02:45:16.000 You could get a decent... I walked on onto a brokerage firm in 1983, got a job on the spot.

02:45:22.000 And became very, very successful pretty quickly without any training in that field whatsoever because the opportunities were there.

02:45:30.000 There were many firms on Wall Street.

02:45:32.000 Now they've all been either gone bankrupt or been taken over.

02:45:35.000 Now you only have two or three firms on Wall Street.

02:45:39.000 There's, I mean, Merrill Lynch has now been taken over.

02:45:40.000 I was talking to a well-known former owner of a large brokerage company that managed billions, and he just said, you know, about six months before 2008, he sold it all, got out, And he said because the writing was already on the wall that the regulators would shut you down even if you followed all the rules because they were run by the big three brokerage houses that were consolidating.

02:46:02.000 And it's a mafia.

02:46:03.000 There's huge barriers to entry, and it's all corny capitalism.

02:46:06.000 So, you know, when I was working on Wall Street in the early 80s, there was stories of shoeshine boys who got their brokerage license and became incredibly successful.

02:46:16.000 You never hear about stories like that anymore because all those avenues toward progress have been completely shut down now.

02:46:21.000 It's now a closed shop.

02:46:23.000 It's the way it was back in the 50s and 60s where it was the old boys, and it was all very controlled.

02:46:31.000 When the Fed prints $100 billion, you know, a trillion dollars, it's distributed through the primary dealer systems.

02:46:42.000 There's, I think, 18 primary dealers.

02:46:44.000 They're on Wall Street.

02:46:45.000 They're big names that you would be familiar with.

02:46:47.000 They're the ones that get the money first.

02:46:49.000 And then their job is to distribute the money by reselling the bonds and reselling securities.

02:46:55.000 So if you have a job at one of those groups, one of those firms, and there's only a few where you can get it.

02:46:59.000 They're more institutional oriented.

02:47:00.000 They're not retail oriented.

02:47:02.000 But if you're working inside one of those firms, you're literally given, you walk into the office every day and the government gives you a million bucks.

02:47:09.000 they say, can you resell this million bucks and keep, you know, keep 50, 60,000 bucks for yourself, and we're going to do this every single day for the next five years.
