On today's show, we have special guest and former Florida Governor Rick DeSantis (R-GA). We talk about his campaign, why he's running for president, and why he has a chance to beat Donald Trump in the primary. We also talk about why he should win the primary and what he should do if he becomes the next president of Florida. We also discuss why he might not be as bad as Marco Rubio and why it's a good idea for him to run for president. And of course, we talk about how he's going to deal with the fact that his opponent is a former president and former vice president, George H.W. Bush. We finish up the show with some hot takes from the past week in politics and the future of the Trump administration. 00:00:00.000What did you think about how DeSantis – I mean this is a big topic too, how – I guess DeSantis versus the former president.
00:00:05.000What did you think about what he said?
00:00:07.000Dude, I thought – again, I saw the flip-flop on Ukraine where it was like he tried sort of taking the Trump approach, like maybe he wore bad and then like the donors – Dude, there's a difference.
00:00:16.000So what did he say? He was against it first?
00:00:18.000He was against it. He sort of took a weak Trump stance on it.
00:00:21.000And then he was like, well, we must stop it.
00:00:23.000Putin is an evil dictator. It's like, holy shit, your donors got to you.
00:01:04.000You're talking about the case against Trump.
00:01:06.000I'm talking about the lack of comments on it, right?
00:01:11.000Really? You mean, to me, as a conservative, as a Republican, as someone who's been in those crosshairs, that's probably one of the biggest issues we face as a country.
00:01:21.000You see Matt Taibbi, the guy who's the reporter who broke all the Twitter files about what happened during the election before.
00:01:28.000Yesterday, he testified before the Weaponization of Congress Committee, Jim Jordan and those guys.
00:01:35.000And the day he does that, the IRS goes and raids his home.
00:01:43.000I don't believe in coincidence anymore.
00:01:46.000So if you can't call out Like literally the weaponization of governmental institutions against your citizens.
00:01:56.000Come on, guys. So, DeSantis has, like, big donors.
00:01:59.000Like, the former president's donors, was that all just raised by, like, individuals and stuff?
00:02:03.000Yeah, well, no, you have big donors on all sides, but we did a big, you know, we had probably the greatest small-dollar donor campaign in the history of America, right?
00:02:12.000You know, blue-collar Americans, you know, like, $33 average kind of donation, you know?
00:02:18.000And you can see, you just look up the stats, right?
00:02:19.000The people donating to other sides, you know, this guy's worth $9.12 billion.
00:02:23.000You know what? They want a president when they call It's fucking crazy, man. We're going to be tough on China, but not if it cost me an extra cent in my widget.
00:02:50.000You know what I mean? These sorts of things.
00:03:32.000And so when you see that weaponization and you're not willing to call it out, guess what?
00:03:36.000They'll do it to him. If DeSantis ever becomes the guy or any other Republican ever becomes the guy, it's easy when you're trying to pit someone against Trump because they'll do whatever they can to help you so you can take out Trump.
00:03:47.000When you're the guy, That's a whole different world.
00:03:50.000That's a whole different story. And if that's the way you're going to handle it when they're doing it, you know, generally speaking, how are you going to do when you're in the big show?
00:03:59.000That's crazy. Because he obviously is doing a good job with Florida and the way he handled COVID I liked.
00:04:03.000But it is interesting now when I saw you say that, yeah, he just has a bunch of big donors and he might be sold to them.
00:04:09.000Yeah, you know, when Paul Ryan's going out and endorsing and, you know, Jeff Rowe comes and runs his super pack and Karl Rove is the out there, like...
00:04:16.000Really? You want another Bush administration?
00:04:18.000That's fine. If you want the Bushes, you can have that.
