In this episode of Pastor Webinar we have a special guest, Tom Tripp with Creation Ministries International (CMI) present a presentation on the importance of the book of Genesis and how it is so critical to the evolution creation message.
00:00:00.000thank you everyone for joining with us today on this last pastor webinar of the summer
00:00:06.5202023 we're so glad that you're here with us today we have a wonderful special guest with us tom
00:00:11.880trip with creation ministries international and so we're going to get right into it ask the lord
00:00:16.840to bless our time this this morning or this afternoon for us here on the east coast and then
00:00:22.340we'll just turn tom loose and ask him to just indulge us with this presentation so father thank
00:00:27.320you so much for being with us on this wonderful day thank you for a great summer we look forward
00:00:31.900to lord to what you have in store for us this fall we ask that you will bless and anoint tom as he
00:00:36.560would present to us lord his wealth of knowledge with regards to the book of genesis and how
00:00:42.360important it is for us to realize understand preach and teach lord our origins according to your word
00:00:48.340and we thank you lord that you will one day reveal to us a full understanding of that great moment
00:00:54.320momentous time lord when you simply spoke the word and we all came into creation in existence lord so
00:01:00.400bless tom as he takes his liberty now and we ask this in jesus name amen tom so good to have you with
00:01:06.900us today brother take your liberty god bless you okay here we are talking about the foundations that
00:01:16.940are so critical to the evolution creation message one side of course deals with blind faith and it's rooted
00:01:25.520in false science whereas the other side is real faith that's rooted in god's word and supported by true
00:01:32.300science and so that's where we're going to kind of go today as we move forward with what the creation
00:01:38.200ministries international team is doing and what we're trying to say here is that yeah we've got
00:01:45.060organizations headquarters in seven different countries of the world and you can probably see
00:01:50.700where most of them are except maybe singapore but the most important thing is we have a motto and the
00:01:58.080motto is very foundational in the scripture scripture has to be the basis for all that we do and say and
00:02:05.140proclaim and we have a vision too that jesus is not only our lord and savior but he's our creator he's our
00:02:12.780creator and then of course this is where this whole talk is about this presentation is about how
00:02:18.160and if you'll see some screens with lots of letters or words the yellow words are the most important but
00:02:24.060what i'm trying to say here is that if we cherry if we cherry pick the genesis account it muddies the
00:02:31.200water when it comes to the proclamation of the gospel because if adam and eve weren't real then what's
00:02:37.600jesus death and resurrection all about the gospel message and the genesis account are woven together
00:02:44.080we'll get into that so the website creation.com creation.com is it's been around for over 40 years
00:02:53.860and you can basically look up anything you want there's 15 000 articles hundreds of videos everything
00:03:00.440from climate issues to dinosaurs to the flood and you name it you can look up anything at all
00:03:06.220creation.com but my story my story is basically all about how i came to jesus through faithful sunday
00:03:16.060school teachers who led me to a personal relationship with him and of course i kind of a i'm an introverted
00:03:22.880guy a bit shy at times and so i just followed the path that i could to get a math degree and i went into
00:03:28.580a mining career in northern ontario and i met a miner named bruce and he loved the lord and and what a
00:03:36.480change in his life he was a yec a young earth creationist and he told me tom the earth's only
00:03:41.760about 6 000 years old and i said yeah i love you brother but i don't tell me that i don't understand that
00:03:48.040but then aha one day adam a friend gave me this creation answers book and it helped me to connect the
00:03:56.900dots because at that time i used to believe that well god created things but he worked through
00:04:02.380evolution but that book is one of our resources and it really connects the dots that god did it himself
00:04:07.960and he did it about 6 000 years ago and he did it in six days but over the last few years i've increased
00:04:15.840my education and i became a cmi speaker and at that time i was just turning 65
00:04:22.040and i thought man i'm just as close to 90 as i am to 40 what am i going to do with my life
00:04:28.800and i was reading no accident i was reading in joshua 14 how caleb who was 85 years of age
00:04:35.700was just as strong as he was when he was 40 because he had wholly followed the lord so that's our our
00:04:42.500encouragement to wholly follow the lord by taking his word as it is and embracing it and living it out
00:04:50.100in faith so like i said back in school in the days when things were black and white in southern
00:04:55.480ontario i i would spend part of my time at recess playing some hockey outside and the other times
00:05:01.820i'd go upstairs because i was interested in reading the science portion of the encyclopedia
00:05:05.940because i believe that god worked through evolution so i'm trying to figure it all out
00:05:11.220but you know canada a beautiful country and action for canada is doing a great thing with
00:05:16.700with uh the matters of faith and family and freedom but you know i was born in 52 and i was
00:05:23.940born again in 63 it's important to be born again but then after my first wife had passed away i i moved
00:05:30.600out to bc uh as i the lord was drawing me to to mary bev and uh what happened was then we prayerfully
00:05:38.040moved out here in 2019 to nova scotia and look what's out here in nova scotia garden of eden among
00:05:45.800other things every province is beautiful and we also are part of a home church which has a location
00:05:52.440in west paradise so god is good but this country of ours is going through some difficult times and
00:05:58.560we need to make sure that what we're sharing with others about the gospel is is really grounded in the
00:06:05.140book of genesis so that's what we're going to do as we look into the scriptures as we look at the
00:06:10.560importance of why a young earth creation is is real and of course we're going to look at some
00:06:15.660scientific evidence and just very briefly we'll tiptoe through an opportunity to get equipped
00:06:21.060because it's one thing to get pumped up through a meeting but it's another thing to to actually get
00:06:25.860resources as dan has already mentioned the genesis account and he's going to mention it again
00:06:31.860so here we go climbing the evolution creation ladder which side is more stable because three out of
00:06:40.040every four people who have fallen off a ladder wish they had better instructions and so what about a
00:06:48.860trust fall some of us have been through a trust fall it's kind of scary when you're up on that ladder
00:06:53.820but when you have people down below that you have known for weeks at a time because of
00:06:59.660training sessions that go on together you have faith that they will hold you when you fall
00:07:05.340and we're all going to die one day chris ended up passing away about four years after this due to an
00:07:10.920accident that he was in with a train and his vehicle so we have to be packed and ready to go
00:07:16.600and we want to make sure that we put our trust where the evidence is and the evidence is is so
00:07:21.840tremendous on the creation side of the ladder but there's virtually no evidence on the evolution side
00:07:26.740that it is real so the step ladder basics well when we think of it is that good standing on top
00:07:35.680no and we're going to look at both sides of the ladder soon like what's the most important part
00:07:40.700of a ladder which side do we climb on good ladders tell us which side and what's this business of
00:07:46.300three-point contact all about but most importantly the foundation what is so important about the
00:07:52.640foundation and that's where the psalmist said if the foundations are destroyed what can the righteous
00:07:57.360do and what what are we seeing nowadays in this world oh boy when it comes to foundation just think
00:08:03.580of the chair you're maybe sitting on right now oh where did i come from there's a two-way path here
00:08:10.900is a fork in the road was i evolved am i just rearranged pond scum or was i created because if we choose
00:08:18.600the wrong origin as to who we are and that's what's happening in the world there's been a tsunami of
00:08:24.300evolutionary thinking since about the 1800s and what is happening now is that if you don't know where
00:08:30.860you came from or if you do know let's put it this way if you do know where you came from you got to make
00:08:37.720sure that you're following the right path i'm either made in god's image or oops i'm on the other side
00:08:42.780oh i'm a transhuman i can do whatever i want it's it's up to me and uh there's no accountability i'm
00:08:48.860not going to allow a divine foot in the door it's all about just who i am and and and and i know i
00:08:54.060must have made in god's image and if you keep following the wrong path you're going to get into
00:08:57.960that technology that supports this this transhumanism well maybe i can make myself live to be over a
00:09:04.740thousand years old with enough changes in my body yeah i you know that or am i going to want to do god's
00:09:10.880will and then of course if we're on the wrong side of the ladder we're just looking forward to that one
00:09:15.840world government man oh man that's what it's all about or no there's eternity in heaven so the
00:09:21.120foundations are so critical as to where we are going and that's what we're talking about today
00:09:26.760this foundation which side are we going to choose or sometimes like i said some people want to cling to
00:09:33.080both sides of the ladder but we'll get into that so if our loved ones want to find answers
00:09:39.600especially our youth and they keep getting all these questions back all you can read it for
00:09:46.300yourself there all these questions how do we know how to answer these questions wow well we look for
00:09:53.420some answers because faith is important we can't please god without faith but then again we start
00:09:59.960looking for answers too and so we start searching and uh you know god is not willing that any should
00:10:07.140perish he loved darwin he loved stephen hawking and and you know just you just never know when a
00:10:12.840person dies what's happening in that last few seconds before they die they could be saved we don't
00:10:17.100know god knows but the point is yeah we can look into these answers but we need to be grounded in the
00:10:22.380word of god first that has to be foundational
00:10:24.920why are so many christian youth therefore falling out of church these days if you crunch these numbers
00:10:32.260you average them out three out of every four christian youth are falling away from the lord
00:10:40.460falling away from their churches if they go to school like if three or four years after they leave
00:10:46.860home to go to school they often fall away from church because of this tsunami thinking of evolution
00:10:51.480and i don't want to lose any of my grandkids to that i definitely don't want to lose them
00:10:56.800most of them though most young people say they'll keep on going to church if they get the truth in
00:11:03.740an understandable significant and meaningful way okay so you can actually see here there's this is on
00:11:11.120the creation.com website if people don't get answers from their church away they go if they do get
00:11:19.100answers from their church they tend to stay so this is where all who are pastors here and leaders
00:11:26.000can can really make sure that the gospel message is presented in a way that ties into those first 11
00:11:32.340chapters of genesis here's an example billy graham 1949 here he is around 31 years of age
00:11:40.040uh and he's he's out there at this important event in los angeles he had to make this decision because
00:11:47.560like us there's contradictions apparently in the scripture there's there's things that we don't
00:11:53.440understand and they're not true contradictions but they seem to be and so what happened yeah
00:11:58.740charles templeton oh boy famous evangelist great preacher maybe even better than billy back in those
00:12:05.400days but he went away to school and he got changed in his heart and in his mind as to thinking man
00:12:12.020there is no god everything happened through evolution and he tried to pull billy along that path
00:12:16.860but billy said no i'm going to accept this thy word by faith lord i will believe this to be your
00:12:23.540inspired word oh boy wow so billy took that step of faith and you know that spiritual battle in his
00:12:31.560soul had been fought and won even though he didn't have all the answers but that's where faith comes
00:12:36.140in that's where faith comes in and that peace bridge there is between fort erie and buffalo and i grew
00:12:41.660up of course in fort erie so here we go a little bit more relevance um in this magazine six years ago
00:12:50.180six and a half years ago billy graham's magazine these issues these four issues came up as big lies
00:12:57.200and you know the gender identity issue this is michael brown six years ago and he even put an article
00:13:03.360in the billy graham magazine decision just the latest one that came out so he is still working to reach
00:13:08.640out to the lgbtq plus etc he's still reaching out speaking the truth and love and what he says
00:13:15.420wow it's all about healthy relationships that's the foundations of society healthy relationships
00:13:23.980and there's a of course a lot of demonstrations going on across the country tomorrow to do with a
00:13:29.300lot of this and what did god say foundationally speaking of marriage there's only two genders two
00:13:37.960genders and marriage of course was formulated you shall be one flesh adam and eve marriage was
00:13:43.940formulated before sin entered the world marriage is very holy very holy very important two genders
00:13:51.280two genders and god doesn't lie so when it comes to this if we start fooling around if we start as we
00:13:58.080see in the world today redefining things whether it's marriage or sexual orientation gender identity if we
00:14:04.720start fooling around with this sort of stuff you get all this garbage entering into the world and and
00:14:11.860and really there have been people that have married robots there have been people that have married
00:14:17.080animals and there have been people that have tried to marry the eiffel tower but as far as i know that
00:14:21.660hasn't succeeded yet so crazy crazy the enemy knows his time is short he's trying to deceive a lot of
00:14:26.760people so if we tamper with god's design we're in trouble and of course chesterton a great apologist
00:14:34.720back in the 1800s wow you don't take down a fence unless you know the reason it was put up
00:14:39.660so here we are i never i don't remember hearing the term fake news until donald trump came into uh
00:14:47.040into politics but when you when you see this little diagram down here whoa truth truth truth but then you
00:14:53.580look into it there's lies if there's a bald lie you know it's a lie but if it's mixed with the truth
00:14:58.900what's going on here well all scripture is given by inspiration of god all of it and that word all
00:15:06.280is in every single book of the bible even the one chapter books we know that jesus is the truth and
00:15:13.520jesus is god and he's the living word and we know that he cannot lie he cannot lie so therefore that yes
00:15:21.180john 8 32 the truth sets us free but verse 31 we need to abide in it we need to really delve into
00:15:28.380the word of god especially these first 11 chapters of genesis because they're so foundational to that
00:15:33.160gospel message so here we go here's the ladder and that's one of my favorite chapters of the bible
00:15:40.180first corinthians 15 and we stand on the gospel by which we are being saved and we hold fast to the word
00:15:48.260that's your your three-point contact we need to hold fast to the word we can't hold fast to other
00:15:53.900things and we need to be careful how we move up and down this ladder but what is the gospel
00:15:59.220well also in this same chapter first corinthians 15 the gospel in those first four verses there it is
00:16:08.460it's jesus death burial and resurrection that's the essence of the gospel jesus death burial and resurrection
00:16:15.600but you know what it says in romans 116 the gospel is the power of god unto salvation to everyone who
00:16:24.360believes so in other words if we mess around with those first 11 chapters of genesis the gospel
00:16:31.040message is disrupted because we'll see what the meaning is you know if adam and eve didn't really
00:16:37.600exist then did jesus really have to die well his burial his resurrection what did that mean if adam and
00:16:44.020eve weren't even real if they just evolved we'll get into that but the gospel message if it gets
00:16:50.300messed up then the path to salvation is very difficult you can still be saved if you believe
00:16:55.880that god worked through evolution but if you're a true evolutionist not you but anybody if you're a
00:17:01.200true evolutionist and that means you don't believe in god well obviously you don't be you're not saved
00:17:06.800there unless god can change your heart so how do we get this truth across in a way that's understandable
00:17:12.560significant and meaningful well we're going to look at both sides of this ladder two histories of the
00:17:18.100world and we have to make sure that as we promote this we need to like it says in ephesians speak the
00:17:24.680truth in love okay if you just speak the truth you're butting heads with people if there's no love and if
00:17:31.120you just speak it in love with no truth you're just compromising and also in first peter three
00:17:35.800we need to share what we know with gentleness and respect so here we go it's his story history his
00:17:45.700story makes all the difference in the world so here we go when i'm in a church sharing this talk
00:17:53.180i often say well there's two sides of this congregation you folks are on the bible side
00:17:59.660the youth folks are on the evolutionary side and i had a pastor once in winnipeg who wanted to move
00:18:03.540across to the other side the right side but it was funny so here we go if we think of evolutionary side
00:18:10.760the evolutionary worldview well what is that well this email came to me in 2017 a friend and he just
00:18:21.740believes that there's overwhelming evidence for evolution and at the end here in blue he says well
00:18:27.280it's not the truth that matters but what we perceive to be the truth but you know we've met
00:18:31.860him a couple times more over the last few years and he is starting to ask questions about who jesus is
00:18:37.900and what the bible is all about so that's why we need to pray too we need to pray as we uh share the word
00:18:42.980so anyway just think of a ladder now think of a ladder this is going to be the evolutionary side of the ladder
00:18:49.840that we're climbing so what is the first step the first step is called the big bang the big bang is
00:18:57.880the first step on the evolutionary side of the ladder and you can see there's a lot of stuff going
00:19:02.860on here that's in a different order than what god created things in and you look at the time it's
00:19:09.220something like 13.7 or roughly 15 billion years but it used to be a whole lot less than that but
00:19:15.840they're finding more and more evidence that they need more and more time they almost need an infinite
00:19:19.920amount of time and they don't know for sure if there's such a thing as dark energy or dark matter
00:19:24.480but they use that as fudge factors but anyway that's the first step the big bang and that's what
00:19:29.900the enemy tries to do he tries to deceive people uh you know it says in the bible many times god stretched
00:19:36.100out the heavens so the enemy tries to counterfeit oh big bang yeah right and then as you move up the
00:19:42.100ladder on the evolutionary side everything after the big bang everything coalesces and gradually cools
00:19:48.600down with the hotter part in the center where the sun or the stars are and the planets go around
00:19:53.320and then over time liquid water comes into place and then when you think of it this geological aspect
00:20:02.160there's all of these billions of years ago all of these simple organisms that over time
00:20:09.040they gradually evolve and slowly get buried and the more complex organisms are near the surface
00:20:15.700interesting interesting and that's the way it is but how do you interpret it that's the question
00:20:21.320so then you move up the ladder a little further and you get into some chemical evolution where you've
00:20:27.440got some primordial soup shall we say it's all inorganic and then all of a sudden something alive
00:20:34.540something organic came into being and through natural selection and mutations you get into this
00:20:40.060biological evolution and there's different avenues of life and that's that's moving up this ladder on
00:20:46.600the evolutionary side and then of course higher up you get this human evolution and and i know dan has
00:20:54.300long hair no he doesn't look like that guy in the right there no no but anyway we know sorry that
00:21:00.920we know that we we we didn't evolve from apes but people think that if they have that mindset that
00:21:07.820worldview so we're getting up near the top of the ladder here on the evolutionary side and if you get to
00:21:13.440the top of the ladder what is that heat death oh what is heat death well there it is no sound
00:21:24.480no temperature no heat no motion no life everything just gradually has faded away there's no hope in
00:21:33.800that no hope at all in that side of the ladder so there you are roughly 13.7 roughly 15 billion years
00:21:42.400all of this has supposedly happened but now think of the other side of the ladder you think of gene
00:21:49.660cernan he had a creationist worldview he was the last astronaut to have walked on the moon apollo 17
00:21:55.320and within three days of that other email that i got from my friend on the on the evolution side of
00:22:03.900the ladder gene cernan passed away but you know what he said and i don't know if he was a believer but
00:22:08.580he knew that by walking on the moon there was something happening here that that he didn't understand
00:22:14.400but it was somebody bigger than him that did all of this it didn't just happen by chance
00:22:18.380somebody bigger and bigger had to be a creator and so that's a creationist worldview
00:22:23.440so as we move up that side of the ladder what's the first step the first verse of the bible
00:22:29.760in the beginning god created the heavens and the earth wow what a glorious time that was and yes
00:22:38.160there's a new heaven and a new earth coming but we'll move up the ladder to show that but right now
00:22:41.920that's the first step god did it all the father planned it the son actually carried it out and the
00:22:47.920holy spirit energized it so here you go the next step soon after that is the fall and my last name
00:22:57.080is trip so i know all about the fall but anyway and like dan said the fall is coming in a couple more
00:23:02.620days or later this week the autumn sorry anyway the fall probably happened very soon after creation
00:23:10.580because adam and eve had perfect bodies and they were told to you know uh have i'm paraphrasing but
00:23:18.660have children expand populate the earth and and they didn't so what happened was was the enemy of course
00:23:25.440came in as a talking serpent and eve was looking at the fruit of the knowledge of the tree of the
00:23:32.000knowledge of good and evil and he said to her in genesis 3 1 did god really say and that's what
00:23:40.120the enemy is doing then that's what he's doing now did god really say he's trying to pull the rug out
00:23:46.120from the bible and so eve of course heard from the devil well actually she repeated to him what what she
00:23:53.700thought god said but she said pretty well what god said but she said that oh i can't even touch this
00:23:59.800tree well no god didn't say you can't touch it but that's the problem if we don't know god's word as
00:24:05.120well as we should we can sort of drift a bit and she was deceived she ate the fruit and then adam
00:24:11.600deliberately ate the fruit and of course they had to be booted out because they weren't allowed to eat
00:24:16.340the from the tree of life or they would have lived forever in this state this sinful state
00:24:20.500but the point is here in genesis 3 15 what happened was god was reprimanding adam and eve and the devil
00:24:29.380and he said and i'm paraphrasing in genesis 3 15 there's a redeemer coming through a woman a redeemer
00:24:38.680is coming through a woman which is very strange through a woman what and the devil didn't know what
00:24:43.940line that was going to be he didn't know what ancestral line that would be so over time he tried to
00:24:49.640disrupt the whole world as we move up this ladder on the creation side and finally the whole world
00:24:54.660was basically full of evil except for noah and his wife and their three kids and their wives
00:25:00.260judgment judgment because god is holy and therefore and the wages of sin is death and so and god did not
00:25:09.040want or a lot he didn't allow satan to disrupt the whole of humanity because jesus came through the line
00:25:14.600of of shem one of noah's children and so this was kept going and of course not too long after that
00:25:23.080after the flood ended as you move up the ladder the tower of babel oh wow what's that all about well
00:25:30.020did god really say god said there would no more ever be a global flood right but a lot of people as
00:25:38.460they deviated from following the lord all these descendants of adam or of noah and shem and japheth
00:25:45.160and ham they they a lot of them walk their own way and they they they they also believe did god
00:25:50.540really say there would never be a global flood no there's going to be another global flood we better
00:25:53.980build this big tower so that we can survive this next global flood and and yeah we're going to be
00:25:58.800more like god just like the devil said in the garden of eden we're going to be more like god when we do
00:26:03.100this ah centuries later charlton heston or maybe moses yes moses was given the ten commandments how
00:26:13.300come because the fall of man was real we need boundaries we need boundaries we need boundaries
00:26:21.880if we don't have boundaries we're in trouble so then moving up the ladder further came this virgin
00:26:27.240conception yeah the birth of jesus was was marvelous was real but the conception was the real
00:26:33.080miracle the holy spirit came upon mary and because of that jesus was born without a sin nature
00:26:40.540he then could become the perfect lamb of god who was able to he who knew no sin became sin for us
00:26:50.660wow each of us whether it's a thought a word or a deed any of our sins over the you do the math we've
00:26:59.760probably committed a million sins in 70 years you know when you think of thoughts words and deeds
00:27:04.320and i like numbers and i'm 71 now so each of those sins is worth a death penalty and jesus who knew no
00:27:11.000sin became sin for us it wasn't the nails that held him to the cross it was love it was love that held
00:27:16.000him to the cross and then of course three days later the empty tomb was proof that he had victory we have
00:27:24.020victory over sin and death in the grave because of what jesus did second last step on this side of
00:27:29.840the ladder here we are in the church age church isn't a denomination or a building it's it's people
00:27:36.740people who have that saving relationship with christ the church and it's up to us to get that gospel
00:27:43.160message out there especially in these dark times but then the top of the ladder restoration
00:27:49.480revelation 21 4 there's going to be a new heaven a new earth and we're going to come to a place where
00:27:57.440we have a new body we're going to come to a place where there's no more sin or no more sorrow death
00:28:03.080pain suffering tears oh what a what a what a source of hope that is you know we can we can go for weeks
00:28:10.500without food we can go for days without water we can go for minutes without oxygen but you cannot go
00:28:16.880without hope and if you're on the one side of the ladder there's heat death oh the other side of
00:28:22.080the well you think well that's okay because there's no heaven and hell i'll just do the best i can on this
00:28:26.480side of this this part of my life and so be it that's the way they think but on the biblical side
00:28:33.240there is an eternity we're either going to be in heaven and hell and so we need to make sure that
00:28:37.160we're on the right side so here we go biblical history what's left out ah the cross and that's
00:28:47.400the most important part in many ways of a ladder if we don't hook that together properly kaboom down
00:28:53.080we go we come crashing down but what's this 6 000 years where's that come about where okay
00:29:02.040okay well when you think of it if you look in genesis 5 and a little bit in genesis 7 but also
00:29:09.540genesis 11 you'll actually see you know adam was like 130 when seth was born seth was like
00:29:16.580i forget is it 105 or is it 90 when his son was born it's it's like you can do all the way with
00:29:22.220you like my grandpa was 25 when dad was born dad was 28 when i was born i was 25 when my son was born
00:29:29.280my son was 32 when his son was born you add up all those years it's 110 years but if you actually
00:29:36.520figure it out based on when they were born it was 112 years that's because you don't know if you're
00:29:41.620just one day past your birthday if you're almost at your next birthday so you lose you add on about
00:29:46.560half a year for every generation so if you figure it all out from adam to uh to abraham you look at all of
00:29:56.580these genealogical unbroken chains you look at all those years from adam to abraham it's about 2 000
00:30:03.240years and then from abraham of course to jesus even secular people know that's another 2 000 years
00:30:09.540roughly and then from jesus to us is another 2 000 years roughly so the world the universe is roughly
00:30:16.1606 000 years old according to the scriptures in genesis so what do we got here they both can't be true
00:30:24.900hmm is it a matter of science versus faith hmm well what is this then which proves that
00:30:35.400this evolutionary trail really happened does science prove it or does history show it
00:30:41.400well science is something that's observable test repeatable and testable observable repeatable and
00:30:49.920testable you you can't unless you have a time machine you can't go back and show that we came
00:30:55.720from apes you cannot show that whereas history history shows that
00:31:02.680basically the world view whatever you want to believe based on stories from the past
00:31:10.660well then you can believe that if you want that we came from apes but science does not show that
00:31:15.900because it's not observable repeatable or testable so so it looks like it's a matter of history that
00:31:21.140you have to hang on to science observable repeatable testable yeah the boiling point the freezing point
00:31:27.600of water it's provable every time you do it you can even go up on a mountain but there's just a little
00:31:31.740different formula but it's observable repeatable testable everything is that's true science that's true
00:31:37.420science whereas history not saying history is wrong but you got to be careful what you believe
00:31:42.900how do we know that both of these guys were born on the same day darwin and lincoln
00:31:46.980hmm well maybe they didn't even exist at all and a lot of people are trying to change the history of
00:31:54.460this world but this is a matter of faith it's a matter of faith in the historical records that were
00:32:00.860compiled by these eyewitnesses so really when you look at it are we 15 billion years old roughly or
00:32:07.5806 000 years they both can't be true but it is a matter of faith versus faith just like in the trust
00:32:14.820fall which way are you going to fall here which way are you going to fall by faith so here you go
00:32:20.860worldview there's evidence out there there's evidence out there but it depends on your interpretation of
00:32:29.000that evidence which way are you going to go evolution or creation well let's just look at this then
00:32:35.580what can evolve in 15 billion years roughly and how long is a biblical day so like we said earlier
00:32:44.500when people ask why do you believe what you believe you need to do so share that hope within you with
00:32:50.240gentleness and respect first peter 3 15 so we need to have some of these answers so first of all how do
00:32:56.960we measure time one way is to use an hourglass and there aren't too many of them around out there
00:33:02.260anymore i guess but it just as you know the sand trickles through at a certain rate of speed and
00:33:07.000it's a way of keeping track of time so what can happen randomly speaking in 15 billion years well
00:33:16.860according to james coppage in his book evolution possible or impossible the average protein molecule
00:33:24.220if it's just um if you just have some primordial soup so to speak if you have all the elements that
00:33:31.540you need all mixed up in some water and and and a liquid and and you have the primary conditions even
00:33:37.960on a random basis it'll take one with 171 zeros after it that's how many years just for one protein
00:33:44.780molecule to form randomly so how long is that wow well if you take the whole universe and crunch it all
00:33:53.020down to individual atoms and put it into a giant hourglass which is the same size basically as
00:33:59.040the universe in length 30 billion light years you've got that giant hourglass filled with all the
00:34:04.720individual atoms of the universe and each each atom can only fall at the rate of half an inch every 15
00:34:13.920billion years each one and yet you have to get them all through because what we're saying here is
00:34:20.500you'd have to shake this hourglass tip it back and forth 600 000 trillion trillion trillion trillion
00:34:29.300times for that length of time 10 to the 171st years to pass that's incredible just for one protein
00:34:36.340molecule and one protein molecule can't exist by itself you need to have the rna the dna the
00:34:42.660the amino acids you need to have everything the reproductive organs everything has to be together
00:34:48.240for life to go on you can't just have one protein molecule out there so in other words 15 billion
00:34:55.500that's just 15 with nine zeros that's nothing nothing at all can evolve in 15 billion years
00:35:01.160absolutely nothing but wow how do we answer this one how long is a biblical day
00:35:07.960well and this isn't any of you who are pastors you're not going to be crossing out this verse in
00:35:14.780genesis 1 5 oh it can't be a regular day blah blah blah millions of years is true
00:35:20.200well you know what the hebrew scholars say evening and morning when you see evening and morning were the
00:35:27.800first day evening and morning were the second day and so on and so on evening and morning give you a
00:35:35.660context and the word yom for day when that's all together the context tells us that it's like a
00:35:42.600it's a solar day a 24 hour solar day because when you're talking about evening and morning you're
00:35:48.240talking about a rotating earth a rotating earth evening and morning first day it's a rotating earth
00:35:54.800so what happened on the first day let there be light and that's the aspect to let there be light
00:36:00.800so day and darkness uh they tell us that it's a 24 hour solar day that he started right away on day
00:36:08.600one and any old tom dick and harry can determine the length of a day based upon the given context
00:36:13.940because that's me with my uncle dick and my uncle harry back 22 years ago and so it it is true that
00:36:20.800the context is important back in my uncle's time he would take six 24 hour days to prepare his fields
00:36:30.800for planting yet he would work only during the daylight hours so it's all about context all about context
00:36:37.880and this really nails it when you realize when when moses got the 10 commandments god said to him
00:36:45.260six days is your work week you know because in six days i the lord made heaven and earth so six days
00:36:54.540you know we know what a day is as the earth rotates we know what a month is basically as the moon goes
00:37:00.920around us we know what a year is as the earth goes around the sun but where does a week come from
00:37:05.600this is a week six days plus a day of rest that's what a week comes from right from god because that
00:37:11.720was his plan his pattern and that's what he did and that's what our work week is
00:37:15.580so why do people keep hanging on to these long ages well they want science to lord it over scripture
00:37:25.420they want science to lord it over scripture and that's what that means and that comes out of the
00:37:32.020genesis account and that's a good book that dan has and i have and many pastors can really use that
00:37:37.340book the genesis account but anyway here's an example and i'm not saying this guy's in hell i mean
00:37:42.960he he seemed to believe in evolution very strongly and we i'm not trying to judge him god's not willing
00:37:48.280that any should perish but charles lyle yeah he's a good author but he had a hidden agenda he wanted to
00:37:56.180free the science from moses he wanted science to lord it over scripture and so he as a friend of
00:38:03.060darwin convinced darwin that oh i got more time than i thought yeah we can we can figure out a theory of
00:38:11.060evolution here because some of us have been to niagara falls i'm sure and i've been there of course because
00:38:17.380i was born right there in bed next to my mother in fort erie and so in 1872 this carving was in a
00:38:25.880depiction of how lyle thought well if i can figure out based on the length of the niagara gorge and
00:38:34.900based upon how much the falls actually move back each year because of the erosion how long would it
00:38:45.420take for this gorge to get carved out well the settlers told him local settlers told him about
00:38:51.940roughly three feet a year and that wasn't true but he he fudged the data anyways he changed it down
00:38:58.740to one foot a year and therefore that changed darwin's view from maybe 10 000 years to 35 000 years and of
00:39:06.220course scientists now secular scientists are keeping making it look longer and longer and longer
00:39:10.580because they just can't get anything happening at random so the 35 000 looks good but the point i'm
00:39:17.520trying to make here is this seduced it seduced many christians to doubt the reliability of the genesis
00:39:24.020chronology wow wow slippery slope and you know if you go to creation.com or hear my flood talk you can
00:39:33.060see that the falls is probably only about 3 800 years old and the flood of course occurred about
00:39:38.1801650 years after creation so 3 800 years basically the flood uh the post ice age issues caused uh
00:39:48.180saint lawrence seaway to get carved out anyway the point is science true science that's observable
00:39:55.060repeatable and testable true science supports scripture fake science it's just all based on world view
00:40:01.860so anyway let's change lanes here a little bit and look at some scientific evidence you can see here
00:40:08.520especially out in the maritimes if you see a fossilized lobster looking the same as a live lobster
00:40:16.080hmm that that's not evolution same thing with a dragonfly how could that be well either evolution isn't real
00:40:25.880or maybe it's like this this particular fish was fossilized in the act of eating another fish well how
00:40:33.800could that happen if there's slow sedimentation where everything normally would just decompose or rot or
00:40:40.680or get eaten by somebody else no this is a rapid burial noah's flood and same with the ixiosaurus
00:40:48.520in the act of giving birth fossilized once again rapid burial rapid burial due to the flood
00:40:54.500and then these polystrate fossils you can see this old diagram from france there are trees that are
00:41:03.140still upright and yet apparently slowly buried over millions of sedimentation millions of years of
00:41:10.480sedimentation how could they still be upright like that they would decompose they would rot they would
00:41:15.720get eaten or they get burnt or they'd fall over hmm and that's what i saw right here in nova scotia
00:41:21.640at the joggins fossil cliff and yet you go into the museum there and they really worship evolution
00:41:26.760also soft tissue and apparently 70 million year old tyrannosaurus rex bones how can this
00:41:37.400material be resilient and and flexible and and it's still stretchy and they've even discovered dna
00:41:44.600and dna is very um brief in its lifespan it can't be more than thousands of years old so that this has
00:41:51.960been discovered many times so once again lots of evidence that uh dinosaurs weren't extinct 65 million
00:41:59.400years ago they lived up until recently more evidence i don't know if anybody was out in washington when that
00:42:08.360happened this great eruption of mount saint helens and uh many false ideas about geology were blown
00:42:15.880away because of what basically god was showing through this this action and you can see here briefly
00:42:22.360there was an eruption in in may of 1980 and we'll just look briefly at what happened about a month later
00:42:28.280this pyroclastic flow and about two years almost two years later something else happened in the north fork of the
00:42:35.320toodle river so we'll just tiptoe through this this pyroclastic flow about a month after the eruption
00:42:43.960how can you get about 25 feet or eight meters of sedimentation with all this fast moving stuff going down
00:42:51.240the valley and it all happened in three hours three hours three it didn't take millions of years to
00:42:59.320sedimentize this three hours it was observable repeatable testable scientists have shown that
00:43:06.120this happens it's not just some little tiny lamini that each take a hundred years
00:43:12.360or hundreds of years no it's something that can be shown through computer simulations or actual flows of
00:43:19.960fast moving water that this sedimentation occurs very quickly but then like i said almost two years after
00:43:27.160the eruption there was this major snow melt mud dam was burst up top and all of this stuff came roaring
00:43:34.120down the north fork of the toodle river and look at this the little grand canyon was cut out in a single
00:43:41.560day it was observable a single day it took to cut this out a single day and you know it's a 40th
00:43:52.120the size of the grand canyon in arizona so if this can happen in a single day it was very easily
00:43:59.000believable that the grand canyon itself could have been carved out during noah's flood which lasted
00:44:04.520roughly a year right on right on so here you go as we get around third base here about 10 years ago my
00:44:15.640wife bev and i were down at the grand canyon visiting and we saw a couple interesting things
00:44:21.400at lookout point and hermit's rest and some of you maybe have been down there or over there depending
00:44:26.680where you live but the park rangers would go around with clipboards saying yeah this particular area is
00:44:33.880300 million years old and this area over here is like 500 million years old but then you look at these
00:44:38.440these these plaques that talk about the lord being behind especially this plaque oh lord how manifold
00:44:46.760are thy works in wisdom hast thou made them all the earth is full of thy riches and there's a little
00:44:51.960praise item here about him being the creator so that you get this world view conflict it's it's it's
00:44:58.360like did god really say that's what the devil's trying to do is to deceive people and so you've got this
00:45:03.880conflict going on and so wow the grand canyon was carved out by the finger of god through the flood
00:45:11.080so to speak but there you go two world views which one do we have there's this tug of war the evidence
00:45:20.920is the same but the interpretation is different so you start digging you find these fossils the deeper
00:45:29.240you go normally you'll find the simple fossils the higher up or the more complex ones well
00:45:35.400evolutionary world view says the deeper we go the farther back in time we go because things evolve
00:45:41.640and get buried and on that goes but biblical creationism said hey low Noah's flood deposited
00:45:49.000trillions of fossils within a year because these little trilobites and other fossils down here
00:45:53.240they actually have marine fossils that they have found on mount everest marine fossils got swept
00:45:59.480away very easily they wouldn't have been buried uh everywhere well they some of them got buried deeply
00:46:05.480but others got swept away and now they're on mountaintops but the more complex creatures
00:46:10.600like if you and i weren't on the ark we would be going to higher ground all we could we get higher
00:46:15.480higher higher higher so we're not likely to get buried as deeply and and i trust that i know that all
00:46:20.760of us would have been on the flood if if we were there so there you go so here we come to the crunch
00:46:26.520this connection between the gospel and genesis god said everything was good day one day three day
00:46:34.360three day four day five day six and also very good so which came first fossils or god's declaration that
00:46:43.800his creation was very good which came first well why would he say that everything was very good
00:46:52.200if all of this stuff death and fossils were in the ground before the garden of eden before man evolved
00:47:00.200in other words everything's lovey-dovey up top but how could all this be underground and god to say oh
00:47:07.560everything is good everything's very good because death is the enemy death is is what what jesus died
00:47:13.400for to overcome death so anyway this dinosaur was discovered by sue hendrickson and faith uh i forget
00:47:21.640which is it south dakota i'm not sure but faith interesting place to find this uh dinosaur 90 of
00:47:27.720its bones were put together there uh because they were discovered and it had speaking of suffering and
00:47:32.840death and disease it had a broken leg broken ribs arthritis uh holes in the skull infections uh another
00:47:41.800tooth embedded in a rib and gout and great pain so death and suffering and disease are all associated
00:47:48.840with fossils so what happens then if we think that that death was already there before adam and eve
00:47:56.120entered the world and before sin entered the world if death came first
00:47:59.800hmm if death came before sin what's going on here god's word must not be true if death came before sin
00:48:13.240oh boy i thought death came because adam sinned but oh no if you believe in evolution oh no
00:48:20.200so therefore you got to think of it this way with the same certainty that adam and jesus existed
00:48:27.640right because they are related through luke three genealogically they're connected with the same
00:48:33.480certainty that jesus walked the earth so too did adam and a lot of people think adam wasn't real but
00:48:39.720they're connected genealogically and so look at this if we think that creation never did happen six
00:48:49.640thousand years ago that's our foundation if we don't know where we came from
00:48:54.840if adam and eve were just a myth just a story just a legend then the fall same thing just a story just
00:49:02.520a legend and why there wouldn't have been a global flood just a bunch of local floods
00:49:07.800and of course the tower of babel didn't really mean much then it's just another little thing
00:49:12.680and then why what what good is the law if we're not born as sinners we don't need any boundaries i mean
00:49:19.320if dan and i are just rearranged pond scum then we can do whatever we want in this world and god
00:49:25.320no there is no god so we can get away with stuff sorry dan but then why would jesus have come into the
00:49:32.200world hmm why would jesus have come into the world if if if death is normal well okay so jesus died on the cross because he made himself out to be god and that was
00:49:45.320blasphemous and therefore he walked the earth yeah he died okay but that didn't mean anything
00:49:51.640therefore the resurrection is just a hoax and the church is just an old boys club and and ladies club
00:49:59.640and the restoration is just a pipe dream and holy cow if we don't believe that god did what he did
00:50:06.440roughly six thousand years ago and that adam and eve were real and that jesus died for our sins
00:50:11.560wow biblical history bunch of garbage so dan mentioned before the meeting that henry morris was a good
00:50:19.880writer too and what he said you can see it here if you cherry pick the scriptures this would mean that
00:50:25.400there is no reality in the saving work of christ and destroying or distorting the plain genesis record
00:50:35.320undermines and eventually destroys the gospel of salvation jesus death burial resurrection that's
00:50:42.920the gospel and if that was fake if it was phony if it wasn't real then that whole way of being saved it's a
00:50:51.480muddy path it's a it's a it's a blind path it's a difficult path you can still believe that god worked through
00:50:57.800revolution but it really makes a mess of things you can still be saved but it's a whole lot better just to
00:51:03.000believe what the bible says outright that god did it all about six thousand years ago everything was
00:51:08.120good and after sin entered the world then came death so in summary genesis is real history because
00:51:16.600it's his story and the flood explains so much through the fossils that it cancels out modern science's
00:51:24.440interpretation of history modern science so often is based on faith and history it's not
00:51:29.400true science and then of course if we make sure that we place sin and death at the right place
00:51:35.960soon after creation due to man's fall it gives purpose to the cross and then of course like i said
00:51:43.000you can still believe that god worked through evolution but is that going to bring you any
00:51:47.400comfort and peace because he is is he just messing around as a as a as a doctor who's experimenting with
00:51:53.480things and and just doing things at random no uh especially when his word is is not being followed
00:51:59.880no it's it's a very difficult thing to believe that god worked through evolution
00:52:05.560so what did jesus say in john five if you believe moses you would believe me for he wrote of me but if
00:52:13.240you do not believe moses writings how will you believe my words but what what's special about moses
00:52:18.360writings he was the one who penned genesis the five books of the bible the pentateuch he wrote them all
00:52:25.560and and a lot of that you can look at it scientifically um and through the scriptures of course but
00:52:31.640what adam had written down would have been passed on through the generations through to noah through
00:52:37.960to shem his son and on then because shem actually was still alive when isaac came into the world
00:52:43.480so isaac could have received what what adam had originally written all this gets passed on down
00:52:50.200through isaac and eventually it goes to joseph and when joseph was taken out of egypt his bones were
00:52:55.400taken out all that stuff would have been taken and moses would have had this and so it makes a lot
00:53:00.520of sense makes a lot of sense it's it's not that many generations so which side of the ladder we clinging
00:53:06.200into well you're either going to have no hope or real hope no hope or real hope and if you happen
00:53:13.880to be doing what i used to do it's a mixed up hope and you know hope springs eternal hope is what we
00:53:19.960need and we need the biblical hope we can't we can't fool around with true hope it's a confident
00:53:24.920expectation so we've looked at these well three of these lanes the business of equipping equipping and i
00:53:32.920won't spend long here but we can go to creation.com and look at all kinds nine different seasons of
00:53:37.720creation magazine live all kinds of things half hour episodes and there's all kinds of streaming
00:53:43.880videos that are available now on creation.com and if if you want someone to come to your church there's
00:53:52.120an events portion here and i'm going to manitoba in in october and i was in alberta last month so it's
00:53:59.560good to have the word of god preached in a way that shows the gospel is tied into the book of
00:54:05.800genesis so here we go the bible is our authority jesus is our lord savior and creator and like i said
00:54:14.760we have to take the whole bible all of scripture is inspired of god and that shows us that adam and
00:54:21.080eve were real and therefore jesus death was real and therefore he's coming again to take up his church
00:54:27.560and we need to be able to get that gospel message out there as we share the truth in love
00:54:32.280with gentleness and respect we need to do it with gentleness and respect always being prepared to make
00:54:37.240a defense to anyone who asks us for a hope reason for the hope that's in us gentleness and respect as
00:54:42.680we honor christ the lord is holy so final slide and this is a beautiful song and it's a beautiful verse
00:54:50.440we can almost say it as a closing prayer thou art worthy oh lord to receive glory and honor and power
00:54:57.800for thou has created all things and for thy pleasure they are and were created so lord we thank you that
00:55:05.960we have been created in your image all for your pleasure and we give you the glory and the honor and
00:55:12.840we just want to be strengthened by your holy spirit to speak the truth in love and to get the gospel
00:55:20.200message out there in a way with gentleness and respect so that you would continue to build your church
00:55:26.360in jesus name amen amen amen wow nobody fell asleep nobody no no
00:55:37.240thank you so much tom i really appreciate that and um i could tell you've done this presentation
00:55:46.360before i just want to read uh before we go to any questions here i just want to read something uh
00:55:52.520very powerful in romans chapter one god's word tells us uh speaking of our generation well speaking of
00:56:01.560people they know the truth about god because he made it obvious to them for ever since the world was
00:56:06.680created people have seen the earth and sky through everything god made they can clearly see his
00:56:12.920invisible qualities his eternal power and his divine nature so they have no excuse for not knowing god
00:56:21.240and then it goes on yes they knew god but they wouldn't worship him as god or even give him thanks
00:56:25.400and they began to think of foolish ideas of what god was like and as a result their minds became dark and
00:56:31.000confused claiming to be wise they instead became utter fools and instead of worshiping the glorious
00:56:36.600ever-living god they worship idols made to look like mere people and birds and animals and reptiles
00:56:42.840so god abandoned them to do whatever shameful things their hearts desired as a result they did vile and
00:56:49.720degrading things with each other's bodies they traded the truth about god for a lie so they worshiped and
00:56:55.640served the things god created instead of the creator himself who is worthy of eternal praise amen that is why god
00:57:03.160abandoned them to their shameful desires even the women turned against the natural way they have sex
00:57:08.680and instead indulged in sex with each other and the man instead of having normal sexual relations with
00:57:13.720women burned with lust for each other men did shameful things with other men and as a result of their sin
00:57:20.200they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved since they thought it foolish to acknowledge god
00:57:26.200he abandoned them to their foolish thinking and let them to do things that they should never be done
00:57:32.440so those who have abandoned the proper understanding of god's creation of our world
00:57:41.160god then leaves them to abandon their minds to the foolish thinking of this world which leads to sexual
00:57:46.760perversion and if you look to see where our world is today you see the natural down cost that downfall of where we are
00:57:53.480so thank you tom for sharing that with us so if anyone has any questions if you want to put your
00:57:59.560hand up and um i'm sure tom has a lot of answers but if you don't have any questions
