02:07:30.000 Ordering the Capitol evacuated, which was a violation of the separation of powers, and Democratic enemies were getting sent anthrax, and people that had taken photos of the Bush daughters in Austin falling down on each other drunk in a provocative pose were getting the letters, and it was clearly meant to blame it on Muslims, and the FBI said this is run-of-the-mill, no big deal, but I had bioweapons experts on saying this is incredibly deadly.

02:09:16.000 You know, Cipro, this antibiotic that was the treatment for anthrax, their stocks went through the roof.

02:09:27.000 But as you said, Alex, you know, after a couple of weeks of being in the headlines, the story faded.

02:09:34.000 The FBI announced they had this huge investigation, but it's pretty Pretty quickly, it seemed that that investigation was not going anywhere.

02:09:44.000 They had a so-called person of interest, this army scientist by the name of Stephen Hatfield, and very early on, the FBI were convinced that they could blame it on one person.

02:09:59.000 There was just one person behind this, and that's one of the things that we decided to look at.

02:10:05.000 We said, well, actually, You know, it's much bigger than this.

02:10:08.000 We've actually got to look at this from an international perspective, because, you know, the kind of anthrax that was sent, especially to Congress, was very, very sophisticated.

02:10:22.000 When the FBI scientists examined the anthrax that was used in the attacks against the congressmen, That anthrax, when they examined it in the lab, in this BSL-3 lab, high containment lab, they put it on a microscope and the anthrax actually lifted up and floated into the air.

02:10:52.000 So this was super sophisticated anthrax.

02:10:54.000 And it really meant that this had come out of a state-sponsored program.

02:30:00.000 anything about him being in government custody in the headlines that itself was suspicious and then it was that's it Patsy's dead I mean this so they tried over and over again with different Patsy's finally they got a Patsy that couldn't couldn't argue with them or I mean just a suspicious death alone Well, we have to remember the first guy, the person of interest that they initially focused on was another U.S.

02:30:29.000 And they said they never named the suspect, but his name was leaked to the media, he was pounded by the FBI, and Hatfield was a tough guy.

02:30:46.000 For the government settled with him for almost six million dollars and basically cleared him of all wrongdoing.

02:30:52.000 And just a few weeks later, the FBI announces, hey, we've got our guy.

02:31:02.000 Bruce Ivins was also a U.S.

02:31:03.000 Army scientist, and he did help the FBI early in the investigation into the anthrax attacks.

02:31:11.000 And, uh, the FBI claimed that, um, he got onto their radar, um, a few months before, or a little bit longer than that, before he committed suicide.

02:31:22.000 He was put under extreme pressure again.

02:31:26.000 He was harassed by the FBI.

02:31:29.000 His children were even approached and offered, I think his son was offered a sports car, a Corvette, if he could rat out his father.

02:31:38.000 His security clearance was withdrawn.

02:31:42.000 And Bruce Ivins, you know, was made out in the media to have some mental problems.

02:31:48.000 But it's true, he was put under a lot of duress.

02:31:52.000 And the FBI, a year ago,

02:31:54.000 announced that uh... yeah we got a guy he's just committed suicide the official story is that uh... bruce ivins uh... you know to was drinking heavily and took some uh... some prescription tylenol and uh... was found uh... unconscious and taken to a hospital and uh... you know died two years uh... two days later but the interesting thing alex is that we're actually in the edit room editing
