, I selfishly just wanted to watch history get made.
00:30:44.000 And I couldn't believe it when it happened.
00:30:46.000 But I think it was great for her, this 12-year-old girl who loves fighting, to get to see that You can do anything.
00:30:52.000 You can accomplish anything with hard work.
00:30:55.000 And we got to hang out with the guy that trained Polly before this, and he said that...
00:31:00.000 Greg Jackson.
00:31:01.000 Yes.
00:31:01.000 Greg said that she trained so hard every day that, you know, she was almost in tears every day training hard.
00:31:08.000 And that makes me so happy because it just proves.
00:31:11.000 It sounds like hacky and redundant, but hard work really pays off.
00:31:16.000 Yes.
00:31:16.000 You put in the sweat and the tears, that's what it takes to get good at anything.
00:31:20.000 Anything.
00:31:21.000 So true.
00:31:22.000 And such a good point.
00:31:23.000 And one of the things Holly said that was cool at the press conference last night, one of the guys said, did you ever doubt that you could do this?
00:31:32.000 She goes, yeah, I doubt it.
00:31:33.000 She goes, there were days at the gym when I had a bad day and I'd just walk out and go in my car and cry for 15, 20 minutes thinking I can't do this.
00:31:41.000 You know what I mean?
00:31:42.000 I look terrible in there today.
00:31:43.000 If this is the way I'm going to fight, I'm not gonna win.
00:31:46.000 She goes, then I'd go home, I'd eat, I'd relax, and I'd go back at six and work on everything that I wasn't good at two hours earlier, until I got it right, you know?
00:31:56.000 And that goes with exactly what you're saying.
00:31:58.000 You could tell physically when she went into the Arctic, she was shredded.
00:32:02.000 She had a six-pack like I've never seen her have before.
00:32:05.000 I mean, she looked in incredible shape.
00:32:07.000 And she was also so poised.
00:32:09.000 Like, even though, obviously, she was under a tremendous amount of pressure, and the enormity of the moment, it didn't escape her.
00:32:15.000 But she was bouncing around.
00:32:17.000 She would pace and bounce.
00:32:19.000 Pace and bounce.
00:32:20.000 Pace and bounce.
00:32:21.000 I was watching her during Ronda's entire entrance, which is, you know, sitting that close is something that you don't really get to see on TV. But I had my camera, my eyes, focused directly on Holly the entire time Rhonda was coming out, and she was.
00:32:36.000 She was doing five steps, bounce, go the other way, five steps, bounce.
00:32:40.000 When she was getting her mouthpiece put in, when Rhonda was stepping in the octagon, Holly was nothing but focused.
00:32:50.000 100%, no distractions.
00:32:52.000 It was amazing to see.
00:32:54.000 It was a different kind of focus because it was a girl who's experienced that kind of intense pressure situation before, that world title pressure.
00:33:03.000 Like, when Betch Cohea was in Brazil and she was facing Ronda, she had this look on her face before that fight like she was about to go fight a werewolf with a butter knife.
00:33:12.000 You know, she was just like, oh, put on a brave face.
00:33:14.000 She almost knew she was going to get fucked up.
00:33:17.000 It was almost like the enormity of the moment was just like, ooh!
00:33:20.000 Like, you can't breathe.
00:33:21.000 Like, you ever take a shower, a cold shower, and you get...
00:33:24.000 You can't breathe.
00:33:26.000 That's how it looked.
00:33:27.000 Like, she was just overwhelmed.
00:33:29.000 That wasn't the case with Holly.
00:33:31.000 It wasn't the case at all.
00:33:32.000 She was...
00:33:33.000 She knew it was intense pressure.
00:33:35.000 She knew it was a big moment, but she was prepared for it.
00:33:39.000 Is anyone happy?
00:33:42.000 She's back again.
00:33:44.000 Should we do it now?
00:33:45.000 Oh, yeah.
00:33:45.000 All right.
00:33:45.000 We'll do this and we'll come back to this.
00:33:47.000 What are we at here?
00:33:49.000 We're at 33 minutes.
00:33:50.000 All right.
00:33:51.000 Listen, ladies and gentlemen, I know you're like, it's only 33 minutes.
00:33:54.000 How can it be the whole podcast?
00:33:55.000 We're going to eat.
00:33:56.000 We're going to have a little vino.
00:33:58.000 We've got a little Shiraz and we'll be back.
00:34:00.000 Maybe we'll even grab Greg Jackson from the cheap seats and bring him up here.
00:34:04.000 See you in a bit.
00:34:09.000 And we're back.
00:34:10.000 Round two, ladies and gentlemen.
00:34:11.000 I was just sitting there.
00:34:12.000 I was watching Birdman.
00:34:14.000 Goddamn, that's a good movie.
00:34:15.000 Great movie.
00:34:16.000 I gotta stop listening to Howard Stern.
00:34:18.000 He was saying it was boring.
00:34:19.000 That fucking movie's great.
00:34:20.000 I haven't seen it yet.
00:34:21.000 It's really good.
00:34:22.000 It's really good.
00:34:24.000 Howard was just jealous that somebody's successful with a bigger nose than he has.
00:34:30.000 Oh, I get it.
00:34:30.000 The bird?
00:34:31.000 Is that what you're saying?
00:34:32.000 Oh, okay.
00:34:33.000 I see where you're going.
00:34:34.000 We were just talking about whether or not people get pissed at the length of the podcast.
00:34:38.000 They don't.
00:34:39.000 I mean, they do, but they don't.
00:34:41.000 You know, it's like some people do, but that's...
00:34:44.000 The UFC, right?
00:34:45.000 I mean, some people get pissed at everything.
00:34:47.000 No doubt about it.
00:34:49.000 I think we're unique in this era.
00:34:52.000 And if you're putting out content, if you're putting out anything you're doing, in that there's too many people that have opinions.
00:34:59.000 Everybody can talk to you.
00:35:00.000 So it's hard to sample and get an accurate assessment of what's going on.
00:35:05.000 It's hard.
00:35:06.000 It's true.
00:35:06.000 We live in a world now where everybody gets to have an opinion.
00:35:09.000 Yeah.
00:35:10.000 How many times have you guys had to deal with people saying, oh, these fucking cards are watered down, and I'm tired of this fucking bullshit, and how is this guy still fighting?
00:35:22.000 You have to, you know, especially in this new world we're living, you have to be able to tune that shit out, man.
00:35:29.000 If I listen to the shit that...
00:35:31.000 You know, the media or some of the weirdos on social media said, this thing would be all fucked up.
00:35:38.000 Do you still fuck with people on social media?
00:35:39.000 Because you used to go back and forth and get angry at people.
00:35:41.000 I don't get angry.
00:35:43.000 When I'm on social media...
00:35:45.000 If I'm on there and I'm talking to people, trust me.
00:35:48.000 I'm having fun.
00:35:49.000 I'm not angry.
00:35:50.000 But you make fun of their face.
00:35:52.000 Me and a guy called Fatboy got into it today.
00:35:56.000 Today?
00:35:57.000 Yeah.
00:35:58.000 His name is Fatboy?
00:35:59.000 At like 4 in the morning, I called Fatboy.
00:36:02.000 I said, stick to what it looks like you're good at, eating.
00:36:06.000 Let me handle this.
00:36:08.000 What was his complaint?
00:36:11.000 He was saying that now that women are fighting in the UFC, I must be really desperate.
00:36:17.000 Like we're going out of business and I must be really desperate.
00:36:20.000 What's funny is, these people on social media, he says to me, you know, he's obviously ripping on the UFC, so I hit him back and I say, where have you been living under a rock?
00:36:35.000 You don't know who Ronda Rousey is.
00:36:37.000 You didn't know there was a Ronda Rousey-Holly Holm fight.
00:36:41.000 And he says, yeah, apparently a lot of people live under a rock.
00:36:44.000 Nobody watches the UFC anymore.
00:36:46.000 Nobody, you know, something like that.
00:36:49.000 I said, listen, why don't you stick to what it looks like you're good at, eating?
00:36:53.000 And leave the fighting up with me.
00:36:54.000 He comes back and says, I live in the same town.
00:36:57.000 You seem real tough over Twitter.
00:36:59.000 Why don't you come say that to me?
00:37:00.000 Yes, exactly.
00:37:01.000 I'm fluttering my eyes.
00:37:02.000 So I said, I'm easy to find, fat boy.
00:37:06.000 Come find me.
00:37:06.000 But I have fun with it.
00:37:09.000 I'm not serious and I'm not...
00:37:11.000 Listen, if you say stupid shit and I got some time, I'll play.
00:37:16.000 I'll go with you.
00:37:17.000 I'll do it.
00:37:17.000 It's fun for me.
00:37:18.000 I actually called Joe recently and asked Joe what he thought of roasts.
00:37:26.000 Do you like roasts?
00:37:28.000 And Joe...
00:37:30.000 Also very opinionated.
00:37:32.000 Does not like roasts at all.
00:37:34.000 And doesn't like the type of comedy, I guess.
00:37:40.000 The type of people that would roast somebody that they're friends with.
00:37:42.000 Well, I like to watch it, but I don't like to do it.
00:37:45.000 My personality, I'm very extreme.
00:37:50.000 Either I'll go to war with you, or I'll go to war for you.
00:37:55.000 Either I love you or I hate you.
00:37:57.000 I'm not ambivalent.
00:37:59.000 So if I love you, I don't want to mock you.
00:38:02.000 This motherfucker, this is the number one writer for roasts in the country.
00:38:05.000 You don't even know.
00:38:07.000 He's one of the main writers for all the Comedy Central roasts.
00:38:11.000 If you hear a good zinger on a Comedy Central roast that's absolutely brutal, most likely Tony Hinchcliffe wrote it.
00:38:18.000 But he's got that sense of humor.
00:38:21.000 My sense of humor is not like that.
00:38:22.000 I feel bad if I make fun of somebody I care about.
00:38:25.000 And if I don't care about you, I don't want to be on a show with you.
00:38:28.000 You know, if there was something like roasting Tony, if I had to roast Tony on something.
00:38:32.000 What is this, ma'am?
00:38:33.000 Cupcakes.
00:38:34.000 No, thank you.
00:38:34.000 It's our birthday, 95. Your birthday?
00:38:37.000 Not my 95th.
00:38:38.000 No.
00:38:38.000 Qantas' birthday.
00:38:39.000 Oh.
00:38:40.000 Yeah.
00:38:41.000 Qantas' 95th birthday.
00:38:41.000 I don't eat that.
00:38:42.000 That's how I keep my girl-less figure.
00:38:44.000 I'm good, too, honey.
00:38:45.000 Hollies.
00:38:46.000 For later.
00:38:47.000 What?
00:38:47.000 What is that?
00:38:48.000 Lollies.
00:38:49.000 Lollies?
00:38:49.000 What is a lolly?
00:38:50.000 That's not a lolly.
00:38:51.000 What is that?
00:38:52.000 It's a raspberry.
00:38:52.000 It's a raspberry lolly.
00:38:53.000 A lot?
00:38:54.000 But these are like gumdrops.
00:38:55.000 Yeah.
00:38:56.000 Well, they're different in Australia, aren't they?
00:38:57.000 Oh, you call them lollies.
00:38:58.000 Yeah.
00:38:59.000 Oh, we call lollipops.
00:39:00.000 Like, it has a stick.
00:39:01.000 Yeah.
00:39:02.000 Yeah.
00:39:02.000 I thought you said it was molly.
00:39:04.000 I was just trying to get his ecstasy'd up.
00:39:07.000 Birthday Qantas.
00:39:09.000 Look, you got 16 hours.
00:39:10.000 Don't be a pussy.
00:39:11.000 Any more mollies?
00:39:12.000 No.
00:39:13.000 Can I have a cup of coffee, though, please?
00:39:14.000 We can have time.
00:39:15.000 Just black.
00:39:16.000 Black?
00:39:16.000 Anyone else?
00:39:19.000 I'm a ball buster.
00:39:20.000 I like busting balls with my friends and guys.
00:39:23.000 Busting balls is good, but if I wanted to go like he goes, like Tony goes deep.
00:39:29.000 He writes soul-stealing shit.
00:39:33.000 He does.
00:39:33.000 He writes the best jokes for Rose.
00:39:35.000 He's just got this, he's got everybody's personalities.
00:39:38.000 We were talking about this last night.
00:39:40.000 He's like a guy, he doesn't do this on stage, but we're joking around and he'll say puns.
00:39:46.000 Like ridiculous play on word puns.
00:39:48.000 My brain doesn't work like that.
00:39:50.000 Yeah, you know, there's different comedic muscles.
00:39:52.000 There's, like, puns, there's roasting, there's staying in the pocket doing long bits, like what you do.
00:39:58.000 You know, you'll talk about the same topic for ten minutes.
00:40:00.000 There's, like, different muscles.
00:40:01.000 You know, like, I don't move around a lot on stage, which is something that I sort of wish I could do.
00:40:06.000 I can't do impressions like you can either.
00:40:08.000 You know, there's just different muscles and stuff.
00:40:10.000 It's sort of like...
00:40:12.000 You know, to use an analogy, it's sort of like UFC fighters.
00:40:15.000 Like, some people are good at some things, and sometimes the audience wants those certain things.
00:40:20.000 And you gotta know which muscle to use against your opponent if your opponent's that audience, that venue, whether it's in Australia or Sweden or LA, you know?
00:40:28.000 Yeah, when it comes to the roasting thing, I enjoy watching it.
00:40:33.000 There's a thing called Roast Battle that they do at the Comedy Store.
00:40:36.000 It's fucking hilarious.
00:40:38.000 They have two comics and they'll go back and forth.
00:40:41.000 One person will tell a joke and the other person will tell a joke and it's fucking brutal.
00:40:46.000 Like a rap battle for comedy?
00:40:48.000 Exactly.
00:40:48.000 That's very cool.
00:40:49.000 These motherfuckers, they steal years from each other's lives.
00:40:52.000 We've seen some who were like, oh my god, but you have to sit back and hold your head and you just feel the pain of the other person.
00:41:00.000 I can't do that.
00:41:02.000 I can't do that.
00:41:03.000 We're thinking about doing a roast on Fight Pass.
00:41:06.000 Roasting different people, yeah.
00:41:08.000 That's your guy.
00:41:09.000 Oh, that's your guy.
00:41:11.000 That's your guy.
00:41:12.000 I mean, literally, not with a second of hesitation, if you said, I need one guy to roast people, I'd say Tony Hinchcliffe.
00:41:20.000 Before you say, roast people, Tony Hinchcliffe.
00:41:24.000 Before you even got the word people out, I would say Tony.
00:41:26.000 There's a huge crossover there because obviously, you know, people, you know, the UFC and roasting is very close.
00:41:33.000 Closely related in the way that if you like watching people get slammed in real life, you'll love to see them get verbally slammed.
00:41:40.000 It all started because I'm from Youngstown, Ohio, a tough neighborhood, and I sort of defend the little guy.
00:41:44.000 So I defended myself with my words.
00:41:47.000 So it's all sort of in the same ballpark, you know.
00:41:49.000 Yeah, I'd love to help you out with the UFC, Rose.
00:41:52.000 That's easy for you.
00:41:53.000 He's your guy.
00:41:54.000 And Adam Hunter's good at that shit.
00:41:55.000 Yeah, I knew Adam would be.
00:41:57.000 He's great with MMA too because he knows so much about MMA. He's very knowledgeable.
00:42:02.000 I talk to Adam often.
00:42:05.000 So you're going to do something on Fight Pass?
00:42:07.000 We're talking about it now.
00:42:08.000 With fighters?
00:42:09.000 Tony's a perfect guy too because they won't feel like they need to beat his ass.
00:42:13.000 Exactly.
00:42:15.000 I don't know how many fighters could actually be roasted.
00:42:18.000 I think they'd have a hard time with it.
00:42:19.000 A lot can't.
00:42:20.000 A lot can't.
00:42:21.000 I know.
00:42:21.000 Dude, I can't tell you how many guys get mad at me where I point out situations that they're not necessarily the best at or skills that they may need to look into to get mad at me.
00:42:33.000 I agree.
00:42:34.000 So it's just an idea.
00:42:35.000 It might not even work, but I don't know how many fighters would actually want to be roasted.
00:42:40.000 It's I think a lot of them have a great sense of humor.
00:42:44.000 I think you'd be pretty surprised.
00:42:47.000 I think if they're from a different country, I bet Brazilians probably wouldn't want to get made fun of that much, just throwing it out there.
00:42:54.000 I think it all depends on the culture.
00:42:56.000 But a lot of Americans are into it.
00:43:00.000 I know that Brendan Shaw is obsessed with those things.
00:43:04.000 So many of those guys that I've met.
00:43:06.000 What you need to do before you have Cyborg, have her first fight in the UFC, have Tony Roaster.
00:43:14.000 Let's see if she still wants to be a part of the big show.
00:43:18.000 Yeah, that'd be amazing.
00:43:21.000 I don't even know where I'd begin.
00:43:24.000 Where would I start?
00:43:25.000 Her dick?
00:43:26.000 She's the only person that cuts weight by chopping off her dick.
00:43:32.000 Yeah, there'd be a lot of different angles if you could approach that.
00:43:36.000 I think it would be tough for a fighter to do a Rosh.
00:43:38.000 So, back to the Ronda Rousey, Holly Holm thing.
00:43:43.000 Obviously, you can't talk to Ronda right now because it's too soon, it's too intense, she's probably just in agony right now.
00:43:52.000 But how long do you wait before you think about scheduling a rematch?
00:43:59.000 Well, normally when fighters come off a fight like the Ronda fight, the Lawler-McDonald fight, you know, you don't even talk to them about fighting for the last Cormier fight with,
00:44:16.000 yeah, you just wait.
00:44:20.000 And probably a month.
00:44:24.000 In about a month you call and say, hey, what's going on?
00:44:27.000 What are you thinking?
00:44:28.000 How are you feeling?
00:44:29.000 Do you have lunch with her?
00:44:30.000 Are you going to call her on the phone?
00:44:32.000 Or do you want to do it in person?
00:44:34.000 The Ronda?
00:44:34.000 Yeah.
00:44:35.000 Yeah.
00:44:35.000 You know, after this thing, when Holly's going to be in a fucking whirlwind when she gets back, man.
00:44:41.000 She's going to be, you know, normally she'd probably just get home, would take some time off, hang out with her.
00:44:49.000 She's going to be on radio tours, television, She's going to have a lot of work to do.
00:44:56.000 Ronda will be able to go home and just chill out, relax for a while, get her head together, heal up a little bit.
00:45:03.000 And then, you know, I'll see her next week in person.
00:45:09.000 And then we won't talk about fighting.
00:45:13.000 You won't talk about fighting next week?
00:45:15.000 No.
00:45:15.000 You don't think she'll want to talk about it immediately?
00:45:17.000 No.
00:45:17.000 No?
00:45:18.000 If she does, that's cool.
00:45:20.000 If she wants to talk, we can talk, but I won't talk to her about it.
00:45:23.000 I'll give her a month.
00:45:24.000 What will you talk about when you say, hey, Divya?
00:45:27.000 How about the weather?
00:45:28.000 Just hang out.
00:45:29.000 Have lunch with her.
00:45:30.000 Hang out with her.
00:45:30.000 See how she's feeling.
00:45:31.000 See how she's doing.
00:45:32.000 You know.
00:45:35.000 Yeah.
00:45:36.000 Your job is very weird, man, because your job is, you're not just a promoter.
00:45:40.000 In a lot of ways, like, you have to be almost like a counselor or like a psychologist, in a way.
00:45:46.000 I deal with so many different egos and personalities and quirky, you know, yeah, without a doubt, personal problems.
00:45:59.000 Business problems.
00:46:00.000 You know, a lot of stuff.
00:46:02.000 We deal with a lot of stuff with the fighters.
00:46:04.000 Go back to that, what we were talking about earlier, that 2001, Vladimir Matyushenko, Tito Ortiz fight.
00:46:10.000 That was when you guys were first started.
00:46:14.000 Did you ever imagine that you would have this kind of role now?
00:46:18.000 What did you see the role of a promoter being?
00:46:21.000 Because you're not just a promoter.
00:46:23.000 You're a promoter in a very weird way.
00:46:25.000 Because you're a promoter, but you're also the main personality behind the UFC. When I checked into the hotel yesterday, they called me Mr. White.
00:46:33.000 I'm like, we're both bald, but I'm not Mr. White.
00:46:36.000 You know what I'm saying?
00:46:37.000 They say, oh, this fighter-looking guy is coming in here.
00:46:39.000 It must be Mr. White.
00:46:40.000 I see shit on social media where it says you and I are turning into each other.
00:46:45.000 Which is fucking funny.
00:46:47.000 It's true, in a way.
00:46:49.000 Yeah, you know what, when you think of the term promoter, most promoters are fucking, have a secretary and a fax machine.
00:46:57.000 Right.
00:46:57.000 Seriously, there's no infrastructure there.
00:46:59.000 There's no, we're so different, because not only do we have 500 fighters under contract, we have 300 and something employees, too.
00:47:07.000 Yeah.
00:47:08.000 We have employees, you know, In a weird way, we're more like a media company, yet we promote fights.
00:47:16.000 It's really morphed into this weird thing, but a lot of the stuff, a lot of the things, and the growing pains of building this business, the relationships that you have to have with a lot of these guys, you know?
00:47:33.000 There's some guys on the undercards that I've never even met before, and then there's people that I'm really, really close to, and you were saying it earlier.
00:47:44.000 You learn to care about these people.
00:47:48.000 Know people that are involved in their lives and you become close.
00:47:53.000 You see them lose.
00:47:56.000 And then there's so many times that two people go in and care about both of them and somebody's going to win or lose that night.
00:48:06.000 There's some fights that I don't even want to watch.
00:48:09.000 It's like, shit, I don't even want to watch this fight.
00:48:12.000 One of these good people are going to have to lose.
00:48:15.000 Yeah, and there's no way around it.
00:48:17.000 There's no way around it.
00:48:18.000 And then there's times when I'm like, you know, it's the complete opposite, too.
00:48:21.000 I mean, let's be honest, where I don't have a great relationship with a guy, you know?
00:48:27.000 You know, there's a parallel between you and me, too, in that there really wasn't a you before you, and there really wasn't that many people doing commentary before me.
00:48:39.000 Like, you're not like a normal promoter in the sense that...
00:48:44.000 I mean, you have Don King, who's like, only in America, but it's all...
00:48:48.000 You know, it's mostly showmanship and bullshit and...
00:48:53.000 You just somehow or another figured out how to just be Dana White.
00:48:59.000 Do you remember some sort of a conscious decision to not put on some sort of fake professional attitude?
00:49:07.000 Or is that just not in you at all?
00:49:10.000 Yeah, you know, I don't know.
00:49:12.000 You're you.
00:49:13.000 You're the you I knew before you were famous.
00:49:16.000 You're the same dude.
00:49:17.000 Thanks, man.
00:49:18.000 What we...
00:49:21.000 I don't know man, I don't know really how to explain it, but I just go in there and we put on fights and we, you know, we try to put on the best fights.
00:49:35.000 That are available with the best talent that we have.
00:49:37.000 For instance, I believed that the Ronda Rousey-Holly Holm fight was the fight.
00:49:42.000 But you get all these fucking conspiracy weirdos that start talking about...
00:49:48.000 All anybody wants to say is, Oh, I want to see Dana White's face after Holly Holm beat her.
00:49:52.000 And I want to see what he...
00:49:54.000 Two women are going in there.
00:49:56.000 Rhonda and Holly are going in there.
00:49:58.000 Somebody's going to win and somebody's going to lose.
00:50:01.000 I mean, anybody that's stupid enough to fucking think that I think, you know, somebody could win forever or somebody else couldn't win is ridiculous.
00:50:10.000 Or that Rhonda hasn't fought the best competition available.
00:50:14.000 Rhonda's fought all the best girls in the world at 135 pounds.
00:50:17.000 We brought Holly home in.
00:50:21.000 Make the wait.
00:50:23.000 Make the wait.
00:50:26.000 Cyborg has had every opportunity for this fight.
00:50:28.000 All she's had to do is make the wait.
00:50:30.000 She hasn't tried.
00:50:32.000 With that much money on the line and all the things that are going on, look at last night's event.
00:50:37.000 Holly Holm stepped up and took the opportunity and won.
00:50:42.000 She won the fucking fight.
00:50:44.000 The opportunity was there for her.
00:50:46.000 The opportunity has been there for Cyborg this whole time.
00:50:50.000 Gurren Tito got out there and said all that crazy shit that they said and she'd die if she made weight and all that stuff that was going on.
00:50:56.000 What, was Ronda supposed to go to 145 or fight her at a catch weight?
00:51:00.000 For what?
00:51:00.000 Ronda's the 135 pound champion.
00:51:02.000 Like it or not, that's her weight division and that's where she fights.
00:51:07.000 There's plenty of women there.
00:51:08.000 And I felt like going into this next fight, I saw the Misha Tate fight twice.
00:51:13.000 Saw that fight.
00:51:14.000 Now that fight ends.
00:51:16.000 And yes, we did set that fight up as a contender fight.
00:51:21.000 You know what I mean?
00:51:22.000 But I felt like that wasn't the best fight.
00:51:25.000 That wasn't the best fight I felt.
00:51:27.000 We brought Holly Holman to fight Ronda Rousey.
00:51:29.000 And I felt like that was the best fight to put on.
00:51:32.000 We're literally in a fucking...
00:51:34.000 Meeting room.
00:51:35.000 We sit in this boardroom all day.
00:51:36.000 And I'm like, we gotta make this Holly Holm fight, man.
00:51:39.000 This is the fight.
00:51:40.000 You're gonna ask Lorenzo.
00:51:41.000 It's exactly the way it went down.
00:51:42.000 This is the fucking girl.
00:51:44.000 This is the next big challenge for Ronda.
00:51:47.000 This girl's fucking tall.
00:51:48.000 She's got the height and read advantage.
00:51:50.000 She fucking kicks, you know, she stays on the outside.
00:51:54.000 Ronda's never faced anybody like that.
00:51:55.000 This is the fight to make.
00:51:57.000 Not to mention the fact that she's undefeated and she's got legit boxing credentials.
00:52:02.000 This is the fight.
00:52:04.000 And we did it.
00:52:05.000 Obviously.
00:52:06.000 Yeah.
00:52:06.000 I mean, right now, it's kind of funny because we're in a plane.
00:52:10.000 We're flying over the ocean.
00:52:11.000 And when we land, the buzz just has kind of started.
00:52:17.000 I mean, it exploded, but it's almost like a tidal wave.
00:52:20.000 And that tidal wave is just going to reach all across social media and all across...
00:52:39.000 Sure.
00:52:41.000 Sure.
00:52:43.000 Sure.
00:52:48.000 I've been doing this for 15 years, man, and let me tell you what, anybody can beat anybody on any given day, you know?
00:52:55.000 Even reporters and fans, and even you, when this fight was first announced.
00:53:01.000 Kevin Alley's like, I'm not flying over there for a 15 second fight.
00:53:04.000 It'll be over in 15 seconds.
00:53:07.000 Freddie Roach said it.
00:53:09.000 A lot of people said it.
00:53:09.000 Well, I didn't think that Holly was going to get destroyed, but I thought that Amanda Nunez was a more dangerous fight based on her performance against Sarah McMahon.
00:53:17.000 Because she smashed Sarah McMahon, knocked her down, beat her up.
00:53:19.000 And I know she had beaten up Kat Zingano in the first round, although she got stopped later in the round.
00:53:24.000 I think Kat Zingano is still dangerous as fuck.
00:53:27.000 She just made a big rookie mistake.
00:53:29.000 She just charged, got caught in a scramble, and, you know, Ronda is so nasty at catching those arm bars.
00:53:36.000 And even in this fight, she had been tagged with all those fucking straight lefts, she had been rocked, and she still, when they went to the ground, she was immediately threatening with an arm bar.
00:53:46.000 She still has the best arm bar technique in MMA. There was one part for a second where she caught her arm standing and grabbed it like a crocodile.
00:53:55.000 I don't know what she was going to do with it, but she fucking had it.
00:53:58.000 Well, she tried to take her down with it.
00:54:00.000 She just had it.
00:54:04.000 Polly just kept fighting.
00:54:05.000 She got defensive.
00:54:07.000 She just kept rolling out of it.
00:54:08.000 Well, I think this is a pivotal time for Rhonda because she's a huge superstar.
00:54:15.000 She's a huge movie star.
00:54:16.000 She's a huge celebrity, but...
00:54:19.000 What got her to that position is being a great fighter.
00:54:24.000 And there's a balance there somewhere.
00:54:26.000 And you gotta find out where's the balance.
00:54:28.000 Is the balance spending all this time working on movies and all this other shit?
00:54:33.000 Or is the balance going back to fucking Rocky IV? Going to that cabin in the woods and going running up the hills of the snow and focusing on just fighting.
00:54:56.000 She doesn't.
00:54:58.000 She doesn't, right?
00:54:59.000 So she has to decide what she wants to do.
00:55:02.000 Does she want to figure out what went wrong?
00:55:06.000 Figure out what she could have done better?
00:55:08.000 Get back to the drawing board?
00:55:10.000 Maybe work with some new coaches that are going to work with her on kicks and distancing, on footwork, or...
00:55:15.000 Maybe figure out some other ways to try to get Holly down other than the collar tie and clenching.
00:55:20.000 I mean...
00:55:20.000 She's the mentally strongest fucking athlete I've ever met in my life.
00:55:24.000 When she gets over this loss, she's gonna be a savage, man.
00:55:30.000 I mean, she was a maniac and a hard worker when she was the best in the world.
00:55:34.000 What's she gonna be like now that she lost?
00:55:36.000 And the thing that makes this fight great again is Holly Holm.
00:55:40.000 Now everybody knows how talented Holly Holm is.
00:55:44.000 And that Holly Holm is legit.
00:55:46.000 And Holly Holm is a workhorse too.
00:55:48.000 Both of these two are going to take the next few months, go back in, start working on shit, and they're going to clash again.
00:55:55.000 And their second fight will be fucking awesome.
00:55:59.000 Does Ronda have a broken jaw?
00:56:01.000 Because social media was reporting.
00:56:02.000 No, no, no.
00:56:02.000 That's bullshit.
00:56:03.000 There's nothing wrong with Ronda.
00:56:04.000 Ronda...
00:56:06.000 Well, there's definitely something wrong with her.
00:56:07.000 Well, no.
00:56:08.000 I mean, she's concussed.
00:56:09.000 She's hurt.
00:56:09.000 She had a huge fucking cut in her lip.
00:56:13.000 Her lip was split open.
00:56:14.000 And I was there, and I was like, you know what?
00:56:19.000 We don't want a doctor sewing that fucking lip up.
00:56:21.000 What's her lip going to look like if a doctor sewed?
00:56:23.000 We brought in the best plastic surgeon from Australia last night.
00:56:27.000 He came in late last night and sewed her lip up, and her lip looks...
00:56:31.000 Awesome today.
00:56:33.000 When they do that, do they do interior stitches?
00:56:35.000 Yeah, they sew it from the inside out.
00:56:38.000 And plastic surgeons are just so much better than doctors.
00:56:41.000 I'll give you an example here.
00:56:42.000 It's something fucking crazy.
00:56:44.000 At the last fight, when we were at the Cormier fight, Cormier Gustafsson, sitting there, my phone starts fucking ringing during the fight.
00:56:53.000 And it's my sister-in-law.
00:56:57.000 So I pick up the phone during the fight and My wife is on the phone going fucking crazy.
00:57:04.000 So we have an English Mastiff, two-year-old English Mastiff, who jumped on my daughter and ripped her ear off her head.
00:57:14.000 In my house.
00:57:15.000 How did he do it?
00:57:17.000 He fucking just jumped at her.
00:57:18.000 His paw hit it?
00:57:19.000 No.
00:57:20.000 Teeth.
00:57:20.000 What?
00:57:21.000 Ripped her ear in half this way and then off the head.
00:57:25.000 So it was hanging by the thing here, like by the bottom of the ear.
00:57:31.000 And how old is your daughter?
00:57:33.000 My daughter is nine.
00:57:34.000 Oh my god.
00:57:35.000 Yeah.
00:57:36.000 Nine years old.
00:57:37.000 Fucking dog rips her ear off during the Cormier-Gustafsson fight.
00:57:42.000 My wife is hysterical, can't even understand a word she's saying, so I have to calm her down.
00:57:48.000 What the fuck is going on?
00:57:49.000 Tell me what's happening.
00:57:50.000 She tells me.
00:57:51.000 I said, okay.
00:57:52.000 I grab Doc D, one of the doctors for the UFC. He gets on the phone.
00:57:58.000 He calls Las Vegas.
00:57:59.000 The first thing he did, he's trying to set up a doctor.
00:58:01.000 I said, I don't want a doctor.
00:58:02.000 I want a plastic surgeon.
00:58:04.000 Get me a plastic surgeon.
00:58:05.000 He calls in this plastic surgeon.
00:58:07.000 They go to the hospital.
00:58:10.000 They had to wait like an hour and a half.
00:58:12.000 So you can imagine.
00:58:14.000 They're freaking out.
00:58:15.000 They've got to wait an hour and a half because they're waiting for the plastic.
00:58:17.000 But the plastic surgeon came and put her ear back on and then fixed the ear this way, sewed it back together.
00:58:24.000 My daughter's ear looks unbelievable.
00:58:26.000 Because you can't have a doctor do that kind of shit, because if you have a doctor do it, all he cares about is getting the fucking ear back on, not how it looks.
00:58:34.000 But cosmetically, it's like a doctor will come in and stitch Rhonda's lip, but then Rhonda's lip is gonna look weird.
00:58:40.000 So when we do fights in Vegas, There's a doctor named Dr. Hsu.
00:58:45.000 I don't know if you've ever met Dr. Hsu.
00:58:47.000 He's a tall Asian guy with glasses.
00:58:49.000 He is the man when it comes to...
00:58:52.000 He sews up these cuts because, as you know, in fighting, cuts are a big problem.
00:58:58.000 They have to be sewn up the right way, not only cosmetically, but if you're going to continue to fight, you have to sew them up so that they don't rip open all the time and get a lot of...
00:59:07.000 Scar tissue under there and things like that.
00:59:09.000 So we're very, very careful and stuff like that.
00:59:12.000 But if anything traumatic ever happens to your kids or your wife, you're looking for a plastic surgeon, not a doctor.
00:59:16.000 What the fuck did you do to that dog?
00:59:18.000 Did you kill that dog?
00:59:19.000 Dog's gone.
00:59:20.000 Dog bit your daughter's ear.
00:59:22.000 Dog's gone, yeah.
00:59:23.000 I ought to kill that dog myself.
00:59:25.000 I know.
00:59:26.000 It's great.
00:59:26.000 What the fuck, man?
00:59:28.000 It's great.
00:59:29.000 I have a Mastiff, too.
00:59:30.000 But he's the sweetest dog in the world.
00:59:32.000 My dog would never do anything.
00:59:33.000 You know, my daughter had like an ice cream cone and the dog...
00:59:36.000 Wanted that ice cream?
00:59:37.000 I was trying to get the ice cream cone, and my daughter said no.
00:59:40.000 And the dog just freaked out, man.
00:59:42.000 At the end of the day, even though it's a dog, it's a fucking wild animal, and they're just, they're fucking nuts with food.
00:59:48.000 You know, when you have food there, you can feed your dog, feed your dog until he's full.
00:59:53.000 And then you're sitting there eating food, and the dog is like, look, you know, he wants some more food.
00:59:58.000 Wow.
00:59:58.000 Oh, look at this.
00:59:59.000 Oh, hello, fellas.
01:00:01.000 We're doing a podcast right now.
01:00:03.000 A bunch of...
01:00:03.000 Sorry to interrupt you.
01:00:04.000 Sorry.
01:00:05.000 Apologies.
01:00:06.000 You guys circle jerking?
01:00:08.000 You guys hanging out?
01:00:09.000 Just one way.
01:00:12.000 Good luck with that.
01:00:13.000 This plane is so badass that it has two different levels.
01:00:17.000 There's 500 people on this plane, 1,100 bags, and there's actually a lounge upstairs where people can hang out in the lounge.
01:00:25.000 Yeah, there's like a little bar area.
01:00:27.000 Yeah.
01:00:27.000 These Qantas flights are fucking ridiculous.
01:00:29.000 Yeah, we're in a...
01:00:30.000 This is the first podcast, by the way, that's ever been done in an actual pod.
01:00:35.000 Yeah, we're in a pod.
01:00:36.000 We're in a pod.
01:00:37.000 That's right.
01:00:38.000 This is a podcast.
01:00:39.000 This is history right now.
01:00:40.000 It might be, right?
01:00:41.000 Yeah.
01:00:42.000 Yeah.
01:00:43.000 Everybody else just does it in a room.
01:00:45.000 This is not a room.
01:00:46.000 Well, how did it become?
01:00:47.000 It's from iPods, right?
01:00:48.000 I guess.
01:00:49.000 Yeah.
01:00:50.000 That's the name, right?
01:00:50.000 Yeah.
01:00:51.000 Yeah.
01:00:52.000 Wow.
01:00:53.000 Apple knows how to get their branding in everywhere.
01:00:55.000 Well, Chuck Liddell had that crazy cut in his lip after the Rich Franklin fight, and now you can't even notice it.
01:01:01.000 Yep.
01:01:01.000 What's even crazier is Robbie Lawler.
01:01:04.000 Oh, yeah.
01:01:05.000 We had Robbie Lawler's done with a plastic surgeon, too.
01:01:08.000 And actually, the Jessica Penne fight, when she fought Ioana Jacek, see her nose?
01:01:13.000 We flew her straight to L.A., and she went and saw the best plastic surgeon in L.A., and we got her nose fixed.
01:01:19.000 So, everybody, next time you see Jessica Penne, you'll notice that her nose looks phenomenal.
01:01:25.000 You look at that gash and what that looked like.
01:01:27.000 If we sent her to a doctor, She'd look horrible right now.
01:01:31.000 A doctor would have stitched or stapled that thing together, and she would look terrible.
01:01:36.000 We sent her to the best plastic surgeon in LA, and she looks phenomenal.
01:01:40.000 That's amazing, by the way.
01:01:41.000 I remember her nose after that fight.
01:01:43.000 I've seen snowmen with better noses than any time.
01:01:46.000 You son of a bitch.
01:01:47.000 You had one ready.
01:01:48.000 You had one ready.
01:01:49.000 Yeah.
01:01:51.000 You have to.
01:01:51.000 You know who Kevin Ross is?
01:01:53.000 A Muay Thai fighter from America.
01:01:55.000 Great fighter.
01:01:56.000 Fights for a lion fight.
01:01:57.000 He was talking about how he got hit with some elbows in one of his fights in Vegas.
01:02:03.000 And the doctor used staples.
01:02:06.000 And the doctor was so shitty, he actually stapled...
01:02:09.000 It was in the crease of the actual cut.
01:02:12.000 Instead of pinching the cut together, the staple went in the hole.
01:02:16.000 He was like, this fucking guy was blind or drunk.
01:02:18.000 No, what people don't realize is when you go to a doctor, a doctor is not worried about how you're going to look after.
01:02:26.000 It's about healing whatever is right.
01:02:29.000 I got to close this hole.
01:02:30.000 I have to fix this thing.
01:02:33.000 He's not an artist.
01:02:33.000 He's not an artist, exactly.
01:02:35.000 So when you go to see these doctors and they give you stitches, you are going to have a nasty scar.
01:02:40.000 Fact.
01:02:41.000 I don't care who your doctor is.
01:02:43.000 That's a fact.
01:02:43.000 That's the way it goes.
01:02:44.000 When they do that, though, can they fix that?
01:02:46.000 Can they cut that scar and redo it with a really good doctor?
01:02:49.000 Probably, but for a girl like Jessica Pan, it would cost her a ton of money to go do it later and all this stuff.
01:02:54.000 Fuck that.
01:02:55.000 Let's just get it fixed now.
01:02:55.000 And it might not even work because there's going to be all that scar tissue and healing from the first sutures and you'd have to cut that out maybe.
01:03:03.000 I don't know.
01:03:03.000 I'm just making shit up.
01:03:05.000 Exactly.
01:03:05.000 Listen, there's a completely different...
01:03:12.000 We're good to go.
01:03:39.000 Got the best plastic surgeon in Australia.
01:03:42.000 Not in Melbourne.
01:03:43.000 We got the best guy in Australia.
01:03:45.000 You know, so...
01:03:47.000 We're pretty big on the medical side with the fighters.
01:03:50.000 Yeah, I mean, it's got to be an incredibly difficult job to do to stitch up a cut like that and make sure that it heals in a nice, thin, clean line like that.
01:04:03.000 You know, my friend John Wayne Parr, he was at the fights last night.
01:04:07.000 He's a 10-time world Muay Thai champion.
01:04:09.000 He's an Australian guy.
01:04:10.000 He's had more than 300 stitches in his face.
01:04:15.000 In his face.
01:04:16.000 That's crazy, yeah.
01:04:18.000 What's that?
01:04:19.000 Chocolates?
01:04:20.000 No, thank you.
01:04:22.000 Yeah, thank you very much.
01:04:25.000 Thank you.
01:04:27.000 You're offering us all this stuff.
01:04:29.000 We want you to hear what it's like in first class, people.
01:04:32.000 Just give you a little taste.
01:04:34.000 Lollies?
01:04:34.000 No.
01:04:35.000 Chocolate?
01:04:36.000 No.
01:04:37.000 No job.
01:04:38.000 Anything at all I can get for you.
01:04:39.000 Coffee?
01:04:41.000 Yeah.
01:04:44.000 Is there a blow jump thing going on?
01:04:46.000 Oh, they didn't offer you that?
01:04:48.000 It was the guy though, right?
01:04:49.000 Yeah, it was the guy.
01:04:50.000 His name's John.
01:04:51.000 It was amazing, by the way.
01:04:52.000 I've had two.
01:04:55.000 I've had two.
01:05:00.000 It's really incredible though, like what you do, it's amazing.
01:05:05.000 I grew up, and Joe's about to kill me, I grew up a huge pro wrestling fan, and there's something about what Vince McMahon has been able to accomplish with the crazy circus that he's running and turn it into a huge company with tons of fans that watch every week.
01:05:21.000 Even though it's all fake.
01:05:22.000 And you've been able to...
01:05:24.000 I like how you said it's all fake.
01:05:25.000 A real life, because I've always...
01:05:26.000 Fake, right?
01:05:27.000 It's fake?
01:05:27.000 I've always admitted that on your show, Jim.
01:05:29.000 What is it?
01:05:30.000 You're the only one that keeps making it look...
01:05:32.000 What is it?
01:05:32.000 It's fake.
01:05:33.000 Still fake.
01:05:34.000 Always has been.
01:05:34.000 It's all bullshit, right?
01:05:35.000 Right.
01:05:36.000 Just like your Game of Thrones.
01:05:37.000 Exactly.
01:05:37.000 No!
01:05:39.000 But it's amazing to me that you have been able to accomplish that with reality.
01:05:47.000 Everything he did, he wrote it out himself and wrote scripts.
01:05:52.000 They have 20, 30 writers that he pays six figures a year, big time, more than six regular, middle six figures a year they all get paid to write that stuff every week.
01:06:06.000 And you have been able to grow this thing And I guess that's really like, it's mind-blowing.
01:06:13.000 You get those writers all day.
01:06:16.000 They're never going to do what Conor McGregor can do just on instinct.
01:06:19.000 I have this thing that reality is better than any script you could ever write.
01:06:22.000 And that's the reason the UFC, it's so real and it's so, like last night, man.
01:06:28.000 You put on the fight with the best fighters in the world and reality is going to happen, man.
01:06:33.000 And when you see it, it goes fucking global and electric.
01:06:38.000 Like it did last night, man.
01:06:40.000 Even Triple H. Your boy Triple H hit me up last night and said, wow.
01:06:44.000 He goes, what a show and what a shocker.
01:06:48.000 That's what Triple H hit me with last night.
01:06:51.000 When you do have that reality and it goes off like it went off last night, it's bigger than anything you could ever write.
01:06:58.000 And what it does is it makes it so that you never know what's going to happen.
01:07:03.000 Now people have to watch every fight because people can hate and people can say that they knew that home was going to win.
01:07:10.000 That's the biggest, huge, bigger, it's bigger than this plane, the amount of bullshit that is.
01:07:15.000 True.
01:07:15.000 Nobody knew that was going to go down like that.
01:07:17.000 Even the people who bet on Holly and had all that shit last night, there's one reason and one reason only that they bet on Holly.
01:07:24.000 Because of the odds.
01:07:25.000 The odds were so big, why not take a shot?
01:07:28.000 Or they were her family.
01:07:32.000 Or a family or a friend.
01:07:34.000 Hello.
01:07:34.000 Hello.
01:07:35.000 Sorry to interrupt.
01:07:36.000 Would you like to go up to the business class?
01:07:37.000 Go to lounge upstairs?
01:07:38.000 Would that be more comfortable?
01:07:39.000 No, we're good.
01:07:40.000 We're good.
01:07:41.000 Okay, but if the seatbelt sign goes on, you're going to be in trouble.
01:07:44.000 No, he's a ninja.
01:07:45.000 He's an acrobat.
01:07:46.000 You can flip backwards?
01:07:48.000 Yeah.
01:07:49.000 Oh, okay.
01:07:50.000 But these are all my people here.
01:07:51.000 I know.
01:07:52.000 Yeah, we're good.
01:07:53.000 So you can do the backflip?
01:07:54.000 Totally.
01:07:54.000 Yep.
01:07:56.000 I just thought I'd offer you the lounge if you wanted.
01:07:57.000 No, no, we're good.
01:07:58.000 But thank you, though.
01:07:59.000 Thank you.
01:08:01.000 It's so nice here.
01:08:03.000 That was a polite strong-arm.
01:08:05.000 She was trying to strong-arm us up to the lounge.
01:08:08.000 And Joe shut her down.
01:08:11.000 Was that a strong-arm?
01:08:11.000 No, we wouldn't like to go to the lounge.
01:08:12.000 You think that was?
01:08:13.000 Baited.
01:08:14.000 Oh yeah, she was definitely...
01:08:15.000 That was her polite way of saying, you guys should go up to the lounge.
01:08:17.000 People want to sleep now.
01:08:19.000 Is that what it is?
01:08:19.000 Sleep?
01:08:20.000 Yeah.
01:08:21.000 Really?
01:08:21.000 Isn't it like 10 in the morning or something?
01:08:23.000 What fucking time is it?
01:08:24.000 Yeah, but we're landing at 6 in the morning.
01:08:26.000 Right, but what time is it?
01:08:27.000 It's...
01:08:28.000 What time is it in L.A.? Well, it's only 3 p.m.
01:08:32.000 in Australia.
01:08:32.000 Right.
01:08:33.000 Okay?
01:08:33.000 If people want to go to sleep, that's their fucking problem.
01:08:36.000 Oh, so that means that would be the middle of the night in Vegas.
01:08:39.000 In L.A., it is 8.20.
01:08:42.000 It's 8.20 L.A. and 3.20 p.m.
01:08:45.000 in Australia.
01:08:46.000 I haven't been able to sleep since I got here.
01:08:48.000 I'm so confused.
01:08:50.000 I sleep like three hours.
01:08:51.000 I wake up.
01:08:51.000 I got a beautiful sleeping pill for you, pal, if you want to take it.
01:08:55.000 I don't take them.
01:08:56.000 I don't take sleeping pills, man.
01:08:58.000 I don't take them.
01:08:59.000 The only one you don't do is sleeping pills?
01:09:01.000 Yeah, I don't fucking...
01:09:02.000 I want to be able to wake up.
01:09:06.000 I don't like it.
01:09:06.000 I was in a hotel fire in San Francisco in the middle of the night.
01:09:11.000 It actually wasn't a fire.
01:09:13.000 Some people had set off the fire extinguishers and it filled the room up with that smoke, you know, that fog that those fire extinguishers create.
01:09:22.000 And it was 4.30 in the morning.
01:09:23.000 These alarms went off.
01:09:24.000 Wah, wah, wah.
01:09:26.000 I got up, didn't know what the fuck was going on.
01:09:28.000 I'm trying to shut my alarm clock off.
01:09:30.000 You had a sleeping pill?
01:09:30.000 No.
01:09:31.000 No, I didn't.
01:09:31.000 But all the people that were in the fucking hotel had sleeping pills.
01:09:34.000 And it was in San Francisco and they had this narrow staircase.
01:09:37.000 And it's really hard to get down the staircase.
01:09:39.000 It's like really narrow.
01:09:40.000 And these people were walking.
01:09:43.000 Like, real slow down the stairs.
01:09:45.000 And half of them were fucking sleeping.
01:09:47.000 They were, like, waking up as they were walking.
01:09:49.000 They were all whacked out on sleeping pills.
01:09:51.000 Because a lot of people, when they stay in hotels or when they travel, they'll take a sleeping pill.
01:09:55.000 And it was dangerous.
01:09:57.000 It was dangerous to the point where I was ready to start a fucking stampede.
01:09:59.000 I was like, like, why are you fuckers not running?
01:10:03.000 Like, there's an alarm going off, an announcement saying the building's on fire, and you people are strolling down the stairs, and half of them look like zombies.
01:10:11.000 And, um...
01:10:13.000 I've had some friends that have done some shit when they were on sleeping pills, like Kevin James.
01:10:18.000 Kevin James takes sleeping pills to cook himself dinner and doesn't realize he cooked dinner and wake up in the morning like, what the fuck is this?
01:10:24.000 And then someone has to tell him that he cooked it.
01:10:27.000 I'm not down with that.
01:10:28.000 I've seen some crazy shit too with sleeping pills, man.
01:10:31.000 What's funny, I took one.
01:10:32.000 Remember I told you on the way here, I took one when I saw you.
01:10:34.000 I said, hey, a sleeping pill.
01:10:35.000 I woke up, my throat was so fucking sore.
01:10:37.000 I don't know if I was snoring like a beast or...
01:10:40.000 What happened to you?
01:10:42.000 I don't know.
01:10:43.000 I usually don't have a problem with sleeping.
01:10:45.000 I figure if I'm not awake, or if I'm not sleeping, I'm awake.
01:10:49.000 I'll do something.
01:10:50.000 And then I'll do something until I'm tired, then I'll sleep.
01:10:53.000 And when I get back to LA, I'll be whacked out, but I'll just work out, and I'll deal with it, you know?
01:10:59.000 I'm not into...
01:11:01.000 The drugs that I like...
01:11:06.000 They don't incapacitate you like that.
01:11:09.000 I'm not into sedatives.
01:11:12.000 Right.
01:11:13.000 Got it.
01:11:14.000 I don't do sleeping pills either, but if I need to fall asleep on this flight, I might go a couple rows back and have Holly Holm kick me in the neck as hard as she can.
01:11:23.000 She's not even on the flight.
01:11:25.000 She's probably still back in Australia, right?
01:11:27.000 She was trying to leave today.
01:11:29.000 She was supposed to stay a couple more days, and then she changed her mind and wanted to leave today, so I don't know if she got out or not.
01:11:34.000 Do you schedule fighters to leave a couple days after so they can recover?
01:11:38.000 Yeah, you give the fighters on the card a couple days.
01:11:43.000 You'll see fighters getting on all banged up.
01:11:47.000 I just always think after you've had a fight, you should rest a couple days.
01:11:51.000 Oh, yeah.
01:11:52.000 Without a doubt.
01:11:53.000 Without a doubt.
01:11:53.000 Some people want to get right home.
01:11:55.000 You can't tell them what to do.
01:11:57.000 Right.
01:11:57.000 But I would just imagine that after a brutal fight, your head would be so fucking swollen and everything.
01:12:04.000 You wouldn't want to get on a plane.
01:12:06.000 It sucks being on a plane when your nose is stuffed up.
01:12:10.000 It's true.
01:12:10.000 People...
01:12:11.000 Don't really understand or appreciate how fucking tough these human beings really are that compete in the UFC. Man, these guys are so tough.
01:12:19.000 And girls, it's pretty fucking spectacular how tough these people are.
01:12:23.000 Well, you were talking about the Robbie Lawler-Rory McDonald fight.
01:12:27.000 And after that fight, Robbie, Rory rather, tweeted a photo of his face like the next day.
01:12:33.000 And his eyes were closed, shut, and his nose was fucked up.
01:12:37.000 And what's crazy about it, he said that it was the greatest That's how you know you're supposed to be a fighter.
01:12:45.000 That's it.
01:12:45.000 They're special people.
01:12:47.000 They're different than all of us, man.
01:12:51.000 That's why when I think about fighting, these people are so special that very few people can actually do it.
01:13:00.000 You know how many people can actually become a top three fighter in the fucking world?
01:13:04.000 How many people can become a champion and then hold the belt for any amount of time?
01:13:10.000 Very few people.
01:13:12.000 They're very special, and I think that's why, as human beings, we're so in awe of professional fighters, you know?
01:13:18.000 I always say that, that, you know, fighting's in our fucking DNA, and we just, we look at fighters and we're like, holy shit, that fucking guy is the toughest dude in the world, or that girl is the toughest girl in the world, and why we...
01:13:31.000 Put them on such a big pedestal, they deserve to be.
01:13:34.000 But, at the same time, the craziest, loneliest fucking, you know, Ronda Rousey loses one fight and everybody turns on her and starts shitting her.
01:13:43.000 Anderson Silva loses one fight.
01:13:45.000 Oh, he was never that fucking good anyway.
01:13:47.000 The 85-pound division is weak.
01:13:49.000 It's just, it's the craziest fucking thing.
01:13:51.000 You know what that is?
01:13:52.000 The people that are mean and nasty and insulting after fights are the weakest aspects of humanity.
01:14:00.000 They're the people that are scared and terrified, and they know they could never do that.
01:14:06.000 So when someone does do that and falters, they just, yeah, you fucking loser.
01:14:12.000 Yeah, you fucking kill yourself.
01:14:14.000 Yeah.
01:14:14.000 Because that's their own demons, their own insecurity, their knowledge that they could never do that in a million years.
01:14:22.000 So when someone does it and fails, all of their insecurities just come flying out of their stupid fucking mouth or their fingers.
01:14:28.000 That's what it is.
01:14:30.000 When I went on Instagram last night and Twitter and I was reading all that mean shit that people were typing about Rhonda, I knew what the fuck that is.
01:14:37.000 That's the weakest aspects of humanity.
01:14:40.000 If we could pluck those people out of our culture, the world would be a way better place.
01:14:45.000 And if the people listening to this, if you're one of those people, you need to fucking go for a walk.
01:14:50.000 Recognize who you are.
01:14:52.000 Because that's why you did that.
01:14:53.000 That woman put, both of those women, put everything that they are on the line.
01:14:59.000 And for you to insult them after they came up short, the reason why you're doing that is because you're a cunt.
01:15:06.000 You're a cunt of epic proportions.
01:15:08.000 And there's no way around that.
01:15:09.000 There's no, no, I might not be.
01:15:11.000 I might actually know something.
01:15:12.000 No, you don't know shit.
01:15:13.000 No, you're a cunt.
01:15:14.000 Because if you do know shit, you would just look at it and you would recognize the sacrifice And the drama of it all and the danger of it all, and you would have respect for them.
01:15:25.000 It's true.
01:15:26.000 So well said.
01:15:28.000 And these special individuals who walk this fucking earth and go out and fight in front of millions of people and lay it all on the line, you know?
01:15:37.000 I've seen guys walk in with the fucking belt and an entourage, go home in a fucking ambulance and by themselves.
01:15:43.000 It's crazy, man.
01:15:45.000 Well, that's when they find out who's really their friend when it all goes down.
01:15:48.000 I mean, how many fighters have developed these gigantic entourages?
01:15:52.000 Like, remember Mike Tyson in his prime was buying everybody cars?
01:15:55.000 Look at Floyd Mayweather.
01:15:56.000 Floyd Mayweather is hanging around.
01:15:58.000 He's got a goddamn army with him, crew people.
01:16:02.000 If Manny Pacquiao knocked him dead, you know, if one of those guys knocked him dead, All those dudes would disappear.
01:16:10.000 Everybody would disappear.
01:16:12.000 If he went broke, everybody would disappear.
01:16:13.000 As soon as he retires.
01:16:15.000 Well, he has retired.
01:16:17.000 I don't believe it.
01:16:19.000 I think he'll be back.
01:16:20.000 I'll be back for at least one more fight, especially when Manny Pacquiao starts talking about coming back.
01:16:24.000 Why wouldn't he come back and make another $100 million, right?
01:16:27.000 But I think that...
01:16:30.000 The Klingons and the hangers-on and the yes people, they're some of the most dangerous people for a fighter's ego.
01:16:37.000 Because what a fighter wants, they want affirmation.
01:16:41.000 They want a reinforcement of the love that they're missing, which kind of leads them to fighting in the first place.
01:16:48.000 And they surround themselves with all these people that are boosting their ego up.
01:16:51.000 Those people are fucking dangerous for you though.
01:16:54.000 Have you seen what Teddy Atlas is doing?
01:16:57.000 Teddy Atlas is training Timothy Bradley now.
01:17:00.000 Amazing.
01:17:00.000 You see Bradley's last fight?
01:17:01.000 No, we talked about that.
01:17:02.000 I didn't see it, but you said it was awesome.
01:17:05.000 Phenomenal.
01:17:05.000 Bradley looked fantastic.
01:17:07.000 One of the best parts about it is Teddy Atlas said, no entourage, no cell phones, no nothing.
01:17:13.000 He doesn't want music playing.
01:17:15.000 No one's in there.
01:17:16.000 It's just him.
01:17:17.000 And him.
01:17:18.000 They look at each other, they go over technique, they focus on the game plan, they focus on the work that has to be done, and that's it.
01:17:25.000 You know, Floyd Mayweather's got a goddamn circus, and he's talented, and he can pull it off with that circus.
01:17:32.000 But the moment he can, and those guys have to go out and get real jobs, is the moment he finds out that they weren't really his friends.
01:17:38.000 They were paid friends.
01:17:39.000 They were employed friends.
01:17:42.000 Friends that were there to try to boost his ego up.
01:17:44.000 And their only occupation is they're professional friends.
01:17:49.000 They're there to be Floyd Mayweather's friends.
01:17:51.000 Yep.
01:17:52.000 Floyd's good at the circus, though.
01:17:55.000 Oh, he's the best.
01:17:55.000 Floyd had the circus.
01:17:58.000 People weren't as interested.
01:17:59.000 He really took it to another level.
01:18:02.000 When he was Pretty Boy Floyd, nobody cared.
01:18:04.000 Nobody cared.
01:18:05.000 When he became Money Mayweather...
01:18:07.000 Everybody cared.
01:18:07.000 He's a wizard.
01:18:08.000 I mean, look, that's the same thing with Ronda.
01:18:10.000 You know, Lady Gaga doesn't fucking get it.
01:18:13.000 Like, all these people don't get it.
01:18:14.000 Like, half of what Ronda does is psychological, but half of it's marketing.
01:18:18.000 All that stuff is marketing.
01:18:20.000 You know, you talk all that crazy shit, that's where you get all the money.
01:18:23.000 The money comes from what Conor McGregor's doing.
01:18:26.000 Oh, I don't like what Conor McGregor's doing.
01:18:28.000 Mixed martial arts is supposed to be about respect.
01:18:31.000 Look, you got maybe ten years if you're lucky.
01:18:34.000 But realistically, the great fighters, you look at the great fighters, they have like an eight-year period that they can operate at this incredibly high RPM. And then your body starts giving out.
01:18:43.000 You can't take any shots anymore.
01:18:45.000 Your fucking knees are bad.
01:18:47.000 Your back goes bad.
01:18:48.000 Your neck's all fucked up.
01:18:49.000 At a certain point in time, it fails.
01:18:51.000 You have two...
01:18:53.000 Things you're trying to accomplish during that time.
01:18:55.000 You're trying to win.
01:18:56.000 You're trying to make as much money as you can.
01:18:58.000 And the best way to make as much money is get people to pay attention.
01:19:01.000 And the best way to get people to pay attention is to talk a gang of shit.
01:19:06.000 I'm going to tell you right now.
01:19:07.000 So, I was laying in bed last night after the fight, you know?
01:19:12.000 In Melbourne, the fight was over around five-something.
01:19:15.000 We were all back at our hotels by nine.
01:19:18.000 The Notorious was on.
01:19:20.000 Have you seen the Notorious?
01:19:23.000 That is a fucking great show, man.
01:19:25.000 They literally ran five episodes of it last night.
01:19:28.000 I laid in bed and watched five fucking episodes back to back.
01:19:31.000 I'm like, Jesus Christ, this is really fucking good.
01:19:34.000 It's a good show.
01:19:35.000 I mean, it's unbelievable.
01:19:36.000 They just follow this kid around, and it is compelling, great television.
01:19:42.000 He's a wizard.
01:19:43.000 And it's amazing because it does this thing where either you fall in love with them, right?
01:19:48.000 And this goes for McGregor, Mayweather, and Rousey.
01:19:50.000 Either you fall in love with them and you want to watch them retain their championship.
01:19:54.000 Or you start to hate them and you want to watch them lose.
01:19:58.000 Either way, you're watching and it's beautiful.
01:20:01.000 And again, you know, it's all going pro wrestling.
01:20:04.000 Pro wrestling.
01:20:05.000 As weird as it is, and the fact that it's not real and this and that, you know, that's definitely something that, you know, they built their entire MO off of, you know?
01:20:13.000 Yeah.
01:20:14.000 Pro wrestling fans are going to go crazy to hear you say that.
01:20:17.000 Did you hear what I called a fake?
01:20:18.000 That time I had every crazy lunatic pro wrestling fan on my fucking Twitter for like three weeks, man.
01:20:26.000 Well, tell me that I did a podcast and there's only a few times where I've gotten...
01:20:32.000 There's two times where I got more hate than anything I've ever done.
01:20:35.000 One of them was when I said that Fallon Fox, that man that became a woman, shouldn't be fighting women.
01:20:41.000 I got all the fucking progressives and social justice warriors coming after me, being a transphobe.
01:20:47.000 And the other time was when I said that pro wrestling was retarded.
01:20:52.000 Because Tony and I did a podcast and I just mocked him for about an hour.
01:20:55.000 I got a fucking tsunami of misspelled tweets my way.
01:20:59.000 It was like I was drowning in misspelled tweets.
01:21:04.000 And I was like, I just wanted to correct their grammar.
01:21:07.000 That's not your, it's Y-O-U apostrophe R-E, fucks.
01:21:11.000 That is so funny, man.
01:21:13.000 I got the same thing.
01:21:15.000 People were going crazy.
01:21:16.000 I mean, even then there's these guys that used to wrestle and guys that have podcasts and all these things that were on there.
01:21:22.000 And then Stone Cold Steve Austin came to my rescue.
01:21:25.000 He said, listen, I don't think that he was saying, he said fake, but you know, they don't know the work and the this, that.
01:21:30.000 He didn't mean any disrespect.
01:21:32.000 Stone Cold had to come and save me from all the fucking lunatics.
01:21:36.000 That's what happens.
01:21:38.000 Mick Foley did that for me.
01:21:39.000 Yeah, Mick Foley's the man.
01:21:41.000 Everybody knows that it's fake.
01:21:43.000 Where they get super defensive and crazy is if you say that they're not real athletes.
01:21:49.000 Because they do every night, you know what I mean?
01:21:52.000 They do a different arena every night.
01:21:54.000 On Mondays it's filmed, and then they do pay-per-views on Sundays.
01:21:57.000 So the only thing that really ruckuses up the fans, if you say that those guys aren't real athletes, Well, it is a tough job.
01:22:05.000 Those guys put in some fucking serious numbers.
01:22:08.000 I mean, how many days a year do they go on the road?
01:22:10.000 That was one of the reasons why Brock Lesnar decided that fighting in the fucking UFC at the highest level of the game with one, one previous MMA fight was easier than doing pro wrestling.
01:22:23.000 That goes to show you how hard that entertainment business is.
01:22:26.000 It's true, man.
01:22:27.000 They're on the road like 330 days a year.
01:22:29.000 Yeah.
01:22:32.000 230 days a year.
01:22:34.000 And...
01:22:34.000 Wait.
01:22:35.000 No, 330. I think it's 330. It's a big number.
01:22:38.000 It's a lot.
01:22:39.000 It's almost the entire year.
01:22:40.000 And they're always in pain.
01:22:41.000 That's why a lot of them have pain pill problems.
01:22:43.000 Every one of the...
01:22:45.000 The people over at the WWE are fans of UFC, and anytime I've ever had any type of interaction with a WWE star, they're always really good people.
01:22:56.000 Really good people, really nice, totally respectful, just like the best people to deal with.
01:23:02.000 So I have nothing against wrestling at all.
01:23:05.000 Do you think CM Punk is ever going to actually fight?
01:23:07.000 I do, yeah.
01:23:08.000 So what happened was, he got hurt.
01:23:10.000 He hurt his shoulder, and he was fucking devastated.
01:23:13.000 He thought he was going to have to have surgery, and he didn't.
01:23:17.000 He actually lucked out and got out with therapy.
01:23:21.000 So he went through his therapy, and he's coming back now.
01:23:24.000 Tell him to go to Dr. D. Take him to that guy in Vegas and get the stem cells.
01:23:29.000 Oh my god.
01:23:30.000 Maybe I will tell him that.
01:23:31.000 You should get stem cells in every part of your body.
01:23:33.000 Just do it.
01:23:33.000 Trust me.
01:23:34.000 The greatest thing I've ever done.
01:23:36.000 I'm going back in December.
01:23:37.000 I just want him to start shooting shit up.
01:23:39.000 Shoot my elbows up.
01:23:40.000 Fuck it.
01:23:41.000 Dwayne Ludwig told me he did that.
01:23:42.000 Dwayne had his hips done and his shoulders done.
01:23:45.000 Didn't even need anything wrong.
01:23:46.000 Just decided to get stem cells shot in there to heal things.
01:23:50.000 It's incredible.
01:23:51.000 This is total next level shit.
01:23:53.000 You were saying that that guy in Germany, what's his name?
01:23:56.000 Peter...
01:23:56.000 Velling.
01:23:57.000 Dr. Peter Velling.
01:23:58.000 Tell me what he's talking about, the collagen thing.
01:24:01.000 Yeah, so they're working on this thing over there where, you know how testosterone replacement therapy works?
01:24:07.000 You know, as we get older, our testosterone levels drop, and then they can, you know, give you an injection and put this testosterone back into your body, make you feel younger, sex life, all these other things.
01:24:17.000 Well, now...
01:24:18.000 What these guys are working on is these collagen shots.
01:24:22.000 So they give you these injections of collagen, and it replaces the collagen in your body.
01:24:26.000 Collagen is what keeps your skin young.
01:24:29.000 And as we all get older, it goes away.
01:24:32.000 They did this thing, I guess, that they've been testing on this 10-year-old rat.
01:24:37.000 And the rat looks like a fucking...
01:24:39.000 Rat looks like a baby rat now.
01:24:42.000 Wow.
01:24:43.000 Yeah.
01:24:43.000 So they're literally...
01:24:46.000 Right now, I guess this shit's ready to go.
01:24:47.000 They're just building up the infrastructure over there because when this thing comes out and when they announce this, it's going to be a trillion dollar business.
01:24:55.000 It's going to be ridiculous.
01:24:57.000 Now, is it they're injecting collagen or are they injecting something that makes you regenerate collagen?
01:25:02.000 Again, don't take the fucking...
01:25:04.000 I can't give you the scientific explanation of it, but they basically came up with this thing where you get these injections and it makes you younger again.
01:25:13.000 It's almost like replacing the collagen in your body.
01:25:16.000 And your wrinkles go away.
01:25:18.000 They go away and your face looks like your face looked when you were younger.
01:25:22.000 So ladies out there that are banging your faces all up with all this crazy shit that they're doing, plastic surgery and all this stuff, I'd lay off it and wait for this stuff to come out.
01:25:31.000 We're a fucking year away from this happening.
01:25:34.000 Hang in there, gals.
01:25:35.000 Just hang in there.
01:25:36.000 You know, it's interesting.
01:25:37.000 We're talking about testosterone replacement.
01:25:39.000 That's been one of the biggest...
01:25:41.000 One of the controversies in MMA over the last few years was that, for a while, the Nevada State Athletic Commission was allowing testosterone use exemptions.
01:25:51.000 So a few guys got it.
01:25:53.000 Vitor, maybe unfairly, takes the brunt of the criticism for that.
01:25:57.000 Because his results on testosterone were so fucking spectacular.
01:26:01.000 When you get an old guy like Vitor, who has all that experience and all that knowledge, and you give him testosterone, and his body performs like a young guy's body, but with all that knowledge and all that experience, you get what happened in the Henderson fight, the Bisping fight,
01:26:17.000 and the Rockhold fight, where he just looks fucking sensational.
01:26:19.000 But now, you know...
01:26:22.000 Now they've pulled out.
01:26:23.000 They pull the testosterone use exemptions back, and these guys are trying to force to try to compete.
01:26:29.000 Mark Hunt, perfect example.
01:26:31.000 The first fight with Bigfoot Silva and Mark Hunt was this crazy fucking five-round war.
01:26:38.000 And after the fight, Bigfoot tests positive.
01:26:41.000 Not positive, because we knew he was on testosterone.
01:26:44.000 He was allowed to take it.
01:26:45.000 He actually...
01:26:46.000 Out of all the fucking people, he's a guy that actually medically has to take it, and not because of his age, because he has some type of pituitary or something like that.
01:26:55.000 To where his pituitary gland causes gigantism, which stops his body's production of a lot of hormones.
01:27:00.000 It interrupts a lot of hormones.
01:27:01.000 So he's a guy who actually really has to take it or bad things can happen to him.
01:27:06.000 And...
01:27:07.000 The problem was, he took the shot the week of the fight or two days before.
01:27:11.000 You're not supposed to do that.
01:27:13.000 You're not supposed to do that.
01:27:14.000 And the sad part is, you know, some of these doctors say it wouldn't even help him.
01:27:19.000 At the time that he took it, to have that much in him, it wouldn't even...
01:27:23.000 They say that.
01:27:24.000 They say that, but I don't think they know.
01:27:27.000 No, that's the problem.
01:27:28.000 The problem became that if you talk to fucking six guys, they give you six different answers.
01:27:34.000 And that's what started to happen with this shit.
01:27:36.000 Nobody was really an expert on it.
01:27:38.000 Nobody really knew what it would do or wouldn't do.
01:27:41.000 And if you had two different...
01:27:42.000 If the commission had a doctor, yet he was talking to his own doctor, they would disagree on what the...
01:27:48.000 You know what I mean?
01:27:48.000 And not to mention the fact that if you have something good...
01:27:52.000 When testosterone first came out, I said, well, this is going to be good.
01:27:55.000 You know...
01:27:56.000 Guys can replace it in guys' careers and this, that, and everything else.
01:27:58.000 But the other problem is if you have these guys that are like, well, if this much is good for me, how much is this going to do for me?
01:28:06.000 So they're cheating on it.
01:28:07.000 So they're basically through their whole camp using so much that they might as well be on steroids.
01:28:14.000 Well, they are on steroids.
01:28:15.000 They're taking hyperhuman levels.
01:28:17.000 And that was what had happened with Mark Hunt.
01:28:20.000 But look, the proof is in the pudding.
01:28:22.000 Because if you watch that Mark Hunt fight, Mark Hunt hit Bigfoot with everything but the fucking kitchen sink.
01:28:28.000 And Bigfoot just ate it.
01:28:29.000 He ate it.
01:28:31.000 And Mark Hunt's one of the biggest knockout artists in the sport.
01:28:34.000 And those two went to war for five rounds.
01:28:37.000 In the rematch, Bigfoot's off the testosterone replacement.
01:28:41.000 Mark Hunt hits him with one clean right hand and drops him.
01:28:45.000 I could see it at weigh-ins, by the way.
01:28:47.000 Bigfoot was having trouble taking his shirt off.
01:28:49.000 I know it sounds crazy, but it was like stumbling taking his shirt off.
01:28:52.000 Well, it did look like he might have been having problems with his shoulder or something, right?
01:28:56.000 Maybe, yeah.
01:28:56.000 But he also just seemed a little bit slow to come up the stairs.
01:29:00.000 And it's like, those guys aren't cutting weight, right?
01:29:02.000 No, well maybe a little bit.
01:29:04.000 Yeah, both of them were 265. I think they both weighed in at 65. Yeah, they did cut weight.
01:29:08.000 But Hunt said he didn't have to cut weight for this because he dropped a lot of weight training.
01:29:12.000 He looked a lot leaner.
01:29:13.000 He looked really good.
01:29:14.000 He trained with Mike Swick over in AKA, who, by the way, I couldn't be happier for.
01:29:19.000 Yeah, me too.
01:29:19.000 Fucking great dude.
01:29:20.000 Good to see him succeed.
01:29:22.000 Good stuff.
01:29:23.000 Yeah, Mike Swick's the best.
01:29:24.000 But Bigfoot went on the scope first, and he was slow.
01:29:27.000 Slow in a few different ways.
01:29:29.000 And then Mark Hunt was introduced, and he came out with his stuff already off.
01:29:34.000 I've said this before on one of your podcasts, but I feel like you can learn a lot during the weigh-ins.
01:29:40.000 Yeah, so true.
01:29:41.000 The weigh-ins are everything, brother.
01:29:43.000 It's everything.
01:29:44.000 You really do see everything at the weigh-ins.
01:29:47.000 Deeply psychological.
01:29:48.000 And I mentioned this, I don't think I mentioned this in this podcast, but maybe yesterday I said it.
01:29:53.000 If you look at the weigh-in between Rousey and Holm, exactly what Ronda did at the weigh-in is what she did in the fight.
01:30:01.000 The second she got off that scale, she ran over to Holm, who was standing her ground in her place, and rushed her.
01:30:09.000 I mean, she really bum-rushed her.
01:30:11.000 I think harder than Ronda's ever went for anybody.
01:30:13.000 Even her last fight when the lady said about her dad's suicide, you know, don't kill yourself or whatever, she seemed more mad than At Holly Holm, for what?
01:30:23.000 For drinking her drink and moving her hand towards her a little bit?
01:30:26.000 Like, she bum-rushed her during the weigh-in.
01:30:29.000 And she did exactly at that weigh-in, exactly what she did in the octagon.
01:30:33.000 But didn't you say that the weigh-in changed the betting line?
01:30:37.000 Yeah.
01:30:37.000 It did.
01:30:38.000 Yeah, it changed.
01:30:40.000 The line moved after the weigh-in.
01:30:42.000 Moved in Holly's favor.
01:30:44.000 Oh, see?
01:30:45.000 Yeah.
01:30:45.000 There's a lot of times.
01:30:46.000 The weigh-ins tell you everything.
01:30:49.000 It's my second favorite day.
01:30:52.000 It's the day that you get to see who's on weight, how do they stare down, does either guy flinch, does either one of them budge, does somebody trying to get the mental edge.
01:31:02.000 It's the fucking greatest day of the week except for Saturday.
01:31:06.000 To break it down even more, I've watched the last four weigh-ins of Johanna Janjacek, and this was the first time that Valerie Letourneau was the first person that also put her head down and matched up with Johanna.
01:31:21.000 Oh no, Valerie did that on sale too.
01:31:24.000 Yeah, and it's basically saying, let's fucking go.
01:31:27.000 I'm telling you, dude, you're dead on fucking right now.
01:31:32.000 When we were in whatever, I fucking loved.
01:31:36.000 When they squared off, a lot of the time my job is to make sure they don't touch each other.
01:31:41.000 Because when they touch each other, then people start feeling disrespected and whatever.
01:31:45.000 Valley Returnal laid her fucking head right on top of Joanna's at the on sale.
01:31:52.000 When we came out here for the on sale.
01:31:54.000 And they smooshed their fucking nose to nose.
01:31:58.000 I have to kind of gauge what's going on there so that shit doesn't happen.
01:32:01.000 And I felt that they were both, and I was like, God damn, this is badass.
01:32:06.000 I just let it happen because they both just did it, you know?
01:32:09.000 But you got to be careful because you let guys do that and you get the Cormier Jones situation, you know what I mean?
01:32:15.000 It's real tricky, but you're dead on with what you're saying.
01:32:17.000 And that was the day I said, Letourneau is here to fucking fuck.
01:32:20.000 And not only that, but a little bit more icing on that cake.
01:32:24.000 When Johanna and Letourneau were forehead to forehead, Johanna was talking and you asked her what she said, but if you watch that again, Valerie's talking too and they're just talking over each other.
01:32:34.000 They're both saying stuff.
01:32:35.000 She wasn't listening to Johanna and Johanna wasn't listening to How crazy is what Joanna said?
01:32:40.000 I told her yesterday is your lucky day.
01:32:42.000 Today and tomorrow are my lucky days.
01:32:45.000 That's some fucking creepy fairytale hobbit type shit.
01:32:51.000 She's a demon.
01:32:52.000 I'm too fast for them and they are too slow for me.
01:32:56.000 She's a demon, dude.
01:32:57.000 I gave her cookie.
01:33:01.000 She's a demon.
01:33:02.000 She's awesome.
01:33:03.000 And I think that having these two champions in the women's divisions, and both of them now are just these skilled killers.
01:33:11.000 Both of them.
01:33:11.000 I mean, look, Ronda was a skilled killer.
01:33:13.000 Holly Holm's a skilled killer.
01:33:15.000 John is a skilled killer.
01:33:16.000 They're so skillful.
01:33:18.000 It's like the highest level of MMA in the women's division is comparable to the highest level of men's MMA. I mean, absolutely.
01:33:28.000 I put Ioana striking up with anybody on the fucking planet that fights in MMA. Six-time world Muay Thai champion, clean striking.
01:33:36.000 I mean, she's obviously 115 pounds, so she's not dropping people dead like Rumble Johnson is, but she is fucking nasty and skillful.
01:33:46.000 The first time I saw her, I've said she's my favorite fighter.
01:33:49.000 And I make jokes about wanting to marry her and this and that.
01:33:52.000 Truth is, I have a girlfriend who hates all this Johanna mumble jumble when she reads it on my Twitter and is searching what people are saying about me.
01:33:59.000 Who's this Johanna Janjacek?
01:34:01.000 Would you really hook up with her?
01:34:02.000 This and that.
01:34:03.000 Truth is, you know, I make the jokes about Johanna because I say I need a woman that'll keep me in line.
01:34:08.000 She's really just my favorite fighter.
01:34:10.000 I love UFC. I've been watching it since Gracie was in the gi.
01:34:13.000 There's something about Johanna's striking.
01:34:15.000 Say her name, right?
01:34:17.000 Johanna.
01:34:17.000 Johanna.
01:34:18.000 Johanna.
01:34:19.000 Johanna.
01:34:19.000 Not Hana.
01:34:20.000 Okay.
01:34:21.000 Johanna.
01:34:21.000 Johanna.
01:34:22.000 I mean, I'm telling you.
01:34:23.000 Just call her Johanna.
01:34:24.000 Yeah, exactly.
01:34:26.000 But she's my favorite fighter.
01:34:28.000 The way that she strikes, it's just fun to watch.
01:34:30.000 If there was a guy that threw four or five punches at a time all for the center of your nose, that guy would be my favorite fighter.
01:34:36.000 But she is.
01:34:37.000 And then you look at Holly Holm.
01:34:39.000 Obviously, what Holly did last night was perfect.
01:34:43.000 I mean, she fought a perfect fight.
01:34:44.000 I mean, there was nothing amateurish about it, nothing clumsy or sloppy.
01:34:48.000 That was as skillful as you could ever hope for in a professional mixed martial arts fight.
01:34:54.000 And the way she took advantage of Ronda at the end of that, the exchange in the second round when Ronda was tired and she slipped and she caught her with that punch and then head kicked her, I mean, that's...
01:35:05.000 It's perfect.
01:35:06.000 It's perfect technique.
01:35:07.000 Everything was perfect.
01:35:08.000 So we have now in women's MMA, we have the two representatives now in the UFC. They're as skillful as anybody in MMA. It's true.
01:35:18.000 And then when you think about shaking out the rest of that 135-pound division, you pair up any way you want.
01:35:26.000 Amanda...
01:35:28.000 Kat, Misha, Juliana Pena.
01:35:31.000 Juliana Pena, it's nice to have her back too.
01:35:34.000 Those four, those four women, you know, in any, mix and match that any way you want.
01:35:40.000 Well, you know, the perception was that Ronda was at the top of the heap and everybody else was just underskilled, but man, that My perception's been blown wide open by Holly Holm now.
01:35:50.000 Now the whole game changes.
01:35:52.000 It just opens it right...
01:35:53.000 It's like the same thing that happened when Buster Douglas knocked out Tyson.
01:35:56.000 And then Evander Holyfield came along and knocked out Buster Douglas.
01:35:59.000 I mean, the whole thing just...
01:36:00.000 It just throws the paradigm into a fucking turmoil.
01:36:04.000 It's true.
01:36:05.000 And you know the thing about having someone like a Ronda Rousey or like a Joanna is that greatness beckons greatness.
01:36:14.000 When you have one person at the top that is just fantastic and spectacular and has these incredible results, All these people that are coming up, they have this insanely high level to aspire to, and that's what makes martial arts so great in 2015. It's not a coincidence that if you go back to 1993,
01:36:33.000 and you look at the level of the fighters, and then you look at it in 2015, Head and shoulders above everybody.
01:36:40.000 It's barely the same sport.
01:36:42.000 And the reason being is that slowly but surely everybody aspired to the people who were at the top and the people coming up got better and better and better and better and that's how we have the level that we have today.
01:36:53.000 And you're seeing that mirrored now in the women's divisions.
01:36:56.000 And that's one of the most exciting things about the sport.
01:36:59.000 And it's That way, not only for the UFC, but for life, you know what I mean?
01:37:02.000 Like, sometimes I forget until, you know, I'll go once in a while, a month or two without working with you, or, you know, but like, there's only a few people left that I watch.
01:37:13.000 I do stand-up comedy every night, and I work really hard for the last nine years, basically training every night to get as good as I can get.
01:37:20.000 But when I see you, Joey Diaz, and Bill Burr, which are the only three people left that I'll even watch, It's a straight shot of adrenaline inspiration.
01:37:29.000 All of a sudden, I'm riding harder the next day.
01:37:32.000 I'm sleeping right.
01:37:34.000 I'm doing more things.
01:37:36.000 People, you know, it's important to use inspiration to your advantage for everything.
01:37:41.000 Human beings, we all need other people to inspire us.
01:37:47.000 We all do.
01:37:48.000 One of the most important aspects of MMA is competition.
01:37:54.000 These are not people that evolve in a vacuum.
01:37:57.000 They evolve looking at each other, mirroring each other.
01:37:59.000 And also now, one of the things that we've said many times is that martial arts have evolved more since 1993 when the UFC was founded than they have in the past 10,000 years.
01:38:09.000 That's 100% true.
01:38:10.000 But really, one of the reasons why it's true is because you can see the techniques.
01:38:14.000 You can actually watch them.
01:38:16.000 I remember when I was a kid, in 1986, I went to watch the World Cup in Colorado Springs, in Taekwondo, and I flew out there, and it was a giant turning point in my Taekwondo career, because I was really good, I was winning like, Good level tournaments,
01:38:34.000 and I was doing well, but in 86 when I went to watch the best guys on the planet, I came back 20, 30, 40% better.
01:38:44.000 I was just way better.
01:38:45.000 I saw the top of the mountain, and I think when you get people that are sitting in the crowd You know, you get these young contenders that are sitting there and they watch someone like Holly Holm dismantle Ronda Rousey.
01:38:56.000 They watch someone like Chris Weidman knock out Anderson Silva.
01:38:59.000 They watch Jose Aldo or TJ Dillashaw.
01:39:02.000 They watch these fighters and they go back to that gym and they're a different fucking person.
01:39:07.000 They go back to that gym when they have the memory of that spectacular performance in their head and it just makes them rise up.
01:39:14.000 And I think also...
01:39:16.000 To people that don't have anything to do with fighting.
01:39:18.000 They'll watch that Holly Holm fight and they'll wake up in the morning and they'll go to their fucking yoga class inspired.
01:39:24.000 They'll go take spin classes.
01:39:25.000 They'll go run up hills.
01:39:27.000 They'll show up at work fucking fired up, ready to kick some ass and get some shit done.
01:39:31.000 So true.
01:39:32.000 And the champions should take something from this.
01:39:35.000 Because what's one thing, in my opinion, that Anderson Silva's lost to Weidman, the first one?
01:39:40.000 And this loss, Ronda Rousey to Holly Holm have in common?
01:39:44.000 And I say ego.
01:39:46.000 Silva was showboating when he caught that punch.
01:39:50.000 Maybe he would have lost anyway, but he was showboating.
01:39:53.000 He caught it and it was over.
01:39:54.000 And I'm sorry, but Ronda was fighting with pure ego yesterday.
01:39:58.000 Her head, her chin was out.
01:39:59.000 Her hands were low.
01:40:01.000 She was just bum-rushing.
01:40:02.000 It seemed like she just thought she was gonna out.
01:40:06.000 I think it was more desperation than ego, but I think you're right in some ways, but I think really, instead of ego, I think pressure is a better thing to concentrate on.
01:40:18.000 Because I think both with Ronda and with Anderson, Anderson had the pressure of everybody saying he was the pound for pound greatest fighter of all time.
01:40:26.000 And he had all these murderers coming up through the ranks like Weidman, Yoel Romero, all these, Jacare, all these guys waiting in line to get a shot at him.
01:40:35.000 And the pressure of that is just overwhelming.
01:40:38.000 But unlike Anderson, or unlike Ronda rather, Anderson didn't have all these movie offers.
01:40:43.000 He's not constantly doing television shows.
01:40:46.000 I mean, he had some media obligations, especially particularly in Brazil where he's idolized, but Ron is on a totally different level.
01:40:54.000 He doesn't get enough credit for it.
01:40:55.000 The guy was fucking 37, 38 years old.
01:40:57.000 You know what I mean?
01:40:59.000 People forgot.
01:41:00.000 He was so good and so talented.
01:41:02.000 To still be doing what he was doing at the level he was doing it at 37 years old is unbelievable.
01:41:09.000 Are you guys going to do Vitor versus Anderson?
01:41:12.000 That's the fight.
01:41:13.000 I know.
01:41:14.000 I don't disagree.
01:41:16.000 That's the fight.
01:41:17.000 That's the fight.
01:41:18.000 God.
01:41:19.000 Is Vitor into that?
01:41:21.000 I think Vitor is, yes.
01:41:22.000 When does Anderson's suspension go up?
01:41:26.000 Might be the first of the year.
01:41:28.000 I don't know exactly, but...
01:41:29.000 That's a fight.
01:41:31.000 That's the fight.
01:41:33.000 Do you think there'll ever be a time when marijuana is...
01:41:44.000 Well, marijuana, these guys can do whatever they want to do.
01:41:48.000 You can't do it the week of the fight.
01:41:51.000 Well, it's not even...
01:41:52.000 Nowitzki said it's like literally the day before the fight now.
01:41:56.000 He's like, you just can't fight high.
01:41:58.000 Whatever it is that is going to be out of your system, it needs to be out of your system by the fight.
01:42:03.000 You can do whatever you want.
01:42:05.000 There's so many misconceptions about how this thing goes down.
01:42:09.000 Oh, Jon Jones can do cocaine, but...
01:42:12.000 John Jones tested positive for Cody K out of competition.
01:42:16.000 Right.
01:42:17.000 Out of competition.
01:42:18.000 Nick Diaz tested positive three times in competition.
01:42:23.000 That's the difference.
01:42:24.000 The problem with the last time, though, was there was two WADA tests that had him below the threshold, which are much more comprehensive tests.
01:42:32.000 They're blood tests.
01:42:33.000 And the one Quest Labs test, which was a urine test, had him above it.
01:42:37.000 So it's controversial what happened in the last fight.
01:42:40.000 Very.
01:42:41.000 And that's why he's going to do well in that deal.
01:42:45.000 Well, they're so out of control that they would fucking ban him for five years when they do that.
01:42:51.000 I mean, it's one thing to find a guy or to figure out some sort of a compromise, community service, whatever the fuck you've got to do, but you're taking away the guy's career.
01:43:00.000 Five years when you're 20 is a long time.
01:43:03.000 Five years when you're 32 is a death sentence.
01:43:06.000 It's a career-runner.
01:43:07.000 Yeah, no, I agree.
01:43:08.000 Um...
01:43:09.000 Yeah, I agree.
01:43:10.000 Well, they lost their lawsuit against Vanderlei.
01:43:13.000 So Vanderlei, his suspension has been lifted, right?
01:43:16.000 I mean, or if it hasn't been lifted, their lifetime ban of him has been thrown out by a judge.
01:43:23.000 That I don't know.
01:43:24.000 Yes.
01:43:24.000 That I don't know.
01:43:25.000 I do know that.
01:43:27.000 I mean, I don't know whether or not the Nevada State Athletic Commission is going to repeal it, but I know that they did throw out his lifetime ban.
01:43:35.000 They haven't licensed him.
01:43:37.000 I mean, it's not like he can go back to work right now, but if they just...
01:43:42.000 Banned him or gave him a suspension that was the same amount of time that you would have gotten if you tested positive for steroids, especially Vandele, who had never tested positive before.
01:43:53.000 You know, and look, Vandele's no saint.
01:43:56.000 Who knows what the fuck he had done when he was in pride.
01:43:58.000 But the point is, when they were testing him, he followed the guidelines, at least as far as when they tested him.
01:44:07.000 They banned him for life.
01:44:09.000 One time he runs away from a drug test, they ban him for life.
01:44:12.000 That's fucking crazy.
01:44:13.000 That's crazy.
01:44:14.000 I mean, I think someone needs to pull those guys aside and go, look, what you do is very important.
01:44:21.000 It's very important to have you there.
01:44:22.000 It's very important to have a voice of authority.
01:44:24.000 It's very important to have penalties.
01:44:41.000 I find that disgusting.
01:44:43.000 Right.
01:44:48.000 I agree.
01:44:49.000 I don't disagree with you.
01:44:51.000 It's not good for PR. It's not good for how everybody...
01:44:55.000 I know they were mad at me because I tweeted the phone number for the Nevada State Athletic Commission after they banned Nick Diaz for five years.
01:45:02.000 And I'm like, let everybody know.
01:45:03.000 Let them know what you think about it.
01:45:05.000 Like, you have to understand, what I did to you was nothing compared to what you did to Nick Diaz.
01:45:11.000 Nothing.
01:45:12.000 Nothing.
01:45:12.000 I didn't even know that.
01:45:13.000 Yeah, I tweeted it.
01:45:14.000 I was going to tweet it every day for like a year, but I changed my mind.
01:45:17.000 I was like, now I'm helping anybody.
01:45:20.000 They'll just change their number or whatever.
01:45:22.000 But the point being is that they didn't take into consideration the two WADA tests, which is fucked up, and they banned him for five years and fined him $160,000.
01:45:33.000 That's just crazy.
01:45:34.000 Yeah.
01:45:35.000 It's too much money.
01:45:36.000 Chavez Jr., they fined him a million bucks, man.
01:45:39.000 Was it a million?
01:45:40.000 A million bucks?
01:45:40.000 Nine hundred and something thousand, yeah.
01:45:42.000 For pot?
01:45:43.000 Yeah, for pot.
01:45:44.000 Oh my goodness.
01:45:46.000 See, maybe there should just be some matches where the fighter and their opponent have to smoke pot beforehand.
01:45:54.000 You know what I mean?
01:45:54.000 All of a sudden they're doing crazy stuff.
01:45:56.000 Listen, I know all you crazy weed-smoking dudes, man.
01:45:59.000 Love your weed, but don't smoke it two days before the fight, please.
01:46:03.000 Or don't smoke it one day.
01:46:05.000 Just keep it simple.
01:46:06.000 Let's play it safe.
01:46:07.000 Let's go two days before the fight.
01:46:09.000 Well, the word on Nick Diaz was that the Gomi fight that he tested so high that he had to be high when he was fighting Gomi.
01:46:15.000 Yeah.
01:46:16.000 Yeah, it's crazy.
01:46:17.000 It's amazing.
01:46:19.000 I mean, you know, they say that smoking pot's one of those things where, like, if you're in college and you study for a test high, that you should take the test high, and, you know.
01:46:30.000 Really?
01:46:31.000 Yeah, and they, you know.
01:46:32.000 I've never heard that.
01:46:33.000 Oh yeah, it's one of those, like, things.
01:46:34.000 I mean, I cannot confirm before you guys start tweeting at me that I don't know my science, you know.
01:46:39.000 I'm just saying that I've heard this before and that it sort of makes sense to me.
01:46:45.000 So, I mean, I don't know, maybe if Nick trains high.
01:46:47.000 I mean, I know sometimes I go on stage high.
01:46:50.000 What?
01:46:51.000 Yeah.
01:46:52.000 What?
01:46:52.000 What I do do is I work out a lot of my material.
01:46:55.000 When I'm doing, like, a late-night spot at the comedy store, I purposefully get high.
01:47:01.000 You know, it's like working out with ankle weights on, and then you do that stuff sober, you'll fucking slay a theater.
01:47:06.000 Oh, my God, your timing and beats are just impeccable.
01:47:09.000 So I don't know, maybe he trains high, so he feels like he has to fight high.
01:47:14.000 Well, there's been arguments like that when it comes to testosterone replacement and even some performance enhancers, that if the two fighters had made an agreement that they would both allow the other person to do whatever amount of whatever,
01:47:30.000 that that should be ethical and allowed.
01:47:33.000 And then instead of saying, you know, oh, you're cheating, it's just like saying you allow someone to, I mean, we allow people to take multivitamins, we allow them to take creatine, we allow them to use, you know, cryotherapy chambers, and all these things that have shown to have a pretty significant impact on recovery.
01:47:49.000 Why not allow them, you know, to make an agreement?
01:47:52.000 I know, I'd rather.
01:47:53.000 Like a steel cage match, right?
01:47:55.000 You both sign up for it?
01:47:56.000 Yeah, I know, I'd rather fight a stone guy than a sober guy.
01:47:59.000 You say that.
01:48:01.000 I'd rather do jiu-jitsu with a guy who's sober than a guy who's high.
01:48:06.000 I think I do jiu-jitsu better when I'm high.
01:48:08.000 I really do.
01:48:08.000 A lot of people do.
01:48:11.000 A lot of jiu-jitsu people do jiu-jitsu high.
01:48:14.000 They train high.
01:48:15.000 They compete high.
01:48:16.000 Super, super common.
01:48:17.000 But the difference is it's not striking.
01:48:20.000 I know I'm better at eating and watching movies when I'm high.
01:48:26.000 I wonder what's going to happen, Dana, when you're talking about things like Dr. Welling coming out with this collagen stuff.
01:48:33.000 When they start coming out with gene therapy and all these different ways to make your body young again, and you get a guy like Vitor, who is an old guy with all this experience and all this knowledge, but that's the trade-off in life, is that as you get older, your body doesn't work as well.
01:48:48.000 So you might be a crafty old veteran, but you've got to conserve your energy more because your body's just not capable of the same kind of output.
01:48:55.000 But if you get a guy like Vitor and then you bring him to that doctor and he does some wanky shit to his body and all of a sudden he's got both.
01:49:03.000 He's got the knowledge and he's got the youthful body.
01:49:06.000 The whole sport gets very different and very strange.
01:49:10.000 Yes.
01:49:10.000 And that'll change all of sports, not just fighting.
01:49:12.000 But the difference between basketball and MMA is that in basketball you don't have a finish like you had last night with Holly Holm head kicking Ronda Rousey.
01:49:21.000 You have someone slam dunking on you.
01:49:23.000 That's like the, you know, that's the equivalent.
01:49:27.000 You know, someone shooting a three-pointer in your face.
01:49:29.000 But like you said, you have a guy who's really talented, has the knowledge, and how much longer could Jordan have played if this would have been around when he was here?
01:49:38.000 It's going to be interesting.
01:49:39.000 It's definitely going to change the sports world.
01:49:41.000 It is, and you've got to wonder, you know, this stuff they're doing with stem cells, they're regrowing cartilage.
01:49:47.000 People that have bone-on-bone arthritis, they inject them with stem cells and it regrows cartilage, it regrows meniscus tissue.
01:49:54.000 It's insane.
01:49:55.000 So all these people that have these chronic ailments and injuries, they're going to be able to get those things fixed, and all the detrimental effects of constant competition, they're slowly but surely going to be able to chip away at that stuff.
01:50:09.000 It's true.
01:50:09.000 They're getting rid of arthritis.
01:50:11.000 Arthritis, just the stuff that they're doing out there now.
01:50:13.000 Those injections, arthritis goes away.
01:50:16.000 You know, all the inflammation in your body that's going on.
01:50:20.000 It's going to be fascinating to see how this Yeah, and it's going to be fascinating to see what kind of regulations, if any, are they going to be able to establish to keep up with that stuff.
01:50:33.000 How would they even know?
01:50:34.000 How would you even know if a guy was doing that?
01:50:36.000 Well, Nowitzki was telling me when he did my podcast that there's an issue that they're having now with they have testosterone that they've developed through animals.
01:50:46.000 The way they make Artificial testosterone or synthetic testosterone is they use wild yams.
01:50:53.000 I don't understand the process, but they use yams.
01:50:56.000 So when they use a carbon isotope test, they can tell that the testosterone that's in your body is not endogenous.
01:51:03.000 It's not created by your own body.
01:51:04.000 But with this animal shit, they can't tell.
01:51:08.000 So the testosterone they're getting from like, I don't know, wild boars or what the fuck they're using for the testosterone, it's the same as the testosterone that's being cooked up right now in little Tony's nuts.
01:51:19.000 That's nuts.
01:51:20.000 And what's crazy is...
01:51:22.000 The...
01:51:26.000 He was telling me that there's this thing right now that, you know those strips that you put on your tongue like mouthwash and you know what I'm talking about?
01:51:34.000 There's actually, they have these strips that they're putting on their tongue and it gives you all the effects of You know, like a growth hormone or testosterone injections or whatever it is,
01:51:49.000 and it's out of your system in 12 hours.
01:51:52.000 So if you take that before you go on a workout and you do your whole workout and everything, you get all the benefits of it, and then it's out of your system in 12 hours.
01:51:59.000 That's incredible.
01:52:00.000 I mean, that's incredible.
01:52:01.000 They're calling that microdosing, right?
01:52:03.000 Yeah.
01:52:04.000 But these guys, they're really playing Russian roulette with the testing because they're just hoping they don't get nabbed inside that 12-hour period.
01:52:13.000 Exactly.
01:52:13.000 That's why when the drug testers show up, they're showing up at your house at 6 in the morning.
01:52:18.000 Yeah.
01:52:18.000 Yeah.
01:52:21.000 It's really interesting times because it's been pretty clearly established that at least the early days of the UFC and the early days of Pride, period, there was a lot of performance enhancing drug use.
01:52:32.000 There was a lot of it.
01:52:34.000 Off the record, I've talked to guys who did it, who were in Pride, who told me that everybody was doing it, and on the record, Ensign Inouye told me when he was on my podcast that they had, in the fucking contract they gave him, it said, we will not test for steroids.
01:52:48.000 In the contract.
01:52:49.000 But we know it when we watch.
01:52:51.000 You watch Vanderlei at 218 pounds and you see all these fucking guys who are competing over there.
01:52:57.000 We kind of knew they were juiced up.
01:52:59.000 It's going to be interesting to see the culture of the sport transition to, you know, as clean as you can get it.
01:53:06.000 And, you know, you guys have to take...
01:53:08.000 You guys have to be given credit for that because you stepped up and you did something that was very dangerous, very dangerous for the product, very dangerous for the reputation of the sport because as more of these people keep getting popped, and you're spending fucking millions of dollars to do this,
01:53:24.000 and these guys are getting popped where you could just do what the NFL does, the NBA does, kind of turn a blind eye.
01:53:31.000 No one's begging you to do this or forcing you to do this.
01:53:35.000 I'm not sure if it's the NFL or Major League Baseball or one of them, they get warned that they're going to get tested.
01:53:41.000 Yes.
01:53:41.000 They know that the test is coming.
01:53:44.000 Well, that happens in college sports, too.
01:53:46.000 I mean, I've talked to guys who play college ball, and they say, hey, Friday is going to be a test.
01:53:50.000 And everybody's fucking drinking vinegar and gallons of water and trying to clear the system.
01:53:56.000 But you're right when you say this.
01:53:57.000 When you look at what we're doing right now to clean the sport up, You know, we have contracts in place, how many fights we have to deliver, not just to television, but pay-per-view and, you know, all these things that we have.
01:54:08.000 We have contracts, we have obligations.
01:54:10.000 Yeah, we're going to spend $5 million a year in testing.
01:54:14.000 And in testing, it could completely cripple the entire business, but it's the right thing to do.
01:54:20.000 It's the right thing to do.
01:54:21.000 Yeah, I definitely don't think it's going to cripple the business.
01:54:24.000 But I think it's definitely going to weed out...
01:54:26.000 If a guy gets tested, you get a big star, and he's on something, he's gone.
01:54:33.000 Isn't that a big problem, too, with camps?
01:54:35.000 It's not like the NFL, where they have this giant infrastructure set up for...
01:54:41.000 They know, like, I mean, there's some variables when it comes to strength and conditioning training in many professional sports, but they have protocols that are pretty clearly established.
01:54:51.000 Whereas in MMA, there's a bunch of different ways to do it, and these guys that compete at a very high level that have really wacky camp environments, where you're like, you know, this is not really the most professional, they're hanging out with, like that fucking guy that Anderson hangs around with, the guy from Black House,
01:55:06.000 a 60-year-old guy who looks like Arnold Schwarzenegger, You know what I mean?
01:55:10.000 I mean, like, what do you think that guy does?
01:55:12.000 Oh, nothing.
01:55:13.000 Just fucking fruits and vegetables, steak and chicken.
01:55:16.000 I mean, come on, man.
01:55:17.000 The fuck you guys juiced to the tits.
01:55:19.000 And no wonder, you know, Anderson tested positive.
01:55:22.000 Oh, then no way.
01:55:23.000 Is he hanging out with that guy?
01:55:24.000 Why would that guy tell him the positive benefits of steroids?
01:55:28.000 You know?
01:55:28.000 It's weird.
01:55:29.000 It's weird.
01:55:30.000 You know, the sport is so big, but has...
01:55:34.000 That aspect of it still, that there's, you know, it's not universal, not across the board.
01:55:40.000 Like, look, the Kansas City Royals and the Los Angeles Dodgers, how much fucking difference is their training?
01:55:46.000 How much difference is their preparation?
01:55:48.000 I would say probably not nearly as much as comparing someone who trains at Nova Uniao or someone who trains at AMC Pancration, you know?
01:55:56.000 I mean, the variables in MMA, they're pretty stark.
01:56:00.000 No, I agree.
01:56:01.000 Yeah, that's true.
01:56:03.000 And...
01:56:05.000 We're working now.
01:56:06.000 The training has to evolve.
01:56:08.000 We're building this new campus.
01:56:11.000 Basically, we're building new offices and building a state-of-the-art rehabilitation center for fighters.
01:56:20.000 And it's like the New England Patriots, right?
01:56:24.000 If something happens to Brady, they don't tell Brady, see you later, come back, go do your surgery and all your stuff and come back and let us know when you're ready to play again.
01:56:33.000 He's there.
01:56:34.000 They're making sure he's doing therapy.
01:56:37.000 He's got the best.
01:56:37.000 That's what we're going to start doing with the fighters in Vegas.
01:56:41.000 How do you set something like that up?
01:56:43.000 Who do you have running?
01:56:45.000 We're actually looking at companies right now to come in.
01:56:50.000 We're going to find the best of the best.
01:56:51.000 This will literally be a state-of-the-art The best in the world rehab facility.
01:56:58.000 It's gonna be insane.
01:57:00.000 We're gonna have everything.
01:57:01.000 We're gonna have everything in there to rehab.
01:57:03.000 We're gonna have the...
01:57:07.000 There's therapists and trainers in there to show people how to get...
01:57:10.000 A lot of these guys will go get an ACL done and then not do the therapy when they come back.
01:57:18.000 You might as well not have the fucking surgery.
01:57:20.000 You have to go through the physical therapy to get it back.
01:57:23.000 And then you have to keep working on that leg.
01:57:29.000 Conor McGregor.
01:57:30.000 That's another fascinating thing.
01:57:32.000 His whole thing about movement, human movement and flexibility and stuff.
01:57:36.000 He's very into that.
01:57:37.000 He fought the Chad Mendez fight with a really blown out knee.
01:57:44.000 What did he do?
01:57:45.000 Did he get stem cell shots while he was doing that?
01:57:49.000 He went out to Germany and got those shots.
01:57:53.000 Germany?
01:57:53.000 He went to Germany.
01:57:55.000 He's in Ireland.
01:57:56.000 He just went over to Germany and got those shots.
01:57:59.000 He did some in California too.
01:58:02.000 He did do some in LA too when he was out in Vegas.
01:58:06.000 And that's all he needed.
01:58:07.000 He did that and he did his own physical therapy and he brought the knee right back.
01:58:12.000 Well, that's what's incredible about the stem cell shit, man.
01:58:14.000 The regenerative potential for stem cells is just incredible.
01:58:21.000 And they're just now starting to tap into that when it comes to sports and rehabilitation.
01:58:26.000 When you're establishing this place, this whole center, are you going to establish strength and conditioning protocols too?
01:58:34.000 Are you going to bring people in for that kind of stuff as well?
01:58:37.000 Yeah.
01:58:37.000 And like movement specific, like different guys who are strikers working on certain things, different guys who are grapplers working on certain things?
01:58:45.000 I don't think we're going to get into the striking and grappling.
01:58:48.000 That's not our area.
01:58:49.000 That's not our thing.
01:58:50.000 They can pick their own coaches and who they'll work with on that.
01:58:52.000 But I mean as far as like strength and conditioning aspects of that.
01:58:56.000 Body balance, you know, the proper strength, conditioning, stretch, you know, all the things that they're definitely not learning at their gyms.
01:59:06.000 Right.
01:59:07.000 There's so much to learn.
01:59:09.000 There's a lot of coaches, like Edmund is a good example.
01:59:12.000 He's obviously good at holding mitts and good at teaching Ron to the mechanics of throwing punches.
01:59:17.000 How much does he know about defending guillotines?
01:59:19.000 How much does he know about the transitions between boxing and grappling?
01:59:23.000 We really don't know.
01:59:25.000 And I think the same could be said as far as what are the requirements of your sport when it comes to strength and conditioning.
01:59:32.000 It's still kind of being learned.
01:59:35.000 And everybody does things differently.
01:59:36.000 For every guy like GSP that thinks you have to use gymnastics, there's certain guys like Fedor gave up on all weights and any strength and conditioning later in his career and just did fight training, you know?
01:59:47.000 And then you look at Jon Jones right now who's totally getting into all this powerlifting stuff.
01:59:52.000 Have you seen some of that stuff?
01:59:54.000 Oh my god, he looks huge.
01:59:55.000 It's unbelievable.
01:59:56.000 What a freak of nature that guy is.
01:59:59.000 He really is.
02:00:00.000 I'm hoping he straightens his head out and comes back because we want to talk about just a spectacular talent.
02:00:07.000 I mean, Jon Jones is probably the most talented guy we've ever seen in the sport.
02:00:11.000 I mean, it is...
02:00:14.000 He's just an incredible athlete, and what he's been able to do to top-level fighters really early on in his career is nothing short of amazing.
02:00:22.000 If he has a wake-up call from all this and just cuts the bullshit and focuses on just taking advantage of the prime, because he's in his prime.
02:00:33.000 He's in his prime.
02:00:34.000 He's in his prime.
02:00:35.000 He's so big, so talented, such a gifted athlete.
02:00:39.000 I mean, you look at, like you said, what he's done in the sport.
02:00:43.000 Then you look at What he's doing now, he just gets into powerlifting and he's benching 500 pounds and squatting, deadlifting 600 pounds.
02:00:51.000 I mean, it's crazy.
02:00:52.000 And he could fight at fucking heavyweight, too, by the way, easily.
02:00:55.000 He keeps powerlifting.
02:00:56.000 He's probably going to have to.
02:00:57.000 I know, right?
02:00:58.000 Yeah, but it's cool.
02:01:00.000 It looks like he's doing the right thing now.
02:01:04.000 He's doing what he's supposed to be doing for his community service.
02:01:09.000 It looks like he's working hard in the gym.
02:01:11.000 You know...
02:01:12.000 Looks like his head's into it and he likes it.
02:01:14.000 And you know, we were talking about inspiration.
02:01:16.000 Look, he's in camp now with the fucking woman's bantamweight champ of the world.
02:01:21.000 Holly Holm is definitely going to give John some inspiration because I know they're close friends.
02:01:25.000 Yeah, that's cool.
02:01:26.000 That's fucking awesome.
02:01:28.000 I think we gave these people enough.
02:01:30.000 Let's end this bitch podcast on a plane.
02:01:33.000 Oh, look at this.
02:01:34.000 We did another hour and 27 minutes.
02:01:37.000 Shazam.
02:01:37.000 Holy shit.
02:01:38.000 Look at that.
02:01:38.000 Two hours.
02:01:39.000 Yeah.
02:01:40.000 See, time flies when we talk, Dana White.
02:01:42.000 Good lord.
02:01:43.000 This is going to be the first podcast to win an Emmy.
02:01:46.000 You have to be on TV to win one of those, dude.
02:01:48.000 Like I said...
02:01:50.000 We're changing the game.
02:01:51.000 Alright, well, this is the end of this.
02:01:53.000 Thanks, brother.
02:01:54.000 Appreciate it.
02:01:55.000 Tony Hinchcliffe, say goodbye to the people.
02:01:57.000 Goodbye, people.
02:01:58.000 Tony Hinchcliffe.
02:01:59.000 Tony Hinchcliffe.
02:02:00.000 One hour special, one shot, coming soon.
02:02:02.000 My first special.
02:02:03.000 Might be on Netflix.
02:02:04.000 I mean, that's what I heard.
02:02:05.000 Might be.
02:02:06.000 Any more message to the fan?
02:02:09.000 Any word?
02:02:09.000 Nothing?
02:02:10.000 Anything you want to say?
02:02:10.000 No, thanks.
02:02:11.000 It was a historic night.
02:02:13.000 You know, Ronda Rousey vs.
02:02:15.000 Holly Holm broke every record UFC ever had, and thank you everybody.
02:02:19.000 We appreciate it.
02:02:20.000 Attendance, pay-per-view buys, everything?
02:02:23.000 Attendance, the Etihad...
02:02:27.000 Gross record, the gate record, the merch, the commercial pay-per-view, the pay-per-view's trending well over a million buys.
02:02:40.000 What else?
02:02:41.000 I'm trying to think.
02:02:41.000 There were so many records that were broken that night.
02:02:44.000 It was crazy.
02:02:45.000 Now here's the last question.
02:02:46.000 If you do do a rematch, when do you think you would do it?
02:02:49.000 Would you try to do it for UFC 200 in July?
02:02:53.000 I don't know.
02:02:54.000 Again, we gotta see where Ronda's at and we'll figure it out.
02:02:58.000 I mean, obviously, UFT 200 would be awesome.
02:03:02.000 That would be the move, right?
02:03:03.000 Alright, folks.
02:03:05.000 That's it.
02:03:05.000 That's the end.
02:03:07.000 Thank you and goodbye.
02:03:13.000 Oh, are you still here?
02:03:15.000 Well, if you are, please enjoy the lovely sounds of Dana White snoring on the flight home from Australia.
