A well-known California pastor has had enough of the lockdown. He is going to defy the lockdown,
00:00:06.620
and he's got a great excuse, a very clever strategy for how he's going to do it.
00:00:11.760
Good morning, everyone. I'm so happy to welcome you to the Grace Community Church Peaceful Protest.
00:00:49.480
You're probably getting around some of the lockdown problems. You've got synagogues being targeted in New York,
00:00:56.120
and you've got a real question here. As the secular left, the Church of Wokeism, comes and clamps down on religious life per se,
00:01:05.620
are we going to join together, or are we going to perish apart? We'll get into it. I'm Michael Knowles. This is The Michael Knowles Show.
00:01:10.600
Welcome back to the show. My favorite comment from last Thursday, I was going through my Michael Knowles Show YouTube channel comments,
00:01:27.360
and my favorite one is this. This is actually a great point from BPatman, Ben BPatman, says,
00:01:33.860
is everyone saying that Biden has dementia, but in his defense, he was this stupid 30 years ago.
00:01:40.060
It's actually an important, you know, it's just obviously insulting Joe Biden, but it does make an important point.
00:01:45.080
It is simply a lie to pretend that Joe Biden was some brilliant, wonderful, great statesman 30 years ago,
00:01:52.180
and he has declined. He was always a doofus. He was always a liar. He was always a plagiarist.
00:01:57.380
He was always an empty suit, and he remains one today. He's just lost a few steps. He's lost more than a few steps.
00:02:05.440
He's showing obvious signs of cognitive decline, and the left is going to try to blame it on all sorts of things
00:02:11.620
going back to his childhood, but it's just not going to work, and we can go through that point by point.
00:02:16.040
It occurs to me also, you might notice if you're watching this show right now, I'm not in my usual studio.
00:02:21.020
It looks like I'm in a lovely sort of living room somewhere because I'm taking part in the Lincoln Fellowship
00:02:26.780
at the Claremont Institute, and, you know, basically you get a bunch of conservatives to come down for a week
00:02:31.480
and talk about kind of what conservatism means now, what freedom means now, specifically what religious liberty means now,
00:02:37.740
and how we can understand the American founding with all this insanity going on and people tearing down statues
00:02:45.000
And it occurred to me, specifically on this question of religious liberty, we've got a big fight moving forward.
00:02:52.940
I played that clip earlier of John MacArthur. I don't particularly like John MacArthur.
00:02:57.400
John MacArthur is probably the most anti-Catholic preacher in the entire country. He regularly misrepresents the faith,
00:03:03.120
so I'm not exactly given to liking this guy, but I like his protest. I like the fact that he is defying
00:03:10.660
this outrageous political overreach by the left. And there are a lot of pastors doing that. A lot of
00:03:18.000
Protestant pastors, a lot of mainline Protestant pastors, a lot of evangelical, a lot of Catholic
00:03:22.260
orders are working their ways around the lockdowns. A lot of Jewish groups are being targeted in New York,
00:03:30.500
for that matter, right, to build a Blasio. You know, it seems like every, his angriest tweets during the whole
00:03:35.800
COVID lockdown are just to threaten Jews and say he's going to shut down synagogues permanently.
00:03:41.060
What does this mean? This is something we've been talking about as we've been examining the
00:03:45.180
founding of this country. The founding fathers did not want an established church, right? The First
00:03:51.320
Amendment says there will not be an established church at the national level. A lot of people
00:03:57.080
mistakenly took this to mean that this was either a total separation of church and state, or even
00:04:02.660
worse, that our government was secular. But our government, that is just a lie. That is a total
00:04:07.880
20th century fiction. Lock that away with the tooth fairy and the Easter bunny. The founders had a very
00:04:15.060
sophisticated view of religion, and we are seeing the fruit right now of not heeding their warning. But
00:04:20.240
we do know what to do. We'll get to that in one second. First, however, I've got to thank our friends
00:04:23.760
over at Ring. Speaking of safety, you know, we've got a whole lot more deliveries these days,
00:04:28.960
probably. People aren't leaving their homes as much. They're working from home. They're doing
00:04:32.660
things at home. And so you're getting a lot of packages. Well, you want to know who's at your
00:04:37.100
front door. And you can do that either from your bedroom, or if you do happen to go to the office,
00:04:41.160
or maybe you're traveling. I know a lot of people are doing that, too. You can always check in on
00:04:45.500
Ring. I love Ring. It makes me feel good to know that sweet little Elise is a good shot. But that's not
00:04:51.520
enough, okay? That's not enough. You also want to be able to check in on your home. One great thing
00:04:57.320
about Ring, so you've got the all-new Ring Video Doorbell 3. It means you can keep a closer eye on
00:05:02.100
things than ever before. It gives you protection at every corner. Smart lighting brightens up blind
00:05:07.260
spots. Make sure you always come home to a brightly lit house. Full home security systems give you
00:05:12.220
everything you need to protect your family, pets, and property. But one of my favorite things about this
00:05:16.100
is when my friends buy a new house, I give them Ring as a housewarming present, and it makes them
00:05:22.800
safe, you know, and it looks really cool. And most importantly, it's pretty inexpensive, so you seem
00:05:26.840
like a great guy when you're giving this to them as a gift. Get a special offer in a Ring welcome kit
00:05:30.600
right now when you go to Ring.com slash Knowles. That includes the Video Doorbell 3 and Chime Pro.
00:05:35.060
All you need to start building custom security for your home today. Ring.com slash Knowles,
00:05:39.280
K-N-W-L-E-S, ring.com slash Knowles. So one thing we've been talking about here,
00:05:45.520
as we've been talking about the Founding Fathers, is their view on a church, right? This is not a
00:05:51.040
total separation of church and state. This is not a preference for secularism, God forbid. There's no
00:05:57.060
established church at the national level, in part actually because there were established churches
00:06:00.780
at the state level. Various states had established churches, but they had different kinds of churches.
00:06:05.620
And obviously there were a lot of different religions in America. One thing we've been discussing
00:06:10.480
is that the view of the Founders would have been that at the national level, one single
00:06:14.340
established religion would be tyrannical. You've only got one, right? One church at that level,
00:06:19.200
in the American idea. Two religions would lead inevitably to civil war. You've got these two
00:06:26.720
religions contending against one another, not going to last very long, not very well. Look around
00:06:31.400
the Middle East, you see two major religious groups, what happens? It doesn't go great.
00:06:35.620
But many religions, you have peace. That's one way the Founders thought about religion,
00:06:43.780
and it seems counterintuitive. One religion, tyrannical, two religions, civil war, lots of
00:06:47.860
religions, peace. Because you're not going to take one particular preference over another,
00:06:53.920
you're not going to, you know, you're going to be so distracted with all the different religions.
00:06:57.620
However, and really when we say that, we mostly mean all the different varieties of Christianity,
00:07:04.340
mostly Protestantism, but Catholicism as well. And Judaism. George Washington writes a famous letter
00:07:10.780
to a Jewish congregation. But that's not what we have right now. What it occurs to me we have right
00:07:17.360
now is two broadly competing religious ideas. That is religion and atheism, secularism, leftism,
00:07:25.180
whatever you want to call it. Those are the competing religious ideas right now. And secularism
00:07:30.860
has advanced and advanced and advanced to the point that they're now trying to trap us into a
00:07:34.780
tiny little corner where maybe we can have a little tiny bit of religious liberty, but that's it.
00:07:38.840
And while we're all busy fighting amongst ourselves, they are going to back us into that
00:07:42.940
corner. We can't have that happen, okay? We have to realize the Founders despised atheism. It was one of
00:07:48.240
the worst things you could call people. There were, there were many social mores and even laws going
00:07:54.240
back all the way to the earliest parts of the country against atheism, what we would now call
00:07:58.960
secularism. Our Founders talked at length about how you need a religious people, like an actual
00:08:04.600
traditionally religious people to have a freedom to have our society. And right now those religious
00:08:10.000
people are on the brink of extinction because the secular government is telling us we can't even go to
00:08:14.400
church anymore without being arrested. Can't have that. What we need is some unity, okay? We need
00:08:21.280
some solidarity here in the country among religious people of all stripes, maybe invoking some of the
00:08:26.900
same ideas we had at the founding of this country. In many ways, we could try to bring back the founding
00:08:32.500
ideas of this country. That's going to be the religious battle, though. That's going to be the
00:08:36.020
religious crusade. And I think we're going to have to stand together. We're going to have to join or die,
00:08:41.120
as Ben Franklin said. We're going to have to stand together or we're all going to fall, fall down on
00:08:46.040
our own. Speaking of misrepresenting Catholicism in particular and religion generally, the Lincoln
00:08:53.660
Project. You know, the Lincoln Project, it's this group of Democrat advisor, con men, political
00:08:58.560
consultants who are basically milking Democratic small dollar donors for everything they're worth
00:09:03.720
and pretending that they're going to kick Donald Trump out of the GOP or something. A total con.
00:09:09.700
They just posted a tweet on this question of religion over the weekend. They said,
00:09:14.220
Joe Biden is a devout Catholic and regularly attends Sunday service.
00:09:17.760
The last time Trump went to church, he gassed peaceful Americans.
00:09:21.780
Now, so a lot of problems here. One, Catholics don't refer to Sunday service.
00:09:28.980
Catholics go to mass. If the Lincoln Project knew anything about what they were talking about,
00:09:33.020
they would know that distinction. Beyond that, Joe Biden's a devout Catholic.
00:09:36.440
Joe Biden is endorsed by Planned Parenthood. Joe Biden was denied the Eucharist, the communion,
00:09:42.520
at a church not so long ago. Joe Biden is an apostate from his faith who was rightly denied the
00:09:48.980
Eucharist. There's nothing devout about it, but you see the left all the time. They pretend Nancy
00:09:53.660
Pelosi. Actually, they say she's also a devout Catholic or Andrew Cuomo. Andrew Cuomo lit up
00:09:59.140
buildings in New York City pink to celebrate the wholesale slaughter of children. Okay, not a Catholic.
00:10:06.440
Now, Christian, we cannot let them get away with this kind of thing. We need to call it out for
00:10:11.480
what it is. And some pastors and some bishops and some priests are doing that now. We need a lot
00:10:17.680
more of that. The idea had always been this. Back away from the religious questions. Don't have the
00:10:23.240
religious people attack the civil authorities. Don't talk about politics. And then maybe they'll
00:10:28.460
leave us these little crumbs of religious liberty. They're not doing that. Okay, they're suing
00:10:32.660
nuns, for goodness sakes. They're not going to do that. You've got to get tougher. You're going to
00:10:36.960
lose the whole game. And even if Joe Biden were a devout Catholic, which he's not, but even if he
00:10:44.000
were, he would not be protecting your liberty because Joe Biden can't form a coherent sentence.
00:10:48.860
The Trump campaign has a great new ad on this, by the way. We'll get into what it means,
00:10:51.960
how it's going to play politically. First, though, I got to thank our friends over at Wise Foods. You
00:10:56.020
probably already know that our sponsor company, Wise Company, has changed their name to ReadyWise.
00:11:02.040

00:12:09.880
So even if Joe Biden did want to protect our most cherished liberties, he probably wouldn't be able
00:12:14.280
to do it because he more or less can only campaign on a rhetorical platform of gibberish.
00:12:24.340
1.2 billion. So you go ahead and you stack spaghetti sauce at a store and in a supermarket,
00:12:30.220
you control the guy or the woman who runs the run, brings out the carts on a forklift.
00:12:37.240
What happened? Yeah, that's the guy who's going to defend all of our liberties and bring us back
00:12:44.500
to a sophisticated understanding of checks and balances in the American. I don't think so.
00:12:50.240
I think he's rambling incoherently about spaghetti sauce. And it's not just one isolated incident.
00:12:58.640
We've played many on this show. The Trump campaign right now is a devastating ad. The ad
00:13:02.500
doesn't include any people openly attacking Joe Biden. The ad is just a comparison of Joe Biden
00:13:09.520
in 2008 and Joe Biden in 2020. Don't forget, they're blaming right now. The Democrats are
00:13:13.840
saying, oh, these attacks on Joe Biden, it's just about his childhood stutter. He hasn't lost a step.
00:13:18.600
He's still totally with it. You sure about that? Take a listen.
00:13:22.440
You ask anybody in there whether or not the economic and foreign policy of this administration
00:13:27.160
has made them better off in the last eight years. And in addition to that, we have to
00:13:36.120
make sure that we are in a position that we are. We can insure every single solitary kid.
00:13:43.520
2008. Catastrophic health insurance right off the bat. We can do that for the cost of
00:13:48.320
the just one thing, the tax cut for people in the top one percent.
00:13:52.380
2020. You got to give them to the people who are going to spend the money. You got to deal
00:14:03.120
with making sure American companies can be competitive and have a health care plan that doesn't put
00:14:07.620
them at a disadvantage when they compete overseas. You know, there's a during World War Two, you
00:14:14.260
know, where Roosevelt came up with a thing that, you know, was totally different than a than
00:14:21.260
the score. He called the, you know, what happened to Joe Biden? That's the only question at the end
00:14:29.180
of the ad. It's undeniable. I what the media like to do now with the Democrats like to do is memory
00:14:34.640
hole everything that happened more than five minutes ago. So you just don't remember. They
00:14:37.800
don't show you clips of Joe Biden, even in 2008. Forget about 1998, 1988, 1978. The guy's been around a
00:14:44.440
long time. It's not a childhood stutter. Okay. He's lost a step. He's lost more than a step.
00:14:51.560
He's forgetting where he is. He's forgetting what his name is. And I, Trump has received some
00:14:57.900
criticism. The campaign has received criticism for going on this line of attack. Part of that is
00:15:04.020
people think that we're setting expectations too low here as conservatives. We should, we should
00:15:08.580
let people see what's going on at the debates and make a judgment for themselves. The trouble is the
00:15:13.540
left is openly trying not to debate. And the Biden campaign is saying we want to debate, but that's BS
00:15:18.820
because all the people around the Biden campaign who are buoying up his entire candidacy are doing
00:15:23.960
their damnedest to cancel these debates. The New York Times, left-wing columnists, left-wing TV show
00:15:29.340
hosts, even comedy hosts, even people in the general popular culture don't want Biden on that debate
00:15:35.380
stage. Here's Jimmy Fallon, right? His mainstream, a kind of center-left comedian as you get,
00:15:40.460
saying, oh, come on already. Who needs debates?
00:15:43.760
Speaking of the president, his campaign wants to make some changes to the debate schedule.
00:15:48.700
Normally, there's just three, but check out what they're proposing.
00:15:51.640
The Trump campaign is asking for a fourth presidential debate to be held
00:15:55.200
in the first week of September to get ahead of early voting.
00:15:57.880
Oh, my God, we're debating about the debates? They haven't even started. I'm already exhausted.
00:16:03.900
At this point, who even needs debates? Who is undecided? Who's tuning in like,
00:16:08.640
oh, I want to see what this Donald Trump guy's all about?
00:16:12.140
Then I'll make my mind up. I need at least three debates.
00:16:19.380
Then once I do, after the third debate, maybe the fourth one, then I'll listen.
00:16:23.500
Uh, actually, I don't mind another debate as long as it's just Trump naming things he sees in the
00:16:28.020
room. Podium, moderator, Biden, camera, TV. That's the last day for that joke.
00:16:36.700
Notice who was missing from that riff? I don't even, I won't even call it a joke.
00:16:40.700
It wasn't particularly funny. He heard some groans out in the audience.
00:16:44.060
Joe Biden was missing. It was all about Trump. The whole thing, right? He says,
00:16:49.360
is there anyone out there who doesn't have his mind made up about Trump? Well,
00:16:52.080
what about people who want to make up their mind about Biden either? You're not just voting against
00:16:56.020
somebody. You have a candidate. The Democrats don't really have a candidate. They have this
00:16:59.960
empty shell of a man who can't remember his own name and who's an empty, who's been an empty suit
00:17:03.760
from the beginning. And what they want you to believe is that this election is only about Donald
00:17:09.600
Trump, but it's not. Elections are choices. They're binary choices in America. If you vote against
00:17:15.560
Donald Trump, that means you're voting for Joe Biden. Does anybody really think Joe Biden can,
00:17:20.280
can be president is competent, is fit to be president? I never thought he was, but he certainly
00:17:26.960
isn't now. I mean, just at a very practical managerial level, the man does not appear to
00:17:32.760
have his wits about him, whatever those wits were. So if, if you make it about those two guys,
00:17:39.420
I think Trump wins. Is Trump's pitch for the last few days is don't forget that last few days,
00:17:44.860
last few weeks, at least is we need order. We need law and order. We need some stability in this
00:17:49.340
country. I'm a competent man. I'm an adult. I've got my wits about me. I'm not a child.
00:17:54.520
And then there's Joe Biden, you know, who's, who's kind of watching television or something
00:17:58.860
in his basement, not even campaigning, not even knowing what this campaign is about.
00:18:02.600
Don't let them do this to you. Don't let them, this is part of the reason why they,
00:18:06.200
they want to cancel the debates is they want to keep it about Trump for as long as possible.
00:18:10.300
Don't let them do it because they're going to gaslight you on it too. I kid you not. I was
00:18:15.420
unfortunately watching some CNN over the weekend. I've been traveling a little bit. So you're in an
00:18:21.420
airport. That's, that is the time you watch CNN and Brian Stelter had the audacity to suggest on
00:18:28.680
his show with a number of guests that the Biden campaign is being treated unfairly because of the
00:18:35.260
media. The mainstream media are too pro Trump. Take a listen.
00:18:42.840
If you look at like the 1990s and the way that Rush Limbaugh and others sort of sharpened their
00:18:47.520
teeth on Bill Clinton, this has been the way they've built audiences for three decades now.
00:18:52.560
Yeah. I don't want to claim it's new. I just am arguing that it's getting worse.
00:18:55.780
It's getting more severe. Aaron, your view of this, you know, when you see entire media companies
00:19:02.600
essentially exist to tear down Joe Biden, is there an equivalent to that on the left tearing down
00:19:07.520
Trump? There really isn't. And you know, what I would say it's a, it's really a diet of this type
00:19:14.460
of information that a lot of these voters are getting. A lot of the voters that I talk to, I can,
00:19:19.600
you know, when I interview them, I do hear them saying a lot of the talking points that sound very
00:19:24.220
familiar from, from some of these shows, which I try to listen to when I'm out on the campaign trail
00:19:28.620
or when I'm at home, you know, watching TV, you know, you can, you can hear these, uh, these
00:19:32.840
comments being echoed, uh, by, by voters. And you know that this is the diet that they're on,
00:19:37.060
uh, you know, AM radio, uh, you know, conservative talk, uh, also social media. I mean, the Trump
00:19:43.160
campaign is running a full blown campaign on social media that is completely off the radar for,
00:19:48.180
for a lot of, a lot of, uh, you know, regular media, uh, is not covering this.
00:19:52.140
So there, there is a media company dedicated to going after Joe Biden. Is there anything
00:19:58.020
like that on the left dedicated to going after Donald Trump other than ABC, NBC, CBS, which had
00:20:06.260
over 92% negative coverage of Donald Trump from the beginning or the New York times or the Washington
00:20:11.760
post or MSNBC or CNN or, or the whole media, the entire, the entire mainstream media.
00:20:22.140
Have been hysterically anti-Trump from day one. And before that they were anti-Bush. And before,
00:20:29.160
before that there, I guess they're anti-Romney, then anti-McCain, then anti-Bush, then anti-Dole.
00:20:33.520
Then they've been anti-Republican from the beginning, especially anti-Trump. They've spread
00:20:37.160
ridiculous conspiracy theories about him, like that he's a, a Moscow spy who's a, you know, a stooge and
00:20:44.640
a traitor to Russia. Or, or they, they said they didn't pay any of his taxes. It completely made up.
00:20:49.680
Or they said he was actually working for Ukraine or they colluding with them. Or he all just is
00:20:55.520
ridiculous nonsense. And they say, they say worse things, by the way, they talk about, I mean,
00:21:01.400
they, they suggest that he's, he's, you know, a creep and a lech and a this and a that, and he's a
00:21:07.600
rapist and a this, this and a that. I mean, they say all these sorts of terrible things.
00:21:11.780
And then they come back, they say, yeah, the media, they're just so, they're just so against
00:21:16.080
Biden. Listen to what they cite. They say, yeah, there's right-wing talk radio.
00:21:22.160
Rush Limbaugh. Okay. You get the entire media apparatus is pro-Biden and you've got Rush Limbaugh.
00:21:27.660
He's pro-Trump basically, right? Rush Limbaugh kind of is talk radio. Then everybody else is kind
00:21:32.280
of falls within that umbrella. Or they say, yeah, Trump's making these posts on social media.
00:21:36.700
Oh, the campaign is using social media. Are we, we're still allowed to do that, please. Right?
00:21:43.740
Is that okay? Republicans are still allowed to campaign on social media. The Biden campaign
00:21:47.740
is campaigning on social media. They don't mention that. So are they just liars? Are they gaslighting
00:21:53.720
us? Yeah, probably. They do gaslight us all the time. Because, oh my gosh, not only are the left-wing
00:22:01.720
media attacking Trump and attacking Trump supporters, there are actually media watchdogs,
00:22:06.200
many of whom I'm sure are watching this show right now, who are groups like Media Matters or
00:22:10.480
Right Wing Watch or all these kind of political operative organizations that pretend to be 501c3
00:22:15.080
nonprofits that exist just to not only take out Republican politicians, but to take out even
00:22:20.340
Republican commentators, people talking about it. So we've got the media attacking us and we've got
00:22:25.480
the media watchdogs attacking us. You've got all these sort of things. So they're gaslighting us on
00:22:30.700
one hand. But to give Stelter and the Democrats the benefit of the doubt, let's say they're not lying
00:22:34.460
for a second. It actually is plausible that they don't realize that the whole media are pro-Biden
00:22:40.700
and anti-Trump. And the reason for that is the same reason that you and I are not aware of the
00:22:44.720
air that we walk around in and fish are not aware of the water that they swim around in. It's the whole
00:22:50.920
culture. When we talk about fake news, we're not just talking about one or two fake stories in the
00:22:56.280
New York Times, though there are many fake stories in the New York Times, prominent ones.
00:22:59.360
It's the whole culture. The thing that makes them fake news is that they pretend they're news.
00:23:05.560
They're not news. They're not objective. They're partisan hacks who pretend to be news and get
00:23:11.900
certain benefits for that, but who are merely operatives, mouthpieces for the Democratic Party,
00:23:18.940
and now specifically for Joe Biden, the candidate. I think a lot of people on the left are not aware
00:23:25.620
of that. So it is possible that they're that oblivious. They might just be lying to us, too.
00:23:29.940
Maybe it's a little bit of both, and maybe that's what we're going to see more of through November.
00:23:35.660
You know, I think even we, even we conservatives, even people who take a listen to this show,
00:23:40.740
who listen to the various examples of this, sometimes forget how crazy the culture has gotten.
00:23:46.340
And then we get reminded, University of Georgia has just issued a mandate to students,
00:23:53.560
some guidance on how to move forward during COVID. Do you think the guidance was on how they can
00:23:58.840
continue to learn, how they can take notes, how they can go to class while protecting themselves?
00:24:03.860
No. The guidance was about how when these teenagers have sex, they should wear masks when they have
00:24:13.000
sex. It's not a joke. Here's the guidance. Consider wearing a face mask during sex.
00:24:18.840
Heavy breathing and panting can further spread the virus, and wearing a mask can reduce the risk.
00:24:26.700
So, I mean, that's all true. I guess that's right. But do you remember when universities were
00:24:34.240
in loco parentis, when they were, when, you know, they would kick the girls out of the dorms at
00:24:39.740
9 p.m., or actually before that when education was single sex, because you were discouraged from
00:24:46.000
having sex in the culture broadly outside of marriage, and certainly at universities with all
00:24:50.320
these. Now, the university is giving you tips on how to get kinky with the co-eds. They're encouraging
00:24:57.520
you to do it. And then, but that's kind of, you know, perfectly natural, you might say.
00:25:02.380
But then the next part is even, even wilder. They say, quote, you are your safest sex partner.
00:25:10.260
Practice solo sex or limit the number of sexual partners you have. So, so limit the number of,
00:25:18.220
like, hey, they can't tell you to, you know, maybe cool it and keep your modesty and virtue because
00:25:25.380
that, they call that slut shaving. So they say, would you mind maybe limiting the number of sexual
00:25:30.120
partners? You know, no more than three or four a day, please. And please practice solo sex. What
00:25:34.440
is solo sex? So I believe Woody Allen defined it as sex with someone who loves you. When it's just
00:25:43.340
you and, you know, you turn the blinds down and you go into your own room. In any case, that's a real
00:25:49.000
inversion of the culture. For the vast majority of the history of this country, sex outside of marriage
00:25:55.860
would be discouraged. Sex among teenagers who are off at college would be discouraged. Masturbation
00:26:01.380
would be discouraged. But we now have a new, a new kind of religious worldview, a new morality.
00:26:09.800
And we pretend that it's just the absence of religion. We pretend that it's totally neutral,
00:26:14.680
but it's not. There's nothing neutral about encouraging teenagers to have sex with one another.
00:26:18.500
There's nothing neutral about encouraging masturbation with kind of silly euphemisms and things like that.
00:26:23.580
That, that is another religious view. That's the religious view of the secular left.
00:26:28.700
And we're, we are coming to a head in this religious war. Cardinal Manning, I mentioned the
00:26:32.660
quote on the show all the time because it's so true. At bottom, all human conflict is theological.
00:26:37.640
And those are two theologies. Those are two religious views of the world. Which one do you want to live
00:26:44.700
in? One is very tempting. You know, all this kind of indulgent behavior is very fun. There's a,
00:26:51.520
there's a reason that it's so tempting, but is the, is that what's going to make a good society?
00:26:55.580
Is that what's going to make us good, good people as individuals? Or are we going to come to regret
00:26:59.860
that? You know, it's, it's always fun to have a lot of drinks at the time. It's always funny. You
00:27:04.460
know, okay, I'll have one more, you know, five drinks later, but then you have the hangover the
00:27:08.320
next day. We've got a bit of a cultural hangover right now. And going back, reading those founding
00:27:13.000
fathers, you notice there's a big difference they make between liberty and licentiousness.
00:27:17.860
Liberty, where exercising your freedom in the true sense of that, raising ourselves up,
00:27:23.560
leading to human flourishing, and licentiousness, which is outright discouraged or banned or talked
00:27:29.460
about as sort of the, the end of, of free government. Licentiousness, where you just follow
00:27:34.120
your own appetites, do whatever you want. Well, now we've got a culture that I, it seems to me that
00:27:39.760
the Christian culture that founded this country promoted liberty and ordered liberty. And this current
00:27:45.340
religion of secular wokeism is promoting nothing other than licentiousness. You want to see how
00:27:50.340
creepy this gets? Hasbro. They make toys. Hasbro. Just made a new toy called the Trolls World Tour
00:27:59.240
Giggle and Sing Poppy. This is a doll that, that, you know, you push a button, like all these little
00:28:05.200
toys, right? You push a button, it makes a sound. So where's the button? Well, it's this little troll
00:28:10.340
girl, obviously like a child, and she's got a button on her stomach and you push the button on
00:28:15.340
her stomach and she makes a sound. She's got another button. They put another button in between her
00:28:21.680
legs. And when you push that button, she makes, she makes disturbing sound. The button itself is
00:28:28.340
disturbingly placed in the, the sounds she makes are disturbing too. Take a listen to one parent who
00:28:33.420
bought this toy and discovered this creepy pervy button. So I just touched her tummy. She's going
00:28:40.260
to sing for a minute, but down here is a button right here on her privates. And if you push those,
00:28:48.660
she makes these sounds, like a gasping sound. That is yucky. That is yucky and creepy and weird.
00:29:08.180
It's so funny. You, you hear about all these conspiracy theories that always float around the
00:29:12.940
internet of international pedophile rings and this pedophile culture, right? And then people say,
00:29:18.360
oh, that's like a crazy conspiracy theory. And, and, uh, you know, no, there's no way that there's
00:29:23.160
this international pedophile ring that involves heads of state and prime ministers and members of
00:29:26.760
the Royal family. And they go to a Caribbean Island and say, oh, wait a second. Yeah. Yikes.
00:29:30.360
Right. And then now forget about that. And it's hard for me to imagine that that was an accident
00:29:36.880
with that toy doll. I'm not saying there's some, some group somewhere, some conspiracy group of like
00:29:43.740
the Illuminati, you know, who's making all these kinds of weird pedophile things, but it is evidence
00:29:48.400
of a, of a broken sexual culture that anyone at any point would think that that is acceptable to
00:29:55.460
have a little button in on the doll right there where you push it. And, and the doll makes those
00:30:01.100
sounds and then kids are going to get those. That is some creepy, creepy stuff. And it,
00:30:07.340
it, it makes you understand that this debate we're having right now on the left and the right,
00:30:13.740
it comes down to a kind of cultural and religious point. We used to just debate over tax rates. That
00:30:18.880
was kind of eighties, nineties conservatism. It's like, yeah, we're going to lower taxes
00:30:22.260
a lot more. Yeah. Well, if you elect us again, we'll lower taxes even more. And I look, I like low
00:30:28.060
taxes, but that's not motivating people. There's a cultural and religious issue. Gives you a lot of,
00:30:32.180
a lot of respect for the young kids who are a little bit more traditional, who are saying
00:30:36.420
something here, seriously broken. We'll get into that. We'll get into specifically, by the way,
00:30:40.780
what president Trump is going to do for the next three months, not just as a matter of campaign,
00:30:45.980
but as a matter of policy. There was a huge announcement that he made just over the past
00:30:50.420
few days. We'll get to all that. But first I've got to say thank you to you. I'm going to thank you
00:30:55.680
for heading on over to the Michael Knowles show YouTube channel. That's where we, we check through
00:31:00.180
the comments and pick, pick comments that, you know, sort of tickle us like we're a troll doll.
00:31:04.080
Um, so head on over there, subscribe. We appreciate it. I've got a full interview with
00:31:08.560
Eric Metaxas that, uh, we did right before I came down, down here, uh, last week. So great,
00:31:15.980
great interview. Eric is just fascinating. Uh, you can go check that out. Also don't forget to join
00:31:20.660
our most exclusive membership tier over at daily wire, all access, all access members get to join
00:31:25.960
all access live, which is a ton of fun. All access live is, uh, you know, when we just speak
00:31:32.340
directly with, uh, with the members and it's great. And you know, we make a lot of friendships
00:31:35.680
that way. Uh, also you, you will get, uh, early access and exclusive access to some promos that
00:31:43.380
we're doing. For instance, we just made this baseball, the daily wire baseball bat. It was
00:31:46.780
very cool. It was only available to all access members sold out within less than 48 hours.
00:31:50.780
I'm sorry to say, even before I got mine, but, uh, make sure you sign up now. You'll, you'll have
00:31:55.120
access to that. You'll also get, uh, not one, but two leftist years tumblers. So right now
00:31:58.900
head to dailywire.com slash Knowles, get 20% off all access with coupon code access. That's 20%
00:32:04.540
off with coupon code access at dailywire.com slash Knowles. And we'll be right back with a lot more.
00:32:22.600
When you see creepy things like that troll doll, it starts to give you a little bit more of an
00:32:28.580
understanding of these 18 year old traditionalist kids who are anti-porn. Do you remember at the end
00:32:34.500
of last year, I guess it was December, January, we were having this debate on the right over whether
00:32:39.060
to ban porn or to regulate porn. And, you know, some people said we got to ban it outright.
00:32:44.800
And some people were aghast. They said, Oh my gosh, no porn is a blessing of Liberty. We love porn.
00:32:50.620
So George Washington would roll over in his grave if you ban porn. And you might say it's impractical to
00:32:57.160
ban porn. But as a matter of principle, I don't think any of the founders would have had a problem
00:33:01.080
with that. Makes you understand them. Cause you look at this completely insane, broken sexual culture
00:33:05.400
where you've got, you've got university administrators whose job it is to encourage
00:33:10.280
teenagers to, to fornicate and masturbate. And they're sending out guidelines about this and
00:33:15.480
toy makers who are making pervert child sex dolls. You don't want to live in that culture,
00:33:21.200
do you? And one line you always heard in that, in that whole porn debate was that these more
00:33:26.340
traditionalist kids who were overwhelmingly young teenagers or early twenties, that they were
00:33:30.800
hypocrites because you know what? I bet some of them have looked at porn before. I bet some of them
00:33:34.640
have looked at naked ladies on the internet. See, they're hypocrites. We don't need to listen to
00:33:38.000
them. That's not hypocrisy. The fact that we live in this highly pornographic culture where we move
00:33:45.640
around it, like we move through the air or fish move through the water. Maybe that's a reason why
00:33:52.220
these, especially these young kids are so anti-porn because they've lived with it. They know
00:33:59.180
not only the temptation of it, but they know the awful effects of it. Awful effects on young men,
00:34:04.420
awful effects on young women. You know, it causes men to have sexual problems. It's led to an increase
00:34:10.540
in bizarre sex, sometimes violent sex, completely disordered sexual expectations. Obviously lots
00:34:19.660
of sexual regret, which is what's led to what's called the epidemic of campus rape.
00:34:26.840
You know, what we hear now is that one in four women will be raped on campus as though Harvard
00:34:30.820
Yard is as dangerous as downtown Fallujah. That's not exactly what's going on here, right? I can't imagine
00:34:36.200
that's true. I don't see evidence of that. What's really going on though is we have this insane
00:34:40.520
broken sexual culture. And so people are very confused and have different expectations and lots
00:34:45.480
and lots of shame and regret. The fact that some of these 18 year old kids, you know, if you're 18
00:34:50.980
right now, you never grew, you grew up in a world that always had high speed internet and this kind
00:34:58.080
of ubiquitous porn and all this stuff. Maybe, maybe that informs your opinion. Maybe, maybe these kids
00:35:04.620
have lived through it and they say, yeah, that's bad. We shouldn't, we shouldn't have so much of this.
00:35:08.180
We should not encourage this. We are, we are learning from the children out of the mouths
00:35:13.140
of babes, I suppose. Meanwhile, you see child, childish temper tantrums all around the country,
00:35:20.600
people burning down the country, tearing down statues, screaming, shrieking. And president Trump
00:35:25.120
just made an explicit appeal on this point. He was giving a press conference and he was describing
00:35:33.080
the green new deal. This is a left-wing policy. They've been pushing for it now for a few years.
00:35:38.060
Massive, would totally overhaul society. Has very little to do with the environment,
00:35:41.740
the natural environment, has much more to do with socialism and the redistribution of wealth
00:35:46.720
and reparations for slavery and all this kind of nonsense. And he came out and he said, you know,
00:35:51.200
the green new deal is for children and I'm the adult in the room.
00:35:56.160
You look at what they want to do. They want to raise everybody's taxes, everybody. And they want to do
00:36:02.120
the green new deal, which will decimate our country and decimate. It's ridiculous too. It's childish.
00:36:07.100
I actually say the green new deal is childish. It's for children. It's not for adults.
00:36:14.600
Anybody that believes in that is, I don't know, maybe it's politics. I don't even think it's good
00:36:20.840
politics. They seem to think so. We'll see how they do. Is it good politics? I don't think it is
00:36:26.740
for the left. I think this is an important theme that since the Trump campaign has kind of righted the
00:36:31.460
ship they've been picking up on, which is law and order, right? We are going to restore law and order.
00:36:37.800
The last few months have been an insane temper tantrum. Trump is the adult in the room and he's
00:36:42.180
going to take charge. And I think that's a successful message for the Trump campaign.
00:36:46.680
And he's taking it not just on making fun of the green new deal. He's putting forward
00:36:49.900
affirmative policies. So we've been waiting for another COVID relief package. Remember the last one
00:36:54.600
spent two to three trillion levered up to six trillion and it got us through four months,
00:36:59.240
sort of. It didn't even really do that. We're kind of hobbling away and the economy is in freefall.
00:37:04.080
So the Senate can't agree with the House on a deal and the House Democrats can't agree with the Senate
00:37:08.380
Republicans. So Trump just came out, issued executive orders on COVID relief. And the plan
00:37:13.560
includes some good policy, some bad policy. Take a listen to the announcement.
00:37:20.160
Democrats are obstructing all of it. Therefore, I'm taking executive action. We've had it.
00:37:25.900
And we're going to save American jobs and provide relief to the American workers. And I'll be signing
00:37:32.160
these bills in a very short period of time. First one is I'm providing a payroll tax holiday
00:37:39.620
to Americans earning less than $100,000 per year. In a few moments, I will sign a directive instructing
00:37:49.040
the Treasury Department to allow employers to defer payment of the employee portion of certain payroll
00:37:55.580
taxes from September 1st. And we're actually going to be making that. We just got the word. We're just
00:38:02.160
getting some word from a lot of people. We didn't think we'd have to do this because we thought the
00:38:07.480
Democrats would be reasonable, but they've been not only unreasonable, they've been ridiculous.
00:38:13.060
They have been ridiculous. Payroll tax holiday is a great idea. A lot of Republicans have been
00:38:18.380
calling for that. The thing that's nice about it is it gives workers some money because you pay part
00:38:22.860
of your payroll tax, but it also gives employers an incentive to hire you back because it gives the
00:38:28.280
employers a little bit of a cut. They pay part of the payroll tax. So it makes perfect sense. It's a great
00:38:32.740
idea. Love that policy. I love that Trump did it. Also, some of Trump's executive order is going to
00:38:38.800
protect renters from evictions. So obviously it puts people who own property in a tough position,
00:38:45.340
but what are you going to do? You're going to evict people. They haven't done it yet, so I don't know
00:38:48.360
that you had to issue a guidance on that. And then expands unemployment benefits by $400 per week,
00:38:54.800
25% of which could be covered by the states. I like the idea that the states have to cover some of it
00:38:58.620
because they've been clamoring for this. I don't like the idea that you're incentivizing people
00:39:01.940
to stay out of work. And that's really what this is doing. If you pay people more money than they
00:39:06.400
would ordinarily get paid to work, to not work, what are people going to do? They're going to not
00:39:11.660
work. There was a Cato study that showed that a full two-thirds of people on the COVID unemployment
00:39:17.460
benefits have made more money than they otherwise would have made working. And a full one-third of
00:39:22.040
people made double. And not a good situation. I don't begrudge people their extra $400 a week or
00:39:29.560
whatever the deal, $600 a week before this. But you're playing into the Democratic hands of
00:39:36.120
giving people a reason not to go back to work. I think Trump wants to seem like Daddy Warbucks here.
00:39:42.040
He wants to seem like Santa Claus and like he really cares about the people and he's not beholden
00:39:46.260
to old libertarian stodgy ideologies. Fine, I see all of that. But you've got what now? 80 some odd
00:39:52.360
days until the election? You've got to incentivize people to go back to work. You keep paying out $400
00:39:59.380
per week. That's not going to do a whole lot. It took us what? It was $6 trillion total to get us
00:40:05.620
through four months. That's $18 trillion a year if we were to just keep trying to stimulate the
00:40:09.460
economy all the way through COVID. At the rate that GDP is falling, we won't even have $18 trillion
00:40:15.580
even if we took everybody's money. Can't do that. Got to just push to reopen. And by the way, the
00:40:21.680
American people would be on Trump's side. There's a video that went viral over the weekend
00:40:25.120
of a bunch of good old-fashioned patriots who were at a pro-police rally and a bunch of Antifa
00:40:33.920
thugs, organized leftist vandals came up and started harassing not just a regular ordinary
00:40:39.400
protester, but a guy in a wheelchair. It did not end very well for Antifa.
00:40:43.820
You hear them say, yeah, F you, you communist scum.
00:41:02.820
I mean, these Antifa guys are all wearing black. They're in full, right? They're an organized
00:41:11.620
Bye-bye. Go home. Bye-bye. Oh, s**t. Here we go.
00:41:24.760
Oh, my. And it unfortunately turns violent. These Antifa people had weapons on them, by the
00:41:29.500
way. And so they're coming out. They're harassing this guy in the wheelchair. Initially, they're
00:41:34.440
just being chased out of town. Then it seems to turn into a brawl. Finally, finally, the
00:41:39.400
cops get there and the Antifa people start throwing punches at the cops, which is just
00:41:47.180
This is, we were talking about porn earlier. That is porn to the American people.
00:41:51.480
Watching a bunch of patriots not take it from violent leftist thugs and then watching then
00:41:56.880
those violent leftist thugs get arrested, that is like porn. That is a crack for the
00:42:00.940
American people. Because no matter what stupid nonsense you see on the mainstream media, which
00:42:05.900
pretends that the media are left-wing and they lament how, or they pretend that the media
00:42:10.540
are right-wing, rather, and they lament how there's no left-wing media, even as they're
00:42:14.120
on CNN, no matter what they say, the American people are normal. Mostly normal. They like their
00:42:22.180
liberty. They like their cherished traditions. They don't like it when leftist thugs harass people
00:42:25.380
in wheelchairs. They don't like that. Okay? It does show you a lesson that, first of all,
00:42:29.840
if the cops are not going to enforce order, if the civil authority is not going to enforce order,
00:42:33.340
then civilians are going to do it. We don't like vigilante justice in this country, but someone,
00:42:39.120
someone will impose order. Who's that going to be? I don't think Antifa is turning out very well
00:42:45.340
for the left. I don't think BLM, trained Marxists, are working very well for the left. Actually,
00:42:54.160
the mayor of Portland, Ted Wheeler, completely derelicted his duty. He's let that city go up
00:43:00.620
in flames. But he recently did an interview and he said, stop it. Stop being so violent.
00:43:06.460
You're giving the Trump campaign the ads that they want.
00:43:09.480
This is a political point, so it's a little out of field. Don't think for a moment that you are,
00:43:17.820
if you are participating in this activity, that you are not being a prop for the re-election campaign
00:43:25.300
of Donald Trump, because you absolutely are. You are creating the B-roll film that will be used in
00:43:32.460
ads nationally to help Donald Trump during his campaign. You don't want to be part of that,
00:43:38.920
then don't show up. That's true, but I don't really understand why Mayor Wheeler thinks that
00:43:46.580
it's illegitimate for the right to just film the left doing what they do. Oh, you're playing into the
00:43:55.660
nefarious hands of the Trump campaign by letting them film you doing what you do. It's not like
00:44:02.660
the Trump campaign is making this stuff up. They're just turning on the cameras and letting it play
00:44:06.880
out. This kind of violence in the streets. You notice it's not about one issue or another,
00:44:12.160
right? They're not doing this over COVID or something. The heads of BLMs, they were trained
00:44:16.800
Marxists. What is Marxism? Marxism is the most widespread, pernicious, atheist ideology dedicated
00:44:28.140
to the overthrow of Western civilization that we have ever seen. That's what it is, and we fought
00:44:34.100
a whole Cold War against it. It seems like we haven't totally beaten it out. These issues are not
00:44:38.720
just at the political level. They're not even just at the cultural level. Like Cardinal Manning says,
00:44:42.560
they get down to a religious level as well. You're either on the right side or the wrong side.
00:44:49.920
You're with the angels or you're with the devils. You're with me or against me, to quote scripture.
00:44:55.260
Which side are you on? We can all sit around. I notice this with conservatives. Conservatives
00:45:00.300
always like to sit around and, you know, you could get a room of a hundred conservatives and
00:45:04.840
every single one of them would be a different kind of conservative and all they would want to do is
00:45:08.980
argue about which kind of conservative they are and you'd have the libertarians yelling at
00:45:12.520
the traditionalists and all this kind of stuff. Hostilities are never so hot as when they are
00:45:19.260
within a religion. Intra-religious debates are always much hotter than inter-religious debate.
00:45:26.720
And I bring up religion here too because it's not just about the politics. It's about the religion.
00:45:31.160
I think we are going to have to band together as people who broadly support our cherished traditions,
00:45:39.280
our institutions, our rights, our liberties, our culture, our forefathers, and ultimately our God.
00:45:46.020
We're going to have to band together and get past all of our differences because there is a
00:45:52.300
cold religious civil war going on right now between religion and the secular left and not religion.
00:46:00.880
And when you read those founders whose statues the left is toppling down right now,
00:46:06.620
they all feared that this day would come and they knew that the republic could not withstand it.
00:46:12.860
That is the choice in the election and there is a choice. It's not just all about Trump or President
00:46:17.160
Trump's personality. And ironically, President Trump, who the left always calls so childish,
00:46:22.500
he may be the adult in the room right now. That's the evidence that we're seeing, right? That's what the
00:46:28.460
Trump campaign is making. So which side are you on? Are we going to come together? Are we going to,
00:46:33.580
are we going to join together like Ben Franklin said, or are we going to perish apart? That's
00:46:37.980
our show. I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show. See you tomorrow.

You know, the Matt Walsh Show, it's not just another show about politics. I think there are enough of
00:47:42.320
those already out there. We talk about culture because culture drives politics and it drives
00:47:47.360
everything else. So my main focus is our life, family, faith. Those are fundamental. And that's
00:47:54.680
what this show is about. I hope you'll give it a listen.
