Summary

In this episode, I sit down with my good friend, Alicia, to talk about her journey of coming out as transgender and fighting for the LGBTQ+ community. Alicia and I talk about what it was like growing up in public school and how she came out as a transgender activist. We also talk about how important it was for her to speak out about transgender issues in public schools.

00:00:00.000 I remember those mid rallies, let's say like maybe a good year in that you started speaking about, you know, the transgenderism agenda and all of that.
00:00:08.660 And I remember Alicia and I were like, can we just stick to masks and COVID? Can we just talk about the vaccines?
00:00:15.240 Like we're kind of territory, like not right. People were asking us, like, why did you start transitioning from, you know, talking about COVID and the masks and then going into people thought that I was, you know, anti-gay.
00:00:27.820 And, you know, we've had gay friends or we've had friends that have had gay children.
00:00:31.800 And it's like all of a sudden I was like a bigot and I and it was like, no, I'm protecting them, too.
00:00:37.000 Like you have to understand, like when there's one in four kids that identifies as something other than what they're born as, we have an issue because that wasn't an issue when we were in high school or even in elementary school.
00:00:47.220 And now, you know, kids think they're cats and dogs and whatever else.
00:00:51.000 So it's just I remember you saying, like, you know, kids are being taught in kindergarten that they can be an animal or a thing or whatever they want to be.
00:00:59.640 And it's just like, you know, you didn't see it so much in the beginning.
00:01:02.040 But then as soon as you started shedding light on it, it became very prevalent that this is a serious issue.
00:01:08.000 And and I think, you know, there might be a little bit of a shift.
00:01:12.400 My husband and I were both saying that the there's been some construction just down the street from us here and they've redone the sidewalks and they didn't repaint the rainbow sidewalk.
00:01:26.700 And so my husband was talking to his friend at work about that the other day and they said they did the same thing in mission.
00:01:31.280 So I don't know if there's enough people complaining out there, but, you know, I should be complaining.
00:01:39.120 And, you know, I know there's been times where somebody has gone to go and complain about the rainbow flag being up at some of the local municipalities.
00:01:48.180 And one single complaint has brought that flag down.
00:01:52.320 So absolutely.
00:01:53.400 I'm really excited that you're saying that because I got to give a shout out to Christina as our chapter leader in mission.
00:02:00.380 And I'm telling you, she is their worst nightmare as far as the corrupt and yeah, the school board and the trustees there are are just really radical as far as I'm concerned.
00:02:14.500 But the mayor and city council have been receptive to her and respectful to her.
00:02:18.880 And I think that she's finally been heard and our team out there.
