In this episode, Alex Blumberg talks about the new White House social media ideal and what it means for our First Amendment rights and freedom of speech. He also talks about how the White House can now dictate who should and should not be on social media platforms and what they should and shouldn't be spreading misinformation. Alex also discusses the latest in the Hunter Biden laptop scandal and how the mainstream media will cover it and what will happen when it's proven to be a big fake news story that just disappeared because it ended up not being a big news story at all. Alex also asks the question: Will the media be able to do their job as a responsible news outlet when it comes to covering the Russia/Trump/Podesta scandal? And what will the media do when it is proven that it was all a hoax? And does it have a chance to be proven right or is it going to continue to be used as a tool to further a political agenda and smear President Trump and his administration? The answer to all of those questions will have a big impact on the future of our free speech rights and our ability to free ourselves from censorship and free speech in the 21st century. We can't have it all, we have to choose our own truth and choose our truth, and we can't choose who we want to spread it and who we don't want to be told it and how they can spread it. It's up to us to decide what we want us to think about it and not what we believe in it and whether or not we should be allowed to have a say in what we're told to believe it and we should or not have a voice in the information we receive. or not. 00:00:00.000Guys, if you're wondering if you're losing your First Amendment right, the basic right to free speech in this country, look no further than last week's press conference with Jen Psaki.
00:00:11.000Listen to it, and I'm going to come back with a lot of commentary.
00:00:15.000In terms of actions, Alex, that we have taken, or we're working to take, I should say, from the federal government, we've increased disinformation research and tracking within the Surgeon General's office.
00:00:26.000We're flagging problematic posts for Facebook that spread disinformation.
00:00:30.000We're working with doctors and medical professionals to connect to connected medical experts who are popular with their audiences with accurate information and boost trusted content.
00:00:42.000So we're helping get trusted content out there.
00:00:44.000We also created the COVID Community Corps to get factual information into the hands of local messengers.
00:00:52.000And we're also investing, as you'll have seen, in the presidents, the vice presidents, and Dr.
00:00:56.000Fauci's time. Okay, so under the new White House's social media ideal, where essentially the White House can dictate who should and should not be thrown off of social media platforms, I have a couple questions for you.
00:01:08.000Will they ban people like Adam Full of Schiff in Congress who pushed for Russia, Russia, Russia collusion?
00:01:16.000Remember, he had seen the evidence with his own eyes.
00:01:18.000He told us that on numerous occasions he'd seen the evidence.
00:01:23.000And it was a lie when the rest of the Democratic caucus in Congress said the same thing on TV repeatedly.
00:01:31.000Will they be thrown off of these social media platforms for spreading misinformation?
00:01:35.000Because It feels like they should be based on what the White House is trying to implement.
00:01:41.000Will Congress, who pushed Russia collusion forever, will Congress and the mainstream media that talked about Russia bounties, remember the Russian bounty story?
00:01:52.000Well, turns out, not exactly accurate, but it was a good way to hurt Donald Trump.
00:01:56.000It was really effective so we can say it.
00:01:58.000And there's gonna be no consequence because the media's gonna carry our message.
00:02:02.000When it gets disproven, they're just gonna pretend like it never happened because they are on the same team.
00:02:07.000Seems like it was a big news story that just disappeared because it ended up being nonsense, right?
00:02:14.000Will the major intelligence officials and agencies who said on TV and verbatim on many platforms that the Hunter Biden laptop from hell was Russian disinformation, right?
00:02:28.000They went there, the media said it, social media blocked anyone from talking about the laptop from hell.
00:02:33.000I have a feeling that if it was Don Jr's laptop from hell, I would not be afforded the same benefit of the doubt.
00:02:42.000So will all of those clowns, you know, whoever it was, the intelligence idiot, whether it's the McCabe types of the world and those guys, the Brennans of the world, the Comeys of the world, those guys spread a lot of misinformation too.
00:02:54.000Some of them actually lied before Congress, and yet they still have social media platforms.
00:03:10.000Meaning, if the narrative is convenient and conducive to furthering your political agenda, we're not going to report you.
00:03:18.000If you're the opposition, now we're reporting you.
00:03:21.000For example, I don't think that they reported Anthony Fauci, Dr.
00:03:25.000Fauci, for spreading misinformation, right?
00:03:28.000Now, if you see his TV interviews and the commentary that he made there, and so many of the opinions that he gave went all over social media, and you read his emails, you realize there is a stark contrast between What he says on TV and what he said in the emails.
00:03:45.000Now, was he lying on TV or was he lying in the emails?
00:03:49.000Was he telling the truth on TV and lying in the emails?
00:03:51.000I don't know which one it is, but they're exact opposites, so it can't be both.
00:03:56.000Will they be reporting him for removal so that we can't spread and continue to spread that kind of misinformation to the general public?
00:04:21.000Yada, yada, yada. We've seen it again.
00:04:23.000She's actually said she's going to dictate to them who's spreading misinformation because that seems to violate so much of the tenet of, no, no, no.
00:04:31.000They're a private company. They can do what they want.
00:04:33.000They can do what they want but take a direct mandate from the federal government?
00:04:47.000Presidential hopeful Michael Avenatti.
00:04:49.000I want to make sure that I'm accurate so I don't get thrown off for misinformation.
00:04:52.000CNN told us this. I think he still has a social media presence.
00:04:55.000Now, it's going to be really hard for him to use it from prison, but, you know, he hasn't been thrown off, and yet a lot of conservatives have.
00:05:03.000So I'm wondering, is this something that's only going to be enforced one way?
00:05:07.000Because that doesn't feel very American.
00:05:09.000That doesn't feel like we have a real First Amendment.
00:05:11.000If a partisan hack in the White House or a partisan administration in the White House can dictate to the social media platforms who or who will not have a platform to speak their mind.
00:05:24.000To exercise their First Amendment rights.
