02:21:18.000 I said, Ron Reagan reduced taxes, but he didn't reduce the spending of the federal government as well.

02:22:59.000 If you do it right, it's one of the things I very quietly did while I was in Downing Street, it was so that we were making these massive cuts and people didn't even miss the fact that we were no longer spending things.

02:23:12.000 If you're going to cut taxes, as we did under Margaret Thatcher, you must also cut the spending of the federal government.

02:23:20.000 And this is where I slightly worry that Trump is saying we can do it all from the supply side.

02:23:25.000 We can just allow lots of money into the economy and hope that everything takes off and then the greater tax revenues will bail us out.

02:23:36.000 That has never worked.

02:23:38.000 It never will work.

02:23:39.000 You can buck many trends, as he has, but you can't buck that one.

02:23:43.000 Sure, the worry is he's going to try to hold it the same.

02:23:45.000 What about holding it the same?

02:23:51.000 Well, if he held spending the same as it is now, America is just going to go under.

02:25:40.000 Sell it off big time in a series of phased sales to put the land back in the hands of the people and the money back in the treasury to pay off the massive debt that Obama ran up.

02:54:28.000 So what Trump has always been good at, as every successful businessman has to be good at, is bringing good people into work.

02:57:30.000 More and more county prosecutors try to hide that, but that is a common law remedy.

02:57:34.000 Well, if that is your right, then I think there's a number of things.

02:57:38.000 I don't know whether you've come across the case of Mr. Finnegan, who was, I think, murdered by the FBI.

02:57:51.000 I was asked to look into it, and I have looked into it, and so far, I am minded to set up an international commission to examine what happened on that day, because there are some very clear gaps in the official testimony.

03:33:32.000 I'm David Knight and in this segment I want to look at some of the reactions that we see from the people on the left and I think that was a very good Editorial that came out of Lew Rockwell talking about the leftist love affair with Hamilton.

03:33:46.000 But before I do, I want to go back to what Steve Bannon was saying in terms of establishing a new political movement.

03:33:55.000 He compares it to Andrew Jackson's populism.

03:33:58.000 He says, we're going to do that.

03:33:59.000 He says, if we deliver, we're going to have a new popular political movement that is going to govern for 50 years.

03:34:07.000 But there's a catch there that I think is very dangerous.

03:34:09.000 And I agree with Steve Bannon and I agree with Donald Trump on these key issues.

03:34:13.000 I think we have to be careful about some of the details.

03:34:15.000 There's a huge detail.

03:34:17.000 The trillion-dollar infrastructure plan.

03:34:19.000 He said, I'm the guy pushing the infrastructure plan.

03:34:21.000 And he makes a case that with negative interest rates throughout the world, it's a great opportunity to build everything.

03:34:27.000 The problem is that we have to be very careful when we do things that are unconstitutional.

03:34:32.000 And I know it's been accepted for a long time that it is the It is within the realm of legality for the federal government to build our infrastructure.

03:34:43.000 I challenge that.

03:34:44.000 I don't think that is true.

03:34:45.000 I don't find that in the Constitution, except with an expansive living document kind of reading of the Constitution.

03:34:54.000 You know, we the people, you know, we have the right to govern, the fact that for the General Welfare Clause, that type of thing.

03:35:03.000 No, that's not what that was about.

03:35:05.000 Take a small phrase like that, a two-word phrase, and expand that into things like a commerce department that we don't need.

03:35:13.000 I'm hoping that some of these departments are going to be shut down.

03:35:17.000 And we're going to talk about how Washington is actually freaking out about the fact that Trump has a plan for government workers, and they're not going to like it.

03:35:26.000 They're making moves now as to what they can do to not only do attrition, but perhaps to shut down departments.

03:35:32.000 And I certainly hope that happens.

03:35:34.000 When Reagan came in, the Department of Education had just been created by Jimmy Carter.

03:35:39.000 It was less than four years old.

03:35:40.000 He had an opportunity to kill it, but instead, he grew it.

03:35:43.000 And we've talked about this many times.

03:35:44.000 People need to understand that lost opportunity.

03:35:47.000 We have another opportunity like that right now.

03:35:49.000 We need to get rid of some of these departments, like the Commerce Department, like the Department of Education itself.

03:35:55.000 It isn't any more constitutional now than it was when Jimmy Carter created it.

03:35:59.000 The federal government should not be telling us how we're going to educate our children.

03:36:03.000 But of course they insinuate themselves into our lives by printing up money in the Federal Reserve and then handing it out to us with strings attached.

03:36:11.000 That's how they control our lives.

03:36:13.000 And so we need to, that would be the greatest revolution of all.

03:36:16.000 The thing I'm concerned about is this trillion-dollar infrastructure when we go back and look at the no-bid Halliburton contracts in Iraq that happened.

03:36:23.000 There was just an article that came out last week.

03:36:26.000 85 million dollars for infrastructure in Afghanistan.

03:36:29.000 Where'd the money go?

03:36:30.000 Nothing was ever built.

03:36:31.000 We've seen this happen over and over again.

03:36:33.000 The bridge to nowhere in Alaska.

03:36:35.000 Here in Texas, we have a Spanish company came in and did a toll road and now they're bankrupt.

03:36:40.000 They're trying to do the same thing in North Carolina.

03:36:42.000 They're trying to do the same thing again in Texas with a Japanese company, trying to build a high-speed rail between Dallas and Houston.

03:36:49.000 And of course, that involves eminent domain by a foreign corporation on not a single path, but on multiple possible paths.

03:36:57.000 They want to take people's property, give the power to this foreign corporation to take people's property on multiple paths. 0.93

03:37:03.000 That's the downside.

03:37:05.000 Of handing this over in a public-private partnership that they talked about, creating toll roads that nobody wants.

03:37:12.000 So that right there could kill the legacy that I hope they do create.

03:37:17.000 I hope they do build a new governing coalition for 50 years.

03:37:20.000 But if they get involved in crony capitalism, if they put a trillion dollars in Washington to be handed out, I don't think that they can do it And not get involved in crony capitalism and corruption.

03:37:32.000 You are inviting corruption.

03:37:34.000 It's a very dangerous thing to put that money at the center.

03:37:37.000 It's the wrong thing to do it from a pragmatic standpoint.

03:37:39.000 These decisions need to be made by the people in the communities where they're going to borrow the money and spend it.

03:37:44.000 We could borrow the money with negative interest rates very cheaply at the state and local level to do these kind of projects.

03:37:49.000 We should determine that.

03:37:49.000 We should determine how much we want to do of it instead of letting that be done by Washington.

03:37:54.000 They're not smarter in Washington. 0.91

03:37:56.000 They're just more corrupt.

03:37:57.000 And when we talk about campaign finance reform, the liberals always want to attack this from the wrong end.

03:38:02.000 They always want to put limitations on people's spending to limit their free speech during a political campaign.

03:38:07.000 But the problem is, when you put things like a trillion dollar infrastructure in Washington, Then that puts money and power there that is going to invite corruption.

03:38:17.000 It is like a black hole for the worst elements of society and multinational corporations to come in and grab that money, grab that power in Washington.

03:38:26.000 That I think is a very dangerous thing that we have to guard against.

03:38:29.000 But I think it's very interesting when he talks about his vision.

03:38:34.000 The last thing that Steve Bannon says in this article, he says, I am, he says with relish, Thomas Cromwell in the court of the Tudors.

03:38:44.000 And of course, he's talking about the English Reformation.

03:38:47.000 And I think that's a very interesting way for him to look at this.

03:38:50.000 And I really do wish them well.

03:38:52.000 I think he's a thinker.

03:38:53.000 If he's looking at this, he understands how significant that was.

03:38:58.000 Because it wasn't just a reformation from a religious standpoint.

03:39:02.000 It was a reformation from a political standpoint.

03:39:04.000 And I think Cromwell was really more involved in the politics of it than he was the religious aspects of it.

03:39:10.000 When they broke with the Pope, what they were doing was breaking with a worldwide system of government.

03:39:15.000 They were breaking with the globalists.

03:39:18.000 England went its own way.

03:39:20.000 And that's, by the way, one of the reasons why you saw so many people being executed by one side or the other.

03:39:29.000 During those times, the Christians, because there was a heavy political side to it.

03:39:34.000 Not just a religious side, but a heavy political side to it.

03:39:36.000 And that's one of the reasons why the founders of this country said we want to separate religion from politics.

03:39:44.000 And that's the danger of Islam, is that they do not recognize that separation. 0.93

03:39:50.000 Everything about Islam, taken literally, says that they need to have Sharia law, which is a firm establishment of that religious order.

03:40:07.000 They don't understand the difference between the exercise, the free exercise of religion that is protected, It's a fundamental human right and it is recognized in our Constitution to be protected.

03:40:17.000 They don't understand the difference between the free exercise of religion and the establishment of religion.

03:40:23.000 Just because somebody at a school or somebody that belongs to a government organization like the Army is exercising Their right of religion, or participating in some way with it, that's not wrong.

03:40:35.000 That's not the same as establishment of religion.

03:40:37.000 We've been sold that lie for a long time, and I'm going to talk about that more in detail on the nightly news for the holidays as we come in.

03:40:46.000 Because I think this is a good time for us to think about the First Amendment, why this country was established.

03:40:51.000 Religious freedom had a lot to do with it, and it's the left that's trying to take religious freedom away from us.

03:40:56.000 But I want to take a look at this story from the Washington Post.

03:40:59.000 They're wringing their hands, talking about how Trump may be taking away some of Washington workers' privileges.

03:41:07.000 You understand?

03:41:09.000 You talk about white privilege all you want, but there's nobody more privileged than federal workers.

03:41:14.000 In this article right here, they say Trump has a plan for government workers, and they're not going to like it.

03:41:21.000 Well, you know what this election was about, Washington Post.

03:41:24.000 Was the rest of us didn't like the plan that you had for the rest of us who weren't government workers.

03:41:30.000 We didn't like that.

03:41:31.000 You took away our job security.

03:41:33.000 You took away everything that you demand that you have.

03:41:36.000 And the workers understand they've been betrayed by both the government and in most cases the unions who are allied with the government.

03:41:44.000 Here's what they have to say.

03:41:44.000 They say Trump and the Republican-controlled Congress are drawing up plans to take on the government bureaucracy they have long railed against.

03:41:52.000 By eroding job protections and grinding down benefits for federal workers that they've received for a generation.

03:42:00.000 See, that's the federal worker's privilege.

03:42:03.000 And I understand that they would like to have job protections, they would like to have automatic raises, all of us would.

03:42:12.000 But the reality is that that's not America today.

03:42:16.000 And the people who are the most to blame for that ...are the people in Washington, and they should share with this rebuilding.

03:42:23.000 It says hiring freezes, an end to automatic raises, a green light to fire poor performers, a ban on union businesses on the government's dime, and less generous pensions.

03:42:32.000 The same kind of stuff that the rest of us in America have had to see.

03:42:37.000 Because of your policies.

03:42:39.000 So, hiring freezes.

03:42:40.000 An end to automatic raises.

03:42:41.000 Gee, what a difficult time for the workers in Washington.

03:42:45.000 They say these changes were once unthinkable to federal employees, to their unions, to their supporters in Congress.

03:42:50.000 But Trump's election, as an outsider, promises to shake up a system he told voters is a wash in waste, fraud and abuse.

03:42:58.000 And we know that it is.

03:42:59.000 And they refer to this article that was on Breitbart.

03:43:02.000 It was also on the Drudge Report.

03:43:04.000 The number of government employees now surpasses manufacturing jobs by 10 million.

03:43:09.000 And even more important, when I covered this article for the Nightly News, was the fact that they were adding government workers at twice the rate that we were losing manufacturing jobs.

03:43:20.000 So in other words, a thousand manufacturing jobs being lost in a given period, and then adding 2,000 government jobs.

03:43:27.000 What are they manufacturing?

03:43:30.000 They're manufacturing rules, regulations.

03:43:33.000 They are manufacturing fines, okay?

03:43:35.000 What are these government workers, these, you know, that exceed manufacturing jobs by 10 million, what do they manufacture?

03:43:42.000 They manufacture chains.

03:43:44.000 Remember the Declaration of Independence, where Thomas Jefferson said they have created, the king, has created swarms of officers to harass our people and eat out their substance.

03:43:56.000 That's exactly what we have seen here in Washington.

03:44:00.000 And if you look at Thomas Jefferson's second inaugural address, after he got re-elected, he looked back on his first term.

03:44:08.000 And he said, we have eliminated useless offices.

03:44:12.000 And by doing so, we've been able to cut and eliminate all internal taxes.

03:44:19.000 So that laborers and farmers and mechanics can all say, what tax man?

03:44:25.000 We don't know a tax man.

03:44:27.000 Think about that.

03:44:28.000 That was essentially the way the United States was governed.

03:44:32.000 Until they created the income tax.

03:44:34.000 Along with the income tax and the Federal Reserve, what they did was they changed our tax structure so that we no longer taxed goods that were coming into our country.

03:44:43.000 Instead, those came in for free.

03:44:47.000 And what we did was, we taxed everybody internally.

03:44:50.000 It was an inversion of what the Declaration of Independence was about.

03:44:53.000 It was an inversion of what Thomas Jefferson had said.

03:44:57.000 And so, what we have here is a situation where we have a privileged class that believes that they can import Uh, workers and they can export jobs.

03:45:07.000 They can burden us with every kind of regulation.

03:45:10.000 They can harass us out of existence and yet they believe that they should still be able to continue to grow at an exponential rate.

03:45:18.000 No hiring freezes.

03:45:20.000 And get automatic raises and so forth and so on.

03:45:22.000 No, that's going to change and it's a good sign to see the Washington Post and the head of the National Federation of Federal Employees wringing their hands saying we're going to be playing defense for at least a couple of years.

03:45:36.000 And this guy who's head of the third largest federal union says the most immediate worry is how are we going to shrink government?

03:45:42.000 Are we going to lay people off?

03:45:43.000 Are we going to eliminate whole agencies?

03:45:45.000 Are we going to do it through attrition?

03:45:47.000 I would say all of the above.

03:45:50.000 Let's do all of the above.

03:45:51.000 Let's do all of that.

03:45:52.000 We haven't had a federal agency eliminated since the beginning of the Reagan administration.

03:45:58.000 And we had one individual, I can't remember his name right now, Howard Phillips, who created the Taxpayer Party.

03:46:07.000 He actually shut down the bureaucracy that he was put in charge of.

03:46:12.000 We need more people like that.

03:46:13.000 We need more people to do that.

03:46:15.000 They point out Trump has promised that in his first 100 days in office he will freeze hiring by not replacing employees who leave.

03:46:21.000 Military and employees in public health and safety roles would be exempt according to the President-elect's contract with the American voters.

03:46:29.000 So let's hope that that happens.

03:46:32.000 Also, we see that even Paul Ryan is now talking again about Obamacare.

03:46:36.000 Remember he got elected time and time again saying that he was going to take care of the borders, he was going to take care of Obamacare, and now they come out and say, well look, Paul Ryan has got a blueprint for how to repeal Obamacare.

03:46:49.000 As if Donald Trump didn't!

03:46:51.000 I mean, Donald Trump has had this plan, as I pointed out, probably 15 or 16 months.

03:46:56.000 It's one of the first things he did.

03:46:58.000 He did it shortly after he did the immigration plan.

03:47:00.000 He did a very detailed plan for a candidate.

03:47:05.000 Most candidates only talk in the most general ideas about what they're going to do, but Donald Trump had like a 10-point plan.

03:47:12.000 It wasn't exactly 10 points.

03:47:14.000 It was 7.

03:47:15.000 There you go.

03:47:16.000 Because, you know, you do a 10-point plan, a lot of times that's kind of phony.

03:47:19.000 He did a 7-point plan.

03:47:21.000 Basically what he did, he talked about getting rid of the mandate, modifying existing laws that inhibit the sale of health insurance across state lines.

03:47:28.000 In other words, get rid of the mandate, create competition and a marketplace.

03:47:33.000 He also talked about letting people fully deduct their health insurance from their tax returns.

03:47:38.000 Why wouldn't we be able to do that?

03:47:40.000 If health insurance and health care is so important, why wouldn't the government let us pay for that ourselves before we send them the money?

03:47:49.000 And they hand it back to us as a subsidy, like we're children on allowance.

03:47:54.000 That's the first thing they ought to do.

03:47:55.000 But he talked about letting us deduct health insurance premiums from our tax returns, letting us set up health savings accounts, and then having price information from the health care provider so we can actually shop.

03:48:05.000 See, what he's talking about is setting up the tools that you need to operate in a marketplace.

03:48:11.000 You need the ability to pay, you need to have something to buy with, and for some people, we're going to have to do something to help them with that.

03:48:19.000 Basically, you need to have a marketplace, and not the phony marketplace like Obama created.

03:48:23.000 You have to have choice, not coercion, not mandates, okay?

03:48:28.000 And that means that you're going to be able to shop around, you'll be able to shop across state lines.

03:48:32.000 Isn't it interesting, these people who constantly Talk about free trade did not want to have free trade on health care within the United States.
