Summary

In this episode, I talk about property rights and property rights in general. Property is basically a claim to something, and you can have two types of property: property in rem, which is property to a thing or object, including land, or property in personum, which's property to an obligation. Property rights are a contract with the monarch, and they have duties to fulfill to us. With respect to the land, the king has duties to protect us in property rights as well, and all of the king's powers and duties originated in our common law, which in turn came back from the principles of Christianity. And when our settlers came here and settled in here, all our Christian principles came with us, and the laws of England flowed from here as well. And as long as that king is in power, then those principles are still part of our constitution, and still remain to the present day.

00:00:06.720 You can have what's called property in rem, which is property to a thing or an object, including land,
00:00:12.620 or you can have property in personum, which is property to an obligation.
00:00:20.180 So we have property rights in personum to the monarch, to the king, because we have a contract with them,
00:00:26.560 and they have duties to fulfill to us. With respect to the land, the king has duties to us,
00:00:34.200 to protect us in property rights as well. And all of the king's powers and duties originated in our
00:00:43.880 common law, which in turn came back from the principles of Christianity, of course. And when
00:00:50.640 our settlers came here, the law followed the flag. And when they sat down here and settled in here,
00:00:59.180 all our Christian principles came with us, and the laws of England flowed from here as well.
00:01:04.880 And as long as that king is in power, then those principles of Christianity are still part of our
00:01:10.840 constitution and still remain to the present day. And the king is required to uphold them throughout
00:01:15.220 the realm, period. So they came here, and they set up organizations, which eventually became cities,
00:01:23.080 towns, provinces, and so on, right? And then the king would uphold the principles of Christianity here,
00:01:32.320 which included property rights.
