Summary

In the first episode of 2020, Maggie Gyllenhanced our understanding of the coronavirus, the mysterious virus that infected millions of people with a new strain of HIV and spread around the world. What was the link between the virus and the Wuhan Institute of Virology in China? And who is the culprit?

Transcript

00:00:00.000 Okay, so the public health establishment denied the links between the coronavirus and the Wuhan
00:00:06.460 Institute of Virology for a year. Okay, fine. And yes, the media and big tech totally covered up
00:00:13.100 for them and castigated anyone who ever suggested a link as a dangerous conspiracy theorist. And
00:00:18.800 sure, fine, leaked documents out of China do now show that the Wuhan lab very likely
00:00:25.400 had a lot to do with the virus. But the intrepid journalists at CNN and the New York Times,
00:00:32.500 they have found the culprit. Can you guess who the culprit is? I'll give you one, two. It's Trump.
00:00:38.940 It's obviously the culprit is Trump. A lot of the discussion about the lab leak, I think,
00:00:43.400 was clouded early on because there was the suggestion by some that it was somehow a Chinese
00:00:49.240 weapon that caused this. That's not what we're talking about here. We're talking about a lab
00:00:54.740 accident. But we've come a long way from people dismissing this as a conspiracy theory to a lot
00:01:00.140 of people taking this seriously, Maggie. We have, John. And look, I do think it's important to
00:01:03.900 remember that part of the issue when this was first being reported on and discussed
00:01:08.140 back a few months after the pandemic had begun was that then-President Trump and Mike Pompeo,
00:01:13.800 the Secretary of State, both suggested they had seen evidence that this was formed in a lab. And
00:01:19.080 they also suggested it was not released on purpose. But they refused to release the evidence showing
00:01:23.600 what it was. And so because of that, that made this instantly political. I think that it was,
00:01:29.320 you know, example 1000 when the Trump administration learned that when you have burned your own
00:01:33.640 credibility over and over again, people are not immediately going to believe you, especially in
00:01:37.820 an election year. It's like that meme of that guy shooting the other guy. And he says,
00:01:42.760 he says, why did you do this? Why did you, why did you do this, Trump? These radicals have
00:01:47.880 mutilated our government. They're mutilating our young women, an increasing number of whom are coming
00:01:52.000 to regret transgender therapy. We'll get into that. They're mutilating our educational institutions
00:01:56.660 through critical race theory and mandatory porn workshops. We will try to detransition America.
00:02:02.460 I'm Michael Knowles. This is the Michael Knowles Show.
00:02:04.360 My favorite comment yesterday from Deborah Gessner, who observes that Fauci says,
00:02:19.080 we have never funded gain of function research. And Fauci also says, and this is why we had to do it.
00:02:27.020 He does. He does that. A little tricky. Talks out of both sides of his mouth that Fauci,
00:02:31.260 and he's really getting caught up in a major, major lie. How can you spot lies? Well,
00:02:39.200 you got to be educated. How can you be educated? Is it by going off to Harvard? No, I don't,
00:02:44.640 not necessarily. One great way to be educated, The Great Courses Plus. With The Great Courses Plus,
00:02:49.860 you will get thousands of hours of fascinating content across hundreds of topics. You can learn
00:02:56.200 about the history of the Beatles. You can learn about American presidents. You can learn about
00:03:01.400 cooking basics. All things that I actually am interested in. You see, there's the practical
00:03:06.600 stuff. There's the tangible. There's the really intellectual. I love it all. It's really tremendous.
00:03:12.120 And what I love, the lectures are terrific, but I love the technology here because you can start it on
00:03:17.820 your phone. You're driving. You have 15 minutes in your car. Okay, toss it on. Then you stop right
00:03:22.080 wherever you are. You can switch it over to your computer. You get home at night. You got another
00:03:26.080 20 minutes before bed. Toss it on your TV with a glass of wine. Way better than wasting your time
00:03:31.220 on some woke nonsense that's streaming on some TV channel. Do not miss out on this great deal.
00:03:36.500 Go now to thegreatcoursesplus.com slash Knowles to get your free month when you sign up for a
00:03:41.060 quarterly plan. That is thegreatcoursesplus.com slash Knowles. The argument here is that Donald Trump
00:03:47.780 has squandered his credibility. And therefore, when he suggested, and when Mike Pompeo, the Secretary
00:03:54.880 of State, suggested that there might be some link between the virus and the viral institute that was
00:04:01.040 400 yards away from where it was allegedly discovered, that's why nobody believed them in
00:04:06.040 the mainstream media. A lot of us believed him, and we talked about it for a long time, even beginning
00:04:10.700 last year. But the mainstream media, because Trump just lied about so many things, 10 zillion lies that
00:04:16.520 the New York Times covered, that Trump, he's such a liar. Where did he squander his credibility?
00:04:24.200 Where is it? What's the lie? I guess the big lie they point to is that he said that his crowd sizes
00:04:30.860 were like a thousand or so, a few thousand people larger than they were or something. Is that?
00:04:36.520 Because by my count, Donald Trump, when he had a disagreement with the media,
00:04:41.460 was right about virtually everything. And the media and the left, but I repeat myself,
00:04:48.260 were wrong about virtually everything. He was right about the virus. He called, remember early
00:04:55.660 on, he said, this virus is probably a little bit worse than an ordinary flu, so we're going to shut
00:05:00.120 down travel from China. The media said, this is, actually Joe Biden himself said, this is hysterical
00:05:04.880 xenophobia. And then turned out Trump was right about that. But then Trump also said, it's not as bad as
00:05:09.360 now they are making it out to be. He was right about that too. He was right about the vaccine.
00:05:13.620 Do you remember when Donald Trump was arguing with Chris Wallace and Joe Biden at that two-on-one
00:05:18.220 presidential debate? When Trump said, yeah, we're going to get a vaccine within a month or two. We're
00:05:22.920 going to get the vaccine very quickly. It's going to be ready to go by the end of the year. We're
00:05:25.720 going to have people vaccinated by April. And they said, that's crazy, Donald. You've never,
00:05:30.160 all of the experts and your own experts say that it won't happen. And he said, I don't know what
00:05:34.140 they're telling you, but yeah, that's what's going to happen. He was right.
00:05:36.700 The trade deals. Do you remember the trade deals? He's going to destroy the global economy. What
00:05:41.100 happened? The economy went up, up, up, up, up. Peace in Israel. Do you remember that? Trump can't
00:05:46.240 just deal with the Arab states. That's, oh, what an idiot. He's putting Jared Kushner and Avi Berkowitz
00:05:51.360 in charge of Middle East peace. And what happens? Doubles the number of nations that recognize Israel,
00:05:56.120 gives us relative peace in the Middle East. NATO. Oh no, he's going to abandon our NATO allies. Nope.
00:06:01.540 They're just going to start paying more money like he said they would. Lots and lots of other things.
00:06:05.040 I mean, and that barely scratches the surface, but I just, if you look at the facts, every big issue
00:06:11.000 where Trump disagreed with the liberal establishment, just about every single one,
00:06:16.180 he was right and they were wrong. He's got way, way more credibility than the libs do. And it's on,
00:06:22.040 on this Wuhan virology Institute point as well. He said, yeah, I think it probably has something to do
00:06:28.380 with the lab. The media say, absolutely. No, it doesn't. Now they got to fall in line. We're seeing
00:06:32.480 this more and more each day. Scott Gottlieb, who was the former FDA commissioner under Trump
00:06:37.000 has now come out. He said, there is growing circumstantial evidence that the lab had something
00:06:42.780 to do with the virus. And he said this, not on Newsmax, not on OAN, not on the right wing media.
00:06:48.460 He pointed it out on CNBC.
00:06:50.980 Now we know that three of the people who were, who were sick based on this latest report were
00:06:54.820 actually hospitalized. And the timing of that would put it, you know, sufficiently early that it could
00:07:00.760 have triggered this epidemic. There's now more and more reporting and more and more analysis that
00:07:04.520 probably the first cases occurred at some point in the sort of October, November timeframe. And so
00:07:09.680 the timing of these infections would put it within, within that realm. I think the challenge right now
00:07:14.740 is that the, uh, the side of the ledger that supports the thesis that this came from a zoonotic
00:07:19.320 source from an animal source hasn't budged. And the side of the ledger that suggested this could
00:07:23.940 have come out of a lab has been continuing to grow.
00:07:26.100 So, so you got this evidence and, and Scott Gottlieb is trying to be very diplomatic here.
00:07:31.860 And he's like, look, you know, there was evidence that it was from a, an animal source,
00:07:36.020 just a totally natural source without any connection with the Wuhan Institute. But now the evidence that
00:07:41.620 it's from the lab is beginning to grow. I think he's being a little too diplomatic here. Anybody with
00:07:46.240 two brain cells to rub together could have deduced a year ago when the bat coronavirus escaped
00:07:54.620 right next to the bat coronavirus lab that, huh, maybe the bat coronavirus lab has something to
00:07:59.860 do with it. That's, it doesn't take a rocket science. It doesn't take an epidemiologist.
00:08:04.400 Doesn't take a Dr. Fauci to come to that conclusion, but there was a lot of political pressure
00:08:08.800 not to come to that conclusion. And by the way, they had a lot of intel even last year as
00:08:13.980 Maggie Haberman was admitting on, on the news show that there was a lot of intel that Trump and
00:08:21.860 Pompeo alluded to last year that the mainstream media simply chose to ignore. And Mike Pompeo,
00:08:28.220 former secretary of state is now discussing this very intel on television. And he is pointing out
00:08:33.380 a lot of other people in the public health sector had this intel as well.
00:08:38.980 We spent a lot of time working on this problem set in January. We were able to declassify a whole
00:08:44.080 lot of material that I knew about much earlier. I've made remarks over a year ago now in early May of
00:08:49.440 2020 talking about this risk. And it was outrageous. It was outrageous to see scientists,
00:08:55.160 even government, U.S. government scientists who were denying this when they surely must have seen
00:09:00.160 the same information that I had seen. That includes certainly Dr. Fauci as well. We need to know what
00:09:05.700 happened here. The Chinese Communist Party knows what happened here. They know who Patient Zero was.
00:09:10.360 They know precisely where this began. These three individuals who became sick, the symptoms were
00:09:14.880 consistent with what someone would get that would be symptomatic of if they had COVID-19, the Wuhan
00:09:19.760 virus. We need to get to the bottom of this because this could happen again. They're still
00:09:23.540 conducting research in these same laboratories today. It's being done in ways that were similar
00:09:28.120 to what happened back over a year ago. This is dangerous. We could end up with something much
00:09:32.720 like this, again, being foisted upon the world. The United States has a responsibility to demand that
00:09:38.020 the Chinese Communist Party give us the things that they simply know, Dana and Bill. They know the answer to
00:09:43.440 these things and they refuse to hand over this information. Well, who had the information and
00:09:48.380 when? That's, you know, Mike Pompeo, also a bit diplomatic. He was the nation's top diplomat.
00:09:53.560 He's sandwiching that in here. And he's discussing the virus and the connections. He's discussing the
00:09:58.560 virus and the connections at the end. And in the middle, he says, Dr. Fauci had the same intel that
00:10:01.960 I did. These public health geniuses had the same intel that I did, and they chose not to talk about it.
00:10:07.540 I do not have a top secret security clearance, okay? I am not privy to this secret
00:10:12.920 intel that all these guys were getting. And yet, I knew that there was a great likelihood that that
00:10:20.640 Wuhan Institute had something to do with it. You're telling me that Dr. Fauci did not. Plus,
00:10:24.280 Dr. Fauci had intelligence that we all are not privy to. And you're telling me that he did not.
00:10:29.820 This guy who has lied to us, outright lied to us about pretty important things during this pandemic
00:10:37.640 from the very beginning. He lied to us about his true views on the efficacy of masks.
00:10:42.820 What else are they lying to you about? This, this is the thing that I think really
00:10:49.100 separates the, the right, the true right-wingers. You know, not, I'm not talking about the squishy
00:10:54.220 people who basically just exist to prop up the liberal establishment. I'm not talking about the,
00:10:59.040 the ones who write op-eds in the Washington Post about how terrible Republicans are and that sort of
00:11:03.760 thing. You know which ones I'm alluding to. The ones who think that drag queen story hour is a blessing
00:11:07.240 of liberty. I'm not talking about them. I'm talking about the actual conservatives, the actual right
00:11:12.280 wingers. The, the big thing that separates us from the libs, I think, is perspective, sure, ideology,
00:11:21.840 whatever, sure. It's that the conservative has seen the dishonesty. The conservative, it's,
00:11:30.140 it's that example. Drew uses this a lot. You're reading the newspaper and you say, okay, here's an
00:11:35.260 article about Iran. I guess they're right. Okay. Here's an article about the economy. I guess they're
00:11:39.380 right. Here's an article about the Yankees. Wait a second. I know something about the Yankees and this
00:11:43.500 article's wrong. This isn't the truth. Oh, well, here's an article about foreign trade. I guess they're
00:11:49.020 right. You think the one thing I know about, I can tell they're being dishonest here, but I guess I'm
00:11:54.480 going to continue to believe them on other things. When the liberal establishment is this corrupt,
00:11:59.300 they have such a losing track record. They keep getting things wrong and wrong and wrong,
00:12:04.220 whether through incompetence or through dishonesty, intentional lies.
00:12:10.480 If you recognize that, then you're just not going to fall for it. And you think,
00:12:13.780 what else are they lying to me about? Maybe, sure, they're lying about some of the virus stuff. Yeah,
00:12:20.960 they're lying about this, that, and the other thing. But there are even big lies. If I can borrow a
00:12:26.040 phrase that's very popular right now, a big one, probably the biggest ideological delusion that's
00:12:32.420 being foisted on us right now is transgenderism. And it's having really negative effects for a lot
00:12:37.400 of women and girls. Got to protect yourself from this stuff. One great way to protect yourself
00:12:42.280 from threats outside, ring. I love knowing that at my house, we can protect ourself against,
00:12:48.800 you know, the bad guys who want to break in, but we can even protect ourself against
00:12:52.560 unwanted house guests. I'm not saying the in-laws. I'm not, I'm just saying I like to know who is on
00:12:59.260 the doorstep before I open the door. Okay. And with Ring and with Rings, easy to install indoor and
00:13:04.920 outdoor cameras, you can see and speak to whoever is at your door. Head on over to ring.com slash

00:13:20.720 when I am on the road because I know not just that I can check in on my house or something like that,
00:13:25.840 but I just know that sweet little Elise and cute little June will know who is outside that door
00:13:29.340 before they open the door. Really great, great way. Great housewarming gift too, because it's super
00:13:35.720 cool. Keeps your friends safe and not that expensive. So you get credit for a great gift.

00:13:52.460 The big delusional ideology that is being pushed right now by the liberal establishment, it's not
00:13:58.420 just by the blue haired radicals on the crazy college campus in the middle of nowhere. This is
00:14:03.660 an ideology being pushed by the biggest corporations, the biggest tech platforms and, and the government
00:14:09.120 itself. Transgenderism. It's not, don't forget, you've got major companies all waving the transgender
00:14:19.300 flag. Did you know there's a transgender flag? Apparently there is. And this is everyone celebrating
00:14:24.300 this sort of thing. The actress Ellen Page, who is now calling herself Elliot. But you know,
00:14:28.460 I think I'm going to stop doing this. I think I'm going to stop indulging in the name changes
00:14:32.300 because we, for a long time have set up, we're not going to indulge in the pronouns because I'm
00:14:39.700 not going to call her him. You can't force me to lie. Some people are doing that though. Some people
00:14:44.860 are going along with it or they're, they're just choosing not to use the pronouns or they're going
00:14:48.060 to use the, the singular they as though, you know, we've got lots of demons inside of us and we are
00:14:53.280 Legion or something. But we've said, okay, you know, we on the conservative side, we said, we're not
00:14:57.700 going to go with the pronouns, but we will call them whatever name they want. If they, you know,
00:15:01.580 anyone can change their name. That's perfectly fine. No, I don't think so.
00:15:07.880 Caitlin is a girl's name. Caitlin's not a boy's name. So if I refer to Caitlin Jenner as him,
00:15:13.060 but I continue to refer to him as Caitlin, I'm still kind of confusing the issue, aren't I?
00:15:18.880 I don't know that you can just go along and change your name willy nilly like that.
00:15:23.360 It's a little confusing because you've got George Eliot, one of the greatest female novelists of all
00:15:27.340 time. And you've got Evelyn Waugh. It's not a lady, not Evelyn, you know, it's not a,
00:15:31.580 not a gal. He's a guy. So I know, look, there's a little ambiguity with the names,
00:15:36.260 a little more so than with the pronouns, but I think I'm going to have to go with Ellen Page.
00:15:40.140 So Ellen Page posts this photo of herself topless. This photo would not be permitted
00:15:45.220 for if any other woman did it, but because Ellen Page is pretending to be a man,
00:15:50.420 she gets to post this picture and she looks much more like a boy. She's had breast mutilation.
00:15:56.300 She's got some abs now. I don't know if that was surgical or if that's, you know, from lifting
00:16:01.960 weights or something like that, from doing crunches. You can tell I don't really know exactly
00:16:05.180 how these muscle groups are developed. Man, it's not my thing. Wearing men's swim trunks and saying,
00:16:10.860 you know, look, I'm, I'm a boy now. Look, look how happy I am. Big smile on her face.
00:16:14.520 A lot of women and girls and a lot of boys and men for that matter are now seeing this and saying
00:16:23.160 how wonderful it is. I can choose to look like the other sex. I can really become the other sex
00:16:29.700 if I suffer either from a psychological delusion that I am or from this impulse that I very much
00:16:35.280 want to be this, or if it's just, I'm taken up in the social contagion that boys are girls and girls
00:16:39.860 are boys. And I think that's cool. So, you know, if a girl goes through a tomboy phase when she's 12,
00:16:44.540 all of a sudden she's going to mutilate her body in some ways that are irreversible.
00:16:49.180 There is another side here, as you can probably tell from the way that I'm discussing this issue.
00:16:53.400 There is another side here. There's a lot of regret going on and CBS News got to give them,
00:16:58.260 got to give them credit where credit's due. 60 Minutes ran a special about transgender regret and
00:17:05.180 the girls who regret looking like boys and the boys who regret looking like girls. In her early 20s,
00:17:11.220 Grace Ladinsky-Smith was seriously depressed and developed gender dysphoria. She began searching
00:17:17.940 for answers in transgender communities on the internet. And when I saw them being so happy and
00:17:23.740 excited about doing this wonderful transformative process to really like become their true selves,
00:17:29.880 it was like, have I considered that this could be my situation too? Grace says she found a gender
00:17:36.260 therapist on the internet and told her, I'm thinking of transitioning. Because she was over 18 and didn't
00:17:43.820 need parental consent, she says she merely signed an informed consent form at a clinic and got hormone
00:17:50.440 shots. Just four months after she started testosterone, she says she was approved for a mastectomy,
00:17:57.140 what's called top surgery, that she told us was traumatic. I started to have a really disturbing
00:18:03.480 sense that like a part of my body was missing, almost a ghost limb feeling about being like,
00:18:10.140 there's something that should be there. And the feeling really surprised me, but it was really hard
00:18:14.560 to deny. And so she detransitioned by going off testosterone. You get the idea. This goes on and on.
00:18:22.880 And I recommend you watch the whole thing. Very pretty girl going through a bad period where she
00:18:29.580 was depressed. And then some perverts and, and psychos and, and idiots. I mean, to be, to be fair
00:18:36.520 to them, some of these people might just be stupid, but I think a lot of them are just perverts and
00:18:40.600 they're, they're preying on people's confusion. But some of them might just be totally ignorant
00:18:45.700 and stupid. They take advantage of this. And they say, oh yeah, you want to mutilate yourself?
00:18:50.840 You want to lop off perfectly healthy organs? Fine by me. Here you go.
00:18:55.340 And by the way, it's not just children. You'll hear the, a lot of conservatives say, well, you know,
00:19:00.380 look, whatever adults want to do, that's fine, but just don't do it to the kids. Well, she was an
00:19:04.540 adult, right? So this, this woman was 18 years old. Do you think it's right that some pervert doctor
00:19:10.460 was, was able to facilitate this depressed, troubled woman's decision to mutilate her own body,
00:19:17.620 which she almost instantly came to regret and has now gone back a little bit,
00:19:22.180 but has suffered irreversible damage. Do you think that's good? I don't.
00:19:28.180 I think there are, you know, as there often are, I think there are probably three positions on this
00:19:32.900 issue. The left's position is trans everybody, including and especially the kids, right? Drag
00:19:39.560 queen story hour into schools. Let's confuse kids on their sex. Let's teach kids in preschool as
00:19:44.060 they're doing in Brooklyn. That little boys can be little girls and let's get everybody on
00:19:47.560 transgender ideology. Then there's the middle squish position, which a lot of self-styled
00:19:52.160 conservatives hold, which is bad for kids. But if adults want to mutilate their bodies, totally fine.
00:19:57.020 And then there's the actual conservative position, which is, I don't care if you're 18. I don't care
00:20:00.540 if you're 80. You should not be able to do this. Doctors should not be mutilating perfectly healthy
00:20:05.980 body parts. And people who are troubled and want to do this or believe that they have to do this to
00:20:12.060 be their true selves are disturbed people and they need psychological help, but they don't need
00:20:16.440 their bodies mutilated to make their problems worse. That's, those are the, those are the three
00:20:20.220 positions. Pick, pick your choice. There, you know, the, the, the left authoritarian position
00:20:26.900 and then the nice, wonderful, liberal, open-minded position like women such as this who are 18 years
00:20:33.180 old should be able to mutilate themselves even if they're going to regret it terribly. And then there's
00:20:36.700 the right wing authoritarian, they're going to call it authoritarian position that you shouldn't be
00:20:41.160 able to mutilate perfectly healthy body parts and take advantage of disturbed people.
00:20:46.120 Where do you fall in that issue? I think you can tell which side I fall on. It's horrible what
00:20:51.440 we've done to these girls. And it's, it's obviously this is a, the topic of Abigail Schreier's book,
00:20:56.360 Irreversible Damage, which I, I think I blurbed that book. I loved it so much in, in the advanced copy
00:21:02.560 and then it became a big, a big seller. So I recommend you go out and read that one. This is not just one
00:21:07.280 isolated case that CBS News is covering. This is happening a lot and it's happening increasingly.
00:21:12.400 And for parents who don't know what to do, I, I understand how confused one would be,
00:21:17.660 especially if your kid's going to public school where this insanity is being foisted on them
00:21:22.200 constantly. And you've got a kid who is very confused about this. I understand it's a hard
00:21:25.940 decision to, what do I do? What do I, you've got a family member who's going through this,
00:21:29.360 but there's a dark side to this story that only very rarely comes out into public light. So
00:21:34.780 well done to CBS for, for covering it at all. These are transparent lies to tell that pretty
00:21:41.540 girl, that pretty 18 year old girl, you're actually a boy and you need to mutilate yourself. That is a,
00:21:46.420 such a transparent, she's not a boy and she's, she wasn't a boy when she underwent the surgery and
00:21:51.920 she's still not a boy now that she recognizes that she's a woman. Probably has some resentment,
00:21:57.220 maybe not hopefully, you know, but I probably would have some resentment at a culture and at
00:22:01.320 these sicko doctors who would take advantage of me. The lies are so transparent. Obviously this one,
00:22:08.900 that a boy is a girl, the lies are even more transparent though. Jen Psaki is trying to convince
00:22:12.860 us of something even more preposterous. Jen Psaki is trying to convince us that Joe Biden is energetic.
00:22:20.460 What more can you tell us about the president's health regime? We hear he's lifting weights.
00:22:25.960 What sort of weights is he lifting? Does he have a personal trainer? And what happened to his
00:22:30.040 Peloton bike? Did he bring it to the, to the white house? I didn't know where this was going. Um,
00:22:35.120 but I'm intrigued by it. Um, I, I will say I have nothing to read out on the president's,
00:22:40.280 uh, private exercise regime. Uh, but I can tell you having traveled with him a fair amount,
00:22:46.380 um, sometimes he's hard to keep up with. Sometimes he's hard to keep, like when he goes wandering
00:22:50.760 off in the middle of the night and doesn't know where he is, I suppose that would be hard to keep up.
00:22:53.820 But I don't think that during the usual course of the day, he's particularly hard
00:22:57.620 to keep up with. Joe, do you remember during the campaign, Joe Biden would be, he'd be walking out
00:23:05.220 of an office. There's a video of this. He's walking out of an office and you've got one of his staffers
00:23:09.340 holding him by the arm, like you would hold an elderly relative and say, okay, over here. And the
00:23:13.320 reporters are saying, Hey, Mr. Biden, Mr. Biden. I said, no questions, no questions, please. I guess
00:23:18.560 Joe wasn't having a good day. They'll call a lid on campaign events at what? Like one 30 in the
00:23:23.480 afternoon. No, he's not. Give me a break. I get it. I know that press secretaries have to spin,
00:23:31.200 but you cannot, you can convince me of a lot of things that you cannot convince me
00:23:35.880 that Joe Biden is energetic. If they're lying to you about that, what else are they lying to you about?
00:23:41.960 If they're lying to you about the origins of the virus, what else are they lying to you about?
00:23:46.120 If they're lying to you about when the vaccine's going to come up, what else are they lying to you
00:23:49.800 about? If they're lying to you about boys being girls and girls being boys, what else are they
00:23:53.120 lying to you about? If you want to break through the lies, I think you should check out my friend
00:23:57.240 Liz Wheeler's new show. You know, Liz Wheeler, Liz Wheeler had a popular TV show. Then she went away.
00:24:04.160 She disappeared. Where'd she go? I knew where she went, but I'm not sure everyone else did. She had a
00:24:08.040 baby and took care of that baby and then had the baby come in. Somehow she's like in fighting
00:24:12.660 form all the way again. And Liz Wheeler is launching the Liz Wheeler show. Episode one drops today. You
00:24:19.060 can get it all over the podcast apps and you can get it on her YouTube channel. So go check that out.
00:24:23.300 Also, I sat down with Liz. We talked about a whole wide range of things from Dr. Fauci and the masks
00:24:30.080 all the way to space aliens. And you can check that out on my YouTube channel this Saturday. You're not
00:24:34.020 going to want to miss Liz either on my channel or on her show. America may currently be in the middle
00:24:39.160 of a gas shortage, but we're even shorter on sanity. If you ask me, that's why you should join
00:24:44.060 Jeremy, Ben, Matt, and me tomorrow night for another cigar and logic packed episode of Backstage.

00:25:38.220 Jen Psaki says that Joe Biden is sometimes he's tough to keep up with. Oh man, he's so energetic.
00:25:45.960 Judge for yourself. Coincidentally, Joe Biden just gave a commencement speech,
00:25:54.180 the first commencement speech of his presidency at the Coast Guard Academy. So he was talking to these
00:25:59.000 young cadets and coincidentally, Ronald Reagan also gave a speech to the Coast Guard Academy.
00:26:05.740 Ronald Reagan, the oldest president in American history up until that point, then beat out by
00:26:12.700 Trump and then beat out by Joe Biden. Listen to the two speeches. Tell me which one seems more
00:26:19.100 energetic. My Coast Guard aides have been excellent. One of them taught me that, and I quote,
00:26:25.620 the Coast Guard is that hard nucleus about which the Navy forms in time of war.
00:26:34.740 I can only assume that you will enjoy educating your family about how the Coast Guard is, quote,
00:26:42.440 the hard nucleus around the Navy forms in times of war. You are quite, you're a really dull class.
00:26:50.900 Oh, no. Look, Ronald Reagan is one of the great orators in American history, and Joe Biden cannot
00:27:00.500 string a sentence together. But Joe Biden used to be able to string a sentence together. This is not
00:27:04.940 just making fun of old Joe. He's just not talented at this. Joe Biden has a lot of deficiencies. He's
00:27:11.300 dishonest and he's not particularly intelligent, but he was always a good talker. The guy always had the
00:27:15.140 gift of gab. He was a smiling, simpering, back-slapping politician. That's, that's all he
00:27:20.440 did. And if you look at clips of him from five, 10 years ago, he was speaking just fine. But he's
00:27:25.340 slowed down. He's obviously losing something. Probably not too difficult to keep up. The only
00:27:30.780 way he's difficult to keep up with is people have no idea what he's saying. He's a U and the marmy and
00:27:35.120 the small nucleus and corn, corn. What does that mean? You're a dull class. I will say one nice
00:27:45.520 thing about Joe Biden. Joe Biden, I have to, I want to be fair. I want to be a real journalist,
00:27:50.400 unlike the ones on cable news, CNN and all those places. Joe Biden is reportedly dropping student loan
00:27:57.180 forgiveness, which is, this is a promise he made during the campaign. He said that he was going to
00:28:02.040 forgive certain student loans. Well, the budget is here and four months into his term, people still
00:28:08.440 want Biden to forgive $10,000 in federal student loans for every borrower. And according to Yahoo
00:28:14.240 Finance, probably not going to happen. So that's good. This is going to be used as evidence among
00:28:19.480 squishes that Joe Biden is not as radical as he said he would be. This is a very small, minor win
00:28:25.900 for conservatives in an overall radical agenda, the most radical agenda ever. So yes, that's good. I'm
00:28:31.940 glad that Joe Biden won't be forgiving 10 G's of student loan debt. This would have been very hard
00:28:36.000 for him to do because even though the left wants it, especially the more affluent, radical, whiter
00:28:43.340 Democrat base really was into this. But the fact is a relatively small number of people graduate from
00:28:51.680 college and have these sorts of student loans. So you would, you would have a situation where you'd have
00:28:57.700 people who don't go to college subsidizing these relatively affluent people who do go to college.
00:29:02.960 It's just a political loser for Biden. So he's going to drop that, but he's going to be pushing
00:29:06.360 through lots of radical agenda items. We've already seen that. We've seen a hint at even crazier things
00:29:11.480 like court packing, adding new states, totally upending, federalizing elections. So minor win
00:29:16.860 overall, but, but as a rule, the, the administration is the most radical one we've ever seen. How do we
00:29:22.960 fight back against this? Well, governor Ron DeSantis is showing us one way to do it. Ron DeSantis
00:29:28.920 just signed an anti big tech bill. I love this. The anti big tech bill does three things in particular.
00:29:39.060 Says that all Floridians who are treated unfairly by big tech companies will have the right to sue
00:29:43.780 the companies that violate the law and win monetary damages. So it safeguards certain rights of Floridians
00:29:51.680 by requiring social media companies to be transparent about how they're moderating content. Right now it's
00:29:56.640 very opaque. They do not publish the rules and very often they violate their own rules to give users
00:30:01.460 proper notice if they're going to change the rules and it's going to protect, prevent big tech
00:30:05.420 bureaucrats from moving the goalposts to silence viewpoints that they don't like, which really means
00:30:09.700 conservatives. Okay. That's good. I like that. Number two, the attorney general of Florida can bring
00:30:14.420 action against big tech companies that violate the law. That's good. They'll be using Florida's unfair and
00:30:20.180 deceptive trade practices act. That's really good. If they're found to have violated antitrust law,
00:30:24.460 they'll be restricted from contracting with any public entities. So they're going to break up a
00:30:28.160 little bit the relationship between big tech and the government. And big tech is prohibited from
00:30:32.800 deplatforming Floridian political candidates. So now you see politicians definitely going to start
00:30:37.640 protecting themselves. The Florida election commission will impose fines of a quarter million dollars
00:30:42.520 per day on any social media company that deplatforms any candidate for statewide office
00:30:48.360 offices and 25 grand per day for deplatforming candidates for non-statewide offices.
00:30:54.120 So obviously, look, any social media user can just block candidates or not follow candidates that
00:30:59.520 they don't want to see. But that is a right in DeSantis' view that belongs to the citizens.
00:31:05.180 I like this. I'm glad that they're doing this. There are going to be, as usual, three positions on
00:31:11.520 this. The left is going to hate it because the left uses the big tech companies to enforce their
00:31:16.860 political agenda without democratic accountability. Right? The left can rely on these private
00:31:21.540 companies and can rely on the rights, you know, decades long shilling for private companies
00:31:27.340 to enforce their political agenda without having to go through usual political democratic means.
00:31:32.800 Okay. That's the left's view. Then there's the squish moderate view, which is the, well,
00:31:36.520 build your own Twitter, build your own Facebook. This is wrong. We need to, there's nothing more
00:31:42.180 conservative than letting hipster Rasputin in Silicon Valley silence half of the country.
00:31:48.080 That's just democracy. Oh no. James Madison would be furious that we're not letting Mark Zuckerberg
00:31:53.840 control our politics or something, right? That's, you can tell my view of, of that particular opinion.
00:32:00.060 Then there's the conservative view, which is use the state to put pressure on these private companies
00:32:06.680 to stop them from controlling and dominating our politics. I know some conservatives are going to be
00:32:11.360 uncomfortable with that because they've imbibed this pseudo squishy libertarian bumper sticker
00:32:17.840 Bush era slogan airing, but there's nothing conservative about letting hipster Rasputin run
00:32:23.020 our public discourse. Okay. Nothing conservative about that at all. It is good. It is positively good
00:32:29.240 and conservative to use the enforcement arm of the state wisely. We're not anarchists. I know that if
00:32:36.660 you listen to some of the ridiculous propaganda from the squish wing of the GOP over the last 20
00:32:41.260 years, you would think that, that Republicans are anarchists, that we don't think it's ever
00:32:45.260 legitimate for the government to do anything because we want small government. According to
00:32:49.480 that, we don't want small government. We want limited government. We want government to stay
00:32:52.560 within its limits. We want, but we want government to do the things it's supposed to do. And one of
00:32:56.780 those things is to prevent zillionaire oligarchs in the most radical parts of the country from
00:33:01.680 controlling our entire political system. So good on DeSantis. Glad that he's signing this bill.
00:33:06.080 He's not stopping there though, baby. No way. Ron has his eyes, I think, on a big political prize.
00:33:11.560 So he's doing a lot as governor. I'm glad to see that. Incentives are obviously aligned.
00:33:15.720 Ron DeSantis is going after critical race theory. He's trying to boot it out of Florida classrooms.
00:33:21.260 You can put lipstick on a pig. It's still a pig. And, uh, you know, you can rename. So what we're
00:33:27.980 doing, the department of the Florida board of education is meeting, um, and they are addressing this.
00:33:34.140 It's offensive to the taxpayer that they would be asked to fund critical race theory, that they
00:33:40.140 would be asked to fund teaching kids to hate their country and to hate each other. It's also based on
00:33:47.540 false history. When they try to look back and, and, and denigrate the founding fathers, denigrate
00:33:54.320 the American revolution, doing all these different things that even very liberal historians say
00:34:00.720 is not supported by the facts. And so I think what we need is we need the constitution back in
00:34:07.100 classrooms. We need to make sure civics is a priority, but it needs to be taught accurately.
00:34:12.500 It needs to be taught in a fact-based way, not an ideological base way. And we are, if we have to
00:34:19.420 play whack-a-mole all over the state, stopping this critical race theory, we will do it. We'll be
00:34:25.420 taking action. Don't you worry. All right. Love it. I, this is a very conservative perspective.
00:34:30.340 What are the three views on this? The liberal view, the left-wing view rather, is the one that
00:34:34.560 we need to indoctrinate kids to hate their country. Basically, or they say the country's evil. We've got
00:34:38.780 to teach them that the country's evil. We've got to teach them that whiteness is evil and needs to
00:34:42.320 be abolished. And this, we got to put this stuff in the classrooms. It's got to be mandatory.
00:34:45.800 The squish view, well, maybe we should just have different perspectives. And so in one class,
00:34:50.160 they teach you to hate your country. And then in the other class, they teach you,
00:34:52.860 maybe you don't hate your country so much. And that'd be cool. And then there's the conservative
00:34:56.000 view, which is this stuff is poison. This stuff undermines education. There is no real such thing
00:35:02.580 as academic freedom. It's never existed in practice. In the words of Bill Buckley, launching
00:35:07.040 the conservative movement after World War II, he said it was a hoax and a superstition. Don't fall for
00:35:11.820 it. There's a thought that undermines thought. And that's the only thought that ought to be stopped
00:35:15.540 to borrow an idea from Chesterton. So you got to kick it out. You can't just expand the curriculum
00:35:21.720 forever. There's only so many weeks in the semester. There's only so, only so many books
00:35:25.620 you can read. If you're reading Ibram Kendi, you're not reading a good book. If you're reading
00:35:29.660 Robin DiAngelo, you are missing out on reading a worthwhile book that will teach you something.
00:35:33.920 So boot it out, ban them, censor them, cancel them, get them out of there. That is the conservative
00:35:38.440 point of view, which I expound upon in my upcoming book, Speechless, Controlling Words,
00:35:42.120 Controlling Minds, available now for pre-order. Critical race theory is not the only crazy thing
00:35:47.260 that's being taught in schools. There's critical race theory, don't forget. It's just one derivation
00:35:52.140 of critical theory, which is actually just one major, but only one component of the politically
00:35:57.620 correct project. But there are a lot of other crazy things being taught in schools. Right now,
00:36:02.860 students attending the Columbia Grammar and Preparatory School in Manhattan, this is a very
00:36:07.320 expensive school. I think it costs just shy of 50 G's a year to attend. They are being forced
00:36:15.340 to take an explicit class on porn without parental consent. Would be bad enough to force them to take
00:36:24.320 the class on porn. They're not even telling the parents, echoing sorts of things we've heard a lot
00:36:28.980 this year, where radical educators will say, hey, be careful. The problem with Zoom class is the parents
00:36:36.060 will know what's being taught. You got to be very careful. Don't you think the parents maybe should
00:36:40.480 know what's being taught? No, it's very bad, very bad for their education. So at this school,
00:36:44.820 they were teaching a very explicit porn class. And I'm not just saying like the birds and the bees
00:36:48.820 and look at this and look at this flesh mashing up against this flesh. I'm talking about like very,
00:36:53.320 I'm not going to say it on the show. This is a family program, but like really graphic, gross
00:36:59.140 stuff. The class involved a slideshow and a lecture by an instructor, which included lots of raunchy
00:37:04.860 images, lots of presentations on the most lurid porn genres and only fans, which is the democratization
00:37:10.540 of porn. And if you oppose this sort of thing, you will be called closed minded. Oh, come on.
00:37:16.100 You're just a prude. You're just, you're a prude. Come on. That's fine. What could go wrong with porn?
00:37:21.720 Well, we're hearing what goes wrong with porn. How many people write into this show? I've read
00:37:25.780 them in the mailbag. People write in all the time and say, we got to do something about porn. This is
00:37:30.060 really bad stuff. Do you know who's writing? It's not the old fuddy duddies writing in. It's not the
00:37:34.560 boomers. The boomers seem to be the ones who are most fine with porn. They say, oh, it's not a big deal.
00:37:39.300 They tend to fall a little more in that squish libertarian camp. Oh, come on. It's not, come
00:37:44.720 on. Looking at porn, that's as American as apple pie. It's protected by the first amendment. It's
00:37:48.980 not a big deal. But the people who write into me and say, this is a big deal are the young men who
00:37:53.560 get hooked on this stuff. I think the median age is something like 11, according to surveys. So they
00:37:59.860 get hooked on this stuff before they can know anything about it. It ruins their lives. It messes up
00:38:04.260 their relationships. It hurts women. Obviously the industry hurts women, but just even the kind
00:38:09.220 of vision of sex that it presents is very degrading toward women, messes up people's relationships,
00:38:14.640 messes, there's a epidemic of young men who, who have ED because they're hooked on porn.
00:38:22.240 They're, and it's not, you're used to just read about these stories in Japan. Apparently this has
00:38:25.880 come to the West as well. It's really, really bad stuff. Why would that be taught in schools? Oh,
00:38:31.700 come on, keep an open mind. Obviously we used to know this in this country, but now we've forgotten
00:38:39.160 it. Liberty and licentiousness are not the same thing. They're opposite things. If you arouse
00:38:43.320 people's vices and base passions, you're going to undermine their true liberty. Kick it out. Fire
00:38:48.640 teachers who push this. Not, don't just vote with your dollars. Vote with your politics. Use your
00:38:54.760 government. Get this stuff. Take a lesson from DeSantis. DeSantis knows what's up. Pay attention to this
00:39:00.320 stuff and kick it out. Porn has become, in a certain sense, it's become part of the liturgy of,
00:39:06.460 of liberalism. But there's, and I won't get into too graphic detail of what these liturgical practices
00:39:12.560 look like, but it really has sort of become part of it. It is something that one enacts. It is
00:39:17.860 considered good. Do you remember at the start of COVID when people were told they couldn't see one
00:39:22.240 another? The New York City Health Department encouraged people to, how do I put this, to use Woody
00:39:28.740 Allen's term, to have sex with someone you love, you know, alone in a room. And this was being
00:39:34.480 encouraged. This is a good thing. It's good for your health. Blow off a little steam. I've heard
00:39:39.100 this described that in, in historically speaking, our views of the mind tend to map onto our views of
00:39:47.800 technology. So when the printing press was big, we had this view that what was being imprinted on your
00:39:53.960 mind, that's, that's going to form your mind. To some degree, that's true. When the steam engine was
00:39:58.600 the big technology, we were told, you had Freud, right? You had this idea that you have to, you
00:40:02.280 have to stop repressing things. You need to let off a little bit of steam, right? And to a lesser
00:40:07.040 degree, that's not quite true. Now today, our view of the mind is that the mind is like a computer
00:40:11.540 because the computer is the main technology. So you should be able to upload things and download
00:40:14.840 things and also upgrade your, your mind or something like that. Okay. I, I understand all these
00:40:22.240 various theories of the mind. When you blow off a little steam with something like porn, you know,
00:40:27.500 if you get, when you forget even just porn for a second with any kind of vice, if you think that
00:40:31.480 if you commit a vice, that's going to blow off a little steam, that's not really how it works.
00:40:36.460 The more vice you commit, the more you're going to commit, the more virtue you practice,
00:40:39.620 the more you're going to practice. That's the way it works. We've known this since good old
00:40:42.080 uncle Aristotle, but we seem to have forgotten it. The purpose of education, liberal education is to
00:40:46.500 train yourself in that liberty. So do it. Any education that undermines that is the sort of thing you got
00:40:51.600 a boot out of the classroom. Speaking of leftist liturgical practices, Mayor Bill de Blasio,
00:40:58.860 it says he's going to kneel during an event in Harlem to mark the one year anniversary of George
00:41:04.420 Floyd's death. He's going to kneel for nine minutes and 29 seconds, which is the amount of time that the
00:41:10.500 police officer, Derek Chauvin was kneeling on George Floyd's neck and back. And he's going to kneel
00:41:15.660 and that's, he's going to do it at the event hosted by race hustling extortionist Al Sharpton
00:41:20.480 and his national action shakedown network. And, and this is going to call for the passage of some
00:41:26.480 new George Floyd bill. First of all, it seems pretty bizarre to honor George Floyd by reenacting
00:41:36.180 what his ostensible murderer did to kill him. Isn't that weird? Like he would never, if you were to,
00:41:43.280 the guy were, were murdered by in a shooting, would you honor him by going to the shooting range and
00:41:50.160 just pew, pew, pew, or, or acting that out with your hand, pew, pew, pew. And now I'm honoring him.
00:41:53.780 No, that's very strange. Uh, but moreover, it's also just absolutely disgusting that this absolutely
00:42:00.560 sensationalized event where that involved the death of a career criminal, uh, who was actively resisting
00:42:07.180 arrest and committing crimes as he was arrested. Not to say that maybe the cop was using excess force,
00:42:12.160 but I think we heard during that trial that it didn't seem like he was necessarily using excessive
00:42:16.440 force. He was following certain protocols, but maybe not others. And anyway, it was complicated
00:42:19.840 and the jury seems to have been compromised as well. And you had political leaders on the left
00:42:24.580 putting a lot of pressure on the, on the jury to convict him of murder, which the, even the judge
00:42:29.260 himself said is probably going to help you on appeal all to say it's a complicated story. It's disgusting
00:42:33.900 that we have got political leaders honoring this kind of person. We went through yesterday on the show
00:42:41.180 how we're, we're told that there's a, uh, an epidemic of anti-black white supremacist hate
00:42:48.340 crime in this country. And it's just not true. You look at the statistics, black people are much
00:42:52.360 more likely to commit hate crimes than white people are much more likely as a, as a percentage of the,
00:42:58.480 as a, you know, relative to their proportion in the population. But you just don't hear about those
00:43:03.240 stories. I had a liberal, liberal friend asked me, well, why, Michael, why do we always see these
00:43:06.760 police shootings? Because the media want to sensationalize them to create a, a racially
00:43:11.160 divisive narrative. That's, that's obviously why. And that's what's going on right now. It's
00:43:14.680 disgusting stuff. But even beyond that, just look at the action. De Blasio is going to kneel down for
00:43:20.080 the nine minutes. This is a perfectly natural human longing. This is a religious ritual. I go kneel down
00:43:26.860 on Sundays when I'm at mass and I kneel down to, in, in the memorial sacrifice of, of a death,
00:43:35.220 of a redemptive death, the redemptive death of redeemed mankind of Christ on the cross. That's a,
00:43:39.920 that's a liturgy, that's a religious ritual that I'm doing. And all people have religious rituals.
00:43:44.740 Moreover, they must have religious rituals because man is a fundamentally religious being.
00:43:50.240 And when you recognize that you're engaging in religious liturgy,
00:43:55.060 you can think about it a little more clearly. You can apply more rigor and logic to,
00:43:59.740 and systematic thought. When you're completely unaware of it, as the left is, as, as Bill de
00:44:04.440 Blasio is, you get into some really kooky stuff, some really superstitious stuff. Speaking of leftist
00:44:10.740 rituals, AOC, AOC, another, another one of the goddesses in the pantheon of modern leftism,
00:44:18.360 another icon and quasi-religious figure, depending on who you're talking to. She is opening up about
00:44:26.380 how ever since the January 6th insurrection, she has been going through therapy. She's had a very
00:44:34.040 difficult time. She still has not recovered from that trauma. After the 6th, I took some time and
00:44:42.500 it was really Ayanna Pressley when I explained to her what had happened to me, like the day of,
00:44:48.060 because I ran to her office and she was like, you need to recognize trauma and that this is something
00:44:54.680 that you went through, but we're all going through. And, and it's really important to pause after that
00:45:02.280 because that's how you process it. And I feel like I learned this the hard way after my father had
00:45:10.020 passed away when I was a teenager. So that happened to me at a young age and I socked it away and I,
00:45:16.220 I had to live with that for years. So you're doing therapy? Yeah. Oh yeah. I, I'm doing therapy,
00:45:24.020 but also I've just slowed down. I think the Trump administration had a lot of us, especially Latino
00:45:31.380 communities in a very reactive mode. I have no doubt that AOC, uh, endured suffering as a child,
00:45:40.900 as a teenager when her father died. Coincidentally, it is very strange parallels between my life and
00:45:45.960 hers because we grew up in the towns right next to each other at, at exactly the same time. And I,
00:45:50.460 I also lost a parent when I was a teenager and it's a very difficult thing. I, I do not in any way
00:45:55.460 minimize the trauma and suffering of that. You like to think that over time heals all wounds and
00:46:00.280 over time you can get over that and go on, move on and live your life. I hope, so I hope she can do
00:46:05.460 that. I've no doubt that's a real trauma. I don't think that January 6th was a real trauma for her
00:46:10.800 because she lied about it. She, or I'm sorry, let me be more specific. She exaggerated it.
00:46:16.060 She, you can't say she lied because all she ever talked about was her feelings. She said,
00:46:19.100 I felt as though I was about to be killed. I felt as though my life was at risk. So sure,
00:46:24.240 I guess that's your feelings. I can't, I can't, I can't disagree with what you felt subjectively,
00:46:29.200 but she never was at risk of dying. She wasn't even in the Capitol that day. She was across the
00:46:32.980 street or rather down the street. It was a bit of a walk away. She was in her office building and
00:46:37.440 no one busted in there. It was actually a cop who came in to protect her and she's milked this for
00:46:41.780 all it's worth. And she says, I'm, I'm just in the trauma. I'm so broken. I've had to slow down.
00:46:45.620 I'm in the therapy for this. I can't, it's hard to process and I can't, it's really traumatic.
00:46:49.480 Like we are exalting weakness and, and brokenness in this leftist culture. We are exalting these
00:46:59.480 things. We are actually trying to find ways to claim that we are broken, hurt, aggrieved,
00:47:06.020 disordered, unstable. It's, it's got cachet. It's got social currency. If you are really that messed
00:47:13.860 up, if you're really that shaken up and you can't handle it, you should not be in government. You
00:47:18.360 should not be in political leadership. You can't, you got to be tough. It's hard, but you got to be
00:47:23.220 tough. You got to move on. You got to take chin up, stiff upper lip and move on. No matter what,
00:47:29.540 look, everybody goes through traumas. Everybody goes through suffering. Sometimes it's real like
00:47:34.860 AOC had when she was a teenager. Sometimes it's contrived, like she exaggerated in her office
00:47:39.740 building on January 6th. But whatever it is, maybe she felt, maybe she felt terrible on January. I don't
00:47:44.660 know, got chin up. You got to cut this out. We've got to stop mutilating ourselves ideologically,
00:47:53.000 philosophically, physically. We've got to stop mutilating ourselves and taking things that are
00:47:59.000 relatively healthy and making them weaker and, and having social currency for grievance and all
00:48:03.180 trying to grab grievance and weakness. We've got to get strong. If you're not going to be strong,
00:48:07.940 you're not going to have a flourishing country. You're going to be mutilating America. I'm Michael
