00:00:19.220 Meanwhile, leftists repeatedly commit actual violence against conservatives,
00:00:23.640 including little old me during a campus lecture last Thursday.
00:00:26.680 We will expose the left's sham grievance games from Ilhan Omar to Nancy Pelosi.
00:00:32.240 I'm Michael Knowles, and this is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:00:41.520 You never really want to be the story.
00:00:44.280 I guess it makes show preparation a little bit easier, but we will talk about this
00:00:48.720 because it fits into a broader story on left-wing violence and incitements to violence.
00:00:55.900 Because when I was giving a speech at the University of Missouri-Kansas City last week,
00:00:59.780 some leftist wacko tried to attack me.
00:01:02.800 We'll get to that in a second.
00:01:03.820 But first, do you ever buy something online only to find out later you missed a discount?
00:01:08.300 I don't overspend anymore thanks to Honey.

00:01:35.720 The last thing I bought was watch straps.
00:01:38.340 I wanted new watch straps.

00:01:45.780 But I've been using it for years.
00:01:47.160 I've been using it for everything.

00:02:17.020 That's joinhoney.com slash covfefe.
00:02:19.980 C-O-V-F-E-F-E.
00:02:21.920 Honey, the smart shopping assistant that saves you time and money when you're shopping online.
00:02:26.520 We'll get to left-wing violence in a second, in a history of violence.
00:02:32.700 But I guess on the same topic, we're getting breaking news now.
00:02:36.900 The cathedral, Notre Dame, is on fire.
00:02:40.700 And it's not just a little fire.
00:02:42.380 It is a fire that is engulfing the whole thing.
00:02:45.620 We don't yet have word as to whether this was caused by a terrorist attack or whether it was just an accident.
00:02:54.080 I know they're doing renovation on the cathedral.
00:02:56.980 It looks as though one of the West's most important landmarks, one of the most important works of art in the history of Western civilization is currently being destroyed.
00:03:11.420 It is burning to the ground.
00:03:12.980 I just looked up on the Wikipedia page for Notre Dame.
00:03:16.500 The Wikipedia page now says Notre Dame Cathedral was a medieval Catholic cathedral on the Ile de la Cité in Paris.
00:03:25.940 Was.
00:03:27.560 This is just in the last few minutes that's being reported.
00:03:30.280 We will update you as news comes in.
00:03:34.580 It's being reported now as probably an accident.
00:03:37.920 The only reason that terrorism seems possible, one, is because there have been a lot of other terrorist attacks in Europe and especially in France on important places.
00:03:48.120 Also because today is the first day of Holy Week.
00:03:50.920 Today is the Monday of Holy Week.
00:03:52.940 Holy Week leads into the Passion, Good Friday, and Easter Sunday.
00:03:57.440 To attack the cathedral of Our Lady, that's what Notre Dame means, at the beginning of Holy Week, would have a lot of significance.
00:04:07.580 Even if it is just an accident, it certainly has a lot of significance to Christians around the world, obviously to the people of France.
00:04:12.920 So we'll keep you posted on that, that little bit of violence.
00:04:17.620 As for, more broadly speaking, political violence in the United States, I guess, I guess I'm the story today, at least, because there was this event last Thursday at the University of Missouri, Kansas City.
00:04:32.520 Many of you watched it.
00:04:33.660 I was invited to give a lecture there on the topic, Men Are Not Women.
00:04:39.340 Pretty basic topic.
00:04:40.760 If you took a time machine back to five years ago and told people that that would be a controversial topic in five years, they would laugh in your face.
00:04:48.900 So I go there and I give this talk.
00:04:52.640 I try to give this talk.
00:04:53.880 From the very beginning, there was a group of about a dozen leftists screaming like banshees, screaming so loudly the other people in the room could not hear it.
00:05:05.460 Some of the people on video could hear because I was speaking directly into a microphone that was being broadcast.
00:05:10.380 People in the room couldn't because these leftists screamed like hyenas for consistently for about 20 minutes.
00:05:18.180 Eventually, they get up and they go to leave and they're screaming all these crazy things at me.
00:05:22.260 And then from behind me, out of my periphery, some leftist thug wearing a face mask, the bandana, comes in and he squirts some unknown chemical at me, which had a very strong smell and it had a weird color.
00:05:35.980 What he didn't realize is that the police were right by that door.
00:05:38.820 They dropped him to the ground in a matter of seconds.
00:05:41.480 They arrested him very quickly.
00:05:43.520 He was fighting back.
00:05:44.840 He did not count on there being any consequences to this.
00:05:47.800 So I went on, I made some jokes about it and tried to push on with the speech.
00:05:53.560 It was first then reported that it was paint that the guy tried to spray on me.
00:05:58.320 That's kind of what I thought it was.
00:05:59.540 Then a lot of people in the room who were closer to where the super soaker full of this chemical was were reporting that it was bleach.
00:06:08.440 So obviously, it seems like the authorities in the room thought that this could be a dangerous chemical, which is why they responded so quickly.
00:06:15.620 It later found out, or we later found out it was non-toxic household chemicals.
00:06:21.920 It seems pretty clear that the kid, this, this attacker was trying to give the impression that it was some sort of dangerous chemical, but he wanted to avoid multiple felonies on his record.
00:06:31.480 So probably that was smart for him.
00:06:34.440 Regardless, the point of this is pretty clear.
00:06:36.780 First of all, it could have been anything that he was hurling onto a conservative speaker.
00:06:40.380 And what it really seems to be is a warning shot, which is that if you don't shut up, if you don't kowtow to leftist orthodoxy, you will be intimidated, you'll be shouted down, and ultimately, you'll be physically attacked.
00:06:56.020 Don't forget, they didn't start out trying to physically attack me.
00:06:59.200 They started out just trying to scream me down and hoping that I would leave and shut up.
00:07:03.220 Now, when, only when I didn't do that, did this guy bust in and try to hurl some liquid on me.
00:07:11.680 That was the ultimate point.
00:07:13.540 So we know that this kind of violence has happened at universities.
00:07:17.260 I'm not the first conservative speaker to be attacked.
00:07:19.280 Charles Murray's been attacked.
00:07:20.680 I think Christina Hoff Summers was attacked.
00:07:22.600 This has happened at other places.
00:07:24.360 The more shocking thing here was the response.
00:07:30.140 The response of the university, the chancellor of the University of Missouri-Kansas City, Molly Agrawal, and the response of the Kansas City Star, and the mainstream media more broadly.
00:07:43.180 What the left is doing here is trying to equate violence with nonviolence.
00:07:48.200 That's the big takeaway.
00:07:51.140 They've been doing it not just to me in this story.
00:07:53.080 Over the past three days, they've done it to President Trump.
00:07:54.900 They've done it to Dan Crenshaw.
00:07:56.200 They're trying to equate violence with nonviolence.
00:07:59.140 The university's reaction, next morning, a letter comes out from the chancellor's office.
00:08:03.840 I expect there to be an apology to an invited speaker who was harassed and then assaulted.
00:08:11.600 No, no, no.
00:08:13.000 Here's the letter from Chancellor Molly Agrawal.
00:08:16.420 A student group brought a speaker to campus.
00:08:18.880 A speaker whose professed opinions do not align with our commitment to diversity and inclusion and our goal of providing a welcoming environment to all people, particularly to our LGBT community.
00:08:30.640 First of all, what's my stated opinion?
00:08:36.200 The topic of the speech is men are not women.
00:08:40.440 The university doesn't agree with that?
00:08:42.620 The university thinks men are women?
00:08:44.720 Also, the irony, they said this doesn't speak to our values of diversity.
00:08:52.040 I'm the only one talking about diversity.
00:08:54.160 I'm saying there's a diversity of sexes.
00:08:55.760 I'm saying there's diversity between men and women.
00:08:58.560 You're the one saying that the sexes are completely homogenous.
00:09:01.940 There's no such thing as women.
00:09:03.320 There's only one sex.
00:09:04.780 We're all the same.
00:09:05.840 There's no difference between men and women.
00:09:07.400 But more broadly, this guy opens up his letter not by condemning violence on campus, not by condemning the heckler's veto and these banshee behaving students who should be expelled from the university.
00:09:22.460 No, no, no.
00:09:23.800 He opens up the letter by baselessly smearing the invited speaker as some sort of bigot.
00:09:30.280 He said, my opinions are not welcoming to the LGBT community.
00:09:39.200 I'm some sort of anti-gay bigot.
00:09:42.640 Now, does he cite any of the opinions that are apparently so bigoted?
00:09:46.300 No, of course not, because he can't.
00:09:48.560 What could he say?
00:09:51.300 But that's how he begins.
00:09:52.600 So you can see where the letter is going to go from there.
00:09:54.700 He says, upon learning of this speaker's visit, members of the UMKC community responded in the best way by organizing and conducting a counter event across campus Thursday afternoon focused on positive messages about diversity and inclusion.
00:10:09.080 First of all, that's not the best way to respond.
00:10:11.760 The best way would be to go and listen to the speaker and then at a different time hold another event where people who disagree with you will go and then you will discuss these differing ideas and people can come to their own conclusions.
00:10:23.760 But to try to just distract from the event and try to pull people away from that, that actually isn't the best way to respond.
00:10:32.320 He goes on.
00:10:34.240 Even during the speech, some peaceful protesters stood and expressed disagreement with the speaker's views.
00:10:41.300 Then, unfortunately, some others crossed a line.
00:10:44.020 No, no, what happened during the speech is from the very moment that I started to speak, these activists shrieked so loudly that nobody could hear the speech.
00:10:56.700 If a university chancellor believes that that is one of the best ways to respond, then he is a disgrace to higher education.
00:11:05.340 Molly Agrawal is a disgrace to American higher education, to liberal education.
00:11:11.200 He should resign.
00:11:12.900 He should be pressured by the trustees and the alumni and the governor and the students to resign.
00:11:20.080 That is an outrage.
00:11:21.900 What he is saying in that letter is that the best way to engage with ideas that we might not understand or that we might think that we disagree with or that we maybe never have heard before
00:11:31.840 is to scream at the top of our lungs like little children, like toddlers, until they are cowered and intimidated into leaving.
00:11:41.360 Molly Agrawal, the chancellor of UMKC, should resign or else the trustees, the alumni and the governor are sending a message
00:11:51.260 to every other college to every other college in the country that it's perfectly fine to shout down speakers and to shout down views that are not trendy or faddish at the time.
00:12:04.280 A lot more to get to, but first, paid for by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, NHTSA is working hard to combat texting while driving.
00:12:12.940 Cops are writing tickets for people who text while driving.
00:12:15.920 You drive, you text, you pay.
00:12:17.780 Thousands of people die every year in crashes related to distracted driving.
00:12:21.900 And cops are writing tickets for people who text while driving.
00:12:24.760 Texting and driving isn't just a dangerous problem.
00:12:26.720 It is deadly.
00:12:27.780 In fact, thousands of people die every year in crashes related to distracted driving.
00:12:32.380 That's why cops are out writing tickets to those who text while driving and they're doing it to save lives.
00:12:36.960 20,000 people died between 2012 and 2017 in crashes involving a distracted driver.
00:12:43.100 Think about how stupid you would feel if you died because you had to send some emoji to your buddy.
00:12:48.800 Imagine how stupid you would feel.
00:12:50.480 And imagine how much worse you would feel if you caused harm to somebody else, if you, God forbid, killed somebody else because you had to send one text.
00:12:57.940 Don't do it.
00:12:58.600 If you text while driving, you will get caught.
00:13:01.020 You drive, you text, you pay.
00:13:03.220 It's not just dangerous, it is deadly.
00:13:05.180 When you drive while distracted, you're three times more likely to crash.
00:13:09.080 Far too many people still don't recognize those dangers.
00:13:12.380 When you take your eyes off the road to text for five seconds, at 55 miles an hour, that is like driving more than the length of a football field with your eyes closed.
00:13:21.060 If you text while driving, you will get caught.
00:13:23.840 You drive, you text, you pay.
00:13:27.400 So this disgrace to higher education, Molly Agrawal, goes on.
00:13:32.480 After defending the heckler's veto, after baselessly smearing an invited speaker as some sort of bigot, he goes on.
00:13:42.140 Imagine this.
00:13:43.360 Imagine the message this university is sending out.
00:13:46.900 To say, hey, speakers, we'd like you to come to campus.
00:13:51.820 We'd like you to fly across the country, take time out of your schedules to come here and give a speech.
00:13:56.420 Oh, and by the way, we're going to defend harassment and the heckler's veto.
00:14:03.520 We're not really going to condemn political violence, at least not primarily.
00:14:08.000 And we'll get to that eventually, maybe.
00:14:09.800 And by the way, we're going to baselessly smear you as a bigot.
00:14:12.440 But come on, that's what the university is for.
00:14:14.940 He goes on, he says,
00:14:15.980 I mention this one because in 2019, the opinion that men are not women is an extreme point of view.
00:14:36.120 We hear a lot of sort of moral equivalence between the left and the right.
00:14:42.320 Oh, well, you know, the left, they do their crazy things.
00:14:45.060 On the right, they do their crazy things.
00:14:46.720 And oh, come on, it's not.
00:14:48.640 No, no, no, no.
00:14:51.060 The left is saying, a chancellor of an American university, a state university,
00:14:55.580 who is a left winger, is saying that the point of view that men are not women is extreme.
00:15:03.940 And then the right is saying, men are not women.
00:15:08.600 Those are not equally extreme, crazy viewpoints.
00:15:12.480 One of those is radical and the other is common sense.
00:15:17.320 No equivalence whatsoever.
00:15:19.440 He says,
00:15:24.060 We continue to urge everyone in our UMKC community and the broader community
00:15:28.320 to stay true to our values in the face of provocation.
00:15:32.160 Provocation.
00:15:33.420 Listen to these words.
00:15:34.700 And to respond to bias and intolerance with reason and courage.
00:15:39.860 To hardened attitudes with open minds and honest questions.
00:15:44.440 To false statements with calm, fact-based challenges.
00:15:48.600 Listen to what this disgrace does in this letter.
00:15:53.420 He says that the students need to respond to provocation in this way.
00:15:58.380 As though I was begging to go visit UMKC.
00:16:02.660 I was begging to fly across the country to give the lecture.
00:16:05.780 Please let me come, please.
00:16:08.080 I'll pay you.
00:16:08.800 Let me come.
00:16:11.480 I was invited to the school.
00:16:15.060 Your school, Molly Agrawal, the school that you represent,
00:16:18.320 invited me to come.
00:16:20.120 That's not provocation.
00:16:21.080 You provoked me, if anything.
00:16:24.740 Provocation.
00:16:25.760 You invited me to speak on a specific topic.
00:16:28.880 Which I then did.
00:16:30.660 And for that grave mistake that I apparently made,
00:16:34.740 taking Molly Agrawal, it is on face value,
00:16:38.360 for that crazy mistake, I was harassed and physically assaulted.
00:16:44.420 And then smeared as a bigot.
00:16:45.600 And then smeared as a provocateur.
00:16:47.640 And then smeared as an extremist.
00:16:49.640 Because I don't think men and women are exactly the same.
00:16:52.040 Bias and intolerance.
00:16:57.780 That's how he describes men are not women.
00:17:00.500 Hardened attitude.
00:17:02.140 That's how he describes a guy giving what is actually basically a fairly boring speech,
00:17:07.240 because it's on a very basic topic.
00:17:09.000 That's the hardened attitude.
00:17:10.460 But the lunatics shrieking and assaulting people,
00:17:13.720 that's, no, that's open-minded.
00:17:15.080 That's nice.
00:17:15.640 And a false statement.
00:17:18.040 Men are not women.
00:17:18.960 According to this disgrace, is a false statement.
00:17:25.380 His reaction, obviously ridiculous.
00:17:28.000 The mainstream media's reaction, even worse.
00:17:31.500 Even worse.
00:17:32.500 The Kansas City Star, I didn't realize how insanely left-wing this newspaper is.
00:17:38.780 Because you sometimes think, okay, the main outlets, NBC, CBS,
00:17:43.360 the cable outlets, CNN, MSNBC,
00:17:45.500 those are going to be really left-wing.
00:17:46.840 Local news, they don't have as much of a bias.
00:17:49.720 The Kansas City Star is a more radical left-wing outlet
00:17:52.640 than any I have seen in the country.
00:17:56.240 Any mainstream.
00:17:58.560 This is how they covered it.
00:18:01.400 They said, quote,
00:18:03.880 Protester arrested during Speaker's anti-transgender talk at UMKC.
00:18:10.320 Anti-transgender talk.
00:18:11.680 Apparently, the statement, men are not women, is now an anti-transgender talk.
00:18:18.260 ABC News said the same thing.
00:18:19.820 Student charged over protest at anti-transgender speech.
00:18:23.360 So you see the picture they're painting.
00:18:25.940 That I'm some sort of hateful bigot who wants to target people
00:18:31.820 because of some psychological issue they have.
00:18:35.140 Anti-transgender.
00:18:36.360 Now, of course, none of these can quote a single line from the speech
00:18:40.160 to back up their libel, their defamation, their smears, their dirt.
00:18:46.680 You know why they can't do that?
00:18:47.780 Because it's not there.
00:18:48.920 So they have to make it up, and they have to insinuate,
00:18:52.000 and then they move on.
00:18:55.320 The Associated Press did the same thing.
00:18:57.040 Anti-transgender.
00:18:57.980 So they set this up with this completely baseless narrative of bigotry.
00:19:04.800 And then, then they move on to the next step,
00:19:07.660 which is reversing the responsibility for the attack.
00:19:11.240 So the Kansas City Star says,
00:19:13.560 conservative commentator Michael Knowles
00:19:16.080 inflamed students when he spoke at University of Missouri-Kansas City on April 11th.
00:19:22.220 So you see, it's not that leftist lunatics attacked a speaker
00:19:27.320 who was giving a speech he was invited to give.
00:19:29.180 No, no, no.
00:19:30.460 I have the active verb here.
00:19:32.440 I inflamed the students.
00:19:35.120 It's even got the word flame in it.
00:19:36.500 That sounds pretty dangerous.
00:19:39.300 They do this because they need to equate speech with violence.
00:19:45.060 They need to equate speech with violence
00:19:46.920 because they need to justify their violence.
00:19:49.920 If I was just giving a talk on a very common sense topic
00:19:54.020 and then some guy assaults me,
00:19:55.840 well, that doesn't look very good for the left, does it?
00:19:58.180 But if I was inflaming students
00:20:00.600 by saying that men are not women,
00:20:03.500 well, then it justifies his violence.
00:20:06.800 This is the flip side of this classic line we hear.
00:20:10.260 Conservatives pounce.
00:20:13.040 Conservatives pounce.
00:20:14.300 What do they pounce on?
00:20:15.240 What do they seize on?
00:20:16.880 They put the responsibility on me.
00:20:19.220 The Kansas City Star is saying that I deserved it.
00:20:22.400 By the way, we have a clip of it.
00:20:23.680 Here is, here's what happened.
00:20:25.680 I was trying to give the speech.
00:20:26.960 A lot of these students are walking out
00:20:28.420 and then all of a sudden this lunatic bumps in
00:20:30.600 and tries to squirt me with some chemical.
00:20:32.000 A lot of these student
00:20:33.380 and these students are walking out of the sky,
00:20:34.020 again on the edge of the sky.
00:20:35.100 They put the 65 in a little tent.
00:20:36.500 They put the culpa on their way into the sky,
00:20:38.940 because it feels like they can walk out of the sky.
00:20:40.680 They give the students a bit near the sky,
00:20:41.180 kid that they need to be walking out of the sky.
00:20:43.220 They have to be here at home.
00:20:44.380 Okay. I'm laughing at their reaction at the end. This masked lunatic comes in with this
00:21:11.940 squirt gun full of, we didn't know what chemical and shoots it at me. And then the cops thankfully
00:21:18.560 take him down. And then they start yelling, hands up, don't shoot. Not at the guy who shot the thing
00:21:24.960 out of the squirt gun, but at the cops who were taking him down, the masked assailant.
00:21:30.860 And they were using a line that never happened in the first place. Hands up, don't shoot. This
00:21:35.920 was a fiction pushed by the violent left to gin up sentiment against cops who they said
00:21:41.940 wrongly shot Michael Brown. When was that? 2015. Total fiction. Did not happen. Read the grand
00:21:50.260 jury report. But that's the power of a narrative. So you see there, is there any inflaming? Is there
00:21:59.460 any, no, no, no. This masked lunatic busts in. Thankfully the cops take him down. You see it on
00:22:07.640 the video. There's video of it everywhere. Okay. Then the KC star goes on. Kansas city star says
00:22:15.000 protester at right wing UMKC event arrested. But was the speaker hoping for a disruption?
00:22:21.400 Young woman wearing a short skirt was raped, but was she asking for it? That's what they're saying.
00:22:30.520 That's, that is the exact logical progression that the Kansas city star is saying. Mike Fannin
00:22:36.440 is the editor of the Kansas city star. That's what he's saying. Hey, Michael, your shirt was awful.
00:22:42.820 Score your shirt, your skirt was awful short. Weren't you asking for it? Weren't you hoping to be as,
00:22:49.800 yeah, you probably loved it. You probably loved having a masked assailant come in and squirt you
00:22:54.960 with an unknown, strange smelling, weird colored chemical. You probably loved that, huh? Mike Fannin,
00:23:01.580 Kansas city star editor. He said, he starts out quote, an anti-transgender speech delivered at the
00:23:08.160 university of Missouri, Kansas city was orchestrated by an outside conservative group attempting to cause
00:23:15.080 disruption. Student leaders said Friday. Now I was there. I remember I got the invitation and
00:23:23.200 none of that is true. Not only is none of that true, it's all demonstrably false. One, the speech
00:23:30.620 was not derogatory toward any transgender people. It was not orchestrated by an outside conservative
00:23:39.060 group. We were invited by student conservatives on campus. They weren't attempting to cause
00:23:45.280 disruption. We were going to hold a private event where we were lecturing on this topic
00:23:49.640 that men are not women. We didn't tell the, the assailants that they had to come in and shoot us
00:23:55.700 with chemicals. We didn't tell people they had to come in and scream like banshees the whole time.
00:23:59.980 But the Kansas city star says, well, some student leaders said that. And so I don't know.
00:24:07.340 I mean, they said it. So if they said it right, I mean, we don't care if it's true. We're not
00:24:11.180 journalists. We're propagandists for the extreme left. Mike Fannin, Kansas city star.
00:24:16.480 This was an event to make us look bad, said justice horn, who is the first black openly gay president
00:24:22.660 of the UMKC student body. Okay. They used our platform. They used our name to bolster themselves.
00:24:31.060 Horn said he believes a right-leaning outside group targeted UMKC as a place of diversity and
00:24:36.980 inclusion in an effort to polarize the campus and make it appear intolerant. We made them appear.
00:24:44.520 We made it, we made them appear to be masked assailants, shooting chemicals at invited guests.
00:24:49.440 We made them appear to be screaming hyenas who cannot tolerate any lecture going on that contradicts
00:24:58.180 their orthodoxy. So they have to come show up to these other people's lecture and scream and shout
00:25:03.840 the whole time. And we, I guess we made them do it. It's probably selectively edited video, right?
00:25:09.360 Isn't that right? It's probably, it's probably deceptive, right? No, it's on video. You can see it,
00:25:18.040 but this is what they do. They can't take responsibility for anything. So they say,
00:25:23.860 Oh, you made us, you made us appear intolerant. We didn't have to make you appear intolerant.
00:25:29.020 You did just fine all by yourself. I said, it goes on Kansas city star, Mike Fannin's the editor
00:25:35.320 about 20 minutes into Knowles's speech laced with disparaging comments about transgender people.
00:25:41.420 Audience members began to boo. Again, that isn't true. The, the heckling and the harassing and the
00:25:48.180 shouting and the screaming started immediately. Also show me one disparaging comment about a
00:25:55.720 transgender person in my speech. Show me one comment. Mike Fannin, editor of the Kansas city
00:26:02.240 star, total hack, none. And then, so after all of that, after they tried to put the blame on
00:26:11.620 student conservatives who invited me to come speak on the people who were just peacefully trying to
00:26:16.280 listen to the lecture and on me who got squirted with some unknown chemical after trying to say
00:26:20.780 that it was actually our fault because we were asking for it because we were wearing short skirts
00:26:24.500 or something. After all that, then they just try to mock us. So this is my favorite one.
00:26:28.240 Again, Kansas city star editorial board, Mike Fannin's the editor at UMKC. A D-list conservative
00:26:35.020 was sad to be squirted with the makings of a bubble bath. You see, because it was non-toxic
00:26:40.800 household chemicals. So it was the makings of a bubble. I was sad. D-list conservative. By the way,
00:26:45.980 I've always prided myself on being a C-list conservative. All right. I've worked very hard
00:26:50.720 in my life to be a C-list conservative. Call me a D-list conservative. D-list conservative.
00:26:55.040 First of all, by the way, apparently I'm a prominent enough conservative for the Kansas
00:27:01.560 city star to write three separate editorials and op-eds in one day trying to deride campus
00:27:09.440 conservatives, trying to smear us as bigots and also publishing obvious untruths. I wonder if
00:27:16.380 there's any legal consequence to publishing untruths about people that are defamatory. I don't know. I
00:27:20.880 got to worry about that. He goes on. Knowles couldn't wait to claim victimhood. This is a tiny
00:27:26.940 tit for tiny tat. It's, it's the mutual trollery referred to as the debate over free speech on
00:27:34.200 campus. There's no mutual trollery. A conservative was giving a speech at a university. Leftists
00:27:41.760 attacked that speaker. That's not a tit for tat. That's not a tit for tat. You hacks.
00:27:51.480 But this is what they do. This is, it's not just about me. We'll get to,
00:27:56.500 it's not even just about the other speakers who get attacked on campuses. This goes all the way up
00:28:01.500 to Congress. This goes all the way up to the White House. This is what the left has been doing for 50
00:28:06.960 years. And, and we are now seeing the fruit of their ideology, which conflates speech with violence.
00:28:12.680 We'll get to it in a second. But first got to go to dailywire.com. If you want to watch the rest,
00:28:16.880 10 bucks a month, $100 for an annual membership. You get me, you get the Andrew Klavan show,
00:28:21.140 you get the Ben Shapiro show, you get the Matt Walsh show. You get to ask questions in the mailbag
00:28:24.600 coming up on Thursday. You get to ask questions backstage. You get the Leftist Tears Tumblr.
00:28:30.080 This is very important. Apparently, if you're ever passing through Kansas City,
00:28:35.800 you're going to want to have your Leftist Tears Tumblr with you. This is very,
00:28:39.300 very important stuff. I figured state of Missouri, you know, pretty normal state. Apparently not.
00:28:45.660 Apparently there are a lot of leftist lunatics there. You got to make sure you have your Leftist
00:28:49.480 Tears Tumblr. We'll be right back with a lot more.
00:28:51.820 So the Left conflates speech with violence. We see this in the language they use. They talk about
00:29:08.420 safe spaces. We need safe spaces. Now it's not safe from physical violence, you know, actual violence.
00:29:15.560 No, no. Safe spaces are safe from opinions that certain people don't like. Realities that certain
00:29:23.260 people don't like. But you need safe. Not just, oh, I don't know, intellectually homogenous spaces.
00:29:33.360 Not just politically correct spaces. No. Safe spaces. Because the implication here is that if you
00:29:40.140 have an opinion that is not in line with trends or fads or leftist orthodoxy, then you are actually
00:29:48.280 committing violence. And this brings us to probably the biggest national story right now, which is the
00:29:57.040 sad case of Ilan Omar. Ilan Omar is a terrible person. Ilan Omar regularly defends terrorists,
00:30:08.380 terrorist organizations, and she downplays terrorist actions.
00:30:15.820 Some people have criticized her for this. Like the President, like Congressman Dan Crenshaw,
00:30:21.460 great guy. Like me. Like other people. They've criticized her for defending terrorists,
00:30:28.100 defending terrorist organizations, and downplaying terrorist attacks. And now the Left is trying to
00:30:33.360 say that that very criticism is violence. They're saying that if you don't even criticize her,
00:30:45.120 but you just show Ilan Omar using her own words that that is inciting violence. If you show this video,
00:30:54.020 according to the Left, you're inciting violence.
00:30:55.640 CARE was founded after 9-11 because they recognized that some people did something
00:31:03.780 and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.
00:31:10.980 9-11, 3,000 American civilians killed. Ilan Omar, a member of Congress, says that some people did
00:31:17.620 something. If you show this video of Ilan Omar, you are now, according to the Left, inciting violence
00:31:24.620 against Ilan Omar.
00:31:25.580 Every time the professor said Al-Qaeda, he sort of, like, his shoulders went up and, you know,
00:31:33.520 Yeah, he's in command here.
00:31:34.720 Al-Qaeda, you know, hospital.
00:31:36.100 He's an expert.
00:31:38.100 And he was, you know, as...
00:31:39.720 What's his name?
00:31:40.400 We're putting his name on the area.
00:31:42.460 We are not saying his name.
00:31:44.760 You probably get to see him on CNN.
00:31:47.580 Yeah, of course. I love those guys.
00:31:49.440 But, you know, but it is that. You don't say America with an intensity. You don't say England
00:31:55.500 with an intensity. You know, you don't say the army with an intensity.
00:32:01.860 Al-Qaeda.
00:32:02.680 But you say these names because you want that word to carry weight.
00:32:09.340 So, not only does Ilan Omar say the words Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda with giddiness, laughing.
00:32:15.920 Hezbollah, Al-Qaeda.
00:32:17.360 But then, lest you think she's being taken out of context, she makes her point very clear.
00:32:26.220 She says, you don't say America and England and the army the same way that you say Hezbollah
00:32:32.500 and Al-Qaeda.
00:32:34.820 Right.
00:32:36.000 Because Hezbollah and Al-Qaeda are terrorist organizations.
00:32:40.500 And America is the greatest country in the history of the world, which comes from England.
00:32:45.720 Another one of the greatest countries in the history of the world.
00:32:50.380 It's protected by the army, which protects the greatest country in the history of the world.
00:32:56.220 What Ilan Omar is saying is America, England, the army, Al-Qaeda, Hamas, they're all basically
00:33:05.420 kind of the same thing.
00:33:07.880 That's why it's so strange that you say them differently.
00:33:12.380 Well, we all say them differently than she does because she's giddy when she says Al-Qaeda
00:33:16.420 and Hamas.
00:33:17.300 She's laughing.
00:33:18.020 Now, according to the left, to point that out, to show a video of her speaking is inciting
00:33:28.640 violence against Ilan Omar.
00:33:30.160 Sounds like Ilan Omar is inciting violence against herself, but actually she's not even
00:33:34.400 doing that.
00:33:35.060 She's just voicing an opinion, a terrible opinion, an awful opinion.
00:33:40.540 But that speech is not violence.
00:33:45.680 Even her saying those awful things is not inciting violence against herself.
00:33:51.600 Now, President Trump and Dan Crenshaw and I, and like everybody else on the right, everybody,
00:33:56.920 every right-thinking person, every right-thinking Democrat, a dwindling group of people, but
00:34:01.880 there are still some of them, have roundly condemned her for these remarks and others.
00:34:08.080 And now we're being told that this is inciting violence by none other than Laya Wather herself,
00:34:15.260 Elizabeth Warren, Senatrix, 2020 Democrat candidate.
00:34:19.060 Here she is saying Donald Trump, by showing a video of Ilan Omar, is inciting violence.
00:34:25.920 I have to say thank you for sending out a tweet so quickly last night defending Congressman
00:34:30.400 Omar and calling out Donald Trump's bigotry towards her, which, as you put it, was inciting
00:34:35.840 violence.
00:34:36.500 And it's scary for me.
00:34:37.420 What, what moved you to get involved so quickly on that?
00:34:39.980 Because that's what it is.
00:34:42.120 He's trying to incite violence.
00:34:44.160 He's trying to divide us as a country.
00:34:46.900 That's a dangerous, dangerous path to go down and not, not who we want to be as a nation.
00:34:55.880 That's a dangerous, dangerous path to go down.
00:34:58.660 You see, what Donald Trump's doing, Donald Trump's words are putting us on a dangerous,
00:35:06.580 dangerous path.
00:35:07.740 Do you see what she just did?
00:35:09.040 I don't think she realized what she just did.
00:35:11.280 By her argument, if criticism is inciting violence, then Elizabeth Warren just incited violence against
00:35:19.180 Donald Trump.
00:35:19.680 And I guess I'm criticizing Elizabeth Warren, so I guess I, I incited violence against Elizabeth
00:35:25.180 Warren.
00:35:26.940 And if one of you out there listening or watching doesn't agree with something that I've said,
00:35:31.740 I guess you're inciting violence against me.
00:35:33.060 I went and I saw the latest Star Wars movie and it was very bad.
00:35:41.020 I guess I'm inciting violence against the Star Wars movie, right?
00:35:44.320 I went to a restaurant the other night.
00:35:46.000 I ordered a nice plate of bucatini.
00:35:48.820 I had it.
00:35:49.860 The pasta was overcooked.
00:35:50.900 I guess I'm inciting violence against the chef, aren't I?
00:35:53.340 No, of course not.
00:35:54.960 Criticism is not inciting violence.
00:35:56.480 But by the way, what Elizabeth Warren's saying is far more incendiary than what Donald Trump
00:36:02.740 said about Ilhan Omar.
00:36:05.100 What Ilhan, what, what Donald Trump did was he posted a video of Ilhan Omar saying that
00:36:10.460 9-11 was just some people doing something.
00:36:12.860 And he said, we will never forget, never forget the 3,000 people who were killed in 9-11.
00:36:20.620 What Liz Warren said is that Donald Trump's putting us on a dangerous path.
00:36:24.580 Which of those is more incendiary?
00:36:26.060 Which of those is more likely to incite violence?
00:36:29.160 Moreover, Mark Dice put together a great little run through of left-wingers on television who
00:36:36.040 apparently were not as concerned about inciting violence a year or two years ago.
00:36:40.280 The folks calling for civility might need to check their privilege.
00:36:43.500 And 25% of the country, whether it's 25, 20, 30%, are hardcore racists.
00:36:49.920 They do not want to see brown people coming into America.
00:36:53.420 That's, that's just what's going on here.
00:36:55.000 If you vote for Trump, then you, the voter, you, not Donald Trump, are standing at the
00:37:02.160 border like Nazis going, you here, you here.
00:37:05.880 And I think we now have to flip it.
00:37:07.840 And it's a given the evilness of Donald Trump.
00:37:10.260 Are they just the most stoic human beings?
00:37:12.360 Are they numb?
00:37:13.000 Are they dead inside?
00:37:13.860 We can't just do rallies.
00:37:16.020 We have to fight back.
00:37:17.460 There will be casualties on both sides.
00:37:19.800 Anybody who votes for and supports a racist is a racist.
00:37:24.520 You are culpable, white America.
00:37:26.840 I'm sorry.
00:37:27.580 If you hold down the woman while the rapist is raping her and you didn't rape her, are you a rapist?
00:37:35.340 Now, that's just harsh criticism.
00:37:39.400 So obviously, it seems by the left standard, that's an incitement to violence.
00:37:42.920 That is violence.
00:37:44.580 But when you listen to it, it's really just harsh criticism.
00:37:47.600 You're a racist.
00:37:48.960 You're equivalent to a rapist.
00:37:51.200 You're, yeah, you're like this.
00:37:52.840 You're like this.
00:37:53.280 You're like this.
00:37:53.620 It's all criticism.
00:37:54.580 But actually, the left doesn't even stop there.
00:37:57.160 The left outright threatens violence all the time.
00:38:02.800 Here's just a quick, quick little rundown.
00:38:04.860 We could go on for 10 hours about it.
00:38:06.640 Just a quick little rundown of leftists actually calling for violence.
00:38:10.940 Yes, I have thought an awful lot about blowing up the White House.
00:38:17.520 You have members of your cabinet that have been booed out of restaurants.
00:38:22.860 We have protesters taking up at their house.
00:38:29.120 He's saying, no peace, no sleep.
00:38:32.280 No peace, no sleep.
00:38:34.740 And guess what?
00:38:35.780 We're going to win this battle.
00:38:37.720 New details today on the incident that left Senator Rand Paul with six broken ribs.
00:38:42.260 This might be one of my favorite stories, although, of course, we don't want to.
00:38:46.060 Clearly, Senator Paul is still struggling.
00:38:47.980 President Walker, how do you resist the temptation to run up and wring her neck?
00:38:51.340 You cannot be civil.
00:38:54.420 A political party that wants to destroy what you stand for, what you care about.
00:39:00.620 That's why I believe if we are fortunate enough to win back the House and or the Senate, that's when civility can start again.
00:39:09.320 When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?
00:39:12.560 When was the last time an actor assassinated a president?
00:39:18.420 Those are major left-wing donors, major left-wing celebrity spokesmen, major left-wing politicians, Maxine Waters and Hillary Clinton, major left-wing media figures.
00:39:30.440 Casey Hunt was that, I think, on MSNBC.
00:39:33.560 One of those left-wing people.
00:39:35.120 One of those left-wing mainstream media talking heads.
00:39:40.900 The left is more violent than the right.
00:39:45.040 There is some violence among right-wingers.
00:39:47.900 There is much, much, much more violence on the left.
00:39:52.900 And so, what the left must do is equate speech with violence.
00:39:56.720 Because there are a lot more logical arguments coming out of the right.
00:40:00.300 There's a lot more civil discussion coming out of the right.
00:40:02.620 And so, if the tools that are being used here to fight this cultural battle are, on the right, generally speaking, arguments, and on the left, generally speaking, hysterics and threats and acts of violence,
00:40:19.520 then the only way that the left can possibly win in the court of public opinion is to equate speech with violence.
00:40:27.920 So, that's what they have to do.
00:40:29.040 That's what they're trying to do.
00:40:30.100 It's what the Kansas City Star is doing.
00:40:31.600 That's what Chancellor Mollie Agrawal at the University of Missouri-Kansas City is doing.
00:40:39.000 He's doing it more subtly.
00:40:40.400 He's doing it more tacitly.
00:40:41.540 But he's doing it nevertheless.
00:40:43.680 That's what the people defending Ilhan Omar are doing.
00:40:49.580 Mainstream media.
00:40:52.160 Elected Democrats.
00:40:53.900 I've got to tell you.
00:40:55.160 How long have I been involved in politics?
00:40:57.980 How long have we been doing this show?
00:40:59.120 I have no illusions about the integrity of the mainstream media.
00:41:02.780 But there's really something that happens when they do a hit job on you personally, where you just see the lies.
00:41:11.260 You can identify the lies word by word, sentence by sentence, and you say, these guys are totally corrupt.
00:41:19.040 These guys are total.
00:41:20.800 Not only is their ideology corrupt and crooked, but their actions are too.
00:41:27.320 And you have to defend the right to criticize.
00:41:37.600 If we don't have the right to criticize, we don't have a republic.
00:41:41.920 The Senate is known as the greatest deliberative body in the world.
00:41:45.640 I know this is kind of an ironic name these days, but that's what it's supposed to be.
00:41:50.460 Our republic, our ability to govern ourselves, is based on the idea that we can criticize each other.
00:41:56.440 We can criticize ideas.
00:41:57.760 And we can do it in a way that doesn't burn the whole country to the ground, that doesn't spark violence.
00:42:04.560 And the left is increasingly incapable of certainly of accepting any criticism, but even of engaging in any ideas.
00:42:15.840 Self-government is difficult.
00:42:20.340 It requires maturity.
00:42:21.780 It requires intellect.
00:42:24.220 It requires education.
00:42:27.060 And as we see on display all throughout the mainstream media, as we see on display all the way at the nation's capital,
00:42:34.880 and certainly as we saw on display at the University of Missouri-Kansas City,
00:42:39.160 all of those things are in short supply and shortening supply.
00:42:43.180 Look to the universities.
00:42:44.560 That's the future of the country.
00:42:45.840 That's the next generation.
00:42:48.960 Doesn't paint a very pretty picture.
00:42:52.300 Just one note I'll leave you on from this mainstream media cycle.
00:42:59.180 There was a story in Reuters.
00:43:02.280 Headline said,
00:43:03.160 Man arrested after boy falls from balcony at Minnesota's Mall of America.
00:43:08.460 Boy falls from balcony, man arrested.
00:43:10.500 What really happened?
00:43:11.820 Reuters tells us in the first paragraph,
00:43:13.200 A five-year-old boy suffered life-threatening injuries on Friday after being thrown or pushed by an apparent stranger from a third-floor balcony at Minnesota's Mall of America.
00:43:22.660 Man who fled the scene has been charged with attempted homicide, police said.
00:43:25.580 Shortly after the incident, police arrested a 24-year-old man inside the mall, one of the state's leading tourist attractions, after he'd fled the scene.
00:43:32.940 The suspect, Emmanuel Deshawn Aranda, who is from the area, was charged with attempted homicide.
00:43:38.680 So what happened is a guy pushed a kid off a balcony and nearly killed him and may have killed him.
00:43:46.280 We don't know.
00:43:47.040 He's apparently in very bad shape.
00:43:50.380 And what does Reuters report?
00:43:51.760 Man arrested after boy falls from balcony.
00:43:54.280 Now, why did they report this way?
00:43:55.720 If I had to guess, something tells me that the race of the victim and the perpetrator played some role.
00:44:03.540 The man who pushed the boy, allegedly, is a black guy and the boy, apparently, is a white kid.
00:44:11.460 And this is a narrative.
00:44:13.780 This is a racial narrative that Reuters cannot permit.
00:44:19.640 And so, you hear this kind of ridiculous language.
00:44:24.140 Man arrested after boy falls from balcony in Minnesota's Mall of America.
00:44:27.580 What would happen, of course, if it were...
00:44:29.800 Imagine if the victim were an ethnic minority child and a white guy was the one who pushed him.
00:44:38.500 Could you imagine?
00:44:39.200 Imagine if it were a cop who...
00:44:42.120 Well, we know what happens when cops have, in the line of duty, injured or killed ethnic minority children or teenagers or even adults.
00:44:54.460 We know how that narrative is pushed by the mainstream media.
00:44:58.960 But something like this, it just shows you how much spin, how much narrative there really is.
00:45:05.500 And it gets so nasty.
00:45:06.900 Why does it get so nasty?
00:45:07.860 Because in the 1960s, the left insisted on a new line, a new premise.
00:45:15.180 The personal is the political.
00:45:18.080 The personal is the political.
00:45:20.760 Previously, the political was the political.
00:45:23.040 The personal was the personal.
00:45:24.300 Your public life was something that was different than your private life.
00:45:28.860 The nation's public life was something different than the private life.
00:45:32.280 In the 1960s, they said, no.
00:45:34.000 Everything is about to get really, really personal.
00:45:37.860 And so, it becomes nasty.
00:45:41.820 It becomes personal.
00:45:42.680 It becomes not about ideas.
00:45:44.300 Not about elevated modes of behavior.
00:45:47.960 It becomes about personal pushing narratives, spinning, outright lying when you have to.
00:45:53.520 You've got to be on alert.
00:45:55.360 You've got to be paying attention.
00:45:57.360 If you didn't know it before,
00:45:59.180 you cannot trust anything you read in the mainstream media.
00:46:04.500 I wish that weren't the case.
00:46:06.940 But it is.
00:46:08.680 That's where we are.
00:46:11.020 That's where the left is.
00:46:12.840 And we cannot allow ourselves to be bullied.
00:46:14.900 And we have to fight back.
00:46:16.020 And we are.
00:46:16.540 People asked me if I was going to cancel the rest of my speaking tour.
00:46:18.880 No way.
00:46:19.580 The tour just got 10 schools longer.
00:46:21.360 I'm going tomorrow night to Texas A&M with Drew Clavin.
00:46:24.820 We're going to have a good time down there.
00:46:26.340 And then I'm going to be at Cal State Los Angeles next Tuesday.
00:46:29.100 But I'll see you before then tomorrow.
00:46:31.040 In the meantime, I'm Michael Knowles.
00:46:32.060 This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:46:33.020 I'll see you then.
00:47:03.020 Hey, guys.
00:47:03.880 Over on The Matt Wall Show today.
00:47:05.240 Well, the Democrats, as I'm sure you've been seeing,
00:47:07.220 they're claiming that conservatives incite violence against Ilhan Omar
00:47:11.920 by criticizing her and her reprehensible comments that she made about 9-11.
00:47:16.480 Well, this is just a dishonest, deceitful ploy.
00:47:19.960 And it's all about shutting down free speech.
00:47:21.800 That's all it's really about.
00:47:23.280 We're going to talk about it.
00:47:24.260 Also, on a positive side, I want to talk about one great thing about America that I think
00:47:32.040 is embodied by the reaction to Tiger Woods' big Masters win yesterday.
00:47:38.040 And finally, I got one of the most disturbing pieces of hate mail I think I've ever received.
00:47:44.400 And this is from a deranged dog lover who's upset because I criticize dogs.
00:47:48.720 And I don't know.
00:47:50.500 I just want to share it with you because it's something else.
00:47:54.320 We'll do all that today over on The Matt Wall Show.
