DRIPA is a bill that would force British Columbia's First Nations to return all their land back to the Crown. It would also give them veto power over everything, and indefinite funding to fund whatever they want to do on those lands.
00:00:08.920And what bothers me about this is that, OK, if that's really what British Columbians want and we believe that that's what the road ahead means for us, I think that we need full notice if that's what we're doing.
00:00:20.400And also a referendum to ask British Columbians, do you want this?
00:00:24.520And there's been a lot of focus lately on the fee simple titles that have been affected by the famous Cowichan ruling, the one where in Richmond, where they gave joint decision making.
00:00:35.600They've basically said that Aboriginal titers supersedes the fee simple properties in Richmond, which are commercial properties in people's homes.
00:00:43.260And so this has been a disaster for the E.B. government because this has exposed the whole the whole thing.
00:00:48.880That that case is exactly what they wanted to have happen, but they're trying to pretend that it's not.
00:00:59.140And this is precisely what DRIPA stands for is all land back, veto power over everything and indefinite funding to fund whatever they want to do on those lands.
