00:21:59.000 Today is April 24th, 2018, and according to The Guardian, the UK has been powered without coal for three days in a row, setting a new record and underlining the polluting fuels' rapid decline.

00:22:12.000 Now, this was seen as a big victory in the fight against global warming, or what is now called climate change, because they're trying to phase out coal as it is a carbon-producing pollutant.

00:22:24.000 But there is a slight catch, as the Guardian reports.

00:22:27.000 Without this fossil fuel, nearly a third of Britain's electricity was supplied by gas, followed by wind farms and nuclear on around a quarter each.

00:22:35.000 But the most important part is this next line.

00:22:38.000 The rest came from biomass burned at Drax Power Station in North Yorkshire.

00:22:43.000 Now, biomass is the fancy term for any sort of organic compound that is burned for fuel.

00:22:52.000 This is presented as a earth-friendly alternative to coal, but if we look in just a little bit deeper, we find that that is not the case.

00:23:02.000 And here's the reason why.

00:23:04.000 Huge areas of hardwood forests in the state of Virginia are being chainsawed to create biomass energy in Britain as the government attempts to reach targets to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in an effort to tackle climate change.

00:23:19.000 So that means that instead of using coal, in their effort to do away with coal which has been branded as a bad fuel source, they have turned to cutting down old growth, slow growth forests in Virginia, chopping up those trees into tiny pellets and shipping those to the UK to be burned in their power plants.

00:23:41.000 On its face, this is a ridiculous proposal.

00:23:43.000 The idea that using coal is somehow more impactful to the environment than cutting down slow-growth, old-growth forests in Virginia, and using that material to burn doesn't make any sense on its face. 0.96

00:23:57.000 But as you look more into it, the more ridiculous it becomes.

00:24:00.000 The power station giant claims that burning pellets instead of coal reduces carbon emissions 0.50

00:24:05.000 by more than 80%.

00:24:07.000 However, Dispatches, which is a program on Channel 4, BBC's Channel 4, conducted a simple

00:24:13.000 experiment at a laboratory at the University of Nottingham to compare the carbon dioxide

00:24:18.000 emitted when burning wood pellets similar to those used by dracks instead of coal.

00:24:22.000 It found that to burn an amount of wood pellets that would generate the same amount of electricity

00:24:27.000 as coal, it would actually produce roughly 8% more carbon.

00:24:32.000 So that's just on its surface.

00:24:33.000 They tell you that burning this biomass will reduce less, will produce less CO2, but studies

00:24:41.000 at the Nottingham University have revealed that that's not true.

00:24:43.000 In fact, burning the wood pellets produces more CO2 and that's not even considering the

00:24:48.000 transportation and the cutting down of the trees, which themselves act as a filter to

00:24:54.000 get rid of the CO2.

00:24:56.000 Bye.

00:25:00.000 It actually gets even more ridiculous.

00:25:03.000 On the question of Drax claims that by burning wood instead of coal it reduces carbon emissions by more than 80%, Koss admitted it doesn't include emissions from its chimneys.

00:25:16.000 It doesn't include stack emissions because if we're sourcing sustainable biomass from working forests, where this is more growth than is being harvested, we see the carbon being reabsorbed.

00:25:29.000 I tried to wrap my head around this and I really can't.

00:25:31.000 I guess what he's saying is because they're using trees that they've chopped down and chopped up as biomass, somehow the CO2 is going to be reabsorbed by the new trees that they plant.

00:25:46.000 But if you just chop down trees, then they aren't taking in as much CO2.

00:25:52.000 You're just taking things that typically remove CO2 and you are burning those creating more CO2 but it's okay

00:25:59.000 because using that sustainable biomass means that the trees will grow more and

00:26:06.000 absorb more CO2.

00:26:07.000 It literally doesn't make any sense. It's a policy that's costing taxpayers

00:26:11.000 more than 700 million pounds per year through a levy on their electricity

00:26:16.000 bills. So that means that people in the UK are paying an extra 700 million

00:26:20.000 dollars in order to get off of coal and on to this biomass which again sounds 0.55

00:26:26.000 good but most definitely isn't. So this alone highlights how the goals of the

00:26:34.000 left, the goals purported by the left such as trying to tamp down on carbon

00:26:40.000 emissions, trying to prevent global warming, trying to prevent climate change.

00:26:44.000 In reality they're just scams of the highest order.

00:26:48.000 They are They're preying on people's desire to do good, on people's desire to do something to help save the Earth.

00:26:55.000 And they're taking that desire and they're warping it to make money.

00:26:59.000 They're taking advantage of that desire to sell a product and fill their own pockets.

00:27:07.000 The people shipping the material are making money.

02:51:31.000 I'm not saying anything about any particular case, but when I see a coordinated effort to try to shut down any player in the marketplace of ideas, it's a form of terrorism.

02:51:44.000 And I don't use that term lightly, but it is an attempt to abuse the court system in order to erase ideas you don't like, that you're not comfortable fighting in the marketplace of ideas.

02:51:59.000 But more importantly is people who don't agree with you shouldn't let them get away with it either.

02:52:06.000 And when you can harness people to get together in order to protect freedom of expression, people who will say, my tribe is freedom of expression, not my tribe is people that believe in what I believe in or people who don't.

02:52:25.000 Whether it's Randa Jarrar, who I find to be one of the most reprehensible human beings in America, whether it's the Nazi Party, the KKK, or whether it's the Communist Party, every one of them has an equal right to be there.

03:03:36.000 But it's happening everywhere, and it's not just defamation suits designed to try to bring down media that somebody doesn't want to have out there.

03:03:46.000 It's not just bogus lawsuits like this, but it's also, for example, my firm is involved in a number of cases now where people are trying to close courtrooms because they don't want what's supposed to go on in the people's courtroom to be televised, whether it's There's a crackdown on transparency that even the Communist Chinese government a few months ago praised the U.S.
