Summary

In today's pour, I talk about the freedom we have in faith and how God is fighting our battles for us and the freedom that comes with our faith in Him. God is still in control of our rights and our charters of rights and freedoms, but as long as we have faith in God, we will always be free.

00:00:00.000 Hi, my name is Chesney, and today I'm going to be talking about the freedom we have in faith.
00:00:08.600 Jesus said in Matthew 21, verses 21 through 22,
00:00:13.460 Assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith and do not doubt, you will not only do what was done to the fig tree,
00:00:19.820 but also you could say to this mountain, be removed and cast into the sea, and it will be done.
00:00:26.220 And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.
00:00:30.860 This is a verse we see a lot, the faith can move mountains.
00:00:34.240 But it seems that these days we get so caught up in the mountains and how large they look,
00:00:39.260 that we forget who is fighting our battles for us and the freedom that comes with our faith in God.
00:00:45.480 A mountain I get caught up in way too regularly is how much control our government is trying to have over us.
00:00:52.380 Just by looking at some of our charters of rights and freedoms, we can see that they're being broken.
00:00:59.600 We were given the freedom of thought, belief, opinion, and expression,
00:01:03.720 but on April 27th of 2023, Bill C-11, the Online Censorship Act, was passed to control free speech.
00:01:12.640 Our freedom of peaceful assembly, well, they were pretty quick to jump on to an emergency act
00:01:18.040 when it came to the trucker's convoy. So that also was being broken.
00:01:23.620 Our freedom to move freely within and around Canada.
00:01:27.180 What about the unvaccinated Canadians who weren't allowed to travel?
00:01:30.800 And now they're trying to implement 15-minute cities to control where we can go in our own towns.
00:01:36.780 Our freedoms of life, liberty, and security are also getting infringed.
00:01:41.120 When Alberta wouldn't even let people defend their own homes from a forest fire,
00:01:46.320 sending people with equipment, with tractors and all these cats and everything like that,
00:01:51.760 sending them away and letting people like strangers onto people's personal property
00:01:55.960 to clean out their homes and remove everything that was deemed dangerous.
00:02:01.880 They also want to start having digital IDs on all of us as well.
00:02:05.900 As you can see, this stresses me out quite a bit,
00:02:08.400 but in moments like these, we luckily have Jesus living within us
00:02:12.140 and his sacrifice for a renewed relationship with him will be a freedom forever,
00:02:16.660 unlike our Canadian rights.
00:02:19.280 When I get worked up over all the politics and issues of the world,
00:02:22.880 I think of the story of Peter when he was walking on water.
00:02:26.360 It started off that all the disciples were terrified,
00:02:29.080 thinking that Jesus was a ghost, appearing to them out of the mist in the water.
00:02:32.760 And then it led to Peter taking a step of faith towards Jesus
00:02:37.600 when he asked Jesus to tell him when to go.
00:02:41.200 When Peter had his eyes on Jesus, he absolutely had no issues walking on water.
00:02:46.160 But when he saw that the wind was boisterous,
00:02:48.760 he was afraid and beginning to sink.
00:02:51.100 He cried out, saying, Lord, save me.
00:02:53.720 And immediately Jesus stretched out his hand and caught him
00:02:56.940 and said to him, oh, you of little faith, why did you doubt?
00:03:01.600 Jesus gives us the freedom to have faith in him and will catch us when we fall.
00:03:05.080 And I think that's just beautiful.
00:03:07.340 When we have our eyes on Jesus, the wind and mountains seem a lot less scary.
00:03:11.680 But when we start to drown or panic, that's when we start focusing on the world.
00:03:16.220 And that's why we have such a freedom in faith.
00:03:19.260 When everything in the world can be taken away,
00:03:22.240 God's love for us won't be shaken.
00:03:23.700 And Jesus's death and resurrection can't be reversed.
00:03:27.880 All we have to do is look to God and he will guide us
00:03:30.680 because Jesus is the same today, tomorrow, and forever.
00:03:34.720 Even when our rights are taken away,
00:03:36.740 we will forever be God's children and have his Holy Spirit within us.
00:03:41.660 In conclusion, God is finding our balance for us
00:03:44.680 and Jesus's sacrifice gives us freedom forever as long as we have faith in him.
00:03:49.520 Our charters of rights and freedoms can easily be infringed
00:03:52.340 and we have proof of that in our daily life.
00:03:54.700 But God is still in control.
00:03:56.720 Like Peter took a step of faith and focused on Jesus to walk on water,
00:04:01.180 we need to do the same by letting the Lord free us
00:04:04.020 from our overwhelming focus on the mountains and the storm around.
00:04:07.780 And we have true freedom in faith.
00:04:10.680 Thank you.
00:04:11.080 Thank you.
00:04:11.120 Thank you.
00:04:12.120 Thank you.
