00:35:08.000 They were able to show that on ABC News and CBS News like it was a good thing to condition and acclimate the public to accept this.

00:36:20.000 But the other thing that scares me is finding out my kid has never been to Iraq or Iran.

00:36:26.000 Now she's having flashbacks, uh, I have pictures of her there.

00:36:31.000 She said she's never there.

00:36:32.000 This is the part of the military that scares me.

00:36:34.000 What they did to my kid has no recollection at all of what happened.

00:36:40.000 And now having dreams of being a sniper, having pictures of her friends showing her there, this is what I'm scared of.

00:36:46.000 And I've got to let it go because it's really upsetting me.

00:36:51.000 You know, what's strange is I have a Wired Magazine article.

00:36:55.000 It's got to be from eight, nine years ago.

00:36:58.000 And I've seen other recent publications report that they are giving amnesic drugs in quote tests to units in Afghanistan and Iraq.

00:37:11.000 And that they're having record post-traumatic stress disorders, they're having record suicides, and just saw the headline two days ago, the majority of troops in military hospitals now are there for mental illness.

00:37:27.000 Well, yeah, they're serving two, three, four, five, six tours.

00:37:31.000 No military has ever made their troops do that in modern history.

00:37:35.000 And so it's really screwing them up, these type of high-stress situations.

00:37:40.000 I mean, how many of you have caught a burglar in your house and had them assault you and you have nightmares about it and flashbacks?

00:37:48.000 How many of you have ever been mugged and hit over the head and you have nightmares and flashbacks?

00:37:53.000 How many of you have ever been Assaulted and had nightmares and flashbacks about it.

00:38:00.000 I mean, how many of you have been in a really bad car wreck and had nightmares and flashbacks about it?

00:38:04.000 And then, you know, it takes you a few months and you get over it, but you're still scared when somebody else is driving and they're driving fast.

00:38:10.000 Well, imagine having thousands of experiences like that.

00:38:13.000 That's basically what the military goes through.

00:38:16.000 I mean, the SWAT teams go through it.

00:38:19.000 Kicking down hundreds and hundreds of doors.

00:38:24.000 In a SWAT team's career, it is very traumatic.

00:38:28.000 You know who really goes through traumatic stress?

00:38:33.000 Is emergency room doctors and nurses.

00:38:38.000 I mean, they're seeing people die in big hospitals every week.

00:38:41.000 They're seeing children die.

00:38:43.000 I've talked to several people that work in my office that just so happen to be former EMTs, and Both of the people in my office who were, you know, ambulance technicians, they quit because of seeing dead children.

00:39:03.000 I think one guy said he was like six, seven years.

00:39:05.000 He worked as an EMP, one of the other fellas three years. 0.86

00:39:07.000 And when you go into an apartment and there's a two-year-old dead who ate a bunch of cocaine off the table and they're bright blue and you can't resuscitate them, I mean, that is stressful.

00:39:17.000 That's post-traumatic stress disorder.

00:39:19.000 And that's why police drink and use drugs more than any other profession.

00:39:23.000 That's why the troops do that.

00:39:25.000 Because it's hard, ladies and gentlemen.

00:39:27.000 I mean, I've not gone through, you know, one one-hundredth of what people in the military have, but I grew up in Dallas.

00:39:35.000 I was probably in, I don't know, 70, 80. I haven't counted it up.

00:39:39.000 Knocked down, drag out, you know, really bad fights.

00:39:44.000 And one time I was at a party, And this was when I was about 14. I'm going to go back to your calls in a moment.

00:39:52.000 I'm going off the deep end here, telling stories.

00:39:54.000 But I was 14. I was at a college party in my neighborhood, because I had some friends that were in college.

00:40:01.000 And this girl was talking to me. 0.99

00:40:04.000 And then this preppy guy came over and said, I'm going to kick your butt if you talk to her. 1.00

00:40:07.000 That's my ex-girlfriend. 1.00

00:40:08.000 And I didn't even start a fight.

00:40:09.000 I said, OK, man, whatever.

00:40:11.000 But I was kind of smart about it.

00:40:12.000 I said, oh, you're a tough guy.

00:40:13.000 I went into the kitchen to get beer out of the refrigerator.

00:40:17.000 And he came in behind me with a butcher knife and slammed it up against my throat and was basically foaming at the mouth. 1.00

00:40:29.000 He had me in a headlock, saying, I'll kill you. 1.00

00:40:32.000 I want to slit your throat. 1.00

00:40:33.000 He was doing it so hard that it put cuts on my neck and I was bleeding. 1.00

00:40:36.000 And I got very calm.

00:40:39.000 You know, at a primitive level, I knew this guy's going to freak out and slit my throat if I spaz out.

00:40:43.000 And I said, you're the boss.

00:40:44.000 You're right.

00:40:44.000 I apologize.

00:40:45.000 And he let me go and I left.

00:40:48.000 Now, a few weeks later, a month later, whatever it was, he was at another party and stabbed a guy in the heart.

00:40:58.000 And the guy almost died and the guy went to prison for it.

00:41:01.000 But I mean, that's an example.

00:41:02.000 And I still, every six months or so, have a nightmare of that happening, a flashback, and I wake up.

00:41:12.000 Now, that was one event.

00:41:14.000 Can you imagine the military with hundreds of events?

00:41:19.000 I mean, if you go serve a tour in a combat zone, you're probably gonna have, every day, bad events, traumatic events, and maybe once a week have an event, you know, on the Richter scale, similar to what I just talked about, or worse.

00:41:32.000 Can you imagine?

00:41:34.000 And some of them turn into psychopaths and like it, but most of them don't.

00:41:37.000 And, I mean, it's a serious situation.

00:41:40.000 But I said I'm going to your calls.

00:41:41.000 I apologize.

00:41:41.000 I'm all over the map here.

00:41:43.000 Let's go to Ron in Texas, who's military.

00:41:45.000 Ron, go ahead.

00:41:46.000 and Alex, how are you doing?

00:41:52.000 Well, I want to first thank you for bringing out that point of PTSD with the soldiers because I've done two tours in Iraq before I was medically retired and that is a very common problem with them.

00:42:04.000 In reference to your call list, I was with the 1st Cavalry Division when we deployed for Operation Southern Belt, which was to go in after Katrina.

00:42:15.000 I was with the 1-5 Cav Battalion.

00:42:21.000 Now, when we were there, we were stationed in the area of Algiers, commonly referred to Mardi Gras City because that's where they store all the Mardi Gras Mardi Gras floats and everything.

00:42:37.000 That was our area of operations.

00:42:41.000 We didn't conduct any weapon seizures for many of the individuals there, although we did ask if they had them.

00:42:49.000 We were not ordered by our higher commands to do any such seizures.

00:42:55.000 There were families who said that there were army units that were there, but from my understanding between us at First Cav and those of us that were with None of us that I can recall were even ordered to do that.

00:43:12.000 Well, I mean, certainly you've seen the mainstream TV reports where it shows the troops with police, but watching confiscating guns, but watching those videos carefully, it's the military backing up the police.

00:43:25.000 Yes sir I actually have.

00:43:34.000 And those videos actually were what was going on before we arrived.

00:43:41.000 We arrived probably about a week or two after most of that had happened.

00:43:46.000 Well, the word I get is the feds tried to order the guard and big army, as it's called, for those that don't know, regular army.

00:43:54.000 To do it and basically most of them said no and they just did some beta test with the military led by the FBI and local police in FEMA and they did do gun confiscation.

00:44:04.000 It was mainly police stopping cars of people leaving or coming in, taking guns, stopping boats, coming in with people that had guns, obviously to protect their property.

00:44:12.000 But, I mean, was there a larger debate going on with the troops?

00:44:17.000 Because that's the word we've gotten, and that's also in this Oath Keepers report, was that the troops basically openly said we're not going to be part of this.

00:44:24.000 I'm not I'll just speak for my unit itself.

00:44:30.000 As far as we were concerned, that was not a priority to us, because we felt that the individuals who were still there, in their homes, occupying it, needed some sort of security, because there was, and I'm going to call them the alphabet agencies, you know, and you'll know what I'm referring to.

00:44:48.000 They were going in there, doing operations, seizing weapons, supposedly going in, raiding so-called Drug houses and stuff like that.

00:44:58.000 We even walked by on a patrol that we were conducting an actual DEA operation.

00:45:05.000 We saw the guys suiting up and going into a house and we got about two blocks down.

00:45:09.000 They start throwing the flashbangs and going in.

00:45:12.000 We heard a couple of shots fired.

00:45:14.000 Next thing we know, we're hearing on our radio to avoid that area.

00:45:18.000 It was locked down.

00:45:19.000 Well, yeah, for the cover-up.

00:45:21.000 Well, at the time, I remember hearing about police shooting people trying to walk out on the highway, and then it was just a rumor.

00:45:27.000 The police have now been convicted and have gone to prison for that.

00:45:31.000 But the other word that never got completely confirmed was there was lots of killings going on, both of looters who deserved it, but also just of whoever the feds and police Yeah, that there was a lot of cover-up going on of the amount of people that were killed.

00:45:58.000 but I can probably say that there were a lot of questionable incidents, because we witnessed one particular incident with a police vehicle, and it was at night, pulled up to an abandoned pawn shop.

00:46:13.000 We were at this intersection conducting house-to-houses, searches for people that were still in the area, asking them if they're physically...

00:46:20.000 My good time is we were working on trying to get their...

00:46:23.000 basically each of these re-established.

00:46:26.000 And we were assessing the effect as far as, okay, are you getting electricity in your home yet?

00:46:31.000 Or is your structure...

00:46:33.000 Because I'm an engineer.

00:46:35.000 We would check the structures of the homeless stuff.

00:46:37.000 But while we were at this intersection, We noticed a police car pulls up to an abandoned pawn shop.

00:46:43.000 One officer, he was both, I'm gonna say he was an officer, he was dressed in uniform, gets out of the car, opens the trunk, pulls out what looked like a logging chain, wraps one end around a bumper and goes inside.

00:46:55.000 The driver was still in the car.

00:46:58.000 Next thing we know, he hits the throttle real hard, starts flying out of the parking lot, and lo and behold, a safe comes dragging out behind the police car.

00:47:10.000 So, you know, there's been instances of luck that's been questionable.

00:47:15.000 Well, that's why citizens have got to be armed, because in any collapse of society, they're going to have the low-level criminals, and then you're going to have, statistically, the number one threat, especially in a place like New Orleans, the police are going to be out there robbing.

00:47:29.000 And real police are going to be home with their families, or out there helping people, but the corrupt system is so bad that they never punish the bad cops, or rarely do, And so the bad cops rise up to the ranks.

00:47:41.000 Well, I mean, there was the footage of the Walmarts and the Targets and the grocery stores, you know, with the cops in there robbing everything.

00:47:50.000 And citizens reported that cops would pull up, order them to give them their guns.

00:47:54.000 The police didn't care about the flooded poor areas.

00:47:56.000 It was the wealthy areas.

00:47:57.000 For those that don't know about New Orleans that are up on the high ground, that's always been the valuable real estate.

00:48:32.000 as Because I was meant to be retired from 1st Cav.

00:48:35.000 As far as 1st Cav.'s mission has been concerned, it's mostly rotations in and out of Iraq.

00:48:48.000 However, we did have members from 1st Infantry, Big Red 1, that supposedly had been transferred to what would be considered the North Comps, our Northern Command.

00:49:20.000 But understand that not all of us in uniform are going to be the tyrants.
