01:13:24.000 Helicopter Bernanke, the new Fed chief, says he's going to double the money supply.

01:13:28.000 Greenspan did it in the last six years.

01:13:30.000 We're talking about doubling in the next two.

01:13:33.000 Yes, I think there's a very concrete perspective now for hyperinflation, and of course that's something new.

01:13:38.000 The Commodity Research Bureau Index, which is the way I guess one would measure these things, hit a low back in 2001-2002, but it's been going up ever since.

01:13:49.000 Now, let me just try to set the stage.

01:13:51.000 This is not just a stock market ripple.

01:13:55.000 This is the death agony of the U.S.

01:13:56.000 dollar.

01:13:57.000 This is now the end of this obsolete and impossible role of the dollar as the sole reserve currency of the world, and indeed as the obligatory means of payment for oil and other strategic raw materials.

01:14:12.000 Probably more important, it's going to be the end of the dollar as the main vehicle of international lending.

01:14:18.000 It is the doom of the International Monetary Fund, which is of course the most sinister institution in the world, the World Bank, where Wolfowitz now is, and this complex of international lending institutions.

01:14:31.000 This is This is not Bretton Woods anymore.

01:14:33.000 This is the ruins of Bretton Woods.

01:14:35.000 This is all of the defects of Bretton Woods.

01:14:37.000 I want to go back and break down what Bretton Woods is, but I heard you over the weekend on your own radio show, you were going over, and I went and pulled some of those news articles, mainstream financial marquee publications, most highly respected, saying that we're in a lot of trouble.

01:14:53.000 Yes, and if you give me a chance, maybe after the next break I can go and find, I have a list of those articles.

01:14:58.000 I just don't have it right here in front of me.

01:15:00.000 Maybe we just talk about The general issue.

01:15:03.000 The biggest political question in the world is the nature of the world monetary system.

01:15:07.000 It's the most overarching and all-inclusive thing in the world, and it affects everybody every day in wages, employment, savings, exchange, purchases.

01:15:17.000 Everything depends on money, currency, the banking system, and so forth.

01:15:23.000 In 1944, we were fortunate enough, as the U.S.

01:15:25.000 was putting an end to World War II, We were able to sweep away the previous monetary system, which had been strangling the world, which had been the British Pound.

01:15:36.000 The British Pound had been the dominant currency from the end of the Napoleonic Wars in about 1815 until the First World War, but especially until 1931.

01:15:45.000 And people need to think of September 1931 as the really big date.

01:15:52.000 of the Great Depression in the 1930s.

01:15:54.000 The Wall Street stock market stuff is important, but it's a ripple compared to the collapse, the disintegration of the global monetary system.

01:16:05.000 So that was 1930.

01:16:06.000 That is what essentially wrecked the world economy, and of course, when this happens, it puts you straight on a course for world war, as we saw then, because if commodities cannot peacefully transfer across borders, then armies will soon begin to do the job.

01:16:20.000 So from 1944 to 1971, we had, globally speaking, the highest growth rates in world history.

01:16:27.000 This was a time of relative optimism, obviously a lot of problems, but there was economic growth.

01:16:32.000 Europe, Asia reconstructed after World War II and so forth.

01:16:36.000 However, the U.S. financiers insisted on running deficits, and they didn't want to gear up U.S. industry to compete in export markets.

01:16:46.000 They decided that they could go with controlled obsolescence, as the people in Detroit said at the time, and that suited the Wall Street people as well.

01:16:55.000 But of course, the problem with that is if you decide you're going to have the runaway shop and send all your industries abroad, then you're going to ruin your balance of payment situation.

01:17:03.000 And that is, at the end of this, we had the breakup of Bretton Woods Under Nixon, 1971 to 1973, Nixon essentially pulled the plug.

01:17:13.000 I want everybody to know it was the British who demanded gold payment, not the French, the British.

01:17:18.000 This was covered up at the time, and this is the usual pattern.

01:17:22.000 So the British pulled the plug, Nixon went along with that, John Connolly, Greenspan was even there at the time, and that was the end of two things.

01:17:30.000 Gold convertibility, In other words, the idea that you have to settle the accounts in gold at the end of the year.

01:17:36.000 So they took the inflation cap off?

01:17:40.000 You could call it that.

01:17:41.000 I would call it the reality principle.

01:17:42.000 In other words, you could still have inflation, but the idea is, as long as you had gold settlement, you could not have the United States... They just took the ceiling off.

01:17:49.000 You could already have a lot of inflation, but they just took it completely off and we entered La La Land.

01:17:53.000 They entered this world where the U.S. 0.99

01:17:55.000 can run a $1 trillion trade deficit, which is what we have now.

01:17:59.000 Under Bretton Woods, you couldn't do that.

01:18:01.000 And the other important thing was fixed parities.

01:18:03.000 In other words, you knew what a dollar was worth compared to the mark, the franc, the lira, and so forth.

01:18:10.000 You knew that because it fluctuated within very, very narrow bands, and this facilitated long-term investment and complicated capital-intensive projects over many years.

01:18:20.000 So, this was a much healthier world economy.

01:18:22.000 The British and the U.S. 0.69

01:18:24.000 banking system destroyed this.

01:18:26.000 Between 1971 to 1973.

01:18:28.000 Since then, we have been in the chaotic world of floating rates.

01:18:32.000 And it should be obvious to everybody, the U.S.

01:18:35.000 standard of living began to massively decline at precisely that time, around 1970 to 73.

01:18:42.000 And of course, I'm sure we've got a break, but none of this is done by accident.

01:18:46.000 This is done to create a predatory climate for criminal consolidation.

01:23:46.000 Well, I'll give you a couple of examples from the past week.

01:23:49.000 One is the Neue Zürcher Zeitung, the New Zurich Newspapers.

01:23:52.000 This is the voice of the three large Swiss banks and the Geneva investment banks.

01:23:58.000 And interestingly enough, this Swiss paper interviews Martin Wolf, the editor of the London Financial Times.

01:24:03.000 So it's the London Finance Oligarchs talking to the Gnomes of Zurich.

01:24:08.000 And he says, the present situation of the world economy cannot continue.

01:24:13.000 It's unsustainable, untenable.

01:24:15.000 We now have a choice between a positive outcome, which he describes as a severe but controlled correction.

01:24:23.000 What they mean by correction is a massive drop, a massive devaluation.

01:24:27.000 But when he says controlled, he means that everything stays under control and you pay through austerity.

01:24:33.000 In other words, the big debate is who will pay for the depression.

01:24:37.000 And these financiers want to shift the cost of the depression to you.

01:24:41.000 My program is to shift the cost of the depression to the financiers.

01:24:46.000 Let them pay the five to ten trillion dollars that a world depression costs.

01:24:50.000 Let them pay through the nose, through various forms of taxation which regards only them, which only regards people who have money flows in the billions, trillions, or quadrillions.

01:25:00.000 Anyway, Wolf then says, the other possibility we have is a negative or uncontrolled correction, a disorderly adjustment, Which will lead to a deep world crisis, a new world economic depression, and that's pretty much what we have.

01:25:15.000 The main issue, he says, is the U.S.

01:25:17.000 foreign debt overhang.

01:25:19.000 In other words, there are three, four, five trillion dollars out there in the world that don't correspond to anything.

01:25:27.000 They're things that have come out of Helicopter Ben's printing press, or Greenspan's printing press.

01:25:27.000 They're just paper.

01:25:33.000 Then he says the dollar could simply collapse.

01:25:36.000 There could be inflation, hyperinflation, And global depression.

01:25:40.000 And I think that's about probably a good estimate.

01:25:43.000 The Sydney Morning Herald from Australia says we have parallels to 1998 and the long-term capital management situation that was LCTM was a hedge fund in Connecticut.

01:25:55.000 They were doing derivatives, they bet on the Russian GKOs, the Russian state bonds.

01:26:00.000 But the speculative losses there were much smaller than they are now.

01:26:05.000 Yeah, that's what the article says.

01:26:07.000 In those days it was, you know, 3, 4, 5 billion.

01:26:10.000 Now it's, he says, hedge funds are 500 times more, larger, so that now you'd be thinking if LCTM went bankrupt today, it would be 25 billion.

01:26:21.000 At that time, LCTM practically blew out the whole world banking system, and it was only a rush job, a backdoor bailout, a crony bailout by Greenspan that saved LCTM, because some of the people involved were his business associates, right?

01:26:35.000 The Federal Reserve, of course, is a private institution that has never been audited and ought to be seized and nationalized immediately.

01:26:42.000 The only way to do it.

01:26:44.000 The Zurdeutsche Zeitung points to the other thing I would stress is hedge funds.

01:26:49.000 You remember George Soros, right?

01:26:50.000 He popularized this idea.

01:26:52.000 Or Robertson and the Tiger Fund.

01:26:56.000 There are now hedge funds.

01:26:57.000 These are hedge funds that deal only with rich people.

01:27:00.000 You and I can forget it.

01:27:02.000 You've got to be in the hundreds of millions before any hedge fund will even look at you.

01:27:06.000 And the hedge funds have few clients.

01:27:08.000 They so-called fly below the radar.

01:27:11.000 There have been proposals to regulate hedge funds.

01:27:14.000 Helicopter Ben Bernanke says, no, no, no, hedge funds are wonderful, they perform an important service, but the Süddeutsche Zeitung, South German newspaper of Munich, Germany, says we need to regulate hedge funds, put them on a leash, because again, if we get a new long-term capital management disaster, it will be far worse now than it was back in 1998.

01:27:35.000 In this country, we've also got this real estate bubble, which is now coming down.

01:27:40.000 So you can look at places like Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, these are sort of quasi-governmental financing agencies, and the goal was to make it possible for people of modest means to get a mortgage.

01:27:51.000 Webster, at what time can the globalists not continue to bail out these systems?

01:27:56.000 Well, see, I think, when you say globalists, the terminology I would use is London financiers, Wall Street financiers.

01:28:04.000 In other words, City of London, Wall Street is the heart of the matter because this is the dollar factor.

01:38:59.000 Morgan, working for the British, seized control of the U.S.

01:39:02.000 public debt with the help of Grover Cleveland, and that was codified and solidified about ten years later with the Woodrow Wilson Federal Reserve Act, which put Morgan, Mellon, Rockefeller, Vanderbilt, Astor, the rest of them, in control of Wall Street, but above all in control of U.S.

01:39:19.000 public debt and finance, and that has been going downhill ever since.

01:39:23.000 After the Second World War, under Roosevelt, there was a change.

01:39:26.000 Roosevelt fought them, and he changed things, but that was rolled back then by about 1955 or so, when the Federal Reserve reasserted its independence after it had been de facto nationalized by FDR.

01:39:41.000 They made a comeback, and that is the 57-58 recession.

01:39:44.000 Till today, we've had 50 years of increasing stagnation.

01:39:48.000 We've had 40 years, at least, of declining standards of living.

01:39:53.000 The US standard of living has been cut in half over a period of about 40 years.

01:39:58.000 And this is obviously one of the things that people are responding to.

01:40:02.000 Today we've got Ford bankrupt, General Motors bankrupt, Delphi bankrupt.

01:40:06.000 This is extremely serious because this is the last pool of machine tool capabilities we have.

01:40:12.000 These are the tool and die jobs, the union wages jobs that we've got to preserve.

01:40:17.000 I think it would be imperative to save the industrial capability represented by Ford, GM, Delphi, and so forth.

01:40:25.000 Not just in Detroit, but this reaches into every community, well, every state at least has communities that completely depend on this.

01:40:32.000 We've got to make a political decision that that capability will not be destroyed.

01:40:37.000 That those companies are going to have a debt moratorium, we're going to cancel their debt, and if necessary we're going to provide some kind of a subsidy to get them producing things we need, like railway cars, Mass transit, modular housing, ultimately vehicles for space travel, all kinds of capabilities.

01:40:56.000 If you lose your machine tool sector, you don't have a full set economy.

01:41:01.000 You're not a full scale country.

01:41:03.000 Let me break this down from a sociological perspective.

01:41:08.000 Mercantilism, as you know, developed around 300 years ago in France.

01:41:13.000 Where the elites would only license certain individuals, it wasn't really a free market.

01:41:19.000 It was an attempt to override and suppress the Renaissance that was developing all of this new wealth.

01:41:26.000 Elites openly wrote about this.

01:41:28.000 They've always been threatened by dynamic economies because that destroys monopolies.

01:41:34.000 So when you say they hate technology, You go to Japan or Europe, the trains are going 200 miles an hour.

01:41:41.000 The trains were going 100 miles an hour here 80 years ago.

01:41:44.000 Now they roll along at 20 miles an hour.

01:41:46.000 Because the tracks, and my dad worked for the railroad in college, folks, he knows, the tracks have never been upgraded.

01:41:52.000 Everything is falling apart.

01:41:55.000 And this is all done Publicly, by design, globalization is about destroying the nation-state, bringing in a world-parasitic, predatory government, and they can't have a middle class.

01:42:08.000 Sixty years ago, forty years ago, one family member had to work even blue-collar jobs.

01:42:15.000 You had vacations, you had college money, you had a two-car garage.

01:42:18.000 Now look at it!

01:42:20.000 Why are they doing this?

01:42:24.000 You can go back to ancient Greece.

01:42:27.000 You can find a writer who is actually called the Old Oligarch who says, I don't like the Athenian Navy because the Athenian Navy is high technology and it means that the people from the lower orders of society are experiencing upward mobility and we oligarchs don't like that.

01:42:46.000 The basic idea is Malthusian thinking.

01:42:50.000 Thomas Malthus is the demon.

01:42:52.000 He's represented today by Al Gore, as somebody was just pointing out.

01:42:56.000 Zero growth, anti-technology, the hatred of progress.

01:43:02.000 The official explanation in Hesiod of why there had to be the Trojan War was that the world was overpopulated, that there were too many people oppressing the breast of Mother Earth, so they had to be gotten rid of.

01:43:17.000 I have to say, the American system is really not a free market, but it's what you'd have to call derogism.

01:43:22.000 In other words, it's the partnership of a government that's interested in economic development with industrialists, not financiers, industrialists who are interested in the same thing.

01:43:34.000 You can see it in the Henry Carey, Matthew Carey, Friedrich List.

01:43:39.000 Abraham Lincoln.

01:43:40.000 You can see it in the populists in the 1890s.

01:43:43.000 Some of that got into the progressive movement.

01:43:45.000 You can see it above all in the New Deal lately.

01:43:48.000 A lot of good things that Roosevelt did.

01:43:50.000 These also have to be maintained and we have to go back to some of them.

01:43:54.000 And it's a tradition there, which is that you have to have A regulated market, because if you don't regulate it, the finance oligarchs will run wild and destroy the society, and that's what we have to do.

01:44:04.000 Well, I have to say this, Webster.

01:44:06.000 I mean, certainly you have elites that were manipulating and controlling Roosevelt, and I see that as a different phase, where at that time the elite was worried about killing the Golden Goose, the U.S.

01:44:16.000 that had been their engine, and so they did infuse some actual growth capital into general structures that would aid the population, but I see that as the parasites resuscitating their host that they almost suck dry.

01:44:29.000 Well, I guess we could debate this at length, but ultimately what Kennedy tried to do was to return to some of the features of the road map.

01:44:38.000 Oh, I agree, I agree.

01:44:39.000 He actually cut taxes by 50% and a lot of stuff.

01:44:42.000 The investment tax credit, perfect example.

01:44:45.000 Give people a tax break if they're willing to invest in productive plant and equipment.

01:44:49.000 But if you say productive plants and equipment, nobody knows what you're talking about.

01:44:53.000 Oh no, the federal government pays companies to move offshore.

01:44:56.000 Right, and we also have, let me just mention derivatives, because people don't see derivatives on television every day.

01:45:02.000 In the United States alone, there are more than a hundred trillion dollars, a hundred trillion, not billion, but trillion of derivatives.

01:45:10.000 And this is paper based on paper based on paper in many cases.

01:45:14.000 It has no connection whatsoever to any plant, equipment, productive activity, or anything of the sort.

01:45:20.000 This is all untaxed.

01:45:22.000 If you and I go to the supermarket, we're going to have to pay, in some states, a sales tax on our groceries, and anything else we buy, we're going to pay a sales tax for sure.

01:45:31.000 How about having a 1% tax on these finance oligarchs on their $100 trillion of derivatives? 0.99

01:45:37.000 I guarantee you, Nobody in your audience owns any derivatives.

01:45:41.000 That 1% would give you $1 trillion of tax revenue to deal with, and that would already go quite a ways towards getting the U.S.

01:45:50.000 If we had $100 trillion, we would not be in deficit, we wouldn't have problems with Social Security, we could fund Head Start so kids could get their breakfast in school, and so forth.

01:46:08.000 The other question is, if you look at Puerto Rico, Puerto Rico right now, as part of the United States, is the scene of an attempt of the financiers to crush an entire state.

01:46:18.000 It's a place that has run out of money two months before the end of the fiscal year, and the schools are shut down, and the 100,000 public workers have been sent home, and the bankers are demanding a sales tax.

01:46:31.000 In other words, regressive taxation that hits the poor harder than anything else.

01:46:35.000 And I would say, no, let's not tax the poor people of Puerto Rico.

01:46:40.000 Let's tax the banks. 0.95

01:46:46.000 I want to go to some calls here in just a moment, but specifically, what do you see happening in the next month to a year?

01:46:54.000 As of about February, Japan has announced that it's not going to have 0% interest rates, which was the main thing propping up the dollar.

01:47:01.000 Everybody would borrow in Japan, buy dollars, keep the dollar up, and then buy derivatives and give the money to hedge funds.

01:47:07.000 We had Iceland going in the tank, probably the largest bank on the verge of bankruptcy.

01:47:12.000 In March, we had the Gulf states, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, 30% to 40% collapses of their stock markets.

01:47:19.000 We had a crisis in New Zealand.

01:47:20.000 Now we've got Puerto Rico.

01:47:22.000 And now we have the world stock market panic as of today.

01:47:25.000 So it's a rolling, creeping crisis, and it's going to develop into a dollar panic no later than July.

01:47:31.000 In July, we have two big events.

01:47:32.000 The Iran Oil Bourse, where for the first time, people from around the world can come and buy and sell oil and natural gas That's only 6% of total oil exports.

01:47:46.000 Are you saying it's going to start a domino?

01:47:52.000 The domino is this.

01:47:53.000 Right now you have about $2.5 trillion of central bank reserves.

01:47:57.000 Of that, about two-thirds are in dollars.

01:48:00.000 Let's say it's $2 trillion of dollar central bank reserves held outside in the world.

01:48:06.000 If you get the Iranian oil bourse, meaning that you can use those euros to buy oil, pretty much in unlimited quantities, and you've also got the Russians making the ruble convertible and opening up a ruble-based oil market, a lot of the two trillion dollar-denominated central bank reserves are going to go out of the dollar.

01:48:26.000 Now, as of right now, to survive, the U.S.

01:48:29.000 dollar has to borrow Let's call it $3 billion a day, because we've got a trillion dollar deficit, 365 days a year.

01:48:37.000 You can do the math, but remember it's rising very fast.

01:48:43.000 dollar has to borrow $3 billion a day.

01:48:47.000 What happens if we see A couple of hundred billion leaving on any given day, which is what Stockholm, Sweden has threatened to do.

01:48:56.000 United Arab Emirates are doing it.

01:48:58.000 It's known that the Japanese, Chinese, Russians are diversifying out of the dollar.

01:49:03.000 The idea is the dollar has no visible means of support.

01:49:06.000 It's a vagrant currency.

01:49:08.000 Volcker's nightmare, when Volcker was at the Federal Reserve, was as soon as you get a dollar collapse, a dollar decline going, It turns into an avalanche.

01:53:35.000 My question for you is in the end of your book, you talked about Iran and you said that from what you have uncovered, there's a lot of generals in our military that don't want a war with Iran, just because of the amount of problems we're already having with Iraq.

01:53:51.000 I mean, Topley wrote a second edition a year ago, and he's absolutely right.

01:53:54.000 Now we've seen six in the last two months go public, and two more before that.

01:54:01.000 And, I mean, personally, I don't even know where we would get the troops from it.

02:53:08.000 Well Jeff, as you just mentioned, they held a news conference just a little while ago and the Dallas County Health Department does confirm that there was marijuana in the muffins.

02:53:16.000 They have ruled out that there is any kind of natural food poisoning here.

02:53:19.000 So obviously they think that this is intentional.

02:53:22.000 So the FBI has released pictures, these pictures of a man believed to be in his teens to early twenties.

02:53:28.000 He is carrying a bag in one hand and wearing a white t-shirt and dark pants.

02:53:33.000 The FBI said today he is a person of interest, but believed that he carried the muffins in that bag which sickened 18 school employees.

02:53:40.000 Authorities say they take this very seriously, even deploying the Joint Terrorism Task Force to investigate this case.

02:53:47.000 Because we weren't sure whether or not it was a weapon of mass destruction possibly, or whether or not it was a food tampering incident.

02:53:53.000 The health department says that they did not find the actual marijuana plant in the muffins.

02:53:59.000 They found THC, which is a substance in the marijuana plant.

02:54:02.000 They say somehow it was extracted and baked into the muffins and that there were obviously dangerous levels and that is what sickened the people.

02:54:09.000 Now we've also heard that there may have been Benadryl in those muffins.

02:54:14.000 They are still doing further testing with the FDA to confirm if there were any other kind of substances.
