00:01:37.000 When it was to their advantage, they allied themselves with the Ku Klux Klan.

00:01:42.000 Then, when it looked like things were going the other way, they abruptly did a 180.

00:01:47.000 And he was scoffed at and ridiculed by MSNBC and the Young Turks.

00:03:16.000 A poll this week showed that only 14% of the people supported Obamacare, thought that it was a good thing.

00:03:24.000 I mean, don't they understand how this is impacting their wages?

00:03:28.000 Don't they understand how it's making it difficult for them to get jobs?

00:03:31.000 People are cutting back the number of employees they have.

00:03:33.000 They're cutting them down to very low hours, less than full time, so they don't have to buy these Cadillac insurance plans.

00:03:40.000 And of course, there's just a news article today that said that only 10% of the uninsured have picked up on Obamacare.

00:03:48.000 Well, it's because they can't afford it.

00:03:50.000 The Affordable Care Act is not affordable.

00:03:52.000 Just like the Patriot Act from George Bush was not patriotic.

00:03:56.000 They always give it a title of exactly the opposite of what it is.

00:09:53.000 They were talking about how the Democrats Tried to portray everything, every disagreement as being racist.

00:10:00.000 And so Alex pointed out that really the Democrats have a very long history with the Ku Klux Klan and with racism.

00:10:08.000 And of course the mainstream liberal media like MSNBC and the Young Turks just howled in derision about that, scoffing at that.

00:10:16.000 Well, you know what?

00:10:17.000 We've got a documentary report about that coming out at the bottom of this hour from John Bowne.

00:10:22.000 And we're going to talk about that, break down the evidence, so we don't just make wild, crazy claims.

00:10:29.000 I grew up in the Deep South.

00:10:31.000 I grew up in Florida.

00:10:33.000 There was only one political party there, the Democrats.

00:10:36.000 The Ku Klux Klan was pretty strong in the Democrats.

00:10:39.000 Look at Robert Byrd out of West Virginia.

00:10:41.000 We've got Supreme Court Justices like Hugo Black, who was associated with them.

00:10:46.000 There's even associations with Harry Truman.

00:10:48.000 I mean, it just goes on and on.

00:10:50.000 You've got Democrat congressmen saying, you know, once you're a Klan, once you're a Ku Klux, you're always a Ku Klux.

00:10:57.000 I mean, it just, there's a lot of evidence there.

00:11:00.000 It's not being made up.

00:11:02.000 It's actually a fact.

00:11:02.000 We've got that broken down in a report by John Bowne at the bottom of the hour, so you're going to want to catch that.

00:11:08.000 Now, there's a lot of breaking news.

00:11:09.000 We had a story yesterday that was picked up on Drudge Report about the Obamacare.

00:11:14.000 Surcharges being put on by a lot of restaurants across the country.

00:11:18.000 You know, only 14% of the people think that Obamacare is a good thing.

00:11:21.000 Now, obviously, those 14% of the people don't understand how it's affecting employment.

00:11:27.000 They don't understand how people are getting part-time jobs because the employers can't afford to put them on these Cadillac insurance policies.

00:11:34.000 And they're not even part-time in the sense that we've thought of part-time.

00:11:38.000 Obama redefined a full-time job as being 30 hours, not 40 hours.

00:11:42.000 So they're having to cut people's hours down to, say, maybe 20 hours a week.

00:11:46.000 So if you're a working poor person, you've got to get multiple jobs just to get enough money to survive.

00:11:53.000 That makes it very difficult.

00:11:54.000 You've got to juggle schedules between different employers.

00:11:56.000 Maybe you can do that, maybe you can't.

00:11:58.000 But evidently, these 14% of the people don't understand or don't care about that.

00:12:02.000 Maybe they don't understand that employers can't afford to just swallow those costs.

00:12:08.000 Now what you're seeing is, and maybe they'll understand this, when they see a surcharge on their pizza bill, and they see that that's from the Affordable Care Act, is making their pizza less affordable, maybe that will get their attention.

00:12:21.000 In this story from Don Salazar that was up yesterday, he points out that a pizza shop in Denver is adding a 5% charge to customers' bills in order to pay for half Half of the health care costs of their employees, both full and part-time.

00:12:36.000 5% surcharge to just pay for half of the Affordable Care Act.

00:12:42.000 There's another restaurant chain in Florida adding a 1% surcharge right now to customers' bills.

00:12:47.000 Now this is even before it's gone into effect, but they're pointing out that they still have costs of compliance and they're trying to get this, they're breaking this out separately.

00:12:58.000 People are complaining about that, but you know, we see that happen all the time with public utility companies.

00:13:03.000 They're constantly breaking out.

00:13:05.000 When you look at your bill, there's a lot of breakouts for additional surcharges that get mandated by the government.

00:13:10.000 And of course, the Supreme Court said that Obamacare was a tax.

00:13:13.000 It's a valid thing to break that out, just like it's a valid thing to break out a sales tax.

00:13:18.000 Now, there's been a lot of news about Bitcoin.

00:13:21.000 We've had a Bitcoin conference here in Austin.

00:13:25.000 And we've had Stefan Molyneux as well as Ben Swan who were at the conference.

00:13:29.000 They were in studio the last couple of days.

00:13:31.000 We've had very interesting interviews with them.

00:13:33.000 Alex talked to them here on the radio show.

00:13:36.000 We had interviews with them on the Nightly News and we aired the one from Stefan Molyneux last night on the Nightly News.

00:13:42.000 We will be airing the one with Ben Swan later.

00:13:46.000 But now there's some interesting news.

00:13:48.000 Bitcoin has been in the news a lot, of course.

00:13:50.000 With Mt.

00:13:50.000 Gox, the largest exchange, declaring bankruptcy, a lot of people are questioning it.

00:13:55.000 And then this week, it kind of doubled down.

00:13:57.000 We had a couple more exchanges go out of business.

00:13:58.000 We had Flexcoin that lost $620,000 and they shut their doors.

00:14:04.000 We had Poloniex that lost another 12% of their users' coins.

00:14:08.000 And now we've got some news about the creator of Bitcoin.

00:14:13.000 But before I go to that, let me backtrack here just a little bit and talk about FlexCoin and Polonex because this is one of the comments that both Stefan Molyneux and Ben Swan had.

00:14:24.000 They were saying that it's a good thing when bad actors like Mt.

00:14:28.000 Gox or people who don't handle the money well go out of business.

00:14:32.000 We don't see that.

00:14:33.000 In the fiat banking system, the Federal Reserve, we have banks that are too large to fail.

00:14:38.000 They're not allowed to fail.

00:14:39.000 Instead, they just keep going and going and going, these zombie banks, and they're bailed out by the public.

00:14:44.000 That's not a good thing.

00:14:45.000 In a free market, you're going to have failures.

00:14:47.000 In a free market, people are going to lose money.

00:14:49.000 It's a caveat emptor type of thing.

00:14:52.000 And I agree with that.

00:14:53.000 I think that is a good thing to a degree.

00:14:57.000 But I think for Bitcoin to move forward, They've got a lot of trust to build.

00:15:04.000 See, there's FDIC insurance that makes people feel good about putting their money in the bank, and of course we've already seen that banks are starting to arbitrarily say, I'm sorry, you can't withdraw that amount of money.

00:15:14.000 We're going to put a limit on you.

00:15:15.000 You can't take out all of your money at once.

00:15:18.000 Now these are demand deposits.

00:15:19.000 That's why we call them demand deposits.

00:15:22.000 You should be able to get your money out right away, but we've seen some of the bigger banks start to enact What we believe is the beginning of currency control.

00:15:29.000 So there's a lot of risk with that.

00:15:30.000 But in general, people have felt safe because they've had FDIC insurance.

00:15:36.000 There is no insurance in Bitcoin.

00:15:38.000 Bitcoin has a lot of the benefits as well as the risks of cash.

00:15:43.000 You've got the anonymity, and we all like that.

00:15:45.000 You've got the transportability.

00:15:46.000 You can hold it yourself, essentially, if you don't put it in these exchanges that seem to be a bit dodgy.

00:15:51.000 But then you don't have any insurance.

00:15:53.000 So what they've got before them, if they want to keep this cryptocurrency going, and I hope they do, because one of the reasons that we like Stefan Milano and Ben Swan like this, I like it because the idea of it, because we want to see an alternative currency that can be Independent and apart from the manipulations of the central banks.

00:16:14.000 And we want to see something that's going to protect people's privacy.

00:16:17.000 So if we want to see this succeed, what these different Bitcoin people are going to have to do is they're going to have to educate the public.

00:16:24.000 And even though they can't insure these Bitcoins, they're going to have to usher us that they're safe.

00:16:29.000 That there's some way that they have of tracking this.

00:16:32.000 What happened with both Flexcoin and Polonex is Not a failure of Bitcoin per se, just like Mt.

00:16:38.000 Gox was not necessarily a failure of Bitcoin.

00:16:40.000 A lot of people are pointing, I don't know the details of that, but in this article, what they pointed out with Flexcoin, for example, was that someone successfully exploited a flaw in the code that would allow transfers between Flexcoin users.

00:16:53.000 See, that's a very different thing than a fundamental flaw in Bitcoin architecture.

00:16:58.000 So, what they did was they looked at what was happening within Flexcoin, where people were transferring money back and forth to themselves, and they started moving coins back and forth, exploiting this flaw.

00:17:09.000 A similar thing happened with Polonex.

00:17:12.000 A hacker discovered that if they placed several withdrawals, all in practically the same instant, that they would get processed more or less at the same time, even though they would get a negative balance, the Polonex Withdrawal Demon was not looking at that negative balance and so they were able to pull out a lot of coins using that exploit.

00:17:31.000 So that's something you always have to worry about.

00:17:33.000 You always have to worry about as well the fact that it's got a small market cap.

00:17:38.000 When we look at what the government and the central banks have done to manipulate the price of gold, for example, we know that they're manipulating the price of gold.

00:17:46.000 We know that the Hunt brothers manipulated the price of silver, tried to corner that market.

00:17:52.000 We know that George Soros essentially broke the Bank of England.

00:17:55.000 So, it's such a small market cap that you could have one rogue billionaire, like a George Soros, that could play games with the value of Bitcoin.

00:18:05.000 We also know That we've got an agency like the NSA that loves to break codes.

00:18:11.000 They live for that.

00:18:12.000 They're very, very good at it.

00:18:15.000 And as William Binney said when I was talking to him about secure email, about Bitcoin, he said, there's no code that we can't break.

00:18:22.000 It's just a matter of time.

00:18:23.000 And of course, people will respond to their code breaking with other codes.

00:18:26.000 So as he pointed out, it's a back and forth game, but it's constantly evolving.

00:18:30.000 There isn't any code that they can't break.

00:18:32.000 And so now with the story that we have today, We see that the alleged Bitcoin founder, his name is Satoshi Nakamoto.

00:18:39.000 Did classified work for the US military?

00:18:41.000 So this raises some interesting questions.

00:18:45.000 He said, when he was caught by Newsweek, he said, I'm no longer involved in that and I cannot discuss it.

00:18:51.000 It's been turned over to other people.

00:18:52.000 They're now in charge of it and I no longer have any connection.

00:18:55.000 But then later, he said, told the Associated Press, it sounded like I was involved before Bitcoin and looks like I'm not involved now.

00:19:02.000 That's not what I meant.

00:19:03.000 I want to clarify that. 0.98

00:19:04.000 Well, he didn't really clarify it, but his brother, He said that, said of him, my brother is an a-hole.

00:19:11.000 What you don't know about him is that he's working on classified stuff.

00:19:14.000 His life was a complete blank for a while.

00:19:17.000 You're not going to be able to get to him.

00:19:19.000 He'll deny everything.

00:19:20.000 He'll never admit to starting Bitcoin.

00:19:23.000 And he did classified work for major corporations and the U.S.

00:19:26.000 military, according to this report from Newsweek.

00:19:30.000 And so the question that some people are asking is, is he working for the government?

00:19:34.000 Did they create Bitcoin as some kind of a backdoor way to grab people, to try to push people to a digital currency?

00:19:42.000 I don't know.

00:19:44.000 What I do know is that DARPA started the Internet.

00:19:46.000 And even though DARPA started the Internet, we could take it in our own direction.

00:19:51.000 And it's a constant fight.

00:19:52.000 Just like William Binney said, you're never there.

00:26:10.000 As they're pointing out, this one person reported and said, the largest wholesale gun and ammo distributors in the U.S.

00:37:40.000 Again, MSNBC and the Young Turks are laughing at the idea that there was ever any connection between the Democrats and the Ku Klux Klan.

00:37:49.000 I mean, Alex Jones may sound crazy, but still has 300 million YouTube... Well, he has 300 million people that have watched him on YouTube, and that sort of fringe, arch-conservative, deeply, I think, racist strain is being tapped into at crazy profit by people in the media.

00:38:08.000 Well, it is.

00:38:08.000 The Democrats have been on the offensive for far too long, deeming any who oppose their views as racist.

00:38:15.000 But many people don't realize that it was the Republican Party that spearheaded the abolition movement, beginning with Democratic Republican Party member Thomas Jefferson.

00:38:26.000 Yes, Jefferson was a slaveholder, but he included bold anti-slavery language in the original draft of the Declaration of Independence that was removed.

00:38:37.000 As president on March 2nd, 1807, Jefferson signed the Act Prohibiting Importation of Slaves, This act took effect in 1808 and was the earliest allowed under the Constitution.

00:38:49.000 In 1863 Republican President Abraham Lincoln issued the Emancipation Proclamation which freed slaves held in the Confederate States.

00:38:58.000 The 13th Amendment to the United States Constitution took effect in December 1865 And finally ended slavery throughout the United States.

00:39:08.000 That year, the Ku Klux Klan was founded.

00:39:11.000 Historian Eric Foner observed that basically, the Klan was the military muscle behind the agenda of the Democratic Party.

00:39:18.000 The plantation owner class. 0.87

00:39:20.000 And all those truly afflicted with a mental disorder that is racism.

00:39:24.000 The Klan's purposes were to reverse the interlocking changes sweeping over the South during Reconstruction. 0.50

00:40:13.000 White Democrats cast the full vote of that parish for Republican Ulysses S. Grant's opponent.

00:40:24.000 13 captives were taken from jail and shot.

00:46:43.000 There was an article that was in New American today about the Oklahoma House votes to protect property rights from the feds and from the UN.

00:46:53.000 This is where I think our bigger hope is going to come, is at the state level and at the individual level where we take responsibility for things, where we understand our role as jurors, our role as citizens, where we stand up for those rights.

00:47:05.000 But that's an educational issue.

00:47:06.000 That's an information war issue.

00:47:08.000 But let's take a look at what the Oklahoma House of Representatives just did.

00:47:12.000 66 in favor, 26 against.

00:47:14.000 They passed the Oklahoma Community Protection Act that would nullify Agenda 21 and other outside assaults on individual rights in the state, specifically property rights.

00:47:25.000 And this is what one of the key sponsors, Oklahoma Representative Mike Ritz, said.

00:47:29.000 He said it's very important for states to reassert their sovereignty and to protect the rights of citizens from intrusive and oppressive measures that are coming down from the federal government, even from international organizations like the UN.

00:47:43.000 And we understand too that the UN Agenda 21 is something that is typically enacted at the local level.

00:47:49.000 And so it's important that this bill has protections against eminent domain confiscation.

00:47:56.000 It would put stiff penalties for violations of citizens' property rights by officials would nullify any anti-constitutional federal or international infringements on private property, It would protect property from being acquired by eminent domain because that's really where UN Agenda 21 is being enacted.

00:48:12.000 It was an agenda.

00:48:13.000 It was created by the UN.

00:48:15.000 It was a pattern, a template.

00:48:17.000 But the way that it's being implemented is locally.

00:48:21.000 And so they're going to protect people from arbitrary eminent domain.

00:48:24.000 He points out in the article, and this is interesting, of course, the bill was less than three pages long.

00:48:29.000 If you get a thousand page bill, somebody is trying to hoodwink you.

00:48:33.000 The Bill of Rights could be printed on a single page.

00:48:35.000 So this is three pages long.

00:48:37.000 Makes it clear what's going to happen.

00:48:39.000 And listen, it's got some teeth in it. 0.83

00:48:40.000 Damages shall be awarded in favor of the property owner at an amount not less than 10 times the property value as assessed in the previous year by the county assessor.

00:48:50.000 So if they come in and take your property, you're going to get 10 times what it was last assessed at.

00:48:54.000 We need to see things like that happening at the state level.

00:48:58.000 We need to see people getting involved.

00:48:59.000 But it's also important to pay attention at the national level.

00:49:03.000 Because we need to go on the offensive and try to take back Washington, which has been totally co-opted by corrupt international globalists.

00:49:11.000 So it's interesting to watch what these people are saying.

00:49:13.000 Now, Marco Rubio spoke at CPAC and he said, essentially, that we need to be the world's policemen.

00:49:19.000 He's taking up the neocon banner. 0.55

00:49:23.000 And also, this is a guy who has taken up the banner for open immigration and amnesty.

00:49:29.000 Why is it that Rubio is taking such unpopular opinions?

01:01:48.000 I mean even Mike Lee's speech, I saw a bit of it today, seemed more More towards a party line than a real liberty-minded speech.

01:01:58.000 You know, Donald Trump, you hear him speak, and this man, if you follow his money, he's donated to the Democratic Party in the past, including money to Rahm Emanuel here in Chicago.

01:02:10.000 So I really hope that Rand Paul really shines.

01:02:13.000 If you look at the straw poll results from years past with Rand Paul winning the last few years, when I covered it in 2012, literally CPAC did their best to try to squash That's right.

01:02:24.000 libertarian revolution that was going on at that time with momentum Ron Paul was gaining.

01:02:30.000 I'm not sure how it's going, how it is this year, but with the speeches, you can tell they're trying to toe the party line.

01:02:37.000 But from what I observed at CPAC, what the real impact for a libertarian-minded person going there is to talk with the people.

01:02:47.000 For the most part, the people at CPAC, these conservatives that watch Fox News daily, they're good people.

01:02:54.000 They're decent people, but they're being strayed in the wrong direction, being strayed towards that neocon line.

01:03:01.000 But the libertarian-minded people, from what I saw, have done a great job in talking with the people, having civil debates.

01:03:08.000 You know, getting people to discuss NDAA from when I was there in 2012.

01:03:12.000 And I hope that this year they're talking about the IRS, and they're talking about intervention, and they're talking about the Federal Reserve, and that's where the impact of CPAC comes.

01:03:28.000 I know at CPAC they're having a panel about, can libertarians and conservatives get along.

01:03:33.000 So they're trying to sway the minds of those people at CPAC.

01:12:19.000 A lot of people still get their news from broadcast television, from newspapers, but clearly that's changing.

01:12:25.000 I would think ten years from now some of the thought leaders that, I mean, I don't think there will be an NBC Nightly News ten years from now.

01:12:30.000 I don't think there will be a Washington Post.

01:12:32.000 That's all pretty obvious.

01:12:33.000 I think five years from now they'll be.

01:12:38.000 Who is the original alternative media?

01:12:40.000 Somebody like Matt Drudge?

01:12:43.000 I knew Drudge right at the beginning in 97, 98 when he first started.

01:12:48.000 And I'll admit, because I'm not a visionary, I kind of mocked him too, though I thought he was ballsy, which I always have admired in anybody.

01:12:55.000 Anyone who's brave, even if I disagree, I admire.

01:12:58.000 And he was willing to give the finger to everybody who had power at the time.

01:13:02.000 I remember going to a speech he gave at the National Press Club in 98.

01:13:05.000 I was in the press pit, all these reporters covering this, and he basically said, you're all going away, you'll all be unemployed, you're obsolete, and I am the future.

01:13:13.000 And people scoffed.

01:13:15.000 And I kind of scoffed, because the herd instinct takes over, but then part of me was thinking, you know, he's probably right.

01:13:20.000 And of course he was right.

01:13:22.000 All I knew as a radio talk show host back in 1996, when I was first on local radio, is I went to Drudge, and that's where I could see all the interesting stories every day for my radio show, and I could visit 15 other websites and not get half as much interesting stuff.

01:13:36.000 I think he just has a pulse for not what he thinks is interesting, but what the public's going to think is interesting.

01:13:41.000 Totally right.

01:13:42.000 At the core, look, the people who succeed are talented, by and large.

01:13:46.000 It's one thing, you know, it's pretty easy to make a splash, you can get famous, it doesn't take that much.

01:13:51.000 But to endure, to keep a successful career going, you've got to be talented.

01:13:55.000 And I think Drudge is really talented.

01:13:57.000 He listens to his own internal soundtracks.

01:14:00.000 And he also ideologically really is a patriot liberty guy.

01:14:04.000 So that's the driving force.

01:14:05.000 And by the way, he was on This whole surveillance question really early, and people dismissed him as paranoid, you know, they're watching you, there are cameras everywhere.

01:14:14.000 They're gonna have clones, they're... Exactly.

01:14:16.000 All of it, you know.

01:14:17.000 And of course it turns out, a lot of it's true.

01:14:20.000 You know, like all the people in the 23 years I've been in the media, every week I get a letter usually written in crayon on the outside of the envelope saying, they're watching me! 0.98

01:14:30.000 Then it turns out, they're right!

01:14:33.000 Well, that was my next point, is that as radical as a lot of the things I cover are, unfortunately so much of it's now turning out to be true.

01:14:41.000 I think, despite all my political warts or whatever, that's why my show gets bigger and bigger exponentially, is because people are really losing confidence in the system.

01:14:50.000 And I think the fall of Piers Morgan, because he never really I had ratings to begin with, but he began to just fall from the beginning. 0.70

01:14:58.000 Shows a rejection of globalism, a rejection of elitism, and really some of that East Coast snobby anti-liberty garbage.

01:15:52.000 Without that, you know, you really don't have... The revolution started when they came to take the guns.

01:15:57.000 So if you don't understand the Second Amendment, maybe you're uncomfortable with it, maybe you don't like guns personally.

01:16:03.000 But even if you don't, you recognize, if you were born in this country, that it's like not this random thing the founders kind of threw in there.

01:18:38.000 You'd think they would stand up as one and say, whoa, No.

01:18:41.000 We reserve the right to write the laws like that's what the Constitution says.

01:18:47.000 The Democrats are passive because it's their party and they will do whatever the president asks.

01:18:51.000 But Republicans have been weirdly passive on that and I'm not really sure why.

01:18:55.000 Well, I think it's because you've got a lot of offshore interests that basically have diplomatic immunity and they don't need a free market.

01:19:01.000 They can just control government and get the corporate welfare and the insider deals and create a monopoly system.

01:19:07.000 I think that's really what the left and right haven't woken up to is that more and more it's a rigged game.

01:19:19.000 If I could pass a law requiring everyone to read the Daily Caller every day, I'd like to think I wouldn't pass the law, but I'd be sorely tempted.

01:25:32.000 But it seems like human nature for most people moves in that direction.

01:25:36.000 I would rather take care of myself, I would rather have Freedom than security.

01:25:41.000 I'm willing to take risks in exchange for the ability to make my own decisions.

01:25:44.000 But most people, it seems like, aren't.

01:25:46.000 I feel like we're moving away from that.

01:25:48.000 So you don't think there's an awakening happening?

01:25:50.000 I think there's a great dissatisfaction.

01:25:52.000 I think people are disgusted with their leaders.

01:25:54.000 But I don't see people jumping up and saying, I want to take responsibility for my own life.

01:26:03.000 No, I see the point you're making is that People can claim that there's a rise in libertarianism in polls.

01:26:15.000 The first part is I get to do whatever I want, and the second part is you get to do whatever you want, as long as we don't hurt each other.

01:26:21.000 People buy into the first one completely.

01:26:24.000 I want to marry whoever I want! 0.97

01:26:25.000 They're all about that.

01:26:26.000 They're very libertarian when it comes to them and their choices.

01:26:39.000 And most people are unwilling to resist the temptation to control other people.

01:26:43.000 And that's just human nature, but it's very distressing, and libertarians have to be honest about that.

01:26:47.000 So where do you see it going, then?

01:26:49.000 The future of the media, government?

01:26:51.000 Look internationally.

01:26:53.000 I am amazed by the number of countries... Look, the bottom line is I don't know.

01:26:56.000 I'm just a journalist.

01:26:56.000 I'm not any kind of prophet.

01:26:58.000 But, internationally, I'm very struck by the move from democracy and freedom toward reverting back to authoritarian systems.

01:27:06.000 Look at Venezuela, for example, which was sort of a, you know, emerging kind of free market world.

01:27:11.000 Now we're back to Chavez and he's gone, but Chavezism.

01:27:14.000 Look at Nicaragua.

01:27:15.000 Was communist.

01:27:16.000 They had a brief experiment with liberal democracy under Villareal.

01:27:19.000 Daniel Ortega, the head of the Sandinista Party, is president again.

01:27:22.000 You're seeing this same pattern replayed.

01:27:25.000 Let me ask you one quick question.

01:27:27.000 15 years ago, 12 years ago, when Bush said, we're going to bring democracy to the world, the world needs democracy.

01:27:31.000 How many people believe that still?

01:27:32.000 How many people would like to see democracy in Saudi Arabia or Jordan?

01:27:36.000 Nobody would.

01:27:36.000 We're actually happy that they have authoritarian governments.

01:27:39.000 We don't want their people to vote and be free, because it would be against our interests. 0.99

01:27:42.000 I guess you do have a point, is that a lot of people say I'm libertarian, and there's an awakening and a dissatisfaction with the government, but it's almost like a double-minded paradox, because then people are more accepting of Big Brother, of police state, of authoritarianism than ever.

01:27:59.000 It's boiling the frog.

01:28:00.000 You know, you throw the frog into boiling water, he jumps out, if you turn it up slowly, he doesn't notice until it's too late.

01:28:05.000 I'm not an apocalyptic guy at all, but I am really bothered by the willingness of most people to accept these restrictions on their freedom in the name of security.

01:28:15.000 I mean, I wish I could... I think I'm just speaking for myself when I say, I'm happy to take the risk.

01:28:19.000 You know, in exchange for, like, keeping my shoes on at the airport.

01:28:22.000 I'm really bothered by that.

01:28:24.000 Well, history's shown, when you give up liberty, you don't get security, you get oppression and tyranny.

01:28:28.000 You become a slave.

01:28:28.000 You don't get it back.

01:28:30.000 Yeah, and I try not to.

01:28:31.000 I don't want to be, like, one of these guys, or, you know, overstating things, but I am really bothered by it.

01:28:36.000 Well, we are definitely going into a police state, and like you said, it's a movement worldwide.

01:28:40.000 Speaking of attempts to censor the press, the Pentagon announced three months ago, I don't know if you saw this report, Drudge carried our report on, but it was just their hour-long press conference, where the Undersecretary of Defense sat up there and said, we've lost the hearts and minds of the American people.

01:28:59.000 They don't believe the government and the media anymore.

01:29:01.000 So our answer is we're going to start telling the truth by going out and engaging blogs and alternative media domestically.

01:29:09.000 We can no longer rely on relationships with a handful of journalists.

01:29:13.000 A new blogger might end up being more influential than traditional outlets in some cases.

01:29:19.000 If we aren't talking to him or her, we are missing a potential opportunity to inform the American people.

01:36:15.000 Well, what was so striking was when that came out, I think of myself as a completely mainstream person, when that came out my instinct was outrage.

01:36:22.000 I can't believe that the NSA has the ability to read all of my emails, capture all of my Google searches, listen to my phone calls if it chooses, pick up my texts.

01:36:31.000 The first thing, I'll never forget this, was the Republican leadership, not all the Republicans in Congress, but the leadership, you know, Boehner, Cantor, Mike Rogers, head of the Intel Committee, they instantly went to the President's aide, and I remember thinking, well, who represents me?

01:36:46.000 So it's a big club, as George Carlin would say, and we ain't in it.

01:36:51.000 And they're destroying the rest of the economy and our future at the expense of the general welfare for their club to stay intact when they're not good managers.

01:38:04.000 So they're afraid that if they repeal it, they'll take the blame.

01:38:18.000 So it's a bunch of different groups, some of which are legitimate, others are just fundraising operations to enrich the people running them.

01:38:28.000 Without that cohesion, without that leadership, without a clear template for what they believe, a statement of belief, they're not as effective.

01:39:37.000 The gun control thing, by the way, people all of whom have armored bodyguards, So, again, I'm not romanticizing the Tea Party, and I know it's a diverse group, but the establishment's attacking it.
