00:43:30.000 For months, the staff and board of Austin Community Access Television have been plotting to change the 31-year-old award-winning institution.

00:43:39.000 These changes include turning one channel commercial Regulating and deciding which programming will be allowed on the channels and turning over the channel to the decidedly failed Austin Music Network.

00:43:54.000 These planned changes, contrived without the input of the many users of ACTV or the citizens of Austin, mean the death of an Austin institution and the end of free speech on Austin cable television, the last big venue.

00:44:07.000 Over a month ago, Alex Jones talked to several of the ACTV board members as well as one of the telecommunications lawyers from the city.

00:44:13.000 They revealed that the failed Austin Music Network was to take over part of ACTV's Channel 16.

00:44:18.000 Balltime Warner's new music channel, Austin Music Partners, will take over Channel 15, a non-access channel formerly Austin Music Network.

00:44:25.000 The two remaining channels, 10 and 11, will lose their free speech charter and be turned into city-managed channels with brand names like Inspirational TV and Free TV.

00:44:34.000 ACTV board members admitted that programs will be chosen and monitored and controlled.

00:44:39.000 This runs diametrically opposite to the stated mission charter of AXS Television, also against the charter, is their plan to take one or more of the channels commercial with sponsorship.

00:44:50.000 Board member Hill told Jones that there's also a plan to shut down ACTV building, which was constructed in the early 90s expressly for AXS TV.

00:44:59.000 And George Humphrey, city council member, former city council member, you've heard on this show, helped get that done.

00:45:04.000 Jones has it directly from the board that commercial channels are maneuvering to gain access to the channels currently occupied by ACTV.

00:45:12.000 They are doing this because the FCC is obliged, obligated, to give them UHF and VHF transmitters if they are able to occupy one of the so-called lower tier channels for a year.

00:45:30.000 They've admitted that the small amount of community programming will be allowed on the access channels, will be selected by them.

00:45:37.000 They're conspiring with Time Warner and private interests like Telemundo.

00:45:42.000 of how the channels can be shuffled for commercial entrance.

00:45:46.000 The bottom line is this, whereas in the 1980s they tried to shut down ACTV and were confronted with such an uproar that they were stopped in their tracks, they are now uniquely transforming ACTV into what will be unrecognizable, unrepresentative, and ultimately a planned failure.

01:27:16.000 Right, well this is immediately, apparently, because there were reports that, like at the hotel across the street from the Pentagon, there was some security people watching this security video from their own hotel, and the FBI just walks in and grabs the security video and takes off with it.

01:27:40.000 You have to ask yourself, how would they even be there so quickly?

01:27:43.000 It's as if they already knew where the cameras were, and as soon as the attack occurred, they went running around picking them all up.

01:27:50.000 I mean, it's in the... Bill Gertz and Rowan Scarborough, who wrote about those reporters in the Washington area, their quote is, hotel employees sat watching the film in shock and horror several times before the FBI confiscated the video.

02:06:28.000 The social worker told her she could not give her son false hope by saying God can heal him.

02:07:21.000 And the problem with trying to measure it, of course, is where do you say it starts and where do you say it ends?

02:07:28.000 So, you know, trying to say where it started and ended is difficult.

02:07:31.000 But if you divide the 1,300 feet by 16, take the square root, you get about nine seconds.

02:07:38.000 That's just free fall without any atmosphere to slow it down.

02:07:43.000 Which means these buildings were falling like free fall.

02:07:47.000 They could possibly have gone a little faster.

02:07:50.000 Some of the beams may have been pushed downward by those explosives, since that's what explosives do.

02:07:54.000 It's possible some of the beams actually went down faster than they would have just free-falling, since they got a boost from the explosives.

02:08:23.000 Well, the scientists who were analyzing the data were coming up with like eight seconds per one, which is a bit on the fast side.

02:08:34.000 You know, the range of it, the error range is, you know, it's difficult to say whether they went a little faster or a little bit slower.

02:42:34.000 These changes include turning one channel commercial, regulating and deciding which programs will be allowed on the other channels, and turning over a channel to the decidedly failed Austin Music Network.

02:42:47.000 These plan changes contravene without the input of many users of ACTV, mean the death of the Austin Institution and the end of free speech on cable television.

02:43:02.000 Over a month ago, I learned by talking to several of the ACTV board members, as well as one of the telecommunications lawyers from the city, that they revealed that the failed Austin Music Network was to take over ACTV's Channel 16, while Time Warner's new music channel, Austin Music Partners, will take over Channel 15, a non-access channel formerly Austin Music Network.

02:43:26.000 The two remaining channels, 10 and 11, will lose their free speech charter, And be turned into city-managed channels with brand names like Inspirational TV and Free TV.

02:43:36.000 ACTV board members admitted that programs will be chosen and monitored and controlled.

02:43:43.000 This runs diametrically opposed and opposite the stated mission charter of Axis Television.

02:43:49.000 Also against the charter is their plan to make one or more of the channels commercial with sponsorship.

02:43:57.000 Board member Hill told Jones that there's also a plan to shut down ACTV building which was constructed in the early 1990s from the old building set up in 1973.

02:44:08.000 Jones has it directly from the board that commercial channels are maneuvering to gain access to the channels currently occupied by ACTV.

02:44:15.000 They are doing this because the FCC is obligated to give VHF and UHF transmitters If they are able to occupy one of the so-called lower tier channels for a year.
