01:14:06.000 If you think about it, you've got to go back to, remember, the dot-com craze of the late 90s.

01:14:11.000 A lot of these dot-com companies did what was called banner swapping, where company A and company B would swap, let's say, a million dollars worth of banners.

01:14:20.000 These banners had no intrinsic value at all.

01:14:24.000 But both companies would book the transaction as a short-term gain, and both companies would book the long-term liability.

01:14:34.000 If you think about that in terms of what the banks have been doing for the past five to ten years, it's kind of a sophisticated version of this banner swapping, where Bank A and Bank B, they'll both swap a billion dollars with the derivatives.

01:14:45.000 These derivatives have no intrinsic value whatsoever.

01:14:49.000 But both Bank A and Bank B will book the immediate sales of profit.

01:14:53.000 That'll drop down to the bottom line.

01:14:55.000 That'll boost the stock price, which will trigger an option payment to the executive.

01:15:00.000 And both banks will consider the loss as a long-term liability that they don't have to worry about for 10, 20, 30 years.

01:15:07.000 Now, what happened, that's just...

01:15:09.000 If you look in that context, you understand that what's been going on is just billions, hundreds of billions, and trillions of dollars worth of what are intrinsically, inherently worthless transactions, but they generate these huge amounts of fees for the people involved.

01:15:24.000 And for 10 or 15 years, they could get away with it, because for 10 or 15 years, you're really going all the way back to The early 1980s, the trend in the market, in the bond market specifically, has been one where interest rates have been, for the most part, going down.

01:15:41.000 So this has covered up a lot of sins over the past 10, 15, 20 years.

01:15:45.000 And so has the trade deficit.

01:15:49.000 Exactly, because that is essentially a number That keeps building, but you know, a lot of those numbers never hit the actual balance sheet.

01:15:58.000 For example, you know, the number like the GDP number, or the inflation number, or the employment numbers, you know, a lot of these numbers are not, are massaged.

01:16:13.000 But what happened last summer, Alex, and the reason why this crisis really hit, was that starting last summer, you had this long-term trend in interest rates, Reverse itself.

01:25:49.000 Well, that's been abused over the years, so that the government is now using that mechanism to, as we see now, to make political policy by making prices move.

01:25:59.000 And in the case of these prices on the derivative exchanges and the bond markets, you don't actually have to go in there and change the price per se.

01:26:06.000 You just need to change the ratio required that creates a downtick or an uptick.

01:26:12.000 For example, on the Hollywood Stock Exchange or any virtual market, if I want to make it so that stock prices go down, I simply change the ratio required of a sale versus a buy that would affect the downtick.

01:26:24.000 And if you affect that change, you create anyone that comes in with a sell order That sell order is magnified versus a buy order.

01:26:32.000 Every sell order suddenly is worth a hundred sell orders.

01:26:35.000 And if you simply change that technology, you're not actually buying or selling anything.

01:26:39.000 You're just playing into somebody's emotion because, as we know from economics and finance, there's a lot of emotion involved.

01:26:46.000 And if you start to see prices tick down, you then are emotionally, you're kind of drawn into it and you panic and you sell more readily.

01:26:56.000 And this is very easy for them to do this.

01:26:57.000 Now, I had an issue a few years ago because the Pentagon was launching under Poindexter.

01:27:03.000 They were launching a virtual market called the Policy Analysis Market, or PAM, where they wanted to make futures contracts based on future terrorist events, or try to predict terrorist events.

01:27:15.000 It was going to be betting on terrorist events, which, by the way, they could trigger when they wanted to.

01:27:21.000 Well, that was my point.

01:27:22.000 You see, they go out there with this message that markets are fair.

01:34:48.000 And I think, again, you know, my predictions that I've made have been based on looking for how and when markets have been manipulated And then understand who's manipulating them, why they're manipulating them.

01:35:05.000 You know, after the 9-11 collapse, you know, Greenspan dropped interest rates to a very, very low level.

01:35:13.000 He was manipulating the interest rate market.

01:35:19.000 You know, that the idea was, we can't show the bad guys that we're going to stop shopping.

01:35:34.000 And this created, you know, there should have been a recession in 2001 and 2002 because of the dot-com collapse.

01:35:43.000 Greenspan simply reinflated the bubble by keeping those rates too low as a way to really overcompensate for those attacks.

01:35:51.000 Because those attacks, you know, there was already a recession baked into the cake.

01:35:58.000 They manipulated rates down.

01:35:59.000 And so now it's worse today, and then they're going to pump it up again, making it even worse in the future.

01:36:10.000 Now, what's in that bill that they're trying to circulate?

01:36:12.000 Unbelievably, there's a clause in the bill that would move to reserve less banking.

01:36:18.000 They want to have the American banking system go from having one or two or three percent reserves on the balance sheet for the loans to zero.

01:36:28.000 That's like saying we're going to be moving to an economy based on a currency that's collateralized by chicken feathers.

01:36:36.000 There's absolutely nothing in there.

01:36:38.000 They want to have an economy that's pure transaction.

01:36:41.000 They want to still generate fees.

01:36:43.000 Hank Paulson's laundromat, the $700 billion laundromat, all they do is it's a circular laundromat.

01:36:48.000 The bad debts go in, and then nice fresh T-bills that are completely uncollateralized, freshly printed, come out.

01:36:55.000 There's a lot booked.

01:36:56.000 And that book loss is going to go as an item on the balance sheet to be paid for, but I don't call them the American taxpayer because there's no such thing anymore.

01:37:06.000 You have all the American debt slaves.

01:38:19.000 You know, they were doing this as part of the build-up to the meltdown in the real estate market.

01:38:28.000 They're talking about how they themselves were issuing bonds to finance the subprime while shorting the bonds at the same time.

01:38:36.000 So they have this internal schizophrenia that's almost psychotic.

01:38:42.000 When you talk to a lot of your guests on your show, you talk to eminent economists, and the question always comes up, why are they doing this?

01:38:48.000 It seems like they're shooting themselves in the foot.

01:38:50.000 I'm pretty sure that there's a certain element, you know, of psychosis.

01:38:55.000 I call it almost as if Hank Paulson has become like Colonel Kirk.

01:38:59.000 He's going upriver, and he's surrounding himself with bankers, and he's trying to destroy, you know, he's trying to destroy the entire world.

01:39:10.000 It's a classic situation, isn't it?

01:40:15.000 Now, looking at this, play out, do you think the establishment was counting on Congress saying no to the bailout, A, B, do you think they'll be successful now with the financial terrorism?

01:40:30.000 During a break you likened it to the terror alert and every time Rumsfeld needed money or there was a political problem they would just declare that Al-Qaeda was about to attack and the public would buy that for a while until they stopped buying it.

01:40:42.000 I mean, what are they going to do in the short term?

01:40:43.000 Was this a defeat for them or were they counting on that so they could then throttle the stock market and then get the public to acquiesce to this, to signing on to it?

01:40:53.000 I think it was a defeat.

01:40:54.000 I think it was a bit surprising.

01:40:56.000 But I also think that, as we've described, they can do pretty much anything they want to the market, and it scares people.

01:41:03.000 And as we were saying, it's just like this terror alert that you used to get.

01:41:07.000 You know, every time Pentagon wanted more money, they'd hit the red alert, and suddenly there was an alert, everyone was hiding under their desks, and the Pentagon got a huge new influx of money for their budget.

01:41:18.000 Similarly, they're using the market in this similar way.

01:41:22.000 You know, you've mentioned it in terms of financial terrorism, etc., and I don't think that's far from the actual truth.

01:41:29.000 Based on what I know in terms of how markets can be manipulated, we talked about the policy analysis market for a second, which was that market on terror futures, and the room for abuse for that is incredible, because now you've got people directly profiting from manipulating a market, and then when they take their profits, they can simply say, well, It wasn't us.

01:41:48.000 It was the market.

01:41:49.000 See, that's the tall grass everyone runs into.

01:41:51.000 Every time that there's a crash or something like this, they say, well, it wasn't us.

01:41:55.000 It was the market, and nobody knows the market.

01:41:57.000 That's completely incorrect at this stage of the game.

01:42:00.000 The market, the prices on these stocks, bonds, currencies, are being managed.

01:42:05.000 They're being targeted for an effect.

01:42:07.000 If they think that it's going to take a certain percent drop in the Dow Jones to pass this bill, they will get to that price.

01:42:13.000 And they can do so using the technology they have.

01:42:16.000 And using the relationships that they have.

01:42:18.000 There is no buy and sell as that notion is understood in a free market.

01:42:23.000 And, you know, Ron Paul is absolutely right when he says that, you know, to paraphrase, he talks about that the free market is really not at work in the United States.

01:42:32.000 You've got now something that looks like a free market, but it's being operated by people who are using it as a scare tactic.

01:42:38.000 That's clear.

01:42:39.000 I can see that as an expert, if you will, on the technology of markets.

01:42:43.000 I've been involved for 25 years.

01:42:45.000 I can tell you without a shadow of a doubt that these markets are being manipulated for political ends.

01:42:50.000 Well, they admit they are, and at the same time, it's more than just insider trading.

01:42:55.000 It's insider regulation.

01:42:56.000 It's the ultimate, and in fact, and I want your take on this, but I would say that this is, that the term conflict of interest isn't strong enough for just Henry Paulson alone with Goldman Sachs.

01:43:13.000 There's a cult.

01:43:14.000 There's a cult of personality.

01:43:16.000 It's not just a conflict of interest.

01:43:17.000 It's like saying that Charles Manson is squeaky fine at a conflict of interest.

01:44:09.000 Meanwhile, I had a congressman on yesterday, Bergus, And a lot of others are saying that the reason they're voting against this, the package yesterday, was because there is so much insider opportunism going on, and then earlier you just mentioned,

01:44:25.000 you know, the fact that there will be no reserves in this banking, but that's only in a select Yeah, against parts of the market that aren't in as much trouble as they're saying it you mean is there any reality to that

01:44:50.000 absolutely. The Glass-Steagall Act, as you know, was put up there after the crash.

01:44:55.000 As far as the Securities Act of 1933 and 1934, the SEC put up the Glass-Steagall Act to separate banks and brokers, because they're naturally cannibalistic.

01:45:03.000 Now, under Clinton, actually, the Glass-Steagall was repealed, which gave these banks and brokers the ability to collude again. 0.74

01:45:12.000 And what we're seeing now is these rapacious, vampire-like, debt-sucker, black-hole banks. 0.88

01:45:20.000 So they're going after these small deposits, these small banks.

01:45:42.000 They want that fresh cash to feed their, their, uh, their repatient debt, you know, spinning, fee generating, Model that it just doesn't work.

01:45:53.000 Again, you know, I mean, not to quote Ron Paul, but he does make some excellent points.

01:46:02.000 It doesn't matter how much money you throw at it.

01:46:05.000 If the model is broken, it doesn't make any sense to continue the model.

01:47:54.000 I suggested this a couple years ago, and I was immediately smeared by the right-wing press in America, but it was written up by a banker in Europe, Shavu Bank, as the ultimate weapon for activism.

01:48:09.000 Think of it this way.

01:48:10.000 If deflation is the only thing that can fight inflation, then why not target your deflation?

01:48:14.000 Why not get together as a community, as an American community, and say, you know what?

01:48:19.000 We've got the power to make these markets reflect our interests.

01:48:23.000 And what you can do, for example, is you look at these stocks, you look at a stock that might be vulnerable to the only weapon that an impoverished person has at their disposal, which is a boycott.

01:49:55.000 Number two, the same hedge funds that are attacking you and your savings, and attacking you and your, you know, American dollar, are going to attack Koch stock.

02:39:26.000 And when you go in and you start tearing out the economic base of these banks and loan companies and these mortgage things, that only throws gas on the fire.

02:40:08.000 people in that country to do anything, you have to take away the reconnaissance.

02:40:13.000 You have to take away their eyes by using the media to tell them, don't worry about anything, sit on the couch, open another six-pack and watch the ballgame, shut up, stay out of the way, the government will take care of you.

02:40:24.000 And so people take their antenna down, they fold up the radar set and put it away, and then they sit there and let this sort of thing happen.

02:44:25.000 You know, I mean, I look at stuff like the Civil War.

02:44:28.000 And on both sides of the Civil War, we could not fight that war today.

02:44:31.000 Our army, Alex, could not fight the Civil War today with the conditions they went through, with the equipment they had.

02:44:40.000 You look at the Battle of Gettysburg alone.

02:44:44.000 And the Union Army made contact with the Confederate Army, who had been forging up north and was coming back south at Gettysburg.

02:44:50.000 They made contact with the lead elements, and they had 30 miles of troops strung out down the road with hot, full-sleeve wool uniforms in the middle of July, carrying packs full of all their gear, big heavy muskets, bayonets, canteens, all that, and ordered them to run to the battle.

02:45:11.000 A lot of them had to dump their packs, and the farmers stole them so they didn't have food when they got there.

02:45:15.000 But the bottom line was they ran all the way to the battle, and then they fought the battle when they got there.

02:45:21.000 I hate to say that, but we're just not geared for that.

02:45:25.000 We're geared more to jump on the Humvee, jump on the tank, you know, ride as far as we can, get on the helicopter, then fight door-to-door, but not do the long infantry-type battles that they had in those days.

02:49:27.000 You can take a brigade from the 82nd Airborne, and you can send them to some town in the United States and say, maintain order.

02:55:29.000 And he said that if this should happen, then if we had an emergency situation in the United States that required military intervention, that we would be required or have to call upon foreign assets to patrol our streets.

02:55:49.000 Now, we take this and we throw one other thing into the mix, and that's the fact that the Clintons destroyed the military when they were in it. 0.90
