01:43:44.000 The video was captured by two motion-activated cameras at the jail.

02:10:10.000 Because I find it rather fascinating, especially the debate that's going on within libertarian and Austrian economic circles right now.

02:10:21.000 Well, first of all, I think like everybody else, I like to see the development of something like Bitcoin.

02:10:27.000 I really like the idea of competing currencies.

02:10:30.000 And I think the people behind Bitcoin, of course, have the best intentions.

02:10:33.000 And lots of people that are getting into Bitcoin are getting into it for the right reasons.

02:10:37.000 It's not the dollar.

02:10:39.000 It's not the euro.

02:10:39.000 It's not the yen.

02:10:40.000 You know, it's not a government issued fiat currency.

02:10:42.000 Nevertheless, I have some problems with Bitcoin myself that other people in the hard money camp have.

02:10:48.000 First of all, Money comes to the market and merges on the market.

02:10:52.000 It isn't like someone just says, hey, this is money.

02:10:54.000 Let's start using it.

02:10:55.000 And I think that the reason that people are going into Bitcoin is exactly because of what it isn't.

02:11:01.000 It's not the dollar.

02:11:02.000 It's not the euro.

02:11:03.000 It's not the yen.

02:11:04.000 Whereas if we look at something like precious metals, the gold and silver, yeah, we can argue they don't have intrinsic value from a theoretical economic perspective and that's true nevertheless they have a 6,000 year history of being money of being desired for people of being desired by people people want the precious metals because of what they are and I really feel that bitcoin is sort of taking a lot of the interest that would be in the metals and and diverting it.

02:11:32.000 Like I said, that's great in the idea that it's a competing currency, but nevertheless, I don't think it's the competing currency that does have the ability to break this state's monopoly on the issuance of money.

02:11:45.000 Plus, they can use the unknown providence of this.

02:11:50.000 They can use the takedown of Bitcoin to then demonize and taint the idea of true independent cryptocurrencies.

02:11:57.000 That's all I'm saying is, this may not have a happy ending, and I'm not in some cult just saying it's perfect, we've got to bow down to it.

02:12:05.000 We've got to have some concerns.

02:12:07.000 Investing in anything, especially something brand new and speculative, is dangerous.

02:12:12.000 And you hit the nail on the head right there, Alex.

02:12:14.000 That is the problem with Bitcoin from a more macro level.

02:12:19.000 If we're introducing the idea of competing currencies and then one of these competing currencies ends up in a bubble, ends up with a lot of people putting a lot of money into it, Like I heard recently that, you know, folks are saying that Bitcoin could go to $100,000 a coin or even a million dollars a coin.

02:12:36.000 People are going to start getting into this thing because, wow, it's starting to shoot up in value.

02:12:39.000 I need to get into it before the train leaves the station.

02:12:42.000 And then all of a sudden the thing crashes.

02:12:45.000 Then the statists are going to say, see, we told you.

02:12:48.000 Money is way too important for the market to handle.

02:12:51.000 Only the government should be handling money.

02:12:53.000 And it will, as you say, demonize the entire idea of competing currencies.

02:13:00.000 Now, shifting gears out of that, let's look at the TSA, because your comments made national news, and I think more people should speak up.

02:13:08.000 The TSA's own internal documents that came out a few months ago admit they've never stopped a real terrorist.

02:13:14.000 Now they're running checkpoints on the highways and are becoming a federal police force.

02:13:18.000 What's your personal take on it, and what have been your experiences?

02:13:23.000 Well, the TSA, as an organization, as an agency, is in standing violation of the Fourth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which says that we should be free to go as we please.

02:13:34.000 There should not be unreasonable searches and seizures without due process of law, without a warrant being issued.

02:13:40.000 Showing up at an airport to get on a commercial airplane is not probable cause.

02:13:44.000 And what the TSA does, despite the fact that, again, you look at TSA agents as individuals and many of them, of course, are very decent people trying to do a good job, trying to do what they think is right.

02:13:57.000 Nevertheless, the organization itself is a means by which, you know, the government is basically getting into our business when it doesn't belong there.

02:14:06.000 The only contact that we should have with federal authorities is when we are in the process of committing a crime or we are thought to be about to commit a crime.

02:14:18.000 And that's about it.

02:14:20.000 And this idea that they should be questioning us, that, of course, with the NSA, that they should be listening to everything we do, that everything goes into a federal database, that they should just be in our business in general, as they are, is very dangerous to freedom.

02:14:36.000 And unfortunately, it is indicative of the fact that many Americans have traded their liberty for security, and we were warned against doing that by the Founding Fathers.

02:20:36.000 And I think for the population at large, that is the key is to at least expose people to a different paradigm, to show them that there is a red pill and we can't make them take it, but nevertheless, we can at least show them that the thing exists we can at least show them that the thing exists and that's a step in the right direction.

02:21:54.000 What has caused the explosion in the wealth gap that we've seen since the financial crisis in 2007-2008 is the fact that the Federal Reserve has pumped trillions of dollars out into the economy.

02:22:05.000 The middle class has not gotten it.

02:22:07.000 The people on Wall Street have gotten it.

02:22:08.000 They've used that to buy assets at lower prices, and then as more and more people, of course, buy the assets, those assets go up in price.

02:22:16.000 The free market actually It narrows the wealth gap because we can all produce in a way that we want to, and we can all become as big as we want to be.

02:24:57.000 So to me, that's the most important issue is the Federal Reserve.
