02:43:38.000 Now the UK has gone one step further and said you're not even allowed to prove you don't have COVID.

02:44:18.000 Now, this is all being introduced despite the fact that the government's own events research programme, where they had all these nightclub events, outdoor sporting events to test whether coronavirus was very transmissible during these events, They found, quote, that it revealed few infections linked to outdoor sports events.

02:46:22.000 Nightclub owners say they'll refuse to enforce vaccine passports as a condition of entry.

02:46:28.000 This was as yet another UK government minister refused to rule out vaccine passports for pubs.

02:46:34.000 But nightclub owners say the plan to impose the same rules on their venues is shambolic, with some vowing to refuse to enforce it.

02:46:43.000 Michael Kiel, Chief Executive of the Nighttime Industries Association, said, quote, The announcement from the Prime Minister that Covid passports will be made mandatory for nightclubs in September comes after his Health Secretary said only one week ago that they would not be compulsory.

02:47:00.000 Says, leaving aside the fact that this is yet another chaotic U-turn that will leave nightclubs who have been planning for reopening for months will now have to make more changes to the way they operate.

02:47:30.000 Saying his nightclubs won't be requiring people to be double jabbed or they won't have anyone in.

02:47:36.000 He said younger guests are 95% of our customers.

02:47:39.000 They won't be fully vaccinated by September.

02:47:41.000 We won't be requiring them, otherwise we won't have anyone in.

02:47:45.000 These nightclubs have profit margins of about 15%.

02:47:48.000 If they don't, if they lose 15% of their customers, they're going out of business.

02:47:53.000 35% of 18 to 13 year olds, 18 to 30 year olds in the UK haven't been vaccinated.

02:48:48.000 This was a restaurant I used to go to about 15 years ago when I used to live up in Sheffield called Julio's.

02:48:55.000 The only restaurant in the entire village and now it's closed down as a result of COVID-19 as they announced on their Facebook page.

02:49:04.000 Given that Julio's was the only restaurant in the area aside from pubs which are also struggling, it's loss is sure to be keenly felt by the local community given that it had been a much-loved gathering place for almost 20 years.

02:49:19.000 10% of restaurants in the UK have closed down permanently, and in fact it's more than that, because they're including the numbers of the ones that have opened.
