00:00:00.000 There's never been anything like what's happened here.
00:00:03.000 You can go back to Jimmy Carter with the hostages.
00:00:06.000 We all thought that was a great embarrassment, and we were pulled out of that by Ronald Reagan.
00:00:11.000 This is many, many times worse, and you're dealing with thousands and thousands of Americans and others that are stranded and very dangerously really stranded in Afghanistan.
00:00:24.000 So it's something that you can't even believe that a thing like this could.
00:00:28.000 I looked at that big monster cargo plane yesterday with people grabbing the side and trying to get flown out of Afghanistan because of their fear, their incredible fear.
00:00:40.000 And they're blowing off the plane from 2000 feet up in the air.
00:00:44.000 Nobody's ever seen anything like that.
00:00:46.000 That blows the helicopters in Vietnam away.
00:00:49.000 That's not even a contest.
00:00:50.000 This has been the most humiliating period of time I've ever seen.
00:00:53.000 Yeah, we had a great deal.
00:00:55.000 We worked on it very hard.
00:00:57.000 Mike Pompeo, a brilliant guy, and many others worked on it endlessly.
00:01:02.000 Meetings with the Taliban.
00:01:03.000 Of course, you have to meet with the Taliban.
00:01:05.000 They're the ones that you're negotiating with.
00:01:07.000 I spoke on numerous occasions to the head of the Taliban.
00:01:12.000 And we had a very strong conversation.
00:01:15.000 I told him up front, I said, look, before we start, let me just tell you right now that if anything bad happens to Americans or anybody else or if you ever come over to our land, we will hit you with a force that no country has ever been hit with before.
00:01:31.000 A force so great that you won't even believe it.
00:01:34.000 And you're a village and we know where it is.
00:01:36.000 And I named it. We'll be the first one.
00:01:39.000 Mr. President, I want to interrupt.
00:01:40.000 The first bomb will be dropped right there. You said this to who?
00:01:43.000 Yeah. You said to who?
00:01:47.000 To Mullah Baradar, who is probably the top person.
00:01:52.000 Nobody really knows who the top person is, but I would say that's probably the top person.
00:01:57.000 And it seems to be that's the way it's rolling right now.
00:02:01.000 But I had a very strong conversation.
00:02:03.000 I also had a good conversation with him.
00:02:06.000 We talked for a while after that.
00:02:08.000 That was the primary point I was making.
00:02:10.000 And he understood it.
00:02:12.000 And I asked him, do you understand?
00:02:14.000 He said, yes, I do understand.
00:02:16.000 And I wanted them to get a deal done with The Afghan government.
00:02:22.000 Now, I never had a lot of confidence, frankly, in Ghani.
00:02:24.000 I said that openly and plainly.
00:02:26.000 I thought he was a total crook.
00:02:28.000 I thought he got away with murder.
00:02:30.000 He spent all his time whining and dining our senators.
00:02:34.000 I mean, the senators were In his pocket, that was one of the problems that we had, but I never liked him.
00:02:39.000 And I guess based on his escape with cash, I don't know, maybe that's a true story.
00:02:44.000 I would suspect it is.
00:02:45.000 What you have to do is look at his lifestyle, study his houses where he lives.
00:02:49.000 He got away with murder in many different ways.
00:02:52.000 But I had a very, very strong talk with the Taliban, which I consider to be much more important in this sense, because they were the problem.
00:03:00.000 And they've been there for a long time, and they're good fighters, and they fight hard.
00:03:04.000 And after I said that, we had a pretty good conversation.
00:03:08.000 Now, I have to tell you that if you remember, when they were coming to Washington to meet with me, they decided to kill an American soldier because they thought that was a good way to negotiate.
00:03:18.000 And I canceled the trip.
00:03:20.000 And we had a conditions-based agreement.
00:03:24.000 And if you remember, it said May 1st.
00:03:26.000 We want to get out because we have to get out.
00:03:28.000 I've listened to people on your show and other shows say we should stay.
00:03:32.000 They don't know. We were spending $42 billion a year.
00:03:37.000 $42 billion. Think of it.
00:03:39.000 $42 billion. I understand Russia spends $50 billion a year for their entire military.
00:03:45.000 We're spending $42 billion, not 1%.
00:03:47.000 They were saying 1%.
00:03:49.000 That's a lot of nonsense.
00:03:51.000 We're spending $42 billion a year on defending this for years and years.
00:03:56.000 We've been there really now not 20 years, but 21 and a half years.
00:04:00.000 And we get nothing out of any of these things that we do, whether it's them or many other countries I could tell you about.
00:04:07.000 I'm not going to insult anybody right now.
00:04:09.000 But to spend that kind of money and then to have people get on shows and say how inexpensive it was.
00:04:15.000 And I have to tell you also that We lost no soldiers in the last year and a half because of me and because of the understanding that we had.
00:04:25.000 We lost no... Think of that.
00:04:26.000 In Chicago and in New York and in other cities in the United States, many people die every weekend.
