00:50:54.000 Zimbabwe was nicknamed the breadbasket of Africa and we used to supply flowers and all kinds of agricultural products even to Europe.

00:51:02.000 We had flights leaving Zimbabwe every day to Europe just with flowers, for example.

00:51:08.000 Zimbabwe was just this beautiful country, cosmopolitan.

00:51:12.000 I mean, when I went to school, I went to a private school and I went to a school with people from all over the world.

00:51:17.000 I'm talking Sweden, Yugoslavia, Botswana, South Africa, people from all over the world, Australia.

00:51:25.000 So, a lot of people migrated to Zimbabwe and lived there because it was such a great country to live in.

00:51:31.000 It was very peaceful.

00:51:33.000 I used to walk miles to school, even as a young child.

00:51:37.000 Never had any issues.

00:51:39.000 Very peaceful, very open-minded, very cosmopolitan, great weather.

00:51:45.000 They say it has the best climate in the world, you know, till today.

00:51:49.000 You know, we have 82 degree days pretty much every day and our winters are like 75 degrees.

00:51:56.000 So it was just great growing up there.

00:51:58.000 I could never have asked to live anywhere else but in Zimbabwe.

00:52:03.000 And describe what you witnessed in the time frame growing up of it going from, I've heard it described as Westerners that live there as like Hawaii and just being this paradise and then now just destroyed.

00:52:17.000 Well, it's actually a lot like South Florida, is what I would describe it as.

00:52:21.000 Actually, when I go to South Florida, it's so reminiscent of Harare, which is where I grew up, the capital city.

00:52:29.000 You know, the palm trees, the bungalows, beautiful streets lined with palm trees and so forth.

00:52:38.000 Yeah, beautiful pictures you're showing over there.

00:52:40.000 Jacaranda trees, purple trees, and it was just an amazing place to grow up.

00:52:46.000 And then gradually, I mean, this is...

00:52:48.000 It happened over a 20 year period.

00:52:51.000 So when I look at what's going on right now in America, you know, you may not feel like this is something that is happening now, but it is something that is going to take some time.

00:53:00.000 It may take five years, 10 years before you actually see a total collapse like we saw in Zimbabwe. 0.82

00:53:05.000 Because it started gradually, probably in the early 90s.

00:53:10.000 Now looking back in retrospect, because I was young, but now looking back in retrospect, I started realizing how, you know, the IMF You know, had come in and they had this economic structural redevelopment plan that they instituted in Zimbabwe, where they basically were encouraging Zimbabwe to devalue their currency.

00:53:30.000 You know, in exchange for all this funding that they were going to give Zimbabwe.

00:53:34.000 So already in the 90s, I started to hear, you know, family, older family members complaining about inflation and so forth, but it wasn't so bad until it hit probably 2002 is when we started to see real hyperinflation.

00:53:51.000 I mean, I remember when I was first coming to Zimbabwe, Because in the early, earlier on, like maybe in the early 90s, the Zimbabwean dollar was so strong.

00:54:01.000 I mean, it was even stronger than the U.S. 0.54

00:54:04.000 dollar because it was 1 is to 1 with the British pound, probably in the 80s.

00:54:08.000 In the 90s, you know, people were complaining because it was like 1 is to 10, which, you know, that was a big jump.

00:54:15.000 And then by the time I was coming to the United States, it was now one dollar was about 30.

00:54:20.000 I mean, one U.S.

00:54:21.000 dollar was now about 35 U.S.

00:54:24.000 dollars, and people were totally freaking out because we were not used to that.

00:54:28.000 You know, 35 dollars for every Zimbabwean, for every U.S.

00:54:31.000 dollar.

00:54:32.000 And then now you fast forward from that point, when I started leaving for Zimbabwe, it was really hard for my mother to even get U.S.

00:54:40.000 dollars from the bank.

00:54:42.000 So people had to go to the black market.

00:54:44.000 So the bank rate would be $35 for one U.S.

00:54:47.000 dollar.

00:54:47.000 But then on the black market, it would be like $150, which is ridiculous.

00:54:52.000 $150 of your own money to get one U.S.

00:54:55.000 And that was a lot of money back then.

00:54:55.000 dollar.

00:54:58.000 And then you fast forward within like two years, it went to like from one US dollar is $35 to like one US dollar is now $1,000, you know, and then and so on and so on until it became like you're showing that hundred trillion dollar note.

00:55:16.000 To wear one US dollar, you needed to have something like 500 million Zimbabwean dollars.

00:55:23.000 And that's how quickly the currency just devalued.

00:55:26.000 It was almost like it happened overnight.

00:55:30.000 I mean, I remember being in the store with my mom and we are putting groceries in the cart.

00:55:37.000 And by the time we get to the checkout, the checkout lady tells us that the price has changed.

00:55:43.000 It's gone up.

00:55:45.000 And that's how quickly the prices were changing.

00:55:47.000 You're literally shopping in the supermarket.

00:55:50.000 When you get to checkout, the price has to be readjusted because that's how quickly the inflation was.

00:55:56.000 So I looked at the percentage before I came on and I see different percentages that were estimated of percentage of inflation.

00:56:04.000 One of the ones that I saw was something like 750 million percent inflation.

00:56:10.000 So as you can imagine, people were losing everything.

00:56:13.000 I mean, I remember even my mother, she had investments like in, you know, she had stocks, she had life insurance, she had all these types of, you know, things that she had saved for in her lifetime, her retirement account.

00:56:27.000 It all came to nothing.

00:56:28.000 Literally, like you could literally go buy a bag of groceries with your life savings.

00:56:33.000 So when you hear Biden and the private central bank, the Federal Reserve and all of them saying inflation is actually good.

00:56:41.000 But historically, it never is.

00:56:42.000 And what happened in Weimar, Germany, where people would pay for their dinner at the beginning of dinner, because it might be 20, 30, 40 percent more in just a few hours, you experienced what Weimar, Germany, which we know what that brought in, you experienced that yourself.

00:56:56.000 What is it like now to be a successful American, the American dream, exactly the type of immigrant we want, amazing person, to see now another country you love being destroyed? 0.99

02:38:58.000 Simply put, a swarm is a brain of brains and it can be smarter than any individual member.

02:39:09.000 This is about 10,000 bees.

02:39:11.000 And they have a very important problem to solve.

02:39:13.000 They need to find a new home to move into.

02:39:17.000 That new home could be a hollow log, or the hole in the side of a building, or if you're unlucky like I was, a crawlspace in your garage.

02:39:25.000 Now, this sounds simple, but this is a life-or-death decision that could impact the survival of the colony for generations.

02:39:32.000 To solve this problem, the bees send out hundreds of scout bees that search a 30 square mile area and find dozens of candidate sites.

02:39:44.000 The hard part is that they then need to pick the best possible solution from all the options that they've discovered.

02:42:42.000 A hive mind is nature's way of aggregating the diverse perspectives of a population and maximizing their collective wisdom.

02:42:51.000 And let's be honest, we humans are pretty smart as individuals, but in groups, we're not always that wise.

02:43:04.000 We use votes and polls and surveys.

02:43:10.000 They drive us to entrench, exposing and reinforcing our differences, but doing nothing to help us find common ground.
