02:14:48.000 I work for a government agency, a local government agency.

02:14:52.000 I've been a wastewater treatment plant operator for about 11 years now, and I know quite a bit about this stuff.

02:15:03.000 We have the Great Lakes and all the inland lakes and the streams and everything, so we're pretty protective of our water.

02:15:12.000 We have about the same stringent regulations as California does.

02:15:22.000 I'm talking to you as an insider, giving you some information.

02:15:28.000 Kind of put my job on the line for this, but I'm going to tell you some stuff that I think is very important for the community over there in California.

02:15:40.000 Every community has a wastewater treatment plant, and there are two types.

02:15:45.000 There's a groundwater discharge and a surface water discharge.

02:15:51.000 Now, these are EPA regulated.

02:15:55.000 But they don't test for radiation.

02:16:00.000 They just do basic tests and, you know, if you're okay with your ammonia and your nitrates and your phosphorus, you're good to go.

02:16:13.000 But what I've been looking at with the radiation and, you know, I'm putting two and two together with this, and this is something I think the residents of California really need to understand, That the older cities have degrading infrastructures.

02:16:32.000 And what I mean by that is there's groundwater infiltration, there's surface water.

02:16:37.000 You're saying radon and other natural radiation is now because the pipes are all rotting and that it's leaching out.

02:16:47.000 You're thinking it's natural or what's the inside info?

02:16:51.000 I'm saying you have to look at the rain.

02:16:54.000 Getting into... Because a lot of these wastewater treatment plants are stormwater and sanitary combined, which means that if it rains and it gets into the stormwater system, where's that rain coming from?

02:17:22.000 It ends up being either in the groundwater as the end discharge, or surface water.

02:17:29.000 So you're saying that it's probably rain from Fukushima and other things coming down and running out to the ocean, and that's why it's radioactive?

02:17:46.000 And I think that because Because the wastewater discharge goes into, like I said, a stream or groundwater, and water treatment plants also have degrading pipes, so they also are receiving this stuff.

02:18:12.000 I mean, I don't think you could get in trouble for, just as a citizen, giving your perspective on something happening on the West Coast.
