00:41:54.000 It's because they don't trust the Republicans anymore to do anything about it.

00:42:00.000 You know, as I'm going to be running as a Republican, we need to bring back believability to the Republicans and say, we do believe in reducing the deficit and cutting spending and doing the things that we talked about for many years but never did once we got in power.

00:42:17.000 We need a lot more people to run.

00:42:18.000 They are running.

00:42:19.000 People for county commissioner, dog catcher, mayor, sheriff.

00:42:23.000 State representatives on the Liberty bandwagon, and that's why we see 30-plus states moving to declare 10th and 9th Amendment sovereignty.

00:42:33.000 That's why we see resolutions defending the Second Amendment and declaring state sovereignty on the Second Amendment being declared.

00:42:39.000 I mean, we're actually counter-striking the globalists that are trying to take over our nation on every front, aren't we, Dr. Paul?

00:42:46.000 Well, I think 2010 could be a big year because just historically there's a backlash a lot of times against presidents.

00:42:53.000 The other thing is this president is going so far in the direction of government, direct government ownership of banks, direct government ownership of the auto companies, that there, I think, there will be a backlash and it could be a good year.

00:43:06.000 And people ask me if I did run, win the nomination, what would I say about the Democrat opponent?

00:43:11.000 I really think they're going to have to defend Obama, and it can be a campaign about President Obama in 2010.

00:43:18.000 And while he does have high popularity roles in Kentucky, he lost overwhelmingly to John McCain, and John McCain ran sort of a lackluster campaign, but he still wiped out President Obama in Kentucky.

00:43:30.000 So Kentucky is rife, I think, for talking about the fact that we can't go along this road, we cannot continue to sustain this massive deficit.

00:43:41.000 90% chance you're going to run?

00:43:43.000 I mean, what do you need to see in your exploratory committee to ensure that you do run?

00:43:49.000 There's a couple of things going on.

00:43:50.000 It's kind of a tricky situation.

00:43:52.000 We have an incumbent senator, Jim Bunning, who actually did vote against the bank bailout and has been fairly conservative.

00:43:59.000 He, unfortunately, did vote for some other things that we have a great disagreement with, such as the Patriot Act.

00:44:05.000 But he, in general, was kind of conservative.

00:44:08.000 He says he's running.

00:44:09.000 But at the same time, he says if he doesn't raise enough money, he won't run.

00:44:13.000 He also has encouraged another candidate other than myself to form an exploratory committee, which doesn't seem to make sense, because if he's really running, why would he encourage other people to compete with him for fundraising if that's the key criteria for him to keep running?

00:44:27.000 Well, I don't care if he's got a half good...

00:44:29.000 I mean, Dr. Paul, to interrupt here, I don't care if he's got a few good things on his record, a bunch of it's bad.

00:44:35.000 Your dad isn't going to live forever.

00:44:37.000 We need to use the Paul name for liberty and we need you to go ahead and get into politics and go ahead and start winning to follow in your father's footsteps.

00:44:46.000 I think that's sort of the question and some of it will be shown by what we can raise through the exploratory committee.

00:44:52.000 I was telling you earlier, we plan on going to several different states.

00:44:55.000 I'm working on coming to Texas in August, and we're hoping to actually get down to your neck of woods to Austin, and we know we have a lot of friends in the Austin area.

00:45:03.000 The Austin area is one of the biggest meet-up groups in the country, and we hope that the people of Texas will try to get us a new U.S. Senator in Kentucky.

00:45:12.000 The power of having a Paul in the House and a Paul in the Senate And for folks who want to know your policies, your ideas, I've read your writings, I know your history with the Kentucky Taxpayers Association and what you've done.

00:45:26.000 You're basically what I would call a chip off the old block.

00:45:30.000 Your policies are basically identical to your father, correct?

00:45:33.000 I'd say we'd be very, very similar.

00:45:35.000 We might present the message sometimes differently.

00:46:28.000 We just have to define what is in our best national defense.

00:46:31.000 But once we do so, We need to appear and acknowledge that we do believe in a military response to those who attack us.

00:46:41.000 Sure, I mean that's just a popular thing.

00:46:44.000 But obviously you would try to repeal the Patriot Act, you'd try to repeal unconstitutional gun laws, you'd try to defend the borders?

00:46:50.000 Yeah, and in fact one of the things that I spoke recently at the Knob Creek machine gun shootout in Kentucky, a pretty amazing thing, Over 3,000 people show up at this machine gun shootout and I gave a speech there and I said, I'm a great defender of the Second Amendment, but you know what?

00:47:06.000 If you want the Second Amendment, you've got to defend the First Amendment also.

00:47:10.000 McCain-Feingold limits what Second Amendment groups can do, limits my taxpayer group from buying advertising.

00:47:16.000 It's actually illegal for me to buy advertising within 60 days of the election under McCain-Feingold.

00:47:21.000 So I tell them, if you want the Second Amendment, you want to defend the Second, you've got to defend the First, and I said, if you want the Second Amendment, you want to be Free from government intrusion and looking and snooping about what guns you have in your house, you've got to believe in the Fourth Amendment.

00:47:35.000 You can't have the Patriot Act, which eviscerated the Fourth Amendment, if you really want to be free in your home to be allowed to own guns for personal protection.

01:39:08.000 I want the people to know that did this, we're not just going to defend this little girl, we're going to come after you for what you did, and wait until we cover what you did coming up.

01:39:17.000 I gave the number of the sheriff, I gave the number of the mayor in Muda, I gave the number of the county commissioner's court judge there at the offices, and I said, people, call these numbers.

01:39:28.000 The broadcast prompted a flood of calls into the Hays County Sheriff's Office, tying up the 911 system.

01:39:36.000 We got calls from California, New York, all over people that listened to this show that were just totally upset.

01:39:45.000 Lieutenant Leroy Opiela says the deputy stood outside the room while CPS interviewed the little girl, and he never coerced her to submit to a search.

01:39:55.000 Nevertheless, thousands of people called the sheriff's administrative line, which then crippled the 911 system for at least 10 minutes.

01:40:03.000 The sheriff's office says part of the problem may have been that some of the operators who answer the 911 system also answer the administrative lines, and they could have been so tied up with the influx of calls that they weren't available to answer the emergency calls.

01:40:18.000 As far as 911 operators know, Hayes County didn't miss legitimate emergency calls, but the ordeal still leaves accusations hanging out there.

01:40:28.000 All the little girl knows is it was men in there telling her she'd get in trouble.

01:40:31.000 I wasn't there.

01:40:33.000 Mr. Jones wasn't there.

01:40:34.000 I don't believe that happened.

01:40:43.000 Now, I've talked to the CPS woman, and I've sat there with her on speakerphone when Janet Sanchez, her mother, has talked to her.
