02:32:35.000 You've been fighting for the people in Nigeria for a very long time and in season and out of season with fortitude and consistency.
02:32:44.000 But most Americans do not know what is happening to the Christians in Nigeria.
02:32:49.000 Can you give us a primer of what's going on?
02:32:51.000 Yes, Nigeria is about 50% Christian and 50% Muslim.
02:33:02.000 It's split right down the middle.
02:33:04.000 And, you know, there's a long history to that.
02:33:08.000 What Americans might not realize is the reason southern Nigeria is Christian predominantly is because of missionaries, primarily from England and from Ireland.
02:33:25.000 Who, during the colonial period, traveled to that part of Africa, West Africa.
02:33:34.000 And while the colonial guys were doing their thing, excavating and so forth, the missionaries were there with the people and sharing the gospel with the people.
02:33:48.000 And the tribes in the Southeast, The Igbo people, among them who I work with, received the Gospel very readily, and they felt that many elements of their own traditional religion synced up very well with the Gospel.
02:34:10.000 So now, that corresponded with the Muslim migration through Africa to the South, You know, we know how Islam originally proliferated through North Africa and, you know, my amateur understanding is, you know, they just kind of moved south and were competitors with Christianity throughout many countries in Africa and including in Nigeria.
02:34:46.000 So there was a... And it often spread through violence, but the gospel was being spread through peace.
02:34:53.000 And it was ripping apart the institution of slavery, which we are still seeing Christians being enslaved today in Nigeria, right?
02:34:59.000 I mean, we're tearing down statues of slave traders and advocates of slavery, which I have no dog in that hunt.
02:35:08.000 Bring those down peacefully, orderly.
02:35:10.000 You want to take down a hero of a different era that was advocating an ideology of evil that we have progressed beyond.
02:35:18.000 Let's bring those down. 0.99
02:35:19.000 But there are Christians, black Christians today.
02:35:23.000 I've been in Sudan.
02:35:25.000 I've witnessed the redemption of slaves from Muslims. 1.00
02:35:29.000 Christians were redeeming slaves from Muslim tribes. 1.00
02:35:32.000 And in Nigeria today, do we have Christians enslaved today?
02:35:37.000 Yes, you do.
02:35:38.000 I mean, if you look at the fall of Libya and the rise of ISIS there, there's become a trade.
02:35:53.000 It's almost like a second trans-Saharan slave trade. 0.64
02:35:56.000 So many Nigerians get caught up in that, thinking that they can make it to Europe and they get They get caught up in that trafficking, you know, and often it's ice blocks.

02:36:12.000 They have auction blocks.
02:36:14.000 Nick, when I was in Sudan, I met a boy who we redeemed, who had to care for the sheep for his slave master.
02:36:24.000 He went to church.
02:36:25.000 When he went to church, one of the sheep escaped.
02:36:28.000 So the next week, His master said, you're going to go to church home, so build yourself a cross.
02:36:35.000 He made him build a big cross.
02:36:37.000 That Sunday, his master nailed him to the cross, and he kept him there all day.
02:36:41.000 Wow.
02:36:43.000 We met this boy.
02:36:44.000 He had been redeemed.
02:36:45.000 Tragically, a couple of years later, this boy's village had been raided again, and he had been killed this time.
02:36:53.000 So we're talking about All Lives Matter, Black Lives Matter.
02:36:57.000 Why is the media burying the slave trade in Africa?
02:37:01.000 Why is it that exists today?
02:37:03.000 Why is the media burying the plight of black Africans today?
02:37:09.000 Yeah, that's a good question.
02:37:13.000 I would guess it's partially at least because of the religious factor, the Islamic Christian paradigm.
02:37:24.000 Right.
02:37:24.000 Because it's imperative that Christian lives don't matter.
02:37:26.000 Right.
02:37:27.000 And I think there's some post-colonial interests that still may be corrupt in a way that like to downplay the fact that I think, at least in Nigeria's context, that the Muslim Fulani North part of Nigeria is favored By Britain, you know, or by the British establishment, I would say, because I think there are many people in Britain who are sympathetic to the lives of Christians in Nigeria and want to do something to end it.
02:38:06.000 But, you know, there was just like in the middle belt in Nigeria, there have been many attacks by the Fulani herdsmen killing Christians indiscriminately in the so-called farmer herder And one of these states in central Nigeria, there was supposed to be a visit by Prince Charles to one of these states.
02:38:31.000 I believe it was Taraba State.
02:38:33.000 And this was, I think, last year.
02:38:35.000 And he was to visit an area where one of these attacks had taken place, but the government requested that he not make that visit.
02:38:45.000 And Prince Charles complied with that.
02:38:48.000 You know, so it's things like that.

02:39:00.000 We operate two schools, primary and secondary level schools in Southeast Nigeria.
02:39:07.000 And this is with my colleague, Deacon Leo Okonkwo, who I've known for 20 years.

02:39:21.000 And so we're forming these children to be servant leaders, the servant leaders of the future in Nigeria.
02:39:29.000 And I would just say to Americans, why should I care about Nigeria or Africa?
02:39:35.000 Again, I would just say, if you're a person of faith, our forebears, our ancestors, sacrificed a lot in Nigeria.
02:39:45.000 They sacrificed their lives in Nigeria.
02:39:49.000 And so, I think we have a natural spiritual bond with the people of Nigeria and people of West Africa.
02:39:57.000 So, and I think it's important for freedom and for Christianity to continue to thrive in Africa because they are constantly threatened.
02:40:12.000 It's a daily threat, you know, to the average person in Africa that Islam is lurking, militant Islam. 1.00
02:40:22.000 I mean, of course, there are very, you know, good Muslim people in Africa.
02:40:25.000 There are Muslims in Nigeria standing with the Christians.

02:40:34.000 It's that element that does wage jihad constantly that, you know, that people of goodwill of all faiths, Christians and Muslims in Africa have to have to stand against.
02:40:46.000 So I think that should be an interest You know, for Americans who, you know, obviously America First is something, you know, I'm about as well, but I have this spiritual connection and bond with Africa and with Nigeria in particular.
